They are no less beautiful than living ones, plus: they will not dry out, will not lose their appearance at the most inopportune moment, and will retain their original appearance, beauty and color for a long time. They can be placed anywhere, and the flexible wire stems can be easily shaped into any shape. They are fabric flowers, a real masterpiece of handicraft.

You can use fabric to make flowers that can be easily assembled into a wedding bouquet.

Wedding decoration with artificial flowers

Typically, artificial flowers at a wedding are used for:

  • and her wedding wreath, and, if necessary, also for her purse and hair clip;
  • and best man;
  • interior compositions.

For example, you can make such an original wedding bouquet from satin roses. Don't miss our wedding!

We make a delicate and stylish bouquet of satin roses with our own hands!

Below you will find how to make artificial flowers at home. Everything you need for this exquisite creativity can be purchased at a specialty store. You don't need much:

  • a set of rolls (these are metal balls on wooden handles to give the petals a convex shape);
  • knife for corrugating leaves and petals;
  • a spatula for curling the edges of the petals;
  • scissors, awl, tweezers.

All bouquets, both for the bride and her bridesmaids, are made of fabric.

These are all very easy to use tools.

To make fabric flowers we will also need:

  • a rubber pad on which you will process the flower details;
  • touch-up brushes and dye jars;
  • glass on which tinting is done.

You can’t do without soft wire for the stems, paper (preferably tissue paper) for wrapping them, and PVA glue (PVA-M latex glue). Salt dough or colored paraffin for pistils and stamens and aniline dyes for fabric may be required. And you will also need your imagination and creativity.

The most important thing is the right choice of fabric for the flowers that you are going to make with your own hands.

Important: It is easiest to work with natural fabrics (crepe satin, silk, crepe de chine, chiffon). They stretch well and are easy to crimp. Synthetic fabrics have poor stretch and become deformed when the instrument overheats; working with them requires a lot of experience.

Important: use only new fabrics.

Master class on fabric flowers for a wedding

Let's make a very simple open semi-double pale pink rose from chiffon. The petals of this rose are almost flat, revealing the stamens. The diameter of the flower is 5-7 centimeters.

Some details for assembling a fabric flower

Preparing fabric for a flower

The fabric is pre-gelatinized. To do this, two tablespoons of gelatin are left to swell in a glass of cold water, then heated in a water bath. Apply this solution to a fabric with a brush and then hang it to dry. The dried fabric is ironed with a warm iron.

Fabric flower patterns

You can find ready-made patterns, but there is an excellent little-known method - we will share it with you: patterns can be made using templates taken from the outlines of fresh flowers. To do this, the flower is disassembled into individual petals, their outlines are traced on thick paper, cut out, and the pattern is ready.

Do the same with the leaves, but be sure to make a small boat-shaped protrusion 5X4 mm at the base of each leaf blade to attach the leaf to the stem. Using this method you can obtain patterns of any flower, not just roses.

Petals of a very convex shape, which do not lie completely on the paper, are outlined with some deviation from their shape.

They cut “on the bias”, tracing the pattern along the fabric with a ballpoint pen (red or green). A pencil is not suitable as it leaves a dirty mark. You need to cut, leaving a mark from the handle behind the outline.

Coloring the petals of fabric flowers

Shadow tint will make the flower more natural. It is made using the “wet” method: the petals are soaked in water, laid out on glass and the desired tone is applied with a brush. The leaves and sepals are painted green, the petals yellow - salad or salmon.

Shaping the petals

For this you will need boules. They are heated on an electric stove and the petal is processed on a soft pad, making it concave. There is another processing method, cold: the petal is placed on a piece of rubber and drawn with a curling knife from the edges to the center.

Making stamens for fabric flowers

These elements complete the complete resemblance to a living flower. Stamens are made from gelatinized threads, like fabric, and colored paint, into which the end of the thread, greased with glue, is dipped. The color can be replaced with melted wax. The number of stamens is 30-40 pieces.

The pestle is made from a ball of cotton wool attached to a wire, painted light green. The stamens and pistil are attached to a wire hook wrapped in paper and coated with glue.

Fabric flower core

A small button or cotton ball coated with glue will serve as the core. First attach a bunch of stamens with a pistil to it and start gluing the petals: from small to large, in a checkerboard pattern. Glue the green sepals last. Attach the flower to the end of the crochet stem.

For all work, use PVA glue; it does not leave marks on the fabric.

Fabric flower stem

It is made of wire entwined with colored paper shavings (strips of tissue paper 4-7 cm wide). The paper can be replaced with green thread. For strength, the stem is coated with glue or varnish.

Fabric flower leaves

The leaf petioles are made of flexible wire, covered, like the stem, with painted paper shavings. Glue each leaf blade onto a separate petiole, then use a hard rubber knife to apply veins to each blade. The petioles are collected into a complex leaf with one common petiole.

Assembling a flower branch from fabric

“Grow” leaf petioles onto a stem with a flower already attached. Wrap the twisted wires in paper, masking the joints.

For this we need:
candle
artificial (!) fabric (chiffon, organza, silk....)
fabric paints
scissors
"hot glue
base for a hairpin (headband, brooch, etc. at your discretion)
ribbons, beads, leaves (optional)
good mood (required!)
If everything is at hand, you can start!
So, first of all, you need to choose the fabric. For this method of making a flower, only ARTIFICIAL fabrics are suitable. It can be silk, organza, chiffon, etc. Flowers look very beautiful, in the manufacture of which several types of fabrics of different densities and textures are used. The color of the fabric may also vary. From colored fabric (or a combination of several colored fabrics), you can make a wonderful accessory for a dress or suit in a certain color scheme. By dyeing white fabric yourself, you can get more natural flowers in a variety of shades.
Having chosen the fabric, we decide on the size of the flower. For convenience, cut out a circle from thick paper with a diameter equal to the maximum size of the flower, and then three more circles, each of which is approximately 0.5 - 0.7 mm smaller than the previous one. The number of "size" circles can be changed, but from practice - 4 sizes is most optimal. The diameter of the largest template in my case is 7.5 cm. We remember that the finished flower is 1-1.5 cm smaller than the template, depending on the fabric used.
Now that the templates of four sizes are ready, we cut out blank circles from the fabric. Their number may be different, it depends on the density and splendor of the flower you want to get. I cut out about 4-5 pieces of each size, depending on the fabric, according to the principle, the thinner the fabric, the more blanks.
Option 1 (white silk)
We lay out the fabric blanks on the work surface and using fabric paints (I use DECOLA “Batik” paints), we begin painting the future petals. To obtain beautiful and natural color transitions, the fabric must first be slightly moistened.

In this version, I paint only the middle of the blanks, leaving the edges white. There is no point in achieving absolutely identical and even workpieces, because... in living nature there is nothing symmetrical or identical.

After the paint has dried on all the pieces, we move on to the next stage - cutting out the petals. To do this, cut the workpiece into 4 parts, about 1-1.5 cm short of the center, and cut off the sharp corners of the petals.
Then carefully and carefully process all the edges of the petals over the candle flame.

Having processed all the “quatrefoil blanks” in this way, we arrange them according to size. Then we make a flower out of them in descending order, fastening them together with “hot” glue (or stitching them with threads).

We add stamens (here small polystyrene foam is tinted in green), leaves and attach our animated flower using “hot” glue to the base for hairpins. In this case, I decided to leave the flowers more “open”, for which I used only 10-11 layers of blanks, leaving the middle free.

Option No. 2 (white chiffon)
All stages are the same as in option No. 1, only in this case we paint not only the middle, but the entire surface of the workpiece.

Cut into 4 parts, “rounding” the edges.

Burn the edges over the candles.

We collect a flower.

Add leaves and attach to the base for hairpins. To obtain such more lush flowers, I used 16-17 layers of blanks, completely covering the middle.

Option No. 3 (from colored fabrics)
To make these flowers, I used fabric left over from sewing a dress for my daughter.
These are three types of fabrics: gray silk, colored crinkled chiffon and light gray organza.
All stages of work are the same, only without dyeing the fabric. For clarity, I made two versions of this flower - one from blanks with 4 petals, and the other from blanks with 8 petals (the difference is clearly visible in the finished form).

It’s even faster and easier to make such flowers - we cut them out, burn them, assemble them, fasten them....

And here is the result - a wonderful accessory for the dress is ready!

Among the many different ways to make flowers from fabric, this option seems to me to be the most accessible, fast, and does not require special training or rare, expensive tools. At the same time, it allows you to achieve excellent results!

By imagining and experimenting in toning, combination of fabrics and assembly options, you can get a wide variety of floral decorations and accessories.

I hope my photo lesson will be useful and interesting: it will help someone remember a long-known type of needlework, someone will be inspired by new ideas, and someone with its help will decide to take the first step into the wonderful world of creativity!

, kusudama , quilling ). Graceful satin or silk flowers look great on the hats of fashionistas and often serve as decorative decorations for interior elements (curtains, curtains, lampshades, wall panels , bedspreads, pillows).

Many masters (including our contemporaries) have improved the technique so much

folding flowers from different materials that the crafts they created look like real creations of living nature!

On the website there is a separate category of materials dedicated to the production flowers made from satin ribbons using the kanzashi technique . Master classes and video lessons on making crafts using this technique found a wide response among our visitors. In continuation of this topic, we have posted here interesting photos and video lessons for those who like to create original flowers with your own hands from different types of fabrics. For example, from satin fabric you can make graceful rose petals , which are easy to fold into a large beautiful flower.

If you are planning to start making artificial flowers from fabric , then try to carefully examine the detailed structure of a flower, an individual petal, stem, sepal, leaf. Try to find distinctive features in the structure of different types of fresh flowers. Examine the petals especially carefully, paying attention to their shape, color, geometry of bends, and location relative to other petals. All these observations will definitely be useful to you in your work and over time you will learn make unique crafts with your own hands , not inferior in beauty to the masterpieces of experienced professionals.

Bright bouquets of artificial flowers often serve as the compositional center of the interior. Such bouquets can decorate a room for many years - after all, fabric flowers do not fade, unlike their living counterparts. Any craft in the form of a flower, skillfully made with your own hands from a piece of fabric or from a piece of satin ribbon, can liven up the atmosphere of even the most dull interior!

HOW TO CUT CORRECTLY

There is a lot of information on the Internet on the technique of making flowers from fabric with detailed descriptions and videos. But I still decided to add my efforts here too. Our website already has a couple of MKs on this topic, but suddenly you forgot about this type of needlework. I hope it will be useful to someone))) So, we need:

  1. Fabric made from artificial fibers.
  2. Patterns of flowers or petals.
  3. Pins and needles with threads. ()
  4. Chalk, soap or disappearing marker. ()
  5. Various beads, rhinestones, buttons, stamens.
  6. Candle and matches.
  7. Scissors. ()
  8. Patience.

The fabric must contain synthetic fibers so that it can be further processed by fire. It can be silk, satin, chiffon, organza. You need to prepare templates for the petals in advance - cut them out of cardboard or thick paper. The shape of the template determines how the finished flower will look. The shape of the template is limited only by your imagination. To do this, draw several five-leaf leaves of different sizes, or individual petals of different sizes.

If you need a large number of identical petals, then the fabric must be folded into 4 or 8 layers. Attach the templates to the fabric and trace. Secure each piece with pins and cut out. There is no need to try to make everything as smooth as possible. After all, there are no identical petals on a living flower.

After we have traced and cut out the required number of petals, we begin firing. Carefully bring the fabric to the candle flame, smoothly passing it. Due to the impact of fire, the edges are melted and slightly curled, giving shape to our petals. This is how we process all the details. Some particularly large petals can be slightly cut to create a ragged effect. You should end up with such “clumsy” blanks.

Then we start assembling We arrange our blanks according to size. We thread the needle and stick the needle, eye down, into something soft. This could be a piece of polystyrene foam, foam rubber, or, for example, a pincushion, like mine. Then we begin to place our blanks on the sharp end of the needle.

Five-petal blanks gather in turns from large to small. You determine the number of tiers yourself, depending on the desired result. For example, you can assemble it like this: 4 large blanks, 3 smaller ones, another 3 blanks of the next size, and 4 very small ones. The center of the flower can be assembled from a different color. You can also leave space for beads or add tiny petals to the middle.

Heart-shaped blanks corresponds to one petal in a flower, unlike the previous version. We will need from 5 to 8 petals of each size. We will collect one petal at a time - we string each petal by the “tail”, starting with the largest ones in a circle. We string each subsequent petal onto the previous one with an overlap.

It is not necessary to use all the blanks. Determine the filling of the flower according to your taste. The orange flowers below are made using this technique. After you have collected the flower, you need to fix it. Carefully pick up the flower and pull the needle through. Then secure with a few stitches in the center, catching all the petals. If the flower is not very dense, you can sew several beautiful beads into the middle. Sew the fastening on the back side. This can be a regular safety pin, a hairpin, or a special clasp purchased in a store.

The finished flowers look like this:

You can decorate anything or anyone with these flowers. I wish you creative success!

Today I decided to show you how to very simply and quickly create a beautiful accessory - flowers from fabric. Fabric flowers can be used to decorate clothes (dress, T-shirt, T-shirt, belt), to create accessories (bags, headbands, hair clips and much more).

For work we will need:

1. Cuts of fabric (we will make from satin and chiffon).

2. Scissors.

3. Needle and thread to match the fabric.

4. Pins.

5. Candle (preferably in a glass, I use a scented candle in glass, you can use any candle that is stable, that is, it stands on its own without your help).

6. Tweezers (forceps).

7. Beads, seed beads, glass beads.

So let's get started.

You need to make fabric flowers in a well-lit and comfortable place, preferably at a table.

1. Take the fabric from which you want to make flowers. It is better to use synthetic fabrics; they melt well at the edges. I took satin and chiffon in different colors. We cut strips of fabric 5-7 cm wide and as long as the piece of fabric allows you. Chiffon and satin tear well and evenly along the grain, make cuts on the fabric with scissors and tear the fabric. We fold the strips in several layers. Next, from fabric strips we cut into squares of different sizes, both large, smaller and very small (the size of your flowers will depend on the size of your squares). Now we take squares of the same size, fold them into several layers (the number of layers depends on your scissors) and cut circles out of them with scissors. We get circles of different sizes; the circles do not have to be even (it all depends on your imagination and the colors you want to make).

I got it like this (see picture above).

2. Now take a candle and light it. Larger circles can be held in your hand (these are the future petals of our flowers), small circles are held by the edge with tweezers so as not to burn your hands on the candle flame.

We take each circle one at a time, hold the circle by the edge and bring it to the candle flame, as if melting the flame along the contour, you need to make sure that the fabric (circle) does not catch fire. To prevent a fire, place a bowl or plate of water next to you, this will make it easier and faster to extinguish the fabric if it catches fire. You need to do everything quickly, that is, quickly draw a circle of fabric and melt the edges; from melting, the edges will begin to bend, you can vary the degree of bending of your future petals.

As a result, you should get flower petals, it should look something like the picture:

There can be any number of petals, it all depends on your idea, what you want to get in the end and what fabric your flowers will be made of. Beautiful flowers are obtained from both opaque and translucent fabrics. It is better to use fabric with synthetic fibers, as they will melt beautifully around the edges.

3. Now we take the petals that we received and begin to collect flowers. First, we take larger petals (circles) and place the petals on them in order of decreasing size; you can alternate large and small in size (this is necessary if you want to create a voluminous and lush flower). I fasten the petals with a pin for chopping and look at the appearance of the flower, the petals can be moved a little to the sides as you like, it all depends on your imagination. If you are satisfied with everything, then take a needle and thread that matches the color of the fabric, and holding the flower in your hand (the petals have been collected and folded one on top of the other) we fasten the petals. A few stitches in the center of the flower are enough.

This is approximately what you should get.

4. When you have stitched the flower petals together, you can start decorating the core. I used beads and bugles, you just need to sew beads, beads, rhinestones into the middle of the flower on the smallest upper petal (core).

So our flowers are ready. Now, depending on how you want to use them, you can make a brooch or simply sew them onto the item. It is better to wash the product on which you sew flowers by hand carefully and carefully.

Well that's it, thanks for reading. In this master class, I showed how to make the simplest flowers from fabric to decorate your things. If you have any questions, write, I will advise and answer them.

Best regards, Magic-Decor.
