When creating an original interior in your own apartment, each home master decides how to make the ceiling on the balcony with his own hands so that it matches the general style of the repair work. After all, no one wants to look at the boring gray concrete slab on the loggia.

When repairing any modern loggia or small balcony, the ceiling surface should be given no less attention than the walls and floor base. A properly made ceiling gives the apartment we are interested in a complete look, improves its sound and heat insulation characteristics.

Now there are many finishing materials that are ideal for finishing the ceiling surface. We will review them all. But first, let's talk about how to properly insulate the ceiling on the loggia. Without this operation, your balcony will not be able to become a full-fledged continuation of the apartment. A ceiling without thermal insulation will give off precious heat and let in cold air from the street or from neighbors. And neither expensive double-glazed windows, nor a well-mounted floor surface, nor walls insulated using the latest technologies will fix this situation.

Ceiling insulation on the loggia

Thermal insulation of balconies is most often performed using the following materials:

  1. Polyurethane foam boards. Their installation is extremely simple. You need to cut the plates to the desired size, coat their insides with adhesive and install the products on the ceiling. Additionally, such a heater is attached to the surface with dowels made of plastic. After the heat insulator is well attached, you can start finishing the ceiling lining with the selected finishing materials.
  2. Mineral wool. Popular for many decades insulation. For its self-assembly, it is necessary to fill wooden slats (boards) 4-6 cm thick on the ceiling surface. The distance between the individual elements of such a crate is taken equal to the width of the heat-insulating layer. The next step is laying mineral wool. You place it between the mounted boards, cover the insulation with a polyethylene film on top (it will become a reliable waterproofing agent for mineral wool that is hygroscopic in its structure) and fill thin slats across the boards. The latter are needed for high-quality fixation of the heat-insulating layer and at the same time for its ventilation.

What kind of insulation to use, choose for yourself. Get the material that suits your cost.

Ceiling decoration is easy to make from inexpensive and affordable materials. These include: finishing polystyrene tiles, plastic and wooden lining, MDF panels. Tiled products made of polystyrene are distinguished by their low cost and wonderful appearance. They look great on the ceiling. And their installation on the ceiling will take you a minimum of time.

The scheme of work is as follows:

  1. Set the center of the ceiling surface. This can be done with two ropes. They must be pulled from opposite corners of the loggia crosswise. The point where they intersect will be the center you need.
  2. Draw perpendicular axes through the found point (their ends will “rest” against the middle of the wall surfaces). You have a clear reference point for labeling polystyrene products.
  3. From the intersection of the axes, proceed to the installation of tiles. The first four products set the layout of all other tiles.

Pro Tip: There is no need to apply adhesive to the entire inside of the tile. It is enough to process only its corners and the center. Just apply a small drop of glue to these places. Believe me, polystyrene tiles will last forever. It is necessary to press the products treated with glue to the ceiling for 60–120 seconds. This time is more than sufficient for excellent bonding of the overlay material.

Polystyrene tiles for finishing the ceiling on the balcony

After installing all the tiles, it is required to make them edging with special skirting boards. They are easily cut into the desired size parts and glued to the ceiling surface with the adhesive that you used to mount the polystyrene products. Important! During the installation of tiles, as well as for 3-4 hours after this procedure, you should keep the windows and doors on the loggia closed. Such a simple precaution will ensure that the fresh finish does not fall off. Drafts are detrimental to glued tiles!

Without much labor, plastic and wooden lining is attached to the ceiling. Such materials are installed on a specially made frame. For plastic lining, it can be made of aluminum, for wood - from a metal profile or wood. All facing works in this case are performed elementarily. To the assembled one with your own hands, you attach the selected products with universal self-tapping screws or screws. For a day of quiet work, you can easily finish the ceiling of your loggia. And at the same time, the cost of all materials will be minimal.

MDF panels are also installed quickly and easily. In fact, they are an analogue of natural wood products, but more economical, which is important if you have allocated a modest financial budget for repairs. Most often, MDF panels are mounted on a frame made of aluminum profiles or on a rack structure. Additional advice.

To finish the ceiling on a loggia or balcony, it is advisable to use moisture-resistant models of MDF panels. Their choice in hardware stores is quite large. Therefore, you will not have problems with the selection of facing material for any interior.

A popular way of arranging the ceiling surface on the loggia is to cover it with plasterboard sheets (GKL). After installation, they are simply painted in the color you need. GCR is installed on a wooden or steel frame. For work, you need to purchase CD and UD profiles or wood bars, anchor hangers and rods for them, connectors (single-level) for profile products, dowels, stainless screws.

The metal frame is created like this:

  1. Fasten the UD-rail to the selected place with dowels (6 mm) and screws (4–5 mm).
  2. Attach the suspensions to the ceiling surface with the same hardware.
  3. Install the CD profile on suspensions, and then place it in the guide profile product.

Metal ceiling frame

After installing the frame, you can begin to sheathe it with drywall. The algorithm for performing work is as follows:

  1. Cut the GKL to the required dimensions.
  2. Lay electrical wiring under the frame. It must be hidden in special corrugated pipes.
  3. Attach drywall sheets to the frame structure. Reliable fixation of the GKL is achieved by fastening each product in the center and along the edges. It is recommended to use self-tapping screws as hardware.

Then you need to seal all the gaps between the GKL with reinforcement tape and treat them with putty on top. It is also used for sealing recesses, which in any case will remain on the plasterboard surface after the installation of fasteners. The next step is a solid plasterboard putty. An important point. Putty must dry on its own - naturally. Do not turn on the electric heaters on the balcony to speed up this process.

The final finishing work - applying paint to the ceiling. Experts advise working with paints intended for processing building facades. Such compositions are resistant to humidity and temperature fluctuations. They are characterized by increased reliability and long service life. For high-quality finishing of the ceiling surface on the loggia, it is enough to apply 2-3 layers of facade paint.

In recent years, stretch ceilings have been installed on many loggias. Such solutions are optimal for "lazy" home craftsmen. makes it possible not to deal with the elimination of numerous flaws on the ceiling surface, its careful and time-consuming leveling. Everything is made much easier. The algorithm for carrying out installation activities is as follows:

  1. Install the baguette profile around the perimeter of the balcony. Be sure to fix it with dowels to achieve the required structural strength.
  2. Heat the air on the balcony (up to 40 ° C) with a heat gun.
  3. Unwind the film ceiling material and fasten it with a base angle to the frame. Then attach the canvas to the opposite corner, and then to the remaining ones.

Stretch ceiling installation

The side faces of the stretch ceiling are fixed with a spatula. They need to bring a PVC sheet into the profile, acting as carefully as possible. A perfectly flat ceiling will delight you with its appearance immediately after the film has cooled.

Any owner of an apartment above the first floor sooner or later thinks - what to make the ceilings on the balcony from, how best to arrange them, and is the result of the effort and money invested worth it? It is impossible to answer these questions unambiguously - a lot will depend on the type of house, materials, climate and the ultimate goal of the repair.

One conclusion can be voiced immediately - finishing balcony ceilings has long become a familiar way to ennoble your home, costing minimal costs. The result, with full observance of technology, will please with durability and beauty.

Let us consider in detail all the methods and stages of such a repair.

Where to begin?

Before proceeding to the decorative part of the work, any balcony is waiting for a painstaking and very important stage - waterproofing and insulation. It can be simplified only in one case: when the neighbors from above have high-quality cladding and glazing, which is far from always the case, and the factor of rain and other moisture ingress will have to be taken into account and reduced to a minimum.

Concrete has a porous structure, which is especially vulnerable to moisture, and is especially damaged in winter, when the accumulated droplets expand in volume, contributing to the formation of cracks. Therefore, before starting work, it would be nice to invite a specialist who will assess the general condition of the balcony and give the go-ahead for waterproofing.

To date, there are several popular and relatively inexpensive ways:

  1. Penetrating compounds (only for concrete);
  2. Coating compositions (for brick and wood);
  3. Roll materials on polymeric compounds;
  4. Sealants (for cracks and cracks).
  5. There are only two heaters suitable for most Russian balconies, these are:
  6. Mineral wool;
  7. Polyurethane foam board.

The use of each of these materials is permissible only if it is known for certain that it is suitable for specific conditions. Otherwise, the consequences can lead to costly overhauls.

Finishes

Stretch ceiling

Contrary to the well-known opinion that such systems are used only in rooms with a large area, otherwise - “does not look” is a long-standing misconception. Even on 1-1.5 m2, it is quite possible to make those very tiers that design brochures paint so brightly. Convenience for installation is that all aluminum bases will be small, and not 5 meters, as in a spacious living room or improved bedroom.

The advantages that some types of stretch ceilings have:

  1. Gloss increases space and smooths out all the bumps;
  2. Polyester is moisture resistant, non-flammable and does not fade in the sun;
  3. The coating tolerates severe frosts and temperature extremes;
  4. The material does not mold and repels pathogens.

Suspended ceiling

How is this type different from the previous one? In short, everyone, because the main working material is not polyester fabric, but PVC panels or any other material, at the request of the customer. The installation process is thus accelerated several times.

The key advantage of such a system is the saving in height, which is especially important for typical high-rise buildings of the 80-90s model, where the ceilings are not too high anyway. The hollow structure of the panels and their specific arrangement make the whole system light, flexible and strong.

From drywall

Is it possible to do, and generally consider such an option? Yes, you can, but with a number of reservations, the first of which says that the balcony, like the apartment itself, should not be located in a region with high humidity, since it is the main enemy of fragile material.

You should not believe the manufacturer, who will tell you that it is his plasterboard ceilings that have exceptional moisture resistance and increased strength characteristics. All this applies only to moments with an accidental ingress of a small amount of water, and in the long run you still have to think about maintaining a dry balcony.

Of the unconditional advantages - a reliable frame made of aluminum slats, under which wiring is quietly mounted, and lighting is arranged, at least with decorative LED bulbs, at least a full-fledged chandelier, depending on the desire and means.

There are a few more cons, and they are not limited to sensitivity to moisture:

  • The need for regular painting;
  • Vulnerability to low temperatures;
  • Reducing the height due to the frame;
  • The need for putty, reinforcement and installation of skirting boards.

Excluding these shortcomings, it is drywall that is considered the most affordable and at the same time reliable material, the correct installation of which will provide many years of service.

rack ceiling

It is jokingly referred to as a bathhouse style, or a retro finish. Both names have the right to be, if only because the principle of installing wooden slats, or lining, is similar to the development of the interior of a sauna or bath.

At the same time, they forget a very important point - the slats are not only made of wood, but also of any suitable or desired material, including the same aluminum or PVC. The difference is only in the further installation process - open or closed type.

The first option is familiar to most - the rails are installed at a distance from each other, and the hollow areas create a characteristic "striped" pattern, inside which LED lighting is often carried out, including multi-colored ones. Some masters prefer to close the cavities with decorative strips, and holes are then cut out for lighting.

The closed installation method implies a “smooth” ceiling, but it is not suitable for non-standard shapes due to the laboriousness and unjustified use of a large amount of materials.

If it is necessary to finish the ceiling on the balcony, maximum attention should be paid to this work, since this room has a number of features. First of all, the material that will be used for decoration must be resistant to ultraviolet radiation and temperature extremes.

The ceiling on the loggia can be made in different ways: stretch or suspended, slatted, plasterboard, using polystyrene tiles or plastic. When choosing a material, you need to remember that it should be easy to care for.

The use of stretch ceilings for decorating a balcony

One of the current methods of finishing the ceiling on the loggia is the arrangement of a tension structure using fabric or PVC film.

This choice of design of the ceiling surface is due to the presence of numerous advantages:

  1. aesthetic appeal. Such a ceiling visually increases the space of the loggia, even a small one. A variety of colors and shades allows you to easily match the canvas to match other finishing materials.
  2. Continuous operation. Such a ceiling structure will last at least 10 years, and fasteners for it - over 30 years. After the canvas becomes unusable, it will be possible to install another one without changing the baguette.
  3. Safe operation. The materials from which the tension panel is made do not cause allergies and do not emit components harmful to the well-being of people.
  4. Resistant to external influences. If the material is of high quality, it will not change color under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, and will not begin to crack.
  5. Possibility to lay a heat and sound insulating layer. When installing the ceiling on a balcony, the gap between the rough base and the tension material can be filled with mineral wool, extruded polyurethane foam boards or foam plastic.
  6. There is no need to prepare a basic framework. The design will hide all the existing flaws.
  7. Possibility to lay hidden electrical wiring and install built-in lights.

The choice of fabric for the tension system

There are two types of stretch panels:

  • based on polyester;
  • from polyvinyl chloride film.

In the first case, the material perfectly withstands the temperature difference and is mechanically strong. True, canvases are produced in a limited range of colors.

PVC film cloth is matte or glossy in different colors. Photographic images can be applied to the material. The film has a serious drawback - it does not tolerate a sharp and frequent change in ambient temperature. A heat gun is required for its installation.

Given the complexity of the use of this equipment, when deciding which ceiling on the loggia is better, experts advise using polyester fabric, which will last longer on an unheated balcony.

Tension system installation technology

Do-it-yourself stretch ceiling on the balcony can be installed without the participation of experienced builders.

For work you will need:

  • a baguette for fixing the panel along the perimeter, plus a margin for creating corner joints;
  • level;
  • tape measure and pencil;
  • canvas of the required size, which is determined taking into account the area of \u200b\u200bthe room plus 0.15 sq. m. to each side to fill the material into a baguette;
  • putty knife;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • screwdriver;
  • dowel.

Before you make a ceiling on the balcony, you first need to lay the electrical wiring for mounting the lighting fixtures and finish the walls.

Installation is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. First of all, they check how firmly the old plaster is held on the ceiling so that it does not collapse on the tension panel.
  2. At a distance of at least 30 millimeters from the ceiling base, depending on the design of the built-in appliances, the baguette is fixed strictly horizontally. In this case, the dowels are placed with an interval of no more than 15 centimeters, and additional fasteners will be required in the area of corner joints.
  3. An embedded part is installed for mounting the main lamp not lower than the level of the canvas. To determine it, a cord is pulled between oppositely attached profiles. The embedded element can be made from chipboard or a piece of plywood, fixing it to a structure consisting of a metal profile.
  4. To fill the canvas in a baguette, you will need a spatula and the participation of an assistant. Do the work start on one side, and then move on to the opposite. Excess material is cut off with a sharp knife.
  5. In the marked places, holes are created for recessed lighting fixtures. To prevent excessive heating of the cloth, lining rings are used. After connecting the fixtures, they are checked for operability by turning them on.
  6. The gap between the panel and the walls is covered with a ceiling plinth.

To cut the profile of a baguette, a hacksaw is used, and to remove burrs, the edges are treated with sandpaper.

Finishing with polystyrene tiles

If the draft ceiling base has a flat surface, it can be decorated with polystyrene tiles, if desired, which has a number of advantages:

  1. Easy and fast installation.
  2. Affordable cost for many consumers.
  3. Good sound and thermal insulation properties.
  4. Aesthetic appeal, because after the installation is completed, the surface of the products forms original floral ornaments or strict geometric patterns.

In addition to tiles, you will need tools and materials:

  • level;
  • wide and notched spatulas;
  • construction knife;
  • sandpaper "zero";
  • primer;
  • putty;
  • water-based paint;
  • ceiling plinth;
  • glue.

Ceiling tiles on the balcony are glued like this:

  1. The base is treated with a deep penetration primer.
  2. A leveling putty is applied with a wide spatula to eliminate small defects. Then they use "zero" sandpaper - they grind the surface with it, and then again treat it with a primer.
  3. Before gluing tiles to the ceiling, you need to plan its layout. To do this, determine the center line.
  4. Products are glued on both sides of it, applying the adhesive composition with a notched trowel.
  5. The tile with the adhesive applied is pressed against the ceiling surface and fixed for two minutes. If required, it is cut with a knife.
  6. The joints between the ceiling and the walls of the balcony are covered with a decorative plinth.
  7. After about 24 hours, when the glue is completely dry, the tiles can be painted with water-based paint, and any color.

When making the ceiling on the loggia with your own hands, it is necessary to keep windows and doors closed on it while fixing the tiles to avoid drafts.

Plasterboard balcony ceiling

To finish the ceiling surface with this material, it is better to use moisture-resistant plasterboards. They are distinguished by green, and less often blue, and are marked. This is the most budgetary of the options for ceilings on the loggia.

Drywall finishing is carried out in stages:

  1. Light fixtures are wired.
  2. Next, a crate is assembled from metal profiles or wooden slats.
  3. First, the frame elements are fixed around the perimeter, and then the crossbars are fixed. The level of the crate is chosen so that it does not interfere with the installation of recessed lighting fixtures.
  4. Plates are cut out of drywall sheets, which will be used to cover the ceiling on the loggia. The places of their docking must be located above the transverse slats.
  5. To fix the plates, self-tapping screws are used, which are screwed in with little effort so that the caps do not break through the material, but are flush in it.
  6. The places of contact of the GKL are puttied, and a sickle tape is glued on top.
  7. After the primer, gypsum plaster is applied to level the surface, and then coated with paint.
  8. At the final stage, ceiling plinths are glued and spotlights are installed.

How to make a ceiling out of plastic lining

This material is not dangerous to humidity and temperature changes. Two types of lining are suitable for decorating ceilings on a balcony - seamless and seam. At the same time, the slats are sold in different colors and widths.

There is a certain sequence in how to make a plastic ceiling on the balcony:

  1. A crate of wooden slats is built on the ceiling surface, as described above. They are placed along the long side of the loggia with a gap of no more than 300 millimeters.
  2. A heater is laid between the rails.
  3. The lining is mounted perpendicular to the rails using self-tapping screws or a construction stapler.
  4. A ceiling plinth is attached around the perimeter.

Slatted ceilings on the balcony

Rails, which are coated with an anti-corrosion compound, are an ideal material for rooms where there is high humidity. In addition, the slatted ceiling on the balcony looks aesthetically pleasing, and the presence of a wide color palette allows you to implement any design ideas.

Rack systems are:

  1. open. In them, decorative inserts 14–16 millimeters wide are placed in the gaps between the slats.
  2. Closed. In this case, there are grooves between the rails that overlap each other.
  3. Gapless. Panels are placed without gaps.

Which ceiling on the balcony is better, the owner of the property decides individually in each case.

To create a rack ceiling structure, you need to purchase:

  1. Reiki - there should be no dents or scratches on their front side. During production, they are covered with a protective film.
  2. Guides 4 meters long, made of steel profile - traverses, combs, stringers.
  3. U-shaped profiles or corners for wall skirting boards.
  4. Adjustable hangers.
  5. Anchors or anchor wedges, dowel-nails.

From the tools you should prepare:

  • roulette;
  • level;
  • marker;
  • metal scissors;
  • electric drill with drills;
  • perforator.

Frame assembly sequence:

  1. In the lowest corner, determined using a level, 4 centimeters are set aside from the base base and the installation height of the hinged system is noted. If you plan to install recessed fixtures, this distance must be increased taking into account their parameters.
  2. Holes are made in the wall corner profile and fastened with dowel-nails to the wall, observing a step of 30 to 40 centimeters. Close to the corners, additional holes are drilled 50 millimeters from the edge. If the surface is lined with ceramic tiles, the attachment points are combined with the seams.
  3. Using scissors for metal, cut the guide profiles to the required size. They are usually placed along the width of the balcony. The option of fixing the stringers to the draft base depends on the level of installation of the system. If there is a large distance from the ceiling, stringers and suspensions are used.
  4. To fix the suspensions in the marked places, holes with a diameter of 6 millimeters and a depth of 40 millimeters are made with a perforator. By means of an eye, anchors or wedge anchors are inserted into the suspension and then driven in.
  5. The distance between the hangers should be 120 centimeters, and between the nearest hanger and the wall 35 - 40 centimeters.
  6. If, when using a wall-mounted U-shaped plinth, its top prevents the stringers from being fixed, the metal edge is folded up.

Installation of panels on a rack ceiling consists of the following steps:

  1. First, the required number of rails of the required length are prepared, which are installed across the guide profiles in the following way - they are brought in at an angle and then aligned until a characteristic click of the stringer latch appears.
  2. When the slats are in the right place, they proceed to the installation of decorative interpanel elements.

Suspended ceiling

Armstrong ceiling structures are mounted on balconies with a large area. The advantage of installing a false ceiling on a loggia is a large selection of cassettes, which can be in the form of glass inserts, pressed minerals, etc.

Armstrong ceiling systems are assembled in the following sequence:

  1. At the level required for the installation of luminaires, carrier profiles are attached to the base base using hangers. The spacing between them depends on the size of the cassettes.
  2. The corner profile is mounted around the perimeter.
  3. T-shaped elements are placed between the carrier profiles, as a result of which cells are obtained having a size of 600 × 1200 or 600 × 600 millimeters, depending on the shape of the cassettes.
Then, cassettes and lamps are installed on the suspended ceilings for the balcony.

Finishing the ceiling on the balcony and choosing the right materials for this is an important step that will give this corner a cozy and modern look. Not all materials are suitable for facing the ceiling, but their list is quite large. A detailed review of materials and technologies will help to understand the intricacies of finishing.

Requirements for materials for finishing the balcony

Unlike an apartment, the ceiling on the balcony is exposed to sub-zero temperatures, high humidity and direct sunlight. Therefore, the material for finishing the ceiling must be resistant to all these factors.

A material suitable for ceiling sheathing on a balcony should have the following characteristics:

  • do not collapse and do not deform in frost and heat;
  • do not soak from raindrops, condensate, possible leaks;
  • be resistant to rot and mold when wet;
  • when heated by sunlight, do not emit harmful substances;
  • do not fade over time;
  • fit into the overall design of the balcony decoration, without violating the harmony and unity of style.

The range of finishing materials that meet the above requirements is so large that at first the eyes run wide. As a result, a bright appearance or a low price can become a decisive factor when buying. This approach may turn out to be unreasonable, disappointment will come over time, and the ceiling will have to be redone.

What materials are not suitable for finishing the ceiling on an open balcony?

These include the following materials:

  • plywood, fiberboard and chipboard that do not have moisture resistance;
  • not laminated MDF panels;
  • drywall;
  • interior paint and chalk whitewash.

Under the influence of atmospheric precipitation and drops of condensate, these materials will swell, lose their shape and may collapse. On a glazed balcony, they can only be used if the ceiling is insulated - this will help to avoid condensation.

Paint on concrete slab

The most budgetary and fairly common way to finish the ceiling on the balcony. It is suitable for both an open balcony and a glazed loggia in the case when it is not necessary to change the ceiling level, install built-in lights or insulate it.

Finishing pros:

  • low price of materials;
  • no special skills required, easy to do with your own hands;
  • does not support combustion;
  • with the right choice of paint, it is not afraid of high and low temperatures, condensation, rain and snow.
  • looks pretty simple and unpretentious;
  • requires periodic repair and painting.

To paint the ceiling, you need to choose coloring compositions intended for outdoor use - they are resistant to freezing and sunlight. A good choice is facade paints for plaster, they not only retain the integrity of the coating for a long time, but also have a large palette of shades.

The technology of painting the ceiling on the balcony

Painting the ceiling on the balcony will require a minimum of time, money and materials.

You will need:

  • primer for concrete;
  • putty, in some cases - a cement-sand mixture;
  • spatula, coarse and fine-grained sandpaper;
  • facade paint for concrete, brick and plaster of the desired shade;
  • brush, roller and ditch.

Note! Paint consumption is indicated on the package. To obtain a more uniform shade, it is recommended to apply paint in two or three layers, this must be taken into account when buying.

Steps, No., illustrationsShort description

First you need to prepare the ceiling: clean it of old paint and peeling plaster with a spatula and coarse sandpaper.

The prepared ceiling is primed for concrete with a brush or roller and dried.

The surface of the ceiling is leveled: large gaps, chips are sealed with DSP, diluted with water to a paste-like consistency, small irregularities and seams are puttied. Sometimes it is necessary to apply several layers of putty, each of which requires complete drying before continuing.

After the putty and plaster have completely dried, the ceiling is once again treated with a primer and dried.

Start coloring. In order for the paint to lay down more evenly and not drip from the roller, it is poured in a small amount into a paint pan, distributed over it with a roller, wetting it evenly, and only after that the ceiling is painted. The first layer is applied along the ceiling slab, the second - after the first has dried, perpendicular to the first layer. The corners are additionally painted over with a brush.

After the paint has completely dried, you can proceed with the installation of fixtures, fixing skirting boards and other types of finishes.

Wood finish: board and lining

This type of finish is called a hemmed ceiling - it is performed by filing boards or panels to guides fixed on a concrete slab. The method is suitable for an open and glazed balcony, it allows you to additionally insulate the ceiling and level it in case of large chips and irregularities. The wooden ceiling goes well with the wood paneling of the walls. To extend the service life and give a shade, the wood is treated with paint or impregnations based on natural or mineral oil.

Finishing pros:

  • natural appearance;
  • environmentally friendly material;
  • moderate price;
  • simple installation;
  • allows you to additionally insulate the ceiling;
  • with regular processing, the material lasts more than 20 years.
  • flammable material;
  • at high humidity, wood is prone to rot and mold;
  • requires care and regular processing.

As a finishing board, you can use lining, block house, imitation of timber, as well as ordinary planed edged board. It is better to lay it across the ceiling - this creates a visual illusion of expanding the balcony.

The technology of finishing the ceiling on the balcony with a board

Materials and tools:

  • finishing board;
  • guides from a wooden block 40x40 or 50x50 mm;
  • dowels and screws or anchor bolts for attaching the bar to the ceiling;
  • self-tapping screws, clamps or nails for fastening the finishing board;
  • woodworking agent and brush;
  • perforator or drill;
  • jigsaw or hacksaw;
  • tape measure, square, bubble level;
  • marker or carpenter's pencil.

In the case of ceiling insulation, you will also need:

  • insulation boards - expanded polystyrene or polystyrene, thickness - according to the thickness of the guide bar;
  • cement-based adhesive;
  • dowels - fungi for additional fastening of plates;
  • mounting knife.

Note! Ceiling insulation is used to avoid condensation of water vapor. Condensation occurs due to the temperature difference on the surface of the concrete slab if your balcony is glazed and insulated, while the neighbors from above do not.

Plastic panels

Another option for a false ceiling is plastic panels. It is usually used on glazed balconies and loggias, because with a sharp temperature drop, plastic can deform over time. Plastic panels, like wood, allow you to level and insulate the ceiling, give it a stylish look.

Most often, this type of finish is used in combination with painted walls or when finishing them with plastic. As guides, you can use both bars and a galvanized drywall profile.

Advantages of plastic panels:

  • low price;
  • panels are light, do not create a load on the ceiling;
  • do not rot, do not collapse from moisture;
  • a large selection of shades, including with a pattern, allows you to create an original balcony design.
  • plastic is flammable, toxic when burned;
  • under the influence of bright sun, inexpensive color panels can change color.

Under the plastic trim, you can hide the wiring, and insert built-in lights into the panels themselves. This will create a cozy and warm homely atmosphere. Instead of plastic panels, you can use vinyl siding, the fastening technology will not change.

The technology of covering the ceiling on the balcony with plastic

In general, plastic filing technology is similar to wood trim.. The difference between light plastic panels is that you can lower the ceiling level more by using hangers and attaching rails to the wall. This technique is used on the closed balcony of the last floor, when the height of the ceiling on the balcony is much higher than its level in the room.

Required materials and tools:

  • plastic panels and ceiling moldings;
  • aluminum or galvanized PN and PS profiles, hangers, brackets;
  • self-tapping screws with a large hat - "bugs";
  • hacksaw and molding cutting template;
  • laser or bubble level;
  • screwdriver, drill;
  • tape measure and marker.

Note! It is better to fasten the panels with clamps or self-tapping screws into a wide mounting shelf, so their surface will remain undamaged.
