Most summer residents consider garden ants to be almost the most terrible evil and disaster on their site, and the fight against them becomes one of their top priorities. This is largely true. Ant populations are capable of causing enormous damage. And it is not for nothing that gardeners who have this problem are actively looking for recipes to combat garden ants using folk remedies, as the safest for both plants and humans. At the same time, do not forget that the harm and benefit from these insects are comparable. They help to preserve the structure of the soil, eat pests that destroy garden plantings, and thereby keep the balance in the ecological system. Therefore, finding them on the site in reasonable quantities will only benefit.

If you want your garden to be decorated with lush blooming vegetation and your vegetable garden to bring a good harvest, fighting ants in your garden becomes a necessity.

They try not to bypass these six-legged sweet tooth and berries: currants, strawberries, gooseberries. As soon as the opportunity presents itself, they eat ripe fruits, which clearly does not add to their love from the gardeners. Ants are not the best neighbors for newly planted seedlings: they gnaw young juicy stems and roots.

Any gardener knows firsthand about the harm ants inflict on flower beds and lawns. The violent activity of the six-legged ones often nullifies all the efforts of summer residents to ennoble the site. In this sense, these insects work like moles, even on a larger scale and at the same time contribute to the dispersal of weeds over the territory, depleting the soil and spoiling the appearance of lawns.

It is necessary to start the fight against garden ants if their number has exceeded reasonable limits and it became obvious that the harm from them is more significant than the benefit from them.

What to choose: chemistry or folk remedies?

When embarking on the warpath for the harvest, first of all decide how you will deal with garden ants: with the help of poisonous chemicals or improvised home remedies. It would seem, why study folk recipes, waste time making compositions based on them, when you can simply buy ready-made "weapons" in any specialized store and not bother too much. But the opinions of experts on this issue are contradictory.

Basically, all chemicals against garden pests are very poisonous. And although manufacturers of toxic substances are trying to reduce the level of their toxicity, the danger still remains, especially for children, pregnant women, the elderly and allergy sufferers. Of course, we must also remember about our smaller brothers - pets. By inhaling or licking the poison, they can get health complications at best. Chemicals are also harmful: if used carelessly, they can seriously poison the soil.

Nevertheless, professionals, in recommendations on how to get rid of aphids and its "owners", do not advise completely neglecting specialized insecticides. In comparison with folk remedies, experts are considered their more effective drugs and advise using both methods, of course, strictly observing the instructions for use and safety.

Popular home methods

There are a lot of folk remedies for garden ants in the garden, and it is not at all necessary to go to the store for them. Almost every home has at least one of them. Let's consider only the most affordable and proven ones:

  • Given the insects' love for sweets, you need to put bait for garden ants on the site: several cans of jam, honey, or just sugar water. Ants will crawl there to eat, and the owner will only need to periodically rinse the jars with boiling water, killing the arthropods.
  • Regular ant baking soda works just as well as poison. It is densely sprinkled with all the anthills found on the site. Insects will quickly leave their now unusable housing.
  • You can speed up the procedure if you mix soda and powdered sugar in equal proportions and also sprinkle on the anthill. Six-legged sweet tooth will pounce on such a delicacy, not suspecting that it is fatal for them.
  • Soda against garden pests can be used in solution. Two tablespoons are poured into a one and a half liter plastic bottle. l. soda, pour water and mix well by shaking. The solution is poured onto the anthill, sprinkled with dry earth and covered with polyethylene to prevent oxygen from entering.
  • Another very simple but effective way to remove garden ants using folk methods is to water the anthill to the very bottom with boiling water, warm lime, and urine from livestock.
  • It is known that some foods, for example, semolina, corn flour, millet from ants also help. Insects not only eat them themselves, but also carry them to the nursery to feed their fellows. Once in the stomach, cereals swell, and insects that are unable to digest them die. Depending on the size, semolina or millet from 2 to 3 kg is poured onto the anthill.
  • As in the case of soda, to speed up the process, cereals, flour or semolina from pests are mixed with sugar. For one serving of sugar, take 3-4 servings of other products.
  • Yeast has the same effect. A small amount of yeast is diluted in warm water with the addition of honey, jam, or just sugar. The saucer with the potion can be placed near the anthill.
  • Ammonia from garden pests is also used very often. It is especially convenient when you need to eliminate the entire anthill entirely. Before removing the ant "capital", the place where it is located must be dug deep. In the process of digging, add ammonia diluted in water to the ground at the rate of 1 part of alcohol per 100 parts of water, as well as ash or lime. Such a solution for trees will seem like fertilizer, and the ants will die or leave.

  • Almost all strong pungent odors help get rid of garden ants for a long time: the spirit of smoked fish, herring stench, the aroma of fragrant vegetable oil, freshly ground cinnamon. Arthropods do not tolerate these aromas so much that, having barely smelled them, they leave their old dwellings and never return to them.
  • Sheepskin treated with carbolic acid will also help drive ants out of their place. At a height of about 20 centimeters from the ground, the garden tree is wrapped in wide strips of chopped fur with wool outward. The strong smell of carbolic acid will drive away pests.
  • In the old pre-revolutionary newspapers, they often published extremely simple advice on how to get garden ants out with folk tricks. It was recommended to mix soot with ash, to cover the places of the earth with insects with this layer, then spill everything abundantly with a strong solution of salt water. It was believed that it would be possible to forget about ants in these parts of the garden for several years.

With an anthill, it is better to carry out actions in the evening, when all the insects return to their home.

Plants are enemies of garden ants

You can get rid of ants in the garden using folk methods by cultivating some plants. Such methods of pest control are good because they are absolutely safe, and green spaces will not only protect the garden from pests around the clock, but also decorate it. Moreover, we already grow and eat some of them everywhere. The main thing is to know which plants ants don't like and try to plant them in the most vulnerable areas of the garden.

Even the smell of some green crops has a panic effect on ants. For example, it has long been known that aphids and ants are never found on tomato and garlic beds. Experienced gardeners, well versed in what garden ants fear, wrap tomato tops around tree trunks. Roughly the same effect is obtained by rubbing a tree with garlic arrows. They can also tie around a tree. The ants will quickly leave and never return.

Tansy is a great natural remedy for annoying ants.

Black ants cannot stand the smell of herbs. Parsley, anise, laurel, tobacco, valerian, mint, tansy (pictured above), mustard, celandine - all these herbs repel insects. They can be sown in different parts of the garden and thereby protect plantings prone to pest infestations.

If there is a lot of grass, like tomato tops, you can spread it out on the paths. In addition, decoctions from these plants can be cooked and sprayed with the places of greatest accumulation of insects. And the stronger the concentration of the decoction, the higher the effect of use.

Preparing a herbal decoction is not difficult. A kilogram of fresh or dry grass is poured with boiling water and left to settle for 2-3 days in a dark place. Then, the resulting substance is filtered and boiled. When the concentrate boils, it is diluted with 10 liters of water, brought to a boil again and cooled. After that, you can start spraying.

The presence of garlic and parsley on the site makes the life of ants unbearable, and the benefits of them are twofold. Planting these unpretentious crops, we not only find an effective, affordable and easy way to deal with garden ants, but also always have fragrant fresh greens full of vitamins for dinner.

Boric acid from ants

Boric (or orthoboric, H3BO3) acid is colorless and odorless crystalline flakes. It dissolves completely in water and is widely used in horticulture not only as a mineral fertilizer and a seed growth stimulator, but also became a real salvation in the fight against ants, since it is a deadly poison for arthropods.

Boric acid against garden ants is one of the most effective remedies. Its disinfecting and antibacterial properties allow you to quickly and effectively destroy entire ant populations, and at the same time rid the beds of wood lice.

Since this substance only acts positively on the plants themselves, the easiest way to rid the crop of pests is to treat the places where they live with a weak solution of H3BO3 or to make an edible bait out of this chemical.

How to prepare an aqueous solution of boric acid

Using boric acid against garden ants in a solution is not difficult. The main problem in how to get rid of pests with it is in its preparation, since crystalline scales do not dissolve well in water, and the solution, ideally, should be absolutely transparent and without sediment. In fact, the process of dissolving BA is quite simple and fast. The main thing is to know a few little tricks:

  • 1 glass of hot water is poured into a small container and 5 g of boron powder is dissolved in it;
  • add 2 tbsp to the water. l. honey or sugar;
  • the volume of liquid in the container is adjusted to 0.5 l.

You need to water the anthill with sweet poisonous water. They do it late in the evening or at night, when the ants come to their "home". For greater effect, a little liquid is poured into flat containers and placed on the ant paths.

How to cook food with boric acid for ants

Boric acid alone will not work against garden ants. Since it has no color, taste or smell, it will not interest insects. Therefore, it is added to the "ant" food.
Consider folk recipes that will help you get rid of for a long time using boric acid from six-legged pests:

  1. Thoroughly mix minced meat (4 tablespoons), boric acid (10 g) and a small amount of salt. Divide the mass into small pieces and arrange them near the anthill. For ants, meat is a delicacy. They will definitely eat it or drag it to the anthill to feed their relatives.
  2. From three boiled potatoes and three egg yolks, make mashed potatoes, into which pour 10 g of boric acid and a teaspoon of granulated sugar. Mix the mixture well, roll up the balls and put them on the anthill.
  3. Any jam (1 tablespoon) and boric acid (10 g) are diluted in a glass of hot water. The sweet mixture is cooled and poured into shallow bowls, placed in the places of the greatest accumulation of ants. You can do without water: 3 tbsp. l. mix very thick jam with 10 g of BC, and spread this sweet mixture near the ant paths and around the anthill.

It makes no sense to increase the concentration of H3BO3 in baits. The specified amount of the garden ant repellent is enough for the insect to die almost instantly.

Boric acid from insects will work effectively in any case, no matter what recipe you choose from the above. When it enters the body, it causes paralysis in the ant, which leads to its death. Its effect is enhanced by the fact that the members of the colony most often eat the poisoned insect and also die. But remember that a chemical is used to make soft, liquid and sticky baits.

When killing ants with boric acid, do not harm the health of humans and pets, and wear gloves when working with it.

Methods for using boric acid from ants in the garden and in the garden are also suitable for getting rid of domestic ants, centipedes and cockroaches.

So, based on the above information, it can be seen that the old methods of fighting ants continue to operate as before, which will undoubtedly help gardeners to rid their area of harmful insects.

,

Numerous ants that live in gardens and vegetable gardens cause considerable damage to the crop, damaging the fruits, leaves of planted vegetables and fruit trees. If you destroy these insects with chemicals, you can poison the ground under the plantings. In the fight against the invasion of land by ants, an easily accessible remedy, which is considered to be ammonia, will help.

How to use ammonia against ants

The unpleasant smell of ammonia solution, ammonia has a detrimental effect on ants. Ammonia is not capable of accumulating in soil and fruits. It can be used throughout the growing season: from the emergence of seedlings to the maturation of crops, harvesting and the end of work on the site. The ammonia solution helps to destroy not only ants, but also aphids, which are their food.

Ammonia can be bought at the pharmacy as 10% ammonia solution

When there are aphids in the area, you should expect ants to appear.

Ammonia can destroy pests at all stages of their development: from larvae and eggs to adults.

For treatments against such insects, ammonia is used in the form of a solution.

To kill ants, ammonia is diluted with water.

Areas of concentration of aphids are sprayed with a mixture of components, it includes:

  • 50 ml of ammonia solution;
  • 10 ml liquid soap;
  • 10 liters of water.

Water for obtaining a solution of ammonia must be filtered or boiled in order to avoid the possibility of chemical interaction between hydrogen nitride with various components in the water.

How to process the beds

The competent use of ammonia will not only help get rid of insects, but at the same time enrich the earth with the nitrogen it contains. All this will lead to an increase in crop yields. Treatment with ammonia must be carried out when many round holes with ants crawling around them appear in the soil.

When many holes made by ants appear in the ground, they begin to treat the ridge with ammonia

Watering the ridges is carried out with an ammonia solution. To prepare it you will need:

  • 10 ml of ammonia;
  • 10 liters of water.

Water the plants at the root.

If you add 4 tablespoons of sugar to this composition, which attracts ants with a sweet taste, then trees are treated with this solution, and the leaves affected by insects are sprayed.

Plants are watered with a solution of ammonia at the root

Extermination of ants in a greenhouse, greenhouse

Ants love to settle in greenhouses, hotbeds, because there is a lot of food, humid and warm. Basically, these are black ants that destroy seedlings, plant seeds, contribute to the rapid reproduction of aphids in this closed space. If you don't take action, you can lose most of the crop. To effectively get rid of insects and not harm the plants, use a more concentrated liquid, which contains:

  • 2 tbsp. l. ammonia;
  • 5 liters of water.

This liquid is poured over the places of accumulation of insects and the tunnels of their advance.

Anthill processing

As a result of a large concentration of ants, anthills appear, increasing the acidity of the soil, destroying nearby plants. In order for the ants to leave the nest on their own, the places of their greatest accumulation are watered with ammonia. For this, different methods are used:

A hot solution of ammonia alcohol is poured inside the anthill

In the fight against ants, the following aqueous solution is also used. It is prepared from:

  • 1 tbsp. l. ammonia;
  • 10 liters of water.

This mixture is well mixed and used as a prophylactic agent every 14 days, watering the plants.

I had to personally deal with the appearance of a huge number of ants at their summer cottage. Getting rid of them was problematic. Part of the crop died due to these insects. Then about ammonia for the destruction of ants was not known. Considering the safety of this drug for plants and the detrimental effect on insects, its use is a very successful solution.

To increase the effectiveness of the treatments carried out with ammonia from ants, they must be performed in dry weather.

If ants run around the house, they spoil the appearance of the house, carry dirt around it, climb into household appliances, breaking it. Therefore, you need to get rid of them faster. This is not difficult to do. Buy pre-made insect repellents available from stores. They will destroy not individual ants, but the entire colony. But for the home, especially if small children and pets live in it, we choose a safe and inexpensive product that would not harm family members. Use ammonia to drive ants out of your home.

This is a simple and affordable way to fight ants, because ammonia can be found in every home in the first aid kit.

How to fight?

There are ants in your apartment. In principle, you do not use funds from the store, because consider them unsafe, do not use them in a kitchen where there is a lot of food. Then at home the fight against insects will drag on. To prevent this from happening, use not one, but several methods at once to scare off ants. Other insects do not like the pungent smell of ammonia. He will drive ants, and mosquitoes, and other midges away. To enhance its effect, use not one substance, but several:

  1. Ammonia... Ants don't like how ammonia smells. To scare away these insects, dilute one hundred milliliters of ammonia (1 bottle) in one liter of water. Don't be confused by the strong smell of ammonia. In half an hour it will wear off. Wipe with this solution all cabinets, tables, cabinets in the kitchen. You will not feel its strong smell, and the ants will smell it for a long time. Carry out such processing of the kitchen constantly until the insects are gone.
  2. Vinegar... There are other odors that these insects cannot tolerate. You can alternately treat the kitchen with a solution of ammonia, then a solution of vinegar. Take vinegar (9%). Stir vinegar and water in equal proportions: 1: 1. Treat all surfaces in the kitchen with it. To make the vinegar penetrate everywhere, pour the solution into a spray bottle, and spray it all the cracks, baseboards, behind cabinets, etc.
  3. ... After cleaning the apartment, wiping it with water with ammonia or vinegar, use cinnamon so that insects will finally lose the desire to visit your house. Ants do not like the smell of cinnamon, so they will avoid the places where you scattered it. Powder their paths, the places they have chosen. Buy whole cinnamon that is more flavorful than the one sold in powder form. Grind it in a coffee grinder and use it against the ants in the apartment.

Cinnamon is as unacceptable to ants as vinegar and ammonia.

Prophylaxis

If you have followed all the advice, the ants will leave your home. they do not tolerate strong odors. But ammonia does not destroy insects, but only drives them away. Therefore, the ants can return, especially if you did the cleaning not every day, but much less often.

If the ammonia is completely weathered, repeat the treatment of the room. And do not forget about preventive measures, because food scattered at home can attract uninvited residents. You cannot calm down, even if you managed to get rid of insects. They can return at any time.

  1. Hide food. Ants come to your kitchen for food, they have no other reason to live in an apartment. Therefore, keep the room clean. Hide sugar, jam, and other foods. Wipe down the table after eating. Do not leave dirty dishes in the sink; rinse off food leftovers immediately. Do not accumulate garbage, constantly take it out of the apartment.
  2. Set traps. If you observe insects, then determine where they come from in the apartment. It is necessary to fight ants at home using sticky traps. Most often they come through vents. To prevent this from happening, stick double-sided tape around it (at least 5 cm wide). Uninvited guests will stick to its surface, and some of them will die.
  3. Wet cleaning. Even inexperienced housewives know that the apartment needs to be cleaned from time to time. But you do not just wash the floors and bedside tables and other kitchen surfaces, but add ammonia to the water: for 10 liters of water - 1 tablespoon.
  4. Pet food. Many have cats or dogs in their homes. Sometimes capricious pets do not eat all of the food, leaving the pieces in the bowl. You can clean the apartment thoroughly, but you won't be able to get rid of the ants. they will be attracted by plates of dog or cat food. What to do in this case? Feed the animals a little so that they eat everything to the end, remove the crumbs after them. If you cannot do this, put a bowl of food in a bowl, partially filling it with water. It will be difficult for ants to overcome this water barrier, and they will not feast on pet food.

Insect control is troublesome and costly. But if done correctly, you can save a lot and get rid of ants with affordable and cheap means. The easiest way to deal with them is with ammonia.

If you notice the appearance of ants in your apartment or in the country, it's time to sound the alarm. These seemingly harmless creatures are capable of causing significant harm and irreparable destruction. Therefore, the effectiveness and speed of the fight against these insects depends on how quickly you react and begin to take the necessary measures.

Ants have started up in the apartment. What to do?

The appearance of ants in the apartment is an alarming sign. This indicates that they have already built a nest for themselves and are determined to share their home with you. There are many ways to get ants out. Some are more effective, others less. By the type of impact, they can be divided into several types:

  • deterrent;
  • physically destructive;
  • destroying in the nest.

Modern science has developed special means to combat ants, but they are not always effective. The fact is that insects can get used to and develop immunity to toxic substances. But from time immemorial, people have used various folk methods to get rid of small pests. Fighting ants is a rather complicated matter, therefore it is recommended to use several methods, combine them until the insects disappear.

You will hardly be able to destroy the nest physically. It is reliably hidden from prying eyes somewhere under the floor, in the wall, and so on. In addition, if you notice a line of ants crawling into a gap on the floor, you should not start active. It may just be the entrance, and the nest itself is located in a completely different place.

Chemicals

If insects have taken over you, and you have tried all the known methods, but to no avail, then you should use chemicals. They protect more effectively from ants and are suitable for dealing with a large colony. They can be made in the form of aerosols, gels or granules. Aerosols are not very effective. They destroy only a small part of the insects that appear in the area of action. Others, including the larvae, remain alive. The baits have a higher degree of destruction. They contain special substances that attract ants. Then he carries this poison to his nest, which poisons the rest of the insects. But it is better to use environmentally friendly methods, therefore it is important to know how to get rid of ants using folk remedies.

Sugar water

One of the simplest and most primitive methods of dealing with ants is a trap made with honey or sugar placed in water. Insects will react and crawl to eat sweets. But in this case, they will simply drown. This method is ineffective, since it can be used to lure and destroy a number of worker ants. The nest, uterus and other insects will not go anywhere and will disturb you in the future.

chamomile

A folk remedy for ants is chamomile, for some reason ants cannot stand it. Maybe it's the smell - these insects do not like pungent odors. Therefore, ordinary chamomile, which is sold in abundance at the pharmacy, can serve as a means of fighting insects. The advantage of this method is that the chamomile can be placed in the closet, among clothes, in the kitchen near dishes and food. Unlike various poisons, it is not harmful and toxic, therefore it can be used without restrictions. The disadvantage of this method is its low efficiency. In some cases, the ants develop immunity; chamomile may not work on them.

Garlic

A folk remedy for ants is garlic. It can also scare off ants. They do not like him, like chamomile. Therefore, try to rub garlic on the spots and routes of insects. Garlic repels ants well. But it is effective at the beginning of their appearance. In addition, the disadvantage of this method is a strong persistent smell that will stand in your apartment. If this does not bother you, then you can try.

Boric acid

If the ants have already settled in your apartment and feel like full-fledged owners, then the above methods will not be effective. You will not be able to overlay every corner of your home with deterrent substances. In this case, it's time to move on to drastic measures. People have always used boric acid to fight various insects. Ants are no exception. This acid must be mixed with something edible: dough, potatoes, egg yolks, and others. Next, you need to mold balls from the resulting mass and place them in places where ants congregate. In this case, hardworking insects take the “treat” prepared for them to the anthill, where they eat it by the entire colony and, accordingly, die. This method is quite effective. Its great advantage is that not only random insects that have found a poisonous bait are destroyed, but the entire colony from the inside (including the uterus).

Soap

A folk remedy for ants is soap, it contains substances that negatively affect the insect. They destroy the waxy layer on the carapace, leading to dehydration and death. It is enough to grind the soap and scatter it in places where ants congregate. If you find their nest, you can clean it with soapy water.

How to deal with ants in the country

In addition to our apartment, ants can cause a lot of trouble if they appear at your dacha. Here they will show themselves as real pests. The fact is that they enter into symbiosis with aphids, contributing to its reproduction. They feed on its secretions containing sugar, therefore they actively "graze" it. Also, ants like to arrange their nests under the root of trees, their burrows disrupt the normal circulation of moisture in the soil. Therefore, if you want to have a good harvest, you will have to start a war against the ants. To get rid of them, you need to know how to treat the area with ants.

Ammonia

Very often they use ammonia from ants. It is very effective. To eliminate them, it is necessary to make a solution that consists of ammonia and water. The anthill is treated with this solution. You should not be shy, the more abundantly you water it, the stronger the effect will be. If insects harm plants, then you can make a solution of low concentration and treat the plant itself - leaves, stem with it. This method of processing will not harm the plant, but it will be harmful to ants. As a preventive measure, you can water the plants with a weak solution of ammonia. This will help you prevent these insects from emerging. At the slightest appearance, use ammonia from ants. This is a simple and affordable way, because ammonia can be found in every home in the first aid kit.

Lime

Until now, it is a popular and effective method of treating the lower part of the tree trunk with a lime solution. This method is simple and effective. Lime is mixed with water and applied to the bottom of the trunk and the ground around the tree. This scares off ants, they do not bother such a tree. Sometimes tar is used instead of lime.

Boiling water

If the ants have already settled densely in your area, it's time to turn on heavy artillery. In order to get rid of annoying insects, it is not enough to scare them away or selectively destroy them. It is necessary to destroy the uterus and larvae. Then you will get your way. For this, you can use ordinary boiling water. The anthill must be stirred up along the entire depth, and then poured abundantly with boiling water. It is advisable to repeat the procedure after some time. This will kill the insects.

Ash

A simple and ecological folk remedy for ants is ash. It is necessary to take still hot ash (for example, from burnt leaves) and sprinkle the anthill on it. It is initially recommended to stir up the anthill. Hot ash will penetrate all entrances and kill insects. In addition, it will block the passage of air inside, thereby ensuring greater effectiveness of the defeat.

Smells

To scare off ants on the site, all kinds of means that have a strong odor are used. It can be tobacco dust, tomato tops, garlic, wormwood, parsley, black pepper and others. For this, the anthill is sprinkled with these means. This will scare away insects, under their influence, the ants will soon leave your site. Many summer residents specially plant ant-repellant plants such as parsley around trees. This has a preventive effect.

Bait

Ants in the country can be destroyed with the help of some substances, by analogy with apartment ants. Boric acid is often used for bait in combination with something edible. The ants take away the poisoned bait and carry it to their nest. An important aspect is that the poison gets inside the anthill, thereby destroying those who are hiding in the ground.

Forest ants

An interesting way to get ants out is to use forest ants. To do this, you can go to the forest, dig up an anthill with forest insects, bring it to your site and place it on top of the nest of summer cottages. Forest insects will drive out the summer cottages, and soon they will leave themselves.

If everything is clear with the ants in the apartment - you are unlikely to be able to get along, then before killing ants in the country, you must first determine whether they are pests. Not all ants show interest in aphids and harm your farm in other ways. If you decide to fight these insects, then it is better to start doing it early, until they fill the entire area. In addition, it is better to give preference to folk methods that use less chemistry, and use chemical preparations for ants in extreme cases. This will do less harm to you and the environment. Try to use several methods, combine. Repeat the procedure. After a while, you will forget about the little annoying neighbors.

Every year, gardeners and gardeners make a lot of effort to grow a good harvest. However, all efforts will be in vain if ants are bred in the garden.

They damage the plant:

  • foliage;
  • fruit;
  • root system.

Regular use of insecticides is fraught with soil poisoning. A reliable remedy in the fight against garden ants is ammonia. It frees you from annoying guests for a long time.

Ammonia is an aqueous solution of ammonia. The colorless liquid has a pronounced specific aroma. It is dispensed without a prescription in the pharmacy chain. It is used not only for medicinal purposes, but also in summer cottages as a cheap nitrogen fertilizing and pest control.

Ants in the garden: how they harm

Ants in the garden

Ants reproduce at a rapid pace. Ant colonies occupy a huge area. Their nests are not visible, which makes it difficult to resist insects. At the head of the colony is the queen, whose clutches reach thousands of eggs. The worker ants try to feed her and numerous larvae.

Because of not indifference to sweets, ants threaten supplies in the country and the harvest of berries and not only. To get building materials, insects make moves in wooden buildings.

To get rid of insects in open and protected ground, use:

  • boric acid;
  • Fufanon;
  • Muratsid;
  • Ant.

The drug "Muravyin"

Insects easily penetrate all parts of the garden plot.

This invasion has a negative effect on plant productivity:

  • digging underground passages causes damage to the roots, primarily in young seedlings;
  • the omnivorousness of ants leads to eating adult crops and seedlings;
  • when extracting nectar, they harm flower buds and their full disclosure;
  • fruit fruits, for example, apricots, plums, which are damaged by insects, become unusable, they cannot be eaten and stored;
  • the tunnels that ants make in the wood, cause its rottenness and open access to other harmful insects.

Ammonia (ammonia)

The principle of the drug

It is important to know how to deal with ants in the garden and vegetable garden with ammonia.

Ammonia is a productive agent in the fight against other pests:

  • bear and wireworm;
  • carrot and onion fly;
  • secretive proboscis.

Important! To prepare the solution, just filtered and boiled water. It will allow you to avoid a side chemical reaction. Ammonia must not be mixed with chlorine. They work with ammonia in a well-ventilated room and using personal protective equipment.

Benefits of the tool

The main advantages of ammonia, which determine the growing demand:

The effect of ammonia on ants

Ammonia (10%), which is in the home medicine cabinet, will remove ants from the garden plot.

Methods in demand

Watering the anthill

It is more correct to force insects to leave their habitat with the help of ammonia:

  1. A solution is prepared, which consists of 5 liters of water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia.
  2. Impregnate a dense material with ammonia: 1000 ml of water is required per 100 ml. Carefully cover the anthill. For reliability, a layer of earth is removed from above and polyethylene is placed. Ammonia amber repels harmful insects.

Special processing of crops

The plantings are sprayed and watered with ammonia. In a bucket of liquid, dilute with 10 ml of ammonia. The mixture is applied to the watering site of garden plantings at the root. She is a nitrogen fertilizer. To spray the seedlings, sugar is added to the composition in the amount of 3-4 tablespoons. Mix thoroughly and spray diseased cultures. The destruction of aphids leads to the elimination of ants.

Methods for using ammonia

The use of ammonia in the garden provokes a feeling of an unpleasant ammonia smell, but after a few minutes it will completely disappear. Insects will remember the scent for a long time.

Salmon contains up to 82% of nitrogen molecules of the total mass, which are suitable for fertilizing the soil. The yellowness of the foliage and wilting of plantings indicate a nitrogen deficiency.

Folk recipes with ammonia

A distinctive feature of ammonia when breeding ants and aphids is the possibility of using it during the growing season: from the emergence of sprouts to maturation and after harvesting. It is useful to mix shampoo, tar or laundry soap into ammonia to impart sticky properties and increase the productivity of the product.

On a note! To combat ants and aphids in the garden, 50 ml of the product, 10 liters of water and 10-15 ml of liquid laundry soap are combined with ammonia. Affected crops are processed.

Attention! Treatment with ammonia from aphids is required for at least 10 days; a two-day break will be required between procedures.
