Roller blinds are a multifunctional part of the decor. Unlike classic curtains, roller curtains take up much less space, require minimal maintenance, and most importantly, have no less light transmittance. But when purchasing this fashionable novelty, you should know for sure which size is right for you. Many people are faced with the problem: how to take the correct measurement? In this article we will try to figure out what's what with you.

How to take the correct measurement

First of all, it is worth noting that the size of the future roller blind depends on the dimensions of your window, as well as the shape of the structures on the double-glazed window. It is important to remember that the purpose of your measurements is to determine the future parameters of the width of your roller blinds, since the length of roller blinds is most often about 2 meters (which should be enough for most modern models of window designs).

Measuring the window

  • First, we measure the glass in width and height (along the sash). Knowing this parameter will allow you to determine what the minimum width and length of the future roller blind should be (for example, in the photo below).

It is necessary to measure the length and width of the window

    Secondly, you need to measure the depth of the bead (this detail is shown in the photo below). Knowledge of the data obtained will allow us to determine which roller blind system will suit us best. So, if the depth of the glazing bead is more than 1.5 cm, it means that the “Uni” type roller blind system is suitable for you. And if the bead depth is up to 1.5 cm (inclusive), then the “Profil” (profile) or “MINI” (mini) system is better suited.

Not only plastic, but also standard wooden windows are suitable for the above described manipulations.

Important advice: keep in mind that according to production parameters, the width of the curtain is considered to be its overall width, that is, the cornice or, figuratively speaking, a “tube” that contains a rolled curtain roll, and this element is always wider than the fabric itself.

Choosing a roller blind system

MINI system

MINI roller blinds are a classic model with a small shaft. Due to the compactness of the shaft, such curtains can be mounted directly on top of the sash. The fastenings are installed without any mechanical intervention, which preserves the integrity of the frame, and therefore its aesthetic appearance in the future. Even if the roll in such a curtain turns out to be longer than the height of the glass, the extra centimeters can simply be cut off.

A special metal strip and magnetic holders in such models ensure that the rolled fabric is fixed on the sashes so that there is no sagging. The magnets are attached to the frame using double-sided tape. The doors themselves can open in any plane.

The advantage of the MINI system is its affordable price and compactness, which generates considerable demand for such curtains. True, this model will not provide a high level of light resistance. There may be gaps on the sides of the glass through which sunlight will pass through.

The correct measurement for curtains of the MINI system is as follows:

  • Measure the glass for width, then for height up to the sash. Write the obtained data in millimeters. Add 30 mm (3 cm) to the obtained width values, and 120 mm (12 cm) to the height data.
  • Also determine for yourself where you would like the curtain control mechanisms to be located (we recommend sticking to standard standards - that is, count on the control chain near the hinges)
  • Select one type of fastening (screws, hanging bracket, adhesive tape)

Installation of curtains of the “MINI” system is carried out only on the doors.

UNI system

Quite a popular system, because it fits very organically into almost any interior, convenient and practical to use. Well suited for rooms where there are already curtains or tulles.

The roll is in a special plastic box and is controlled using a chain. This system takes into account the possibility of fixing the roll at any level. There is also a lock for the chain.

The structure itself is attached to both sides of the window sashes, where metal guides are installed along the glazing beads, along which the roll stretches when lowered and raised. Installation on a window opening is also possible.

The system in turn is divided into types UNI-1 and UNI-2

    UNI-1. It can be used regardless of the window structure, and also has an attractive appearance. This advantage gives it impressive popularity. If you wish, you can choose the color of the box in the same tone as the frame, which will provide a combination that is pleasing to the eye. A typical example of the UNI-1 system is a 200x175 roller blind shown in the photo below:

The measurement algorithm for this system is as follows:

  • The height is measured along the edges of the bead + 20 mm is added to the value (as a reserve due to the size of the cornice)
  • The width is also along the edges of the bead (nothing is added to the resulting value)

It is worth noting that due to the simplified design of UNI-1, friction of the lower part of the curtain (slat) on the glass is often observed, which leads to unwanted bevels, which means cracks are formed. A similar phenomenon is observed where the bead depth is about or more than 20 mm (2 cm).

  • UNI-2. A more universal subtype, aimed at eliminating the problems of friction against glass and bevel of the plank by allowing it to be mounted on any surface, regardless of the “relief”. Suitable for windows with any glazing bead depth, especially for those where it is more than 20 mm. Thanks to the U-shaped vertical guides, the curtain is always in a clear position and does not rub or become beveled.

The measurement algorithm for UNI-2 is as follows:

    Measure the width according to the external dimensions of the roller blind guides (you need to know at the front which model and what sizes you want to buy)

  • The height is also determined by the external dimensions + the box height of 70 mm (7 cm) is taken into account. Experts recommend purchasing a product with a height reserve of + 10-20 mm (1-2 cm), since in case of an error with the dimensions, the plugs are removed from the guides and cut to height.

Profil system

This system is suitable for windows with slightly thickened frames, rounded or shallow glazing beads (up to 1.5 cm in depth). The design feature is that it is mounted at a distance from the glass. The guides are U-shaped, which ensures good fixation of the fabric as it moves. The curtain is controlled using a special chain, and the fabric can be fixed at any level.

Correct measurements for this system:

  • We measure the latitude at horizontal angles from sash to sash.
  • The height is measured taking into account the size of both the glass and the entire sash that opens.

Installation of the “profile” system is possible on a window opening, on a sash, and would even be appropriate on a door.

Alternatives

If none of the types of roller blinds discussed above satisfy your aesthetic tastes, but at the same time you are not deprived of the desire to acquire blinds on a woven basis, then know that there is a way out. Its name is Roman blinds.

Even if you are not picky in your choice, and you also like the roller version, it is still important to note that for balconies, for example, roller blinds will not work well, given the traditionally large width of balcony glass and their number, but Roman blinds will come in handy here. True, plastic windows are suitable for the recommendations described below.

Considering the volume of such a curtain, it can be installed both on the sash and on the opening, and even on three- or four-leaf windows. The main thing here, again, is to take correct measurements:

  • Roman blind for the doorway. “Latitude A” is measured by the width of the fabric. Here you should know that the fabric itself of the finished product is 20+ mm (take this difference into account). “Height B” is measured in accordance with the length of the finished product (without additional calculations)

We take into account both width and height

    On the sash. The width is measured along the outer edge of the bead (again, we take into account the 20+ mm additional width of the product in relation to the fabric, and we also take into account the location of the window handle). Height is measured according to the height of the finished product.

  • For triple-glazed windows and more, Roman blinds are usually made to order, although some manufacturers already have ready-made models. Here the following are taken into account: the number of folds of the Roman curtain in height; as well as the results of measuring the lower and upper edges of the curtains at one level to the sashes of each window (so that the fastenings of the Roman blind rods are symmetrical)

On large double-glazed windows, the problem of curtain symmetry is very relevant

If some aspects of determining the dimensions and installing roller blinds are not clear to you, we recommend watching video tutorials and video instructions on the Internet by simply typing into the search: “how to measure a roller blind.”

Roller blinds are the most popular type of compact window curtains, widely used in offices and public institutions, as well as in apartments. Simplicity and conciseness, as well as the low price of such products, make them an excellent analogue to classic hailstones and curtains.

Roller blinds

In this article we will look at the design features and dimensions of roller blinds; you will learn how to correctly measure a window opening and choose a suitable curtain for it.

What are roller blinds

Roller blinds are a flat sheet of fabric attached to a shaft, which, when closed, gathers into a neat roll at the top of the window opening.

Such products, as a rule, have a compact shape, their length does not fall below the window sill, while the panel fits tightly to the glass, occupying a minimum of free space, which allows the window sill to be used for functional purposes.

However, there are also large roller blinds designed for panoramic windows. They are fixed under the ceiling and unfolded to the entire height of the wall, to the floor.

The main emphasis in such curtains is on their functionality - it is in rolled products that the most modern fabrics are used - blackout, dimout and “day-night”.

Blackout textiles, thanks to the presence of two reflective pads, ensure complete darkness of the room, while dimout fabric, on the contrary, transmits sunlight, but filters ultraviolet rays that spread heat, which guarantees a pleasant coolness in the room even during the hot summer.

Day-night curtains combine the advantages of the two above fabrics; such panels consist of alternating strips of dimout and blackout materials, the position of which can be adjusted, thereby setting the desired level of lighting in the room.

Design features of roller blinds

The roll product system of any type has a standard design consisting of:

  • The upper shaft, when rotated, the curtain unfolds. The shaft can be open or closed. In closed structures it is hidden inside a box fixed to the window frame. The cases are distinguished by a variety of shapes - they can be rectangular, oval and triangular, and are made of materials - plastic, aluminum, wood.
  • Vertical guides installed on the side edges of the window. They are necessary for uniform deployment of the curtain and for holding the fabric when the sash is opened for vertical ventilation. Guides can be heavy - from plastic strips, and light - from ordinary fishing line.;
  • Canvas with a weight strip sewn into the lower part.

Design

The curtain is controlled manually by adjusting the chain attached to the shaft.

You can also choose roller blinds with an electric drive, in which case the deployment of the curtains will occur automatically, using a motor installed in the box, which can be controlled using a remote control.

How to choose curtains according to window size

Rolled products, as a rule, are installed on plastic windows, so the standard sizes of curtains are oriented to the standard size grid of metal-plastic window frames.

To choose roller blinds for plastic windows, you need to know the width of the opening. The length of all canvases is unified, it is 180 centimeters, even if you need a curtain of smaller height, you will have to buy a standard size, and then adjust it to the size of the window by cutting off the excess, or simply use curtains without unwinding the canvas to the end. Large roller blinds are made to order.

The width of the curtains varies from 30 to 180 centimeters. At the same time, the width includes not only the dimensions of the canvas itself, but also the dimensions of the cornice elements protruding on the sides of the fabric.

You need to choose curtains by size depending on the method of fastening them, which also affects the measurements that you will have to make. You can install a roller curtain in one of three ways: on the sash (implemented only on the openable parts of the windows), inside the window opening, and on the wall, on top of the opening.

Let's consider how to measure a window for roller blinds for each mounting method.

Installation over the opening

First of all, you need to measure the window for roller blinds according to parameter F - the distance between the upper contour of the opening and the ceiling. You can install a curtain in this way only if the size of this area exceeds 70 millimeters, otherwise you simply will not have space to install the box.

  • D +10 cm.

An additional 10 centimeters of canvas width is necessary so that the curtain completely covers the opening on the sides and does not allow sunlight to pass through when unfolded.

All that remains is to measure the roller blinds in height - B. If the window is equipped with an internal window sill, then the length of the curtain can be arbitrary, up to the floor surface, while the protruding window sill limits the maximum length of the curtain.

Installation inside the opening

The dimensions of roller blinds for plastic windows, when installing the curtain inside the opening, require a more precise determination.

Inside the opening

You need to correctly measure the window for roller blinds along the internal width of the opening (D), this must be done with an accuracy of 1 mm, since an incorrectly sized curtain rod will have to be taken back to the store for replacement.

Based on the width of the opening, you need to determine the overall width of the curtain (taking into account the protruding elements of the cornice).

This is done according to the formula:

  • D - 2*N

N is the size of the free space required to install the brackets holding the cornice (depending on the width of the fastenings). Its minimum value is 5 millimeters.

Sash mounting

Roller curtains of the Mini class are installed on the shutter - these are the simplest products without side guide strips.

You can measure roller blinds on plastic windows when installing the curtain on the sash as follows:

  1. We determine the width of the glass - the width of the canvas should exceed it by 6 centimeters so that the fabric, due to the margin of 3 cm on each side, completely covers the window;
  2. Mini curtains come with standard mounting corners with a width of 2 cm; add an additional 4 cm to the width of the curtain and you will get the required overall width of the product;

Even the highest quality plastic windows let in rays of light, due to the presence of which the decor of an apartment or house gradually fades. One of the modern solutions that will look perfect in almost any interior are blinds. They reliably protect the apartment from light, perfectly block the sun's rays and create an optimal microclimate during hot hours.

Don’t despair when you have to choose window protection on your own. Taking measurements is not such a big problem; the main thing in this matter is patience and the right approach.

To take measurements you need to take a metal tape measure. It is this measuring device that will give the most accurate result. When taking measurements, you should make calculations as accurately as possible, without rounding to the nearest millimeter and recording the result that you get.

It is also important to understand that any window, even the most ideal one, has its own errors. Therefore, slopes need to be measured from several sides. It is important that the measurements are taken correctly, even if the frame is not perfectly rectangular.

We measure plastic windows for horizontal blinds

Those who want to purchase horizontal blinds should definitely measure the frames to calculate the correct size. Horizontal models are, first of all, one of the popular types of blinds that appeared many years ago. Their convenience and practicality have allowed many to solve the problem of window curtains. To measure frames for blinds, you must first decide how they will be hung.

So, if you need to install them on the opening, then proceed as follows:

  • we measure the height and width of the window opening;
  • after several measurements, from the obtained sizes we select those that are the largest;
  • to obtain accurate data, subtract 15 cm from the width indicator, and 1 cm from the height indicator.

The second way to attach blinds is to install them on the sash. This method allows you to leave the window sill free. In this case, it is necessary to measure the boundaries along the bead and measure the width of the sash, and in several places. Just as in the first case, you need to select the largest indicators, and then add 1 cm to the length, and 3 cm to the length.

Particular attention should be paid to the curtain control system. It is important that the entire structure is positioned so that the blinds control mechanism is on the side opposite the window handle.

Measurement for vertical blinds

Vertical curtain options can add charm and sophistication to even a simple setting. They are chosen for the interior, where it is necessary to hide the unevenness of the window sill and pipes. There are a number of tricks to consider:

  • as for the width, it should be a multiple of sixteen or easily divisible by eight;
  • There are two ways to install this type of curtains; the measurement technology depends on the choice.

If we choose the hanging method “in the opening”, then remember that the ideal room for such curtains is small. In this case, furniture can even be placed under the windowsill. Blinds take up minimal space. This option applies only to windows of perfectly even shape.

When measuring you should:

  • subtract 1 cm from the resulting width;
  • subtract 2 cm from the height.

The second way to hang vertical blinds is “on the opening”. In this case, it is necessary:

  • measure the window width and height;
  • you need to add 20 cm to the indicator;
  • if the blinds will be mounted on the ceiling, then the distance from the top edge of the opening to the ceiling must be added to the height;
  • if you need to attach the blinds to the wall, then you need to add 10 cm to the height of the opening and add the height of the structure.

Another popular model is roller blinds. They allow you to improve the atmosphere due to the fact that they take up a lot of space, and when unfolded, the atmosphere of the room becomes more comfortable. This type is also called “Roman”.

For such options, measurements must be taken depending on the method of installation.

If the installation occurs “overlapping”, then you need to measure in a certain order:

  • it is necessary to measure the window parameters - width, height;
  • then add 10 cm in width and 20 cm in height to the results obtained.

If you need to install curtains using the “in-the-opening” method, then we take the following measurements:

  • the width of the opening will act as the width of the cornice;
  • the height of the opening will be the height of the curtain when unfolded.

The only condition for such an installation is the correct shape of the window: if there is a skew, a Roman blind cannot be installed.

Another popular method is “day-night”. This is where the lighting is regulated and the following measurements need to be made:

  • the width of the curtain will be equal to the width of the glazing bead;
  • the height depends on the size of the window frame.

After measurements, you can add about 0.5 cm in height - they will be needed for the cornice.

It is important to decide how you are going to hang the blinds. If you want them to be located in the inside of the window opening, then it is worth measuring the distance from the soffit (window beam) to the window sill and its width. If you want to hang blinds outside the opening, the shape and size of the curtains may differ from the shape and size of the window.

Measurements for installing blinds in the opening

The basic measurement for such blinds is to take measurements of the width and length of the window. Values are taken in several places, since an increase is given for the curvature of the frame. About 1.5 cm is subtracted from the first measurement, and 2 cm from the height.

Installation over the opening

After measuring the width and height of the window opening, you need to add 2 cm to the first indicator, and 5 cm to the second.

Installation inside

Installation of such curtains inside a window implies the presence of the correct geometric shape and correct dimensions. The window should not have sashes. When measuring width and height, you need to take into account the size of the beads.

If you are not sure that you can handle accurate window measurements to install blinds, we recommend contacting specialists who will not only take the necessary measurements, but also give advice on curtains.

Roller blinds are a type of fabric window shading that replaces conventional curtains or blinds. They are chosen by adherents of minimalism in the interior; they complement a variety of types of curtains, knowing how to measure roller blinds correctly for the desired effect. Roller blinds require a minimal amount of fabric and take up little space, in addition they require a minimum of maintenance.

The overall appearance of the window depends on the correct choice of curtains. How to choose the right size for this type of curtain? What do you need to consider to make the right choice? It would seem that these are small nuances, but they affect the appearance of the window as a whole and the functionality of all devices.

In order to select the required size of roller blinds, you will need to measure the dimensions of the window. When taking measurements, be sure to calculate the width of the roller blind. The length, in most cases, is made standard - approximately 2 meters. This size should be sufficient for most standard modern designs.

For accurate measurements, the following recommendations must be taken into account:

Using a tape measure, we measure the glass in width and length (along the sash). The data obtained will help determine the design that is suitable for the window. It is also necessary to measure the depth of the bead. With a depth of 1.5 centimeters, the “Uni” curtain is suitable. For sizes less than 1.5 centimeters (and inclusive), you should opt for the “Profil” or “Mini” system designs.

The overall width is the width of the curtain. Therefore, the size of the tube on which the rolled fabric is attached will be the necessary parameter in measuring the width of the curtains.

Measurements of different types of curtains

In order to correctly measure roller blinds for plastic windows, it is necessary to study the features of each type of design.

Classic

The first step is to decide on the type of installation work, or rather where the classic roller blinds will be located: on the outside of the opening or inside the opening. You should get the following measurement values:

  1. Width (hereinafter referred to as “b”) from 0.5 to 3 m;
  2. Height (hereinafter referred to as “h”) from 0.5 to 3 m;
  3. Length (hereinafter referred to as “l”) of control is from 0.27 m and above (the maximum value is not established). The size of the control length should not exceed 2/3 of the total length of the assembled curtain.

Outdoor installation

For outdoor installation, the following steps will be required:

  1. Measurement b.
  2. Depending on the edge of the window sill, h changes. For the internal location of the window sill, the numbers can be at your discretion.
  3. b curtains minus 4 centimeters = b linens.
  4. If installation takes place directly to the wall, then the border from the ceiling to the fastening should be 7 centimeters.

Indoor installation

For the internal type of fastening (in the opening), the following measurements are taken into account:

  1. To calculate b of the canvas, it is necessary to calculate the difference between twice the distance from the bracket and the side bevel to b of the opening. The value should not exceed 5 centimeters.

Cassette curtain

Among the cassette types of roller blinds, there are Uni-1, Uni-2, Mini.

Uni-1

  1. To calculate b, measure the distance in a vertical position between the ribs of the beads. The measurement accuracy is up to hundredths of a centimeter.
  2. H is the distance between the ribs in a horizontal position. The side for regulating the degree of opening of the product is selected arbitrarily. Level h is an individual value, constituting 2/3 of the total length of the curtain.
  3. After installation, Uni-1 should be installed between the ribs of the glazing beads.

Uni-2

When making dimensional measurements, the customer’s wishes and the features of the window frame are taken into account. The location of the fittings (handles or hinges) is also of no small importance.

  1. For the value of b, the distance between the ribs of the cap is taken into account. 6.8 centimeters are added to it.
  2. The distance between the outer parts of the structure should be a couple of centimeters less (from 0.25 to 1.2 m).
  3. H for this design is the distance between the lower and upper points of the system plug (from 0.2 m to 1.5 m).

Mini

In the Mini design, mini curtains are installed on each window sash separately. To do this, you need to know the b value of the light opening. It increases by 0.4 centimeters to take into account the glazing bead and fasteners. All other calculations are similar. The side for the location of the control device is chosen arbitrarily. The chain for winding the fabric onto the pipe is counted as 2/3 of h.

The lock for the lower cornice is installed when the window sash has a tilt-and-turn mechanism. Thanks to this, when ventilating, the flaps will not hang over the window sill.

The clamp for the lower cornice has two types of fastening:

  1. magnetic, in which magnets are installed on screws;
  2. brackets on fishing line.

Methods for attaching the upper cornice:

  1. screws;
  2. on double-sided tape;
  3. on hanging brackets - for the sash.

Measurements for Mini roller blinds. The first step is to measure the width and height of the glass (up to the sash). 3 centimeters are added to the numbers for width and 12 for height. Next, the location of the control mechanism is determined. It is better if it is near the loop. Next, select the mounting method (screws or double-sided tape).

Mini curtains are installed only on the doors.

UNI

There are two types of curtains of this type - these are UNI-1 and UNI-2.

UNI-1

The type is suitable for different windows, with different design features. Very popular in modern design. The color scheme of the box can be easily matched to the color of the frame, creating visual integrity. Standard size is 200×175.

To select this type, the following measurements are required:

  1. 2 centimeters are added to the height between the glazing bead ribs for reserve.
  2. Width is measured in the same way without any additions.

Curtains of this type have one drawback - the bottom bar rubs against the glass, which leads to the appearance of bevels and even cracks. This disadvantage is especially evident when the bead depth is 2 cm.

UNI-2

This type is the most acceptable and universal. Mounted on almost any surface with varying relief. If the bead depth is more than 2 cm, then this option will be the most acceptable. Uni-2 curtains have guides in the shape of the letter “P”, which ensures clear fixation and absence of friction. The likelihood of cracks and bevels appearing is extremely low.

Measuring roller blinds to select the size:

The width must be measured according to the external dimensions of the curtain guides. To calculate the required height, the value of the external dimensions is added to the height of the box (about 7 cm). The most recommended value by experts is from 1 to 2 centimeters, since if an error is made, the excess can be cut off by removing the plugs from the pipe.

Profile

Before purchasing a system, the profile should be measured:

  1. b between the corners of the sash.
  2. h, taking into account the size of the glass, the sash that must open.

In addition to plastic windows, the “Profil” system is installed on doors.

Day Night

Roller blinds can be installed in various ways. There are external and internal fastenings, and fastening to the frame.

Required measurements for each method:

  1. For outdoor installation, b is measured and 15 centimeters are added to it. In the h dimension, plus 15 centimeters is added to the opening dimensions.
  2. For internal fastening it is necessary to take measurements at three points h and b. For height, the smallest values are suitable. If the slopes are angular, then the mark is the place where the blade is attached. For b, 5 millimeters are subtracted from the measured value, and h remains unchanged.
  3. Fastening to the frame is carried out by measuring b along the bead and h of the frame. The minimum distance from the fabric and handle should not exceed a centimeter. Marks are made directly on the product.

Summing up

Every missing or extra centimeter can ruin the appearance of the product and the room as a whole. Therefore, before measuring roller blinds for plastic windows, do not rush in your actions.

For those who live in Odessa, we measure roller blinds free of charge, provided that you place an order with us. If we arrived, measured it, and you said “we’ll think about it,” then such a measurement trip will cost 100 UAH (in Odessa). If you are still determined to order from us, then these 100 UAH will go into the cost of the order, and the measurement in this case will become free for you. Here on the website, the price is indicated for one roller blind made of this fabric, in the Mini 19 open system on a fishing line, which is attached to the window sash, or its blind part with minimum design dimensions, i.e. width 50 cm. This does not mean that a roller blind cannot be made smaller than 50 cm, you can make it at least 25 cm in width, but its cost will be calculated as 50 cm. The price changes every 5 cm in width. To find out the cost of curtains for your windows, you need to place an order on our website, indicating the fabric from which you want to make roller blinds for yourself, leave your contact phone number, and a manager will contact you and calculate the curtains according to your sizes. Call us at the numbers listed in the contacts section and calculate the curtains according to your sizes, or write a letter to us indicating your sizes.

Now about how to measure.

Let's start with the simplest system - this open system Mini 19 with fixation on a fishing line or magnet, you can do cable fixation (at an additional cost) and the M 25 system (they are similar). This system is suitable for almost all types of window profiles, and generally does not depend on the shape of the glazing bead (rectangular, shaped, rounded).

What sizes are needed? The most important size here is width. The width is measured as follows: the width of the glass unit + the width of the bead, i.e. we need the joint of the bead with the frame, where the bead enters the frame (from this joint on the left side to this joint on the right side).

In height, we measure the entire sash or blind part from top to bottom as shown in the figure below. These will be the dimensions of the roller blinds according to the fabric!

BUT!!! You should know that in a roller blind Mini 19 the fabric size is smaller in width than the overall size of the curtain by 33 mm. See picture.

It follows from this that on the window sash or blind part there should be a distance where the roller blind brackets can be screwed on without any problems. As a rule, such problems do not arise on a sash window, because There is always a place there, but sometimes problems arise in the remote part of it.

Let's consider the options.

Let's look at the right side of the window, that is, the blind right side. What we see: There is a loop on the left side and a slope on the right side. Our task is to place the roll between the loop and the slope. On the hinge side, as a rule, there is 8-10 mm left before the joint of the glazing bead with the frame, distance A. Sometimes it is less, but very rarely. After we have measured the size of the fabric for the roller blind at the joints of the glazing bead with the frame, it is still tedious to measure the size from the top loop to the beginning of the slope. If, for example, our size at the joints of the glazing beads is 50 cm, then in order for the dimensions of the roll to fit, we need another + 3.3 cm, that is, if we have a distance from the top loop to the slope of more than 53.3 cm, then the roll will fit without problems . If it is less than 53.3 cm, then we reduce the size of the roller blind, and we need to look at whether the fabric will overlap the glass. But this happens rarely, mostly everything is fine.

The next system is M32, designed for large windows, mounted on the opening or in the opening.

If you want to install a roller blind on a window opening, then you need the following dimensions:

opening width (from slope to slope) + at least 10 cm (to cover the opening with fabric 5 cm on each side),

opening height (from the slope to the window sill, or to the floor) +5 cm

If you want to install a roller blind in a window opening, then you need the following dimensions:

width - from slope to slope, in the place where the roller blind will be installed, height from slope to window sill or floor.

The width will be the overall size of the roll, i.e. size at the edges of the bracket, the fabric size in this case will be 35 mm

If you want to take measurements and install M 32 on large windows, then follow the instructions as for Mini 19, only here the overall size of the curtain is 35 mm smaller than the fabric size.

Closed system of roller blinds (cassette system) Uni-glazing bead.

This system is not suitable for all types of glazing bead!!!

Suitable for rectangular beads (angle 90 degrees), or the bead has a slight bevel, and the depth of the bead must be at least 12 mm.

What does the glazing bead look like:

If your glazing bead has exactly this shape, then the Uni-beading system is suitable for you. If there are deviations from what is shown in the photo, for example, the bevel angle is large, or you have a 2-chamber (3 glass) double-glazed window, do not take risks, install a Uni-sash.

The dimensions needed for the correct manufacture of roller blinds are the same as in Mini 19.

The width from the junction of the bead with the frame, to the junction of the bead with the frame, the height is the same.

Closed system of roller blinds (cassette system) Uni-fold.

The system is designed for installation on the window sash and its blind part where there is a non-standard glazing bead.

What is a non-standard glazing bead? This is a rounded, figured glazing bead with a large bevel.

How to make an accurate measurement? If we have a rounded glazing bead, and we need to glue a guide, then we need to look for a flat surface, and it usually begins immediately after the rounded or shaped bead enters the frame.

We measure this distance, essentially it turns out from the joint of the bead with the frame, to the joint of the bead with the frame + 3 cm (1.5 cm on each side), this is the so-called overall dimension along the guides, which is also our width. Please note that the overall width of the cassette is 18 mm larger than the overall size along the guides.

On the image X this is our width for calculations.

Another important point! on the handle side of the sash, as a rule, there is not this 15 mm flat surface, there is approximately 8-10 mm there; it will be enough to glue the guide, that is, on one side we add 8 mm (or 10 mm) and on the other side 15 mm .

Now with height. What makes this system unique is that the height can be made the same on both the blind part and the sash.

Let's look at an example.

In this figure, we measure the height on the blind part of the window from the junction of the glazing bead with the frame to the junction of the glazing with the frame - this will be the overall height of our curtain. We make the same height on the sash. Then, during installation, we use a level to transfer the line of the upper junction of the glazing bead with the frame to the sash, in the figure it is indicated by a dotted line, this will be our upper point of attachment of the roller blind.
