The first stage of the Moscow Central Circle will take place on September 10. The online publication site answered the most important questions about the new type of urban transport.

What it is?

The Moscow Central Circle is a network that connects the metro and radial lines of suburban railways. It used to be called the Moscow Ring Railway. The MCC runs near the Third Ring Road in the southeast and west of the city and in the middle between the Third Transport Ring and the Moscow Ring Road in the north of the capital.

The main task of the road is to shorten the path from one point remote from the city center to another. According to experts, the launch of the railway should reduce travel time by an average of 20 minutes, relieve congestion on the Circle Subway Line by 15 percent, and the city’s central stations by 20 percent.

How many stations will open on the MCC?

The ring includes 31 stations, each of which provides transfers to other types of public transport. 17 stations will be connected to 11 metro lines, 10 to radial railway lines.

At the first stage, 26 stations will be available to passengers, reports the press service of the Moscow Construction Complex, citing Deputy Mayor for Urban Development Policy Marat Khusnullin. The rest will begin work before the end of the year.

Until 2018, the connection between MCC stations and metro stations, radial railway lines and surface urban transport will gradually improve.

Where can I transfer from the MCC?

In total, with the launch of the MCC, Muscovites and guests of the capital can make more than 350 transfers, and travel time when moving around the capital will be reduced by three times.

Passengers will be able to freely change trains when traveling on the following routes: Metro – MCC – Metro; Metro – MCC; MCC – Metro – Monorail; Monorail – Metro – MCC – Metro.

There are also transfers from trains to buses, trolleybuses and trams. The surface transport schedule will be adjusted to the MCC schedule.

The intervals of ground transport routes serving the ring have been approximately 10 minutes since September 8. In the future, they are planned to be reduced to 6–8 minutes, so that passengers can almost immediately transfer from the MCC to ground transport.

Territory maps have been updated for more than four thousand ground transport stops, and 15 stops now have stations on the new ring.

It will also be possible to get to the new railway line by personal transport: special parking lots will be installed at 13 stops.

How to navigate the MCC?

In total, several versions of the MCC scheme have been prepared. On one of them, it is plotted on a map of the city with the designation of suburban railway lines, as well as metro lines, including the Third Interchange Circuit under construction.

In the second, the MCC map is included in the currently used metro map and is indicated there as the 14th metro line. In total, 50 thousand new schemes will be posted in the subway. The updated maps will also contain information about how long it will take to transfer from the metro station to the MCC station.

The ring stations themselves are equipped with navigation panels in Russian and English languages. Braille will be installed for visually impaired passengers. Also at each station there will be boards with train arrival times. Several of them will have “Live Communication” counters.

Where can I find detailed information about the MCC?

A section dedicated to the Moscow Central Circle has appeared on the official website of the capital's metro.

On new page Information about the history of the creation of the MCC and the modern Lastochka trains running around the ring has been published. Also, site visitors can familiarize themselves with the transfer diagram from the metro to the MCC and select convenient routes following.

Surely many have heard about the imminent launch of passenger traffic on the Moscow Ring Railway. But although the abbreviation MKZD in Lately sounds from all the irons controlled by the mayor's office, found in one place brief information on the main issues of interest to a potential passenger, it is not at all easy. I came across this when I was recently preparing a publication on this topic. Therefore, since I had to find and collect all this information (from the city hall portal, the websites of Russian Railways and the Moscow Ring Railway, and from messages from the city government-owned publication m24.ru), I decided to make a short review post about the Moscow Ring Railway as a whole and specifically dwell on what will change launch of passenger traffic along the ring for residents of Zelenograd and others settlements Leningrad direction.

First, a few words about history. The Small Ring of the Moscow Railway (that is what the Moscow Ring Railway was correctly called until recently) was built in 1903-1908. The road was originally intended for intracity and transit freight transport, however, at first it also carried passenger traffic, which was stopped in 1934.
They started talking about the return of passenger traffic to the Moscow Ring Railway almost immediately after Sobyanin’s arrival, and initially they called it much more early dates its launch. But, apparently, the project required a significantly more serious reconstruction of the infrastructure than seemed necessary at first glance, and its implementation dragged on for more than five years. They promise to launch electric train service in September 2016.

As you can see in the diagrams, the Moscow Ring Road has different distances from the center in different sections: in some places the road comes almost close to the metro ring line, in others it is a considerable distance away from it. There will be 31 stations on the Moscow Ring Railway, which will provide 17 transfers to 11 metro lines (including the future second subway ring) and 10 transfers to 9 radial railway directions. The issue of the construction of the 32nd station, Presnya, which is marked on some diagrams, is planned to be resolved later. I will add that one station, “Gagarin Square” on Leninsky Prospekt, will be underground - the rest will be above ground. I’ll also note that the names of some stops, in my opinion, are still floating around, so don’t be surprised if you suddenly find some inconsistencies in the diagrams.

In essence, the Moscow Ring Railway will become a ring line of the city train, integrated into the metro system. You can pay for travel on the above-ground ring with a metro ticket. At the same time, the transfer between the Moscow Ring Railway and the subway will be free for passengers if they do it within 15 minutes. Well, that is, apparently, both on the Moscow Ring Railway and in the metro you will have to go through the turnstiles, but if you did not go on a spree between them, the money (trips) will not be written off when you re-enter.
“Swallows” will be used as rolling stock on the ground ring. It is stated that during rush hours they will run at intervals of no more than 6 minutes, and in the future the intervals may be reduced.

Now, briefly about the transfer from the Moscow Ring Railway to the Leningrad direction. It will be carried out through the NATI platform, which until recently was the deadliest stopping point between Moscow and Zelenograd. The phrase “the train runs with all stops except NATI” in the minds of passengers meant “with all stops,” because no one stopped at NATI anyway. :) Now this platform promises to live a new life.
The thing is that 350 meters from it (if you count in a straight line), there is the Nikolaevskaya station of the Moscow Ring Railway. These two stopping points will be combined into a transport hub, for the construction of which the Moscow Urban Planning and Land Commission recently allocated a plot of 0.38 hectares. According to Moskomstroyinvest, in addition to the transport terminal, there will be areas for consumer services, public catering, and vehicle maintenance. I don’t know exactly what all this will look like. I can only appeal to pictures from the Moscow Ring Railway website, the relevance of which I am not sure.

The TPU scheme, for example, dates exactly from 2013 - perhaps something has changed in the plans since then.

I also don’t know what the situation is with the construction, but I seriously doubt that by September there will be such a healthy transport hub building with transitions there, because the message about the allocation of land for construction was only a few months ago. However, no matter when and in what form this transport hub is built, the opportunity to transfer from NATI to the Moscow Ring Railway should appear in September of this year. This means that Zelenograd residents (and our neighbors in the Leningrad direction) will have new options for laying routes to many districts of Moscow.

Reconstruction of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) - unique project not only for Moscow, but also for Russia as a whole. The MCC has become a full-fledged light metro, integrated into the metro system.

The MCC map is included in the capital's metro map. It says approximate time ground transfers from the MCC.

In addition, the diagram indicates possible transfers from the MCC to ground urban transport, traffic intervals, etc.

Traffic around the ring was launched on September 10, 2016. This gave a new impetus to the development of abandoned industrial areas of the capital, and also made it possible to cut the Gordian knot of transport problems hanging over the capital.

The Moscow Central Circle is the road to the future. Thanks to the ring, trips around the capital take an average of 20 minutes. Another unique feature of the MCC was that it connected the capital’s garden and park ensembles: the Mikhalkovo estate, Botanical Garden, the territory of VDNKh and National Park Losiny Island, Vorobyovy Gory nature reserve and others.

MCC is a new life for industrial zones of Moscow

Since 1908, the Moscow Central Circle served industrial zones and mainly performed the function of transporting goods. However, over time, many industrial areas around this ring fell into disrepair, and some industries closed. A number of industrial zones in best case scenario were used for warehouses. Now these territories are being actively reorganized, housing with social facilities is being built here, sport complexes etc. And developing territories require convenient transport connections.

The launch of passenger traffic on the MCC resolves the issue transport support industrial zone In addition, the ring connected suburban trains and electric trains that go to the city center with MCC stations. Passengers can, before reaching the city center, transfer to MCC trains and move further throughout almost the entire territory of Moscow.

All MCC stations were built as transport hubs (TPU). They will include offices, shopping malls, shops and cafes. This concept meets both the interests of investors, for whom it is important to recoup investments in construction, and the needs of citizens.

    General information MCC

Moscow Ring Railway (MCR) one of the largest infrastructure projects of the Moscow government, implemented in the shortest possible time, allowing to significantly reduce the load on the Moscow metro and the city’s transport system as a whole

The MCC is essentially the second ring metro line with a unified tariff ticket system of the Moscow Metro. 31 stations (TPU) were built on the MCC. From any transport hub it is possible to transfer to ground urban passenger transport.

At 17 out of 31 stations it is possible to change to 11 metro lines. Also, at 10 transport hubs you can transfer to commuter trains.

The rolling stock on the MCC is represented by high-speed electric trains "Lastochka" manufactured by Siemens AG. Trains consist of 5 cars.
Operation of the electric train is possible at temperatures environment from −40°C to +40°C. The cars are equipped double doors lean-and-slide type, two on each side of the car.

The electronics of the cars contain built-in lighting, loudspeakers, and digital information displays. To recharge mobile devices, there are built-in shelves for hand luggage electrical sockets, designed for 220v AC voltage.

The head carriages of the train have bathrooms with dry toilets.(one per carriage), the bathrooms are equipped with special equipment for people with limited mobility.
There are 28 Lastochka high-speed electric trains running on the MCC. The train moves almost silently and can accelerate to 120 kilometers per hour. During peak hours, trains run every six minutes, at other times - at intervals of 11–15 minutes. The total duration of the trip around the ring is about 75-85 minutes.

    Technologies

    "Smart" escalators with motion sensors

Energy-saving escalators have been installed on the Moscow Central Circle (MCC). Smart escalators start moving only when passengers approach them. Accordingly, if there are no passengers on the escalator, it automatically slows down and stops.

    Opening doors “On demand”

Doors on trains open at the request of passengers. The doors open only when the train is completely stopped on the platform, and only when the doors are ready to open, and a special green signal lights up.

On the outside and inner sides There are special stickers on the doors informing you that before entering or exiting, you must press the corresponding button to open the doors.

Thermal curtain / Climate control system

In cold weather, electric trains on the Moscow Central Circle will turn on the lights on the doors thermal curtain. The thermal curtain turns on automatically at stops, when the doors are opened.

“Warm air is exhausted directly in front of the doors in the car, creating a thermal curtain and preventing cold air from entering inside,” the press service of JSC Russian Railways.

The thermal curtain will protect the carriage from sudden temperature changes and will be able to maintain a comfortable temperature for passengers at any time of the year.

MCC cars are equipped with automatic system heating, which turns on when the ambient temperature drops below the air temperature in the train. An antibacterial air disinfection system is integrated into the climate control of trains, which will protect passengers from all kinds of infections and viruses in the carriages, which is undoubtedly a relevant technology. solution for public transport
