Before you decide what corrugated sheeting is needed for the fence, the following factors should be taken into account:

  • site location;
  • tasks assigned to the fence.

When the question of what corrugated sheet use for the fence, size (namely the length of the sheet) matters.

Fence made of corrugated sheets with stone pillars

If the garden area is internal, that is, surrounded by other areas of the garden partnership or cottage community, its fencing experiences less wind loads.

A low fence will allow you to demonstrate to others the latest achievements in the field of agriculture and landscape design. But at the same time, the neighbors will be able to see fashion shows in swimsuits on a hot summer day.

Extreme, isolated areas or areas bordering highways require increased protection from wind, sand, and debris. A high fence is more suitable for those who live by the principle “my home is my castle.” In addition, it is a good soundproofing barrier.

When using excessively thick metal, corrugated sheet metal for a fence will require unreasonably high financial costs: both for the sheets themselves and for reinforced load-bearing structures.

Taking measurements

Optimal for arranging fencing is wall corrugated sheeting with a corrugation height of 8 to 20 mm. The metal thickness in such products starts at 0.4 mm.

The specimens available on the market with a thickness of 0.35 mm or less are not able to withstand severe wind loads and are often made from low-quality raw materials. Practice shows: use corrugated sheet similar quality for the fence- means just throwing money away.

Solid fence made of corrugated sheets

“Metal thickness” and “corrugation height” are parameters using which we select a material with the required characteristics: strength, weight, cost.

There are also indirect signs that, without measuring instruments, make it possible to understand what kind of corrugated sheet is needed to you for the fence dreams, and which one is better to bypass:

  • smooth surface without dents;
  • stability of sheet dimensions;
  • uniform shade of the front covering and the absence of any damage (scratches, chips, abrasions);
  • neat cuts without nicks or burrs.

It is quite problematic to fully verify the decent quality of the profiled sheet on your own. To do this, you need to equip yourself with special instruments that allow you to evaluate the thickness of the metal and paint coating (micrometer, thickness gauge), and measure the parameters of sheets randomly taken from several packages over their entire area. But even this will not allow us to establish the true quality of the metal hidden under the finishing layer of polymer.

When solving the problem of which corrugated sheet to choose for a fence, you must definitely remember about the aesthetic component. After all, a modern fence is not only a fence, but also a decoration of the site.

A little about the finishing coat

If the protective properties of the fence primarily depend on the metal used (its quality, thickness, shape), then the protection of the thin-sheet steel itself from corrosion processes is assigned to the polymer coating.

Which corrugated sheet is better use for the fence depending on the type of polymer coating? Here you can follow several recommendations.

  • Polyester as a finishing coating is suitable for fences that do not experience serious mechanical loads and are located in areas with low corrosive aggressiveness of the environment.
  • It is better to give preference to coatings with increased resistance to mechanical loads when choosing corrugated sheeting for a fence exposed to stones and sand flying out from under the wheels of a car, tree branches and shrubs.
  • Enhanced corrosion protection will not interfere with any metal, but is vital for fences operated in regions with high annual rainfall, located near the sea or characterized by a high concentration of industrial enterprises.

Fortunately, modern coatings combine a whole range of different performance properties. In addition to the above, the most relevant are color resistance to ultraviolet radiation and decorative characteristics such as shades, patterns, textures.

Deciding which corrugated sheeting to use for a fence can turn into a whole epic of studying the types of material, its characteristics, and samples available on the market. But there is a much simpler way that allows you to make the choice as accurate as possible and the purchase budget to be minimal: Metal Profile Company specialists will help you choose inexpensive material from the manufacturer. And it will always be material of guaranteed high quality, regardless of the price category.

A fence is not only protection from unwanted guests, but also an element of decor for a country house or cottage. The fence can be erected from any material that is available on the construction market. But it all comes down to the price of the question - what to prefer: expensive and high quality, or high quality, but economical, or for a short time, not very high quality, and most importantly - inexpensive.

For the owner of a country house who wants to emphasize his status, a fence made of stone or timber is preferable; fences made of concrete, boards or metal profiles are more suitable for a cottage.

And then the next question arises - what kind of corrugated sheeting is needed for a fence? To make the right choice, each owner of a cottage or country house must take into account many parameters of what corrugated sheeting is needed for his own fence: strength (metal thickness, corrugation height), durability and durability of the coating (type of coating and its thickness), color (must be harmoniously combined with house design), as well as the dimensions of the fence to calculate the number of sheets.

The best corrugated sheet will be the one that meets the requirements in all respects and has the most attractive price.

First of all - quality

When choosing metal for a fence, many buyers pay attention to its appearance and price, without really thinking about the quality of the raw materials, but what corrugated sheeting is needed for a fence needs to be understood even before visiting a building materials store. And as a result, it may turn out that in a year or two rusty spots will begin to appear on the metal, the coating will peel off, the color will fade, then it will become clear what kind of corrugated sheeting was actually needed for the fence.

A low-quality metal profile may lose its presentable appearance long before the end of its service life.

Let us once again dwell on the characteristics of a metal profile, which should be taken into account when choosing, so that the fence does not cause any problems for many years:

  1. Quality of metal and its thickness (manufacturer and grade of steel sheet)
  2. Profile type (corrugation height, working sheet width).
  3. Type of coverage.

The basis of any profiled sheet is thin rolled steel, which undergoes hot-dip galvanizing, and then a complex technological process of passivation, priming, and application of a finishing coating, which can be single-sided or double-sided.

For example, a paint layer can be applied on one side and a polymer coating on the other (polyester, plastisol, PVDF, pural, Printech or others).

Thus, high strength and resistance of the metal to corrosion, ultraviolet radiation, and atmospheric influences are achieved; depending on the coating, such qualities as noise insulation, frost resistance, immunity to aggressive environments and mechanical damage appear.

Experts believe that the thickness of a profiled sheet is proportional to its service life, so every 0.1 mm corresponds to 5 years of service. Therefore, it is hardly worth exchanging for metal less than 0.5 mm.

If you take a serious approach to choosing corrugated sheeting so that the fence made from it lasts for a really long time, then you should first of all inquire about the material from which the corrugated sheet is made.

The highest quality metal is (galvanized steel with a thickness of at least 0.5 mm) from European manufacturers Myriad (France), Voest Alpine (Austria), Arcelor (Luxembourg), Salzgitter (Germany), Ruukki (Finland). These profiled sheets are always in the “elite” category and their cost is quite high, but when buying such metal, you can always be sure that it really meets the stated characteristics.

Russian-made steel (NLMK, MMK, Severstal), even with the stated 0.5 mm, always turns out to be thinner, which, however, does not contradict the current GOST, which allows for a slight reduction in the thickness of the metal and the zinc layer. Steel produced by Tata Steel (Turkey), ArcelorMittal (Poland, Slovakia), and Korean manufacturers also falls into approximately the same price category - “standard”. The worst option is to buy corrugated sheets made from Chinese galvanized steel. Its thickness, as a rule, is declared to be 0.38, but in reality sometimes does not reach 0.34 mm.

Such a profiled sheet will look more like thick foil rather than metal. Rolls of metal with minimal thickness and a layer of zinc belong to economy-class raw materials, but today they are in demand on the market and therefore such corrugated sheets can only be used for the construction of temporary buildings.

No less important is the machines on which the profile is bent. Old equipment often malfunctions and the profile is defective. When purchasing, you should check the entire purchased lot for possible defects.

The next parameter is the zinc layer. According to GOST, a high-quality coating should be up to 275 g/m2, but in reality it is often 180, 140, 100, and on Chinese-made sheets it is 80 or even 60 g/m2. This indicator is important, since galvanization is the main anti-corrosion coating that guarantees the durability of the metal profile.

All the necessary data can be found by asking the seller for a certificate, which the manufacturer must provide.

The decision about which profile to purchase and install on the fence is yours. The main thing when buying is to stick to the “golden mean” - the optimal thickness of the fence sheets is from 0.4 mm to 0.7 mm, and the zinc coating is at least 140-180 g/m2; experts do not recommend going below these parameters.

At the same time, purchasing 1.2 mm thick corrugated sheets is impractical, since the cost of such sheets will be much higher, and this will not increase the strength of the structure. While there is no single criterion for the quality of rolled products that is accessible and understandable to the common buyer, you should choose a manufacturer with a good reputation.

Selecting the type of profile for the fence

When deciding what kind of corrugated sheeting is needed for the fence, let’s focus on the type of profile. In this case, one of the main characteristics is the height of the wave (corrugation, profile) and its shape and working width of the sheet. For fences, a wall (letter marking C) or a load-bearing wall (marking CH) with a corrugation height of 8, 10, 13 15, 18, 20, 21, 25 mm is most often used. When choosing which corrugated board you need for a fence, pay attention first queue for marking.

The higher the corrugation, the smaller the working plane will be, which means that a larger number of sheets will be required for the fence. Profiles C8 and C10 are characterized by the largest working width - 1150 mm; for other standard sizes of fence profiles it is reduced to 1100 mm.

The shape of the corrugation and its height affect the strength of the sheet; the height of the profile forms a stiffener and provides resistance to loads. The C8 profiled sheet has the lowest corrugation and minimal resistance to wind loads.

The construction market offers corrugated sheeting with three types of corrugation:

  • “wave” (in the form of a smooth sinusoid, reminiscent of a slate profile);
  • “trapezoid” (trapezoidal profile is the most rigid);
  • “cassette” (U-shaped rectangular corrugation).

Many people are interested in the weight of a corrugated sheet. It depends on several parameters (metal thickness, corrugation height), but the standard weight per square meter of profiled sheet varies from 4.2 to 12 kg.

In terms of cost, the most budget option is galvanized wall corrugated sheets without coatings.

Sometimes the marking of a profiled sheet contains additional letter indices that come after the indicated wave height, for example C20A (B, K). The letter A indicates that the profiled sheet on the front side has a polymer coating painted in a color according to the RAL catalog. Index B indicates double-sided coating, and index K indicates the presence of an additional stiffener.

Selecting the type of coverage

When deciding on the type of corrugated sheeting and what kind of corrugated sheeting is needed for the fence, please note that there are several types of coatings - zinc, aluzinc, paint and polymer coatings.

Let's consider their features when choosing what kind of corrugated sheeting will be needed for the fence:

  1. Hot galvanized. Applying a layer of zinc is the most reliable anti-corrosion protection for metal; a high-quality profiled sheet contains at least 140 g of zinc per m2.
  2. Aluzinc is a coating that is superior in its protective qualities to zinc and is much stronger and more durable.
  3. Paint and varnish coatings. The galvanized sheet is covered with a layer of paint or varnish, after which a film is formed, which provides additional protection against corrosion and an attractive appearance. The coating is not as durable as polymer. Easily scratched.
  4. Polymer coatings. Each coating has its own properties, color palette and standard of coating thickness.
  • polyester (gloss) - belongs to the “economy” class of coatings, standard layer thickness is 25 microns;
  • matte polyester - is a type of regular polyester, has a standard thickness of 35 microns;
  • plastisol (PVC) is a decorative polymer that contains PVC and several plasticizers, the coating thickness is 200 microns; Resistant to mechanical damage and atmospheric influences. The surface has a textured pattern like leather (shagreen) or streaked (birch bark).
  • pural (PRIZMA) is a new coating based on polyurethane with the addition of polyamide and acrylic. The thickness of the coating is 50 microns of polyurethane. It has excellent resistance to chemically aggressive environments and fading.
  • PVDF (PVF2) - consists of 20% acrylic and 80% polyvinyl fluoride, has a standard thickness of 20-40 microns. Resistant to temperature changes, ultraviolet radiation, and aggressive environments, suitable for use on sea coasts, and does not fade.
  • Printech® is an innovative coating that imitates the texture of various natural materials (wood, brick, stone) and has exceptional decorative properties. The coating thickness is 30-35 microns, applied using offset engraving printing on polyester (10-year warranty) or PVDF (20-year warranty). Withstands exposure to 5% solutions of acids and alkalis, salt water, weatherproof, impact resistant.

In the complex prioritization of building a fence, temporary or permanent, deciding which corrugated sheeting is best for a fence depends on many components. The differentiation of fencing an industrial area from a permanent fence made of corrugated sheets consists of parameters that are used for different purposes. The peculiarity of this type of fencing is its ability to sail.

Fence made of corrugated sheets

To avoid this phenomenon, they take into account not only the thickness of the sheet. Of great importance is the strength of the corrugated fence posts, the transverse fasteners, and the height of the planned construction.

In recent years, it has become a popular trend to install a fence made of corrugated sheets not only as a temporary fence, as was previously the case. Fencing a large area does not seem to many developers to be as budget-friendly an option as it used to be. And many construction companies first calculate which fence is cheaper.

For industrial needs, you need a simpler and cheaper option. Estimators invest in the calculations material that is more affordable in cost, without taking into account the specific features of pricing.

Capital fence

A common mistake in this case is to look for a cheaper means of delimiting land plots.

And you need to look not for which one is cheaper and less expensive, but which corrugated sheeting for the fence is better.

The main reliability parameter under adverse weather conditions, often more pronounced in open space, is thickness. The denser the metal profile, the less likely it is to damage even a temporary structure for which a foundation is not provided.

Brief characteristics

In temporary fencing of a construction area, its stability depends on:

  • the pipe that it was decided to use for the fence (the exact pipe that economical calculations provided for may determine the lack of even minimal stability for the required short period of time);
  • The height of the corrugated sheeting is of no small importance (the greater the likelihood of a collapse by the wind if it is insufficiently secured and the pillars are not secured);
  • tearing off the profile is often associated with incompetence in deciding which screws to use to attach the corrugated sheet to the fence, but even for this purpose they do not use high-quality fasteners, but those that are cheaper;
  • a correctly poured foundation gives reliability to even the thinnest sheet of material used, but everything again comes down to financing and budgeting;
  • to do even without taking into account that there must be a strictly prescribed distance between, means dooming the structure in advance to collapse and swaying;
  • even the highest quality fence pipe made of corrugated sheets will not hold it if it is not deepened enough and reinforced poorly;
  • in the choice of building material, of course, is important, but much more important is the coating that protects the metal from damage;
  • It is better to make a fence soundly right away: this will save money that will be required to restore it if it falls.

Wall option

Private landowners who choose to install corrugated board on the fence approach the problem more responsibly. Buying very expensive material used for a solid roof is both expensive and troublesome to install, but C8 corrugated sheeting is an excellent option.

Carrier sheet

pros

Recently, metal profiles are increasingly being chosen not as cheap and simple, but as a universal material. This is an option for equipping a high-quality, affordable and durable fence, enough.

As a suitable optimal solution to the problem of what kind of fence to put around the site, this type of fence is installed. And it doesn’t stop anyone that there should be a foundation for it, as well. And when choosing which posts are needed for a fence made of corrugated sheets, it is often not a corrugated pipe that is chosen, but more solid and reliable brick ones with metal reinforcement.

Strip foundation

This is understandable if you remember how many undeniable advantages there are in the professional sheet:

  • a high-quality profile is equipped with a protective coating, which greatly extends the guaranteed service life, but galvanized ones can also stand without corrosion for a long time;
  • the right one has both durability and , and the fact that the material has become a fashion trend is determined not by its price (you can always opt for a cheaper tree), but by the ability to do without additional annual maintenance;
  • When purchasing corrugated sheeting, you can choose almost any desired shade, and it will last for quite a long time, while the wood quickly deteriorates;
  • atmospheric and mechanical stability for corrugated sheeting is one of the most important advantages;
  • you can purchase modifications with different waves, ridges, and add additional expressiveness with an uneven undercut height;
  • a good fence can be obtained even from relatively thin material if it is installed in a densely built-up area;
  • With such a fence you can not be afraid of either penetration or unfriendly glances from outsiders.

The main thing is to make the right choice: which profile is better to build from, which pillars are best to use, calculate the necessary stiffeners and the distance between the pillars. Thanks to this, you can avoid maintaining the fence for a long time. Your own experience or a construction consultant will tell you which screws are needed. Those recommended and designed for a specific thickness are best suited.

Frame for fence

Minuses

The reason why the solution to the problem, or from corrugated sheeting, is taken in favor of wood, does not lie in the disadvantages of the profile or the advantages. Each owner has personal preferences (for example, nostalgic or environmental), financial considerations and his own reasons. Both one and the other material are widespread and in demand.

It all depends on how professionally the pickets or sheets used in construction were installed. All negative effects result from the wrong choice or ignorance of which corrugated sheeting for fences is best to choose, or from its unreliable installation.

Size of corrugated fence

The profile for delimiting the territory has a number of distinctive parameters. This is not one type of construction product, but a whole line. In its creation, the thickness, height, length, configuration, dimensions of the wave or crest, and the degree of convexity of the relief are taken into account.

Another important factor influencing the choice, in addition to thickness and size, is the protective coating with which the profile is equipped. Before purchasing and installing such a fence, the owner must decide which parameters are suitable for him. Profiled sheets are available in three types: load-bearing, roofing and wall.

It's important to make the right choice

Thickness

This is one of the main parameters that determine the suitability of a profile for creating a fence.

The useful width is what can be used to cover the span, and the full width takes into account the possibility of mounting on poles located at a certain distance.

The thickness can be different even for sheets of the same type, and this circumstance should also be taken into account. Even well-fixed, but insufficiently dense sheets can lead to the creation of a sailing effect and the profile breaking from its place between. Therefore, it is better to pay a little more, but take special panels that are denser and imply a more durable fastening.

Some sheet characteristics:

  1. One of the most common types is C8. Its width is 1150 mm, and the total width is 1200. The thickness of the sheet can be from 0.4 to 0.8 mm. Initially it was conceived as a covering for walls, hence the marking C - wall. it is not very suitable, because it is a thin and bendable profile, which is not designed for wind or its gusts, but for mounting on a thick wall.
  2. C10 is slightly narrower (by 50 mm) and with less wide stiffening ribs. With the same metal thickness, it can withstand somewhat greater loads due to stiffening ribs with a smaller pitch and the height of the corrugated profile being 10 mm.
  3. C20 with a stiffener pitch of 137.5 mm and a rib height of 20 mm, despite belonging to category C and the relatively small thickness of the metal (0.45–0.7 mm), is considered an excellent option. This corrugated panel is the best representative of the line of wall panels suitable for installing fencing.

Variety of options

Allows you not only to achieve maximum reliability due to synthetic material, but also to choose it in almost any color. If you properly take care of the strength of the installed supports, to which you need to correctly attach the profile sheet, then C20 will serve as reliably as special fence ones.

When choosing a material for building a fence, the question always arises, which of the existing options is better. Profiled sheets have a good combination of price and quality, which is why they are very popular. To determine the most suitable option for certain operating conditions, you should study the types of corrugated sheets and the parameters of each design, which determines the cost of the products.

Marking

In the production of profiled sheets, cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel is used. Their service life is ensured by an anti-corrosion coating, which is performed by galvanizing.

Product marking

If a shade is needed, paint is used. There are also materials with heterogeneous coatings. They come in a wide range of colors. Another feature of corrugated sheeting is a corrugated or profiled surface. These stiffening ribs determine the high strength characteristics of the fence.

Based on differences in the configuration of the surface of the material, the following types of professional products are distinguished:

  1. Load-bearing corrugated sheeting (marked H) - used in the construction of roofs and floors.
  2. Wall option (C) – designed for walls, partitions, fences of objects for any purpose.
  3. Universal corrugated sheeting (NS) - can be used both to cover a building and as a fence.

All of these types of material are characterized by different parameters (sheet thickness, profile height, product width) to ensure a sufficient level of structural rigidity, be it a fence or a roof. That is why, if the question of which type of corrugated sheet is better is being decided, it is not recommended to use load-bearing material for fencing. Likewise, the wall option is not suitable for the roof.

The sheet designation encodes its main parameters. For example, product C21-0.45-750-11000. The letter allows you to determine the type of material. The first number is the profile height. The second number is the thickness of the profiled sheet. Next, the width of the product (useful) is encrypted. And the last number is the height of the sheet. All values are indicated in millimeters.

Price-quality ratio

If a material for a fence is selected, it is necessary to determine which option from the existing range of corrugated sheets is better and is the most acceptable in terms of price and characteristics.

Product types

Often, cheap fence components do not last long. But it is not always advisable to purchase expensive material.

For example, characteristics such as tightness and strength are important for a roof. The last parameter determines the thickness of the sheet. Such requirements are imposed taking into account significant loads on the floor, in particular due to snow in winter.

For the fence, the average option according to the characteristics is quite sufficient: C8, C10, C18, C20, C21. The rigidity of profiles with a height of 8-21 mm will provide the required level of structural strength. The thickness of the corrugated sheet should be in the range of 0.5-0.7 mm. Material with similar characteristics is in the middle price category, but is quite reliable.

The stronger the wind load in the area where you plan to install the fence, the stronger the corrugated sheeting should be, which means that in such conditions it is better to install fences with a significant profile wave height. C8 grade sheets should be avoided.

Choice by wear resistance and service life

Galvanization lasts a short period of time (10-15 years). Material coated with a compound of aluminum, zinc and silicon will last a little longer.

If we consider all existing types of profiled sheets: galvanized and polymer coated (unilateral and double-sided application), then the first option is the least resistant to external factors, since if the anti-corrosion layer is damaged, the material begins to rust. Accordingly, its service life is significantly reduced.

Polymer coatings are used in different types:

  • polyester (polyester dyeing);
  • “pural” (polyurethane-polyamide paint);
  • PVDF (polyvinyl difluoride acrylic material);
  • plastisol (a combination of polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers).

The last option mentioned is the most popular due to its excellent properties. This coating ensures a longer service life of the fence than polyester painting. The thickness of the plastisol layer reaches 200 microns. For comparison, galvanization is covered with a layer of anti-corrosion material of no more than 30 microns.

Evaluation by external characteristics

In this case, you need to proceed from the object for which the profiled material is selected. Outbuildings, parking lots, and warehouses are fenced with a standard zinc-coated sheet, as it is not attractive. But there are no high requirements for the appearance of objects for this purpose.

If the question of which corrugated sheeting would be best to use, for example, for fencing private housing, is being decided, it is recommended to choose a design with a double-sided polymer coating.

Such a sheet is characterized by excellent external characteristics not only from the outside, but also from the inside. Another option is with photo printing to match the structure of natural materials: wood, stone.

Manufacturer selection

There are quite a few companies involved in the production of profiled sheets. There may be several of them in each city. Many manufacturers operate in different cities, for example, SPK-PROFILE, Rosmetall. When deciding which profiled sheet is best to buy, you need to study the market in your region and compare prices. You can use the recommendations of friends who have already collaborated with one of the companies in question.

You should not purchase products at minimum prices, since in such cases it may turn out that the sheet is of low quality or does not meet the stated characteristics of rigidity and durability.

Thus, corrugated sheeting is very popular today. In addition to existing designs, new types of sheets are appearing, in particular, for picket fences with pointed protrusions along the upper edge. In terms of price, profiled material is inferior to natural stone, however, it has a fairly high degree of reliability.

The main thing is to choose the right corrugated sheet according to its characteristics, taking into account the thickness of the sheet, the width and height of the product, as well as the height of the profile wave. The more durable and durable the material, the more expensive it will cost. When choosing, you also need to take into account the operating conditions, which will allow you to select sheets with suitable parameters.

Today, for the installation of fences, corrugated sheeting, which is a metal sheet with longitudinal profiling, is increasingly used. To get a high-quality fence, you need to choose the right profile for the fence: brand, coating, dimensions, resistance to mechanical and atmospheric influences.

A fence made of corrugated sheets will help you save your capital

Advantages of profiled sheets

To choose the right material, you should have an idea of its main characteristics. Thus, a profiled sheet has the following advantages:

  1. Ease of transportation. It can be easily transported even over long distances.
  2. Availability of material. Profiled sheeting is very popular, so it can be easily purchased in any locality.
  3. Good indicators of corrosion resistance, strength and fire safety.
  4. Easy to install. To build a fence made of corrugated sheets, it is not necessary to have special knowledge or special tools.
  5. Low cost. Very nice quality.
  6. Variety of design solutions. Various colors make it possible to build a beautiful and original fence that will perfectly complement the appearance of the garden area.
  7. Long operating time. The professional sheet can serve its owner for more than 25 years.

None of the building materials existing today for the construction of fences combines such a number of the above-described advantages. It is for this reason that most owners of private houses use corrugated sheeting to build fences.

In this video we will look at how to choose corrugated sheeting for a fence:

Main varieties

Most often, metal corrugated sheets are used during the construction of suburban areas as roof coverings and material for barriers. To decide which corrugated sheeting for a fence is best to choose, you need to have information about its varieties that exist on the building materials market.

Metal corrugated sheet is made from thin sheet steel by rolling on special bending equipment. As a result of this processing, the source material receives a corrugated or wavy shape. Each corrugation is a stiffening rib, which significantly increases the load-bearing capacity and reliability of the material.

That is, the higher the corrugation or profile wave, the better the mechanical properties of the product. When deciding which profiled sheet to choose for a fence, you need to take this point into account.

There are the following varieties:

  1. Wall - marked “C”.
  2. Carrier - designated "N".
  3. Universal profiled sheet - marked “NS”.

Load-bearing profiled sheets are used, as a rule, for arranging roofing coverings, and wall sheets are used for constructing fences and wall structures.

In addition, different types of corrugated sheets differ in the thickness and width of the sheet of the original blank. To make it easier to understand, the standard provides for special marking of the profile sheet for the fence. For example, C25-1250-0.7 stands for: corrugated wall sheet with a wave height of 25 mm, a width of 1250 mm and a thickness of 0.7 mm.

In some cases, the marking additionally contains letter indices located after the wave size, for example, C8A (B, K). The letter “A” indicates that the corrugated sheet is treated on the outside with a polymer coating, painted in a color according to the RAL catalog. The letter “B” indicates a double-sided coating, and the marking “K” indicates an additional stiffener.

Material quality

The choice of profiled sheet for fencing should be determined by the operating conditions. Unlike roofing, the fence does not need to withstand the weight of snow in winter; this structure is not subject to increased tightness requirements. Therefore, products with a small wave and a thickness of 0.5-0.9 mm are most often recommended. As a rule, they choose C8, 10 or 20 corrugated wall panels. The exception is regions with significant wind loads.

With a small thickness, corrugated wall sheeting is exactly the material required for fencing. It is reliable and durable, and fences made from it look light and attractive. Wall corrugated sheeting can reliably protect the local area from gusts of wind, penetration of dust and noise: in addition to all other advantages, the profiled sheet has fairly good sound insulation properties.

When deciding which corrugated sheeting is best for a fence, you need to find out from the seller such an important indicator as service life.

The most affordable is galvanized steel sheet. It has fairly high corrosion resistance and service life can be up to 20 years. But this choice is hardly the best - rather, more economical.

It is for this reason that today galvanized products are used less and less - now more durable and modern material with a polymer coating is increasingly used.

In addition to the fact that the polymer coating serves as protection for the corrugated sheet from mechanical damage and corrosion, these products also look more attractive in appearance. The clear lines of the fence look modern and beautiful. The color coating can be applied both to the outside of the sheet and to the inside.

Therefore, most owners of private buildings prefer to purchase double-sided profiled sheeting. Both sides of this product can perfectly fit into the landscape design of the garden area, turning the fence into the main architectural element of the site. This fencing not only looks much better, unlike conventional galvanization, but can also last much longer - up to 50 years, and is slightly more expensive.

Installing concrete blocks will help strengthen the corrugated fence

Surface treatment

When deciding which corrugated sheet is best for a fence, we must not forget that there are several types of coatings - aluzinc, galvanized, polymer and paint coatings.

Hot galvanized. This is a fairly reliable protection of metal sheets from corrosion; high-quality corrugated sheeting should contain at least 150 grams of zinc per 1 m².

Aluzinc is a coating that is superior to galvanizing in its protective properties, and is also much more durable and stronger.

Paint and varnish coatings. Galvanized corrugated sheets are treated with a layer of varnish or paint, after which a film appears, which additionally creates corrosion protection, while the coating has a more attractive appearance. But at the same time, the coating scratches quickly and is not as durable as polymer.

Polymer coatings. All coatings have a standard thickness, their own color range and characteristics:

  • gloss or polyester - are a budget class of coatings, with the standard layer being 30 microns;
  • matte polyester is one of the types of polyester that has a standard layer of 45 microns;
  • plastisol is a decorative polymer containing PVC and various plasticizer additives, the standard layer is 220 microns. It has high resistance to atmospheric and mechanical influences. The surface may have a textured pattern simulating leather or birch bark;
  • Pural (PRIZMA) is a modern coating that contains polyurethane with the addition of acrylic and polyamide. The layer thickness is 60 microns. Has good resistance to fading and chemicals;
  • PVDF - contains 35% acrylic and 65% polyvinyl fluoride, the standard thickness is 20 microns. It has increased resistance to aggressive environments, ultraviolet radiation, temperature changes, and does not fade;
  • Printech ® is a modern coating that imitates the texture of various natural materials. It has excellent decorative qualities. The standard layer is 25-30 microns, applied to polyester using offset engraving. Resistant to salt water, alkali and acid solutions, precipitation, and mechanical damage.

Photo offset printing

Today on the building materials market you can purchase not only corrugated sheets with a polymer colored coating. Relatively recently, the developers of a Korean company created a technology for applying different images to a metal sheet, for which the method of photo offset printing is used.

Thanks to the use of this technology, it has become possible to produce profiled sheets that perfectly imitate wood, as well as brickwork or natural stone. These colors are great for people who love natural textures. Such products are what you need for fencing if the house is built of logs or has natural stone trim.

In addition to colored protective polymer coatings imitating natural stone, wood or brickwork, manufacturers offer other options. Therefore, before purchasing corrugated sheeting, it is advisable to take an interest in the latest innovations, since the number of varieties of these products increases every year. Both modern approaches to applying a protective layer and decorative coatings, as well as technological features and innovations, are possible.

In particular, a picket fence made of corrugated sheets appeared on the market not long ago. Some varieties of this material are specially manufactured with a sharpened edge for the purpose of using sheets specifically for fencing. Moreover, the picket fence can consist of elements that repeat the shape of a wooden fence.

A fence made of corrugated sheets is a fairly popular method of fencing not only for individual but also industrial facilities. This fencing can be installed either temporarily or permanently. But you need to carefully approach the choice, taking into account the location of the fence and the duration of operation. So, you should pay attention to the following details:

  1. First check the thickness and quality of the corrugated sheet. Do not forget that for arranging a fence, products with a thickness of 0.5-0.9 mm are sufficient.
  2. Remember that by purchasing a more budget option, you will certainly lose in durability. You must try to find a “golden mean” between your possible costs and the protection of products from the negative effects of the external environment.
  3. An important point is the geometry of the waves. When laying them overlapping, the sheets should match as closely as possible. Otherwise, the structure will be fragile and will additionally require the installation of logs, and this will lead to increased material costs.
  4. Do not forget that the wall profile has a large surface area and is also cheaper than load-bearing profiled sheets. If your area does not experience high wind loads, then the use of corrugated wall sheets may well satisfy all the requirements for the strength of the fence.
  5. To increase the safety of products during transportation, it is better to choose products with a protective film. After installation it is removed.
