I used to plant birches, maples and lindens in my suburban area. However, now every year I plant conifers on the site where my house and outbuildings stand. More and more young spruces, firs and pines surround my small house, and someday my home will be surrounded by a real coniferous forest.

Coniferous trees on the site - why exactly them?

Why should coniferous plants be planted on the site? Because they will be able to delight you with the fresh greenery of their crowns both in winter and in summer. And the smell that conifers spread - spruce, fir and pine - over the site on a warm summer day cannot be compared with anything.

Transplant time for coniferous trees

The fact is that the roots of a young pine tree die in the open air after 10-15 minutes, and they also do not need the land too rich in organic matter. Pines of all kinds grow and develop best in sunny places and on light soils. If the earth in your area is especially heavy, be sure to make a twenty-centimeter drainage from expanded clay or broken brick and a layer of sand when planting.

It is good to add 50 g of nitrophoska or 100 g of Kemira-universal complex fertilizer to the planting pit. Weymouth pine and black pine grow best on alkaline and neutral soils, so when planting in a hole, add 200-300 g of lime.

Everything is mixed with the ground, watered and a tree is planted. If you plant several pines, then the distance between large ones should be at least 4 m, undersized ones can be planted closer to each other - at a distance of 1.5 m. Do not deepen the root collar when planting, it should be at ground level. And when planting large-sized plants (it is better to do this in winter), the neck should be raised above ground level by 10 cm, since the soil will settle over time.

3-5-year-old trees take root best of all. Immediately after planting, the tree is watered abundantly. Pine trees often suffer from pests and diseases.

The most stable among them is mountain pine. The best time for planting pines is the end of April - the beginning of May or the end of August - the middle of September. If in the fall you planted a tree a little later than this period, then its roots may not have time to take root.

Therefore, be sure to cover the tree with spruce branches or spunbond so that the spring sun does not burn it. It will be possible to remove the shelter only when the ground thaws, that is, in mid-April. Well-established trees do not need to be covered.

But pine is a tree with character, it is quite difficult to grow, it requires proper and long-term care. In the garden markets of Russia, you can most often find pines from European countries with a warm climate.

The choice is changing quite quickly, that even experienced specialists simply do not have time to test new types of pines in our conditions (i.e. climate). If you are a big fan of pines, then you can take risks without waiting for expert opinions, if successful you can be proud of the grown pine. The advantageous geographical location of the forest nursery allows planting and breeding any kind of seedlings of deciduous and coniferous forests. Landscape design is very popular today.

This is quite understandable, since the beautiful “fluffy” branches in winter and summer delight the eye with their bright green juicy color. One of the most unpretentious and popular coniferous plants for a country house is pine. Yes, the one that we decorate every New Year with toys and garlands.

But you can extend the holiday, because the pines in the country give the owners joy all year round. In addition to aesthetic pleasure, a dense crown of pine, located in the immediate vicinity of the house, is able to protect the building from dust, heat or cold winter winds.

But how to plant and grow a pine tree so that the plant is healthy and beautiful? First, you should be very careful about the seedlings. They should be healthy with a well-developed root system, it is better to take 3-5 year olds.

It should be remembered that the slightest exposure of the roots of a young pine, even for 10-15 minutes, can lead to the death of the plant! Before buying, always carefully inspect the seedlings to the smallest detail.

If you want to diversify your coniferous gardenby planting several types of coniferous trees, I advise you to pay attention to thuja, juniper, spruce and Siberian cedar seedlings of which are presented in specialized stores in a wide range. These recommendations are also successfully applied to the listed coniferous trees, which perfectly enliven the garden, give the unique aroma of needles and the charm of the wild forest. Secondly, for proper growth, you should follow the rules of planting.

It is desirable to plant seedlings in a sunny place from late April to early May or from late August to mid-September, strictly observing the distance between trees: 4 m for large species, 1.5 m for undersized ones. The depth of the pit is at least one meter, and when planting in heavy waterlogged soil, an additional 20-30 cm of expanded clay or broken brick drainage.

The neck of the plant is left raised above the soil surface by about 10 cm and must be mulched with leaf humus, crushed bark or wet peat. For acidic soils, when planting, 200-300g of lime should be added to each hole.

After planting, the soil around the plant is very well watered. Thirdly, pine trees in the country require regular and proper pruning, which contributes to the correct formation of the crown and does not allow the plant to grow uncontrollably in size (the optimal height of an adult plant is 1.8-2 m). In the spring, growth candles are removed from the pine tree at the moment when they have already stopped growing, but have not yet become covered with needles.

They start pruning from the top and skeletal branches, on which stumps of 0.5 cm are left (then the annual growth will be no more than 3 cm). Needles cannot be cut, as they live for several years, and damaged needles turn yellow and spoil the appearance of the tree.

Pine trees should not be carried with bare roots and planted in garden soil. The fact is that the roots of a young pine tree die in the open air after 10-15 minutes, and they also do not need the land too rich in organic matter. Pines of all kinds grow and develop best in sunny places and on light soils.

Pines, as well as all large-sized trees, cannot be transported with bare roots and immediately planted in garden soil. All this is due to the fact that the roots of young pines die in the open windy air in about 10-15 minutes, they also do not need land with high organic matter. Large-sized plants of all varieties grow and form best in sunny open places and not on heavy soils.

The best time to plant pine trees in your garden is late April, early May, or late August, mid-September, at other times of the year, planting pine trees can lead to the death of the tree. For example, if in the fall you planted a pine tree a little later than this period, then the roots may not have time to take root, it is highly likely that they will not take root at all, in fact, this will spoil the landscape design of your estate.

Therefore, you must definitely cover the trees with spunbond or spruce branches so that the spring sun does not burn them. You can remove the shelter only after the ground has completely thawed, that is, around mid-April.

Trees that have taken root well do not need to be covered. Pine is a very suitable tree for landscaping your garden, but it requires a lot of care.

It is believed that pines are difficult to care for. This opinion was spread by inexperienced gardeners who are simply trying to relocate a tree from a nearby grove.

How to grow pine

How to plant pine trees, we will consider further.
Some summer residents naively believe that if their house is surrounded by a natural coniferous forest, then all the other coniferous plants on its site will take root quite easily. But pine is a tree with character, it is quite difficult to grow, it requires proper and long-term care. In the garden markets of Russia, you can most often find pines from European countries with a warm climate. The choice is changing quite quickly, that even experienced specialists simply do not have time to test new types of pines in our conditions (i.e. climate).

If you are a big fan of pines, then you can take risks without waiting for the opinions of experts, if successful, you can always be proud of the grown pine. The advantageous geographical location of the forest nursery allows planting and breeding any kind of deciduous and coniferous forest seedlings.

Landscape design is very popular today. Landscaping begins with thinking through the most comfortable and logical zoning of your site. Nowadays, there are companies that will undertake the improvement of any territory. Automatic watering makes it possible to reduce human intervention to a minimum, as well as accurately dose the amount of water poured out.

The most basic rule in choosing a pine is not to rush! Try to find out everything about the type of pine you like, figure out what exactly this pine tree will be like at a respectable age, how it will be combined with other decorative plantings and plants in your summer cottage. Don't chase the big ones. Firstly, it is rather difficult to plant large-sized plants on your own, secondly, the prices for large-sized plants are several times higher than the cost of familiar seedlings, and thirdly, small-sized seedlings take root much easier.

Before planting a pine tree, it is necessary to prepare a seat for it in advance. This must be done so that the earth has time to settle. The hole needs to be dug twice the size of the pine container. The pit is filled with a suitable substrate. Arrange drainage at the bottom. Then, fertilize the substrate with certain mineral fertilizers. No need to deepen the root neck. The root neck is the boundary between the root and the trunk. Water the ground. Mulch tree trunks with wood chips, peat chips and sawdust. This will help the water to evaporate more slowly from the soil surface. Most conifers, including pines, love the acidic reaction of the soil, it is maintained using the mulching procedure.

Never leave new pines and other trees to be torn apart by frost. It is also not recommended to leave the plants in the sun, wrap them with spruce branches, burlap or non-woven material. In the first year, special and attentive care for pines is necessary, arrange water procedures for them. It is not recommended to overfeed newborns. It is best to shed the earth with growth stimulants (today the choice of these funds is very wide).

Spray the crown with a solution of special preparations that can relieve stress in plants. In new conditions, pines need time to get used to the change of scenery and get used to the new conditions. In pines, the central root goes deep enough into the soil, unlike Christmas trees, they have a superficial root system, so a strong wind can knock down even very old spruce trees. Pine roots cannot receive full and normal nutrition without mycorrhiza, in principle, like other coniferous trees. Mycorrhiza are special microorganisms of the fungal type, they are in symbiosis with higher plants.

When transplanting in nurseries, and even more so in garden markets, this factor is not taken into account, and you can purchase a pine that is obviously doomed to death. You can add soil from under the roots of forest pines, spruces to the planting pit, this will help the tree take root.

Pine planting and care features

young pine care

Almost a month ago, we planted a young spruce, or rather, a pine tree, next to the house.

We bought a very small tree, dug a hole about 20 centimeters, fertilized it with mineral fertilizers, and planted a pine tree.

But now we have a very windy autumn, and so that the pine tree does not suffer from sudden gusts, we made a special design for it, which protects the tree from strong winds.

Now we are completely calm about the tree - during this time the pine has perfectly taken root on our black soil, and gradually got stronger.

Coniferous plants are very often used to decorate suburban areas. This is quite understandable, since the beautiful "fluffy" branches in winter and summer delight the eye with their bright green juicy color.

Pine and its other relatives fill the air with phytoncides, which have a beneficial effect on a person, his nervous and respiratory systems. Thanks to the tree, the air becomes better, gets rid of harmful bacteria. You can’t even talk about the bewitching aroma, the energy is mesmerizing!

Many people want to have this wonderful plant in their garden, but stories about how difficult it is to take care of it, and even more difficult to properly transplant a pine tree, hold back from these actions. Such an opinion can only be spread by people who do not have experience. This article talks about how to properly "relocate a tree" to your site.

How to transplant a pine according to the rules?

Amateur gardeners who decide to start replanting coniferous trees often do not have even the slightest idea of what difficulties await them ahead. Pine transplantation does not consist only in going into the forest, digging up a tree and planting it in the garden. In this case, the pine can only live for ten days, after which it will completely dry out.

What are the basic transplant rules, and do they exist at all? Yes, they exist, and if you have to plant conifers, including pine, they must be adhered to:

  • The first rule, it is basic and very important, the roots of the seedling must not be exposed! Thin roots play an important role for the plant, they act as the main suppliers of nutrients, but during contact with open air they can die in just a matter of seconds. To protect them, after digging, immediately wrap them together with an undestroyed earthen clod in a material well saturated with water. In this case, most of the roots will be preserved.
  • The second rule is to properly dig a seedling. Leave the earth ball wide and deep. Such a mass of land is necessary to preserve the root system, which in pine has a large number of lateral roots, as well as a long tap root. If it is severely cut, this will negatively affect the adaptability of the tree to new conditions.
  • The third rule is to properly plant a pine seedling. The most important condition is that it is impossible to deepen the root neck of the seedling. If you do not adhere to the norms, the plant will not take root. At the landing site there should be no high groundwater and swamps. This problem has a negative impact on pine. It happens that seedlings that have started growing begin to get sick and, ultimately, die.

In addition to all of the above, it is necessary to regularly monitor the condition of the soil in the place where the pine was transplanted. There should always be moisture, but abundant watering will be needed only during the dry season of summer. If everything is done correctly, a beautiful tree will grow from a transplanted small pine tree, which will later become a decoration of the garden.

What time of year is best to transplant pine

An excellent period for transplanting conifers is the warm season. The ideal period is the end of April - the beginning of May, or the third decade of August. This is explained by the fact that their survival rate is lower than that of oak, linden and mountain ash, since the roots can develop normally only in warm weather.

If you transplant a pine tree in the pre-autumn time, you need to be sure that its roots are not damaged. If planting is made at a later date, the roots will definitely not be able to take root. In this case, the tree must be covered with spruce branches, you can use spunbond. In the spring, when the ground thaws, the shelter is removed. The first sign that a seedling is alive is the appearance of a young growth on it.

Priming

It is best to transplant pine into sandy and sandy soil. If the transplant is carried out in a site where heavy soil, for example, clay and loam, before transplanting a pine, you need to make a twenty-centimeter drainage from expanded clay, sand or pieces of crushed brick.

To get rid of excessive acidity, lime is used. It is poured into the landing pit in the amount of 300g. and thoroughly mixed with soil. There you can send 50g. nitrophoska, and even better - 100g. complex fertilizer. The use of fertilizers in large quantities is not recommended.

It is noticed that the survival rate of a transplanted tree is higher if it is transferred to less fertile soil. A seedling feels much worse when it is transplanted from nutrient-poor soil to a richer one. So, you need to pick up two buckets of earth from the place in the forest where the pine grew and mix it with the prepared soil in the planting hole. This will help the green newcomer to grow and develop normally.

seedlings

It is recommended to take an even seedling for transplantation, with bright green shoots and a height of up to 40 cm. This is one of the conditions for the pine to take root. Young tree, 40 cm high. and more, will not excel in your dominions of good growth, because at that time it was already accustomed to the conditions of the place where it was before.

It is better to transplant a pine tree in an untouched state; you should dig out a seedling very carefully so as not to damage a single branch. Pine is an interesting tree, it has the relationship of the tap root with the crown. At the slightest damage to the crown, they begin to hurt, then the roots completely dry out.

Pine seedlings that are 3-5 years old are excellent for transplanting. At a young age, the tree tolerates the "move" well in early spring. Like all living organisms, pine, once in a new place, is under stress, against which it is good to treat it with anti-stress drugs. The procedure can be carried out up to 4 times per season.

How to transplant a large pine tree

It is very difficult to transplant a large pine tree. Before transplanting, you need to properly carry out the preparatory work throughout the year. At least four times per season, the root system should be cut through 30 cm. from the trunk. After that, careful care of the tree is required. Immediately after cutting the roots, it is necessary to treat with one of the root formation stimulants, which will contribute to the formation and growth of many fibrous roots. You can repot in the spring. However, one should not hope for great success.

Where is the best place to plant a pine

Anyone who has ever been in a pine forest knows the fresh resinous air. There is a lot of ozone, which has a detrimental effect on viruses, neutralizes toxins. Having transplanted a pine or even a few, it will be possible to constantly inhale this healing air, rich in phytoncides and oxygen. When the seedling turns into an adult pine tree, in addition to purifying the air, it will be able to shade the area well.

You can plant a pine tree in a dry sandy place. It should not be forgotten that its height is sometimes very large, up to 20 meters, and the crown is very dense. Pits for transplantation must be placed at a distance of three meters from each other, no less.

For personal plots, the following varieties of pine are often used:

  • Glauka Compact;
  • Nana Hibernika;
  • Dun Valley - blue needles;
  • Argenta Compact - silvery-gray needles;
  • Aurea - young shoots of yellow - green color.

On a large summer cottage, where there is enough space, pine trees can be planted around a country house. These trees will have a great view when "settle" them next to rowan and.

The most common mistakes when transplanting pine

In order not to harm the tree during transplantation, you need to familiarize yourself with the main mistakes that are often made during such an action:

  • The earthen room is broken. Pine should be transplanted with a preserved lump! To do this, the day before digging a seedling, it should be watered. The safety of the clod is facilitated by its quick packing with appropriate material with further tying with strong twine. Only after the lump has already been sent to its place in the landing pit, you can remove the packaging.
  • The planting hole does not correspond to the earthen coma of the plant prepared for transplantation. The landing pit for planting a seedling should be wider and deeper than the size of the coma. Free gaps after the tree is planted must be covered with earth.
  • Do not adhere to all the requirements of conifers (in this case, pines) when planting. In order for a plant transplanted to a new place to develop properly, it is necessary to create all the necessary conditions according to its requirements.

To plant or not to plant a pine tree near the house: signs

It is believed that pine does not pose any danger to people, it only brings benefits. Before the New Year, houses are decorated with both Christmas trees and pine trees. They try to build sanatoriums and health-improving institutions for children only in a pine forest. The elite population of the country also places their summer cottages in pine forests.

There are many signs and superstitions among the people that a pine and spruce planted near a house can bring misfortune. These coniferous trees have a powerful energy and root system. It will be right if they are not planted close to the house, so as not to destroy the integrity of the foundation. Superstition is due to the fact that during fires, the pine instantly lights up and burns in the form of a candle.

Yes, indeed, signs are not going anywhere. But if you have a great desire to have such a tree in your area, the right decision would be to plant a pine tree. She will delight you with her beauty throughout the year. And yet, the pine of our distant ancestors has always been a symbol of money and healing!

Surely, many gardeners are very interested in the issue of planting trees on their plots. And, it is quite possible that the decision to plant a pine tree on the site will be very correct, in particular it will solve some problems. For example, it will hide the neighbors' plot, create a shadow in the garden, and in general, an incredible aroma. And there can be a huge number of such reasons, among them you can choose for yourself, absolutely any.

The advantages of pine include, first of all, the fact that it is evergreen, and it grows quite quickly. Also, this plant is able to release phytoncides into the air, thanks to which the air is cleared of harmful fungi and bacteria, respectively, they have an extremely positive effect on the human body.

The most suitable period to plant a pine tree is somewhere in the middle of the spring period. During the summer period, the tree will take root and will be absolutely ready to meet the winter. Also a good period and the beginning of autumn. If trees are planted later than these periods, cover them with spruce branches or spunbond to protect and insulate from the sun, which shines very actively in spring. When all the snow has melted, the protection can be removed.

Where to plant a pine?

She needs a sunny spot. But if the tree is young, it is recommended to shade it. Indeed, in a new, naked place, trees will not grow in natural, normal conditions. Thanks to companion plants, young pines develop in the shade.

The best soil for pines is sandy and sandy. If it is heavy enough, make sure that drainage is provided. To do this, a twenty-centimeter layer of sand / expanded clay should be added to the landing pit.

How to plant a pine tree?

When the pine is delivered to the seat, half of one bucket of water should be poured into the pit and the seedling should be lowered directly into it. If the soil ball is larger/smaller than the planting pit, you need to remove/add soil, depending on the need.

The root neck should not be buried. Its level should be the same as the ground. Otherwise, the tree will simply die. If the seedling is transplanted together with a dense and undestroyed lump of earth, then you will have absolutely no problem with the depth at which it should be planted.

After planting is done, the ground must be mulched. As you know, mulch is an assistant to retain moisture and prevent weeds from sprouting. It rots quite slowly, thereby contributing to a very soft fertilizer. You can mulch with fallen pine needles, for example.

Even if the land in which the seedling is planted is wet, after planting it must be watered in any case. Thanks to this, the supply of water will be ensured, and the roots and soil will also be in better contact. Therefore, in order for the pine tree to feed and recover from the damage received, such an environment will be the most favorable. In order not to wash away the soil, a pine seedling should be watered using a spray with a nozzle.

If you intend to plant several pines at once, then the next seedling should be planted approximately four meters from the first. In case of planting too close, in the process of growth, the trees will simply interfere with each other.

In any store, when you buy a seedling, you can find out what to plant under a pine tree. To date, there are many different options for a wide variety of plants.

Pine transplantation from the forest to the garden plot can occur at any age. If everything is done according to the rules, the probability of survival, even of an adult tree, will remain high.

The difference between a seedling from a nursery and a forest one

The seedling in the nursery is initially cultivated. Young plants have a tap root system that extends up to 1.5 meters into the ground. This makes transplanting pine almost impossible without damaging the main part of the root.

Due to agrotechnical measures:

  • depletion of soil structure;
  • cutting the soil at the level of crown width,

a compact root ball is formed with the preservation of mycorrhiza. The latter means a special symbiosis with mycelium, as a result of which the pine will never experience a lack of moisture.

Practice shows that the most promising trade is a three-year undergrowth:

  • has the best survival rate;
  • in the first year after transplantation gives a good increase;
  • takes up little space during transportation;
  • does not require special equipment for transplantation.

Considering that the height of such a seedling is about 30 cm, the annual growth is 20 cm, it will be possible to rest in the shade of an adult tree in 15 years.

You can find a plant nursery that sells pine trees at that age. However, the guarantee of engraftment is given subject to the complete performance of the work by specialists of such organizations. Everything becomes very expensive. These services are usually used by developers of luxury real estate.

If you limit the height of transplanted pine trees from the forest to one and a half meters, the costs can be avoided almost completely. Such a tree can also be transported by personal car. However, in order for it to take root, during the previous year it is required to form its root system and prepare the soil in a new place.

Transplant procedure

Four times a year before transplantation around the selected pine tree in the forest at a crown distance, the surface root system is cut with a sharp shovel. Enough depth on the bayonet. A strict time sequence is not required. If you plan to transplant in the spring, you can distribute the pruning as follows:

  • the first time - in the spring, as soon as the earth leaves;
  • the second - at the beginning of summer;
  • the third - at the end of summer;
  • the fourth - in the beginning of autumn.

In cold weather, the development of the root system stops, and the need for their cutting disappears.

At the same time, a pit is being prepared for transplanting pine from the forest. Its diameter should be equal to the width of the tree crown. The depth largely depends on the tap root, the length of which can only be guessed at. On fertile soils in an adult pine, it can reach 1.5 meters. For a two-meter teenager that has grown on poor soils, the core part grows up to 50 - 60 cm. From these values, the planting depth is determined. Approximately 40 cm should be added to this size for a drainage layer of gravel, sand and broken bricks.

Pine digging is carried out from the line of cutting roots in such a way that when deepened by 60 cm, the tunnel closes from all sides. The resulting room is bandaged with geotextile or gauze, laid in several layers, and watered abundantly.

Before transplanting, it is necessary to measure the length of the coma and fill the hole to the desired height. Backfilling of the roots is carried out with the packaging material removed with the support of the trunk.

Watering such a pine should be constant. It is better to do this twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.

Proper planting of pine trees on the site in the fall will strengthen the soil, saturate the air with useful substances - phytoncides and create a visual accent. Walking in a coniferous forest has a positive effect on the work of the central nervous system and the cardiovascular system. People who have been diagnosed with diseases of the respiratory system are recommended to plant a coniferous tree on the site. Seedlings are taken from the nursery. The choice is made in favor of planting material with closed roots. There are no restrictions in terms of variety selection. The only caveat is that fans of landscape design take the undersized variety "Mountain".

Planting in spring or early autumn is recommended for seedlings that are more than 3 years old. Three-year-old seedlings are more likely to take root even in “poor” soil. The second option is to plant a pine tree on the site, which was dug up in the forest in the fall. Botanists do not recommend doing this for beginners. It is impossible to independently determine which young tree is in good health.

On a note!

Pine is planted on the site in mid-September. The beginning of autumn is the time when there is a stable level of humidity and temperature outside the window. The second “plus” is that in September the seedlings will be easier to transplant.

Transplanting a seedling from the forest

The recommended tree height is from 60 to 120 cm. You should not exceed the specified threshold, otherwise it will not be possible to plant a pine tree from the forest on the site. Dig up a tree with a straight trunk. Use a bayonet shovel. It does not damage the root system. The further course of action is as follows:

  • a radius of 50 cm is dug around the tree - it is necessary for the pine transplantation from the forest to take place without damage to the rhizome;
  • deepen as much as possible in order to extract the earth together with the root system;
  • together with the roots, you need to extract up to 20 kg of earth.

Gardeners who want to take pine from the forest should not take "bare roots" for two reasons. The first is that the seedling will not take root. The second - you will need 4-5 times more fertilizer.

Independent reproduction of needles

Self-planting of pine trees on the site in the fall is carried out using existing trees. The procedure is as follows:

  • seeds are taken only from healthy trees;
  • for 2 months they are placed in the refrigerator (not in the freezer);
  • put them in a container with water, the temperature of which is +35 + 40 C;
  • duration of water procedures - 30 minutes;
  • seeds are planted in a prepared box;
  • inside the tank there must be constant air exchange;
  • placed where they receive a sufficient amount of sunlight;
  • from the moment of planting the seeds until the first shoots appear, the pots are covered with a film;
  • soil is poured inside the box, which is mixed with peat and chernozem in a ratio of 1 to 1;
  • seeds go underground to a depth of 3 cm;
  • seeds are planted at a distance of up to 2 cm from each other.

As soon as the Scotch pine has sprouted, it is transplanted into open ground.

Location selection

A gardener who wants to properly plant a pine on the site pays attention to the composition of the soil. Well, if the sand variety prevails. Other requirements are as follows:

  • drainage is required, otherwise the root system will dry out;
  • 20 cm of crushed stone is poured at the landing site to ensure drainage;
  • plant a coniferous tree only on a slope;
  • at the bottom of the pit in which the seedlings are placed, 450-500 g of manure is poured;
  • 5 cm of soil is laid on top of the manure.

On a note!

When planting, the gardener makes sure that the roots do not touch the manure - the soil layer acts as an airbag. Otherwise, spring rains will provoke an undesirable chemical reaction.

Planting a seedling

In the middle lane, landing is carried out in early autumn, in the southern regions - in late autumn. The recommendation is not perceived as the ultimate truth. Dates are adjusted up or down depending on the weather. The second criterion is the quality of the land. The worse the drainage, the earlier you need to land. Gardeners adhere to the following recommendations:

  • ½ bucket of water is poured into the prepared pit;
  • carefully lower the seedling;
  • if the dimensions of the roots with a clod of earth are larger or smaller than the diameter of the pit, then it is increased or decreased;
  • the root neck cannot be buried - it is located strictly above ground level;
  • as soon as the summer resident has completed planting a pine tree from the forest, he mulches the soil around the trunk;
  • mulching is carried out using old pine needles;
  • after planting the seedlings, they are watered.

Pine seedlings are watered only with a watering can. If you plan to plant several pines on the site, then you should take a measuring device in your hands. Botanists are unanimous, it is better to plant pine trees on your site at a distance of 3.5-4 m from each other.

Coniferous trees do not need to be inspected regularly. They themselves grow, subject to the gardener's rules of care. The health of young trees should be monitored:

  1. Planting in late autumn increases the risk of sunburn. Seedlings are insulated with foil. If the planting of pines on their site was shifted to spring, then they are covered with a protective coating from the sun's rays. Irrigation plays an important role.
  2. A moderate supply of moisture will help grow powerful trees. The soil should be slightly moist, not swampy. The second rule is that fallen leaves and debris should not accumulate around the root circle. They are the source of disease. There are always pests in the dirt.

Pruning is a must. As soon as the needles are planted, the summer resident monitors the condition of the branches. They should not be dry or with traces of pathological changes. As soon as something similar has made itself felt, they are cut off. You can't delay.

Pine is an evergreen tree that is planted in the garden. Seed material is taken from the nursery. There you can be sure of its quality. The second possible source is the forest. Option for those with sufficient experience. A phased transplant of pine is carried out with the ground around the rhizome, otherwise the risk of death of the seedling increases. The second rule - you can not take seedlings older than 3-5 years - a bad omen in all respects. The older the tree, the more painfully it reacts to transplantation. If the gardener decides to replant the pine within the site, then the manipulation is carried out in early spring.

Pine belongs to the category of evergreen heat-loving trees. This plant is unpretentious to the composition of the soil, which allows it to be planted in any convenient place. Pine transplantation can be done both in spring and autumn.

It is best to transplant pine trees in the spring. Scotch pine at a young age is characterized by the presence of a tap root system. Depending on the conditions in which the pine tree grows, its soil may change. If the pine is planted on sufficiently fertile lands, then the root system will remain pivotal. In this case, the length of the root can be about 1.5 meters. Also, in such pines, a network of surface roots simultaneously begins to form, which exceed the crown in diameter.

That is why pine transplantation must be done as early as possible. The younger the pine, the faster it will be accepted. When planting pine on sandy, heavy or clay soils, the taproot will not develop, and the lateral roots will be very powerful.

At a young age, pine transplantation can be done:

  • Spring.
  • At the beginning of summer.
  • At the beginning of autumn.

In order to ensure proper transplantation, it is necessary to save the root ball. This is due to the fact that Scotch pine is characterized by the presence of mycosis on the roots. The size of this coma should be at least 60 centimeters. So that the lump does not crumble, it is necessary to tie it with gauze before transplanting. If necessary, planting pine can be done together with gauze. This is due to the fact that the gauze will rot over time and the pine will take root much faster.

Pine is absolutely indifferent to soil fertility, so it can be planted in any place convenient for the gardener.

In order for the tree to be guaranteed to transfer the transplant, it is necessary. After digging a landing hole, it must be watered without fail, and soil from under the pine should be poured onto the bottom. After planting a tree, you need to trample the ground around the trunk, and then make another watering. Pine needs regular and thorough watering throughout the season.

Pine transplantation is carried out in several stages ^

  • Initially, it is necessary to draw a circle on the ground, which will be equal in diameter to the height of the pine tree. This method is most suitable for trees whose trunk length is no more than 1.5 meters.
  • After the circle is drawn, it is necessary to make sure that foreign objects or masonry are not located along its diameter.
  • Next, you need to dig the earth in a circle. It is necessary to dig the soil evenly over the entire diameter of the circle. In the event that difficulties arise during the digging of the earth, then it is necessary to go under the "pine", that is, the shovel must be directed to the tap root of the pine.
  • If during the digging of a tree you stumbled upon a rhizome, then you should never cut it. This is due to the fact that pine is very sensitive to damage and it may not take root in a new place.

When lifting a tree, it is necessary to take hold of the trunk at the very end. It is necessary to transport the pine as carefully as possible, since the slightest damage can lead to injuries to the tree. When transporting pine, do not take it by the branches or top. The less damage the pine receives during transportation, the better and faster it will take root. It is best to transport this tree on a dense fabric.

In the event that you want to transplant a large tree, then you will need to use a drill to dig it out.

In order to pull out the tree trunk, it is necessary to tie one end of the rope to the crown, and fix the other end of the rope on the car. It is necessary to pull the barrel with the help of a car, since it will not be possible to manually perform this action.

The lower and withered branches of the tree must be chopped off without fail. This is due to the fact that as a result of damage that occurs as a result of digging and transporting a tree, the tree will hurt, which will negatively affect the lower branches.

In the event that you want to transplant a pine tree to a bright area, then it must be temporarily shaded so that the tree does not burn under direct sunlight. For this purpose, you can sew a cap from sugar bags.

Little tricks when transplanting:

  • When transplanting this tree in the autumn, preference should be given to seedlings whose height is about 40-50 centimeters. Such specimens most easily tolerate autumn transplant.
  • In order not to cut off the tap root during digging, it is necessary to choose the smallest seedlings. When the tap root breaks, the pine takes root very poorly. It depends on how high the root was damaged. The closer to the stem the root was torn off, the less likely it is to take root.
  • Pine seedlings must be planted in the ground in a funnel, the size of which is not less than a bucket. In this case, this plant is necessary until it is completely engrafted.
  • In order to slow down the growth of a pine, it is necessary to tie its root with a weak knot before planting. In this case, the top of the tree must be formed in the form of a round ball. This action must be performed annually in the autumn.
  • When planting pines, preference should be given to two-year-old trees. This is due to the fact that three-year-old trees take root very poorly.
