The KS-5363 family of cranes was created by a specialized design bureau located in Odessa and specializing in the development of heavy lifting equipment. The vehicles have been mass-produced since 1971 and supplied for civilian and military purposes.

Device

An electric mechanism is used to drive the boom mechanisms and the crane chassis. The sources of electricity are an on-board generator or an external 3-phase AC electrical network with a voltage of 380 V. A special electric motor operates from external power, which rotates the on-board generators through a system of belts and pulleys. The generated direct current has a voltage of 220 V.

The electrical installation includes a main generator with a power of 50 kW and an additional unit developing a power of 14 kW. Electric motors for movement and winch drive are powered from the main network. The auxiliary network is used to rotate the crane tower and operate the control system. The main generator is connected to the engine through the clutch, the auxiliary generator is powered by a belt drive, the drive pulley is located on the outer part of the clutch.

To drive the generator, a power plant is used, consisting of a 4-cylinder, 2-stroke, 180-horsepower diesel engine YaMZ-A204M, equipped with a mechanical supercharger. In later versions of the crane, the 4-stroke naturally-aspirated diesel engine YaMZ-236M began to be used. Both engines were equipped with an automatic centrifugal clutch.


The control cabin is made of sheet steel and equipped with a fresh or heated air supply system. An electric heater is used for heating. The cabin walls are covered with sheets to protect against noise and vibration. The type of material and layer thickness depend on the modification of the machine. The crane is controlled using keys and 2 command controllers. An instrument panel is installed in front of the driver. The operator's workplace is adjustable in 2 directions. On the 5363HL version, additional glass heaters are installed in the cabin.

The KS-5363 pneumatic wheel crane is based on an all-wheel drive chassis, which includes 2 axles. The hubs accommodate dual wheels with tires measuring 14.00*20. The outer wheels on the front axle are mounted on a special hub and are not driven. In difficult road conditions, the outer wheels are connected to the inner ones. The bridges are installed on a welded beam frame. The front axle is not equipped with suspension, the rear axle has a balancing support.

To increase stability, the chassis is equipped with hydraulic outriggers. It is allowed to operate the machine without installing supports, but with restrictions on the weight of the loads being moved. It is possible to install extension attachments that increase the length of the support extension.


The transmission consists of an electric motor and a 2-speed manual gearbox. The output shaft is connected to the axle gearboxes by cardan shafts. Each bridge is equipped with a differential mechanism of a unified design. The front axle of the crane is equipped with steering knuckles and is used to change the direction of movement. The steering consists of hydraulic cylinders; the wheel is turned by moving the rod. When installing a towbar, the swivel wheels are controlled by turning the drawbar.

Drum-type brake mechanisms are equipped with a pneumatic drive. The source of compressed air is a piston compressor located on the power plant.

The movement of equipment between construction sites is carried out using the following methods:

  • on a rigid coupling on public roads (travel speed up to 20 km/h);
  • by rail in partially disassembled form (without wheels and boom).

Specifications

At the time of creation, the cranes of the KS-5363 series were not inferior to foreign equipment in their technical characteristics. Wide unification of components and redundant power drive make it possible to work in urban conditions, as well as in an open field or in a quarry. To ensure safe operation, a limiter is installed that does not allow starting work with an overload.

Machine parameters:

  • lifting capacity of the crane in motion - 14 tons;
  • maximum load capacity - up to 36-40 tons (depending on modification);

Scheme

The crane design is based on the use of a lattice boom with a hinged unit mounted on a rotating platform. To ensure strength, braces made of angle steel profiles are installed. The standard boom has a length of 15 m, but the design allows the installation of extension sections 5 or 10 m long, increasing the reach to 30 m. On later machines, short inserts are used that regulate the length of the boom within the range of 15-32.5 m. Installing the boom in the working position performed without the help of additional equipment.

A controlled or fixed jib can be mounted on the top of the boom.

By special order, a set of tower-boom equipment was supplied for the crane. The kit included a steerable jib with an increased length, which depended on the size of the arrow. The connection points of the nodes are equipped with fingers, ensuring quick readjustment of the structure and reliable fixation. Another type of equipment is a 2-rope grab, designed for moving bulk cargo. The volume of a standard bucket is 2 m³; units with reduced capacity can be used.

Design and benefits

Over the entire serial production cycle, several modifications of the KS-5363 pneumatic wheel crane, marked A, B, C, D, E, were developed and produced.

The power plant of the crane is represented by a two-stroke diesel four-cylinder and an electric power unit, two electricity generators. The kinematic diagram of the winch consists of an electric motor, gearbox, clutch, brake pads and a drum with a rim of teeth.

Hydraulic system

The hydraulic system of the KS-5363 load-lifting crane is based on a pumping device of the NSh-32E brand with a performance parameter of 35 l/minute and a working pressure of 10.5 MPa. The system also includes cylinders, a hydraulic tank and other components.

The mechanism of operation is to supply oil to the pump from the hydraulic tank, from where it then flows to the cylinders after the distribution stage. The latter maintain pressure thanks to special valves. The created pressure and oil influence the piston, which causes it to operate.


Chassis

This part of the car is represented by several bridges. There are 4 wheels per axle, for a total of two axles. To increase the lifting characteristics, external hydraulic supports are installed, thanks to which the base of the equipment expands by 80 cm.

The rear axle drives all wheels. Equipment is transported by towing or by railway platform. In the first case, the crane needs to be folded, in the second, the wheels and boom must be removed.


Equipment

The KS-5363 crane is equipped with basic and additional accessories. Basic devices:

  • boom – 15 m;
  • main rope – 21 mm in diameter and 140 meters in length;
  • additional rope – 21 mm in diameter and 95 m in length.

Replaceable devices and their parameters:

  • replaceable boom – 20-30 meters;
  • replaceable boom reach – 5.5-26.3 meters;
  • maximum load lift on supports – from 0.5 tons to 16.2 tons.

A boom with a lattice extension, a tower device, the reach of which can reach 17.1 m, is also installed.

Control system

Various parts of the equipment are driven by electrical, mechanical and hydraulic control systems. Mechanical is implemented by a remote control that regulates the operation of the supports, wheels, brake system and power take-off.

The hydraulic system implements crane lifting operations. An electric motor controls the operation of the crane and winch. The safety factor is provided by the all-welded frame and drive axles of the base chassis.

Crane operator cabin

The instrument panel is located in the front part of the KS-5363 crane cabin. It is equipped with a thermometer, pressure gauge, ampere and voltmeter, switches and levers. On two sides of the panel there are controllers and power take-off devices, and on one side there is a steering control.

The KS-5363 cabin has an electric heater, it is possible to warm up the windows, a fan and windshield wipers are installed. The operator's seat is adjustable in height and degree of backrest recline.

  • The crane is transported on roads using a towed tractor at a speed of 20 km/h. For this purpose it is equipped with a towing device.
  • By rail When transported by rail, the crane is disassembled into components: the working boom is dismantled and the wheels are removed. The crane is transported on a four-axle railway platform with a capacity of 60 tons. Loading onto the railway platform is carried out by a crane with a lifting capacity of 20 tons.

The KS-5363A crane has a diesel-electric drive. It can operate from an external alternating current network with a voltage of 380 V. The main boom, 17.5 m long, consists of three sections, can be shortened to 15 m, and extended to 20 with inserts; 22.5; 25; 27.5; thirty; 32.5 m. The 20, 25 and 30 m booms can be equipped with a steerable or non-steerable 10 m jib for assisted lifting. The jib is controlled by the main lift. The KS-5363 pneumatic wheel crane is a diesel-electric crane with a lifting capacity of 25 tons, equipped with 25- and 5-ton hooks for the main and auxiliary lifting mechanisms. The crane can use a two-rope grab with a bucket with a capacity of 2 m3.

The jib pneumatic wheel crane uses a multi-motor DC drive powered by its own power plant.

The speeds of the actuators are regulated in the generator - engine (G - E) system by changing the voltage of the main generator feeding the engines.

When moving the KS-5363 crane without a load, the platform is allowed to rotate. The crane on pneumatic wheels has a wide range of speeds for all mechanisms, including the movement mechanism in the working and transport positions.

The jib crane mechanisms are controlled using a mixed system: hydraulic, electrical and mechanical. The main mechanisms are controlled from a remote control with buttons and two command controllers.

A pump hydraulic system is provided to shift the gearbox, control the outriggers, turn the wheels, brake the travel mechanism and lock the differential.

The supports and locking are controlled from a remote control mounted on the running gear, and the remaining mechanisms are controlled from the driver’s cabin.

The hydraulic system of the KS-5363 crane includes a gear pump NSh-32 with a capacity of 35 l/min at a pressure of 10.5 MPa. The crane winches are equipped with rope handlers and spindle limit switches.

The main boom of 15 m is extended with the help of inserts 5 and 10 m long to 20; 25 and 30 m. Jib 8 and 15 m can be mounted on these booms. The crane is equipped with tower jib equipment.

The running gear of the KS-5363 pneumatic jib crane consists of two drive axles. The wheels of both axles are double, size 14.00-20.

The running device is equipped with external hydraulic supports, but the crane can operate without them with a lower load capacity.

Special attachments to the supports allow you to change the base from 4.2 to 5 m. The crane can be towed in a trailer to a tractor using a coupling device at a speed of up to 20 km/h.

The crane is transported by rail with its wheels removed and no boom - on a 60-tonne four-axle railway platform. To load the crane onto the platform, another crane with a lifting capacity of 20 - 25 tons is used.

The power plant of the KS-5363 pneumatic wheel crane consists of a four-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine 6 of the YaMZ-236 brand, an electric motor 2 of the A2-72-4 brand 380 V AC for operation from an external network, two DC 220 V generators: the main 10 brand DK-309B and auxiliary 1 brand P-62.

A 3 - 4 - 8 gear pump 5 of the NSh-10E brand with a working pressure of 7.5 MPa is connected to the power plant through a belt drive system.

Main lift winches of KS-5363 pneumatic jib cranes are designed for lifting and lowering loads, auxiliary lift winches are for lifting smaller loads on a jib or grab.

The kinematic diagrams of the main and auxiliary lifting winches of the KS-5363 truck crane are not fundamentally different from each other.

The main lift winch is driven by electric motor 1. The output shaft of the electric motor is connected to the input shaft of the three-stage gearbox 5 by a gear coupling 2.

On the primary shaft of the KS-5363 crane winch gearbox, a shoe brake pulley 3 is mounted on splines, controlled by a short-stroke electromagnet 4. The four gearbox shafts are supported on its housing using ball bearings.

The gearbox contains three pairs of cylindrical helical gears. The gearbox is connected to the drum 8 by a gear coupling 7, one half of which is fixed to the output shaft of the gearbox, the second - to the drum shaft. Gear coupling 7 simultaneously serves as one of the supports for the drum axis.

On one side, the drum axis is supported by a support 9 using double-row roller bearings. On the other side, the axis is connected by a gear coupling 7 to the output shaft of the gearbox.

The auxiliary boom lift winch of the KS-5363 crane is driven by electric motor 1, power from the electric motor to drum 4 is transmitted through a three-stage gearbox with spur gears - gears 12 - 11, 10 - 6, 2 - 5.

The engine and drum are connected to the gearbox through gear couplings 14. A TKP-300 brake is installed on the input shaft of the gearbox. Limit switch 9 is connected to the output shaft of the gearbox through gear transmission 7 - 8.

The KS-5363 jib winch has a slightly different kinematic design from that discussed above.

The differences are that on the input shaft of the gearbox there is not one brake, but two 11 and 14 types TKP-200, the winch mechanism is equipped with a rope handler 7, driven from a single-thread worm 6 through a chain drive 4 - 5, in which one sprocket is located on the worm 6, the other on the drum shaft 3, the boom winch is not equipped with a limit switch.

The outriggers of the KS-5363 crane consist of 6 swivel arms, 7 hydraulic cylinders with 9 rods, 10 heels or 12 supports. To mount the supports, brackets are welded to the fixed frame 1.

The 6 outrigger arms are connected to the brackets using 5 axes. 7 hydraulic cylinders with 9 retractable rods are mounted on the rotary outrigger arms.

Depending on the operating conditions, the rods can rest on a heel 10 or a stand 12. To uniformly distribute pressure on the ground and reduce the values ​​of their specific indicators, the heel or stand is supported on wooden blocks (pads).

With the help of outriggers, the fixed frame of the KS-5363 crane is hung on them and brought to a horizontal position. The operation of the outriggers is controlled from station 16 using control valve 15.

The height position of the hydraulic cylinders, after the fixed frame is suspended and brought to a horizontal position, is fixed with nuts 8.

The working boom KS-5363 is an articulated lattice structure. The material from which the boom braces and belts are made is an alloy of carbon angle steel. The initial boom length is 15 meters.

It is possible to extend the boom up to 30 meters by mounting intermediate sections in the middle part of the boom.

The model of the KS-5363 B pneumatic boom truck crane allows you to increase the main boom to 32 and a half meters.

The articulated design of the boom and the presence of retractable sections will allow you to quickly change the length of the boom without resorting to additional workloads.

There are four wheels located on the boom head, designed to switch the crane between transport and working modes without the help of an auxiliary device. All elements of the boom and jib have a quick-release pin connection.

When working with bulk cargo, a two-rope grab with a capacity of up to two cubic meters is suspended from the boom. A controlled or uncontrolled jib extension can be mounted on the boom.

When working with tower-boom equipment, a controlled jib with a length of 10 to 20 meters is installed on the tower (the final length is determined by the base length of the tower).

The KS-5363 B crane model is equipped with a jib extension and a double reeving on the cargo pulley, which ensures trouble-free horizontal movement of cargo.

The turning mechanism of the KS-5363 crane consists of an electric motor 10, a gear reducer with gears: bevel 7 - 6 and cylindrical 11 - 3, 5 - 4; runner gear 2 and ring gear 1.

The engine is connected to the gearbox by a chain clutch 9. On a common shaft with one of the coupling halves there is a permanently closed shoe brake 8 type TKP-200.

For the course design, a full-rotating crane on a pneumatic wheeled chassis with a lifting capacity of 30 tons KB - 5363 was chosen. This crane is equipped with outriggers that reduce the specific pressure of the chassis on the ground, thereby increasing the crane’s lifting capacity and extending the service life of the chassis, since there is no excess pressure in the wheel tires air. The crane has a fairly well-equipped control cabin, which has excellent visibility; these factors make it possible to minimize the psychological load on the crane operator and his fatigue.

The crane is equipped with a combined diesel-electric drive and electro-hydraulic drive, which ensures high smoothness of all movements. The crane is intended for the installation of prefabricated reinforced concrete and steel structures, technological equipment of industrial facilities, for the installation of road structures, as well as for loading and unloading operations.

The crane's main hoist winch has a conventional single-engine design, in which the engine is connected via a coupling to a three-stage gearbox, the output end of which is connected to the drum. The clutch connecting the engine and the gearbox has a friction surface, facilitating the operation of the brake, which keeps the load and the hook suspension from moving arbitrarily when the engine is braked.

    high performance in the process of working out disturbances, allowing you to “pick up” a hanging load when it is released;

    presence of an intensity controller;

    preliminary adjustment of the control system to engine parameters and correction of the settings (system adaptation) during operation of the electric drive;

    the necessary set of protection against overloads that can lead to an accident.

The KS 4361A pneumatic wheel crane is equipped with a diesel power plant, including a 75-horsepower naturally aspirated 4-cylinder SMD-14A unit. The engine crankshaft is connected by an elastic coupling to a turbotransformer, which allows you to smoothly regulate the operating speeds of the machine.
