An exhibition entitled “Ice Museum” has opened in Sokolniki Park.
This exhibition was organized by members of the creative group Art Bliss, Pavel Mylnikov and Bagrat Stepanyan, multiple world champions in ice sculpture. Talented artists, sculptors and designers took part in the creation of ice sculptures.
The theme of the project is Ice Universe.
Here you can see aliens from other worlds, a dinosaur, a mysterious cave, a magic castle, and even sit on an ice chair in an ice living room or lie down on an ice bed.
It is planned that the exhibition will change regularly.

Take a walk through the exhibition —>

All visitors are encouraged to dress warmly. You can wear such a coat on top of your outerwear. Take it, don't refuse! It's very cold near the ice!

Double plastic doors and special curtains in the doorways make it possible to constantly maintain a temperature in the exhibition room of 10 degrees

First a small maze... Pay attention to the lighting! It is constantly changing, colors shimmer, the ice plays with colors, sounds are heard from everywhere that create a fabulous atmosphere of everything that happens around.

Having passed the labyrinth, we see the most beautiful Pegasus:

This ice sculpture is called "Swift Pegasus"
According to ancient legends, Pegasus, born from drops of the blood of the Gorgon Medusa, knocked out the Hippocrene spring on Helicon with a blow of his hoof, the water of which gives inspiration to poets. And our snowy Pegasus, a symbol of poetry, beats its hoof and, flapping its wings, flies off to the sky-high heights.

"Magic Castle"
This fairy-tale castle is inhabited by the forces of good and evil. On one side of the castle you can see the evil sorceress spreading her wings angrily. Her evil spell is restrained by the silent knights standing at the entrance to the castle and guarding the “Gate of Desires”. We believe that the cherished wish of anyone who passes under these gates will definitely come true.

"Ice Lounge"
This is an exhibition where all the details of the living room interior are made of ice: fireplace, table, chairs, ice bar, mirror, walls and even the bed. The floor of the living room is also made of ice and is made like a chessboard. In this room you can immediately feel like a master of ice.

Room interiors:

"The Secret of the Third Planet"
Everyone who lived in the Soviet Union remembers the main science-fiction cartoon of that time, “The Secret of the Third Planet,” and its creator, Kir Bulychev. Based on this plot, the sculptors created their own fascinating cosmic composition. Here you will see the six-armed Gromozeka, the young space traveler Alice, the Talker bird, the Vostok rocket flying into the mysterious distance, a fantastic wall that changes space, in which a spiral galaxy unfolds.

Craftsmen are finishing the exhibition.
It is planned that until December 25 it will be possible to watch the masters at work, and closer to the New Year the entire exhibition will be completely ready.

On the eve of the New Year, Moscow offers a lot of interesting events for its guests and residents. The most exciting of these is the ice sculpture exhibition. Winter in the capital is a traditional time for fun. An abundance of ice is used as a material to create compositions of incredible beauty. In Russia, this art has been known since the 17th century, when the Ice House on the Neva was built by order of Empress Anna Ioannovna.

Recently, ice exhibitions can be found throughout Moscow, not only in winter, but at any time of the year. For example, the Ice Sculpture Museum in Sokolniki Park has been delighting visitors for several years now with masterpieces by the capital’s masters from the Art Bliss creative group. But it is during the New Year holidays that the metropolis is literally “teeming” with places where you can watch this miracle for free or buy tickets. Let's find out together what the capital has prepared for lovers of this trend in 2019.

Exhibition on Poklonnaya Hill

A week before the New Year, an exhibition of ice sculptures opens annually on Poklonnaya Hill. Each time, the organizers come up with a new theme. In 2018, a project called “Ice Moscow” was presented. In the family". The exhibition was aimed at creating the main attractions of the capital in miniature:

  • Kremlin,
  • Big theater,
  • The Tsar Bell,
  • GUM, etc.

The harsh appearance of the ice buildings enlivens the tiny city transport, and around the Christmas tree, also made of ice, theatrical performances using light and earth shows take place three times a day. Children can take part in the entertainment projects “Taking the Snow Town” or “Journey through the Labyrinths of the Moscow Metro.” A folk crafts fair is open for adults.

The entrance price for adults will be about 500 rubles. Children's tickets are available for children aged 7 - 14 years old, and the youngest can have fun absolutely free.

Ice sculpture festival at VDNKh

Almost every year, VDNKh hosts the Vyugovey festival. Each event has its own theme, from New Year's characters to UFOs or biblical heroes. In addition to visiting the exhibition, you can go ice skating on the main skating rink of the country, as well as skiing, sleighing, snowboarding, etc. As expected, during the New Year holidays, there is a Christmas tree in the park. Every day, a lot of entertainment events take place next to it, not counting exhibitions and Christmas markets in the pavilions. The museums of Cosmonautics, Illusion, Cinema and the House of Fairy Tales host children's performances. You can relax in numerous cafes and restaurants.

Sokolniki Park "Ice Museum"

The exhibition center occupies 700 m2, of which 500 are given over to the ice sculpture museum. From December to April, the exhibition area maintains a temperature of -10 degrees, so you need to dress warmly. To get to the exhibition hall, you have to go through an icy maze, but it's worth it. Real pleasure will come from the sight of an ice hotel, where even the smallest details are made of ice.

You can see what the best masters of “ice” art are capable of in the garden, where there are flower beds with exotic flowers under a 4-meter tree with fruit. As you understand, all the thinnest fragments are made of ice! The well-known Moscow studio “Bliss Art” worked on the project.

Gallery of Russian Ice Sculpture in Krasnaya Presnya Park

More than 450 m2 of the center is occupied by ice exhibitions. All year round at a temperature of -10 degrees, ice sculptures delight visitors not only with beautiful lighting and musical accompaniment, but also with the unique theme. Here you can see an analogue of the Ice House of Queen Anna Ioannovna, characters from fairy tales by Ershov, Pushkin and fables by Krylov. Photo galleries can be viewed on the official website. 12 of Russia's best sculptors, as well as many famous domestic decorators and designers, took part in its creation. The project has no analogues in the world, so everyone needs to see this miracle!

"Snow and Ice Sculpture" in Luzhniki

Every year, the ice figure festival changes the theme of the exhibition; for example, in 2018, Muscovites and guests of the capital could admire two directions: “Ice Age” and “Camelot”. The first exhibition is made for entertainment and is a network of attractions made of ice:

  • slides,
  • caves,
  • labyrinths, etc.

The second part includes a complex of ice sculptures from the Jurassic period and much more.

Interesting! At any time of the year, ice figures for festive events or decoration of the estate's yard can be ordered from special organizations. The best of them are “Frozeks”, “Land Story” or the creative workshop of Kirill Bair.

It's no secret that ice sculptures in Moscow turn the city into a glowing winter wonderland. Cold iridescent beauty changes the appearance of parks and squares. Yes, the age of creations is short-lived, but how they decorate the snow-covered capital!

Ice sculpture exhibition

The traditional winter festival “Ice Moscow” meets Muscovites on Poklonnaya. On cold days, Victory Park is decorated with sparkling masterpieces - a real winter fairy tale. The project is grandiose. The height of some sculptures reaches 12 meters, and on average their “height” is 4–6 meters. The theme of the festival changes every year.

So, last year there was a significant theme - “Football of Five Continents”. Ice figures were presented from 11 cities hosting the World Cup. In addition, spectators admired 32 sculptures that symbolized the countries participating in the World Cup. To build such a large-scale “city,” 2,000 tons of natural ice were brought to the capital.

Project organizer Al. Kovtunets noted: “The ice comes from Lake Baikal, the lakes of Arkhangelsk and Yekaterinburg. The guests saw sculptures of world football stars and national symbols.”

Translucent “crystal” sculptures presented the participating countries with recognizable objects: the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and other iconic buildings. It is noteworthy that Portugal was “represented” by a four-meter figure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and Japan by a samurai against the backdrop of the White Heron castle. It was truly interesting and educational.

Festival guests remembered:

  • Egyptian pyramids;
  • caravan from Saudi Arabia;
  • Orthodox churches;
  • Russian huts;
  • Uruguayan monument “Fingers”;
  • a copy of the Moscow Kremlin, next to which there was a photo zone.

Sculptures in Sokolniki Park and VDNKh

Unfortunately, the ice sculpture museum is no longer open. It was closed in the spring of 2012. And before that, in Sokolniki Park, in the hall with freezers, visitors could examine the ice room, completely suitable for life - dishes, interior items. This beauty could be admired all year round. And since the exhibition is now open-air, the icy beauty is only available in winter.

The ice festival “Vyugovey” has been delighting connoisseurs of “winter” works of art for several years. Spectators come to VDNKh during the preparation stage to see how an ordinary block of ice turns into a masterpiece. The imagination of the sculptors is amazing. There are sparkling UFOs, spaceships, fairy-tale characters, and heroes of your favorite cartoons.

Where else in the Mother See are ice sculptures displayed?

New Year's Eve transforms the capital. In many of its points, fairy-tale towns appear in compositions of snow and ice. Winter art objects in Izmailovsky Park, a festival in Luzhniki with “cold” rides and traditional ice slides - beautiful and fun.

Muzeon Park is decorated in a winter style. Surprisingly, this site also hosts a symposium, where professional sculptors help amateurs create their masterpiece.

Teams of sculptors from different cities, ice from Siberia and the northern regions - everything to decorate Moscow with cozy winter corners with ice sculptures. And although the festival has been running for several years, each time it surprises with its creations of indescribable beauty - buildings, fairy tale characters, figures of famous people, UFOs, rockets, abstract objects.

Colorful shop windows, light installations, festive illuminations and ice sculptures form the pre-New Year look of the capital.

When and where it will be possible to see ice sculptures in Moscow in 2019, as well as get acquainted with the news of the project and details of its organization, the information that the founders of this event shared with us will help you find out.

Mesmerizing harmony of ice and light

Perhaps the largest and most popular exhibition of ice sculptures in the Russian capital is the annual Ice Moscow festival, which traditionally opens its doors in late December. Throughout the entire New Year holidays, the park will delight its visitors with grandiosely beautiful figures and architectural structures. According to the organizers of the project, the height of some of the sculptures that will be presented at the 2019 exposition will reach 13 meters, which will be a record high in the entire history of this festival.

The theme of “Ice Moscow” deserves special attention. The last edition of the exhibition was dedicated to the World Cup, which took place in Russia in 2019. Ice masterpieces were presented by craftsmen from 11 cities of our country hosting matches of the World Cup, and the sculptures they created symbolized the countries participating in the championship. According to expert estimates, more than 2,000 tons of natural ice were required to organize the 2018 exposition.

The festival guests especially liked:

  • ten-meter Egyptian pyramids;
  • a copy of the Moscow Kremlin;
  • Uruguayan monument “Fingers”;
  • legendary Orthodox churches in Moscow;
  • Saudi Arabian caravans;
  • the symbol of Paris is the Eiffel Tower;
  • Japanese samurai and White Heron Castle.

According to preliminary information, the operating hours of the future exhibition will be the same as in 2018. For everyone who wants to enjoy the creations of the best masters of ice art, the doors of the festival will be open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 (7 days a week). The price of invitations for adults will be 350 rubles, for children - 250 rubles. Children under 5 years old (accompanied by parents) will be able to take advantage of a special discount offer. Entry for this category of visitors will be provided absolutely free.

Ice masterpieces at VDNH and Sokolniki

Until 2012, one of the most visited winter exhibitions in Moscow was the ice sculpture museum in Sokolniki Park. Unlike previous years, this exhibition is currently open only in the winter season. During the days of its constant work, visitors had the opportunity to see the ice room, completely suitable for life. Thanks to heavy-duty freezers operating around the clock, this splendor could be admired at any time of the year.

A worthy alternative to the festival in Sokolniki is an exhibition of ice sculptures located at VDNKh. The interesting thing is that spectators come here even at the stage of preparation for its opening. And this is not at all surprising, because before their eyes appears the most incredible picture of the transformation of giant ice blocks into masterpieces of art. As part of the 2019 festival, residents and guests of the city will be presented with sparkling UFOs, characters from their favorite fairy tales, popular cartoon characters, as well as other fantastic objects that will stun the imagination of visitors.

Ice sculpture gallery at Krasnaya Presnya

In this recreation park, citizens and tourists will find many sites on which magnificent architectural compositions will be built from snow and ice, in which one can easily recognize the legendary monuments of Russian architecture, including the ice analogue of the House of Queen Anna Ioannovna. In addition to historical buildings, figures of colorful fairy-tale characters familiar to every resident of our country from childhood will be presented here. It is worth mentioning that 12 of the best sculptors in Russia, as well as a team consisting of world-famous designers and decorators, will take an active part in creating the exhibition. Original photos and video materials of the gallery at Krasnaya Presnya can be easily found on its official portal.

Snow and ice fairy tale at Luzhniki

The ice sculpture festival, which takes place annually in the Winter Fun Park at Luzhniki, is a wonderful opportunity to take a break from the “gray” workdays. Last year's exhibition themes were “Camelot” and “Ice Age”. The first part of the exhibition was entirely devoted to the fairy-tale characters of the fairy tale of the same name. In different places of the park, spectators could enjoy figures of knights and dragons of incredible beauty and size, as well as fantastic castles sparkling in the beams of laser spotlights. As for the second part of the exposition, it was represented by a grandiose complex of attractions, ice caves, game slides and labyrinths.

In 2019, the creators of the project promise to surprise Muscovites and city guests with equally beautiful ice compositions that will surely impress both adults and the youngest visitors to the exhibition.

Exhibition opening hours in Moscow:

Don't miss the opportunity to visit exhibitions with your family or friends. Stunning ice sculptures will definitely give your loved ones a festive mood and leave a lot of indelible impressions in their memory.
