The OBSTROYTECH company offers you, dear customers, a wide range of sealing materials: for socket connections(linen, FUM tape, heel), flange connections(paronite, rubber gaskets, technical plates), stuffing box seals, putties, sealants.

Sealing materials are used to achieve the maximum level of sealing of connections of various types between individual sections of the pipeline. The choice of gasket material depends on the temperatures and composition of the working environment in the pipes, as well as on how often maintenance work is performed. Sealing and gasket materials of all categories offered by our company comply with regulatory documents and certificates.

Materials for sealing socket joints:

  • FUM tape is a fluoroplastic sealing material used to seal pipeline joints along threads and is intended for those pipelines that carry aggressive gases and liquids in the temperature range from -60 to +200 degrees.
  • Plumbing flax - used for sealing socket joints, is a natural product made from thin, uniform, long-fiber, combed flax. Used in heat supply, water supply, etc.
  • Kabolka (resin rope) - linen rope impregnated with a resin composition, indispensable for caulking (stuffing) socket joints of cast iron sewer pipes.

Materials for sealing flange connections:

  • Paronite is a sheet cushioning material made from a mixture of asbestos fibers, fillers and synthetic rubber of the vulcanizing group. Sheet paronite is used to seal flange connections under conditions of exposure to aggressive media, high temperatures and pressure. The scope of application of paronite is quite wide; it is used in the electric power industry and water supply. Paronite is supplied in sheets with a thickness of 0.4 to 6 mm.
  • Technical plate - used for the manufacture of rubber products used to seal fixed joints, prevent friction between metal surfaces, to absorb single impact loads, and also as gaskets and flooring. The technical plates meet the requirements of GOST 7338-90 (TMKShch - heat-freeze, acid-alkali resistant, MBS - oil and petrol resistant) or GOST 17133-83 (rubber technical plate for products that come into contact with food).
  • Gland seals are an impregnated inorganic material that can withstand high temperatures. Asbestos can be used as a cushioning material by graphitizing it.

The sealing and sealing of flange connections directly affects the amount of operating pressure that the pipeline can withstand during operation, as well as the reliability and safety of the system as a whole.

This article discusses gaskets for flange connections, their types, sizes and application features. We will study metal, paronite and rubber gasket materials and provide recommendations for their selection.

Contents of the article

Functional purpose and need for use

Flange gaskets are a sealing material that, during operation, is in a compressed position between two flanges, which, due to the pressure of adjacent mounting plates, fills the free space between the connected ends of the pipeline.

When choosing a gasket material, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of the working environment of the pipeline - its pressure, temperature, corrosive and chemical aggressiveness, as well as the configuration of the mating flange plates.

The following operational requirements are put forward for gasket products:

  • elasticity;
  • resistance to the work environment;
  • corrosion resistance;
  • absence of thermal deformations in a given temperature range;
  • hardness, which should be less than that of the material from which the flanges are made, so that the gasket, when clamped, does not deform the surface of the fastening plate (taken into account when choosing metal products).

The gasket material installed between the two flanges fills the microscopic defects present on the front walls of the fastening plates - cavities, microcracks, depressions and roughness, which cause leaky connections.

During operation, the flange gasket experiences constant extrusion loads, which are created by internal pressure in the pipeline. To prevent leaks and depressurization of the joint, the pressure exerted by the bolts on the flange must create a mechanical stress sufficient to counteract the hydrostatic extrusion forces.

Normative documents

Technical standards for flange gaskets provide a fairly extensive regulatory framework that sets requirements for the manufacture, selection and operation of products. The main regulations are:

  • GOST No. 15180 for flat elastic products;
  • GOST No. 28759.6-90 for gaskets made of non-metallic materials;
  • GOST No. 28579.8-90 for steel products.

There is also a separate GOST No. 10493-81 for sealing lenses intended for use in systems with increased pressure of 100-200 MPa.

Types of cushioning materials

Depending on the material of manufacture, all flange gaskets are classified into the following types:

  • non-metallic (made from rubber, fluoroplastic, paronite and asbestos cardboard);
  • steel (divided into subgroups according to cross-sectional shape - oval and octagonal);
  • combined type (made of heat-stabilized graphite or graphite fluoroplastic).

The most common are non-metallic gaskets made of paronite and rubber. Let's look at them in more detail.

Paronite products

Paronite seals, according to technical requirements, can be used for sealing flanges of designs 1, 5, 8 and 9 on pipelines with pressure from 1 to 20 MPa. Product sizes vary in the range of 10-3000 mm.

Paronite gaskets are designed for sealing. Such seals are used for pipelines with various working media - water, air, steam, oil products. Paronite seals can withstand temperatures from -50 to +500 degrees.

There are 7 modifications of paronite, each of which is used for the manufacture of seals for different functional purposes:

  1. PON-A - the material can withstand pressure up to 4.5 MPa, is intended for vapor, liquid and gaseous working media, heavy and light oil products, as well as for pipelines transporting ammonia.
  2. PON-B - has an operating pressure increased to 6.4 MPa and an expanded scope of application; pipelines for transporting nitrogen, liquid oxygen and alcohol are added to the above areas.
  3. PON-V - the material is used for sealing systems pumping oil products, air, liquids (including antifreeze and antifreeze) and fuel-air compositions. The PON-V seal has a maximum pressure of 4 MPa.
  4. PBM is an oil-resistant paronite, intended for systems with pressures up to 10 MPa. The maximum pressure is reduced to 1.6 MPa in the case of installing seals on main gas pipelines, and in a gas environment the operating temperature range is reduced to -40 +70 degrees.
  5. PMB-1 is a modified material characterized by an extended operating temperature from -5 to +250 degrees and the ability to withstand pressure of 15 MPa. Most often used in the manufacture of gaskets for systems transporting oil, petroleum products and EPS liquids.
  6. PC is a paronite resistant to acidic environments, intended for the chemical industry. Maximum pressure 10 MPa, temperature – 250 degrees.
  7. PA – paronite reinforced with steel mesh. Such seals, in addition to smooth flange connections, can be used to seal tongue-and-groove flanges. Not used in chemically aggressive environments, operating pressure up to 10 MPa, temperature up to 180 0.

As an alternative to paronite, fluoroplastic is often used - a material with a wide temperature range, from -260 to +260 degrees. Fluoroplastic is resistant to most chemically aggressive environments - alkalis, acids and solvents, which significantly expands the scope of its use.

Rubber gaskets

For the production of flange sealing elements, several modifications of rubber are used, which can be divided into the following types:

  • frost-resistant;
  • thermally stabilized (heat resistant);
  • oil and petrol resistant;
  • resistant to acid and alkaline environments;
  • food.

Rubber gaskets have an advantage over their analogues in terms of elasticity - due to the softness of the material, to achieve a tight joint, it is not necessary to exert significant effort when tightening the flanges with bolts. Another advantage is that rubber seals are completely impermeable to both liquids and gases and vapors.

The dimensions of the seals are specified in GOST No. 15180, according to which products are manufactured in diameters 10-3000 mm with wall thickness 3-20 mm. Rubber gaskets of large diameters (from 500 mm) can be produced in a composite configuration that requires gluing when mounted on a flange. For gluing, adhesives of the BF-2 and XKS brands are used.

Due to the deterioration of the performance properties of the material under strong compression, rubber gaskets should not be deformed by more than 50% of the original size.

Rubber products have a key drawback in the form of a limited operating temperature, the maximum of which is +50 degrees. Seals made of heat-resistant rubber can withstand up to +140 0. Maximum operating pressure – 20 MPa.

For flange connections used under high pressure conditions, it is more rational to use a copper gasket (made of M1 or M2 grade copper) or products made from annealed sheet aluminum. Such seals provide the maximum level of tightness at pressures up to 100 MPa.

There are widely available kits on the market, consisting of seals that come along with fasteners - nuts and bolts or washers. Such kits Available in sizes 15-1000 mm. For large flanges (sizes 1000-3000 mm), rarely used even in industrial applications, sealing materials and fasteners are selected separately.

The cost of the kit varies greatly depending on the size of the flange, for example: the price of a kit with a diameter of 15 mm is 250 rubles, DN 500 mm is 23,000 rubles.

We produce gaskets from sheet paronite GOST 481-80 of the following brands: General purpose paronite PON, Oil and petrol resistant paronite PMB, PMB-1, Acid-resistant paronite PC, Mesh reinforced paronite PA, Electrolytic paronite PE, PON-A, PON-B, PON-V, VATI-22 non-asbestos paronite with other thicknesses: 0.5 mm, 0.6 mm, 0.8 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm , figured, gaskets with a tongue, including with a mounting tail (mounting ear), gasket under the bracket for facade systems.

Paronite gaskets according to GOST in stock and to order from the manufacturer in Moscow

At a specific pressure level (usually 320 MPa), paronite reaches its yield point. What does this mean? If the gasket is of sufficient thickness, then when exposed to pressure, paronite fills all loose connections, thus sealing joints and discontinuities.
And if we are talking about paronite gaskets, which are used during a work process with fairly high technical parameters, then they must be made exclusively from the highest quality raw materials. Such gaskets are characterized by a high level of reliability, as well as a wide range of applications.

From us you can order high-quality paronite gaskets, which are manufactured in accordance with all technical requirements. Our products meet all technical requirements and can serve you for many years. Testimonials from our satisfied customers are evidence of quality. The entire gasket manufacturing process is controlled by a hardware and software complex, which is programmed in such a way as to optimize the material, that is, the amount of waste during cutting of solid material is reduced to a minimum. The manufacturing method itself is called industrial plotter cutting, thanks to which it is possible to produce square or rectangular spacers (square or rectangular in shape) with holes for dowel fasteners for facade systems of varying complexity and configuration.

Paronite gaskets used to break the “cold bridge” are square and rectangular with and without round and oval holes for fasteners.
Our company offers the buyer gaskets not only of standard sizes, manufactured according to ready-made drawings or standards. We also manufacture products according to the sizes specified by the client. You can also order from us not only large batches of paronite gaskets, but also single copies. Paronite gaskets for suspended ventilated facades.

The PROMRESURSSERVIS catalog presents a large assortment of rubber products. Here you can buy paronite gaskets GOST 15180-86 at affordable prices per kg. Paronite modifications are made in accordance with state standards and consist of a mixture of chrysotile asbestos, rubber, various fillers and vulcanization liquid. The products are characterized by high performance characteristics and resistance to various aggressive environments.

For the manufacture of paronite gaskets, sheet paronite is used, obtained by vulcanization of asbestos fibers mixed with solvent, rubber, mineral fillers and sulfur. The components are combined using high pressure rolling. The paronite sheets from which the gaskets are made are easy to cut and chop; The thickness of the sheets can reach 6 millimeters. If necessary, materials can be impregnated with special compounds designed to combat microorganisms.

Ring-type paronite gaskets are used as seals when connecting pipeline elements. The products are available in two versions: “A” - for flanges of type “1” and “B” - for flange connections “ledge-recess”. Compared to rubber models, such gaskets withstand high temperatures better and retain their properties longer. Paronite is compatible with such media as fresh, superheated and salt water, steam, inert and neutral gases, air, ammonia in liquid and gaseous forms, alcohol solutions, liquefied oxygen and nitrogen, and petroleum products.

Main characteristics of paronite gaskets

PROMRESURSSERVIS also sells wafer-type rubber gaskets designed for sealing flange connections. The products are designed to operate at temperatures up to +110°C and a pressure of no more than 2.5 MPa. The company provides a guarantee for paronite gaskets for a period of 12 to 24 months. For residents of Moscow and Moscow Region, orders are delivered by courier.
