The table is one of the main attributes of the kitchen. Today, kitchen tables are made from a wide variety of materials and designs.

The table can be very small or large and roomy, if the size of the room allows.

Making a kitchen table with your own hands is not difficult, it only takes a little time and desire.

Kitchen table options

Kitchen tables differ in purpose:

  • working kitchen table;
  • bar counter.

Materials from which you can make a kitchen table:

  • wood;
  • plywood, chipboard, chipboard, MDF, OSB;
  • glass;
  • metal;
  • plastic;
  • stone.

Adherents of the classics in the interior prefer wood as the most wear-resistant, durable and beautiful material. Perfect for chrome legs.

Extendable kitchen table

Materials and tools

Materials required for the manufacture of a sliding table:

  • chipboard (thickness not less than 18 mm);
  • PVC edge 0.4 mm and 2 mm;
  • bar 40 x 40 mm, length 710 mm;
  • mechanism for automatic lifting of the insert;
  • self-tapping screws, metal corner 30 x 30 mm;
  • dowels 10 mm;
  • varnish or other paint and varnish material (to match the countertop made of laminated chipboard);
  • PVA glue (or wood glue);
  • piano loop - 1 pc.;
  • plywood (thickness not less than 20 mm);
  • synchronous roll-out guides, length 300 mm - 2 pcs.

Note: instead of the mechanism of synchronous extension of the table top, you can use simple full roll-out guides. If there is a need to install not one, but two or three inserts, then, accordingly, a different mechanism must be purchased for them.

Tools:
  • pencil, square, meter;
  • jigsaw;
  • iron;
  • screwdriver;
  • sandpaper of medium and fine grit;
  • brushes for varnish and glue.

Manufacturing steps

First of all, we draw and cut out all the necessary parts from plywood and chipboard with an electric jigsaw. Sawing must be precise, because all parts of the tabletop must be tightly adjacent to each other.

The dimensions of the finished table are 900 x 700 mm and 1300 x 700 mm.

Sliding table blanks:

  • bars 710 x 40 x 40 mm - 4 pcs.;
  • countertop laminated chipboard 700 x 450 mm - 2 pcs.;
  • LDSP insert 700 x 400 mm - 1 pc.

Take on arms: the insert can be solid or consist of two parts, which are fastened together with piano hinges.

For decorative sheathing of the mechanism are used:
  • side part of the table chipboard (box) 420 x 120 mm - 4 pcs.;
  • end of the box LDSP 600 x 120 mm - 2 pcs.;
  • plywood 498 x 120 mm - 4 pcs. and 830 x 120 mm - 2 pcs.

Step 1. After the cut is made, we proceed to the processing of the legs - bars and plywood. We process them with medium-grained sandpaper and cover with varnish or any other material. After complete drying (at least 8-10 hours), we process the surface and especially the edges with fine-grained sandpaper. Apply a second coat of varnish and wait for it to dry completely.

Step 2 With a 2 mm PVC edge, we paste over the side outer parts of the tabletop - 3 sides for each part of the sliding tabletop. The insert has a top and bottom. All other side parts are pasted over with a 0.4 mm PVC edge. For gluing, we sand the side parts, apply an edge and heat this place with an iron through a sheet of paper. As soon as the edge sags a little, it sticks. Immediately remove the iron and smooth the surface with a soft cloth. We remove the side excess of the edge with a metal ruler.

Step 3 To install the sliding mechanism on the countertop, we chose the standard size - 670 mm / 1330 mm. We fold the table top, consisting of three parts, face down. Then, using self-tapping screws, we fasten the mechanism to the countertop. In accordance with the instructions for assembling the mechanism, we attach all wooden parts to it. For beauty, you can sheathe the mechanism with a box of plywood and chipboard.

Step 4 We fasten the legs from the bars to the tabletop with the help of metal corners. Before fastening, we prepare a 5 mm hole in the center of each leg. We drill the same holes in the table, 5 mm long. Lubricate one side of the dowels with PVA glue (or any wood glue) and put them into the holes in the legs. When the glue dries, you can grease the second side with glue and put the legs into the tabletop, removing excess glue from the surface of the tabletop.

Finishing and decor

The tabletop, made of laminated materials, does not need additional finishing. The wooden parts of the table should also be varnished.

Decorating is a great solution if you are not satisfied with the appearance of the surface for any reason or, for example, when restoring a kitchen dining table with your own hands.

There are many ways to make a table unique, memorable and dressy, including:

    • Decoration is carried out using rice paper, ordinary multilayer napkins or other materials that have several paper layers and a pattern. Pieces of paper are superimposed on a flat, fat-free surface and blotted with decoupage glue (or PVA diluted with water);

    • Drawing with a stencil. Various materials can be used as a stencil: lace, paper, mesh, etc. It is applied to the surface to be decorated and patterns are applied with paint of a contrasting color using a can, brush or roller;

    • Craquelure. Artificial aging of the table surface. To do this, varnish is applied to the surface, then on top, without waiting until it dries, a thin layer of egg white or PVA glue is applied. This mixture forms small cracks in the coloring on the surface, creating the effect of antiquity;

    • Thread. The wooden parts of the table can be processed on a milling machine, obtaining the most beautiful decorative elements and a table that no one will have;

  • Art painting and burning. These decor methods are used less often than others, as they require certain skills.

When choosing a decoration method, it should be borne in mind that several layers of paint or varnish can interfere with the normal folding of the countertop parts. The coating will quickly be damaged and will have to be removed. Therefore, if you definitely want to decorate the kitchen, you should take into account in advance, at the design and assembly stages, that the thickness of the countertop will increase by a couple of millimeters.

How to make a kitchen table with your own hands, see the video:

With a wooden table-top at the minimum financial expenses.

The house has been rebuilt and renovations are in progress. The kitchen was also ready at that time. The question was about the kitchen table. Stores were looking at wooden tables. Normal tables with a wooden top (not chipboard) cost from 3,000 rubles. After looking at the whole thing, I decided to make a table with my own hands.

To make the table I bought:

  1. type-setting wooden furniture board 60cm wide and 3m long (there was no less),
  2. wooden beam 4 x 4 cm,
  3. 4 table legs. (they are sold in furniture fittings stores),
  4. screw nuts for fastening the legs.

Everything about everything took 1500 rubles.

The dimensions of our future table are 60 cm by 160 cm (half of the furniture board), based on the size of the kitchen), so the cost of the table was set at just over 1000 rubles.

Having cut the tabletop to the size of the table, I set about sawing the ends of the timber at 45 degrees.

The beam is necessary to stiffen the countertop. We start it around the perimeter of the table from the bottom side. Without a bar, the tabletop will sag.

We apply the blanks of the bars to the countertop and check whether everything fits together without gaps.

We fasten the beam to the countertop with screws.

On the reverse side of the tabletop we mark the places for attaching the legs and holes.

We drill holes in the countertop for the screws. Drill diameter - 10 mm. Screw nut diameter - 12 mm.
To facilitate the screwing of the nut, you can set the stroke with a tap to 12mm. The pitch of the tap is equal to the pitch of the thread on the screw nut.

We do all this with four legs.

The table is ready and stands on legs. Let's start sanding and varnishing it.

I cleaned the table with sandpaper, first 80, then finer - 150. I made the edges of the table and bars a little rounded. Somewhere irregularities moonlighted.

After careful polishing, I proceeded to varnish the table.

We had a matte varnish (we took it earlier to cover the floor). After applying the first layer, let the varnish dry. After drying, the pile rises. Again we pass with fine sandpaper and cover with a second layer of varnish.

If necessary, after the second layer, we also sand it with sandpaper and varnish the table, as I did.

The table is ready!

Instead of metal legs, you can also use a square beam or ready-made balusters, which are sold ready-made.

Probably when I make another table, I will use balusters. They come in different sizes. It is desirable to use balusters with a diameter of more than 70 mm. They are also fastened with screws.

An oval-shaped folding kitchen table is perfect for those who like to dine with the whole family and receive guests from time to time. It's pretty easy to do it yourself. Self-made furniture is distinguished by original design and the ability to take into account individual needs, due to the characteristics of the room and the taste of the owners of the house.

Why an oval table

An oval-shaped folding dining table is good because it has rounded corners. This avoids "unpleasant collisions" and is especially appreciated by those who have small children at home. The oval shape suggests the location of the table in the center of the room. However, if necessary, you can put such a table at the kitchen corner.

Preparation for work

Before starting work, you must:

  1. Determine the dimensions of the future table.
  2. Make sketches and drawings of the design of the product and its individual parts.
  3. The choice of material for countertops and supports.
  4. Calculate the required amount of materials.
  5. Purchase materials, fasteners and accessories.

Determining the size and shape of the table

The size of the product depends on the area of \u200b\u200bthe kitchen and the number of people that need to be placed at the table. The optimal solution for a medium-sized kitchen would be a folding dining table measuring 120 × 80 cm (folded), consisting of two parts with dimensions of 60 × 80 cm each.

It will be correct to draw a sketch of the future product on a scale in order to understand what ratio of the width and length of the table will allow you to maintain a beautiful rounded shape even when unfolded, as well as a size suitable for a particular kitchen.

For a kitchen of this size, a folding oval dining table measuring 120 × 80 cm is suitable if you put it with a kitchenette. If you place the table in the center of the room, access to kitchen cabinets and household appliances will be difficult. When receiving guests, you can put it in the middle of the kitchen.

The optimal length of the dining table top section, for the convenient location of one person, is 60 cm. The sketch shows that a 120 × 80 cm extendable table is perfect for four to six people (six will fit behind it if you push the table to the center of the kitchen). In the unfolded form at such a table it will be possible to seat up to 8 people. If you need a folding dining table for more guests, you can increase the size of the insert or make two of the same.

Execution of drawings

It is necessary to complete the following drawings and sketches (option with a two-piece table top 60 × 80 cm and one insert 40 × 80 cm):

  • drawing of the details of the main table top, to determine the desired shape of the table and the corresponding rounding radius;

Two-piece table top 60×80 cm, rounding radius 20 cm

Two-piece table top 60×80 cm, rounding radius 30 cm

Two-piece table top 60×80 cm, rounding radius 40 cm

  • insert drawing 80x40 cm;
  • sketch of the tabletop in extended form;
  • for tables with a tsarga (underframe) a drawing of the details of the tsarga.

The specified dimensions of the drawer parts are suitable for a folding dining table measuring 120 × 80 cm in a shifted position. It is necessary to make two parts with dimensions of 80 × 12 cm and 40 × 12 cm.

Material selection

Folding kitchen table details:

  • countertop and inserts to it;
  • supports (legs);
  • tsarga;
  • edge (for tables made of chipboard and MDF);
  • extension mechanism;
  • countertop clamps;
  • fasteners.

For the manufacture of a folding table top, you can use wood, chipboard, MDF, natural stone and glass. Chipboard and MDF can be either laminated or plastic coated. The thickness of the tabletop can be from 18 to 48 mm (sometimes more).

Natural stone is the most durable, moisture and heat resistant material. But this material has a significant disadvantage, this is a rather high cost. Alternatively, you can use a chipboard or MDF countertop, decorated with ceramic tiles.

When choosing the color and thickness of the countertop, it is imperative to take into account the design of the rest of the furnishings in the kitchen, especially the thickness and texture of the countertop of the kitchen set.

The legs can be made from the same material as the tabletop, or you can purchase ready-made metal supports. They are of two types: for tables with a frame and for frameless designs.

The drawer side can also be made from the same material as the countertop, or from any other material that is suitable in thickness and texture.

For processing slices of chipboard and MDF, edges are used:

The most budgetary and least practical option is the melamine edge, it is the thinnest and is a paper tape with a density of 120-130 g per square meter. m. Its thickness is 0.1 mm.

The PVC edge differs from it in greater thickness and wear resistance.

The ABS edge is made of plastic and is characterized by increased impact resistance and resistance to external influences.

Acrylic edging is often referred to as 3D edging due to its "bulky" effect. This is the most advantageous, in terms of appearance, option.

PVC, ABS and acrylic edges have a thickness of 0.4 to 2 mm. Depending on the thickness of the countertop and other details of the product, a suitable edge width is selected, which ranges from 18 to 55 mm. On sale there are types of edges with an already applied adhesive layer.

There are three types of sliding mechanisms for folding tables according to the method of fastening:

  • for barless tables;
  • for internal fastening to the side;
  • for external fastening to the king.

According to the method of expansion, there are two types of mechanisms: synchronous and non-synchronous. In the first case, the details of the tabletop are moved apart at the same time, in the second case, separately.

When buying, you need to take into account the length of the mechanism not extended and the maximum size of the inserts (these parameters should be indicated in the characteristics of the mechanism).

For a folding table without a frame measuring 120 × 80 cm in a shifted state with two inserts of 40 or 50 cm, a mechanism 98 cm long with a maximum insert size of 50 cm (48/980 / T2S) is suitable.

To fix the countertop, you will additionally need special locks-clamps. Their number depends on how many inserts the table will have.

Calculation of the necessary materials

Based on the completed drawings, you need to calculate:

  • the total area of all table parts made of wood, chipboard or MDF;
  • edge footage, for tables made of chipboard and MDF.

For a table without a frame with a table top made of two pieces of chipboard measuring 60 × 80 cm and one insert 40 cm wide, you will need: 1.3 sq. m. Chipboard, 9 m edges (with a margin), 4 metal supports, sliding mechanism, 4 tabletop clamps, dowels and self-tapping screws.

Table making process

  1. Cut out the details of the table according to the drawings and cut them out.
  2. Glue the cut edges.
  3. Assemble the table.
  4. Finish finishing.

Tools:

  • large ruler or tape measure;
  • pencil;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • milling cutter;
  • belt grinder;
  • drill;
  • iron or building hair dryer.

cutting

Chipboard and MDF can be purchased in the form of sheets (boards) of a certain size. The minimum dimensions of a chipboard or MDF sheet are 244 x 120 cm. From the above calculation, it can be seen that for the manufacture of an oval sliding kitchen table measuring 120 x 80 cm (160 x 80 when extended), one such sheet will be needed.

Examples of cutting a chipboard sheet for an oval sliding kitchen table

The main tabletop will consist of two pieces 60x80 cm in size. In addition to it, there will be one piece 40x80 cm in size. The rest of the material can be used to make stools and as a result you will get a wonderful kitchen set.

You can cut out parts using a jigsaw, rounding is done with a milling machine.

edge banding

First you need to carefully treat all the sections with a sealant (silicone), let it dry, and then you can start gluing the edge. For this, an iron or a building hair dryer is used.

It is necessary to pre-clean the sections from wood dust. Then attach the edge so that it completely covers the cut (the width of the edge must be greater than the thickness of the countertop). Turn on the iron and set the "synthetics" mode. Lay newspaper between the iron and the cut and start heating the edge. After it starts to stick, smooth the finished area with a cloth and continue to iron with the iron. You need to smooth it until the edge cools down.

If the edge does not have its own adhesive layer, then any universal adhesive can be used. The cut surface must be smooth and dust-free. Glue must be applied to both the edge and the end and glued together, while smoothing with a roller or cloth. Instead of a cloth and a roller, you can use a wooden block covered with felt.

After completion of work, it is required to carefully check for fragments with a loose fit. Then you need to chip off the edge protruding beyond the edges, remove the remaining glue and sand the edges with sandpaper.

Better bonding can be achieved with a building hair dryer. A jet of air with a temperature of 200 degrees should be directed only to the adhesive layer. Well-heated glue should protrude from under the edge. Remove excess glue only after complete drying.

Table assembly

Assembly is performed in the following sequence:

  • Fold the halves of the main countertop together.
  • Attach a sliding mechanism to them.

  • Install table brackets.

  • Move the halves of the main tabletop and insert the removable part.
  • Fasten the latches on the insert so that, when extended, their parts coincide with the corresponding parts of the main tabletop.

  • Screw the legs to the table top.

To do this, on the reverse side of the countertop we apply markings with a pencil to determine the place of attachment of the legs. The optimal distance from the edge of the tabletop to the leg is 10 cm. On the beam connecting the center of the circle along which the tabletop was rounded with its edge, we retreat from the edge of the tabletop 13 cm (10 cm + 3 cm leg radius) and put a point. This point will coincide with the center of the support.

A do-it-yourself kitchen table is both an opportunity to save money and a way to provide the kitchen with unique furniture that fits perfectly into the available space. However, it is important to correctly determine the dimensions and shape of the future structure.

How to make a wooden dining table

A table made of solid wood is beautiful, natural and, as a rule, expensive. But buying such a table is not necessary, because you can make it yourself with no less quality and for much less money.

So, to make a dining table with your own hands, you will need:

  1. 4 things. baluster legs for the table, 73 cm high and not too thin;
  2. For the tabletop: 4 dry edged wooden boards 1 m long (for a table 60 cm wide);

  1. For the frame: 2 boards 80 cm long and 2 boards 40 cm long.

Prepare tools: planer, grinder or grinder, jigsaw for cutting boards, circular saw, drill (with 8 mm drill), screwdriver, sandpaper, self-tapping screws (30 mm), wood glue, dowels, clamps (preferably). And, of course, a pencil, tape measure, gloves and goggles will come in handy.

To finish the table, you will need varnish, stain or paint along with a primer. Let's make the table first. To do this, you need to accurately fit all 4 boards to the same length - 100 cm. If your boards were not sawn at the sawmill, then they also need to be trimmed in width and thickness. Then they need to be carefully polished with a planer. The better you sand the wood, the smoother the countertop will be. Work the edges well so that the boards fit as tightly as possible to each other.

We will connect the boards not with screws and nails, but with glue and dowels (chops). To do this, we make the same marks on the edges of all boards in increments of 10-15 cm and drill holes for the dowels with an 8 mm drill. Then we sand the edges and apply wood glue to them and into the holes made. Now we drive the chopsticks processed with the same glue into the holes and connect all 4 bars in turn. We remove excess glue on the surface with sandpaper and grind it, as well as all edges with a planer. At this stage, you can go over the countertop with a metal sponge to give the wood texture.

So, the tabletop is ready. Now you need to fasten the legs and make a base for it.

To do this, you need to evenly fasten the balusters with short transverse boards with glue and screws. The glue dries for at least 12 hours.

We fasten the legs to the long crossbars and drill holes in them in order to install the countertop later.

After the glue in the frame dries, you can proceed to install the countertop on it (frame).

If you want to make the table longer and wider, then you need to strengthen the table with two additional cross bars, as shown in the photo.

So, the table is almost ready, it remains only to treat it with varnish or stain or paint it, having previously primed it.

What color to paint the table? Start from personal preferences and the color of the rest of the furniture. Below is the most versatile option - the table top and legs are stained.

You can see the main mistakes of staining a tree with your own hands in this video.

If you like gloss, then the surface of the table can be stained, and varnished on top (example in the photo below), or simply varnished.

You can paint the legs white, and stain the countertop to get a design like in the next photo.

How to make a kitchen table from chipboard

A do-it-yourself kitchen table made of laminated chipboard is a practical and budget solution. Such countertops are covered with decorative plastic, which is resistant to abrasion. In the typical version, the dimensions of the tabletop canvas are 3000x600x36 (26) mm, but today it will not be difficult to purchase a chipboard sheet sawn to the desired dimensions or negotiate in a furniture workshop to sell a suitable trim.

You will also need:

  • Connecting and end strips;
  • end edges;
  • Ties.

Even if you get a countertop of the right size, you will need to additionally process the ends - this will make the result more attractive, as well as ensure that the base is protected from moisture. For these purposes, you can use a special furniture edging based on polyvinyl chloride or glue an edge tape. The edging option is considered more practical for a dining table and suitable for home craftsmen.

For the kitchen table, you will also need appropriate supports - you can buy the legs separately or give preference to the finished base. It all depends on which option your drawings provide. The most common option is round legs D = 60 mm and 71 cm high. They can be collapsible, adjustable in height, and also differ in design - matte, painted, shiny.

In our case, these will be shiny chrome-plated legs-rods with a diameter of 60 mm, as well as a tabletop made of white chipboard 36 mm thick and a white plastic mortise T-shaped edging with girths is matched to it.

So, how to make a dining table with a chipboard top:

  1. The marking is applied to the material according to the drawing. Rounding corners must have a radius of 60 mm or more.

  1. The tabletop is shaped with a jigsaw.

A saw with reversible teeth should be used, otherwise the plastic coating may be chipped. First, the corner of the chipboard is cut with a jigsaw with a margin of 2 mm, and then it is finally rounded off with a grinder.

  1. A groove for furniture edging is milled.

  1. The edging is stuffed. Before this, the ends of the product must be covered with silicone sealant. The sealant is laid both in the edging and on the top side of the countertop. A rubber mallet is used to stuff the piping. Then the excess sealant is removed.

  1. The legs are attached. To do this, markings are made with a pencil on the back of the table top. In most cases, the legs are placed 100 mm from the edge.

To fasten the holders, self-tapping screws with a countersunk head about 20 mm long are used. After that, the legs are put on the holders and fixed with a hex key - that's it, your new table is ready.

How to correctly determine the dimensions

According to the principles described above, tables can be made larger or smaller in length and width. How to choose the best size for your family?

If we are talking about a standard kitchen with dimensions from 6 to 8 squares, then the drawings will show a typical design with a height of 750 mm and a perimeter of 800 * 500 ... 1200 * 600 mm.

A do-it-yourself dining table should be calculated for a certain number of people. Usually it corresponds to the number of residents - 3-9, but a couple of free places are still added for guests. For large companies, a good solution will be.

Calculations are carried out as follows: the number of persons is multiplied by 60 (“working” perimeter per person). As for the width of the countertop, here we follow the recommendations of experts - its optimal values are from 800 to 1100 mm. Narrow tables are difficult to serve, and wide tables are uncomfortable for those sitting.

If you decide to make the kitchen table oval (round) with your own hands, then you will have to calculate the circumference - diameter * 3.14.

Form Selection Rules

The shape of the kitchen table plays a significant role in the perception of space. Universal design - a rectangle or square with right angles. It is balanced and can be installed close to the wall or in the center of the room, saving space.

Oval models are also quite comfortable and beautiful, but they do not differ in large capacity - the most dimensional product will accommodate no more than 8 people. In addition, they require large areas - more than 8 square meters. meters, because you can’t put them against the wall.

It can also be called a universal and traditional option, suitable for both very and large kitchens. But it has less capacity than a rectangular table.

The best option is a rectangular table with rounded corners. How to make such a table from chipboard with your own hands, we have already described above.

Furniture care rules

After the dining table is made, you will need to take care of the long service life of the product.

So, furniture made of wood, polished and lacquered, needs careful care, as it can be easily scratched. In addition, traces of contact with hot are possible here. A universal polishing composition is selected as a basic wood care.

If we are talking about a countertop made of MDF or chipboard with a plastic coating, then caring for it is not difficult and consists in regular washing with detergents.

Do not forget that kitchen furniture must be moved away from heaters and from walls bordering the street. Direct sunlight will also be harmful to wooden furniture.

The table occupies the main place in the kitchen space. This important element is necessary for cooking and eating. Making a kitchen table with your own hands - simple work, but, as in all actions, in this case, certain skills and abilities, as well as appropriate materials and tools, will be required.

Today, almost any, even the most complex, woodworking equipment can be rented. Which is very beneficial and economical. In addition, the materials also have an acceptable cost.

Thus, making a dining table with your own hands allows you to get a high-quality, unique and reliable product that meets personal aesthetic preferences and the required dimensions at minimal cost.

Tools and materials you need to create a homemade kitchen table

When making a table for the kitchen with your own hands, you may need various materials. Their choice depends on the design decision, the type of construction and decoration. Mandatory are the materials for the tabletop and legs.

To create a homemade table in the kitchen, you need to purchase:

  • Furniture plate having a thickness of 40-45 mm. Its width, as a rule, can be from 600 to 800 mm. The length is usually selected according to your own preferences. In standard versions, it ranges from 1,200 to 1,400 mm;
  • Square beam for the production of table legs. The most constructive options are timber with dimensions of 60x60 or 70x70 mm. You can also purchase ready-made curly legs in a store that specializes in such products. These products can be made of both wood and metal;
  • Beam 40x40, having a length corresponding to the size of the countertop around the perimeter. This material will serve to stiffen the entire structure.

If a solid countertop is missing for some reason, then it can be replaced with a set of individual boards of a suitable size. Boards must be glued together or connected in another way.
To make a dining table with your own hands, you will need the following tools:

  • Hacksaw or electric jigsaw;
  • Plane;
  • Electric drill, with a set of drills for working with wood;
  • Sander. It can be replaced by a special nozzle for grinding;
  • Sandpaper of different grain sizes;
  • Centimeter ruler, square, construction tape measure;
  • Fasteners, bolts, screws, nuts.

Stages of making a table yourself

The main stages of creating a do-it-yourself wooden kitchen table are:

  • Design;
  • tabletop manufacturing;
  • Installation of a reinforcing bar;
  • Attachment of legs;
  • Finishing and decoration;
  • Lacquer work.

If there is no ready-made furniture board, then the simplest and best solution for creating a countertop will be a blank from glued laminated timber. To do it, you need:

  • Saw the timber into blanks of the desired size. This will require electrical equipment;
  • Carefully process and grind the mating surfaces;
  • Using special glue, glue the blanks and fix them with clamps, placing them on a flat surface. Leave until completely dry;
  • Grind the finished block;
  • Chamfer and round corners.

The tabletop is the most prominent part of the table and requires careful polishing.

The countertop decorated with tiles looks very unusual and aesthetically pleasing. To create it, it is recommended to use furniture tiles or a block of solid wood.

  • Remove part of the countertop cavity to a depth corresponding to the thickness of the tile. For this, a chisel or manual milling is suitable;
  • Leave a border 50-70 mm high along the perimeter;
  • Glue the tiles with glue to the resulting surface.

In order for the future table to be strong enough, a bar is attached around the perimeter of the table top with self-tapping screws.

Option to mount legs to the tabletop.

Before attaching the legs to them, drill holes 1 mm smaller than the thickness of the screws. Next, fittings are attached to the legs. After that, the legs are fixed to the table top with special mounting hardware.

Painting work should be carried out in several stages. The more layers applied, the more beautiful the product will look.

For protection and beauty, a homemade table should be varnished or waxed.

This is one of the simplest models of a homemade kitchen table. In the video below you can see a more complicated and interesting design.

Recommendations and features of making a kitchen table with your own hands

Before you make a kitchen table yourself, it is recommended to carefully consider all the elements and details that will be used in it, as well as technological solutions. The design stage is responsible for how beautiful and comfortable the table will be.

The most crucial moment is the manufacture of countertops. It is recommended to carefully approach the issue of creating the most visible part of the product.
