Literally, the word “bruschetta” translated from Italian means “bake over coals.” This dish, like pizza, was prepared by ordinary poor people. In essence, these are ordinary sandwiches, but with one feature - the bread for them needs to be dried in a frying pan or on the grill.

Nowadays, bruschetta is prepared from a variety of products. But the classic ingredients for preparing this snack are cheese, garlic, basil, tomatoes, and sometimes ham or bacon is added.

Bruschetta with salmon (salmon or tuna)

Required kitchen utensils: knife, frying pan, spoon and cutting board.

Ingredients

How to choose ingredients

  • The original recipe for this snack uses ciabatta. This is Italian white bread, which has a crispy crust and porous flesh. But you can use any other baked goods according to your taste. If you take unsweetened pastries with any grains or raisins, the snack will only turn out more piquant.
  • When choosing an avocado, pay attention to its color and density. The ripe fruit, which can be consumed immediately after purchase, should be dark green in color and soft to the touch. But you need to be able to distinguish a ripe fruit from an overripe one. An avocado that is too soft may be overripe and unsuitable for consumption. But the black skin of the fruit may indicate that this is one of the varieties of avocado.
  • You don't have to buy expensive extra virgin olive oil to make this appetizer.. It is produced by mechanical processing of olives and is the most useful. But when fried, all its beneficial properties are unfortunately lost.

Step by step recipe

  1. Toast 2 pieces of bread in a lightly greased pan.

  2. Remove the pit and peel 100 g of avocado. Cut it into thin slices.

  3. Take 70 g of lightly salted fish and cut it into small strips. Fold them in the shape of a rose.

  4. Place avocado around the fish.

  5. Spread 70 g of cream cheese on toasted bread.

  6. Carefully place the prepared fish and avocado on top.

  7. Then garnish with dill.

Bruschetta is a classic Italian with a special “trick”, which is cooked on coals from ciabatta and various fillings. At first glance, this dish can be called a banal sandwich or sandwich, but it has a unique taste.

The editors have prepared recipes for bruschetta adapted to Russian cuisine. Believe me, it’s easy to make a real restaurant appetizer from ordinary ingredients.

How to prepare bruschetta?

Classic Italian bruschetta is made from slices of toasted ciabatta (traditional Italian bread made from wheat flour and yeast), rubbed with garlic and drizzled with olive oil, and toppings that can have the most unexpected and affordable ingredients.

Many housewives are stopped from making bruschetta by “overseas” ingredients that cannot be found on store shelves. But this should not be an obstacle for you, since experienced chefs have long modernized bruschetta recipes for Russian housewives.

Housewife tricks:

  • Instead of Italian ciabatta, a baguette or loaf, cut into slices 1 cm thick, is perfect for making bruschetta;
  • Hot coals for Italian snacks are ideally replaced by a gas stove with a frying pan, an oven grate or a grill, on which pieces of bread are baked until crispy without adding oil;
  • The perfect Italian bruschetta can only be achieved with high-quality Extra Virgin olive oil;
  • The toasted base for bruschetta should be greased with garlic and olive oil while still hot, then the bread will be perfectly saturated with aromas and will give a unique taste to the future “sandwich”;
  • Absolutely any products and vegetables are suitable as a filling for bruschetta, which can be used alone or in an original combination.

Bruschetta Recipes

Summer is considered the best time for “proper” Italian bruschetta, which is usually filled with seasonal vegetables. These can be tomatoes, eggplants, mushrooms, sweet peppers and a variety of greens from the garden. The beauty of these quick sandwiches is that you can make them with whatever you have in the fridge.

Bruschetta with tomatoes - a classic of the genre

Compound:

  • Mini baguette – 1 pc.
  • Curd cheese – 200 g
  • Red and yellow cherry tomatoes – 3 pcs.
  • Basil, salt, pepper, oregano - to taste

Preparation: Cut the baguette in half and toast on a wire rack in the oven until golden brown. While still warm, thoroughly rub the bread with chopped garlic and drizzle with olive oil. Spread the cooled baguette with curd cheese in an even layer, and place the tomatoes cut into circles on top. Decorate the tomato bruschetta with basil and any other herbs of your choice. Before serving, you can cut the sandwiches into portions.

A secret: the recipe for bruschetta with tomatoes can be converted into a dish for dietary nutrition - replace the white baguette with slices of bran bread, and instead of curd cheese, add tofu cheese to the dish. This option is perfect for a “healthy” office snack for those who are watching their figure.

Bruschetta with Caprese cheese

Compound:

  • White homemade bread – 4 slices
  • Tomato – 1 pc.
  • Mozzarella cheese – 150 g
  • Pepper, oregano, fresh basil

Preparation: Brown the bread in a frying pan or on a wire rack in the oven, season with olive oil and garlic. Place sliced cheese and tomato on top of the hot toast. Decorate with greens.

Tip: you can make bruschetta with cheese with an original Italian “twist” using sun-dried tomatoes, which even an inexperienced housewife can prepare - the vegetables are cut into 4 parts, peeled from seeds and dried on a baking sheet in the oven for 6-8 hours, after which they are perfectly stored in refrigerator for a long time.

Bruschetta with eggplant “Vegetable delight”

  • Loaf – 1 pc.
  • Eggplant – 1 pc.
  • Capers – 50 g

Cut the eggplants into thin strips, mix with chopped garlic and fry in olive oil until tender. Place a layer of cheese, eggplant, capers on toast and garnish the sandwich with basil leaves.

Note: bruschetta with eggplants can be transformed into a “variegated” work of culinary art - add bright red tomatoes and yellow bell peppers to the eggplants and get a culinary hit of the season for any occasion.

“Rich” bruschetta with salmon and pesto sauce

  • White bread – 4 slices
  • Salmon (on the forehead) – 200 g

You're probably wondering what snacks to take with you. Do you want something appetizing, filling and unusual? Make some bruschetta!

What it is?

Bruschetta is a traditional Italian dish consisting of toasted, toasted bread, rubbed with butter and garlic, and toppings. It would seem that this is an ordinary sandwich, but bruschetta has a very spicy taste and amazing aroma. This dish is positioned as an antipasto appetizer, that is, served before the main meal.

Bruschetta first appeared supposedly in the 15th century in the villages of central Italy. Initially, it was prepared and eaten by the poor, but then the appetizer became popular, and today it is a traditional dish loved by many Italians.

Cooking features

To make bruschetta truly tasty and piquant, you need to remember a few important points:

  • Proper bread. In Italy they use traditional bread - ciabatta. But you can also use regular bread, and preferably a loaf or French baguette. There should not be any additives in it, they will interrupt the taste of the other components.
  • Proper preparation of bread. The bread is not fried in oil, as many people do, but only dried in a frying pan or grill, without oil, until a light golden brown crust appears.
  • It is rubbed with garlic and oil. It is imperative to use olive oil, and it must be of the highest quality and cold pressed. Only it has a rich and at the same time delicate taste and unique aroma that make Italian bruschetta so delicious.
  • As for the filling, it can be almost anything, it all depends on your taste preferences. And in Italy they most often use tomatoes and basil, ham,... You can also omit the filling; bread with butter and garlic is delicious on its own.
  • If you want to make the taste of bruschetta brighter, use spices. It's better to add them to the filling.
