Why do children love to go down the slides? An idle question. Well, it's cool, that's all. These smart adults and aunts have discovered that downhill skiing trains the vestibular apparatus, coordination of movements, teaches how to correctly assess the degree of risk and group in a fall. Many animals make smooth paths for themselves on wet clay slopes and slide down them.

You can make a children's slide with your own hands without much difficulty. You can find many slides for children to ride that their mothers built for them. There is always a place for a children's slide on a plot of any size, see fig. below. The cost of materials for a no-frills children's slide, as long as the ride is good, fits into the equivalent of $15-$20.

Parents who have some excess free time and money can practice craftsmanship and design using a sample slide for children to ride (see examples in the next photo), without risking spoiling something significant and prestigious: any indispensable foundations of the design of a children's playground there is no corner. But there are certain technical rules for the implementation of children's play slides in the material. They are dictated by safety requirements that take into account the characteristics of the child’s body.

To get started, watch a detailed video on how to build a children's slide like those that are still in many places in kindergartens and on:

Video: building a wooden children's slide

The author is undoubtedly a knowledgeable, skillful and conscientious person. As far as construction techniques are concerned, he must be followed. But he either simply repeated the design of known samples, or, if he was guided by some regulatory documents, then they were outdated. Currently, the construction of children's slides is regulated by GOST R 52168-2003, taking into account modern data on some features of the child's body and psyche.

What do you need to know to ride profitably?

We are more than 3/4 water - this is common knowledge. As well as the fact that the child’s skeleton has not yet completely ossified and has not gained the elasticity of an adult. Although children are generally stronger and more resilient than adults, their skeletons are slower and worse at accepting and absorbing (damping) instantaneous loads. Previously, these features were considered separately; now – in interaction. A modern slide for children takes this into account to the fullest. Namely: a slight, but sharp push in the direction from bottom to top causes a wave of compression of the internal organs in the child’s body. This is called hydrocontusion. On a hill, hydrocontusion is negligible in absolute value. Repeated repeatedly and systematically, it gradually causes harm. A bump, bruise or abrasion can cause the whole world to roar, but they pass without a trace. Regular, completely imperceptible hydrocontusion by a child can cause a number of disorders and development and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Plus possible anomalies of mental development: the child does not learn to correctly assess the degree of danger, risk and the degree of his endurance.

Scat

The main thing in a slide for skiing on the fifth point is its slope. GOST R 52168-2003 pays the most serious attention to its design. The slope of a modern children's slide should have a profile that completely eliminates hydrocontusion.

Excerpts from GOST R 52168-2003 regarding slope profiling are shown in the figure:

Its difference from the old ones is the obligatory presence of the final section C (brake pad, brake springboard). The sliding section Β (accelerating) must be interfaced with the braking smooth transition. Along the entire length of the slope there should be no joints of covering sheets, visible fastener heads, or other potentially traumatic areas. Since children really like to plop down with a soft place on the starting section before sliding down the slide, it is also highly desirable to pair it with the acceleration section smoothly. The ratios of the sizes of the sliding and braking areas are as follows:

  • B up to 1500 mm – C=300 mm for both types of slopes. Side height from 150 mm;
  • B from 1500 mm to 7500 mm – C from 500 mm for slopes of type 1 and from 0.3 B for slopes of type 2. Side from 250 mm;
  • B from 7500 mm – C from 1500 mm for slopes of type 1 and from 0.3 B for slopes of type 2. Side from 350 mm.

From slides of type 1 they slide onto a damper: into a sandbox, onto an inflatable or padded mat. In this case, section C must protrude at least 300 mm above the damper and overhang no more than 150 mm above it. Based on this, the height of the overhang of the end of the slope above the ground is calculated. From a type 2 ramp they roll down onto a lawn or soft bedding. The recommended overhang height of its end H is 50-70 mm, but not more than 120 mm. A type 1 ramp must be equipped with a side along its entire length as per the list above. For a type 2 slope, the side should extend into section C by 1/3 of its length.

Drawings of finished profiles of children's slides with extremely small and close to extremely large slopes of the sliding section are shown in Fig. (with support beams and sides); on the right, the profile line is highlighted in bold. To get a 50 degree profile from a 47 degree profile with more than enough accuracy for practice, it needs to be rotated 3 degrees clockwise.

It’s easier to slide down a steep hill, and it takes up less space, which is essential if you are designing a children’s slide for a summer cottage. For such a case, you need to make slides with an inclination of more than 40 degrees type 1, otherwise the braking section will be too long. Slides with an inclination of less than 40 degrees are made of type 2: the brake ramp, which gives the most thrill in the type 1 slides, will only spoil the fun of the type 2 slides (see also below, about the surfaces of the slides).

It is not difficult to design a slide profile of an arbitrary (within specified limits) slope specifically for your specific location. We need 3 profiles: minimum slope type 2, maximum type 1 and some middle one, with a flat section C of minimum length, so to speak, a half brake, half springboard. The profiles are drawn to scale, one above the other, so that the starting ends are spaced at equal distances from each other. Then vertical secants are constructed with the same step. The segments between the profiles are divided proportionally to the resulting angle, and the desired profile is constructed from the points, see Fig. on right. The slope angle, based on the available space, is calculated as φ=arctg(D/L), where L is the length of the downhill section minus the length of the braking section.

It remains to find somewhere a slope profile of 40 degrees with a flat section C of the shortest length. A slide for a children's playground, the drawings of which are given on the next page. Fig., has just this. The missing dimensions can be removed from the drawings; they are made according to all the rules. The entire design, which is quite complex, is not worth repeating, but the profile of the slope here is exactly what is needed.

Note: smooth connection of the beginning of the slope with the platform, if necessary. It is made using a pattern - the radius of its curvature is not critical, from 150 mm.

Platform height

According to the general safety rules, if a solid support under a person’s feet is above the base surface (floor, ground) above 1.7 m, then this is considered to be at a height. For an adult worker – work at height. For which an increase in salary is due. This is something that employees themselves often don’t even suspect, and even if employers know, they don’t raise the issue.

In relation to a children's slide, this means that the height of its platform should not be more than 1.7 m. However, for a country slide this is not significant; If the height is higher, it will spread over the entire area. And without hyperbole, it will significantly reduce its productive (or simply useful - for recreation) area. “No more” criterion is quite vague. If we also look at by-laws and industry regulations on this topic (GOST has the force of law), then two options emerge. The first one is that the site is solidly fenced and has a roof. There are only 2 openings in it: the entrance and the exit to the slope. Then its height can be maximum, 1.7 m. The staircase in this case is made in compliance with the rules for designing stairs in residential premises: passage width, slope, configuration of steps, etc. If any of these conditions are not met (say, there is also an opening to which the climbing frame fits), the platform should be made no higher than 1.3-1.4 m so that an adult can freely hold the child.

Note: It is advisable to make the flooring of the platform from tongue-and-groove boards, so that those who climb under it (what could we do without it?) do not have rubbish and sand falling on the firebrands.

Flooring and roofing

The smooth, slippery covering of the slope should lie entirely on a solid, hard and moderately elastic flooring. On the old slides without flooring, did you notice what looked like small dips under the cover? Each of them is hydrocontusion. Not the same, of course, as a parachutist who forgot to pull the ring, but quite sufficient to harm a child. Or just ruin the fun of riding.

Taking into account all modern requirements, the choice of materials for slippery coatings is small. Plywood, by the way, is not suitable: when peeling the veneer from a wooden block, the structure of the wood is seriously damaged, so plywood is not a material for external use. The best Finnish baked plywood on the slope of the hill after the first winter gives splinter after splinter. Covering options for the slope of a children's slide are as follows:

  • Wood impregnated with water-polymer emulsion (WPE), and on top - 3-4 layers of acrylic bath enamel or, better, 2-3 layers of yacht varnish or enamel. Yacht paint and varnish coatings are expensive, but are designed to withstand the abrasive effects of suspended matter in water and provide a very smooth surface, because Frictional resistance to movement is significant for small vessels. This coating will last 3-5 years until repairs are required; You won’t be able to slip on acrylic in 2-3 years, but you will get through it without difficulty, and it will need to be renewed. Wooden flooring is made from hard, fine-grained wood (oak, beech, hornbeam). Before painting/varnishing, it is thoroughly sanded and puttied.
  • Linoleum - laid on a flooring sanded to the profile (see below). If the stingray is covered with film for the winter, it will last 2-4 years, depending on the climate. Therefore, instead of overlays that hide the fasteners (also see below), it is better to install MDF skirting boards, pre-impregnated with EPE and painted or varnished.
  • Stainless steel with a thickness of 0.25 mm. Excellently slippery, does not lose anti-friction properties over time. On a solid wooden pillow it does not overheat under the sun. Buying a solid piece of stainless steel in our time is not difficult: even in small provincial towns in a tool store they will cut it from a roll for a sweet soul. In extreme cases, you will have to wait several days until metal materials are delivered from the nearest warehouse. There is only one drawback: any edges are traumatic, so they must be hidden or tucked. Advice about rolled stainless steel: find out which is more affordable in your area, and adjust the width of the slope (from 750 mm) to the width of the cut.

How to make a ramp from wood

Wood is generally an excellent material, but how can you make a profiled slope from ordinary boards or beams? It is impossible to steam the boards so as to bend them at home. Well, you can make a composite slope from scrap materials: scraps of boards and slats with a thickness of 20 mm or more.

How a children's slide is made from wood with a profiled slope from ordinary lumber is shown in the figure:

The dimensions of boards, slats and beams are conventionally increased for clarity. After assembling the flooring on the stringers, it is sanded into the profile with a powerful drill (at least 350 W) or an angle grinder with a flexible grinding wheel (Durex). You can make Durex yourself from a circle of thick rubber (from 6 mm) with a diameter of 400 mm. To work with Durex, you will have to remove the safety cover from the grinder, unless it is removable, of course.

Note: Under a covering made of linoleum with a lining (insulated), the flooring in the profile does not need to be sanded.

About purchased stingrays

The ramp, as we see, is the most labor-intensive part of the slide. Isn't it better then to buy ready-made? Propylene slope, slippery and durable outdoors, can be found on sale at a reasonable price.

How to choose the right ready-made slope for a children's slide is shown in Fig. below. It is better for older children to take stainless steel ones (item 1), and for the youngest (2-5 years old) - propylene ones (item 2), they are not so slippery. Make sure that the steel coating does not protrude anywhere (item 3), sharp edges are dangerous. Slopes with railings (pos. 4) are even more dangerous. What child doesn't flail his arms while he's rolling? What if your hand hits the railing during the crash?

Slopes with sharp breaks (pos. 5) and without a braking section - hydrocontusion after hydrocontusion. In slopes with inserts (pos. 6) and in general with joints on the coating (pos. 6), a traumatic ledge will inevitably form. Slopes with a threshold above 200 mm (item 7) are also produced by high-level manufacturers. There is no obvious deception here, there is an “allowed” commercial trick: such slopes are designed for use with inflatable mats for outdoor use. Mats are sold optionally, i.e. separately. Price? Reasonable, economically justified: a little more expensive than the entire children's play corner.

But the spiral (very cool, of course) slide at pos. 8 is a real monster. The slope of a spiral slide must certainly be grooved, once. Second, in this case, the outer side at the bend needs to be at least twice as high, otherwise even a very calm child can fly off the slope of this slide at the turn.

Design examples

Good owners never have too much space in their dacha or garden, and this is where a corner slide comes in handy. But don’t squeeze it into the corner of the fence: the distance from the slide to any obstacle must be at least 1.3 m!

Drawings of the corner children's slide and its upper platform are given on the following. rice. Of course, it is better to make the slope profiled. In the same way, as a platform, you can build a sandbox for landing; then the length of the boards for it needs to be 1800 mm. The slide platform is supported by 4 pillars 150x150 at its inner corners.

The pillars do not need to be concreted. It is enough to scald their lower ends with hot bitumen to a height of 750-800 mm, sprinkle them with sand while still hot, wrap them in roofing felt and dig them in to a depth of 60 cm or more. In the pits you need cushions made of 15 cm of sand + the same amount of crushed stone, i.e. pit depth from 900 mm.

For scalding, the ends of the beams are immersed in almost boiling bitumen. Slowly, otherwise hot splashes will fly! Then they wait until the bitumen around the tree stops hissing and bubbling. This means that air and moisture are forced out of the wood. After this, the beams are kept in bitumen for at least 10-15 minutes so that it saturates all the pores. After installing the pillars in the pits, they are covered 3/4 of the depth with crushed stone in layers, 15 cm each, with a tamper and topped up with excavated soil with a height of 15-20 cm. Wooden non-foundation buildings on such supports last for 40-70 years or more.

In Canada, whose climate is similar to Russia’s, only even wetter, top platforms for children’s slides are common, which do not require excavation for installation, see fig. below. For proper rigidity and reliability of the entire structure, it is necessary, firstly, that the upper platform itself be of a box-shaped structure. That is, there may not be a roof, but balusters (baluster) and stiffening connections from the rear (stringer) are required. Secondly, the ladder legs (ladder legs) must be attached to the strapping bars with rigid one-piece units (leg brace), consisting of persistent jibs and attached earrings on the outside.

It is better, of course, to fix the entire structure on the ground not with pegs, but with L-shaped anchors made of reinforcing bars. The anchors are driven to a depth of 60 cm. In order for the ladder support brace, exposed to both soil and atmospheric destructive factors, to last for a long time, they must be protected from rotting especially carefully. For example, the same as the heels of a fence for a front garden, which is also installed directly on the ground.

The development of the idea of a slide for children to ride, installed on the ground without excavation, are the samples shown in the following. rice. They use the rigidity of not only the triangle and the box, but also the so-called. biplane box. This gives a large supporting area, so such slides do not need to be attached to the ground at all, and the entire material is a 150x24 board. The second interesting feature is the sides of the slopes, which decrease in height along the slope. You won’t fall off the top, but you’ll roll around - wave your arms and scream from your heart. Ready-made factory products of this type are available for sale; they are brought and simply placed where the owners indicate.

What if it’s a splash instead of a smack?

Translated into adults: if there is a swimming pool at the dacha or site with a depth of 60 cm or more. The slope of the slide for sliding into the water should have a curvature profile that decreases towards the end, and the finishing section C should also have a special profile and hang over the water surface by at least 400 mm. A splash instead of a splash is a delight to the skies and higher. Therefore, we conclude the publication with drawings of a slide for sliding into the water, see fig.

Every child's favorite place is a playground where they can actively play. The most favorite is the slide, which even some adults don’t mind riding. Today, in specialized stores you can find a huge assortment of playgrounds of different configurations, made of different materials. Naturally, such a purchase will be expensive, and it cannot be said that the quality of the product will be adequate. Therefore, more and more often, parents decide to arrange the play area themselves. So, with minimal financial and time costs, you can get a full-fledged children's slide at the dacha with your own hands.

Before you start developing a layout, you should consider an important issue - security, which comes first among all requirements. Since the slide is intended for children, it is necessary to think through and calculate everything in advance in order to eliminate the slightest possibility of injury to the child. Safety is determined by many characteristics:

  • sustainability;
  • strength;
  • attractive appearance;
  • functionality;
  • ability to withstand heavy loads.

The optimal solution is to secure the structure to a concrete base or supports that are driven deep into the ground. The finishing material must be firmly fixed, and the descent from the slide must be as safe as possible. To achieve this, experts recommend:

  • pay attention to the evenness of the gutter;
  • eliminate the presence of sharp corners, burrs and bolts;
  • ensure a soft landing, for example on sand or thick grass.

An equally important issue is climbing the hill. The stairs must be equipped with handrails on both sides. Additional means of protection are also welcome: stability and reliability. So, when choosing wood as the main material, it is necessary to choose the right fasteners - nuts, washers and bolts. The trigger guides are fixed with special glue - this will ensure good glide.

Even a simple foundation will ensure the stability of the slide, and reliability depends on the choice of high-quality materials for assembling the children's slide and playground.

Choosing a place to install the structure

Before making a children's slide on a summer cottage, you need to decide not only on the design, but also on the location. So, the ideal option would be an area with a good view from all sides, this will allow parents to keep an eye on their child at all times.

In most cases, the slide is installed on the playground, but it can also be placed outside the complex. The chosen location should be both sunny and close to trees or a building. An excellent option would be a playground next to the garden; at certain times it will provide shade, which means the children will not overheat.

Despite the huge range of building materials, only wood or metal is suitable for arranging a children's slide. Despite the fact that the design will be the same type for both the first and second options, the manufacturing process will be completely different. This is explained by the fact that each material has its own characteristics, which should be taken into account before making the final choice and starting to study the construction technology of the structure.

Metal children's slide

At the very beginning, it is worth paying attention to the fact that it will be quite difficult to make a slide without a welding machine. Therefore, it is necessary to have minimal operating skills and the welding machine itself. In addition, do not forget that metal is a delicate material that, when heated (during welding), can deform and bend. Any idea without special knowledge of working with metal may not end up as originally intended.

Despite this, it must be said that a children's slide made of metal has many advantages compared to wood:

  • long service life;
  • strength;
  • reliability;
  • does not pose a danger to the life of a child if the installation technology is followed.

Wooden children's slide

The main advantage of wood is its ease of processing, which requires a standard set of power tools:

  • electric jigsaw;
  • grinder with special attachments (for polishing wood).

Even a beginner in the construction business can easily cope with the task. Unlike metal, a slide made from any lumber has virtually no flaws, and if there are any, they are insignificant and can be easily eliminated. For example, if it is necessary to protect a structure from moisture, it is enough to treat it with special protective equipment, as well as paint it with any paint and varnish material. This will create a protective layer.

It is also worth noting that when considering the option of purchasing a ready-made children's play complex or slide, you can consider another option - plastic. In most cases, manufacturers combine it with wood or metal, which makes it possible to obtain a wide variety of shapes and designs of slides.

Everyone decides for themselves what material to use to make a children's slide. But, if you are faced with a similar problem for the first time and do not have welding skills, then the choice is obvious - wood.

There is one more “but” when choosing a metal. Scrap metal collectors can take advantage of the homeowners' absence and recycle the structure.

Manufacturing principle

As already mentioned, the terrain is selected first. The best option would be elevation. After taking measurements, you can begin developing the layout. All drawings must have accurate calculations, which will allow parts of the required size and quantity to be prepared in advance. When everything is ready, you can begin the actual assembly:

  1. First you need to make a platform that will be installed at the very top. This is where the children will begin their descent. This stage is quite simple: a rectangle is assembled from timber and covered with boards on one side. It is better to give preference to a tongue-and-groove board, since there will be practically no cracks or joints in it, which means that the risk of injury to the product will be minimized.
  2. When the platform is ready, you need to attach the legs to it, resulting in a fairly high stool. That is why the fastening process is no different: 4 legs are attached in the corners. For greater stability, they are connected to each other by horizontal jumpers in several places (depending on the height of the children's slide). So, for a slide 1.5 m high, jumpers are required in the middle and at the bottom.
  3. When the “stool” is completely ready, you can begin to create a ladder along which children will climb up. There is nothing complicated about this either: 2 parallel poles are installed, which are attached to the upper edge of the structure. Horizontal crossbars are used for connection; they will also serve as steps. If you wish and have free time, you can design a standard staircase with steps and risers. Handrails will ensure lifting safety. To make them, several vertical supports are installed on which the railings are attached.
  4. The main stage is the descent. It is worth noting that for it you can use the same technology as when creating a staircase, with only one difference: a sheet of plywood is installed on parallel poles. It is also necessary to create a low restriction on the sides so that the child does not fly out of the slide when descending. To do this, thick and wide boards are screwed to the sides, the height of which should be more than 10 cm above the level of the plywood sheet.
  5. The final stage will be sanding and painting the structure. All wooden elements must be cleaned of burrs and sharp corners that could scratch the child's skin. For these purposes, you can use a grinder with a special disk attachment, which will quickly clean all the uneven areas. Both varnish and paint can be used as a protective layer. After the structure has dried, you need to install a sheet of tin on the trigger, ensuring perfect sliding.

At the final stage, you can show your imagination. So, you can use several colors of paint to give a children's slide some bright accents. On the descent, you can draw any picture using carbon paper.

When creating a children's slide with your own hands, you must remember the main rule: all stages must be performed efficiently, since the safety of your children will depend on this. In addition, you should follow several recommendations from experts:

  1. When choosing lumber, you need to check its quality. Also, all elements are screwed in, painted, and the nails are hammered in well so that the heads do not stick out.
  2. There should be a soft covering around the slide, which is chosen depending on your own preferences or situations. For this you can use: sand, thick grass (lawn) or artificial materials.
  3. The legs of the ladder, as well as the lower parts of the ladder and descent, must be sunk into the foundation. This will ensure maximum fastening and structural strength.
  4. The entire space around the slide must be cleared of unnecessary objects so that children do not trip during games. Sticks, stones and glass must be removed.

Only a high-quality children's slide will contribute to the proper development of the child, keep him fit and allow him to lead a healthy lifestyle. The playground is a kind of stimulant for the full development of the growing organism. In addition, every child will enjoy fun and active games every day.

As you can see, constructing a children's slide with your own hands is quite simple - you just need to follow the given step-by-step instructions. In addition, climbing the hill can be done not only in the form of stairs. You can use the remaining 2 sides to arrange other lifting options. They will also influence the proper development of the child’s body. If you have free time and desire, you can develop a whole play complex, which, in addition to a slide, will have a sandbox and a swing.

Video

You can learn how to make a children's slide with your own hands from the video, which shows all the processes step by step:

The fun slide captivates children from two to almost ten years of age. Of course, you want to have your own slide in a private yard or in your country house. The samples that are displayed near high-rise buildings cost a lot. For this reason, I decided to make a ramp with my own hands, and in the size and design I needed.

How to make a safe and fun slide for your child

First of all, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the structure. I will list the main requirements:

  • the slope should have three areas with different slopes: for landing, descent and stopping;
  • the height of the slide can be two meters, while high sides must be provided, and children must ride with the help of their parents;
  • the staircase must have comfortable railings, an acceptable step and width of steps;
  • the site must be equipped with 0.5-0.7 m fences, depending on the height of the slide;
  • Sharp elements and corners of the structure are not allowed;
  • It is necessary to prevent the child’s hands, feet, and head from getting between parts of the building when moving.

In practice, before starting construction, I carefully studied and measured the factory structure. Ideally, you need to have both small and large slides for children of different ages.

I chose the maximum possible sizes and was right: his two-year-old grandson is helped by his parents to enjoy the descent.

Choosing material for the slope of a children's slide on the street

You can consider three materials for making an outdoor slide: plastic, metal and wood. The easiest way is to buy a ready-made plastic slope of the required size. At the same time, it costs a lot, and its service life is limited, especially if low-quality and thin plastic works in frosty conditions.

Metal construction is naturally more reliable. At the same time, making such a children's slide with your own hands is not so easy. Most factory designs use stainless steel to cover the runway.

However, purchasing a sheet of the required size at an affordable price is not so easy. Moreover, at the dacha, “metal detectors” can steal valuable metal. It is easier to use a sheet of ordinary steel. In this case, the paint should glide well, and the slope will have to be painted often.

The easiest way to make a slide in the garden for a child at home is from wood. Its surface must be thoroughly cleaned with emery cloth to ensure the necessary glide and to avoid splinters in the soft parts of your beloved child.

The wood should be impregnated with a special compound to protect it from moisture and properly painted.

At the same time, sun, rain and frost can easily ruin your work in literally one winter, so much so that it will be difficult to restore the required quality of the surface.

Of course, you should consider the materials you have at hand. You can experiment with a piece of linoleum, which is best removed for the winter. It’s great if you find a sheet of plastic 2-4mm thick of the required size. It can be purchased at an advertising materials store.

After weighing the initial data, I came to a hybrid design on my own site:

  • the base of the slide must be strong, and a metal profile pipe should be used for this purpose;
  • the supporting part of the structure will be made of thick plywood, which will ensure smooth descent transitions;
  • A galvanized steel sheet is ideal for the sliding surface, the coating of which will not deteriorate in conditions of relatively rare use of the slide in your own yard.

Photos and design ideas for a building for a child in the garden

Decorating a children's slide is very important for both children and adults. The design should not resemble a “simulator”. For kids, you need to provide a fun fairy tale, and parents should get decoration for their own plot or dacha. Let's evaluate together interesting ideas for children's slide designs.

This design is assembled using thin tree trunks and fits perfectly with a natural stone path. The kids will definitely love the fabulous shapes of the building.

On the other side of fantasy is an almost real tractor with a slide. Its place is somewhere in the outskirts, and you can’t keep the children away... However, you will have to seriously work on such a craft.

As follows from the photo, a large tree can be turned into a slide, or vice versa, the structure can be designed in the form of tree trunks. The hint is simple: give free rein to your imagination and make the best and most beautiful slide for your children.

Here is an image of a homemade slide with a factory-made plastic descent. If you paint the house in bright colors, it will turn out very interesting.

Look at the photo and imagine an idyll: you are relaxing on a hanging swing, watching the charming mirror of the pond, the kids are frolicking on the slide under the supervision of adults. Perhaps you will like this story.

Drawings for making a slide made of metal and wood with your own hands

This material describes the design and dimensions of the slide itself, which is part of the children's complex, the construction of which is described in a separate article. You can use the provided drawings at your discretion: either repeat only the slide, or build the entire town.

I will list the main materials needed to build the slide itself. Please note that during operation, some of the material may be damaged by mistake or not cut optimally, so the actual quantity may turn out different:

  • timber 90x90x2350mm 4pcs;
  • board 45x90x3000mm 5 pcs;
  • board 30x120x3000mm 10pcs;
  • plywood 1525x1525x16 2 sheets;
  • plywood 1525x1525x4 1 sheet;
  • timber 50x50x2000mm 18pcs;
  • galvanized metal sheet 3m long;
  • pipe 25x25mm 10m;
  • bolts with a diameter of 10 mm for fastening the beams;
  • decorative and mortise nuts 1mm;
  • various screws for plywood, boards and beams;
  • impregnation for wood;
  • weatherproof paint.

In practice, it is not always possible to provide materials with exact cross-section, thickness and length. This leads to changes in drawings and dimensions. I will name the main tool needed for the job:

  • electric drill;
  • drills for wood and metal;
  • jigsaw;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • wood hacksaw;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver;
  • brush;
  • shovel.

Using the drawings provided, you can manufacture parts and carry out assembly taking into account the range of available materials. Therefore, the dimensions given should be considered as a guide.

The top view allows you to evaluate the dimensions of the building. In my case, it was convenient to place the rise and descent on one side. In this case, the ladder and the slide can be placed on different sides and the size of the upper platform can be halved.

Installation of a building for children on the site

Having decided on the size and design of the slide, you can begin its installation. You should start by choosing a location based on the following principles:

  • There should be no buildings or structures near the slide that could harm children during outdoor play, especially at the base of the slide;
  • it is highly desirable to ensure visual control by adults, that is, there is no need to build a slide in the backyard;
  • it is very correct if other objects for entertaining children are located next to the building;
  • The children's slide should fit harmoniously into the landscape of the yard.

Installation begins with the installation of support bars and racks. Each of the supports has two galvanized plates with dimensions of about 200x90x3mm. They are attached to opposite sides of the support using a bolt and self-tapping screws. The lower half of the plates is concreted.

The frame elements are fastened together using self-tapping screws and metal corners on the inside. Cuts are made on the vertical bars to securely fasten the horizontal strapping. The upper part of both ladder supports is cut at an angle for fastening to the horizontal frame.

This drawing describes the manufacture of a frame for the slide and a handrail for the slide. Welding areas should be cleaned. Metal structures must be coated with weather-resistant metal paint in two layers. I had the opportunity to use powder coating technology. The coating looks great and has no signs of corrosion after 7 years of use.

The diagram shows the “pie” of the descent. Its basis is a frame welded from a pipe with a cross-section of 25x25mm. An additional frame made of 50x50mm timber is attached to it with self-tapping screws, to which it is convenient to attach plywood. The uppermost and lowermost platforms are made of 16mm thick plywood. The edges of these elements, in contact with the main surface of the descent, are rounded.

The middle part of the descent is made of three layers of plywood 4mm thick. Thin sheets are laid sequentially with smooth bends and attached to the beam with self-tapping screws. The joints of the sheets in the layers should not coincide. It is better to paint all wooden elements before installation.

A galvanized strip is laid on top. The sheet should be 50mm larger than the base on each side. We bend the edge of the galvanized sheet 90 degrees and fasten it to the timber frame with self-tapping screws.

This is what the finished descent looks like from below. Parts made of wood and plywood are reliably protected from rain and sun.

The sketch shows the optimal cutting of one of the plywood sheets measuring 1525x1525x16 mm. Light-colored rectangular parts are designed to organize the upper and lower parts of the descent.

Three more parts are cut from the second sheet of plywood. When assembling a children's playground, the entire sheet is used.

The step-by-step photo demonstrates the assembly of the tray sides. The oblong parts are attached with self-tapping screws to the frame beam of the descent. Then round elements are attached to the sides.

Here we see the fastening of the side rails of the descent and the metal crossbar. The sides are secured to the sides of the tray using self-tapping screws. A short beam with a cross section of 50x50mm is installed between one of the side rails and the vertical post to prevent lateral movement of plywood parts. The crossbar is secured to the sidewalls with screws and special nuts that are recessed into the wood.

Parents who have small children often have to visit playgrounds so that the child can swing on a swing, play in the sandbox, or go down the slide. But adults don’t always have enough time for such events, especially if the site is far away. Having your own plot, you can make this kind of entertainment for your child at home. This will solve many problems for parents, and the child will always play under supervision. Today we will talk about how to make a children's slide with your own hands from scrap materials.

A metal slide is a common structure dating back to Soviet times. It was installed on the playground along with a sandbox. Metal is the strongest and most durable material. But under the influence of external negative factors it undergoes corrosion, so it is better to use stainless steel or galvanized metal to make the slide. When making a slide at home yourself, be sure to have a drawing on hand.

Materials and tools you will need:

  • metal pipes with a diameter of 15-25 mm, rods;
  • corners with a section of 50x50 mm, 20x20 mm;
  • galvanized sheet metal;
  • multi-colored paints, cement, crushed stone;
  • welding machine, grinder, crowbar, hammer.

Having prepared the necessary materials, at the site of future installation you begin to manufacture the structure according to the drawing:

  1. Start manufacturing with the frame. For the upper platform from the corner, weld a square measuring 1.5 x 1.5 m. Place stiffening ribs crosswise inside it. Weld a metal sheet of at least 1 mm thick of the same size on top of the square to the corners. If possible, use corrugated iron; it will provide stability and the child will not slip on the playground.
  2. Weld the finished platform to the racks. To make them, you will need a pipe with a diameter of 25 mm and a length of 3 m. Weld heels from any metal scraps to the ends of the racks, the lower part of which will be concreted.
  3. Under the welded frame, mark and dig 4 holes about 1 m deep with a drill. Compact the bottom with small stones or crushed stone. Lower the frame posts into the holes, leveling the structure plumb. Mix cement mortar with crushed stone and fill the holes. After about a week, the solution will completely harden and construction can continue.
  4. From a 20 mm pipe for stability, weld the frame frame crosswise between the posts. From the edge of the platform down to the ground at an angle of 45°, weld a descent of 2 corners with a section of 50x50 mm parallel to each other. Weld across the corners at a distance of 20 cm from each other strips for steps from corners with a section of 20x20 mm. Cover the surface of the steps with wooden boards or corrugated iron.
  5. Weld handrails from 15 mm pipe on both sides of the stepped descent. Sew up the openings between the handrails and the descent with metal mesh or thin rods.
  6. The chute is made from 2 pipes with a diameter of 20 mm. Bend the lower part of the pipes with a pipe bender or by heating it with a cutter. You should end up with a design of a steep slope that smoothly turns into a horizontal plane. Weld the upper part of the gutter to the other edge of the platform. Fix the stiffeners between the gutter pipes. Weld galvanized sheet metal on top with a thickness of at least 1 mm. If you can’t make a descent from solid galvanized steel, then weld smaller sheets overlapping along the descent.
  7. Bent the sides of the gutter guard from a 15 mm pipe. They need to be welded parallel to the bottom at a height of 30 cm, and the sides must be sewn up with galvanized sheet metal. In several places, weld supports for the gutter from any remaining pipes.
  8. The metal structure is ready. All that remains is to process it with a grinding machine to remove all sharp protrusions. The design can be decorated with multi-colored paints to make it attractive to the child. There is no need to paint the bottom of the slide, otherwise the coating will reduce slipping.

Wooden slide

It is easier to make wooden slides at home yourself; no welding work is required. Wooden structures are less durable than metal ones, but wood can be used to make a beautiful playground with a sandbox, a house, rope ladders and other equipment. For DIY construction, it is better to use coniferous wood. Materials and tools you will need:

  • 4 beams with a section of 100 x 100 mm, timber with a section of 50 x 50 mm, edged board with a section of 25 x 150 mm;
  • galvanized iron 1 mm thick or linoleum;
  • screws, nails, antiseptic, varnish or multi-colored paints;
  • cement, crushed stone;
  • electric planer, grinder, screwdriver, hammer, sandpaper.

As always, start your work by drawing up a design drawing. Decide whether there will be a slide with or without a house, and draw its diagram. This will make it possible to calculate the material consumption, and will also facilitate further construction.

Everything is ready, you can start carpentry work:

From the remaining material, make wooden benches or a sandbox near the slide. They will decorate the playground, bringing joy to children.

Plastic slides

You won’t be able to make a plastic structure yourself; you can only buy it in a store. Such slides are produced in one piece and in collapsible ones. The owner can only install the slide on the site. Collapsible models are better suited for dachas. They are convenient to disassemble for storage during the winter. This will prevent theft and vandalism while the dachas are left unattended by the owners.

Plastic models use different gutters, which children really like. They come in screw, tubular, straight and other shapes. If a child still wants an unusual slide, but the parents don’t have enough money to buy it, you can make a combined version of the slide for your dacha or home. The fact is that gutters are sold separately. They are also made to order in any shape. All you have to do is make a metal or wooden frame and attach a plastic slide to it.

A children's playground built independently for a dacha or at home will decorate the yard and provide children with entertainment in the summer.

Nothing brings more joy to a child than going down a slide. So why not put this play structure in your summer cottage so that children can climb on it whenever they want? Of course, it is easier to buy than to make. But there is no guarantee that manufacturers use high-quality materials to make slides and do not violate technology. Parents who think about the safety of their children take on the construction themselves.

Which slide to choose - metal or wooden?

The manufacture of slides mainly uses wood and metal. The selected material influences the manufacturing technology, because any construction raw material has its own characteristics.

Wooden slides in the classic version are built with an upper platform in the form of a house and comfortable steps. All parts of such slides are connected using fasteners. Every detail must be polished so that the child does not get hurt. It is important that all boards used in construction are smooth and dry.

Metal slides usually look simpler: a small platform, a ladder made of pipes and a ramp. The supports for these elements of the structure are usually poured with concrete. Metal slides are most often painted.

Only those who know how to use a welding machine can undertake the creation of a metal slide. It is impossible to fuse metal parts without welding skills - in inexperienced hands, the material heated by welding will bend and become unsuitable for construction.

A table will help you make a choice in favor of one material or another, indicating the pros and cons of using metal and wood when building a slide:

Wooden slide Metal slide
Advantages
Wood is a traditional material that is easy to process and cutThe metal slope of the slide will not deteriorate during operation
Wood products are environmentally friendlyThe structure will stand securely - no element will move away or become loose
The slope of the wooden slide is always warm, despite the cold weatherThe slide will remain in its original form, even when the child grows up
Flaws
Wood is susceptible to rotting and drying outThe metal is subject to strong heating in summer and cooling in winter.
Mold may appear on woodIt is better for school-age children to ride on an iron slide, since small children can accidentally get injured by hitting the sharp corner of the structure
The wooden slope gets wet and therefore becomes deformed.A metal slide, the design of which has limited possibilities, can quickly get boring for a child.

The listed disadvantages of wooden slides can be combated if you periodically coat the wooden parts of the slide with special protective agents and varnish.

The choice is yours. But manufacturers offer to purchase slides, some parts of which are made of metal, and others of wood. Thanks to the combination of different materials, the play structure seems more interesting.

Ideas for creating slides

Creative design of a wooden slide Wooden slide under the roof Wooden slide with metal slope Wooden slide with a large platform and stairs on both sides Metal slide under the roof Low metal slide for young children Simple metal slide This structure has a simple wooden slope Thanks to the curved bars, this slide looks unusual

Step-by-step production of a wooden slide

Any construction begins with the execution of drawings. They will tell you what materials, in what quantities, will be needed, and most importantly, they will give a clear idea of the scale of the work. These drawings should reflect the dimensions of the base, descent and stairs of the structure.

A simple wooden slide with a long slope

The height of this structure is 3 meters, the length of the slope is 6 meters. The site is located at a distance of 2 meters from the ground. The length of the handrails, which are attached to the structure on the sides of the descent, depends on these numbers.

But if a wooden slide is being built for a child under 4 years old, then you need to sketch out on paper a drawing of a small structure with a short slope and a ladder of a couple of steps.

Among the tools you will need to arm yourself with a drill, saw, screwdriver and shovel. At the very beginning of the work you will need sandpaper, and upon completion - stain and color emulsion. Instead of paint, you can use wood varnish.

Necessary materials

To build a wooden slide, you need to purchase the following materials:

  • 8 boards;
  • 4 thick beams 0.6 meters long and one 2 times thinner 0.8 m long;
  • Several sheets of plywood;
  • 2 round wooden profiles.

Instructions

  1. The process of building a slide should begin by cutting all the wooden elements, while being guided by the drawing. The beams and boards need to be sanded with sandpaper, and then the sharp corners must be rounded off;
  2. Now it’s time to make markings on the ground and drill holes in the ground to install the bases of the beams in them. The bars will not move from their place during the operation of the slide if their base is filled with concrete;
  3. Taking a saw, you need to create recesses at the top of the posts. They are needed for fixing planed boards. The supports must be attached to each other using self-tapping screws. The structure will become reliable after cross bars or, in other words, sides are attached to it, preventing the child from falling off the slide;
  4. To an almost finished structure, you can screw two bars onto self-tapping screws, to which a ladder and a ramp are attached. After this, you can lay floorboards on a small slide area and fix them with self-tapping screws. It is advisable to lay floorboards at a short distance from each other. Thanks to gaps of only a few mm, the wooden floor will dry out well if it gets wet by rain or snow;
  5. Then you can make the sides for the stairs. To do this, the edges of two boards must be cut down, positioning the saw at an angle of 45 degrees. These boards are attached to the racks, and then smaller boards - steps - are fixed to them;
  6. The gap between steps must be calculated in advance. If the distance is too large or too small, it will be difficult for children to climb up. A comfortable step for climbing stairs is 35 cm +/- 5 cm;
  7. At first, the slope is created in the same way as a staircase, but instead of boards, sheets of plywood tightly pushed together are placed on the sides. On the reverse side they are fixed with wooden slats using screws;
  8. Lastly, the structure is coated with varnish or color emulsion. Wood and plywood must be treated, otherwise they will deteriorate under the influence of moisture, thereby reducing the service life of the slide.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a children's metal slide

Preparation: drawings and tools

One of the main tasks is to make a drawing of a future structure for children's games.

This slide is designed for older children

To work with metal you will need a welding machine and a pipe bender. The parts bent by it are needed to create a railing on the top platform of the slide. Although to make a simple metal slide you can do without them.

List of materials

To make a simple metal slide you will need:

  1. Galvanized sheets or stainless steel;
  2. Metal square profile pipes;
  3. Metal round pipes;
  4. Special corners.

To make a slide, you should choose metal with a thickness of 3 mm. The suitable size of square profiles is 3x50x50 mm and 2x25x50 mm.

Stages of work

  • First, you need to place four metal profile pipes in holes dug in the ground. Then you need to weld a smaller pipe to their tops, which will serve as a support for the base of the platform. Following this, handrails and stiffening ribs must be welded to the structure;

Railings are an essential element of a metal slide that protects children from accidental falls. There should be no jumper posts on them.

  • The next step is welding guides for the future staircase and ramp to the structure. Later, metal sheets are attached to the base of the platform and the sliding surface by welding;
  • Now we need to weld short profile pipes to the ladder guides, which will become steps. The second and subsequent pipes must be welded every 17.5 cm. With such a gap, the child will be able to easily free a leg that is stuck between the steps while playing;
  • All that remains is to add handrails to the stairs, covering the distance from them to the guides with sheets of metal. All existing corners must be rounded to avoid injury to the child. The protruding edges of the pipes can be “closed” with hemispherical plugs.

Video instruction

Thus, the main advantage of a wooden slide is ease of manufacture, while metal structures are durable. To create a wooden play structure, you will need to sand, saw and screw the boards. Installation of a metal slide is based on the use of a welding machine.
