Over two years of operation, the wheel bearings almost fell apart, in addition, the tire cracked and tore and the inner tube was punctured.
Until new wheels arrived, I decided to slightly modernize and strengthen my garden cart.
I connected the handles together with an arc almost immediately after purchase, this makes it much more convenient to control the wheelbarrow, and besides, you can do it with one hand.

I have also long wanted to move the wheels closer to the middle of the body. I don’t understand at all those who designed such carts. Most likely, the design of the wheelbarrow that was used during the construction of the White Sea Canal was taken as a basis. The wheels of such wheelbarrows (one or two) are located in the front, so a significant part of the weight falls on the hands. Despite this, currently 99 percent similar products have wheels shifted forward. This applies to both garden and construction wheelbarrows, which, in my opinion, are not much different from each other.
In short, I decided to move the wheels closer to the center of gravity. At the same time, the distance between the wheels will increase slightly, but the width dimensions will remain the same. In addition, increasing the distance between the wheels will increase the overall stability of the car.

All parts were made from lying around different angles scrap metal, adjusted using a grinder and emery.

First of all, I took two steel plates of suitable sizes, 3-4 mm thick, and drilled two holes in them, each dia. 10mm and installed between the body body and the plastic lining in the rear wall of the car. The length of the plates should be such that they protrude slightly above the bottom of the trough.

I threw out the thin tin in the front part, which apparently served to increase the rigidity of the body.
In its place I installed a steel strip of suitable dimensions. For this purpose, I came across a spring, straightened by someone at some point.

I adjusted two more plates to size and welded them.

Two vertical racks- pipe sections with a diameter of about 32mm. Their length is approximately half the diameter of the wheel, and is selected experimentally.
The axle should have a diameter of 20 mm, I couldn’t find one, so I set it to 18 mm, then I’ll come up with something.

It is necessary to check that the wheels rotate freely and that the tires do not touch the body. If necessary, you can put several washers or a piece of pipe on the axle. The bottom of the body should have a slope back, then when moving the arcs will not touch the slightest obstacles or uneven ground, as was the case in the factory version.

I forgot to take a photo here, but everything is clear. In place of the former axle, I attached a piece of pipe, adjusted and welded pieces of reinforcement dia. 16 mm. Below is shown by arrows.
I did all the steps without removing the body, so it’s quite easy to do the entire harness.

Often, by spending very little time, you can avoid additional costs, which are already enough for those who spend the summer at the dacha and in country houses, caring for buildings, gardens and vegetable gardens. In this particular case, the conversation, or rather, the video series, will be about how to bring a wheel back to life in a few minutes garden cart. A garden wheelbarrow at the dacha is never idle: either to take out garbage, or to transport building materials, or to transport crops. And, of course, with such intensive use, the wheel periodically fails: the tire gets punctured, the tube bursts, etc. But, before you go to the market and buy a new wheel, see how quickly you can disassemble the wheel, patch it, or, in case of significant damage, replace the tube and tire, and return everything to its original form.

We want you to see how easy it is to replace a punctured, burst or simply worn out camera garden wheelbarrow wheels. Of course, we do this work every day and have finished several hundred thousand of these wheels before we decided to post this video. The video lasts only a couple of minutes, but by watching it and following the simple sequence of actions we perform, you will be saved from unnecessary time expenditure.

First, you need to unscrew the spool and completely bleed the air from the wheel to make it easier to remove the tire with the tube from the rim.

Then we insert the new tube into the tire, being sure to carefully straighten it around the entire circumference inside the tire.

Once, on a video about repairing a wheel on a construction wheelbarrow, we received a comment from a man in which he assured that our tube and tire were made of soft rubber, but it is made of oak and it is impossible to do what is shown in the video. So, if you carefully distribute the tube inside the tire before putting it all on the rim, any tire set, naturally if it is selected to fit the rim, will definitely fit on the rim, regardless of the softness of the rubber.

If we do not do this with due diligence, then we will not put the set on the disk. You don’t need to watch how quickly the person in the video does this work, he does it all the time, just pay attention to how carefully the tire set is prepared before putting it on the rim.

The next step is to insert the nipple into the hole on the disk and, using force in a circle, insert the pre-assembled set of tires with a camera inside.

Inflate the wheel and close the nipple with a cap. That's it!

In the video, we use a compressor to inflate a tire, but you can inflate it almost just as quickly using a regular car pump. Everything else is done exclusively by hand and does not require any improvised means.

And in conclusion, once again I would like to draw your attention to the fact that if something does not work out for you, it is not because the rubber is “oak”, but because the sequence of actions is broken.
We often have to trim wheels in winter, at minus 15. Knowing the properties of rubber, you can easily guess that at this temperature any tire will be “oaky,” but we spend exactly the same amount of time as in this video.


Repaired car
The two-wheeled garden wheelbarrow shown in this photo served at the dacha for about 5 years, until its body became unusable due to its use during the construction of a garage, as a vehicle for transporting crushed stone and sand. I must say that this is a comfortable and reliable car, at least it is much better than a one-wheeled one.

The body of the car, made of galvanized sheet metal, was torn in its front part.

At my dacha farm there was also a single-wheeled garden wheelbarrow, the chassis of which did not have any rigidity elements, and therefore its only wheel was constantly in a position of about 40 degrees to the vertical.
It was not possible to use such a car, despite its low (1650 rubles) price.
It was decided to replace the body of a two-wheeled car with the body of a one-wheeled one.
Manufacturers of garden wheelbarrows make them in such a way that individual parts and assemblies of one wheelbarrow do not fit into another, and first of all, the wheels do not fit.
To replace the body, I drilled new holes in the body in accordance with the holes for attaching the body to the chassis on a two-wheeled wheelbarrow, turning it 180 degrees in a horizontal plane.
The renovation was a success. It seems that for transporting light loads, up to 50 kilograms, a repaired two-wheeled garden wheelbarrow will last another 5 years,
To transport heavier loads (up to 120 kg) there is also a two-wheeled wheelbarrow, but its chassis is much stronger than that of the one I was repairing.

The price of such a car in Vladimir is 3300 - 3500 rubles.

Unfortunately, no matter how good they are, they can break during operation. What to do in this case? Should I take the car to a service center or try to solve the problem myself?

It turns out everything is simple. The fact is that there are not so many services for repairing this type of tool. Therefore, you will have to solve the problem of repairing the car yourself.
