Requires sealing between each other. For this purpose, various types of sealants are used. Such compositions are widely used in production and in everyday life, due to their ease of use and quick drying. One of them is the SantekhMaster gel, which is suitable for sealing metal threaded and flange connections.

Description

SantekhMaster gel belongs to the category of anaerobic sealants. The process takes place in the absence of oxygen. A chemical reaction begins when the thread is closed). At the same time, the gel does not expand or shrink. There is also no generation or absorption of heat. The polymer has good adhesion to metal. Due to this, the connection can withstand vibrations, temperature changes and pressure of 40 atmospheres. The product is non-allergenic and non-toxic. It does not have a pungent odor. Therefore, you can apply the gel in hard-to-reach places with your finger. The composition includes a solvent - the time of contact with the skin should not be long.

Gels are used at room temperature. After drying, the assembled connection can work in quite difficult climatic conditions. The temperature range in this case is from minus 60 to plus 150 degrees. The speed of sealing depends on the rate of polymerization of surfaces. Some metals are more active in this reaction than others. This affects the strength of the connection.

Application area

SantekhMaster gel is suitable for sealing metal threaded or flange connections in areas such as:

  • Water: drinking, cold and hot.
  • Gas: natural, liquefied.
  • The air is compressed.
  • Antifreeze for heating.

There is a special conclusion from sanitary services for connecting water pipes with drinking water. Flange fasteners have advantages over threaded ones. They require less time to seal and require less force to close the surfaces. In this case, there is no need to crimp the connection evenly. Thanks to this, the gel can be used even on skewed flanges. At the same time, you cannot use the product in an environment of strong oxidizing agents (pure oxygen, chlorine, etc.).

Types of gels

There are three main types of seals, which differ in sealing time, size of connected pipes, and conditions of use. The products have different colors: green, blue, red. Let's talk about each of them in more detail.

The green gel is used to connect pipes with a diameter of up to 40 mm (1.5 inches), due to its more liquid consistency. Suitable for those areas where the connection must have less force to loosen, for example, in hard-to-reach places. Hardening time is 20-30 minutes.

"SantechMaster" (blue gel) is used for pipes with threads up to 50 mm (2 inches). This is the best option and is used most often. It has average performance in terms of dismantling force and sealing speed (15-20 minutes).

In cases where it is necessary to speed up the process of starting the system as much as possible, use another product included in the line called “SantechMaster” - red gel. Its sealing time is only 5 minutes at room temperature. This composition is also suitable for working in low temperature conditions (from plus 5 degrees). In some cases it is necessary to preheat the connection. Suitable for pipes with threads up to 3 inches. The information on the packaging will help you choose the right product.

Usage

Before use, SantekhMaster gel must be mixed. To do this, just shake the tube. It is convenient to apply the product to clean threads straight from the packaging. The gel is squeezed out of it in a uniform thick layer. Don't be afraid that it will start to spread or drip. The dense consistency of the composition protects against such problems.

Next, assemble the connection, twisting slightly so that the gel lies evenly. It is not necessary to tighten with a wrench. The gel will harden even in cases where only a couple of turns are twisted. At the same time, tightening it tightly will speed up the sealing process. Partial tightening is useful in cases where the connection must be in a certain position.

Sealing is considered completed correctly if the excess gel appears evenly. If there are none or they are distributed unevenly, the connection must be unscrewed and the application of the product repeated. Excess is removed with a brush. They can be used for the next connection.

After a quarter of an hour, the sealing is checked by test pressure (within 0.5 atmospheres). If there is a leak, the pipe connection is immediately sorted out until the gel has completely hardened. If all is well, after 40 minutes they test it with a normal operating pressure of 10 atmospheres. After a day, pressure up to 40 atm is allowed.

Continuation of “a balcony not like everyone else’s.”

It came down to some furniture on the balcony; there wasn’t much room for it, so we decided to make do with a couple of cabinets. The furniture makers did their job normally, but there was a nuance that apparently was beyond their control, or there were other arguments. The hostess was satisfied with everything, except for the design of the junction of the table with the window sill. On the one hand, it seems like you can’t do it the other way, especially since the window sill turned out to be bent, on the other hand

  • Now we in the cities are doomed to count everything. The crazy “craftsmen” immediately rushed to teach everyone how to twist water ones. And then a “standard scheme” for installing a water meter was born, which included a valve that prevented manipulation of the device. Because of these valves, problems with boilers began to arise and moans and panicked screams rushed across the forums - “Ahtung! The pressure in the heating pad is increasing! What should I do?” If there weren't this valve, there wouldn't be any problems. And manufacturers and traders began to profit from the so-called “security groups”. But that's another topic...

  • Show something different from the tables on the blog, otherwise I haven’t been there for a long time.

Children's themes have recently captivated me in a way that is not childish. They asked me to make various items for the kindergarten.

The first subject is educational, necessary and useful. This is a traffic light, children will use it to learn the rules of the road, an extremely important thing.

Let me make a reservation right away: they also made a pedestrian version with people, but a simpler one made from cardboard.

In principle, they asked me to make this three eyes into a simple cardboard one, but can I really do it without any problems)) I thought about making a reliable educational object right away, and I did it. How long is enough?

The concept of the figure is that it is large enough for everyone to see, stable, durable and with a rotating mechanism, the point is that there are 4 sides, one side shows all the signals for a general understanding of the device.

The other three sides are given one signal, the teacher can turn and show any color out of 3 and ask the children about its purpose.

In general, it seemed to me that it would be right

Initial thoughts about color circles on magnets and other light bulbs had to be canceled; we need a simple, understandable solution that is difficult to break; magnetic circles can get lost, light bulbs and batteries can fail.

I don’t know whether the idea succeeded, but time will tell.

The entire base is MDF, which was glued together with PVA; for temporary tack, I also fastened it with a micropin.

Separately, I would like to note that you can use a circular saw to make circles of different diameters and, most importantly, the same size, using a simple device, first we cut square blanks, and then on the device, rotating the part, we cut off the corners to a polyhedron, and then rotating the part we finish it to a circle.

I glued the box together, the visors are halves of the eyes of the circles, I made a groove under them with a router, so such things cannot be securely glued into the end.

The whole thing rotates on a pipe from the joker system, in my opinion, for shelving, so that the stops do not fall out and fall through, which were fixed by bugs.

The base was made massive and wide from thick layers of MDF; with such a base, the traffic light is not so easy to tip over on its side.

I played the fool and drilled right through the pipe, so I had to put a plate on the return side.

I spray painted everything, then varnished it, the thing is ready.

I didn’t paint the signal circles; they were cut out of self-adhesive paper, which makes it easier to update the display item.

  • Dear gentlemen builders. I would like to know the detailed process of CORRECTLY leveling walls (reinforced concrete), with a composition such as Knauf... I’m a novice in this matter, but I want to make my daughter’s bedroom beautiful, but I don’t have a lot of money to pay professionals for the work, and there’s no guarantee that I’ll get caught good pros... So I want to know what, how, and how much is worth a pound. Thanks in advance for your advice. The walls will be leveled for further painting with Sherwin Williams paint.

  • Hello, brothers in repair! I haven’t written anything here for a long time, and in general I started to come in rarely, it’s all somehow too much time: either drinking, or partying, and now a new “attack” has attacked me. But knowing that, despite everything, you stubbornly do not forget me, I decided not to be a pig and tell you about my new hobby. I’ll start from afar: I have worked almost my entire adult life as an electronics engineer, moreover, as an engineer-developer of electronic and electrical devices of the widest class and purpose, and at the same time purely in the defense industry. It is clear that the scope of my amateur radio interests was limited only by my laziness, there were simply no restrictions on radio components for me, I had EVERYTHING! Well, following the trends of the amateur radio fashion of that time, my main focus was on radio receivers and amplifiers, of course, on transistors and microcircuits. I haven’t worked in this field for a long time, and I threw all the parts into the landfill a long time ago, but all this time I had a dream in my soul - to make a tube power amplifier, and not a simple one, but one that would make everyone gasp. But I must say that at work I spent most of my time dealing with electric vacuum devices, radio tubes, to put it simply, so this topic was very familiar to me. And then there’s this fashion for “warm tube sound”, which people are literally going crazy about. In short, a year ago I decided to make my dream come true. I immediately decided: the mainstream, ordinary tube amplifiers with an output transformer, are not interesting to me, this is not a royal matter! Shouldn't I invent a TRANSFORMER-LESS tube amplifier? Well, I well imagined the difficulties along this path, and I had some of my own thoughts on this matter, but still I decided to consult with the radio amateurs. I found a suitable group on Facebook, started publishing in it, and once asked a question

  • SantekhMaster Gel Green is thread sealant for plumbing, designed for easy dismantling of connections that are located in hard-to-reach places where it is impossible to use other sealing materials. It is designed for quick and high-quality sealing of metal flange and threaded connections.

This gel sealant is designed for pipes up to 1.5 inches in diameter. A connection assembled using SantekhMaster Gel Green can be easily dismantled without the use of heat.

This green anaerobic sealant Creates effective sealing and is one hundred percent resistant to various aggressive environments of use: water, alcohol, motor oil, natural and liquefied gas, gasoline, heating antifreeze, acetone, freon, brake and transmission fluid. SantekhMaster Gel polarizes in a matter of minutes after tightening the thread, without the need for any special conditions of ambient temperature or access to oxygen.

SantekhMaster Gel Green - the best sealant for threaded connections in plumbing, which is head and shoulders above all its main competitors in terms of the quality of adhesion to metal and resistance to various extreme factors (high pressure, high temperature changes, strong vibrations, shocks).

Anaerobic adhesives, sealants and fixatives from Santekhmaster Group are advanced sealing materials that were previously used to seal pipelines in the military and space industries of Russia. Now SantekhMaster Gel is widely available for civilian use.

    Application technology

Shake the tube. Apply to dry, clean and pre-greased threads. thread locking compound a continuous thick layer (in case of severe contamination or rusting of the thread, clean its surface with a wire brush). Assemble the connection. Transfer the excess compound squeezed out during assembly to the next thread.

To apply the composition and transfer excess, you can use a fiberglass rod, which comes complete with the gel. Pre-burn the rod at one end over an open flame and mash it on a hard surface to form bristles.

Operating temperature range from -60 to +150°C.

How and how to degrease threads

Any solvent is suitable for degreasing - alcohol, gasoline, acetone, white spirit, etc.
To degrease, simply apply a small amount of solvent to a rag or piece of cloth and wipe the surface of the thread. Let the carving dry and apply the gel.

    Permits

Certificates for the use of this plumbing sealant for threaded connections for installation of heating, drinking water pipes and gas systems are available upon request.

Today was my plumbing day. It was necessary to assemble a simple design: coupling + filter + squeegee + flow meter + squeegee + tee for the Aquaphor filter + hose to the tap. For hot water, the design is simpler; there is no tee for the filter. Let me point out right away that I am an amateur in plumbing.

I decided to try a newfangled technology instead of the FUM fluoroplastic tape I had been using for a long time: Santekhmaster gel (green). Curious to try something new.

Assembly for hot water was performed using gel, and for cold water - with FUM tape. The FUM tape used in the experiment was from Danish manufacturers. Proven option.

The advantages of plumber gel are as follows:

    • Working with the gel is not difficult: degrease the threads with alcohol, shake the tube, apply the gel to the threads and tighten almost by hand. The key only needs to be tightened a little and this is unusual. There is no feeling of resistance, as is the case with FUM tape or sanitary flax/winding, so there is a fear that it will leak.
    • After the gel “stood up” after a test run, there was no water leakage. When assembling with the FUM tape, I had to tighten both ends a little, because... The paronite gasket is not compacted enough. With the gel, the gasket immediately pressed, because... there was no resistance to the FUM tape when tightening.
    • It is hoped that the connection between the two metals will be very strong. In tests it was mentioned that a decent amount of force is required for disassembly.
    • It is not necessary to “press” some connections to the end. For example, when it is necessary for the filter to be in a convenient position for unscrewing the mesh for cleaning, or for the counter to be facing the desired direction. In the case of FUM tape, if you don’t press too hard, there is a high risk that it will leak.
    • No need to think about the thickness of the winding layer. For example, in the case of FUM tape, if you overdo it, the brass fittings may crack when tightened, and if the layer is too thin, the threaded connection will not seal and will leak. We'll have to redo it. In the case of gel, there is no such problem in principle; it is almost impossible to damage the plumbing fixtures, so this is just the thing for “dummies” in plumbing.
    • It is convenient to connect new plumbing fixtures when there is good access to the threads, clearly visible from all sides, or when you can assemble the entire structure “in weight”, in comfortable conditions, and then only connect it with the rest of the part.

    Unfortunately, there are also disadvantages:

    • The gel is effective on clean threads and only for metal connections. Those. Can only be used on clean metal sanitary fittings. If the thread is covered with paint or there are remnants of FUM tape on it, you must first remove it.
    • In general, the connection takes no less time, because you need to degrease the threads and only then apply the gel.
    • The consumption is decent. I connected about 10 threads, and it felt like 15 gr. the tube is almost empty. The manufacturer's website indicates that 15 gr. the tube should be enough for 40 half-inch threads. In my opinion it's not enough. I did not spare the gel, but I used the squeezed out gel for the next carving, while the tube was almost empty.
    • Considering the significant expense, the price/quantity ratio is not in favor of this technology. 15 gr. a tube on the manufacturer’s website costs 145 rubles, although in online stores you can find it for 125 rubles. I bought it at a plumbing store for 160 rubles, which is very expensive. You can buy a lot of FUM tapes for this money. It will definitely be enough for much more than the stated (but not proven) 40 threads.
    • The tube spout is not convenient for applying gel to threads. Perhaps it would be better if the spout was in the form of an elongated funnel, like superglues.
    • It is not visually visible how much gel is left in the tube. It would be worth making the tube transparent along the length, or in the form of a syringe.
    • Applying the gel in hard-to-reach places (under the sink, for example, when doing Kama Sutra poses) is inconvenient, because... It is not clear whether the thread on the inaccessible side is evenly coated with gel. It is easier to work with FUM tape in such places.
    • On hard-to-reach threads (on a water meter, part of the thread is blocked by the dial, so you can’t get through the tube spout) - it’s inconvenient to apply. FUM tape is more convenient here.

In general, the technology is interesting and promising, especially for beginners in plumbing. I will observe how high-quality the connection is in operation.

Upd. It's been about 2 years since I used sanitary gel. So far I haven't noticed any problems.
