  • wooden bars 4x4 cm long 1.2-1.5 m;
  • plywood;
  • a threaded rod of 0.6-0.7 m, which can be replaced by a piece of pipe;
  • 2 wheels.

We begin the work of making a two-wheeled garden cart by constructing the frame. If there is a pipe, then you can simply bend it in the shape of the letter P. Ours is made of wood, so we knock it out of bars, maintaining a length of up to 1.5 m and a width of up to 0.7 m, and then:

  1. Drill holes in the bottom of the frame. The axle will subsequently be inserted into them. Our axis is a threaded rod or pipe. The portion of the axle protruding from the frame on either side is approximately equal to twice the width of the wheel. The axle in the frame is tightly secured with self-tapping screws or screws tightened with nuts.
  2. We put the wheels on the axle and secure them with cotter pins. They can be purchased or from a bicycle, in general, whatever you can find. If you can’t find anything, we’ll make the wheel ourselves from thick plywood. To make it last longer:
  • saturate the plywood with antiseptic or drying oil;
  • we cover the wheel with a metal strip, put on a tire or wrap it in thick rubber;
  • We insert bearings into the mounting holes of the wheels;
  • Lubricates the wheels and axle with grease.

3. It’s the body’s turn. We will also make it from plywood. First, we cut out the bottom and firmly attach the part to the frame. Options are possible with the sides.   • the second, which, on the contrary, is fastened through an adapter in the form of a bar, its thickness is equal to the thickness of the side;

We saw off the ends of the bars at an angle of approximately 67 degrees. Having laid out these parts on the template, we will check how well they fit together.
  3. We mark the wheel axle and cut it out.
  4. We have to make the wheel round. To do this, we lay out the rim parts on the template. We draw a circle along their outer contour and cut out according to this marking. There will be a hexagon on the inside and a circle on the outside.
  5. We use ready-made round sticks as knitting needles. The axle, like the rim, is divided into 8 parts. We drill holes in these places.

All details are ready. We will assemble the wheel, with all connections being adhesive:

  • place the spokes at one end into the axle;
  • insert the opposite end of the spokes into the rim parts;
  • The next step is gluing the rim parts, for which we lay them out on a plane, coat the ends with glue and tie everything together with a strong rope. To prevent the product from warping, place a load on top;
  • When the glue has dried, we remove its remains and protect it with sandpaper, cover it with stain and varnish.

The assembly procedure will be very simple:

  • cut the selected barrel in half into two equal parts;
  • we make a frame, which in its shape should resemble the letter “A”;
  • now it is necessary to attach racks to the frame on the sides, which will fix half of the barrel;
  • in the place where the top of the letter will be, that is, in the bow, you need to attach a wheel;
  • We decorate the handles using cellophane and electrical tape.

We lay plywood or decking on the previously obtained base, and place a box, a seat, or whatever is needed on it, depending on the purpose.   • Bearings should be installed in the holes for landing the wheels;
  • Lubricate the wheels and axle with grease.

The last stage remains - to form the body. It is also usually created from plywood. First you need to cut out the bottom and firmly fasten the part to the frame. If we talk about the sides, then different options are possible. They are mounted motionless in relation to the bottom of the box or using hinges, after which they can be folded. Fastening should be done as follows:

  • one side should be attached directly to the bottom;
  • the second, which is located opposite, is attached through an adapter in the form of a bar, its thickness will be equal to the side thickness;
  • the end board must be fastened through a transition beam, which must have double thickness, that is, the trolley will be simply flat when folded;
  • To prevent the sides from falling when they are in the working position, hooks or latches should be installed.

We assemble a garden wheelbarrow for a summer residence from metal from the base:

  • we measure metal sheets;
  • We weld them together into a container of the required geometry;
  • We make a frame from pipes with the required axle load to suit the dimensions;
  • we connect the base to the container using fasteners or welding;
  • fasten the wheel;
  • we make parking stops;
  • We put rubber hoses on the handles for convenience.

The hand wheelbarrow is ready. You can conduct a crash test and send the product to the garden.


You can adapt any barrel to a baud container - plastic, metal, wood. With the last one, you'll have to tinker. A barrel makes two wheelbarrows or carts!

A construction or garden wheelbarrow is assembled in this order:

  • cut the barrel condemned to be thrown away in half;
  • we make a frame similar to “A”;
  • we attach the side posts to the frame, securing the half of the barrel;
  • where the top of the letter is, we attach the wheel.

Important to know: don't throw away old things, reusing them can be both fun and useful!

If there are wheels from a motorcycle, an old Cossack, or a moped lying around, and a bed with armored mesh is in the way in the attic, we can assume that there is already a two-wheeled or four-wheeled self-propelled cart for the household:

  • cut out the mesh;
  • We mount wheelsets for welding or fastening;
  • We make the bottom and side walls from a large metal sheet; wood and pipes are suitable for this;
  • We adapt the handle, U-shaped, it’s more convenient.

The cart is powerful. Depending on what kind of bottom it has - metal or another, you can transport a small cart of hay. It will be useful for transporting firewood and building materials, and will be especially relevant if construction is planned.

An old wheelbarrow or trolley that has served its purpose can become an exclusive decoration of the site.

Landscape designers often use these options to create interesting flower arrangements. Everything is useful for landscaping at home.
