Greetings to all motorists. The run of my new Duster is 4850 km and there was a reason to write an addition to the magazine.

I live in the Urals, near Yekaterinburg and in January we had frosts below 30 four times. My Duster refused to run below -30 all four times. Moreover, it was launched at -28.5, but did not want to at -32. The battery was running smoothly and regularly, gasoline 95 Bow. Even connecting the launcher did not help. When the temperature rose above -30, the engine started as nothing happened. I didn’t torture the car and decided to find out the reason.

"Smart heads" threw up the idea that the on-board computer has a cutoff of -30 and the car will not start. I read somewhere on the forum that the first oil filling at the plant was Lukoil or it was not at all clear what.

I called the dealer and asked about the oil poured into the new car and the on-board computer. The service technician swore by his mother that in all new cars ELF 5W40 was poured into the engine and in the on-board computer there were no "cutoffs" for starting at temperatures below -30. They advised to fill in 0w40 oil with Renault approval, promising that there would be no reprisals for MOT in the future.

The problem had to be solved, since I use the machine every day. I removed and checked the intake air temperature sensor (I don't know why, but I checked it) - everything is fine. I bought new candles NGK PFR6G 9 - they are recommended in the color album for Duster repair. (expensive, blah, 620 rubles apiece - premium, laser platinum). I removed my native candles, EYQUEM RFN58LZ, bought ELF 5W30 oil instead of 5W40 filled in and decided to change everything, especially 4800 km. can be considered a run-in and the oil needs to be changed anyway.

Which I did successfully yesterday. A small addition to the oil change on the new Duster 2.0 engine. There is a video on the network on changing the oil in the old 2.0 engine, but not in the new one. The new engine has practically no access to the oil filter from the bottom (the protection is removed), I could only get close to the top, unfastening the latch of the air duct pipe and moving it to the side. Guys, this is really "hemorrhoids" - there are VERY few places, all sorts of pipes and hoses and with their hands stuck in there, in part, you can't see a shit AT ALL. While I was unscrewing and then screwing on a new oil filter, I maimed all the French, from Louis to the current Alan, turned it a couple of times and went down into the inspection hole four times behind the oil filter remover cup that constantly falls to the bottom. I'm not crooked, it's just that there is very little space. And you can remove and put the oil filter there only with a special cup remover, there are no other options. If anyone could do otherwise, let him write. I repeat that I am writing about the new 143 hp F4R 2.0 engine.

Along the way, I discovered that antifreeze leaks slightly on the tee, under one of the clamps at the bottom of the radiator, but the reptile flows only in severe frosts - 0.5 liters of antifreeze leaked out.

This morning it was -31, the engine started on the first try, on the fifth "zip" of the starter. I think that I solved the problem of cold start for myself. But next time I will pour 0W40 oil, for my temperature regimes this is normal.

In the fall, I bought and pasted black plastic pads around the perimeter - I'll post the photo later. From sandblasting the very thing. So far, everything seems to be.

All successful launches in cold weather.

The French car Renault Duster 2.0 4x4 is a full-fledged crossover and is equipped with one of 2 gasoline power plants or. The most powerful, according to the performance characteristics, Renault Daster 2.0 are engines with a 2.0 engine capacity of 143 l / forces, which have a factory special short designation F4R. They are produced in warm Spain at the production facilities of the Renault company, and if you believe the numerous reviews, then they are many times superior in technical characteristics to their several predecessors.

The newest power unit, as is known from the performance characteristics of Renault Daster 2.0, is produced according to the standard scheme and belongs to the class of 16-valve gasoline 4-cylinder atmospheric engines. And it is installed on cars with four-wheel drive. Unlike other new engines, so to speak, in which the blocks of all cylinders, without exception, are made of high-quality aluminum, the Renault Duster 2.0 4x4 model has unchanged cast iron blocks. These help to increase the resource of the unit, and the cylinder blocks make them suitable for repair, in case of wear or breakdown. Unfortunately, the French manufacturer chose not to indicate the resource of the motor in the official documentation, but it is assumed that with proper operation of the car and engine, it exceeds the total mileage of 300 thousand kilometers.

Fuel supply through innovative distributed injection

The technical characteristics state that the fuel is always supplied through a specialized, in fact, the resource of which is about 120 thousand kilometers, plus or minus. Gasoline enters the combustion chamber itself under high pressure through a special nozzle for each of the existing cylinders. The fuel, so to speak, is prepared before it is fed to the main inlet valve, which is why it comes in more prepared and homogeneous and burns much better efficiently. As a result, the engine power increases, and at the same time, the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere is also reduced, making the Renault Duster 2.0 4x4 car very profitable in this regard.

The power supply system of the Renault Duster 2.0 4x4 car is controlled entirely by electronics. For each individual injector, the fuel delivery period itself is individually calculated.

Gas distribution system

The new power plant with an engine displacement of 2.0 is also equipped with a special gas distribution system, plus phase control - called Variable Valve Timing.

So, the device given on a Renault Duster 2.0 4x4 car makes it easy to adjust:

TTX Renault Duster 2.0 report that turning a special camshaft helps to regulate all phases, while shifting the closing and opening of the valves with the most optimal advance. But the phase of the so-called camshaft is now controlled by the phase rotator or fluid coupling, which is again controlled by an electronic special block. Phase adjustment for cars with an all-wheel drive system provides the best engine operating modes 2.0 device for:

Engine 2.0, the device of the system for the distribution of phases can significantly reduce fuel consumption and increase engine power. , although on the Internet you can find what people write that it is chain, although this is not correct, because the technical characteristics change.

Ignition system

TTX Renault Duster 2.0 is also an ignition, which is controlled by an ECU and, plus everything else, consists of coils and candles. And according to the technical characteristics, it does not need maintenance and adjustment, but if you believe the reviews of the owners of Renault Duster cars, which have four-wheel drive, these same ignition coils often fail.

Cylinder block

The French Renault Duster 2.0 4x4 block is made of cast high-strength and innovative cast iron alloy and includes:

The cylinder head is always made of aluminum. Among other things, according to the technical characteristics, the crankshaft, which moves the piston system, then transfers the torque itself to the automobile flywheel or the drive disk of the so-called torque converter.

Engine characteristics

Technical characteristics of Renault, which has a 2.0 engine, the device of which is improved, includes the following parameters:

The reviews from the owners of such a brand are very contradictory, but if we start comparing the engine with its predecessor, then the progress is visible to everyone. The power has increased by 8 liters / forces, the maximum speed of the car and its traction have increased, respectively, and the fuel consumption has almost not changed, but the environmental standard has grown to EURO-5.

The Renault Duster crossover is equipped with one of two petrol engines or a diesel one. The most powerful of them are 143 strong power units with a volume of 2.0 with the factory designation F4R. They are manufactured at the Renault plant in Spain and, according to reviews, significantly exceed their predecessors in terms of performance.

The new F4R is manufactured according to the classic scheme and belongs to the class of 4-cylinder sixteen-valve gasoline aspirated. Unlike many modern power units, in which aluminum cylinder blocks are installed, Renault has not changed traditions and makes cast iron blocks. This significantly increases the resource of the Renault Duster engine and makes the cylinder block repairable. The manufacturer does not indicate the resource of the unit in the documentation, but it is assumed that, with proper operation, it exceeds the mileage of 300,000 kilometers.

Fuel supply system - multipoint injection

Fuel is supplied through a gasoline filter with a resource of 120 thousand kilometers. Gasoline enters the combustion chamber under pressure through a separate nozzle for each cylinder. The combustible mixture is prepared before it is fed to the inlet valve. Therefore, the mixture comes out more homogeneous and burns more efficiently. As a result, the power of the 2.0 Renault engine is increased and the emission of toxic substances is reduced.

The Duster power system is fully electronically controlled. The fuel supply period is calculated for each injector individually.

Gas distribution system

The new Renault Duster 2.0-liter power unit is equipped with a variable valve timing system.

The VVT Renault Duster system device allows you to regulate:

  • moments of closing and opening of valves;
  • valve lift;
  • turning the camshaft.

The rotation of the camshaft adjusts the phases, shifting the opening and closing of the valves with an optimal advance. The phase of the camshaft is regulated by a hydraulic coupling (phase shifter), which is controlled by an electronic unit. Phase adjustment at Renault provides optimal operating modes of the unit for:

  • maximum speed;
  • maximum load;
  • Idling.

The device of the phase distribution system of the Duster 2.0 can significantly reduce fuel consumption and increase the power of the unit. Timing belt drive. Although they wrote a lot on the Internet that he was chain.

Ignition system

Renault ignition is controlled by an ECU and consists of spark plugs and coils. It does not require adjustment and maintenance, but, according to the owners of Duster, the ignition coils often fail.

Cylinder block

Renault Duster block is made of high strength cast iron alloy and includes:

  • cooling jacket;
  • cylinders;
  • the upper part of the crankcase;
  • crankshaft supports;
  • beds for main bearings.

The Renault cylinder head is made of aluminum.

The crankshaft, driven by the piston system, transmits torque to the drive disc of the automatic transmission torque converter or flywheel.

F4R specifications:

  • cylinder volume - 1998 cm3;
  • Bore x Stroke 82.7mm x 93mm
  • power - 143 liters. With. at 5750 rpm;
  • torque - 195 N / m at 3750 rpm;
  • compression ratio - 11.05.

Reviews of the 2.0 Duster engine are controversial, but if you compare it with its predecessor, the progress is obvious. Power increased by 8 horsepower, respectively, the traction and maximum speed of the Duster increased, while fuel consumption remained practically unchanged, and the environmental standard increased to EURO 5.

Opinions of car owners

I chose Renault Duster for a long time, trying to navigate through the reviews. While thinking, there was a new Duster after restyling. In the salon I signed up for a test drive, because I wanted with a 2.0 engine, and greed prompted me to take 1.6. Wisdom overcame greed, and I took a Renault Duster with a 2.0-liter F4R. The test drive showed that seemingly identical Dusters are completely different in terms of traction and dynamics. The fuel consumption of the more powerful Renault is not much higher than that of its younger brother. 8 liters on the highway, 12-13 in the city. I am satisfied with the purchase. Cheap and cheerful.

How many have not read reviews about Renault Duster, everywhere the same thing: good noise protection. These are all lies written by city driving enthusiasts. Why buy a 143 horsepower engine if noise cancellation disappears on the highway at speeds over 110. And I want a fast and comfortable ride. The 2.0 Renault Duster engine is excellent and allows you to accelerate to 170 km / h with a margin. In addition, it rides uphill through mud and snow like a tank. Of course, four-wheel drive helps the power unit to overcome obstacles, but, all the same, the frail engine would not go up the hill.

Yuri, driving experience 7 years

Before buying a new Duster 2.0, I drew attention to the review that the phase shifter often fails in new engines. But I bought it. There were no problems with the car until about 24,000 kilometers. But gradually a ringing sound began to be heard, like that of a diesel engine. The sound grew stronger every day. Fuel consumption has also increased. I went to the officials. They said to change the phase regulator, timing and rollers. Have changed. Got into the car, Duster, as if reborn - silence. Gasoline consumption has decreased. That's good, but why did I take off so early. At least 80,000 would pass.

Several months waiting for Renault to come out with the new F4R 2.0. I hit 40,000 kilometers. Almost everything in the engine suits, except that it eats oil. Approximately every 2000 km I add 700 grams of oil. I went to the service station, they said that this is the norm for Renault Daster. May be so. Oil consumption does not increase. The rest of the problems with the engine Renault did not notice, if you do not find fault with the little things. Maybe, except that it makes noise at high speed, but I usually do not go faster than 110 km / h.

Renault Duster 2-liter timing device worries quite a lot of potential buyers, since the further operation of the crossover depends on the design features of this engine. We will consider the technical characteristics of the Renault Duster with a 2-liter engine a little lower, but for now, about the mechanical part.

Renault's 2-liter inline 4-cylinder 16-valve engine is factory index F4R. This engine model and its modifications can be found on many other Renault models. The unit is assembled at a Renault engine plant in Spain. We must say right away that before the restyling of the Duster, this aspirated engine produced only 135 hp. On the new version of the compact crossover, they began to install a more advanced modification of the F4R with a variable valve timing system, this made it possible to keep within Euro-5 and increase power to 143 hp.

The engine device is not new, it goes back to the distant 80s. At the heart of the design is a cast-iron cylinder block, a timing belt drive, two camshafts. The engine has hydraulic lifters, so there is no need to manually adjust the valves. True, the 2-liter Duster engine has one problem, when the belt breaks, the valve bends. If you follow this and carry out qualified maintenance in time, then the motor resource of the motor can easily exceed 400,000 kilometers.

Typical for motors with DOHC. A feature of replacing the timing belt can be considered the absence of alignment marks. Before removing the belt, it is necessary to firmly fix the camshafts and the crankshaft relative to each other. To block the crankshaft, there is a special technological hole in the cylinder block where the locking bolt is screwed in. To block the camshafts on the opposite side of the valve cover, under the two technological plugs you will see the ends of the camshafts with special slots, into which you need to insert a common plate, which will prevent the camshafts from turning. To loosen and tension the timing belt, you will need an edge, which will need to be used when tensioning the roller. Next is a schematic photo of the timing scheme Duster 2.0

  • 1 Toothed crankshaft pulley
  • 2 Timing Belt
  • 3 Timing pulley
  • 4 Tension roller
  • 5 Exhaust camshaft pulley
  • 6 The mechanism of execution of the variable valve timing system
  • 7 Coolant pump pulley

Renault Official Video on the Importance of Periodic Timing Belt Replacement... For Duster 2.0, this period is 60 thousand kilometers.

Technical characteristics of the updated Duster 2.0 engine (143 hp)

  • Working volume - 1998 cm3
  • Number of cylinders / valves - 4/16
  • Cylinder diameter - 82.7 mm
  • Piston stroke - 93 mm
  • Power h.p. - 143 at 5750 rpm
  • Power kW - 105 at 5750 rpm
  • Torque - 195 Nm at 4000 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 11.1
  • Timing Drive - Belt
  • Maximum speed of 6MKPP - 180 km / h
  • Acceleration to the first hundred 6MKPP - 10.3 seconds
  • Fuel consumption in the city 6MKPP - 10.1 liters
  • Fuel consumption in the combined cycle 6MKPP - 7.8 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway 6MKPP - 6.5 liters

It is worth noting that the pre-styling Duster 2.0 had a modification with front-wheel drive and an automatic transmission, however, after the update, the crossover with a 2-liter engine is sold only with all-wheel drive and the same mechanical and automatic transmissions.

After reading the laudatory reviews about what a wonderful Renault Duster car, and that the only drawbacks are smelly plastic and not wide enough mud flaps, I bought this miracle car. Bought and fucked up what shit I got myself into.

Before that, I had a VAZ-21099. She sometimes broke, I naturally did not like it. But any problem was solved 1000 rubles and a couple of hours of time. With a run of 100 thousand, I spent about 10 thousand rubles on its repair, planned and unforeseen. This is a lyrical digression.

Now about Duster. Even if nothing in it breaks down in 3-4 years, then the timing belt, pump, etc. will have to be replaced. Prices - pump 2.5 thousand rubles, timing belt + 6 thousand, it is very difficult to do it yourself, you will have to pay for the work thousand 3-4. This is how the duster for 60 thousand km surpassed 21099 for 100 thousand km, and this is provided that nothing unexpectedly breaks down.

Further, after 70 thousand, most of the struts leak, stabilizer bushings fail. And this is a vaunted indestructible suspension? I drove 99 100 thousand km without a hint of a rack, and many of my friends have VAZs driving up to 200 thousand without repairing the suspension. Many Dusters have crankshaft oil seal leaks. This can be forgiven for the Deshman VAZ (although, oddly enough, it does not leak from him), but not in any way for a car worth 800 thousand. Getting to the candles is a problem. Up to the oil filter too. Very disgusting and inconvenient for service, everything was done, as if out of spite.

Further, the clutch drive. It is hydraulic. I had a VAZ-2103 with such a drive. He was constantly leaking, then seizing air, then jamming, in general, I grabbed grief with him, and this was with cheap and affordable spare parts. Then a cable drive was made on the 99-ke. I wrote with joy with boiling water that there would be no more such crap. And now on Duster again hydraulics.

Now about the engine. The VAZ-21099 has a capacity of 87 liters. With. with a mass of 1000 kg, Renault Duster has 143 liters. With. and 1400 kg. It can be seen that Duster has a better horse per kilogram ratio, which means that the dynamics should be better. But no. 99 against the duster is an airplane against a bus.

Now about the expense. A carburetor VAZ with a volume of 1.6 liters consumed 8.3 liters per 100 km, a 2-liter one by 25% more volume, it is logical that it should consume 8.3x1.25 = 10.4 liters. In fucking VAZs, the difference in consumption between the injection and carburetor engines is a liter and a half, which means that the injection 2-liter engine should consume 9 liters. But in addition to the injector, Duster also has a phase regulator. And with all these tricks, it still consumes 10.5 liters per hundred!

Next is the phase regulator. Fuck you need it incomprehensibly. The benefits of it are dubious, but there are a lot of problems. After 60 thousand it breaks down, it costs 8-10 thousand rubles and the replacement is hemorrhagic, it is unlikely that it will work out, you will have to pay for the replacement. Once in the winter I warmed up the car, the windshield was warmed up, but the rear one is not yet. I turned on the front wiper, then turned in reverse and began to drive out. At the same time, the frozen rear wiper was automatically turned on. The slots were cut off on it. That's how I got money again. Why do Renault engineers think that the driver is full down and is not able to turn on the rear wiper when he needs it ?!

The fuel level sensor is shamelessly lying and is regularly buggy. It is impossible to determine the fuel level, except perhaps roughly - more than half / less than half. Also the on-board computer is lying about consumption. Shows 8.3 liters, but actually 10. Next - read the prices for various kinds of sensors, of which there are many.

That's what it was worth writing about, not smelly plastic. If at one time someone had painted everything about him like that, he would never have taken it G ..!.

Advantages of the car

General impression

Don't take this shit
