Catching crayfish is an exciting and interesting activity. Every self-respecting fisherman at least once tried to hunt crayfish. For a successful hunt, in a couple of hours you can drag a bucket of crayfish.

Hunting for crayfish is always successful, interesting and reckless. Moreover, you do not need to purchase expensive equipment.

Crayfish are found only in unpolluted water. They are an indicator of an environmentally friendly reservoir and they do not survive in polluted water.

There are several types of crabs:

  • hands;
  • fishing rod;
  • Rakolovka;
  • plastic bottle;
  • Ostrogoy;
  • stick.

It will not be difficult to make a rachev, for this you need to have improvised materials. The most primitive model consists of steel hoops, iron or nylon fine mesh, thin copper wire, and plastic clamps.

In addition to metal hoops, wooden circles are also used, willow or bird cherry is suitable. Wooden circles do not withstand prolonged contact with water.

Therefore, they must be painted, preferably in a dark color. The rings are located at the same distance, but their sizes are different.

This is done to ensure that the caught cancer could not crawl back. This is the point of the design.

Step-by-step production of the “cone” crab:

  1. In the same way as the base, we make the neck. Only the diameter of the neck is smaller, 250-300 mm.
  2. We connect the ends and try to wrap them tightly with copper wire. Notches and folds hold the splicing ends under the copper wrap.
  3. We bend a steel ring with a diameter of 400-500 mm. This will be the base of the crawfish. At the ends of the wire we make bends, and at a distance of 15-20 mm we apply notches.
  4. The length of the spacers should be 180-200 mm when assembled, their number is at least three. With pliers at one end of the spacer we make an eyelet and connect it to a large ring, which serves as the base of the crayfish.
  5. So accurately connect the other end of the neck.
  6. We place the base in the center of the grid, sew it to each other with copper wire or clamps. We carry out this work around the entire circumference. We also sew the mesh to the neck, after stretching it. Trim the rest of the mesh.
  7. We tie a small load to the bottom so as not to be blown away by the current. Do not forget to put the bait at the bottom of the crayfish.
  8. We tie a strong rope of suitable length to the neck, for which we will draw a generous catch. The rope should correspond to the depth of the lake or pond.

Beginners will cope with such work in 1.5 hours, and for professionals it will take no more than 40 minutes. It is worth noting that do-it-yourself crabs are more convenient and stronger than store-bought ones. The rakolovka is installed in the reservoir for the night.

The most delicious crayfish is 10-12 cm long. But in order to reach such sizes, he must live 3-4 years. Therefore, let loose small crayfish with caviar.

The shells are divided into two types:

  1. open,
  2. Closed.

The simplest and most primitive open-type rachsheny. In the common people, it is called a plate or grip. A wire or wooden circle 50-70 cm in diameter is covered with a delju so that it sags in the middle.

Open view of the rachev

To fish with such a rake at a depth, it is necessary to tie 3 ropes to it and connect them with a knot. Tie a long rope to the knot to raise and lower the tackle with a float at the end.

To catch crayfish in the coastal zone, you should use a different type of grip.

In this case, the pole replaces the float. The pole is driven into the ground, and the bait is tied to the pole or deli, in several places.

A rakolovka has a similar design, which consists of a steel circle and a business bag in the form of a cone.

A load is attached to its end, it rises with a rope tied to an iron circle.

Such racheshnya is baited with earthworms. They are first strung on a fishing line and screwed tightly to the circle.

Rakolovka must be raised quickly and sharply. It is convenient to do this from a boat. If you lift it slowly and inaccurately, the crayfish will have time to scatter. This is especially true for grip. You need to check the projectile every 15-20 minutes.

Closed view of the rachev

This species is called a night lamp or a crustacean house. Their design is more complex and folding, but the catch is richer. When catching crayfish with such a projectile, there is no need to check it often, 2-3 checks per night are enough.

The closed shell consists of a metal frame, the bottom circle should be larger than the top one. I pull the del onto the frame so that a small hole remains.

They make them high, with a neck at the entrance, fastened with braces to the lower circle. There may be several necks, in which case they are attached obliquely. All these tricks will help increase the catchability of a closed rake.

Cracker from a plastic bottle

Manufacturing:

  1. For the manufacture, 4-10 rectangular plastic bottles with a volume of 5 liters are needed.
  2. We cut off the lid so that a large cancer and neck crawl through. We try to carefully cut before narrowing.
  3. We turn the part that was cut off and insert it into the bottle so that the neck is at the bottom
  4. Whatever falls out, we fix it along the contour with a wire.
  5. We do the same with all the bottles.
  6. When everything is ready, connect everything with wire.
  7. Make a lot of holes in the bottles for easy and quick immersion.
  8. Tie a rope to the first bottle, and attach a load to the last one.
  9. A huge plastic shell is ready.

round shell

It consists of two identical rings, with a diameter of 40 to 50 cm. The distance between the rings is 17 cm.

A rope is attached to the upper ring on both sides to lift it from the bottom of the crayfish, and a load is tied to the lower ring.

If you install several traps at a certain place along the perimeter, the catch of crayfish will increase significantly. This is an open model.

Closed round shells are made with several entrances. The mesh is pulled over the body, which is springy. Their length reaches a meter, and the number of entrances can be from 3 to 6.

They are made in the form of an umbrella, arc, spring. A load is attached to the bottom of the crayfish along the entire length, so that it would not be blown away by the current. It is intended for catching crayfish from a boat and from the shore.

New items in crayfish

Specialty stores now have a large selection of new products for crayfish hunting. This is a spider shell, a stocking, an inkwell. One of the novelties, a 3-meter-long barn with 12 entrances.

It is made of thin nylon, which allows the crayfish to freely move towards the bait, without clinging anywhere with claws.

It is attached to the bottom of the soil with pegs, looks like a caterpillar, at each end there are 6 entries for crayfish. Well stretched, checked once a day.

Before you go hunting for crayfish, it is worth asking if catching crayfish is not prohibited in a nearby reservoir. Many water authorities prohibit fishing at certain times of the year. Ignoring the ban is fraught with a large fine.

Crayfish baits

The key to a good catch of crayfish is bait. Without it, there will be no generous and successful hunting. There is an opinion that cancer loves only rotten meat. But it's not.

Cancer is almost omnivorous and loves different bait:

  • The bait can be meat or fish not of the first freshness, a slice of rye bread with grated garlic, corn, canned peas, cake.
  • But most of all, cancer loves fresh fish. He will especially like roach, silver bream, bream. In second place are pike and perch.
  • The fish should have a strong smell and be elastic. To enhance the smell, the fish is cleaned of scales, cut along the back and turn the meat out.
  • Experienced anglers use store-bought capelin, saury, Baltic herring as bait.
  • Local mollusks, mussels, shells will be to the taste of crayfish. They make up half of the entire diet.
  • Bread wrapped in gauze or kapron will not go sour so quickly, it will not be carried away by the current, it will not be dragged away by crayfish.

Important! The widespread opinion that crayfish are well caught on frogs has no basis. Such an exotic bait is not practiced by crayfish.

How to put a crab on the water:

  1. It is most convenient to set traps from a boat, due to the overgrowth of the coast with reeds.
  2. Tie the upper part of the cord to the signaling float.

From the shore:

  1. Find a long stick, preferably with a horn at one end.
  2. We hold in one hand the cord from the crayfish, in the other we find the stick.
  3. We hook the cord with a slingshot, raise the crayfish.
  4. We slowly lower the rakolovka to the bottom, gradually bleed the cord, if it is very deep.
  5. We tie the cord to a stick, which must be stuck into the ground or shore.
  6. We remove the shell in reverse order.

Important! From May to October, crayfish hatch eggs, so it is undesirable to catch it during this period.

Boiled crayfish are a delicacy dish for many residents of megacities. Despite the fact that in many reservoirs the population of these representatives of arthropods is large, it is far from always possible to catch a worthy trophy. To ensure a good catch, do-it-yourself crabs are made. With its help, it will be convenient and easy to catch the required number of crayfish.

Many from childhood remember a simple way to get crayfish. Adults and children in the summer went into the water and tried to grab a dangerous object by the torso with their hands. Sometimes fingers fell into powerful claws, which made the impression of an exciting lesson somewhat clouded. But in cold weather, there are few people who want this way. A trap for crayfish will come in handy at any time and weather.

You can use the crayfish both from the boat and from the shore. It is enough to fix the bait on the net and lower the trap to the bottom of the reservoir. On the river, it is necessary to fix the device so that it is not carried away by the current.

The waiting time, which is 2-3 hours, can be devoted to fishing, relaxing by the fire, outdoor games, etc.

You can not buy ready-made traps in all regions of the country, so it makes sense to master the independent production of the simplest crayfish.

Types of crayfish

The imagination of anglers has no limits. As modern materials become available, new types of traps are emerging. On sale there are three types of crayfish.

  1. A trap based on a metal hoop and a cellular mesh with a perforation of 2x2 cm is one of the simplest devices. Making a homemade crayfish of this type is not difficult. The bait is tied in the central part of the mesh circle, after which the trap is lowered to the bottom on a rope.
  2. A more complex device is a crayfish, which consists of 2 metal rings. One of the hoops has a diameter of 50 cm, for the other ring this figure is 80 cm. After pulling the mesh, a cone is formed with a cut end. The height of the trap is 20 cm. The trap is lowered so that a large hoop is at the bottom of the reservoir.
  3. The trapezoid trap is effective and easy to use. It is a cage made of metal mesh. The frame is made of steel wire.

Materials for manufacturing

Traditionally, the following materials were used for the manufacture of crayfish.

  • Nylon mesh is an affordable and fairly waterproof material that allows you to build a trap in haste. It is enough to make a frame of a suitable shape and stretch the net, and you can hope to catch an arthropod trophy. Kapron is good because it is easy to cut and tie. Over time, the claws of cancer make the trap unusable.
  • Steel mesh today has many modifications, so you can choose the most suitable material for your product. The famous chain-link mesh can be used when you want to stretch the canvas on the frame. And the welded version with rectangular cells keeps its shape well without an additional frame.
  • Craftsmen extract metal hoops from old wooden barrels, rusted tanks, aluminum cans, etc.
  • Steel reinforcement, thick wire, thin-walled tubes can also be used as a frame.
  • Rakolovki from plastic bottles turn out to be low-cost. It can be drinking containers with a volume of 5-6 liters.

Of the materials at hand, the most commonly used:

  • metal wire;
  • kapron rope;
  • fishing line.

Of the tools, you should stock up on a tape measure, metal scissors, round-nose pliers, an awl and a knife.

Examples of homemade crayfish

Before you make a do-it-yourself crayfish, you should familiarize yourself with several samples. They are made from different materials, so everyone can choose a model to their liking.

PET bottle trap

The lightest and least expensive trap can be made from two five-liter bottles.

  • In each bottle, the neck and bottom are removed with a knife to make plastic cylinders.
  • After that, one of the cylinders is inserted inside the other to a depth of 1-2 cm. Using an awl, 6-8 holes are made around the circumference at the junction. Soft wire or fishing line is pulled through the holes to secure the connection.
  • In the cut off necks, the handles are removed, after which they are inserted with a narrow part inside the cylinder. These connections are installed in the same way.
  • The entire cylindrical surface must be perforated. Holes can be cut with a knife or drilled with a drill.
  • It remains to tie a nylon rope, place the bait inside and lower the crayfish into the water.

Model made of nylon mesh

Rakolovka, made of kapron mesh, are called "inkwells". A trap is made according to the following technology.

  1. Two hoops are made from a wire 4-5 mm thick. One of them should have a diameter of 40-60 cm, the other - 15-20 cm.
  2. The large ring is covered with mesh and fixed with nylon thread or fishing line.
  3. Then the small ring is attached in the same way.
  4. So that after lowering into the water the structure does not develop, it is necessary to install 3 spacers 15-20 cm long from the same wire between the rings.
  5. It remains to attach the handle, tie the rope, lower the bait inside and throw the trap into the water.

Rolled steel mesh product

If the question arose of how to make a do-it-yourself crayfish trap for many years, then the steel mesh option would be the most optimal.

  1. At the first stage, you need to arm yourself with a tape measure to measure a piece of workpiece 1 m long and 0.8 m wide. It is easiest to cut a piece of mesh with metal scissors.
  2. Now it is necessary to make a cylinder with a diameter of about 25 cm from a rectangular blank. The joint is fixed with pieces of soft copper wire. The protruding ends of the wire in the mesh are bent inward.
  3. To make walls with holes, it is necessary to cut a semicircle with a radius of 25 cm. At the central point of the radius, a semicircle is drawn with a radius of 5 cm. The future hole is carefully cut with scissors.
  4. Then it is necessary to bend the workpiece in such a way that a cone with a cut top is obtained. In a cone-shaped position, it is necessary to secure the connection line with wire.
  5. The side wall is inserted with the sharp part of the cone inside the mesh cylinder. The edges of the cone and cylinder are fastened with wire. The second wall of the trap is made in the same way.
  6. To make it easier to place the bait and extract the crayfish, a 15x20 cm rectangle is marked in the center of the cylinder. An incision is made on three sides, so a kind of door is obtained. A piece of wire will help prevent spontaneous opening.
  7. Nylon rope is best attached to the edges of the shell. It remains to place the bait and test the catchability of the structure.

Any of the do-it-yourself crayfish made can be modernized and adjusted to the conditions of fishing. The main thing is that crayfish are found in the reservoir, then you definitely won’t have to return home without a catch.

This kind of trap is quite simple to manufacture. Before starting work, prepare:

  • plastic bottle with a volume of 5 l;
  • fishing line;
  • scissors;
  • wire;
  • rope.

Walkthrough

  1. The first step is to get rid of excess plastic material. To do this, cut out the neck in the area of the narrowing of the container, capturing a small rim.
  2. We equip the base of the bottle with holes of small diameter, allowing air masses to find a way out and increase the rate of sinking of the crust to the surface of the bottom of the reservoir.
  3. The neck should be inserted with the opposite side into the container and fix with an ordinary fishing line.
  4. We equip the bottom of the bottle with holes of small diameter through which a wire should be passed, which will act as a bait retainer.
  5. Having built another hole in the bottle, we pass a rope through it to ensure convenient lifting of the device from the reservoir.

Rakolovka from a kapron grid

Rachevnya, made on the basis of a kapron mesh, received the second name “inkwell” among the people. To make such a trap, you should stock up:

  • fine nylon mesh;
  • wire cutters;
  • thick wire - 5 mm;
  • strong nylon thread.

The detailed step-by-step guide below will allow you to make a rachev without unnecessary difficulties:

We use a metal mesh

Traps made on the basis of a metal mesh are easy to manufacture. This design is within the power of even a beginner. The metal rachevna will be quite durable and will be able to serve for a fairly long period of time.

To build a trap you can not do without:

  • strong wire;
  • kapron thread;
  • scissors for metal;
  • metal mesh with a width of 1 m;
  • protective gloves.

Following the step-by-step guide will allow you to build a fishing fixture quickly:

Baits for crayfish

Experienced anglers believe that the most effective complementary foods for crayfish are:

How to catch

Despite the fact that even a beginner can master such a coveted prey, there are a number of recommendations that will increase the degree of efficiency and productivity of fishing:

When going to a reservoir to cast a homemade device, it is worth choosing a place with a suitable depth

Catching crayfish is not a complicated process and quite interesting. For these purposes, you will need such tackle as a crab, you can do it yourself without any problems. In the simplest version, a ring made of steel wire is used, on which the mesh is stretched. On average, the diameter of the ring is about 50 cm. But the disadvantage of such a cage is that it needs to be checked very often, since the crayfish, having had enough of the bait, simply leave it. The author proposed a variant of a simple rachev, which can be left overnight. Since cancer, which has fallen into such a trap, simply cannot get out of it. This will only be possible if the trap overflows with crayfish.

Materials and tools:
- a grid with a small cell;
- plastic clamps;
- wire (4-6 mm in diameter);
- kapron thread;
- scissors;
- pliers and other tools.

Manufacturing process

Step one. Creating a trap base
Steel wire will be used to create the "skeleton" or base of the trap. It is necessary to make two rings, the lower one should be about 40-50 cm in diameter, and the upper one about 15-20 cm. To connect the rings, hooks can be formed at their end and then crimped with pliers, thus forming locks.

Step two. Mesh attachment
Now you need to attach a grid to the largest lower ring, thus creating the bottom of the crayfish. For fastening, you can use either plastic clamps or nylon thread. It is better to take the mesh with a margin, since the remaining part should still be enough to make the walls of the trap. The height of the trap will be about 12-18 cm.

Step three. Installation of spacers
For the manufacture of spacers, electrodes with a diameter of 3 mm are excellent, it can also be a wire. All spacers must be the same length. At the same time, their size must be calculated so that the upper ring is centered above the lower one at a height of about 12-18 cm.

For ease of transportation, the trap can be made collapsible. For these purposes, one spacer is made removable, and the other two are fixed by the method of forming rings.

After the base is fully assembled, you can begin to create the walls of the trap. To do this, the remnants of the mesh are stretched and fastened with clamps or nylon thread to the upper ring. You need to grab the net in increments of 1-1.5 cm. Now all that remains is to cut off the excess material and you can start fishing.

The principle of such a shell is very simple. Bait is placed in it, it is best to use fresh fish. Experienced fishermen have noticed that crayfish prefer fresh fish rather than rotten. A piece of cake, rye bread, as well as dill is also excellent as a bait; it should be tied in a bag.

Cancer smells and begins to climb on the crabs. But to get to the bait, he needs to go through the top hole. When he falls into the shell, he cannot get out of it by any means. Thus, such tackle can be left overnight, and then only harvested in the morning.

The indisputable advantage of such a cradle is its simplicity, a minimum of materials for assembly, as well as ease of use and efficiency.

To the fisherman:

Fans of drinking beer with delicious boiled crayfish are unlikely to refuse to learn how to make crayfish with their own hands at home.

Moreover, the cost of this classic beer snack has never been small.

In addition, among experienced fishermen, the use of a crayfish is considered the most effective fishing option, since otherwise, in order to pull a biting arthropod out of a hole, you will have to catch it by diving deep into the water.

Usually crayfish hunting takes place from June to November, and if you follow the tips below on how to make a crayfish with your own hands, then this season you will have time to enjoy your favorite dish.

Below in the article will be considered various types of crayfish.

Cracker from plastic bottles

The scheme by which a plastic bottle is made can be used both at home and in an emergency.

Just imagine yourself on vacation near a river in which crayfish are found. People catch full buckets, but you don’t have a crayfish and you have nothing to catch.

This is where the knowledge of how to make a crayfish from improvised means comes in handy.

For work you will need:

  • Plastic bottles (2 pcs of 5 l; 1 pc of 1.0 l).
  • Fishing line 3 mm and awl;
  • Stationery knife.

We make blanks for crayfish from plastic bottles:

  • We make a cylinder from a 1.0 liter bottle, for this we cut off its neck and bottom. Plastic will be easier to cut if you heat the blade of the knife over the fire;
  • Next, we work with 5 liter containers. At the first, we cut off the bottom and the neck according to the same principle; at the second - we cut off the neck, but do not touch the bottom. In this case, the neck of the first bottle must be cut in such a way that the diameter obtained at the outlet corresponds to the diameter of the cylinder made from a liter bottle. In order not to make a mistake with the dimensions, before cutting on the neck of a 5-liter container, you can make marks using a ready-made cylinder.

Gathering pieces together:

  • With the help of an awl from above around the circumference, we make holes in the liter cylinder with an interval of 1.5 cm. In the process of work, you can put a wooden rail under the plastic;
  • Carry out the same actions with other cut edges of the containers;
  • Using a piece of fishing line, we alternately thread it through the holes between the liter and 5 liter bottles. As a result, you should get that the place of the neck of a 5-liter container was taken by a firmly sewn cylinder;
  • To the resulting design, to the cut edges of a large bottle, we sew a second five-liter bottle with a fishing line;
  • We tousle the edges of the liter cylinder and bend them inward, as a result of which the arthropod can fall into the trap, and the fluffy strips of plastic will not release it back;
  • Further, throughout the structure, with the help of a knife, we make holes 1x1 cm, due to which the crayfish will collect water and sink more easily;
  • We pass a long rope through the holes, so that it enters from one side of the structure, but not through a liter cylinder, and exits from the other side. Tie the short end of the rope to the long end.

Everything, the shell is ready.

As you know, crayfish feed on carrion, so just before catching them, bait is placed inside the crayfish in the form of a piece of rotten meat.

Rakolovka from nylon mesh - inkwell

You can make the following type of shell yourself using:

  • kapron fine mesh;
  • kapron thread;
  • wire cutters;
  • wire, with a thickness of 5 mm.

This design for the crayfish is made in several stages, after which you can safely go to catch crayfish.

By the way, the bait is prepared for them in advance, but more on that later.

Step-by-step instructions for making a crawfish:

  • Make two rings of wire. The first, main, should have a diameter of 35-60 cm; the second - for the upper part of the construction of the shell, with a diameter of 15-20 cm;
  • Wrap the main ring with a fine mesh nylon mesh by winding it to the metal rim with a nylon thread. In this case, the thread must pass through the ring with an interval of at least 2 cm;
  • In the next step, prepare three pieces of wire that will be used as spacers. They will serve as a support for the main and small rings and at the same time maintain the shape of the structure. Without spacers, after lowering into the water, the shell you made will simply fold.
    The wire should have a length of 15-20 cm. With one end, it is alternately fixed with wire cutters to the main ring, and the second - to the small, upper one;
  • Cover the resulting structure, including the upper rim, with the edges of the mesh, walk around the rim and holes in the mesh with a nylon thread. Attach a handle to the finished rachevna.

As a result, you will get an open top shell. It is lowered to the bottom with a long rope.

Rakolovka from a rolled metal mesh

This type of shell can be done by hand using a metal mesh. Such a product is much more durable and every professional angler has it.

To work, you will need the following types of materials and tools:

  • metal mesh, roll 1 m wide;
  • wire for fastening;
  • metal scissors;
  • kapron threads, ruler;
  • protective gloves.

We create a cage based on a metal mesh:

  • We take a piece of mesh 80 cm long. As a result, the material with which we will have to work will receive parameters of 80x100 cm;
  • We fold the grid into a cylinder shape so that most of it becomes a height. Between themselves, the edges of the grid are fixed with wire;
  • Determine the size of the cylinder. Its diameter, as a rule, should correspond to 25 cm;
  • Now from the same material we cut out a semicircle (radius 25 cm). We set aside with a ruler, from a point of radius a segment of 5 cm, form a circle with a radius of 5 cm, cut it out with scissors. The result should be a cone with a cropped top. We fix its edges together with a wire;
  • We install the cone with the pointed part inside the cylinder. The edges of the cone and the edges of the cylinder are also fastened with wire. On the other side of the shell, the same cone with a truncated top is installed;
  • Then we will make a hole through which it will be possible to put the bait into the cradle and, accordingly, get the prey. In the center of the metal cylinder we mark a rectangle 15 by 20 cm, we bite the wire with wire cutters from three sides. It turns out a kind of door. After the bait is placed in the cradle, the door is fixed in the incised places with wire;
  • Finally, we tie a long rope along the edges of the shell. Now you can go to catch crayfish.

What should be the bait for crayfish

Before you go catching crayfish, you need to find out more about what kind of smell the bait should have, since it is it that serves as the key to a big catch.

Oddly enough, in addition to rotten meat, crayfish willingly go for rye bread with garlic.

Unpeeled garlic is pre-crushed and pressed into the crumb, and so that the bait does not sag longer, it is placed in a nylon stocking.

You can also twist the bread with garlic into a meat grinder, and distribute the resulting mixture in portions over gauze bags.

Crayfish have an unusually strong sense of smell, and they are too fond of the smell of garlic, so you can put more of it.

Some rakolov refute the information that the bait in the form of rotten meat or fish is the most effective. On the contrary, it is good to catch crayfish on fresh products, pre-cut into pieces.

If you plan to catch prey for fish, it is recommended to use roach or bream as bait.

In the spring, they use fish caught with their own hands or bought frozen as bait. It can be gobies, roach, carp.

As mentioned above, fish carcasses are cut.

Summer bait can be animal meat. During the heat period, crayfish willingly feast on the stomach, part of the head or liver. Such bait can be purchased at the market and cut into pieces.

In autumn, when the period of cooling sets in, bread with garlic is placed in the crayfish.

How to set up and when to check crawfish

Traps for crayfish can be set both from the shore and from a boat. The second option is most often used if the approach to the reservoir is heavily overgrown with reeds and, of course, there is a boat available.

In order not to lose orientation relative to the installed crayfish, in that place on the surface of the water, a non-sinking object is tied to the rope of the trap.

Styrofoam or similar can be used as a float for a crayfish.

Placing a crayfish from the shore, they stock up on a stag - a long horned stick. The rope of the crayfish clings to the stalk, the stick is exposed from the shore, after which the signal rope descends, and the crayfish lies on the bottom of the reservoir.

This is done so that the prey does not eat all the bait. In addition, arthropods can be attracted by a kindled fire, it is good to place traps along the line of its reflection in the water.

In addition, at night, crayfish come to the shore of the reservoir, so they can be easily collected with a flashlight.

Rak boiled in salt water with spices is an excellent snack for a foamy drink. But many beer lovers are simply lazy or do not know how to catch them. This is partly due to the fact that there is no fishing tool - a rachevnya, or a rakolovka.

In this article we will tell you how to make a do-it-yourself crayfish and how best to attach the bait in it. We will also briefly give examples of baits for catching crayfish and indicate for setting traps.

Types of crayfish

Rakolovki are open type and closed, and both can be made at home. Here is a short list of the various designs:

  • plastic bottle trap;
  • screen;
  • inkwell;
  • top;
  • umbrella.

We will describe the manufacture of some of these racheven in this article.

From a bottle

The simplest and fastest version of a homemade rachev can be easily made from such a popular material of all our DIYers as a plastic bottle. To make a trap we need:

  • plastic bottle of five liters;
  • soft wire or thick fishing line;
  • rope;
  • cargo;
  • awl;
  • knife and scissors.

We give a description of how to make a trap for crayfish, having the above materials and tools:

  1. Cut off the top of the plastic bottle with the neck.
  2. I will cut off the neck itself so that a hole is made in which the cancer can crawl through.
  3. We turn the upper part over and insert it into the lower half with the tapering end inward, so it is easy for the cancer to get inside, but then it is difficult to get out of the trap.
  4. We connect the two halves. You can knit them together with a fishing line or wire threaded through the holes made with an awl.
  5. In the main part of the bottle we make large holes for air release.
  6. We attach some kind of weight to the bottom to prevent the trap from floating up.
  7. From the inside to the bottom we knit a loop for attaching the bait.
  8. We tie a rope to the junction of the parts of the trap.

On the pond, you need to untie the wire connecting the two parts of the shell and strengthen the bait. Then again you need to tie both halves. After that, holding the homemade trap by the rope, we throw the trap into the selected place of the reservoir. We fix the rope on the shore with a cord to a driven peg or a growing bush or tree.

In the form of a pinnacle

This design resembles the previous model in the way crayfish enter it through a tapering cone. It is best made from metal fine mesh. Let's describe how to make this type of crayfish:

  1. Cut off a strip of mesh about a meter wide. This piece can be from one and a half to two and a half meters long, it will be difficult to throw and pull out a longer trap.
  2. We turn the strip into a cylinder, the diameter of its base will be about thirty centimeters.
  3. We connect the edges of the strip with each other using a knitting wire or weld.
  4. From the same grid we form cone entrances in the amount of two pieces.
  5. We fasten them with a narrow side to the base of the cylinder with a wire.
  6. We tie the narrow ends of the cones together inside the trap with three wire ties.
  7. We tie ropes to one or both ends.

A bait is placed in the trap, then the top on the crayfish is thrown or brought into the water, depending on its size. It is not necessary to load it, since the metal mesh holds perfectly at the bottom.

Screen

Screens are called elevator-type traps with a mesh stretched over a metal frame. They are also easy to make at home. For this we need:

  • strong elastic steel wire with a diameter of 4-6 millimeters;
  • mesh with small cells;
  • cord.

To make a crayfish from this, you need to do the following:

  1. We bend the wire in the form of a circle with a diameter of about fifty centimeters. To do this, we need a piece of 1.5-1.6 meters long.
  2. The ends of the wire are welded or tied with knitting wire.
  3. On the resulting hoop we stretch the mesh. The tension should not be tight, so that the net sags a little in the center.
  4. We tie four laces of the same length to the hoop, the segments should be about 40-50 centimeters.
  5. We tie the second ends of the laces together.
  6. We attach the rope to the common knot.

On the pond, we tie the rope to a long, strong pole. In the middle of the screen we put the load and tie the bait, placed in a bag of rare fabric. It could be:

  • tulle;
  • gauze;
  • women's tights, you can not new.

We lower the crayfish into the water and wait for the crayfish. You need to check this trap every 20-30 minutes. We pull out the rakolovka vertically, while the load helps to pull the bottom, preventing the prey from quickly leaving the crab.

Inkwell

If you slightly improve the previous trap, then you can make an ink pot. She received this name because of the similarity with the non-spill ink bottle, which was used by Soviet schoolchildren when writing with a fountain pen.

To upgrade, we need to bend another ring using a one meter long piece of wire. It is easy to calculate that the diameter of the small ring will be about thirty centimeters. Next, we do this:

  1. We take the bottom with a mesh stretched over it from the previous design.
  2. We connect the bottom with the ring using three or four knitting needles, 20-30 centimeters high. Welding electrodes are excellent for this. The result was a design in the form of a wire truncated cone.
  3. We stretch the mesh on the sides of the cone.
  4. We tie the laces to the small upper ring, they can also be fastened to the bottom, and simply overwhelmed through the small hoop.
  5. We connect the laces together and tie a rope to them.

On the pond, we equip the inkwell in the same way as the screen. But thanks to the high sides, it is difficult for crayfish to get out of it, so you can leave such a trap without pulling it out for a much longer period, from two to six hours.

Application

Regardless of the design, all crayfish use the same type of bait. To attract crayfish into a trap, use the following baits:

  • fish cutting;
  • fresh fish;
  • chicken and rabbit giblets;
  • pet liver;
  • bread with garlic or dill.

On steep washed banks. It is desirable that the bottom in this place be clayey or bordering on stones. It is in this soil that crayfish make their minks.

"traps for crayfish"

Everyone loves crayfish and many in childhood probably tried to catch them. In addition to special traps sold in fishing stores, you can use them yourself, at home from improvised materials.

How to make crawfish at home?

There are a large number of different traps, but two are the most popular. This is a crab in the form of a cone and a yater.

The first version of the shell

First you need to prepare the materials, you will need:

  1. metal mesh with small cells (approximately 8mm-2cm);
  2. wire; pliers;
  3. wire cutters;
  4. roulette;
  5. grid.

We measure the grid about 80 cm-meter and cut it with scissors for metal. We twist a piece of the mesh with a tube, and fasten the ends together to form a “pipe”.

Now we measure the wire of the required length and fasten the ends of the mesh along the edges with it, cut off the remaining cloves.

We measure the formed circle in the pipe and use a marker to mark the grid. We cut it out with scissors, and squeeze the resulting circle in the center to form a cone from the circle. And we fasten it according to the same principle as the tube, with the help of a wire, and cut off the excess.

Now you should fasten the two resulting blanks - a cone and a cylinder, also along the edge with wire.

There should be a hole in the middle of the horse through which the crayfish will climb to the bait, it should be wide enough for it to enter, but not too big to exit from there.

The advantage of this type of crayfish is that it is more durable than the rest and the crayfish cannot damage it. But a significant drawback - it takes up a large amount of space, which means it is inconvenient during transportation.

Second option

Materials:

  1. Two circles made of wire;
  2. Nylon fine mesh,
  3. Strong threads;
  4. Pliers;
  5. Roulette.

To begin with, two hoops are covered with a mesh. One should be slightly smaller in diameter than the other.

After tightening, you should take care of the sides of the trap - they must be fastened from a mesh with a large cell diameter so that the crayfish can climb there.

After fastening the side of the mesh with two rings - with a smaller diameter will be at the top - a thread is attached to the top in several places.

Optimally 5-7 mounts. And already for the upper threads the trap with crayfish will rise from the water.

The advantage of such a shell is that, due to the lack of wire fastening, it will fold up and take up little space.

Types of crayfish:

  • Bottle shell. The easiest way is when there is no net or trap at hand, and you can’t catch it with your hands.
  • Merezhi. The device is more perfect than traps. Cancer can easily enter, but in no way will be able to get out of there. There are several types: standing hemlines (neck at the top), recumbent hemlines (the neck can be on both sides).
  • Cone shell. There is a hole for the entry of crayfish.
  • In the form of a yater.
  • Rakolovka - an umbrella.
  • Round.

In addition to crayfish, you can also fish with a bait, both homemade from a rod and a thread with a hook, and professional tackle. The downside is the ability to catch only one crayfish at a time.

With this method, you can use anything as bait, for example: a worm, corn, bread, rotten fish and meat. Fishing by hand is widespread, it is suitable for places with a large number of crayfish.

Netting is used.

How to make crayfish rings?

Materials required: two pieces of wire, one longer than the other (for example: 80cm and 95cm); wire cutters; ruler; marker.

To give the wire a round shape, it must be bent around a bucket or pan if it is soft.

When using a harder metal or thick wire, it can be bent using a hammer, gradually giving a rounded shape, to speed up the process, the wire can be preheated.

Then, the ends of the two wires are bent in different directions and small notches are made on them, which are then fastened with a copper wire.

The wire should be wound in two rows to prevent unwinding and loosening of the fastener. The ends of the winding are twisted together and bent or soldered for strong fixation.

If possible, you can do without copper wire by fastening the ends of the wire over a gas burner or using a soldering iron.

How to sew the net to the board of the crayfish?

We measure the diameter of the resulting ring with a tape measure or ruler. Then we apply with a marker on the straightened measurement grid, outlining a circle. Let's cut it out. When calculating the diameter of a circle, one should not forget that a few centimeters must be added for the gap.

Then a strong thread is taken, such as kapron, and a mesh is sewn with a large needle (with a wide needle eye). It is desirable to make several windings, and after a few stitches, fix the thread with a knot.

For strength, you can make 2-3 circles of firmware, then the probability of rupture becomes less.

In order for the mesh not to slip when it is sewn, you need to attach it and make a few stitches around the entire perimeter - then it will be fixed and it will be easier to sew.

How to catch more fish?

I have been active fishing for quite some time and have found many ways to improve the bite. And here are the most effective ones:
  1. . Attracts fish in cold and warm water with the help of pheromones included in the composition and stimulates their appetite. It is a pity that Rosprirodnadzor wants to ban its sale.
  2. More sensitive gear. Reviews and instructions for other types of gear you can find on the pages of my site.
  3. Lures using pheromones.

How to make a cone shaped shell?

You will need two mesh-covered hoops, according to the principle described above. Then the rings are covered with mesh on the side, in order for them to be fixed, they are fastened with several pieces of wire or special spacers (at least three).

A small ring should be fixed above a large one, at a distance of 15-20 cm. When fastening, it is necessary to monitor the symmetry of the entire structure so that nothing slips.

As a result, a free circle remains at the top, where the cancer can climb on its own, but it will be impossible to get out.

The advantage over the yater is that it is much less likely to tear and get confused.

How to make a shell out of plastic bottles?

Materials:

  1. 4-8 rectangular bottles. Best suited for bottled water. Bottles should be 5-6l.
  2. Scissors or knife. For cutting the neck.
  3. Wire for fastening the structure.

We wash the bottles with water and cut off the neck and neck before narrowing, then insert it into the bottle with its funnel down. The structure is fastened around the perimeter with wire so that the funnel does not fall out.

Then the bottles are fastened together with wire to form a single trap.

In the first one, a large number of slots are made, they are needed to quickly fill the bottle with water, and, consequently, quickly immerse it in water.

A load, such as a stone, is attached to the last in the chain.

If several traps are made in different places, then the bottles are not fastened with wire to each other, a hole is made in each of them and a load is suspended.

The whole structure is lowered into the water. The neck is cut off with the aim that a large cancer will not be able to climb inside to the bait.

This is the easiest and cheapest way to create traps, and will work if there are no materials nearby.

But the disadvantage is that the cancer can get out of the trap quite easily, as well as the fact that a large amount of prey does not fit inside the bottle, it is designed for two or three cancers at most.

Rakolovka in the form of a yater

Materials:

  1. Strong wire for rings or ready-made rings.
  2. Grid with a small cell (1-3 cm).
  3. Thread for fixation (nylon or kapron).
  4. Pliers for cutting mesh and wire.
  5. Ruler or tape measure.
  6. Marker for notes.

First, we make circles from wire and fit them with a mesh. The circles should be of the same diameter, about 5 of them are made. Then, at the same distance from each other, they are covered with nets, with exact symmetry.

The diameter of the circles is measured and with a small addition (about 7-10 cm) is measured on the grid. Two circles are cut out and cones are formed from them. There should be a small hole in the middle for the cancer to climb into the trap.

The resulting cones are sewn with a thread on both sides of the pipe formed by the rings and mesh. Firmly fixed. The trap is ready to use.

The advantage of such a trap is its spaciousness and less chance that the prey will be able to get free.

Like the cone-shaped crawfish, this one can be folded if made of fabric mesh rather than wire mesh. This will ensure its ease of storage and the ability to put even in a backpack.

It is very easy to make from improvised materials both at home and already at the place of direct fishing for crayfish. Self-made traps can be exactly the size that is most convenient for you.

It is also a significant plus in the absence of cash costs and the need to search for the desired design in fishing stores.

catching crayfish- an easy task. It is enough to have a rakolovka (rachevnya), which can be easily made do it yourself. The simplest and most common design of the crayfish is a ring made of steel wire with a diameter of 40-50 cm covered with mesh. The disadvantage of such a crayfish is that it must be checked every 25-40 minutes. since crayfish, having eaten, can easily leave it.

The crayfish, the manufacture of which is described below, can be left overnight, since 90% of the crayfish that have fallen into this crayfish will have a hard time getting back.

To make a do-it-yourself crayfish, we need:
- fine mesh;
- wire with a diameter of 4-6mm;
- plastic clamps;
- kapron thread.

First of all, we make two metal rings. bottom ring with a diameter of 40-50 cm, and the upper ring with a diameter of 15-20 cm.

We grab the mesh to the ring with plastic clamps every 5-7 cm. Instead of plastic clamps, you can use a nylon thread.

We make three spacers, from a wire of smaller diameter, for these purposes I used electrodes d 3mm. Spacers must be made of equal length and in such a way that the ring of smaller diameter is in the center at a height of 12-18 cm.

So that the cradle can be folded for ease of transportation, we make one of the three spacers removable. The remaining two are fixed on the rings.

After the spacers are installed, we tighten the sidewalls of the shell. And we grab the clamps on the upper ring.

We fasten the clamps on the upper ring of the shell in increments of 10-15 mm. After that, we cut off the excess and the shell is ready for use. Now you can safely throw the crayfish into the water and harvest in the morning with peace of mind :)

Finally, I want to note that the bait should be tied to the bottom of the shell. It is best to use fresh fish, and not rotten, as many believe. Experienced rakolov also put a little dill with the bait and, in a mesh bag, a piece of cake and a slice of rye bread, the crust of which is rubbed with garlic.
