When planning the construction of their own home, more and more site owners are turning their attention to aerated concrete blocks. Indeed, this material allows you to build walls in the shortest possible time, with minimal labor costs.   • the plasticity of the material practically eliminates heat loss;
  • the thin-layer masonry of gas blocks is much stronger and more durable than standard cement-sand mortars.

How to prepare and use glue

To prepare the glue, you need a construction mixer or drill with a suitable attachment. Dry concentrate is added to pre-collected water (temperature up to +600 C). After thorough mixing, the solution is allowed to settle for 15 minutes and beat again for about a minute. If the laying will be done in the cold season, it is better to give preference to special adhesives with antifreeze additives and store the mixture at a temperature not lower than +50 C. In hot weather, the solution is suitable for work up to 120 minutes, in cold weather - 25-30 minutes.


When using an adhesive, it must be borne in mind that the solution needs stirring every 15-20 minutes to maintain its homogeneous consistency.

It is undesirable to carry out work in strong wind or atmospheric precipitation (rain, snow). So the solution "picks up moisture", which will affect its adhesive ability.


Before using the glue base directly, it is worth conducting a test gluing to determine which joint thickness will be optimal.

Roughly, the indicators will be as follows: for 1 kg of ordinary glue, 0.3 liters of water; for a winter mixture, 0.2 liters will be required. At the same time, the time spent on laying and correcting blocks is reduced to the required minimum.



Aerated concrete is a convenient material for masonry. It is lightweight and fits on glue, which allows thin seams to be created to minimize cold bridges. Consumption of glue for aerated concrete per 1 m 3 is about 25 kg (1 standard bag).

However, thanks to plasticizers and fine-grained sand in the composition, it allows you to make thinner seams, which reduces glue consumption and makes winter laying at a cost comparable to conventional ones. But when laying gas blocks in winter, you need to remember that the seams must be completely filled, and the mixture must be used in 30 minutes, while in warm weather it can be consumed within two hours.

  • frugality. The fact is that glue can be used not only for its intended purpose - that is, for gluing, but also as a putty;
  • relatively low cost;
  • ease of use (of course, if you have certain skills).

It should be noted that the type of glue that should be used during work depends on the weather conditions. For example, in the cold season, you need to choose a special frost-resistant glue. It should be kneaded, of course, at room temperature, using hot water (40–60 ° C). You need to take out the finished mixture in the frost under a lid. At the same time, keep in mind that the curing time of the glue in frost is rather short, therefore, it is necessary to correct the element planted on the glue immediately. You will have no more than three minutes for this.

Among the components of the adhesive composition, the following must be present:

  • Portland cement;
  • fine sand that has passed the sifting procedure;
  • modifiers;
  • polymer additives.

To reduce the consumption of bonding agent per cube, you should use the correct tools when working. Here is a list of everything you need to get started:

  • notched trowel for applying adhesive;
  • rubber hammer;
  • mixing paddle;
  • saw with carbide teeth;
  • wall chaser;
  • coarse grater;
  • metal brush;

The second, third, fourth and all subsequent rows of aerated concrete blocks should be laid using not cement-sand sweep, but special glue, which reliably holds the structural elements together. You should start laying the next row in the same way as we laid the first - from the corners. But only with a ligation, that is, with a shift of half the block. Standard brickwork is built in the same way.
