Presses existed back in Ancient Egypt; they were used to press grapes from which they made wine. Such units operate on a cyclical principle: the start of work is the loading of the product, and the end of the work is the disposal of dry waste. In private households of the 21st century, presses are in demand, and they are not much different in principle from those that worked during the times of the pharaohs.

Types of structures and their principle of operation

A press that allows high-quality juice extraction is necessary in private households. Factory-made juicers do not have the same advantages as a homemade press. Also important economic factor, because a good juicer from a branded manufacturer costs a decent amount. Press designs are divided according to the pressing principle into the following types:

  • mechanical;
  • pneumatic;
  • hydraulic.

And also depending on the principle of energy that is used, presses are presented in the following varieties:

  • manual;
  • electromechanical.

Important! You should also take into account the fact that vitamins in fruits and fruits are fragile elements. Similar connections quickly collapse upon contact with any metal.

It is worth considering an apple press as an example. The main block of any unit is a special container with drilled holes, into which chopped raw materials are placed. In professional parlance, this initial mass is called “pulp.” The juice drains and falls into a special vessel. All parts that are in direct contact with the resulting product are made of wood. To increase the efficiency of the squeeze, as well as improve the quality of the resulting product, the raw materials are loaded into the press in special fabric containers made of burlap; they act as a kind of filter. The extrusion process itself occurs thanks to the use of special wooden gratings, which allows you to simultaneously use the entire working mass.

Many experts point out that It’s better to do the press yourself. Price for the most simple devices is at least ten thousand rubles. It is important what material the unit is made of and what its performance is.

If the simplest hydraulic drive is used, the price increases by almost 100%. If there is a membrane element in the press, then its cost will increase by 1000%.

How to make it yourself?

To make a manual apple gardening unit yourself, you will need the following tools:

You will also need a stainless steel sheet and wooden elements made from oak, birch, beech or alder. It is imperative to draw design drawings, and samples can be found on the Internet at open access. You will need a natural strong fabric with good filtering properties (burlap, cotton). It is not recommended to use chipboard in such structures, since this material is often saturated with phenol and formaldehyde.

Manual homemade apparatus in a private household, it can be welded from iron; such a unit is not difficult to quickly assemble yourself. For the stove, which is located at the bottom of the device, it is permissible to use a countertop. It is most rational to purchase a rotating mechanism on a trading platform that sells automobile spare parts.

Small hydraulic units are also common in households. A hydraulic press works on the principle of creating pressure through liquid. In this case, the working cylinder is usually located vertically (sometimes there are horizontal modifications). A hydraulic jack has greater productivity and is capable of creating significant loads - at least one ton, which is quite enough for fruit. Hydraulic bottle jacks can a short time process large volumes of raw materials.

Hydraulic

The operation of the device is based on one of the main physical laws of Pascal. The main design elements are two working chambers of a cylindrical configuration, which have different parameters. In a small container it is generated high blood pressure liquids. It is fed through a special overpass into a chamber, which is much larger in size, thus creating pressure on the piston.

The piston is the main unit, which directly exerts significant force on the mass loaded into the container. Most often, special oils are used as working fluids.

The hydraulic press can also work using a special elastic barrel. It will increase in volume under the influence of liquid. When expanding, the membrane acts on the raw materials, which are placed in a perforated container. The hydraulic press can be connected to a water supply; the membrane expands in the perforated cylinder itself, which makes it possible to squeeze out all the liquid contents from the pulp as much as possible.

The pressure should correspond to 1.4–2.1 atmospheres, which corresponds to the technical data of the networks. If there are large volumes of material, then you will definitely need a press with an electric drive.

The collection container is lined with filters from the inside, raw materials are placed in it, and covered with a cloth. A circle descends onto the outer part of the lid; it acts on the press when the rod moves. The required pressure can be created using a compressor. To collect juice, most often an enamel bowl is used, in which a special tube is sealed so that the product flows through it. A washing machine tank is often placed in the inner area.

Additional perpendicular cross members should also be created to provide additional rigidity so that the container can be placed in the central part.

It is important to monitor the pressure; it should be distributed to all points of the pulp with equal force.

The cavity can be filled with special filter envelopes that are placed flat. A special fixing round device (can be made of wood) is placed under the container so that the pressure cannot deform the main container. Without special effort such a screw press is capable of squeezing up to two liters of fresh juice in 4–7 minutes. A material that can withstand high pressure is burlap, and old nylon tights are also often used.

It is worth noting that the design of a hydraulic unit, made independently, can be quickly adapted to solve the task that is required at the moment. Such a device takes up minimal space. A home press is capable of creating pressure of up to twenty tons to make juices, this is quite enough.

Screw

The screw unit has the ability to squeeze out up to three buckets of juice in one hour, which is quite enough for the needs of one family. Very convenient device- This is a manual screw press. It is not very efficient, but the unit can work quite efficiently. Often this type of press is made in private households. The screw mechanism can press from the top plane using a rotating screw.

If you design a press where there is a lower fixation, then more effort will be required, such a device is more complex, it has a screw upper block It only secures the lid, nothing more. The main force comes from below, the dynamic platform lifts the tank upward.

If it is not possible to make a screw pair, then most often a jack is used. Bags of filter material are placed between the wooden elements. The product to be processed is placed between special wooden frames, and the juice flows into a container.

The screw piston can be replaced with a plastic membrane, and a compressor can also be connected so that the most difficult part of the work is done by pressurized air. This unit is called a pneumatic press. Car jacks are often used to generate the required pressure; they can create a force of up to 3.5 tons. It can be mounted either from above or from below, which depends on the general structure of the unit itself.

The pressure is quite significant, which should be taken into account when selecting fabric. It should be quite durable. The advantage of such a unit is that there is no metal. The tree can be any, only non-coniferous, so as not to add unnecessary flavor.

A rather original unit is also used, which is called a wedge press. The product is placed in a cone-shaped wooden container. Reducing the angle with moving wedges causes them to move towards the joint. The bag with the product is compressed, the juice, being squeezed out, flows into the vessel. This press has the following advantages:

  • the design is simple;
  • economically feasible;
  • easy to store and install;
  • quite high performance;
  • The unit is easy to disassemble, clean and dry.

An example is a press made in Turkey. The frame is made of cast iron, and the inside is coated with silver plating. The product is pressed using a lever-type mechanism. The operation is silent, and up to 75% of the useful material can be extracted from the product in a very short time. It is intended for pomegranate, apples, pears, and citrus fruits.

Screw

Such presses operate on the principle of a meat grinder. They have a rotating axis, which is made like a spiral, due to which the processed mass, located in the container, is ground and gradually moves inside the unit. As a result, it rests against the grate, the new mass creates excess pressure at the back, and the juice is squeezed out. Such a device has the following advantages:

  • absence of vibration and background noise;
  • you can get juices from any vegetables and fruits;
  • simplicity and reliability of the machine.

The most labor-intensive product is considered citrus fruits. The screw unit crushes the contents of the fruit, the juice seeps through a special sieve. The cone-shaped configuration makes it possible to carry out all the work efficiently, while simultaneously removing waste.

It is best to use a mechanical unit in the shape of a cylinder as a shredder. Its walls should be made according to the grater principle. Using a similar element, the fruits become fine crumbs. There are also shredders that can operate from electrical network, the productivity of such devices is high, but in private households they are not in great demand.

The grinder can be a separate device or a unit that is mounted in a press installation. The filter is made from several layers of burlap, as well as perforated plates and a wooden sieve.

Each type of fruit has its own technical characteristics; accordingly, different efforts are spent on processing a particular product. When working with a device such as a press, you should keep in mind that the pressure is increased gradually, with some pauses. This approach makes it possible to open the cellular capillaries as much as possible, which in turn “removes” all the useful components from the cellular tissue of the product.

The simple design of a home press makes it possible to squeeze up to 75% juice from any product. To make a choice hydraulic jack, you should understand exactly what problems need to be solved using it. This will tell you the design principle of the manual hydraulic press, as well as the level of pressure it can create.

" Apples

Apple trees periodically provide amateur gardeners with such a large-scale harvest that there is nowhere to put the excess fruit. In addition to jam and compotes, there remains one more option for processing fruits - juice. But many people do not bother with this type of workpiece due to the high labor intensity of the process. Ordinary household juicers simply cannot cope with large volumes of raw materials, and not everyone is ready to buy a professional machine for the season. But there is great option– quickly and efficiently squeeze juice from apples using a home-made press.

To make a standard press yourself, you do not need special skills or drawings. Anyone can measure, saw off a strip, hammer a nail or tighten a nut if desired. Doesn't have to be owned welding machine, any design can be reproduced in wood using ordinary gardening tools .

To make a home press from tools, you will need a hacksaw for wood and metal (or a grinder), a welding machine, screwdrivers, pliers, and a hammer. As for materials, the following are mainly used:

  • metal channel;
  • wooden blocks, slats, boards;
  • self-tapping screws, bolts and nuts;
  • tank or barrel, steel sheet from of stainless steel;
  • bench screw and nut, valve, threaded rod or jack - depending on the chosen design;
  • durable fabric with good drainage properties for apple bags: calico, cotton, jute burlap, linen.

It is better to make wooden elements from oak, birch or beech, since materials from biologically active tree species (spruce, pine) can change the taste of the juice. Under no circumstances should drainage grates be made from chipboard: fine dust impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde glue will get into the product.

Types of designs: diagrams and drawings

The main thing in the press is a solid base and working mechanism.

Operating principle of the device:

  • layer by layer through drainage grates prepared raw materials for pressing are stacked(chopped apples) in fabric bags;
  • by means of a mechanism oppression falls from above and presses the juice.

A good press squeezes out 65-70% of the juice, leaving an almost dry pulp. It’s quite possible to make one with your own hands.

Homemade press designs differ in the operating principle of the main mechanism:

  1. Screw.
  2. Jack based: mechanical and hydraulic.
  3. Combined.

In the bulk of structures, the pressure is from above, but in the combined version, compression occurs in two directions: using a screw mechanism at the top and a hydraulic jack at the bottom.

The juice press consists of the following parts:

  • sustainable bed;
  • quadrangular or cylindrical frame, inside which bags of chopped apples are folded;
  • wooden gratings, with which the bags are transferred so that they do not spread;
  • piston-gne t, directly exerting pressure on the cake;
  • thrust bearing for a jack;
  • working mechanism: screw with handle, mechanical or hydraulic jack;
  • bowl-tray.

The main body can be:

  • single perforated: the juice will flow through the holes along the walls and through the bottom into the pan;
  • double: a solid casing with a slightly larger diameter is placed on a perforated metal cylinder;
  • in the form of a solid metal body with one drain hole below;
  • collected from wooden slats connected by hoops, − barrel. The walls serve as a drainage grid.

There may be no body at all- simply a pyramid of wooden lattice frames in a tray with a mouth at the bottom, under which a container for juice is placed.

This design easy and quick to install. For the bottom plate, you can take a piece of countertop, for example.

Worm gear or hydraulic jack: what to choose?

The screw (worm) mechanism in the press is implemented in the form of a large screw (threaded axis) with a nut or a mechanical jack. The latter option is much simpler - you can buy it at a spare parts store or take it out of the trunk of a car; you don’t need to look for, adjust, grind or weld anything.

Designs based on a hydraulic jack are much more productive(force from 1t) than mechanical ones, and require a minimum of human labor. Hydraulic bottle jacks make it possible to squeeze juice quickly and in large volumes. They fit comfortably into any design.

You can design a press with a removable mechanism, then you don’t have to buy a special jack, but you can use the one on duty in the trunk. After all, the apple harvest is not good every year.

Making a press yourself

The press needs a stable, strong support - a bed. The simplest thing is to assemble it from wooden blocks using screws. For the manufacture of metal frame You will need a welding machine and a channel.

The dimensions of the frame depend on the diameter of the working body or the parameters of the drainage grids. Therefore, if you are planning a hull structure, then you need to prepare the container in advance.

The simplest frame press with a worm mechanism

Welded stable structure. A hole is cut in the center of the upper channel for the screw nut (you can use an old bench or order it from a turner). The nut is welded into the frame.

Then Assembling a wooden drainage grate, which consists of two layers of slats packed perpendicular to each other. The thickness of the slats is not less than 20 mm. It is also necessary to install a stand made of bars. A retainer for the pressure part of the screw is attached to the top board - any metal part of a suitable shape (can be mounted with epoxy glue).

The tray is made of stainless steel sheet, in the front part the spout-drain is arched. All that remains is to substitute a pan or other container. The result is abs.

The bed for a hydraulic press is assembled according to the same principle as for a screw press. The easiest way to use a body is to take a ready-made metal or wooden barrel. A hole is cut at the very bottom and equipped with a drain spout.

If wooden barrel not completely sealed - even good. The juice will drain in several directions at once, and in the end it will still end up in the pan. It is better to put it on top of such a design plastic casing larger in diameter to avoid splashing.

You can make a wooden case yourself:

  1. Will need: several boards of equal size (can be parquet), two strips of stainless steel and self-tapping screws with an anti-corrosion coating.
  2. The boards are screwed on top and bottom with self-tapping screws to the stripes at a distance of approximately 10 mm.
  3. Strips with boards are bent in the form of a circle, the ends of the strips are bolted together.
  4. A plastic bowl of suitable diameter can be used as a tray. with a drain cut out at the bottom for juice.

Another important element is the jack stop.. Usually made of wood: you need to knock down the slats and cut out a circle from the resulting canvas slightly smaller than the diameter of the working body. You can use a grinder to cut out a support from a stainless steel sheet.

Drainage gaskets are made in the same way as in the description for a screw press, but they are given a round shape.

The end result should be a design similar to the one in the photo.

Preparation of raw materials

The principle of squeezing apple juice simple - the finer the raw materials are chopped, the more product will be obtained at the exit. It is best to use a special chopper (crusher), since finely chopping several buckets of apples by hand is theoretically possible, but in fact difficult to implement. An electric meat grinder for large volumes is also not an option: it roars, howls, gets hot, and may eventually burn out. You can also make a suitable crusher yourself.

The simplest design of a homemade crusher

A deep hopper is mounted lightly on the cone from moisture-resistant plywood or stainless steel sheet. For stability, two bars are attached to it from below. A wooden roller (preferably made of beech) with self-tapping screws wound in a spiral is cut into the lower part of the container. You can use a regular kitchen rolling pin as a drum.. The axis of rotation of the roller comes out, a drill is inserted into it and the process begins.

Some people simply crush apples in a bucket using a construction mixer.

The process of squeezing juice from apples at home

After the raw materials are prepared, they laid out in fabric bags or wrapped in pieces of fabric like an envelope. Next, the bundles are placed in a container, basket, or simply on the bottom of the structure in layers through drainage grates. Fits about 3-4 bags. The pressure is lowered from above, the juice flows into the pan. When the squeezing process is completed, the pulp is removed and the next batch is loaded.

The remaining cake after high-quality pressure is usually obtained dry and compressed into “tablets” (photo 16).

It is better to dispose of the pomace in compost heap. Worms reproduce very well on such material, creating valuable fertilizer for the garden.

The resulting juice can not only be drunk fresh, but also prepared for the winter:

  • pasteurized rolled juice;
  • apple wine several types;
  • apple cider.

Apples are a very valuable product for health.. It is extremely imprudent and wasteful to bury and give away surplus crops to neighboring pigs. By building a couple of simple devices, you can quickly and easily process all the fruits. And in winter it will be so nice to take healthy and tasty amber drinks out of the cellar or refrigerator!

If you don’t have a juicer on your farm, but at your dacha every year big harvest apples from which you need to make juice, then you need mechanical press. A similar situation arises among wine lovers who do not want to manually crush juicy berries or trample them. Home craftsmen suggest making a press with your own hands for processing fruits. In this article we will look at how to make an apple press with your own hands.

Types and principles of operation of juice presses

Devices that are designed for juice production are divided into several types:

  • mechanical devices;
  • hydraulic units;
  • electrohydraulic devices;
  • pneumatic mechanisms.

Mechanical

The most common option is a mechanical screw press. At first glance, you can understand the principle of operation of such a unit. Grapes, crushed fruits or berries are poured into the device’s container, which has holes. After this, by rotating the handle, a screw is activated, which lowers the flat piston. In this way, the juice is squeezed out and flows through the holes located in the casing into the tray, after which it enters prepared jars or other containers.

Important! To produce the casing, stainless steel is used or solid beech wood is used, from which the drainage version of the grate is made. The product consists of two halves, which are connected to each other by metal hoops.

Hydraulic

A modernized version of the mechanical unit is a manual hydraulic press for processing apples and grapes. It does not have a perforated container for separating juice. Instead, several drainage frames made of wood are used, between which bags with crushed raw materials are placed.

The manual version of the hydraulic jack is capable of developing a large force, corresponding to from 1 to 5 tons, due to which 70% of the juice of the volume of the initially placed fruit is obtained.

Important! Hydraulic Press Grifon (Griffin) has in an original way refuse. It does not have a hydraulic jack. The developers have introduced a powerful “barrel” membrane. Pressure tap water at 1.5-2 atm. expands the membrane, due to which the juice is squeezed out through the wall of the casing, which is perforated.

Pneumatic

A pneumatic press operates on exactly the same principle. The fruit squeezing membrane is filling compressed air from the compressor, not water.

Important! All juice presses operate in combination with grinders. The most simple mechanism is a steel drum-grater, which is placed in a casing having a loading neck. When the handle rotates, the chopper operates, turning the fruit into very fine crumbs and pulp.

Electrohydraulic

A more advanced option is an electric drive mechanism. This device is characterized by a minimum of physical effort and maximum productivity.

Which press should you choose?

Mechanical presses have a small productivity, which corresponds to 10-30 liters per hour. For processing berries, fruits and grapes grown on summer cottages, such equipment is quite enough, so you can easily make such a press for squeezing juice with your own hands.

To increase the quantity of juice produced and its quality, you can use two methods:

  • use of container bags for crushed fruits;
  • use of wooden drainage grates or stainless steel “pancakes”.

Important! Both options help improve the drainage of juice from the middle of the volume, which is compressed. The lack of drainage leads to the fact that the middle part of the crushed fruit is squeezed out much worse compared to the upper and lower layers. An additional positive aspect of using bags is the ability to free the juice from the pulp.

If there are a large number of berries or fruits that need to be processed, an electric drive is used. In this case, two types of equipment are used:

  • a traditional screw device, which is driven by an electric motor-hydraulic jack combination;
  • a screw press that operates on the principle of a meat grinder.

A screw press juicer with an electric motor connected to it is used as a processing device for processing grapes, berries and tomatoes. The screw unit forces the crushed raw materials through a sieve, resulting in the formation of juice with a large amount of pulp at the output.

Simple DIY grape press

Screw press for grape processing includes:

  • base, the so-called frame;
  • basket;
  • a pressing device, the so-called jack or screw;
  • pressing piston.

Important! There are other options for making the mechanism. During the manufacturing process of the device, you can use either pre-prepared sketches of the press or prepare your own drawings.

Materials and tools for making a press:

  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • 50 liter tank;
  • drill;
  • tap;
  • metal channel with dimensions 10-12 mm - 150 mm;
  • jack;
  • metal corner having a size of 40-50 mm - 3200 mm;
  • oak slats 40x25x400 mm in the amount of 50 pieces;
  • a piece of fabric about one meter;
  • fishing line 2 mm about 3 m.

Let's look at the process of making an apple press with your own hands.

Frame

The base is one of important elements a device that must have strength properties and be of a strong structure, since during operation the entire main load falls on the frame:

  • For the side parts of the press we use metal corners with a height of 85 mm.
  • The upper and lower parts of the base are made from metal channel, which is about 70 cm long.

For strength, you can use additional reinforcement of the structure by welding gussets between the corners and the channel, while welding all the joints together.

Important! If a screw press design is used, we weld a nut for the screw to the upper channel. In addition to the metal frame, you can also use wooden boards with a thickness of more than 5 cm. We secure the boards with 10-12 mm studs and tighten them with nuts. Wooden device It is much easier to manufacture than a metal unit, but a wooden structure is not able to withstand heavy loads. This press is quite suitable for small quantities of raw materials. After manufacturing, the frame should be sanded and then painted with a special metal paint.

Press tank:

  • For this design we use a cooking tank made of stainless steel with a volume of up to 50 liters.
  • We drill a hole in the bottom of the container and install a stainless steel tap.

Important! If there is no tank, an ordinary saucepan of a suitable size is quite suitable.

  • We insert a grate made of oak slats into the boiler container.
  • For blanks we use oak or parquet board, the height of which corresponds to the height of the pan.
  • At the ends of the slats along the edges we drill holes with a size of 2-3 mm, through which we stretch stainless wire or fishing line.
  • By connecting all the planks together we get a structure that resembles a basket.

Important! During the manufacturing process, it is necessary to ensure that there is a gap of 2-3 mm between the slats, through which the juice from the prepared fruit will pass.

The design can be made without a pan:

  • To do this, we connect the boards with galvanized steel boards and place the basket on a tray, which serves to drain the squeezed liquid.
  • Also, as a tray in a juice press with your own hands, you can use a plastic tray for a large flower pot or kitchen sink, made of stainless steel.
  • There is a design option in which the grape press is made like a frame without a basket. Between the drainage grids, the pulp from the used fruit is laid out in several layers of fabric and pressed until juice is formed.

Piston:

  1. Using a compass, draw a circle of the required diameter and use an electric jigsaw to cut out the remaining oak boards, folded crosswise.
  2. We twist the slats with stainless self-tapping screws or tie them together with stainless copper wire.

Important! You can also use a log, sawing off a circle of the required diameter and height.

Power mechanism

The apple processing press uses a screw or jack as a pressing mechanism.

Important! This design can also use a hydraulic car jack with a lifting capacity of 3 tons. For a better process, jacks are used that are capable of creating a force corresponding to 3 tons.

Every car enthusiast has a jack in his household, but a screw for a press is not so easy to find. It is necessary to cut planks for the jack, which will be used during the juice extraction procedure.

Filter cloth

To filter juice from apple fruits, you need to use a durable cloth that can allow moisture to pass through. The simplest option is to use a nylon sugar bag.

Important! For the filtration process, you can also use the following durable materials that can withstand heavy loads and not tear under pressure:

  • lavsan;
  • nylon;
  • propylene;
  • thick linen;
  • Durable cotton material.

Using a homemade press

A manual press for processing fruits with your own hands is ready for use, now let’s look at how the process of squeezing juice from prepared fruits occurs:

  • We insert the basket into the tank and place the appropriate filter material inside.

Important! Soft berries, fruits and citrus fruits do not require pre-treatment before the crushing procedure. Carrots, apples or other hard fruits require crushing in a crusher or using pulp from a juicer, after which they are loaded into a basket and covered with a lid.

  • We install the jack.
  • We substitute the receiving container.
  • Open the tap.
  • We begin to press slowly.

Important! There is no need to use force or try to squeeze out all the juice at once, as the filter fabric may tear or the frame may be damaged. You need to make 2-3 pumps, wait for a while, then do 2-3 pumps again, and slowly squeeze out the juice.

If you use one bucket of apple pulp from a juicer, the result will be about 3-4 liters of pure juice; if you use crushed mass, you will get a slightly larger yield of the finished product.

Steel wine press

In order to make such a seemingly simple mechanism, you must have the skills of turning and plumbing and have a welding machine.

How to make a steel grape press with your own hands:

  • From an unnecessary washing unit from a stainless steel tank, we independently cut out two versions of cylindrical containers without a bottom, having a diameter of 23 cm and 29 cm. The height of the blanks corresponds to 24 cm.
  • In the smaller cylinder we drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm in a checkerboard pattern.

Important! The inner container - a basket - is used to load grapes, and the outer one is used for juice.

  • Under the cylinders we place a rectangular stainless steel tray with dimensions of 30x50 cm, which has sides and a triangular bevel in the narrow part of the product.
  • We make a cutout in the outer cylinder to drain the juice.
  • A flange with a diameter of 21 cm plays the role of a punch, which is rigidly attached to the lower section of the rod with a rectangular or trapezoidal thread. For this purpose, you can use a screw from a water valve. At the top we weld a head to the flange, which has a hole for the lever, thanks to which the thrust mechanism will function.

Important! To reduce the pressure on the sides of the press, it is recommended to perforate the thrust flange with a 4 mm drill.

  • The nut, which is welded into the U-shaped frame, works together with the screw. The frame must be rigidly connected to the base; to do this, use screws to attach it to the table or concrete it into the floor.

Important! In order for the basket to be located in the central location of the outer container, bandage rings must be welded at the top and bottom of the basket.

Let's consider the process of functioning of a press for processing grapes made by yourself:

  1. Place grapes in the inner pan.
  2. Use the lever to tighten the screw.
  3. When the squeezing process begins, rotate the screw more slowly, while controlling the juice output.
  4. Unscrew the screw in reverse side when the grapes have finished pressing.

The manufactured structure can be used not only for processing grapes, but also for obtaining juice from apples and other fruits.

Important! To obtain maximum amount juice, the prepared raw materials must be crushed into crumbs or ground into a meat grinder. In napkins from durable material We wrap the prepared pulp, while the portions should not exceed 2 kg, the number of layers should be about three. They must be separated by drainage pads made of perforated stainless steel discs, which are welded in pairs and have a thickness of 2 mm. Between them there are thrust rings having a thickness of 4 mm.

Wooden apple press

The previous model is a reliable option, but it has some disadvantages. Yes, it is very difficult to welding process thin stainless material. In addition, special equipment and electrodes are required. You can simplify this design option by making your own basket from boards, and parquet boards may also be suitable.

In order to make a working mechanism with a capacity of 20 liters, you need to prepare 20 boards with dimensions 320x50x15 mm.

How to make a fruit press with your own hands from wood:

  • Using self-tapping screws, the boards are attached to two stainless steel strips of 0.5-1 mm. The distance between the boards should be 10-12 mm.
  • Then the strips are bent and their ends are connected with stainless bolts. The resulting basket measures 29 cm in diameter and 32 cm in height.
  • A wooden circle with a diameter of 27 cm serves as a punch.

Important! If you place planks under the screw, then it is not at all necessary to use a thrust flange.

  • At the bottom of the basket, along the entire contour, a drain gutter is laid out for the juice to exit.

Important! As a tray, you can use an ordinary plastic bowl, in which a hole is drilled into which a tube is inserted.

  • Apples are cut into small pieces, wrapped in gauze and placed in a basket. During the working cycle, about 3.5-4 liters of juice are produced.

Important! In order to increase the pressure of the press when the press is lowered, boards are laid between the layers.

  1. To make homemade juicer, instead of a screw, you can use a car jack, then you don’t need to look for a nut. But in this case it will be necessary to provide robust construction the base against which the device intended for lifting the car rests.
  2. The wooden frame press can operate without the use of a basket. Drainage grates and screw with nut are metal elements in this press, which are placed between packages with raw materials. In this case, the manufactured tray must have high sides to prevent juice from grapes and other berries from splashing on all sides.
  3. To reuse the bag wipes, rinse them thoroughly in water. If there was a long break between processing processes, the napkins need to be boiled.
  4. Berries and pulp should only be wrapped in a damp cloth to prevent the appearance of an unpleasant odor.
  5. The resulting pulp from pears and apples is thrown away; they do not have any special value. You can make fruit drinks and jelly from berry squeezes.
  6. After preparing the grape juice, the wooden basket must be thoroughly washed with an ordinary dishwasher brush, and then scalded with boiling water.
  7. Now you have several options and schemes to make a press for apples, grapes and other berries and fruits with your own hands. Choose the system for which you have everything you need necessary materials, skills, then no difficulties will arise, and you will be able to process your harvest with ease.

A large apple harvest sometimes becomes a problem for owners. The fruits cannot be stored for a long time; it is not always possible to sell them or prepare them for animal feed. The way out of the situation is homemade preparations in the form of jam and juices. It will be easier to prepare them if you use juicers and special homemade apple presses.

Juice presses are:

  • Mechanical,
  • Hydraulic,
  • Pneumatic,
  • Electrohydraulic.

Purchased models, regardless of type, cannot cope with large volumes of fruit.

Therefore, most gardeners prefer to make a household apple press with their own hands.

Each type has its pros and cons. Mechanical is less productive, but the easiest to manufacture. Hydraulic have more complex mechanism, but are capable of producing high-quality fruit puree. A pneumatic device requires a compressor, this affects the price of the device. But it is capable of processing a large volume of fruit in a short time.

The most effective are electro-hydraulic models.

They operate on a combination of electricity and hydraulics. A person's job is only to serve fruit. The disadvantage of the device is the high cost of spare parts.

Most models provide pressure on the apple mass from above, but the combined version has its own differences:

  • The screw device presses the mass from top to bottom,
  • Hydraulic jack - from bottom to top.

To make a juice press you need to consider the following points:

  • Juice container. You can use a tank or a large pan, and install a tap at the bottom to drain,
  • If a wooden barrel is used, it should be made of parquet slats,
  • If a housing is used washing machine, then it must be clean and sealed, free of rust and mold,
  • Apparatus body. The simplest option is a pyramid of wooden latticework.

To ensure uniform extraction of juice, finely chopped fruits are placed in clean bags or transferred with a soft cloth. If this is not done, the DIY juice press will leave wet pulp and a large number of waste. You can cut apples using an ordinary knife or a special chopper. The device can be purchased, but more often it is made independently and built into the pressing apparatus.

Homemade screw press

A properly assembled press can squeeze up to 70% of the juice from apples. The output remains dry pulp. The screw apparatus works by rotating large blades secured with nuts or jacks. The hydraulic jack design has greater performance and does not require the use of large physical strength. Before making a press you need to prepare:

  • Stanin,
  • Housing for storing raw materials,
  • Wooden gratings,
  • Pressure piston
  • Circle under the jack,
  • Work unit,
  • Tray or bowl.

For production, two are taken metal pipes, to which the profile is welded. Most often it is made in the form of a crossbar. A small hole is made in it, to which a threaded head is welded for installing a screw. A clamp is welded to the pipes or supporting structure. A handle for rotation is installed on top of the screw, and a stop at the bottom. It is a wooden or metal circle. The wooden body is made of boards about 5 mm thick, they are fastened with self-tapping screws with an anti-corrosion coating. The distance between the yards should not exceed 1 cm. The strips with the yards are bent in the form of a circle and fastened with bolts. A plastic basin with a hole for draining juice is used as a tray.

Option using a jack

It is more convenient to use jacks for cars weighing 2-3 thousand kg instead of a screw. A nut for fastening is no longer required here, but homemade press the jack makes it more powerful. The only difference in the assembly is a durable frame that can withstand pressure. The jack is installed both from below and from above - it depends on the user’s preferences.

When the apparatus is ready, apples are placed in the container, and the wooden circle. This will maintain the integrity of the structure at high pressure.

Average productivity - 1.75 liters of juice in 5 minutes.

How to make a hydraulic press

To make it you will need:

  • Grinder machine,
  • Welding machine,
  • Capacity 50-60 l,
  • Drill,
  • Metal pipes with a wall thickness of 0.3 cm,
  • Hydropress,
  • Durable oak yards.

How to make a hydraulic press: drill a hole at the bottom of the tank and install a tap to drain the juice. The container is inserted into a barrel assembled from boards or slats. The distance between them should not be less than 0.3 cm. It is recommended to fasten the barrel with galvanized steel. If a barrel without a casing is used, then it is placed on a pallet. It has a hole for draining juice.

The base - the metal frame - must be strong, since it bears the main pressure. It is made according to the same principle as for a screw press. A do-it-yourself hydraulic press will become more stable if you weld 2-3 metal cutting pipes.

A circle made of wood can serve as a piston. The diameter should be slightly smaller than that of the juice container. It is made from two oak boards, fastened with self-tapping screws. A circle of the same diameter made of stainless metal is usually used as a stop. A hydraulic device is installed on the stop.

An elastic barrel can also be used as a press. It connects to the water supply and will expand under the pressure of water. The press presses on the apples, resulting in the release of juice.

Homemade screw press

A screw press resembles a meat grinder. It works from electric motor, which rotates the pulley using a belt drive. Raw materials are loaded into the feed chamber, the auger crushes it and presses it through a sieve. At the output, the screw press produces juice with pulp.

For homemade this is the most difficult option. To assemble it, you will need drawings and diagrams, as well as:

  • Durable stainless steel housing
  • Screw press, which is placed inside the housing,
  • Capacity for receiving raw materials,
  • Container for prepared juice,
  • Electric motor giving from 1500 rpm.

The structure is assembled on a metal frame. As a housing, you can use a housing from a regular or electric meat grinder. A screw press is installed in it, which is attached to the engine using a drive. A sieve with the required cell diameter is mounted on the outlet hole. You can use jars, pans or basins as containers for the finished juice.

The screw press has greater productivity because it is driven not by manual force, but by an electric motor.

The productivity of such a machine is up to 7 liters of juice in 5 minutes.

If the trees in your country house bend during the season under the weight of fruits that require urgent processing, you should take care of having a juicer. This problem also arises among winemakers, among whom there are no people willing to process the berries manually. It is quite possible to make a juice press yourself, eliminating additional expenses for purchasing equipment, which is quite expensive today.

Operating principle

Screw type can be made using different technologies; in this process, parts such as old containers, tanks from washing machines, as well as pots and boards are used. In some cases, structures are made using a jack. If we are talking about a traditional device for obtaining juice, then the device provides the following constituent elements: thrust mechanism, basket, pressing element, as well as base. The basket should be placed on the base, with a tray underneath for receiving juice. The last of these elements provides a gutter, under which a sap receiver is installed.

Making a press yourself

Initially, you will need to prepare the base and frame, which are made from metal profile. To make a juice press, you will need to form the upper part of the frame, which should be positioned horizontally. For this element, the most durable and rigid profile with thick walls is selected. This will prevent the components from bending under load. A sheet of plywood is laid on the base, on which the tank and tray are installed. In order to prevent frame corrosion, it is necessary to cover the surface with a layer of paint. As for plywood, it is treated with varnish.

Pallet preparation

If you decide to make a juice press yourself, then you will need to prepare a tray; the element of the same name from the pot can serve as it large diameter. All you need to do is cut a hole in the side and glue a plastic tube into it, with the help of which the juice will flow into the receiver. When working with a pallet, you need to act very carefully, since the product can easily break if it is accidentally caught or something is dropped on its surface. This also applies to operation, since the tube can be torn out due to negligence. In order not to worry about this, it is best to use a tray made of stainless steel.

Making a tank

A juice press must have a tank, which can be made by a craftsman from galvanized steel. When choosing a material, you should stock up on planed pine beams; it should not be glued; you can easily find such lumber in any hardware store. The tank will be made of timber, the cross-section of which should be 20x40 millimeters. Clearance between elements of this product should not be more than 5 millimeters. Due to the fact that wood contains essential oils, as well as resins and glycosides, as a material for the tank it is best to use indifferent biological material of the type natural wood, it could be birch, beech, or oak. As for pine, it is usually not used when making a manual juice press. This is due to the fact that the material contains resins, the content of which can somewhat affect the taste of the juice.

Making a piston

When making a juice press with your own hands, you will need to make a square from two layers of boards, which should be located perpendicular to each other. In this case, self-tapping screws should be used as fasteners. The resulting square will allow you to get a piston, and you will need to use electric jigsaw. It is important to make an element that fits in diameter. The pistons should be rounded with a file, which will make it easier to install the elements in the tank. The piston is also made from biologically pure wood such as beech, birch or oak.

Work on the power element of the device

If you are making it for juice, then you can use a screw as a power element. A jack will also do. In order to obtain juice, it will be sufficient and which is capable of creating a force equivalent to two tons. Among other things, you should cut the planks that are placed under the jack; this requirement is explained by the fact that the piston stroke will not be enough for the height of the tank; the jack handle will rest against the edge of the barrel.

When making a screw manual juice press, you can use a traditional galvanized pin for the screw. A handle and a nut are welded to it, the latter of which will turn the screw. To filter the juice, you should use enough durable fabric, which has a fine mesh. Polyester or lavsan are perfect.

Making a metal press

When making a juice press with your own hands, you can take as a basis steel structure. To do this, the master will need to have skills in turning or plumbing, and also have available and be able to operate a welding machine. It is based stainless steel tank, borrowed from an old washing machine. Two cylindrical containers without a bottom are made from it. The diameter of these products should be 23 and 29 centimeters, and the height will be the same, equivalent to 24 centimeters. In a smaller diameter cylinder you need to make holes, arranging them in a checkerboard pattern. Their diameter should be 8 millimeters. The inner container, which will become the basket, is necessary for loading fruits, while the outer one is for juice.

When making a juice press, it is important to place a rectangular tray under the cylinders, which is made of stainless steel and has dimensions of 30x50 centimeters. The sides of the tray must have a triangular bevel, which is necessary for draining the juice. A 21 mm flange will act as a poisson. Its fixation must be rigid; it must be installed on the lower part of the rod.

If you decide to make a press for squeezing juice yourself, then you need to weld a head with a hole that is necessary for the lever to the top of the poisson. Using the last element, the thrust mechanism will be activated. A nut will work in tandem with the screw, which is installed on the U-shaped frame. The latter is fixed to the base; if necessary, it can be concreted into the floor or fixed to the table with screws.

Key secrets

If you use it when making a juice press, you will not have to grind out the nut, but you need to ensure that the base is strong enough. It is against this that the mechanism that is designed to lift the car will rest. Using wooden press frame type, it will be possible to operate the device without a basket. The steel element in it will be a screw with a nut and gratings that are placed between bags of raw materials.
