What is a catamaran? These are two floats, and on top is a platform. To connect the floats into one, you need to weld a rigid metal frame (Fig. 1). This frame uses 336 bottles, 168 bottles per float, which are distributed into 14 bottles in 12 sections.

336 bottles x 1.5 = 504 kg (this is the possible load on the catamaran), where 1.5 is the weight of the load that one bottle can hold. Of course, these parameters can be changed depending on which design you choose for yourself.

In Fig. 1 shows: 1 - racks made of pipes d = 1/2″, 60 cm long, 6 pcs. They serve for fastening the floats, as well as for attaching the deck to them; 2 - corner 30×30 mm for attaching the deck; 3 - corner 25 x 25 mm for attaching the racks, and also so that when the catamaran moves on the ground, it does not damage the slats of the bottom of the float with which the bottles are lined. True, here you may encounter another problem: this corner can catch algae when the catamaran moves through the water.

Now we need to define the float configuration. To do this you need to cut 14 pieces. circles from cardboard d = d bottles and arrange them differently in sections on the table. The most reasonable design of the float in Fig. 2. Here, too, everything depends on your taste and desire. The bottles can be folded flat, forming a kind of skis, or they can be arranged in a triangle, etc. Now, knowing the location of the bottles in the float, we cut out a template from cardboard and cut out 10 boards measuring 43 x 27 cm using it. 6 pcs. will be mounted on the frame risers, 4 pcs. - outside. To attach the boards to each rack, you need to weld a strip of iron 20 cm long.

In Fig. 3: 1 - stand; 2 - corner 30 x 30 mm, for attaching the deck; 3 - corner 25 x 25 mm - lower belt; 4 - a plate for attaching a board 43 x 27 cm, which serves as the base of the float and to which the sheathing slats will be nailed.

Thus, the float is located in the middle of the frame post. All material, especially wood, must be well treated with water-repellent agents.

In Fig. Figure 4 shows how boards measuring 43 x 27 cm will be attached to the frame posts: 1 - corner 30 x 30 mm - for attaching the deck; 2 - racks d = 1/2″ for supporting the deck and for attaching boards 27 x 43 cm, on which the float bottles will then be sheathed with slats; 3 - board 43 x 27 cm; 4 - plate welded to the stand onto which a board 43 x 27 cm is nailed; 5 - corner 25 x 25 mm for attaching racks.

Now that we have disassembled all the components, let's try to depict what it will all look like. In Fig. 5 diagram of the frame on which boards 27 x 43 cm are fixed, and 1.5 liter bottles covered with slats are fixed to them.

1 - corner 30 x 30 cm for attaching the deck; 2- racks d = 1/2″, on which boards 27 x 43 cm are attached; 3 - corner 25 x 25 mm - lower belt to which the racks are attached and which protects the casing from damage from below; 4 - boards 43 x 47 cm, on which the float is covered with slats; 5 - boards 27 x 43 cm, which are attached to the end of the float, since on the right and left one section with bottles (14 pcs.) is located outside the frame.

Now let's figure out what it will look like after covering. In Fig. 6: 1 - corner 30 x 30 mm for attaching the deck; 2 - 1/2″ stand on which a 43×27 cm board is attached for covering the float with slats; 3 - sheathed float.

And lastly: judging by the frame, the deck area will be 3.4 x 2 = 6.8 m². But if the catamaran shows good performance, then the deck can be made wider by adding 20 cm on each side using a removable board. Blades with bicycle pedals are suitable as a drive. On the deck, you can install a light sun awning and make a fence from aluminum tubes, which are inserted into pre-prepared sockets through which you can pass a clothesline.

Such a catamaran will be an excellent “vacation home” for a family of 2-3 people on Saturdays and Sundays.

Plastic bottles are universal material for crafts. You can make them out of them original decor For personal plot, toys for children, as well as many useful accessories for the home. In this article we have collected for you several ideas on what you can do with your own hands from plastic bottles.

DIY toys made from plastic bottles

Materials:

- bottles;
- awl;
- scissors;
- scotch;
- PVA;
- paints;
- brush.

Take two identical half-liter bottles and in the center of each draw an oval 5 cm wide and 10-15 long. The oval must be cut out and there should be a hole in which the doll can then be placed.

Now connect the two bottles tightly with tape. The catamaran is ready!

Children love to play with water, especially in summer time. From an ordinary plastic bottle you can make a toy that will help you perform tricks with water and will be an interesting entertainment on the beach or in the country.

Using an awl, make holes in a circle in the center or at the very bottom of the bottle. To make the bottle seem more attractive, cover it with colored electrical tape.

Now you can draw water, but you need to close the holes well with your hand so that it does not spill out. Screw the lid on and you will be surprised that the water does not spill out, even though there are holes in the bottle. Start to open the bottle slightly and water will flow out of the holes like a fountain. The secret is simple: when you open the bottle, air begins to displace water, and it pours out through the holes. This fountain can be used at the dacha or during outdoor recreation as a washstand.

Crafts from plastic bottles: papier-mâché toys

Plastic bottles can be a good base for various crafts. Cut paper or newspapers into small pieces. Separately, prepare a solution for papier-mâché (dilute PVA with water in a 1:1 ratio). Now the paper needs to be dipped into the solution and placed on the bottle. Cover the bottle in 5-6 layers and wait until dry. After this, make additional parts from cardboard, for example, wings for an airplane, legs for a cow or other animal. Glue all the parts onto the bottle and cover it with white paint. After this, you can paint the craft in any other color.

Don’t be afraid to get creative and cut bottles, because you can get original fish, crocodiles, cats and hares that will decorate the interior of an apartment or the exterior of a country house.

DIY bottle vases

Not every apartment has a suitable flower vase, so we suggest you make one from bottles. The easiest way is to cut off the neck and then lightly melt the remaining part. To make the rim of the vase neat, place a sheet of white paper on top and run a hot iron over it.

For tall flowers, you can use the neck of the bottle as a holder and original decoration simultaneously. If you think that a bottle vase looks cheap, sew a felt cover for it.

A plastic bottle melts quickly, so you can hold it over the fire for a little while and give it its original shape. After that, make many small holes in the upper part with a soldering iron or a hot needle.

Flowers from plastic bottles for the garden

Today you can find many master classes on how to make flowers from foamiran, cold porcelain, felt or clay. However, the easiest and cheapest way is to make flowers from plastic bottles, which will become a creative decoration.

Take a green bottle and cut a strip out of it in a circle. Light a candle and carefully begin to melt and twist the strip. There should be stems. Now cut a flower with 3-4 petals from the bottle. The edges of this flower need to be slightly melted with a candle. Separately, make stamens from the bottle and combine the flowers with the stem into a beautiful composition.

Jewelry boxes made from plastic bottles

A box is an essential accessory for every girl, because thanks to this item you can keep your jewelry and cosmetics in order. If you have two identical plastic bottles and a snake at home, you can easily make the box yourself.

Cut off the bottom parts of the bottles. Start sewing a snake to one of them in a circle, and then sew the second part to the zipper. Make neat stitches and preferably with a thread of a contrasting color so that the craft turns out beautiful.

DIY decorations from plastic bottles

Products self made is in fashion today, so we invite you to try making your own jewelry from bottles. To make the necklace original, cut a thin spiral from a bottle.

After this, take a candle or a hot hair dryer and begin to melt the spiral, gradually twisting it. After this, you can string the beads onto the resulting tube and secure the ends.

There are a lot of ideas for decorations, the main thing is a sufficient number of bottles and imagination!

While on vacation I came across a raft made of bottles for a motor. I decided to take a photo for the website. In general, it seemed to me that this design is more intended for entertainment. Probably, such a raft-boat can be used for fishing on the lake or in old towns.

How to make a raft from large plastic bottles

It can also be classified as a boat made of plastic bottles. For the raft, large bottles, or rather carboys, were used - ten-liter ones. The ideas of this design are also suitable for making a raft from plastic barrels and in the manufacture of a catamaran from plastic bottles. The layout is almost like a catamaran.

The basis of the design is two pontoons made of bottles. Each pontoon includes:

  • top board
  • bottom board
  • four blocks, each of three plastic bottles.

The bottles are first twisted with tape together, and then with tape and rubber reinforcing tape they are screwed to the top and bottom boards. . As you can see in the photo below, one cattle is not reliable and rubs against the bottom.

The bottom of the raft is made of boards, to which four pontoons are nailed and screwed, two large ones at the edges, one inside, and one at the bow of the raft.

The deck of the raft is made of waterproof OSB boards. There should be a waterproof OSB-3 board. The sides of the fence are made of pipes, the posts of the fence are screwed to the slab with self-tapping screws. I tried this - the design of the fence is not reliable, the posts are wobbly.

Attaching the motor to the raft

The motor is attached to a bottle raft. To do this on metal corners a board is attached to which the motor is attached, and the corners are nailed to the bottom and deck boards.

Catamaran made from plastic bottles.

What I liked most was how the pontoons were made. You can make a good catamaran from such pontoons; if, for example, you take three of these pontoons and spread them three meters wide, you should get a stable structure.

You need to understand that everyone has their own sources of materials. Be the first to find bottles or carboys suitable for the raft, and then select a suitable design and other materials.

Some readers believe that we are in vain publishing “all sorts of nonsense”, such as articles about boats made of bottles, canoes made of roofing iron or rafts of woven branches with a canvas shell. The editors have somewhat reduced the number of such publications, but do not intend to stop them. In our opinion, the use of improvised means unknown to the classics of shipbuilding is as natural and worthy of support as a manifestation of technical creativity as independent design boats or yachts for an amateur with an abundance of specialized companies. It is important that what comes out is safe and convenient for use in specific conditions, well known to the creator of the outlandish watercraft!

It is worth adding that the author is a graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Water Transport and a former member of the Baltiets Marine Corps, and is by no means a novice shipbuilder: he took part in the construction of about a dozen boats - from plywood “soap boxes” to serious structures with stainless steel sheathing.

Unlike previously known boats made from plastic bottles, we inflated bottles compressed air, which provides them with the necessary rigidity. Preliminary two-week tests carried out under a constant load of 150 kgf showed that depressurization does not occur, bottle caps calmly hold air pressure. Operation of the finished catamaran showed that there is no danger of spontaneous depressurization of bottles in a wide temperature range.

The easiest way to inflate bottles is to use the temperature difference freezer refrigerator (-18°C) and operating temperature (2...25°C), but it is much more efficient to work from the factory compressed air line. Using a simple head wrapped in an air valve, compressed air is supplied to the bottle while screwing on the cap. The bottles are pre-connected in pairs: the protrusions of the bottom of one are inserted into the depressions of the bottom of the other; For connection, a coupling cut from the cylindrical part of the bottle is used. Caps cut from cylindrical parts with bottoms are placed on the ends of the assembled bottles.

The pairs are collected into a “log” of the required length. The joints are first wrapped with waterproof tape 50 mm wide, then with simple stationery tape in two turns. The bow lift of the “log” is ensured by joining the end pairs at a slight angle.

To obtain the required displacement with a minimum amount of work, bottles of the largest possible volume are needed; the best turned out to be a bottle of Ochakov beer with a capacity of 2.25 liters, a diameter of 104 mm, a length of 355 mm; The weight of such a bottle is 60 g.

After comparison various options a catamaran with a length of 3.5 m and a width of 1.5 m was assembled. Each “log” consists of five docked pairs of bottles, its volume is about 30 liters, and its weight is 1.2 kg. The “logs” of each of the two floats are tied to a “stringer” - a 3.5-meter top cover made of three-layer plywood and tied together with a nylon tape 25 mm wide.

The simplest version of a float connection is a triangle. Each float consists of eight “logs” and weighs 15 kg. Two multilayer plywood pads are glued to the stringer to secure the cross beams. Transverse and longitudinal beams cut from duralumin tubes 35x2.5 mm. Along the floats there are ribbons made of waterproof fabric with boards sewn to them - supports for the feet. To the back cross beam A transom glued together from plywood is attached to the clamps for installing an outboard motor. The assembled bridge weight is 16 kg.

Over the summer of last year, we managed to spend about a hundred hours on a catamaran, intended mainly for fishing with wires. We are convinced that this is a reliable and safe watercraft: 160 bottles with a total volume of about 360 liters provide the necessary buoyancy reserve. There were no destruction of logs or cuts of bottles. Despite the small wall thickness (0.27 mm), the bottles showed virtually no wear during navigation.

The catamaran design and sufficient length of the boat provide excellent lateral and longitudinal stability, you feel confident in it. The catamaran sails easily under the Salyut and with oars. It takes 15 minutes to assemble.

Transporting a catamaran on a Zhiguli is no problem.

With patience, anyone can build such a boat. Using a plastic bottle inflated with compressed air as structural element rigidity opens up wide scope for creativity.

It remains to add that in addition to the author, N.V. took part in the construction and testing of the catamaran. and V.B. Tarletsky, B.T. Korobitsin and O.V. Zhurbenko.

My name is Artem. How did I make a catamaran out of bottles?

Let me start with the fact that my whole family has been going to the Black Sea for many years and living there in tents. For the last few trips every summer, I have been making crafts from improvised materials. sailing boats the size of a person, but, interestingly, not for a person.

It was only in the penultimate year that I decided to create something big, just for fun. I had no specific goal to build a large sailing catamaran that could support an adult. And I certainly didn’t plan to conquer the sea on it.

First, I found the longest boards in the area, nailed them together, then collected plastic bottles and attached a small amount of them to the very ends of the boards. My little brothers were delighted with what was happening, and I took one of them with me to the first tests. In general, there were enough bottles for its weight, but the carrying capacity was still relatively small. By comparison, now the sailboat’s carrying capacity is already 120 kg.

As I found bottles, I added them under the hull, and the three of us rode on a catamaran on the sea with my brothers, but without a mast and sail, we also used homemade oars. Days passed, and I thought about a mast and a sail, but then I had no idea where to get the materials for them. But one fine day, after several days of a storm, on a nearby beach I found a huge black and white, rather dense film. I immediately understood how it could be used.

But the problem remained - the lack of a mast and boom. Then the idea came to my mind to go to the nearest bamboo forest to get required material. I took all the measurements and cut out the mainsail from the film (I had to cut it into two parts and then sew it together).

The first tests were successful, but my catamaran had very modest sailing and navigation characteristics; I could only sail in the wind, although I was still able to steer with the sail (there was no steering fin). In general, it was great to go to our beach.

This is the state in which my catamaran remained for the winter. I folded the mast and took the disassembled ship to local residents I knew. It was very difficult to drag him - his friends lived on high mountain- but I didn’t want to give up my invention: not a single boat lived to see the summer.

Arriving at next summer, we went up to see if the catamaran was still there, and saw next to it a huge tree uprooted by a strong hurricane. A tree trunk fell on the mast and broke off almost a meter from it. But it was not difficult for me to bandage the stretch marks.

This summer we had a great time on a catamaran, just like last year, until our tent neighbor began to advise me to improve the boat so that it could sail against the wind.

I, being a conservative person, had no idea how to pull all this off. In the end, his materials and determination, based on my knowledge, yielded results - I now have two centerboards and a rudder on my catamaran!

Then I felt something completely unusual! It was a feeling of happiness, I could walk on the sea anywhere! Since the speed was still not enough, it was decided to build a jib. To do this, I used a huge film that we used to cover our 6-meter tent. After installing the jib, crazy speed appeared on the scale of a bottle boat, and I was incredibly happy!

The first record was not long in coming - in 2 hours 44 minutes I managed to walk 5 km 360 meters!!!))) record!!!)))

For me it was completely crazy, some kind of unrealistic record, which I didn’t even try to achieve initially. I never dreamed of it.
