The pear pouf has at least one undeniable attractive quality: if you get tired of the color, you can always change it. The thing is, it's soft frameless chair consists of an inner case with filling and an outer beautiful shell case with a zipper. But most importantly, sew such a pouf with your own hands won't be a big deal.

Pouf pattern - Click to enlarge

Step 1. Cut out the pattern on paper for our pouf

It is enough to cut out on paper one wedge-shaped part and one “bottom” part ( round shape). But in order to save fabric, the “bottom” is divided into 4 parts. And you can see in Figure 2 how to place all the parts on a piece of fabric 1.4 meters by 2.5 meters.

Step 2. Transfer the pattern to the fabric and cut out the details of the pear pouf

Carefully lay out the pouf pattern pieces on the fabric. Trace with chalk. Do not forget about the fabric allowances at the edges of the parts - approximately 1-1.5 cm.

The inner case will have the same dimensions as the outer case.

Step 3. Sew together the details of the outer and outer cover of the pear pouf

We sew the cut fabric parts together one by one. First, two wedge-shaped pieces, then sew on all the rest. Don't forget to leave room for the zipper.

The inner case has the same dimensions as the outer case, so we follow the same procedure. A zipper for the inner case will be redundant, but you need to leave a hole for filling with balls.

Step 4. Fill the inner case with balls.

It’s easier to make a funnel-shaped device out of paper and pour the balls inside the cover. After that, we either sew the hole or close the zipper.

As a matter of fact, our puff pear almost ready. We put on the outer beautiful cover, close the zipper on it and try to sit down.

And here you can see how it is sewn.

Modern people They value their own coziness and comfort. They do not want to clutter their apartments with inconvenient and large-sized interior items. Therefore, frameless furniture is now at the peak of popularity. It is lightweight, provides the necessary level of convenience, and can be placed even in small room. One of prominent representatives Such interior decoration is the pear chair.

Picture 1. Frameless pear chair has become popular because it is convenient, does not take up much space and looks original.

As a rule, such furniture, made in a factory, is not cheap. But even a novice craftswoman can make it herself. This does not require any special skills or expensive materials.

Materials and tools

In order to sew a chair, you must first prepare the materials and tools that you will need for your work. These include:

Figure 2. An example of a finished pattern with dimensions.

  • paper for making patterns (tracing paper or graph paper);
  • fabric for covers;
  • 2 zippers (length 45 and 65 cm);
  • filler;
  • sewing machine;
  • sewing supplies (needles, pins, zipper foot, thread);
  • measuring instruments (centimeter tape, ruler).

The chair bag consists of 2 covers, internal and external. His appearance shown in Fig. 1.

For the inner part of the chair, you need to choose a dense and sufficiently durable fabric. Otherwise, the filling may come out and the chair will become an inexhaustible source of garbage in your room. The choice of fabric for the outer cover depends entirely on your tastes, preferences and general design interior It can be furniture materials, such as tapestry or velor. Faux fur and velvet look good. For children's room will suit a bright armchair decorated with bright patterns.

When choosing a material, it is worth remembering that the bag chair is located on the floor. Therefore, you should give preference to non-staining, easy-to-care fabrics or sew spare covers. For a product intended for an adult, you will need approximately 3.5-4 m of each type of material. It is worth considering that the outer case should be slightly larger than the inner one.

Foamed foam is suitable as a filler for the chair. It will need approximately 0.25 m2. When choosing and purchasing material, it is worth remembering that it is sold in very large packages (about 0.5 m2 each). Therefore, it is wiser to order delivery of the filler.

Making a pattern

The pattern for the chair consists of the following parts:

Figure 3. Layout of the pattern on the fabric

  • wedges - 6 pcs.;
  • top part - 1 pc.;
  • middle base piece - 1 pc.;
  • side elements of the base - 2 pcs.

An example of a finished pattern with all the necessary dimensions is shown in Fig. 2.

First you need to prepare a pattern for the wedges (since they are the same). In the example diagram, the height of the parts is 1200 mm, and the width of the bottom is 450 cm. The width of the upper part should coincide with the length of the side of the hexagon, which represents the “lid”, that is, in this case this is 210 mm.

To make the bag chair symmetrical, the pattern can be made in half. Only one part of the part is constructed on paper (the element seems to be cut lengthwise), and the left and right sides are alternately outlined on the fabric.

The bottom consists of 4 parts. It is necessary to prepare a pattern for the upper and middle parts of the bottom. Moreover, 2 separate upper parts are cut out (in a mirror image). But the middle part can be cut as 1 element (first the left and then the right part).

We conjugate all marked points arbitrarily, connecting them one by one with a smooth line.

Fabric cutting and sewing

The chair bag should be sewn sequentially. That is, first cut out the inner cover and only then take on the outer one. This way you won’t get confused in the preparations.

Lay the fabric on the floor, wrong side up. Lay out all the pattern pieces. An approximate diagram of their location is shown in Fig. 3.

When planning your cut, don't forget about seam allowances.

Since they will all be inside the product, they can be made equal to 1.5-2 cm. Next, all the details of the pattern need to be outlined. To do this, use a piece of chalk or dry soap. Do not forget that some elements need to be turned over and drawn in a mirror manner.

If you have a good eye, then the wedges that make up the chair bag do not have to be cut out separately. You can fold the fabric 6 times and cut it with equal allowances. To prevent the pattern from moving, pin it with pins.

When cutting the top cover, pay attention to the direction of the grain thread and the fabric pile. Turn the pattern over different directions This is impossible, otherwise the product will turn out deformed, and the pattern of the material will be located in different directions. Then your bag chair will look sloppy.

To sew a chair, you will need only 3-4 hours. First, the parts of the inner cover are ground off. The wedge parts are chipped in pairs, outside inside, and grind down. It is necessary to leave a gap in one of the seams for sewing in a zipper.

Then the bottom of the bag is formed and stitched to the base. The last thing you need to do is fix the “lid”. Ready product is turned inside out and the clasp is sewn in. The most convenient way to do this is with a special foot for sewing machines. The top cover is made in the same way.

To finalize the product, you need to fill the inner case with filler. It does not need to be compacted or laid too tightly. The bag chair should be soft and easily take the shape of the human body. If desired, the product can be decorated. Beautiful braid, fringe, tassels and the like are suitable for this. Baby chair decorated with sewn appliqués, embroidery or small soft toys.

Selecting material for the case

Before you sew a bag chair with your own hands, you need to decide what fabric will be used for this process. The structure consists of elements:

  • outer cover, which must be stain-resistant, durable, dense and attractive;
  • inner cover made of durable, breathable and reliable materials;
  • filler, and it is important to first decide what the chair will be filled with.

Initially, it is decided what fabric will be used for the bean bag chairs. For external product can choose different types fabrics. It is important that they have the following parameters:

  • high strength and abrasion resistance;
  • ease of maintenance, since the outer cover is most often exposed to various influences, and there is also a high probability of contaminating it;
  • attractiveness, since this cover determines how the entire chair will look.

An excellent choice is Oxford fabric, which is used to form awnings or tents. It is durable and easy to maintain, making it perfect for the job you plan to do. As a rule, it is impregnated during production special compounds, making it resistant to moisture. It is available in numerous colors, so you can choose the best option for the job. Bag chairs, the sizes of which can be different, made from this fabric, can be used not only in residential premises, but also outdoors.

The inner cover of bean bag chairs is usually formed from dense spunbond. It is advisable to choose a type that is equipped with small holes designed for ventilation of the product. The material is low in cost, so it is considered an excellent choice for creating an internal cover. As a rule, it is sold in rolls.

If it is not possible to choose spunbond, then any other fabric that is dense and breathable will do. If ventilation is not provided internal space, then the filler will begin to quickly stick together, so its shape and its parameters change.

  • a lot of fabric, both for the inner and outer covers;
  • to obtain sealed cases, purchase two zippers of the optimal size;
  • scissors will ensure cutting out the necessary elements from the fabric;
  • threads are intended for fastening individual parts designs;
  • sewing machine facilitates the work process and also ensures smooth, beautiful and durable stitches;

It is easy to form on your own, and you can also see different types of patterns below. As a rule, they are all identical, but may differ in the size of the beanbag chair.

The whole process is divided into the following stages:

  • patterns are made, and it is desirable that they initially have the required dimensions, which will subsequently affect the dimensions of the chair bag;
  • the result is 4 main elements, with the help of which the bag chair is created;
  • An economical option involves applying the pattern to the fabric itself, after which the necessary elements are cut out.

Patterns for bean bag chairs can be different, since they completely depend on what dimensions and other parameters the product will have after work. When creating the main parts of the product, it is important to monitor the economical use of fabric.

Sewing a cover

After creating the cutting for both covers, their sewing begins. To do this, it is important to decide in advance what the dimensions of the chair bag will be. The process is performed in the following sequence of actions:

  • two flat blanks are created. To do this, all elements are fastened to each other with pins, after which the side seams should be basted on the wedges;
  • the formed side seams are connected with a sewing machine or by hand, after which they are smoothed, for which it is advisable to use an iron equipped with a steam mode;

Before you start stitching the parts, fasten them with needles
  • the side seams are sewn on the front side of the outer cover;
  • On both workpieces, the outer wedges are folded, after which they are basted. When working with an outer cover, the remaining side seams are sewn from the bottom and top, and it is important to leave approximately 40 cm on either side, and this distance is necessary for sewing in the zipper. The same steps are performed for the inner cover, but no more than 35 cm is left for the zipper. All seams obtained are ironed;

All seams must be overlocked
  • For the remaining unstitched sections, zippers are pinned or basted. Their middle should be in the center of the pressed seam. After adjustment, the zippers are sewn in;
  • as a result of the actions performed, the seams of the bag will be tubular irregular shape, which taper slightly at the top;

How to sew a zipper correctly
After the wedges are sewn together, you will get the following base:
  • The handle of the future chair is made, for which the prepared part is folded, and only inside out. It is stitched in a place where there is a long edge. Then he turns inside out front part and ironed;
  • The existing blanks of both covers are turned inside out. A top is sewn to the outer cover, which is basted to the outer pipe, after which the handle is inserted;

For ease of use, zippers should be sewn into the bags.
  • The bottom of both covers is ground off, and the resulting circles are attached. After the work is completed, the covers are turned right side out.
External chair cover

After creating the covers, it is important to decide what will be filled with internal element. The selected filler is loaded into the product in such a way as to completely fill it. To do this, the inner cover is inserted into the outer one, and then stuffed with the selected material. After creating a beanbag chair, a pillow or other similar elements are often made that ensure the comfort of using the product.

Filler selection

Before creation of this product it is important to decide what it will be filled with. Most often, granules formed from polystyrene foam are chosen for these purposes. They are represented by small balls with high hygienic parameters. They do not absorb foreign odors. At the same time they have excellent thermal insulation properties. The price of the material is affordable.

In addition to polystyrene foam, the following fillers can be used:

  • wood shavings;
  • down, feathers or wool;
  • different types of cereals.

Video

From the video you will learn how to properly sew a chair bag.

Photos of beanbag chairs with your own hands

In the selection you can see what the finished products look like.

In order to sew a chair bag you will need about 4.6 m of dense and lining fabric, 2 zippers no shorter than 56 cm, as well as polystyrene or other granules of at least 1.8 cubic meters.

Pear chair pattern, more precisely, one of the six segments of the bag is shown in the diagram, one with adult sizes, the other reduced in size for the convenience of the child. In order to simplify the calculations, you can use graph paper or other squared paper; on such material you can easily transfer the diagram only if the scale is observed.

As a result, the pattern for an adult chair will have the following dimensions: length 105 cm, maximum width 54 cm.

To create the top of the chair, fold the paper in half and then make a mark in the middle of the fold line. Next, you need to draw a circle with a radius of 14 cm.

To create a pattern for the base of the chair, as when creating a drawing for the top, you can use paper folded in half, but a circle should be drawn with a radius of at least 30.5 cm. Next, the resulting circle should be expanded and, stepping back 1.3 cm from the fold line, draw 1.3 cm parallel line. After which the circle is cut along this line, and the pattern of the base will be the smaller part of the circle.

As a result of cutting you should have:
- six wedges made of fabric for the cover and the same number cut from lining fabric;
- one upper part of lining fabric and one of fabric for the cover;
- two parts of the base, cut from fabric for the cover, and also two from lining fabric.

How to sew a chair bag- the answer to this question is quite simple! First, you need to sew the base parts together, and insert a zipper between the two base parts. Next, you should connect the side wedges together with the right sides inward. When all the parts are connected to each other, the product must be ironed, not forgetting to carefully smooth the seams. After which the bag can be filled with polystyrene or other granules.

There you have it, a beautiful hand-sewn pear-bag chair!

Happy sewing!

Furniture can be different: upholstered and framed, beautiful and comfortable, necessary and loved, white and red... And sometimes also frameless. For the first time we saw cool unusual chairs in the program “Comedy Clab”. Previously, such baggy furniture was not striking. But thanks to the popular TV show, everyone became envious and urgently wanted the same ones for themselves!

By now I have sewn quite a few of these bags myself. And then we looked everywhere, where possible, for at least one, to rip it open, and see what was inside there after all! A real odyssey about twelve chairs! We filled the cases that we designed ourselves with everything! Sintepon, pieces of foam rubber, wool... everything was wrong! It seems to be soft, but this characteristic elastic and lively effect is not there!

A whole year passed until it was no coincidence that friends who came from Italy discovered such a chair. It was so beautiful, huge and silver that my hand couldn’t raise it to cut it. Yes, this was not necessary. The cover, it turns out, has a zipper. And inside there is another case. And in that case there are tiny peas. What would you think, of course, foam! Darkness and darkness of cute white balls. Who would have guessed that they simply have an unbearable character? But more on that later.

DIY frameless furniture is incredibly convenient, comfortable and beautiful. After sitting and lying on such a chair, we can greatly relax our back, and our entire body. Children and animals simply adore these stunning chairs. And it all started with a curiosity. And, of course, in the birthplace of design - Italy. In the sixties of the twentieth century, young designers Cesare Paolini, Franco Teodoro and Piero Gatti came up with a punk movement called “Anti-design”.

The guys created absolutely crazy furniture. Including chairs without frames. In transparent bags PVC fabrics colored water was poured. These works resembled huge bags of kefir. Such furniture at design exhibitions looked very scandalous, of course. But I just looked. It was impossible to operate it. The water itself is very heavy, and the fabric simply tore under its weight.

But Italy is the birthplace not only of artists, but also of adventurers. Industrialist Aurelio Zanotta had business sense. He liked the crazy idea, and after thinking about it, he made his own changes, which made the bags practical armchairs. Aurelio replaced PVC with durable fabric, and water with polyvinyl chloride foam balls. And already in 1968, his newly founded company “Zanotta” launched drop bags for sale hot pink color, weightless and incredibly comfortable.

Сonfortevole da morire, as the Italians like to say, “deadly comfortable.” These chairs were called “Sacco” - a bag. Incredible pink bags immediately won many awards at exhibitions, the largest museums in the world such as MoMA, Metropolitan, and many others. The brilliant Aurelio became rich, and the Zanotta factory still produces frameless furniture, which sells all over the world with a bang. Like all the other beautiful furniture they produce. By the way, the world’s first inflatable chair “Blow” was also born at this factory.

In 2008, the Zanotta factory celebrated its fortieth anniversary. A collection of hand-painted Saccos was released for the holiday famous artists and designers. She was destined trip around the world and then sold at auction. The French channel Arte made a whole film dedicated to ageless bags. These are the consequences of the friendship of three young designers! By the way, I never found out what their further fate was.

So wonderful bright mattresses carry the energy of blossoming and breakthrough. Why don't we have these? The original costs about 600 euros. Native Ukrainian fake - more than a thousand hryvnia. But wait! Italians are not all so brilliant and handy. For the most part, they do not like to tinker with anything (let alone, by the way, repair and repair) with their own hands. They prefer to earn and buy. Otherwise the world would be overpopulated with Mikkelangelos and Leonard Davincis.

But we are different! We were given golden hands from birth! Our craftswomen figured out a long time ago how to make such charming furniture at home. Of all the tools you need, the only thing you need is a sewing machine. Don't need any hammers, drills, any outside help. You can easily build one chair in one evening. After a week of work, DIY frameless furniture will be a wonderful gift for all relatives and friends.

Now we will decide on the model and get started. To date, such frameless furniture models:

This beauty also varies in size: for adults and children, larger and smaller. But there are no strict standards. The sewing principle is the same for everyone. The only difference is in the pattern of the model.

Components of furniture

So, any frameless chair consists of two covers: internal and external. Both are zippered. Outer case maybe made of eco-leather (a word promoted by advertising, in fact it is ordinary furniture dermantine). This surface is easy to clean and always looks bright and elegant. But sitting on it in the summer with bare legs means sticking. You can also use any fabric, preferably furniture fabric - they are much stronger. For example, fleece, you can use raincoat fabric, cotton fabric, any light and durable one. Natural fabric feels better on the body, but it wears out faster. In general, think that in the end, sewing a new cover instead of a worn one is not a problem.

Inner case can be sewn from furniture non-woven fabric or simple lining fabric. It is the same in shape as the outer one. AND filling- balls of polyvinyl chloride, that is, polystyrene foam.

Foam granules are very harmful. It’s impossible to put them in a ready-made case! According to the law of static electricity, the balls fly upward, then to the sides, and finally stick to everything. A very beautiful sight, but I don’t recommend repeating it. For the rest of your life you will be picking out nasty granules from all sorts of places. I have developed two methods for pushing harmful balls inside the case.

First: sew a long zipper, for example a meter, into the inner case. Then you can push the whole bag into it, cut it inside, and take it out, but the balls will remain inside. Second: make a large paper funnel and pour the crumbs through it. Then there is no need for a long zipper. Paper also removes static electricity.

Previously, this miracle could only be purchased at construction stores in big bags. Now that frameless furniture is mass-produced, there are special granules packaged in 100-liter containers. They cost from fifty hryvnia - according to the seller’s conscience. Don't let the volume scare you - the bag is almost weightless.

Types of frameless furniture

We start with the simplest patterns. First, let's make pillow. It looks like a triangular pyramid. Classic proportions of triangles: base - 110 cm, sides - 80 cm. But you can change the sizes without changing the proportions, to your liking. We cut it out, placing the parts on the fabric in the same way as in the photo.

Allow seam allowances of one and a half centimeters on each side. Sew the sides of the pyramid together. We process the sections with an overlocker if the fabric is loose. After sewing on the triangle that forms the base of the pyramid, we sew in a zipper. It is better to do this along the entire 100cm long edge.

We sew the outer cover in the same way. We stuff a bag of balls into the inner case and release them, filling the case two-thirds full. They need room to move so they can take shape when the chair is sat on. We take out the empty bag and fasten the zipper. We push the inner one into the outer one and fasten it. That's it, ready!

Armchair-pear consists of six wedges, a round bottom (bottom part 1 and 2, two parts each), and an upper hexagonal part. It is sewn exactly the same way as a pillow. the classic is also no less interesting. We cut out two side parts.

Pattern for mat chairs not needed at all. We sew two rectangles, width 120 cm, height 180 cm, don’t forget about the zippers. That's the whole case. Don’t forget that you don’t need to fill the case with balls to capacity, but only two-thirds full. Patterns flower chairs I don’t have one, I didn’t have to sew. But there is a picture that shows you how to sew. In fact, the entire flower is made of squares.

And finally, I’ll say, if you have adopted frameless furniture with your own hands, don’t throw away the remains of harmful balls. Over time, after about a year of daily use, the balls will shrink and become smaller in volume.

Then you will need to fill them up to the required volume. And that’s exactly what you have required quantity leftover!

I’ll also say, especially for fans healthy image life. I have never heard anyone complain about allergic reactions to frameless furniture. It is even very environmentally friendly.

Enjoy your holiday in chairs that take the shape of your body, chairs that know how to love, chairs born in the most beautiful country in the world!

Even if the work does not look perfect, this fact can be disguised as the author’s idea and you will get a unique bean bag chair made by yourself.

The bean bag chair is popular because it takes the shape of the body of everyone who sits on it.

DIY bag chair: choice of material

Frameless furniture is subject to the same loads during operation as standard furniture, and perhaps to a greater extent. Therefore, before sewing a chair bag, you need to choose the right fabric for it. The material should be durable and pleasant to the touch, and everyone can choose a color from those available to suit their taste. In order to sew a chair bag yourself, silk, satin, calico or satin are definitely not suitable, since they are too thin and fragile and are not intended for this kind of use.

You can use velor for the outer cover; this fabric resembles faux fur, it feels soft and fleecy, velvety and quite durable. Flock is similar to it in its properties, which also has water-repellent properties. This fabric is recommended for use by small children, as it is very easy to wash or clean and for a long time does not fade in the sun.

To sew a bean bag chair, you can use chenille fabric.

If, in order to sew a chair bag, you can use fabrics of non-natural origin, then good option is chenille. This fabric has synthetic fibers in its composition, due to this the surface does not form pills, is easy to care for and, like any furniture fabric, is quite durable. Jacquard is very similar to chenille, which also has a small percentage synthetic fibers. Despite the presence of loop pile on the front surface, this coating does not unravel if one thread is accidentally caught and broken. It is recommended to sew a chair from such fabric, as it is durable and all dirt can be easily washed off its surface.

You can sew a bag with your own hands using artificial suede or leather. These materials are not budget ones, but a bag chair made from them will last a long time. Faux suede has a pile and is very wear-resistant; leather can be embossed and is also very durable. Without any restrictions on funds, you can also use tapestry; it is a very durable and dense fabric of natural composition, on which a variety of patterns are woven. This type of material has antistatic properties, so it is especially good for sewing a chair filled with polystyrene foam balls.

You can fill the chair bag with foam balls.

The fabric that will be used to sew the inner bag can be any. Mandatory characteristics are breathable properties, since air must pass freely through the structure without interfering with its intake. the required form. You should not use slippery or too loose fabrics for the inner bag; lining materials used in sewing clothes will not be suitable. You can take satin, calico or flannel, chintz and cotton are used in 2 folds.

Most often, fabric sold in rolls has a factory width of 140-150 cm, this is enough to sew a frameless chair without unnecessary seams. Material of a smaller width is not suitable for every model, and it is impractical to choose a larger width, since the remains are unsuitable for further use and go to waste.

To work you will need:

  • calico, satin;
  • fabric for outer cover;
  • 2 zippers;
  • fabric for applique;
  • filler;
  • threads in color;
  • scissors;
  • tape measure;
  • pencil;
  • pins.

The pattern needs to be transferred to the fabric, enlarged to the right size. Most often, the pattern consists of a small lower part, which will serve as the bottom, and 6 wedges for the chair itself. The parts are cut out, leaving the necessary seam allowances. Before or after stitching, be sure to process the inner edges of the seams. If the fabric is dense and voluminous, it is more convenient to process it in one layer before the cover is sewn. Faux leather, suede and flock do not need this operation, since their edges do not fray.

In order to sew a frameless bag with your own hands, you first need to fold and sew all the wedges one by one, small area in this case, it must be left unsewn; a zipper is inserted into it. Two wedges for stitching are folded with the right sides of the fabric inward and pinned together so that the fabric does not move and the seams are even. All 6 wedges are sewn together in this way, not forgetting the zipper. For a beginner in sewing, we can advise you to start with the inner cover, on which errors are not so critical and practically invisible, and then take on the outer cover, which must be sewn flawlessly.

IN last resort the bottom is sewn on. The lower, inner cover that any chair bag has is sewn in the same way, but working with it is usually easier, since its fabric is thin and easier to process. To put filling into the inner case and remove the outer case for washing or cleaning, a zipper is sewn into one of the wedges.

The zipper in both cases must be sewn with special care, making sure that the slider is firmly fixed. An unfastened zipper will create many difficulties with collecting the filler and placing it back into the case. A zipper on the inner cover is necessary, since the filler cakes after a while, it is necessary to add it so that the chair does not lose its shape. The inner cover is filled 2/3 of the volume with a special filler, then the zipper is fastened and the outer cover is put on it.
