For every parent, sooner or later the question arises of increasing the functionality of children's furniture. All interior items in the nursery must become real transformers in order to justify the money spent on them and not stand unused. In addition, modern inventions can partially free the hands of busy mothers, turning them into a chair, a swing, or a whole set of furniture.

The first step is to assemble the chair, and then you can move on to assembling the table, which will be much easier to assemble.

Often, such devices can complicate the life of parents while they figure out how to assemble them after purchase. An ordinary children's high chair will be no exception. Of course, it is easy to assemble a high chair as indicated in the instructions, but it is not always included, and even if it is, it is not always clear to the user.

How to assemble a children's high chair "Agu"

All children's stores sell children's furniture in disassembled form, except in cases where the last piece is left on the display. To assemble the Agu model high chair at home yourself, you need to remove all the components from the box, including the Euroscrews with a special key for them. Small parts are already assembled into large parts, which makes the task easier. The easiest way is to start assembling the chair and then move on to the table.

The chair has two armrests with triple vertical wooden rods. The edge to which the rods are closest is considered the front. Connect the armrests with a transverse wooden strip, screwing it with two bolts in front of the armrests, from below. After this, the base for the high chair will be stable. Next you should install soft seat of the high chair into the base so that the limiter strap is at the front and bottom. The wooden slats are already screwed to the bottom of the upholstered seat.

Its seat is secured with four bolts, and the back to the armrests with two. Now all that remains is to install the plastic tabletop, which is placed on top and snaps into place with grooves in its bottom on the armrests. On the left armrest there is a plastic adjuster for the distance of the table top. It's time to move on to assembling the table or high chair stand.

To do this, you need to connect two identical parts, reminiscent of the Roman numeral II, perpendicular to each other. On them, the places where the bolts are connected are marked with dashes. Then place the resulting structure on legs and screw the remaining part with a solid wall to form a stable structure. Connect the legs with two jumpers and secure them with bolts. This completes the assembly.

To make the high chair higher, you need to turn the table with the table top backwards and place the chair and plastic table top on top. To make a set, lower the chair to the floor again, remove the plastic tabletop, and move in a table with a wooden tabletop.

How to assemble a baby high chair “Baby” with your own hands

Initially, you need to remove all the feeding parts from the box and lay them out on the table. It can be immediately noted that individual parts much larger than in the previous example, but each of them is numbered - table parts with numbers from 2 to 9, chair parts with numbers from 11.

Euroscrews with a key should also be included in the kit. To start assembling a high chair, you need to arrange all the components in numerical order into table and chair parts separately. Then you need to align and bolt the parts with the holes numbered the same numbers, starting from 12. Then connect the parts with mark 13. Next, fasten the holes numbered 11 and 14, respectively. After this, you should get a part consisting of four separate elements.

Assemble the second part in the same way, alternately connecting the same configurations of numbers, then connect these parts with a crossbar.

Now you can assemble the high chair by screwing it to the received wooden base a soft seat, while the crossbar should be under the child’s legs, and the limiter strap should hang down. The seat is secured with six bolts. The last stage in the assembly of the high chair it will become screwing wooden table top two bolts to the armrests. Additional hole in the armrest will allow you to easily adjust the position of the tabletop in the future by moving it away or moving it closer to the child and twisting it.

Thus, the high chair is assembled, all that remains is a stand or table for it. The logic for collecting is the same. Select four elements with cell numbers 3 and screw them together. The result should be a part in the shape of the letter H. The second similar part should be twisted in the same way from four elements according to the numbering of cells 3. Only the attachment of the last element of the part will differ, it will be numbered 2 and will not be twisted joint to joint, but as a result of superimposing one strip on another.

All that remains is to assemble the feeding table by connecting all the large parts. First you need to combine the table top with the leg by twisting the cells numbered 5. Add a third part and twist the cells numbered 6. Secure the resulting structure with two wooden planks with cell numbers 4. After assembly, be sure to check the strength of all connections, additionally tightening them with a wrench. It is not recommended to tighten the bolts too tightly, as this can shorten the service life of the product and increase wear on threaded connections.

To make a high chair for feeding a child, a chair with a soft seat must be placed on a table, and its table top should be under the legs in front or behind, as the parents wish. And to get a set of furniture, you need to lower the chair, for convenience, unscrew the small tabletop from it and move a large table on the floor.

Still don't know how to design a highchair yourself? Our article will help you understand all the intricacies of folding this irreplaceable piece of furniture. You will see that assembling children's high chairs from wood with your own hands is not difficult.

Material

Before you start assembling the chair with your own hands, you should decide on the material. Of course, a tree is the best choice, it is completely safe and environmentally friendly. Which wood to choose? Let's start with beech. Beech is considered a dense and durable tree, and it is easier to work with than, for example, oak. If you are looking for something more budget-friendly, birch and pine - a good option. But before starting work, the wood should be deresined, since the resin, even if it is natural, is unsafe. You can also choose plywood to make a chair - good material, made from layers of tree veneer. Plywood is not heavy and is easy to process. Chipboard is the most affordable, but at the same time, the most short-lived. It is suitable for making a table top for a high chair.

Preparation

You can find materials and drawings for children's furniture in any hardware store. Dry the wood by leaving it in a room with room temperature for a day. The wood will become suitable for work.
Are you not sure that you can make all the elements of the chair with your own hands? Contact a hardware store.

The back and seat must be rectangular shape. Side parts baby chair You can make it and decorate it however you like. Try not to make a highchair with sharp corners - they are dangerous for the child.

Material processing

Naturally, the material cannot be used in its original form for either a regular chair or a high chair. It needs to be processed. You can do this yourself or turn to professionals. The wood should be treated with hand router or regular sandpaper. With a router, processing must be done in cross sections. Apply varnish. Buy varnish with a turpentine base - it does not contain toxic substances. After letting the varnish dry, sand the surface several times. For a smooth finish, coat with varnish again.

Construction procedure and diagram

On the video: another option for designing a high chair. Be sure to check it out :)

To fasten a regular chair, you can use dowels. They are good because they can also be made from wood with your own hands. Holes with a diameter of 6-8 mm should be made under them. Place the pieces tightly onto the dowels by tapping them with a hammer. Secure with a clamp and leave for 24 hours. If you need to secure the elements of a high chair, it will be more convenient to use confirmats. Similar ties are suitable for folding large quantity details.

You can make drawings and diagrams yourself or find them on a construction site. It’s better to do the drawing yourself, measuring the child’s parameters. Carefully calculate the dimensions, height and width ratio. Of course, it is more difficult to draw a diagram for a high chair yourself, so it is better to turn to ready-made drawings.

If you have made a drawing, but are not entirely sure whether it is correct, test it by folding a cardboard model of the high chair.

Typically, children from 1 to 6 are provided with either regular wooden chairs for games or activities, or a high chair. You can make a separate one with your own hands small table and a chair using the drawing.

Regular wooden chair

For regular high chair do it yourself, you will need the following parts:

  • 2 short legs, 2 long (53 cm high). Dimensions of 4 legs - 3.8 * 3.3 cm;
  • seat (approx. 30*30 cm);
  • back (6 mm thick, 22.5 cm high);
  • bars under the seat;
  • drawing of an ordinary chair.

A corner should be made from the wide parts of the tall legs. Use a sander to smooth the sides of the short legs and bars. Take drilling machine and install a drill with a diameter of 6 mm. Measure the depth of 1.5 cm on the drill and mark it using the drawing. Drill along the long legs at an angle, making 12 holes. Using a chisel, we select everything from the drilled parts and make grooves. We insert the back into the grooves.

If part of the back rests, cut out a triangle and hammer the back into the groove. Make spikes on the sides of the block and round the corners. We make grooves for the tenons in the legs. We assemble the frame. If the back is too wide and does not fit into the grooves, measure and cut off the excess. Don't forget to make triangles on the sides of the back so that it sits firmly in the grooves. Take your time to insert into the back legs. Make a handle for the chair in the back. Mark the distance and cut a hole for the handle.

We insert the back into the frame. Now we make marks on the seat and cut it out. Sand the seat and insert it into the frame.

Lubricate the holes, elements and spikes for fastening with glue, secure with clamps, and leave to dry.

Wooden baby high chair

You will have to spend more time and money on a wooden high chair for feeding your baby. In order to make such a piece of furniture with your own hands, you will need:

  • bars with a cross section of 400*200 mm
  • board (thickness 20 mm)
  • fibreboard measuring 2000*2100 mm.
  • drawing of a high chair

For the chair you will need: 4 legs, 2 upper crossbars and 2 lower ones, 3 crossbars, a table top.
For the table: legs, slats, crossbars 4 pieces each, table top

We cut out the parts for the chair from the bars and sand them with sandpaper. We cut out the elements for the chair arms from the board. We connect using dowels and glue. Holes with a depth of 30 mm will be needed for the dowels.

For the side, you will need crossbars, 2 curves, 2 legs. Lubricate the dowels and holes with glue. First, assemble the bottom crossbar and legs (the angle should be 90 degrees). Then we assemble the top crossbar and two curves. We tighten everything with a clamp. Leave for one day. The second side is folded in the same way. Make sure they are the same.

Now another one important stage– assembly of seat and backrest. Be careful here, as children are very restless during feeding, so all parts must be firmly fixed. You need 6 parts from a plate measuring 300*250 mm. Round the corners so that the radius is 50 mm. Next you need to start sanding the ends. Lubricate the parts with glue and press. You can connect the back and seat with screws. We glue the crossbars to the sidewalls. Then you need to connect the legs with all the planks, attach the sides with crossbars and fix the tabletop at one end. We get a ready-made baby high chair.

Dimensions of bars (length):

  • support legs – up to 20 cm;
  • seat frame connecting strips – up to 20 cm;
  • backrest lintels – up to 20 cm.

A wooden chair made by yourself can be decorated to your liking.

During the manufacturing process, the thickest bars with a cross-section of 5x5 cm are used for the legs. For the planks, parts are taken with a diameter half the size of the supporting ones.

For the planks, take parts with a diameter half the size of the supporting ones.

The parameters of the seat board (height and width) should also not exceed 20 cm. The back part may be slightly higher, but preferably no more than 30 cm.

Deciding on design and construction

For a wooden product, you can come up with any option. A highchair is usually made with straight supports and the following forms of the back structure:

  • solid square or rectangular;
  • wide truncated cone;
  • straight through (with jumper bar).

To accurately apply the image you will need a stencil.

Creating a product with your own hands requires careful preparation. You must first make a sketch of the project. Visually draw a diagram of the connections of all parts separately with calculations of sections and lengths. Following the sketches, you will recreate the model in reality with exact parameters. A chair that has all the right dimensions will fit the baby and will not create any inconvenience.

For a wooden product, you can come up with any option.

Certain models are created with the expectation that the child will sit behind common table along with other family members. In this case, high legs are chosen for the product, which are not attached exactly vertically in relation to the seat and floor, but more widely. The lower part of such a chair will look like a truncated cone, connected for stability by wooden blocks around the perimeter. The top part will be approximately 30-35 cm below the table level.

If you have certain skills, you can assemble a folding product. Such items can be easily removed if necessary into storage areas.

For selected design solution parts are processed in accordance with it.

Manufacturing process: step-by-step instructions

After preparing a drawing with exact parameters, we begin to assemble a simple children's high chair.

  1. Calculate the length of the legs exactly according to the diagram, saw off the excess with a hacksaw.
  2. Cut out the jumper bars to size that will secure the frame in the seat area.
  3. Connect them with supporting structure. Add furniture glue for reinforcement.
  4. Attach the pre-sized back and seat using self-tapping screws.
  5. All wood parts must be cleaned with sandpaper to avoid roughness and burrs.

A chair that has all the right dimensions will fit the baby and will not create any inconvenience.

If the parts are disproportionate, “adjust” them according design scheme using a hacksaw. To make the chair you created with your own hands comfortable, ask your baby to sit on it, ask how comfortable he is.

If all sizes were determined correctly, the child will like it New furniture. To ensure the parts are smooth, sand the surface again.

Certain models are created with the expectation that the child will sit at a common table with other family members.

To varnish the product, use only safe compounds - a special coating for children's furniture, environmentally friendly and having the appropriate certificate.

The top part will be approximately 30-35 cm below the table level.

After exterior finishing varnish, let the chair dry thoroughly for a day or two. Then you can start decorative finishing, if such is intended. If it involves carving, then varnishing is done after completion artistic treatment and sanding parts.

Decorating a chair

Use a jigsaw for carving. You can make a decoration in the form of a flower by cutting it in the center of the back, or any geometric figure. First, mark the area of the future decoration with a pencil so that the carving is even. Parts such as legs and back can be carved. The corners of the seat can be rounded using a jigsaw and sandpaper.

During the manufacturing process, the thickest bars with a cross section of 5x5 cm are used for the legs.

The top can also be made not strictly rectangular, but a truncated cone, rounded, compound. In the latter option, you will need additional bars and cross bars - one or two. They are secured using special holes at the junction with the dorsal frame. It's pretty labor-intensive process, but if you wish, you can choose this option.

For fastenings, take sufficient self-tapping screws.

All steps for processing parts must be performed before the chair is assembled - this way the work process will be faster, more convenient and neater.

If you have certain skills, you can assemble a folding product.

To make a home-made piece of children's furniture look more interesting, you can apply a design to the back and seat. To do this you need to use safe paints. The color scheme should be bright and cheerful. Simple ornaments, floral patterns, and imitation of children's toys, such as cars, look great on wooden furniture.

Instead of natural solid wood, you can use chipboard or plywood, but these materials are not durable.

Due to the fact that the size of the product is small, a large pattern will become a kind of accent that attracts the child’s attention - he will like to sit on such a beautiful chair, play games or have breakfast.

You can use appliqués for decoration – there are plenty of adhesive bright films on sale.

The image will turn out smooth if you use a stencil pre-cut from paper or thick plastic.

You can use appliqués for decoration – there are plenty of adhesive bright films on sale. Whether the image will be monochromatic or multi-colored depends on your imagination.

First of all, these are wooden blocks and boards from which the frame, seat and back are assembled.

It is not recommended to use bulky (protruding) parts, both small and large, in finishing the seat or back of a children's chair. Firstly, it is inconvenient for the child, and secondly, they quickly fall off when frequent use products.

VIDEO: DIY high chair

With the birth of the baby, parents try to create for him comfortable conditions from the first days of life. In order to make feeding a restless child more joyful, both him and his parents use a high chair. It's not at all difficult to make a high chair with your own hands. It's much cheaper than buying ready-made ones in the store. In addition, the process of work will be a very pleasant experience, because love and warm feelings for the child are invested in it.

The chair in which the child is fed must be safe and suitable for the child’s anatomy, since early childhood the formation of the musculoskeletal system occurs.

  • The seat and back should not be too hard and not too soft. In this case, the muscles will receive the correct load;
  • Footrest required;
  • Non-toxic materials and paints must be used;
  • All parts of the high chair must be free of sharp corners and protruding fasteners that could get caught.

To understand how to make a comfortable chair, you need to decide on its type. You can make a high pedestal with a seat and tabletop. Another option is a transformable chair. As the baby grows, such a product turns from a feeding chair into a table and play chair. This design is more practical, so we will talk about it further.

Selection of materials

Wood has an advantage in making furniture for children. It can be easily processed at home, is non-toxic and non-hazardous. Depending on the design, laminated chipboard is used, MDF boards or ready-made bars. Chipboard sheets There are different toxicities. To make a children's device as environmentally friendly as possible, you need to pay attention to the emission class, which is indicated in the quality certificate. Formaldehyde emission indicators that comply with GOST are class E1. Such wooden materials recommended for use in children's institutions. Class E0 has even less toxicity.

When choosing paint or varnish for wood, you also need to pay attention to the safety of the material. For example, it is better to use acrylic lacquer or varnish with a turpentine base.

Oak beams are very durable, but they are difficult to process. It is better to use beech. Items made from it are strong, durable and easier to manufacture. You can also use pine or birch. The wood beams need to be sanded. This will not only eliminate all irregularities, but also round off sharp corners. After this, the wood is varnished or painted.

To make a baby high chair well with your own hands, you need to make detailed drawing, take into account all sizes and patterns.

Manufacturing

The transforming chair consists of a table and a chair with a soft seat and a food stand. All parts are made from ordinary timber and are securely attached to each other.

Necessary materials:

  1. Beam with a section of 20 by 40 mm.
  2. Chipboard sheet for seat and back.
  3. Plywood for food stand and table top.

For the table you will need (dimensions are given in mm):

  • 4 beams 500 long for legs,
  • 4 beams 340 long for cross bars,
  • 4 beams 410 long to strengthen the structure and connect it to the chair;
  • A sheet of plywood measuring 380 by 450 for the countertop.

For the chair you will need (dimensions in mm):

  • 4 beams 390 long for legs,
  • 3 beams 300 long for cross bars,
  • A sheet of plywood measuring 200 by 340 for a food stand,
  • 2 beams 220 long for the top crossbar,
  • 2 beams 340 long for the bottom crossbar,
  • 4 semicircular elements for armrests,
  • 2 pieces made of chipboard measuring 300 by 250.

Prepared bars of the required length are fastened together using dowels or self-tapping screws. You can make dowels yourself by cutting them out of wood cylindrical parts measuring 10 by 20 by 50 mm. Grooves are drilled in the bars according to the size of the dowels and the two parts are tightly fastened together on such small elements with the addition of regular PVA glue.

Chair assembly

Assembling the chair begins with connecting the side parts.

Two legs 340 mm long and a lower crossbar 340 mm long are connected, which is attached at a height of 180 mm from the base of the legs. The top crossbar, also known as the future armrest, 220 mm long, is fastened to rounded elements, and then connected to the legs. The rounded elements must be the same width as the cross-section of the beam, 40 mm. And the radius of curvature along the inner edge is also 40 mm. Using this part, the length of the bars that it will connect is 100 mm smaller size designs, which is taken into account in the data.

If the parts are completely identical, they will connect easily and the structure will be stable.

Laminated chipboard sheets are the future seat and backrest. Each part must be rounded external corners for greater convenience. Curvature radius 50 mm. The parts are duplicated with foam rubber and covered with suitable material. It can be dense and non-stainable fabric or dermantine. If used synthetic material, it is recommended to sew a removable seat cover from a fabric that is pleasant to the touch. This cover can be removed and washed as needed. The material is attached to the back of the seat with a furniture stapler. The two halves of the seat will be fastened together with corners.

Connecting the sides of the chair together. Cross strips fasten the sidewalls to dowels. In order to install the seat, use an additional support bar. It is attached on a dowel to the sidewall and creates a convenient groove for attaching the backrest, taking into account its angle of inclination.

A food stand measuring 200 by 340 mm can be rectangular or curved shape, as you like. You can make a recess in it for a glass. It is attached to the front of the armrests. The fastening can be done, for example, on screws with a semicircular head, which will be slightly recessed.

Table assembly

First, the sidewall parts are connected. Upper and lower crossbars 340 mm long are attached to the 500 mm long legs. The sidewalls are connected to each other by strips 410 mm long. Two of them are attached as a connection to the lower crossbars, and the other two are parallel to them. They are attached to one side of the table and act as supports for the chair. In order for the chair to confidently take its place on these bars, framing them on both sides with legs, the distance between these bars should be 250 mm.

Fastening the table top. Plywood measuring 380 by 450 mm with sanded corners is attached using self-tapping screws.

Assembly of the structure

The table is installed on its side, with additional 410 mm slats up. On top is a chair with a stand. If all the calculations turned out to be correct, then the chair can be easily attached with self-tapping screws to the planks on which it stands. This is done for greater stability of the structure. And one of the lower crossbars of the table will serve as a stand for the legs. If desired, you can make your own improvements to it.

Every loving parent can make a baby high chair with their own hands. It does not take a lot of time. And such a durable design will serve as a children’s chair for daily feeding for about 2 years, and later as a table and chair for games up to 4 or 5 years.

When decorating a room for a child, parents tend to purchase furniture made from natural materials. But in addition to the high cost, sometimes you are not satisfied with the limited choice of options. The solution would be a DIY high chair, which can be complemented with a table in the same design. The variety of models, simplicity and accessibility of production will help you create a real masterpiece.

To create a children's chair with your own hands, you will need different materials, which are easy to purchase at the construction department:

  • planks and bars for making a seat, frame and back;
  • self-tapping screws that will fasten the parts together;
  • medium-hard sandpaper.

Tools for the chair you will need:

  • screwdriver;
  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • hacksaw for wood.

At home production It is better to use natural materials. Plastic chairs are significantly inferior to them in terms of performance properties and other important characteristics. Firstly, they do not have high strength. Secondly, their safety for children has not been experimentally proven. Natural wood is different high cost, but such children's furniture is environmentally friendly and absolutely safe for health. Beneficial features are retained even after complete processing. The following types are preferred:

  1. Pine. This - a budget option. The antiseptic properties of wood are valued. The finished product is easy to paint. The disadvantages include the fact that in the absence proper care the chair and table may swell and crack.
  2. Beech. Its qualities are similar to oak. Easily restored if minor damage occurs on the surface.
  3. Oak. Furniture for children made from this solid wood will last the longest, and it is not susceptible to rotting even with frequent contact with moisture. Remains attractive for a long time appearance– even a very active child will not be able to scratch it.

MDF does not emit hazardous resins during operation. The material is quite durable, the average service life is 10 years (provided that nothing is dropped or hit on the surface). Therefore, when deciding to make a highchair with your own hands, from MDF is better refuse. Moreover, the cost finished product only slightly lower than solid wood models.

Plywood is environmentally friendly and safe material. Easily amenable to even very fine processing, it is characterized by low cost in comparison with natural wood against the background long term operation. The disadvantages include a limited range of applications.

Chipboard has a low cost. Disadvantages include increased flexibility and the presence of formaldehyde resins in the composition. It is not recommended to make children's furniture from such raw materials - allergic reactions may occur to it.

Tools

Product dimensions

When starting to make a chair for a child with your own hands, it is important to take into account the following rules:

  1. When sitting on furniture, your feet should be completely flat on the floor, your legs should be bent at the knees 90 degrees.
  2. The back of the chair is strictly vertical and fits tightly to the base.
  3. The outer edge of the seat should not put too much pressure on the inside of the knee.

Children's chairs are classified according to their purpose. The first group includes models for feeding. Such products traditionally come complete with a table. Most often they have sizes:

  • chair height – from 840 to 900 mm;
  • back width – 450 mm;
  • height of the chair to the seat – 500 mm, to the back – 700 mm;
  • width along the armrests – 400 mm.

The second group is a smaller copy of adult products. Tables that correspond to the height of the furniture and the height of the child will help you determine the size.

Child's height, cm Chair height, cm
Less than 85 180
85-100 220
101-115 260
116-130 300
131-145 340
146-160 380
161-175 420
above 176 460

The parameters of the children's table must exactly match the dimensions of the high chair.

The seat should be able to easily withstand the load placed on it. Optimal thickness– 60 mm. It is advisable to make the connecting strips of the seat frame up to 20 cm. The legs in cross-section can have dimensions of 5 x 5 cm - such parameters will ensure sufficient stability. The recommended length of the backrest jumper bars is up to 20 cm. All dimensions, drawings, diagrams of a do-it-yourself highchair and other models must be drawn up as accurately as possible.

A model of the future chair made of thick cardboard will help determine whether the measurements were taken correctly. Another convenience is that it is easy to make any changes to make the final product as convenient as possible.

Selecting a design and creating a drawing

Chairs for children can be of the following models:

  1. Classic versions - differ from adult sizes. Structurally they have the same elements.
  2. Folding - characterized by a simple design, actively used in small apartments, at the dachas.
  3. Growing chairs require the presence of adjustment mechanisms, which allows the products to be used longer.
  4. Transformers - most often presented in models supplemented with feeding shelves and footrests. At the base there is a table that can later be used for games.

The last two models have the highest leg heights. This especially applies to growing chairs, which can be used from 2 to 14 years. When choosing them, it is important to carefully evaluate the quality of the design.
