Place the assembly on the pipe and mark the locations for the holes for the dowel-nails. Remove the assembly and drill holes, then put the assembly back on. When installing the clamp, do not forget to place a rubber gasket. If the inside of the clamp is covered with rubber, then a gasket is not needed.

Assemble and tighten the clamp. Gently shake the pipe. If there is no play, you did everything right. If there is play, you have not secured the clamp or assembly to the wall properly, the clamp has been loosely attached to the steel plate, the clamp has not been tightened sufficiently, or it is not designed to accommodate pipes of that diameter.

How to cover a pipe with soundproofing material

For soundproofing you will need the following materials:

  • thermal insulation made of foamed polyethylene or other materials for insulating PVC pipes;
  • plastic disposable clamps 35-40 cm long;
  • scotch.

If you are using sleeve-type insulation, which is used to insulate pipes, cut it lengthwise. Position the insulation so that the joint is located on the side of the pipe. Mark the mounting location and cut a hole for it in the insulation. The distance from the edge of the insulation to the hole should not exceed 10 cm. Then cut the insulation to the side edge in the direction of the shortest distance.

Place and wrap the insulation around the pipe and seal the joint with tape. Then put on the second layer in the same way. If you can’t stretch the second layer, do not cut holes, but put it on so that the joint is located on the side where it is attached to the wall. After this, secure the structure with plastic disposable clamps.

If it is not possible to put sound insulation on the insulation, cut pieces of such a size that they completely cover the pipe from one fastener to the other, then put it on and secure it.

If you are using roll insulation, cut strips of it so large that they completely wrap the pipe. Install the first layer, secure with tape, then the second layer and secure with clamps.

If you use foam or mineral wool insulating shells for sound insulation, install them so that the joint of the shells passes through the pipe-to-wall mount. Cut a hole in both shells for the pipe fastening element, put both shells on and secure them with tape or plastic clamps.

Do not use foam for soundproofing. After hardening, it conducts sound perfectly.

How to make a soundproofing partition

If the level of sound insulation is insufficient or you are not satisfied appearance pipes, install a sound-absorbing partition. Use soundproofing materials for it.

If it is not possible to buy such materials, take two sheets of plywood 5-7 mm thick, cut pieces from them to the size of the partition. Don't forget to provide space for a plumbing inspection hatch.

Purchase mineral wool 30-50 mm thick. Buy wooden blocks, the thickness of which is equal to the thickness of mineral wool. Screw them with self-tapping screws to one sheet of plywood with inside around the perimeter, then screw holes around the perimeter for the inspection hatch. What does volume depend on?

The loudness of the sound of falling water can depend not only on the speed at which wastewater falls from a height of any floor through a vertically installed sewer pipe, but also on the material from which the pipe itself is made.

So, for example, a number of polymer sewer pipes emit much less noise than steel pipes. And they practically do not allow sounds to pass through at all. Cast iron pipes do not make noise because they are heavy.

Soundproofing by infrasound

Infrasound is a natural phenomenon associated with sound waves that have a low frequency, lower than humans can perceive.

Infrasound sound insulation is possible only in two ways:

The situation is exactly the same with a plastic riser, only it can be replaced completely along the entire pipe and even together with crosses or sockets. Starting from the ceilings and ending with the floor.

Insulation process - do it yourself

Having decided on the material, we will deal directly with the soundproofing process itself. Simply wrapping the system elements with damping material is not enough; you also need to isolate them from vibration or at least take measures to dampen it. By building regulations pipes must pass through the ceilings in a special sleeve. An ordinary pipe of larger diameter can act as a sleeve. The resulting space between the sleeve and the sewer riser is filled with sound-insulating material and acoustic sealant, which dampens vibrations.

However, this simple procedure is performed in one out of ten cases. You can consider it a rare success to have at least the sleeve itself - you can fill it according to all the rules yourself. In most cases, the sewerage or heating system simply passes through the ceiling, in rigid contact with it. Because of this, vibrations from the ceiling are also transmitted to the pipes, so that the sound receives special force.

Our task is to reduce the contact of the pipeline with the ceiling as much as possible and isolate its surface. For this work you will need a hammer drill (or at least a hammer and chisel), cement, acoustic sealant and any soundproofing material that you have at your disposal. First, you need to go deeper into the ceiling around the riser - that's what you need a hammer drill for.
