Try removing the tulle and curtains - and you will see how empty the room becomes. Currently they are creating a large number of curtain options. It's not just about the fabric. Today, blinds are very often used as curtains. They perfectly protect the house from sun rays and a curious look. These products are easy to install and dismantle. However, some people face certain problems: not everyone knows how to install blinds on plastic windows. In this article we will try to understand this in detail.

Kinds

To create coziness, there are more than 10 types of blinds: vertical and horizontal, roller and pleated, attic and interframe, for arches and bay windows, Roman blinds and multi-textured, electric and protective (roller blinds), photo blinds.

Blinds can be wooden, bamboo, metal (aluminium), fabric, plastic, paper.

Ease of use, reliability in operation, affordable price, light-protective properties have led to the fact that horizontal blinds have become one of the most popular types. They are used in the design of windows and other openings (in the most different rooms). But most often they are used for windows, and in modern world– for plastic options.

Installation features of cassette models

If the owner installs the blinds himself, the manufacturer often refuses warranty obligations. There are quite clear explanations: due to incorrect installation, the shutters may simply not work, which means that the curtains will be unusable. In addition, if installed incorrectly, the glass itself and/or the frame can be damaged.

If you are not sure about own strength, then it’s better to contact a specialist.

If you decide to do everything yourself, firstly, you need to determine the methods of fastening. Secondly (depending on the chosen method) – purchase blinds. Thirdly, it is necessary to prepare tools and materials.

Mounting methods

There are several mounting methods (depending on the window opening):

  • If window hole need to be visually enlarged, then the cassette can be attached to the wall above the opening. The block itself can be much wider window opening, and the height of the structure is much higher than the frame itself. By appearance these can be full curtains;
  • If the window opening is wide enough, the window sill is used as an additional (for example, flower) shelf, then in this case the cassette can be attached to the upper slope of the opening - similar to installation on the ceiling. In this case, the window will visually look larger, and on the windowsill, by closing the blinds, it will be possible to hide important objects from view. prying eyes. In addition, with this mounting, the flowers will not be in eternal shade;
  • If the window itself is large enough and does not require visual magnification (or the window sill is narrow), then the blinds can be attached to a fixed window frame, to an opening sash, to glazing.

Necessary materials

Having decided on the method of fastening, you should next prepare necessary tools, among which:

  • Roulette. Its length should be sufficient to measure the width and height of the window opening in one step. If you independently report the dimensions of future blinds to the manufacturer, you need to take measurements based on the chosen mounting method. If the cassette will be mounted on the frame itself, then the width of the lamellas (plates) should be 2-3 cm less than it. Otherwise, the blades of individual cassettes will interfere with each other. If you still make a mistake with the dimensions, then keep in mind that even metal lamellas (plates) can be carefully trimmed with ordinary scissors on both sides - to maintain symmetry;
  • Marker or pencil for marking;
  • Phillips screwdrivers and (or) screwdriver;
  • Drill or hammer drill - for attaching to a wall or ceiling;
  • Dowels, screws and brackets;
  • PVA glue or liquid nails - in case the hole is larger than the dowel and needs to be more securely fixed in the wall or ceiling;
  • Pliers;
  • Hammer;
  • Plumb line (for example, from a thread and a bolt);
  • A level that helps to position the structure correctly;
  • Stepladder or work table (chair).

So, the blinds are ready and unpacked. Everything you need is also prepared. It's time to start strengthening by considering various ways fastenings

How to hang it on the wall correctly?

When planning to make markings for brackets on the wall, you need to assemble the blinds, following the instructions:

  • At a distance of approximately 15 cm from the edges of the product, you need to mark the places for fastenings. Do this using a tape measure and a level.

  • The bracket should not be located at the location where the clamp is attached or at the location of the control system, otherwise it will interfere with the operation of the blinds. The distance between the brackets should be no more than 60 cm. As a rule, the width of the cassette block does not exceed 2.2 m. If the window is large, then several panels of blinds are made. The rule remains the same in any case: the wider the block, the more brackets will be required for secure fastening.

  • After installing the brackets, you need to push the latch forward. Carefully (slightly tilting it towards the wall) insert the upper cornice under the bracket latch, press it firmly against the wall and turn the latch all the way to the left by 90 degrees.

  • The lamellas are rotated to the “open-closed” position using the control knob included in the kit. The length of the handle should not exceed 2/3 of the length of the blade. If the handle is longer, then you need to remove it from the frame, open the protective cap, saw off the excess length, put the cap back on and hang it on the frame.

How to attach it to the ceiling yourself?

The principle of attaching the cassette model to the ceiling or upper slope window opening is the same as when attached to the wall. Differences will be observed in the way the brackets are installed. When installing the bracket to a wall, horizontal holes are used, and when attaching to the ceiling or upper slope, vertical holes are used.

The technology is as follows:

  • Using a tape measure, determine the center of the window opening and make markings symmetrically (relative to the center). When you are going to attach the brackets, attach the cassette with the blinds and check how they work: whether the canvases interfere with each other and the free movement of the cords, or if they touch the opening.

  • Then connect the marks and check the levelness with a level. Using a drill or hammer drill, drill holes: for a self-tapping screw with a 2.5 mm drill, for a dowel - depending on the plastic part.
  • When planning to fasten the brackets, check again with a level that the cassette is positioned correctly. All that remains is to fix the brackets, fasten the cornice by turning the latch to the left 90 degrees and insert the plugs. If you attached the cornice with the canvas, this means that the job is done. If not, then all that remains is to attach the canvas.

Sash mounting

The cassette unit can be attached directly to the frame using self-tapping screws, violating the integrity of the window frame. But you can attach the blinds without drilling.

If you decide to use self-tapping screws, then their length should not exceed 10 mm, so as not to pierce window frame through and not to break the tightness of the window unit. After marking and attaching the brackets with self-tapping screws, you need to attach the blinds in the manner described earlier (insert the curtain rod, turn the latch to the left).

You can learn further about how to attach vertical aluminum blinds to a plastic window sash using drilling.

Install without drilling

If you decide to do without self-tapping screws and violating the integrity of the glass unit, then you can use double-sided tape or brackets - clamps. Moreover, you can attach the cassette with tape both to the frame itself and to the window sash. But brackets can only be used on sashes.

Using double-sided tape

Scotch tape must be used for construction work, not for paper. This type of tape is not sold in office supply stores. You need to look for it in building materials stores and auto stores.

There are two options for installing blinds with tape:

  • glue the tape directly onto the cassette and glue it to the window (sash);
  • Glue the clamp brackets to the tape, and then attach the cassettes to them.

In any case, when using tape as a material for attaching blinds, you must adhere to the following instructions:

  1. This type of work must be carried out in the warm season; the double-glazed window should not be cold or covered with condensation.
  2. It is necessary to wash the frame or glass, dry the mounting area and wipe it with acetone or solvent.
  3. Make markings using a pencil, cassette, level; in this case, the line must be strictly parallel to the window sill so that a skewed gap does not form below. If the window sill itself is located on a slope, then you need to focus on the level and plumb line, otherwise the slats (blind plates) will interfere with each other when closing. Their functionality will be impaired.
  4. Take off protective film from the tape and carefully glue it strictly along the intended line.
  5. Attach the canvas if it was not attached initially.

Using bracket clamps

Bracket clamps are very convenient for window sashes. They produce several versions of such clamps (plastic and metal), but they are all very easy to use. You can use them according to the following simple instructions:

  1. When assembling the cornice, you need to fasten the canvas and assemble it. You can fasten the canvas at the end of the installation work.
  2. Try the clamp on the cornice and check the functionality of the block.
  3. Depending on the specific clip model, open the window sash and snap the clip (top edge window sash). You can first disconnect the curtain rod and clamps, snap them onto the sash - and then attach the curtain rod to the clamp.
  4. Some models of clamps are equipped with stops that need to be secured to the curtain rod.
  5. Install the clips with magnets on the bottom of the window sash.
  6. Fasten the canvas if you have not done so before.
  7. Attach magnets to the bottom strip of the blind block and the clamps on the sash.

How to remove blinds?

Since there are quite a lot of models of blind cassettes, there are also many ways to remove them.

If your blinds are mounted on twist brackets, they can be removed by turning the latch to the right 90 degrees, while holding them. After turning, the cornice weakens; its upper edge needs to be slightly tilted towards the wall. The cassette comes out of the slots, the blinds are removed. Depending on the purpose for which you are removing the blinds, the canvas can be pre-assembled or left unraveled.

If the blinds are made in the form of a full-fledged curtain rod, then you need to very carefully (but at the same time applying a little force) disconnect the top decorative strip. Below it is the curtain mechanism. Gather the canvas from bottom to top. Lift the blinds up and to the right, removing them from their grooves.

From the video below you can learn how to independently remove horizontal blinds from removable latches-fasteners.

First of all, we will consider the installation of horizontal blinds, since installing blinds on plastic windows in in this case, most difficult:

  • take measurements of the same distance from each edge;
  • Drill a hole in the wall, then insert a dowel into it that will match the wall material. Now you can screw the mount using screws;
  • Using a ruler and level, measure the location of the second fastener and screw it on. In case of horizontal blinds You will also need to use another fastener if the width of the product exceeds the specified distance. Also, if you need to attach vertical blinds to the ceiling, the width of which exceeds one and a half meters, you should use three mounting brackets;
  • Now you can attach the blinds to the placed mounts.

It is best to use dowels that will match the fastenings used, as well as the material of the walls or ceiling, depending on where exactly you are going to attach the blinds.

Before installing the fasteners, you will need to check in advance whether the folded blinds will prevent the window from opening normally.

Installation without drilling

As mentioned above, this technology will use specialized brackets as the basis. They can be fixed most different ways, and only then can be snapped onto them or screwed Basic structure blinds. The use of this installation option is popular for the reason that after this it will be possible to easily unfasten the blinds for major cleaning or even completely remove them from the window. In this case, no extra holes will remain visible, and the tightness of the window profile will not be compromised.

Installation of the brackets themselves in this case can be done using screws or other methods, such as:

  • fastening to the top of the sash profile. The use of this method is relevant only when the installation of blinds is carried out on an opening sash;
  • fastening using standard double-sided tape.

The first option allows you to easily remove everything, including the brackets, almost immediately without the need to perform any additional manipulations with holes and screwdrivers. The second option is similar to how installation is done with screws, but instead of screwing the blinds, they are simply glued to the surface.

Instead of holes for holding fishing line, you can use standard fasteners, which can easily be glued to the bottom of the frame using double-sided tape.

If you don't understand how to install blinds on windows, the video below should help you:

Installation of fasteners

Despite the fact that over the past few years a huge number of diverse interesting options fastenings, the most relevant installation technology is using a standard drill. Almost everyone House master knows very well how to drill, so it will be enough to watch how blinds are installed on plastic windows in the video:

This installation option will allow you not only to hang the blinds normally, but also to secure them securely enough so that they can serve you faithfully for a long time, without loosening or losing their operational advantages.

These days, blinds have gained considerable popularity - they are installed both in private homes and in offices. Most often, the installation of systems is carried out by specialists, but installing blinds on a plastic window with your own hands is also quite possible and does not even require any special skills or tools. These curtains can be installed in several ways, the choice of which depends on the interior and functionality.

Varieties

Today, construction stores offer several types of blinds. Depending on the specific type, the features of fastening curtains change.

You can find several varieties of horizontal blinds on sale. The lamellas in them are installed horizontally, which explains the name of the design. The thickness, width and type of material can be customized. The structure can be attached inside the frame, to the frame itself, to the slope or on top of the window block.

Horizontal blinds are most often installed in institutions

These blinds are installed in offices, production facilities and other places. These designs are universal - if desired, you can find horizontal blinds in almost any color and shade.

Due to their design features, such blinds are most often mounted on top of windows.. The slats in this case are oriented vertically and are made of plastic or fabric. There are varieties on the market that differ in the length of the slats.

Vertical blinds are mainly installed in residential areas

This model is most often installed in private homes, but they are also in demand in offices. Installation of vertical blinds is carried out using self-tapping screws. As alternative option Mounting to the ceiling is practiced.

Roller blinds are made of fabric, completely cover the glass, and if desired, they can be raised by rolling them into a roll. Installation is carried out using brackets, screws or adhesive tape.

Roller blinds can be installed without drilling walls and doors - using double-sided tape

The need for drilling varies depending on the type:

  1. Vertical structures are mounted on top of the window or under the ceiling. In both cases you will have to drill the surface.
  2. Horizontal blinds can be attached to the top slope or to the window sashes. No drilling similar designs can be mounted on the sash of a window block.
  3. The interframe analogue, as you can easily guess from the name, is designed for installation inside the window itself. This option requires drilling the largest number holes.

Preparation and measurements

To install blinds you will need the following tools:

  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pencil or marker;
  • roulette.

To ensure that all your efforts are not in vain, it is important to carry out the measurements correctly and accurately - only then will the design work effectively. In addition, it must be located absolutely symmetrically to the glass unit. Blinds attached with adhesive tape are more tolerant of errors - they can be corrected if desired. For analogues with self-tapping screws, additional holes will need to be made, which is unlikely to benefit the beauty of the window; flaws here are unacceptable.

At the first stage of installing blinds, measure the width and height of the window

To correctly position the structure relative to the window and floor level, you will need to measure the following parameters:

  • window opening dimensions;
  • length to the bottom edge of the curtain;
  • distance between fasteners.

For horizontal blinds installed on sashes, you will need to additionally measure the dimensions of each glass. To the results obtained, add 2 cm to the top and bottom edges and 0.5 cm to the sides.

Installation of vertical blinds

Installing vertical blinds is actually not as difficult a process as it might initially seem, and anyone can cope with this task. If the length of the curtain is short, then installation is carried out inside the window opening. Otherwise, the structure is installed under the ceiling or on the wall.

The algorithm of actions here is as follows:

Installation of chain and lamellas. After attaching the cornice, all that remains is to hang the slats, install the runners, and also attach the adjusting chain. Important point: Be sure to hang the slats in the same order in which they are in the box. Otherwise, you can ruin the entire drawing (if there is one).

Installation of horizontal blinds

Attaching horizontal blinds to plastic windows is somewhat more complicated. The main thing is to strictly follow the instructions:

  1. The first step is to secure the upper fasteners. This is done using a screwdriver. First, the holes are prepared, after which the bracket is attached with self-tapping screws.
  2. We hang the cornice. It should be fastened until it clicks.
  3. The holes for the lower fasteners are drilled by hand. When choosing a diameter, you should take into account the dimensions of the thread retainer connecting the lamellas. Most often, horizontal blinds require additional holes On the sides. This helps to insert the clamp connected to the lamella fabric into the corners.

When installing horizontal blinds yourself, you must carefully follow the instructions.

Important: self-installation must be done as carefully as possible. Very often the slightest mistake results in the entire structure not functioning correctly..

When roller blinds There are several mounting options, so before starting you should choose the most convenient one. The first is installation on self-tapping screws, which in essence is no different from the option described above, the second is on a special duct tape, which is used instead of self-tapping screws, and in the third, the roller blind is hung on the sash.

To fix roller blinds, use brackets or adhesive tape

Important: do not forget about degreasing the plastic - it will help significantly improve the adhesion of materials.

Inter-frame curtains

Inter-frame curtains are used only for double frames. Installation of blinds of this type is somewhat more complicated than the previous ones, and the process itself will result in an inevitable violation of the integrity of the profile: you will have to drill at least two holes through which the handle and cord to control the system will be cut out.

The curtains themselves are mounted in the inner sash, or more precisely, in its upper part, and the bracket is mounted directly to the upper profile. Installing the structure is in many ways similar to working with horizontal blinds.

Inter-frame curtains are installed in double glazing

Do-it-yourself installation of the system is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  1. The window frame unwinds and the blinds are applied to the inner sash. This is used to check the size matches.
  2. Markings are made for fastening, as well as points for the cord and control handle, after which holes with a diameter of about 5 mm are drilled.
  3. The brackets are inserted into the calipers, the cords and control handles are brought out, with the cord through the lower hole.
  4. Inter-frame blinds are mounted on the sash with special inter-frame brackets.
  5. An adapter is installed on the frame, and a control handle is connected to the flexible terminal.
  6. The control handle and cord lock is installed.
  7. The frame twists back.
The blind control element is led out through the frame

As you can see, the technology of installing blinds on plastic windows without drilling is completely unsuitable here. The principle itself is similar to the installation of all other design options, with the only difference being that you have to disassemble the frame, screw the bracket into the interframe space, and remove the controls through the drilled holes.

So that the blinds can serve for a long time for long years, you should follow some operating rules:

  1. When purchasing, you should carefully check the package and all equipment, especially fasteners. They must be of high quality.
  2. You should choose the adjustment mechanism wisely - it should be on the side that is convenient for use.
  3. Make sure that no one opens the windows while the blinds are not yet fully closed.
  4. The rotary handle must not interfere with or touch other fittings.
  5. Don't forget about periodic maintenance.
  6. It is quite possible to install blinds on windows yourself, but it is better to entrust its repair to a professional.
  7. Plastic structures are preferable: they are much easier to care for.
  8. You should not clean the system too often, this will only lead to rapid wear of the protective layer.

Installing the device yourself, as you can see, is not a difficult task at all, be it metal, plastic or wooden blinds on plastic windows. The main thing is to have it on hand quality instructions. Thanks to this material, you can hang your blinds as quickly and efficiently as possible.

How to attach blinds to plastic windows, what should you pay attention to if you carry out installation work yourself, what is the difference between roller and horizontal structures?

Such questions are asked by those who decide to change the interior, replace traditional fabric curtains with their modern analogues.

Blinds are easy to use, do not interfere with opening windows, and provide good protection from the sun and dust.

There are blinds:

  • Horizontal - the slats (lamellas) are located horizontally, gathering upward during opening;
  • Vertical - the slats are installed vertically, open in one direction or the other, or move apart from the center;
  • Rolled - presented in the form of a single sheet, which is rolled into a roll as needed;
  • Pleated fabrics are characterized by a corrugated texture, treated with a special composition for strength. There are horizontal, vertical, and can be assembled into an accordion.

All these types can be:

  • wooden;
  • plastic;
  • aluminum;
  • fabric;
  • bamboo.

The choice depends on your preferences and financial capabilities.

Instructions for installing blinds yourself

The very first step is determining the dimensions. You can attach curtains to a window opening, wall, or ceiling. Having determined their future location, it is necessary to take correct measurements.

To secure the curtains to the opening, you need to take the following measurements. Determine the length - it will be equal to the height window glass with insulation (usually a strip of rubber) plus 1 cm.

Width is defined as the width of the glass, but taking into account sealing gum. Don't forget that the plastic window should open freely when the blinds are assembled.

If you are going to attach curtains to the wall, then please note that they must completely cover the plastic window. The width will be 10 centimeters wider than the window.

The length, taking into account the cornice, increases by about 5 centimeters; its final size depends on whether the shutters cover the window sill or are located just above it.

When blinds are attached directly to plastic windows, the length will be its height and the width will be equal to the width of the window being closed.

We use the drilling method

You can fasten the structure using drilling tools, or do without them.

Let's look at how to properly hang horizontal curtains with your own hands directly to the window sash using the drilling method.

Since the curtains are attached to self-tapping screws, we mark their installation locations by applying top bar blinds to the top window profile. Use a small drill to make holes and attach the brackets.

We fix the blinds and attach the fishing line that will hold the slats. On the lower part of the sash, again by drilling, we make two holes, placing them exactly under the upper exits.

We fix the fishing line in the structure of the blinds, fix the ends with plugs and thread them into the prepared holes, stretch the fishing line.

The drilling method discussed is usually used when it is necessary to hang rolled or horizontal structures.

This method is also used to hang vertical curtains. Holes are drilled at the fastening points and mounted using connecting elements.

Installation on brackets

The no-drilling method is used when the blinds will be subject to regular dismantling.

This method is safe and gentle on plastic windows, while installation without drilling is as reliable as the previous option.

During installation, special attention should be paid to fixing the upper part of the curtains. To avoid distortions, be careful when marking.

Features of fastening roll, horizontal and other types

Each type has its own installation characteristics. For example, roller blinds It is better to mount directly on the window sash.

The structure of roller blinds with a different fastening will not allow the window to be opened when they are lowered.

Horizontal ones are universal structures; they can be hung between frames, attached to a wall, ceiling, etc.

The instructions for installing horizontal products cause the least difficulties during installation.

Therefore, if you are thinking about hanging blinds with your own hands, we recommend starting with this type.

Vertical - installation is done only by drilling, attached to the wall, ceiling, upper slope of the window.

It doesn’t matter whether you plan to use roller, horizontal or vertical blinds, they all require careful care. To ensure that your curtains serve you as long as possible, do not forget to wash and clean them.

In conclusion, we invite you to watch a video of a step-by-step installation of the structure on plastic windows with your own hands.
