I saw on the Internet where a kind of ribbon was made from an ordinary plastic bottle. The scope of its use is of course very limited.

Used during construction wooden fence, where he strengthened by tightening the place of the nailed board nail to a horizontal bar. In winter, this section of the fence was constantly covered with a large amount of snow, as a result, many boards flew off the fence, so to speak. I used ordinary iron wire before, but it quickly rusted and became unusable. Buying galvanized is expensive. The tension in the twine weakened over time. As a result, I began to tighten plastic bottles using tape and partially melt them after tying them to secure the connection. This structure stood successfully for one winter.

The method for producing tape from plastic bottles is surprisingly simple and accessible.

You only need two M5 bolts (no more needed) with a length of at least 30mm, two nuts and washers for them, wooden block or board, canvas stationery knife, as well as several larger washers, for example with an 8 mm hole (their number depends on the thickness of the tape being cut).

First, we install the washers large diameter V in this case on the block close to each other and mark the holes with a pencil.

We drill holes with a drill using a 5 mm drill bit.
Insert the bolts.

We insert large diameter washers in two pieces (the number depends on the thickness of the tape you need) so that there is a gap between them.

We insert the stationery knife as shown in the photo.

We put small washers in the bolts and tighten them with nuts (do not overtighten, otherwise the blade will burst).

We cut off the bottom of the bottle and make a small narrow cut in the form of a strip counterclockwise.

We insert the strip into the hole between the large washers of the cutting device and pull without jerking while holding the bottle with the other hand. I first secured the wooden block with a clamp on the table.

Advantages of plastic tape

  • Plastic does not deteriorate when exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Low temperatures do not affect structural integrity.
  • Strong and durable, has an unlimited service life.
  • Withstands high weight loads.
  • Unlimited quantity available.
  • Widely used in construction, decoration, convenient household crafts.

Tape cutting machine

For self-made machine you will need:

  1. A rectangular/square base made of plywood or any surface with a similar structure, at least 20 cm in size.
  2. Large diameter washers, 6-8 pcs.
  3. Small diameter washers, M6 bolts, nuts 2 pcs.
  4. There are 2 types of drills, slightly smaller and larger, suitable for the hole in the washers.
  5. A piece of a stationery knife (the part with the hole)
  6. Screwdriver.
  7. Wrench. Better than a divorce.
  8. Marker.

Manufacturing of the machine:

  • Markings are made on the base - washers are applied tightly in a figure eight, and the location of the future two holes is outlined.
  • Using a screwdriver and a smaller drill, it is done through hole, then changes to a larger drill, and expands to the desired diameter.
  • A bolt is inserted, a washer and nut are secured on the other side of the base wrench. When the bolt is firmly embedded in the base fabric, the washer and nut are unscrewed and removed. The same operation is performed with the second hole.
  • Cutting tape from a plastic bottle can have different widths. It depends on the thickness of the washers placed on top of the bolt.
  • When required amount When the washers are installed on the bolt, a stationery knife is put on, the cutting end of which should touch the second bolt.
  • The structure is secured from above with several more bolts. They will act as a knife retainer and initial plastic tape.

The machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle is ready; to check it, the bottom of the bottle is cut off and an incision is made with scissors or a knife. This start of super strong rope is slipped between the bolts. The neck is held parallel to the table, and a ribbon of the required thickness is pulled freely by hand.

Cutting tape from a plastic bottle is also possible in another way.

You will need:

  • Part construction corner 20-30 cm long.
  • Construction/stationery knife blade.
  • Nuts 2 pcs. size m 5.
  • Hairpin m 5.
  • Drill
  • Drill.
  • Hacksaw for metal.

Manufacturing

  1. Drill a through hole in the corner that matches the diameter of the hole in the stationery knife.
  2. Stepping back the width of the nut, a hacksaw makes cuts of varying depths equal to the width of the required tape. The optimal range is from 1 mm to 10-12 mm. It will be necessary to process the edges so that the resulting product is smooth without any snags.
  3. The knife is inserted into the corner, aligned with the pin, and the structure is secured with nuts.
  4. The resulting device will need a stable base. A wooden block or log on which the corner is attached.

The bottom of the bottle is cut off, itself plastic container is put on a hairpin, the beginning of the future tape is separated with scissors, which is threaded into the notch of the required thickness. Both hands are free, wind the resulting tape. This machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle is better than the previous one, thanks to the ability to obtain cuts different thicknesses, and there is no need to reduce or increase the number of bolts as in the first option.

From such a cheap and durable material You can create unique designer interior items, furniture and stationery accessories.

Application of plastic bottle tape

It’s surprising that plastic bottles, which are thrown into general trash or simply left in nature: in forests, on lakes, in parks - and cause a lot of harm to the environment and the aesthetic appearance of recreational areas, can bring a lot of benefits. One of the applications, more precisely the transformation of plastic bottles into useful material, this is the creation of PET tape from them. It is this tape that we will now talk about.

To cut tape from plastic bottles you will need a simple device: special machine. On the website Visiting Samodelkin, several options for such a machine are already presented, which are easy both to manufacture and to use.
Option #1
Option No. 2
Option No. 3

PET tape is very useful thing and finds more and more new applications in the economy. Wrapping the handles of hammers and axes with PET tape will protect them from chips and dents. Over the years, the protective handles on pliers, wire cutters, and other tools tend to fall apart. Wrapping such tools with PET tape will be more durable, as the material is more resistant to low temperatures and ultraviolet.

When heated, the PET tape thickens and shortens. Using this property it is easy to do detachable connection almost any details. This connection is very strong. Even without half the parts, trestles made of poles and plastic tape can withstand the dynamic loads of an adult’s weight.

Heat shrink tightens no worse than a bolted connection. By connecting ordinary willow branches with PET tape, you can make a durable garden chair. The contour of the structure is not closed, despite this, the structure looks rigid and reliable.

You can also use the tape as a temporary clamp. A loop made from such a tape can withstand heavy loads and will not move or slip anywhere. Besides, I don’t feel sorry for her.

You can use this tape to tie foundation reinforcement.

The thinnest ribbon can be confused with fishing line; it can be successfully used on a donk. It was tested that fish up to 2 kg could not break such a fishing line.

You can use PET tape to make a broom that you can use to clean concrete paths on summer cottage or paths made of paving slabs.
DIY MK Broom made from plastic bottles

Of course, the tape can be used in decorative purposes. Here are some examples:

Machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle

We'll tell you how to make a machine for cutting durable tape from Pet bottles. It's no secret that a polyethylene bottle has the ability to shrink when heated. Many people use it as heat shrink material. To do this you will need a bottle cutter.

Material: corner 100 x 50, a piece of square pipe, a pin with a diameter of 8 mm, the remains of a sheet 3 millimeters thick, a tube with internal diameter 9 mm, two M5 bolts with square nuts, the same studs with a diameter of 8 millimeters and a length of 60 mm, cutting tool.

See further what comes out of this on the video of the “Homemade Vitmana” channel. The master will make the machine from an ordinary square pipe 25 x 50. It is better to use a U-shaped aluminum profile, the master did not find one. Therefore, it is used as a workpiece square pipe. It will have to be cut in half. A corner cut from a 160 x 80 pipe will be welded to it. There will be a hole around the perimeter to secure it to the table. I made the machine stand from a square tube and cut the slots with a hacksaw. This was the hardest part of making the jig. I welded a corner at the bottom. Drilled a hole for mounting to a wall or other place. I put a pin with a diameter of 8 mm to put on the tube.

I screwed the blade onto the bolt. I drilled a hole with a diameter of M5 and clamped it with a bolt so that the blade did not vibrate. I screwed the mount under the drum through the gasket to the side. M6 bolts. A drum made of two plates 3 millimeters thick. I drilled holes in them for the studs and screwed them together.

I made a handle from a sheet of C grade, bent it, tightened the pin and nut, and put on the tube so that it could be rotated well.

From 4 minutes on, the video shows how a machine for producing plastic rope works.

Bottle tape winding machine

Today we will show you how to modernize manual bottle cutters and demonstrate a prototype of the machine. Principle winding machine simple and obvious - this is winding the resulting PET tape from plastic bottles directly onto reels. This is more relevant for obtaining a larger number of plastic strips and the most popular ones are not wide up to 3 mm, which is long, tedious and still needs to be rolled by hand.

The solution is simple and obvious - you need to use a stand or frame for both the reel and the bottle cutter itself, or simply fix it separately. On a quick fix made a prototype. Use a stool as a frame. A sharpener cutter with side cuts, the width of the tape at different cuts is approximately from 1 mm to 3 mm. You can use any bottle cutter to cut easily, accurately and without breaks.

The pin shaft rotates through improvised bushings in office clips, which is convenient for quickly replacing coils. We use the necks of the plastic bottles themselves. Removable handle and you can connect a screwdriver.

Some nuances have emerged that need to be taken into account in the future. A reel of necks is not very suitable; it is advisable to make the diameter larger than that of bottles, otherwise the wide tape will unwind itself. It is also necessary to select the distance from the reel to the cutter, it is convenient for winding, it weakens jerks, improves accuracy and quality. Connecting the drill should be done through a reduction gear. If you take this issue seriously, you need to increase the dimensions of the frame and coil itself, replace the bushings with bearings, add a laying mechanism, select the type of cutter and allocate space for all this.

Let's sketch out a few simple ones quick options machine tools TO cutting table, deck or stump, screw the bottle cutter itself and two slats or corners for the reel. Attach a bottle cutter and two slats to the board, secure it to the base, say, on the table with clamps. You can make a frame with slats alone and even reinforce it with jumpers and a cross-shaped truss; attach the frame to the table with clamps. Use as a frame for trestles, furniture (stool, chair, table), etc. Use an inertial fishing reel and attach a bottle cutter directly to the spinning rod.

There are many options, but the meaning is the same. In total, with a little effort and ingenuity, it is easy to simplify and speed up the process of dissolving bottles into ribbons and coiling, as well as winding and rewinding ropes or twines, etc. There is room to turn around...

For now, this is a simple prototype, and in this case there are plans to further develop the topic at a higher quality level. Vitaly and the Master Bobrov channel were with you.

Machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle

One of global problems The advice of society is waste disposal. Proper application household waste will help you not only do environment much cleaner, but also solve many problems without special effort and costs. We want to give you one of these useful tips how to properly recycle plastic bottles, and what can be made from them.

Plastic bottle tape:

You can make many useful things from a plastic bottle, and one of these simple crafts is a very strong ribbon.

Figure No. 1 – Tape from a plastic bottle

One plastic bottle will yield about ten meters of such tape (depending on thickness). And you can cut such a tape not only with scissors, I recommend you do it special device, a machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle.

Figure No. 2 – Machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle

In order to make it you will need a blade from a paper knife, wooden stand, two bolts, two nuts and about fourteen wide washers.

First you need to mark your platform, to do this, attach two washers (leave a gap of about two millimeters between them) and drill holes with a suitable drill.

Be careful, the blade is very sharp, don't cut yourself! Having put on the blade and installed it in such a way that it can be clamped with washers, put several washers on top of each bolt (five pieces)

Figure No. 8 – Fix the blade with washers and tighten the nuts tightly

I had washers of a narrow diameter, and I didn’t want to break the blade of the knife, but in general I recommend taking a narrow blade and wide washers so that it would be well hidden there and you wouldn’t cut yourself on the blade. And also remember that the nuts must be tightened very tightly so that your blade does not tear out!

Everything is done very simply, you just need to cut the bottle and pass it through the blade.

DIY plastic bottle cutter

There are many devices on the Internet to cut plastic tapes and ropes or even fishing line from bottles. Among them there are many complex devices and simple ones.

Rope made from a plastic bottle. Production and Application

But this cutter is distinguished by its ingenious simplicity and elegance. Well, you don’t need to grind any parts for it, everything is at home or can be bought very cheaply. The main thing is that you can make it yourself in literally minutes. With it you can adjust the width of the tape and make it in different sizes.

Just look what this Chinese store has for the garden.

What tools and parts are needed to make this simple cutter?

This is the blade that will perform the actions. A utility knife or, as in this case, a pencil sharpener will do. You need washers and 2 screws. All you need is a screwdriver.

Using a screwdriver, remove the blade from the sharpener. And now we need to decide what width the tape will be cut from PET bottles. By combining washers, the height and width of the rope are adjusted.

For the product you will need a table into which you don’t mind driving a couple of screws. Although, you can place a board under the machine and fasten it to the table with clamps.

When a place for the cutting machine has been found, screw in two self-tapping screws with washers at a distance from each other. Set the blade to the desired height and tighten it with self-tapping screws.

Now we prepare a blank for cutting rope from a plastic bottle. Carefully separate the bottom using a stationery knife. The cut should be smooth. We fill the workpiece into the cutter. We process the one and a half rack with our own hands and a simple machine. To make the thread even, press a little from above. We pull the finished tape from the machine with a cutter.

With the beginning summer season Another avalanche of empty PET bottles is rolling in. Like Colorado beetles, these bottles penetrate into all corners of the country: into cities and villages, streets and squares, parks and beaches, entrances and basements, etc. I once saw an almost thriller-like story on TV - tens of hectares of the river bordering Slovakia are covered with a decent layer of PET bottles. The picture is not for the faint of heart.
The authorities, environmentalists and a huge number of other specialists are constantly looking for an opportunity to solve this problem, or one might even say “catastrophe”. I decided to join them too. If something is lying under your feet, then no one needs it anymore. Therefore, if you make something useful out of PET bottles, they will very soon disappear from under your feet. I make transparent slate for the roof from plastic bottles. From traditional industrial method, which is very complex, energy-intensive and expensive, mine is simple and affordable.

IN empty bottles I cut out the cylindrical part. The resulting cylinders are cut vertically into 2-3 (or even more, depending on the volume of bottles) plates.

The plates are fastened together in longitudinal intermediate rows, i.e. I connect them together along the length.
I connect the intermediate rows to each other in the transverse direction so that the protrusion is followed by a depression, etc.
As a result, sheets are formed like slate, but they have significant advantages:

  1. Firstly, slate made from plastic bottles is much lighter than any other covering material.
  2. They have high ductility and flexibility, which is convenient for installation.
  3. Slate made from plastic bottles is transparent, making it great for covering greenhouses.
  4. And most importantly - cheapness.

I connect the plates with silicone or glue, but you can connect the plates using heat treatment, although it's pretty labor-intensive process. Most reliable way connections – combined – adhesive + mechanical.

Plastic, money - two hands

Anyone who is not lazy can make such sheets, right in the kitchen, while watching TV.

Scope of use of sheets

For those who have at least a piece of land - these are greenhouses, fruit dryers, fences, shelters for haylofts, fuel, auxiliary buildings, etc. - as far as imagination and imagination is enough. And for amateur winegrowers there is a broad prospect of making fuller use of the opportunities to grow grapevine under the screen according to the method of Kharkovchanin L.S. Shugin. Those who do not have land can make them for sale, exchange food from peasants, etc. For the poor and needy, such a trade can become good source income, and perhaps for some it will be good business.
Thus, PET bottles can easily turn from enemies into human friends. And what our country will be like tomorrow, a big landfill or a beautiful greenhouse-oasis, depends on each of us.

Bottle cutter smooth and precise adjustment to any width of PET tape made from plastic bottles with your own hands.

Manufacturing https://youtu.be/2q33C-V6Phw

The final version of this design https://youtu.be/hgfBCfjWHKE

I have already demonstrated up to a dozen simple bottle cutters for plastic bottles using improvised means (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQQ5Gr75kxbW6mjkeY_wIE7AJxjlKqvJe). And now I have made a prototype of a universal cutter with a smoothly and accurately variable width of PET tape. The concept is very simple - use a bolt and smoothly change the width of the tape. In this case, rotating the nut along the bolt with a longitudinal cut.

I used a metric M6 bolt with a thread pitch of 1mm, so a full turn of the nut is 1mm on the tape. The blade itself is located perpendicular to the cut and rests against the thread. It is fixed at the back with two bolts and by moving these nuts the angle of attack of the blade is adjusted. On this side, there was an improvised stop to prevent the bottle from bouncing and a clamp at the same time, just testing how it cuts without cutting directly along the bolt. I also made a guide for the bottle and a knob for safety from wire.

Let's start by setting the ribbon width. I unscrew the nut all the way to the blade, check the angle of attack of the blade by eye, put a temporary mark on the nut, and make three full turns down. I'm trying to cut the tape. If it doesn’t grip the bottle well, then I adjust the angle of attack of the blade and the position of the bottle guides themselves. I check the width. If you need to slightly adjust the width of the tape, I turn the nut a little (one quarter turn is 25 acres), and try a few more times. I note that this will be approximately millimeters. I make a few more intermediate marks. Well let's go 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5.5mm, etc. As long as you cut enough, you can catch dozens.

Cut along the bolt without cutting, from experience I can say that it is not so stable and accurate, but it cuts. It is better to make additional supports for the bottle from wire in the form of an arc or cut off and fix a third of the bottom of the bottle. The bottle will dangle less and the tape will be cut more accurately.

What conclusions did I draw?

I'll start with the cons. Making a longitudinal cut of a bolt on the knees is labor-intensive, it turns out inaccurately, and you need to use something like a small circular saw. For accuracy it is advisable to use drilling machine. I don’t like cutting across; I would call it not cutting, but chopping. You start playing with razor sharp, hardness, as well as the thickness of the blade itself. Otherwise, he begins to bite, pull hard, jerk, or tear the bottle. Thus, in the future I want to change the type of cut, at least to a blade with one-sided sharpening and at an angle, like in a sharpener. Compared to previous bottle cutters, a pencil sharpener with side cuts cuts 1-3mm tape much easier https://youtu.be/_too5BMAPGs. IN Lately I use scissors with a bottle cutter, a little skill and it’s easy to cut high-quality tape of any width, the only thing you can guess is the approximate width and the bottle cutter is manual. https://youtu.be/kEO-4tBR9Fg

This is where the disadvantages end and let’s move on to the advantages of this design. Cuts tape quite well starting from 1.5mm. Almost any width of tape, you can catch dozens.

Machine for cutting tape from a plastic bottle

Accuracy can be increased by using a bolt with a smaller thread, the quality of the cut and assembly, grinding the nut with a flange, adjusting the bottle cutter accordingly, preparing the bottle itself (starting with templates) and it is advisable to still change the type of cutter. As a result, you can achieve excellent results.

As for existing bottle cutters. All I found on this topic on the Internet was changing the width of the PET tape either stepwise, along cuts or with washers, or very roughly. Most can also be slightly improved by using bolts and nuts.

This prototype was made without a drawing on the fly, distances and positions are easily calculated as is.

I plan to choose a cutter for the machine and this topic I will develop it further.

That's all for now. Vitaly and the Master Bobrov channel were with you. Thank you for your attention. Bye.

Everything is done very simply, you just need to cut the bottle and pass it through the blade. Then you just need to pull the extended edge. Attention, the plastic bottle itself can also cut you, I recommend working with protective gloves and being extremely careful.

How to properly cut a 5 liter plastic bottle.

Find out in our new video life hack. We all know how easy it is to cut a plastic bottle, many of us have done it hundreds of times. And if you need to cut not plastic, but glass bottle, can you do it?

Rotating the bottle around its axis parallel to the ground, wait 2-3 minutes and pour water onto the flame. The bottle will burst smoothly.

HOW TO CUT A BOTTLE AND WHAT CAN BE MADE FROM IT

A thin ribbon can even be cut from a corrugated bottle complex shape, while achieving a high degree of recycling of the plastic bottle. 1. Two plastic bottles of arbitrary volume for the reel. 2. Plastic bottles for cutting the ribbon, the longer the ribbon you want to get, the more bottles you will need.

If there is no suitable reel, then you can simply make it yourself from two neck parts of plastic bottles. The covers are connected using plastic rivets.

The number of connection points is at least 3, this is necessary for “non-rotation” when screwing in the conical parts of the bottles. The method for making such durable braid has been known for a long time - spiral cutting of a tape of the required width with scissors from a plastic bottle.

This reel can be used to wind not only plastic braid, but also, for example, stranded wire. 4. A plastic reel is also convenient in that enameled electrical winding wires can be wound onto it.

The operator’s work will consist only of installing the bottle and removing the finished coils of tape from the collapsible reels. I wish it had a machine to weave something out of these ribbons, for example, nets for hammocks.

How to make a bottle cutter with your own hands for cutting tape from plastic bottles

A good device, but there are not so many bottles with a smooth cylindrical part of the same thickness, and with corrugated and curved walls the machine always worse hands and scissors.

And once again, an ordinary plastic bottle helps us with this. Well, you decide for yourself what to make from such plastic tape. For example, you can weave something (a keychain or an animal).

Mesh fence

The knot can be melted, and this tape itself also has excellent heat-shrink properties. Next, we put three washers on the bolts (in the future, we will use these washers to adjust the thickness of the tape), put a blade on top, put one more washer each and clamp it with the thumbs.

You can store the cut tape on a special reel, which is very easy to make. Someone “completed the task and forgot,” but zealous housewives continue to delight their family with fresh herbs “from the windowsill.”
