« Everything flows, everything changes", Heraclitus once said and he was, of course, right! If the famous ancient Greek philosopher knew how quickly everything is changing these days, he would probably take his head in hand. Progress does not stand still, and every day designers come up with new ones useful inventions, which are designed to simplify our life. Thus, what was just a dream yesterday becomes today a reality.

Today the team "So simple!" will introduce you to amazing things from the world's leading designers. Any housewife has long dreamed of many of these inventions. I bet you, you will want to buy some things from this collection right away. And it’s not surprising, because this is everything we’ve been dreaming about for so long.

Unusual inventions for the home

I'm obsessed with the skillet with separate sections and the clear toaster oven! These inventions are both useful and stylish - they will indispensable in any home. If you have any ideas in your head, then quickly bring them to life! Inventing something new is so great...

If you are amazed by these inventions, show others!

This is a real creative laboratory! A team of true like-minded people, each an expert in their field, united by a common goal: to help people. We create materials that are truly worth sharing, and our beloved readers serve as a source of inexhaustible inspiration for us!

We have already raised the topic of why the Russian people with, frankly speaking, specific archetypes live in a country with the most large territory, and at the same time, for centuries, such a sweet piece of land has not been conceded to enemies. You can see unusual examples of Russian archetypes in our Telegram channel, and in this video we will talk about something else, no less important factor influencing the way of life and thoughts of Russian people. We will talk about the harsh winter and what it taught us.

To do this, let's look into the distant past and see how our ancestors learned to survive in the harsh natural conditions of the temperate climate zone, where most of our huge country lies.

The temperate climate zone consists of coniferous, mixed and deciduous forests. These are forest-steppes full of animals and birds. These are fields and meadows covered with berries and mushrooms. Lakes and rivers teeming with fish. People living in these latitudes have been hunters, fishers and gatherers throughout history. So many resources - I don’t want to take them! Almost a heavenly place!

True, there is one problem. All these riches are available to a person only 6, well, maximum 8 months a year. And the rest of the time is a real marathon of survival. After all, we want to eat every day, but Mother Nature has not endowed us with the ability to store fat, as, for example, a bear does.

When cold comes to the temperate climate zone, birds fly to warmer climes. Many animals also go in search of a warm place to spend the winter. And those who remain are no longer so accessible, because in deep snow it is much more difficult for a person to hunt and move. The fish also either falls asleep or hides under a thick layer of ice. There is nothing to say about berries and mushrooms at all.

It is also worth considering that the further you go to the north, the longer the cold period. That is, the usual forms of food production are no longer so effective and feeding yourself and your family becomes an impossible task. What if it's a small community? How then to feed?

There was little choice. Go to warmer climes for potential food or stock up while staying put. Both of these methods have shown their effectiveness, although different conditions, and most importantly, they became the impetus for the further progress of our people.

We will now explain to you why this is so.

The fact is that forests, rivers, hills and lakes became the main natural barriers to active movement. Therefore, only those who lived in open areas, that is, in the steppe, could go after the animals. Surviving in the steppe in winter was also another challenge. But the absence of natural obstacles made it possible to gradually move further south.

The main difficulty here was the speed of movement. Even an adult man is not able to run as fast as a deer or wild boar. What can we say about small children, women and old people. And the belongings and weapons also had to be moved somehow.

The solution to the problem was the domestication of horses, as well as sheep and cows. And if cows and sheep immediately became a source of food and clothing, then people quickly began to use horses as a means of transportation.

Thus, the inhabitants of the steppes were able to wander after wild animals, having already acquired their own herds. Later, hunting ceased to be the main source of food, and moving from place to place was necessary so that their own livestock could feed and survive the winter. After all, most of the vegetation in the steppe is also winter period dries out, the ground freezes and the first green sprouts creep out only in the spring.

Winter in the steppe is another pleasure. Constant piercing winds, which sometimes do not even allow you to light a fire. And there is no way to hide or escape from packs of hungry wolves. So moving south was the only option.

Well, those for whom the route to the south was blocked had to look for other ways to adapt. In areas covered with forests, with a large number of rivers and lakes, the only option for survival was settling down and preparing supplies. Otherwise, death from hunger and cold was guaranteed.

Procuring and storing supplies was also not an easy task. It was necessary to understand what and how to prepare, and where to store it all. It is not difficult to guess that such problems confronted our ancestors with the need to come up with something new, more progressive at that time.

DIY table fan made from CDs (with video)

In the July heat there is a lack of coolness. You can provide yourself with a pleasant breeze with the help of a compact table fan, which is easy to make with your own hands.

Such simple but extremely useful things make life much easier and do not require any special costs. It’s enough to find 2 unnecessary CDs, which almost everyone probably has, and a couple more of these details:

  • a small motor from a toy that a child had long ago thrown into a distant drawer;
  • 2 wires;
  • unnecessary USB connector along with cable;
  • wine cork;
  • ruler;
  • marker;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • cardboard tube from a toilet paper roll.

Making a fan is very simple: using a marker and a ruler, mark one disk into 8 equal parts and cut along the lines, as in the video. To the blades homemade fan turned around, they need to be heated over the fire. The cork should then be securely glued to the center of the disc.

We glue a cardboard sleeve to the second disk. It will serve as a stand for the future fan. We glue a motor to the free end of the bushing, and attach a disk with “blades” to it using a plug. The only thing left to do is connect the motor to the power supply and turn on the small one you made yourself table fan. You can watch the “production” process in more detail in the video.

Floor and walls made of saw cuts (round timber)

You can make not only such simple, but undoubtedly useful inventions for your home with your own hands. If you have imagination and the ability to handle carpentry tools, you can completely decorate your home - decorate the walls and floor of the house, create decorative wooden panels, furniture, even original stands for pens and pencils.

If your house or dacha has recently undergone renovations and there is wood left that has nowhere to go, it is worth sawing it into small “round pieces”. It is very good if there are remains of trees of different diameters (not only trunks, but also thick and thin branches). All this is an excellent material for decoration. Larger diameter cuts will serve as the base; Smaller diameter rounds are suitable for filling the gaps between them.

First, clean the floor surface and lay the saw cuts on it. After all the space is filled and the drawing of the future flooring from natural wood becomes clear, you need to glue each cut to the floor. You can use liquid nails for this.

When the glue has dried, the wood should be sanded (you will need Sander), fill the space between the cuts with grout for ceramic tiles and when it dries, apply 3-4 layers thickly to the resulting coating polyurethane varnish for wood. Each layer must be allowed to dry thoroughly. The floor is ready!

Smokehouse made from flower pots

There are even more unusual, but very useful inventions for the home. For example, if you have 2 large flower pots and a small electric stove, you can build a small home smokehouse. One pot will serve as a lid to which you need to attach a handle.

Another flower pot will be directly the smokehouse.
Its bottom will need to be covered with a steel plate and an electrical wire connected to it through a hole in the bottom of the pot. An electric stove is placed inside the pot and wiring is connected to it. You need to put a small steel baking tray on the tile, pour shavings into it and cover the whole thing with a wire rack. The miniature smokehouse is ready. All these simple inventions will come in very handy in the household.

The human capacity for creativity is an amazing thing. Of course, to evaluate ideas in mathematics or chemistry, you need specialized knowledge, which I don’t have, but the more acute is the feeling of admiration that you experience when faced with a new vision of the most ordinary things. You look and think about how brilliantly simple it is, but this would never have occurred to me in my life. It's good that such people exist - designers. Firmly convinced that you can create something that will change the lives of many people? Then what are you waiting for?! Follow these simple steps to create your own invention and present it to the world.

Steps

Present your invention

    Search for ideas. The first step to creating a unique and useful invention is an idea. Define your area of expertise - what do you know the most about? What do you like best? In order to invent something, you must have an extensive knowledge base on the subject. Otherwise, you may have great idea, but you won't know how to implement it.

    • Make a list of things that interest you. This could include hobbies, professions, or things you do every day.
    • For each activity or item, you need to make a list of improvements that can qualify as an invention. For example, a possible variety of an object, or activity, or additional functions.
    • Make an impressive list. It's better to have too many ideas than too few, so keep going until you've run out of options.
    • Keep a notebook with you at all times so you can add new ideas to it at any time. Keeping all your ideas in one place will make your life much easier and will help you organize your existing data and allow you to revise your list later.
    • Don't rush the process of finding new ideas. Inspiration doesn't just strike out of the sky; it may take weeks or months before you come up with something brilliant.
  1. Decide on an idea. After making a list of all possible ideas, choose the best one to invent. Now you can start thinking about the details of the project. Draw some sketches or how you imagine your invention, and then keep a few things in mind.

    • What can you add to improve this item? What is special about your invention that people will undoubtedly give preference to it in their lives? Why is your invention so great?
    • Think about the changes you can make. What parts of your invention are redundant or unnecessary? Is there a way to make it more efficient and cheaper to produce?
    • Consider all aspects of your invention, including all necessary materials and details of how it will work. Write down all your thoughts in a notebook so you can refer back to them later.
  2. Do research on the invention. When you are confident in your invention and have taken everything into account necessary details, you should do some research on it to make sure it is truly unique. If a similar thing has already been patented, then you will not be able to mass produce or patent it.

    • Search the Internet for products that have a similar description to your invention. If you already have a name for your invention, do a search for it as well to make sure it hasn't been used before.
    • Visit stores that sell products similar to yours. See if they have similar products, and also ask the store staff if they plan to sell them in the near future.
    • Go to your nearest patent office. Here you can make full search patents for any inventions similar to yours. You can also ask staff or consultants to help you in your search.
    • Conduct a thorough qualitative search to ensure that there is nothing similar to your invention on the market.
    • Methodology for obtaining patents in different countries has its own characteristics.

    Patenting an invention

    1. Document your invention thoroughly. You don't have to be the first person to come up with the thing to get a patent, but you still need to document detailed information about the invention, including it specifications and possible uses.

      • Record the entire process of creating an invention. Start with how you came up with the idea, what inspired you, how long it took, and why you want to do it.
      • Make a list of all the things that are needed to create, i.e. list of components and materials.
      • Write a report on your research - that you have not found any products on the market similar to yours in concept and design that have already been patented. You need to prove that your invention is unique to get a patent.
      • Determine the commercial value of your invention. You must pay a certain amount to obtain a patent if you do not use the services of a patent lawyer. Before paying this amount, calculate the commercial value of your invention and the potential revenue from its sale. This way you can determine how much potential revenue exceeds patent costs.
      • Create a drawing of your invention. A sketch or technical drawing of the item may be required to obtain a patent. If you don't know how to draw, you can ask a friend or relative to help you with this.
    2. Use the services of a patent lawyer. Although this can be very expensive, his help is invaluable. His main task is to help you obtain a patent and resolve all controversial issues.

      • Patent lawyers can always give advice based on latest changes in patent laws so you always have the latest information.
      • If someone infringes on your patent after you have received it, your lawyer will help you legally resolve the issue or take legal action if necessary.
      • If your invention is in the technology category, a patent lawyer can help you determine if other companies have similar technology inventions in the pipeline. Today, technology is one of the fastest growing areas of life, so obtaining a patent in it is much more difficult than in others.
    3. Make a provisional patent application. A provisional patent application indicates that your invention is being patented. This means that no one else can copy your idea while your patent application is being processed.

      • This step is optional, but it will save you from possible disappointment if someone right in front of you manages to patent the same idea as yours.
      • You will need to pay an amount of $65-$260, depending on the activity you are involved in and the subject matter you want to patent.
    4. Apply for a patent. Once you have all the information regarding your invention, you need to file a patent application. To do this, you can contact the appropriate office. Just fill out all the required fields and provide all necessary information before submitting your application.

    Make your invention a reality

    1. Create a prototype. Once your patent is effective, it is time to begin producing a working model of the invention. Don't worry about expensive materials or labor-intensive process, just make a model from available funds.

      • You don't have to build your prototype from the same materials as for mass production, unless you have to.
      • If you cannot create a prototype on your own, you can contact a company with an offer to make one for you. However, this can be quite expensive, so try to make a prototype yourself.
    2. Make a presentation. With a patent and prototype in hand, you are already on the path to success! The next step is to create a presentation that highlights all the benefits of your invention. You can show it to a potential manufacturer and buyer, including creating different versions of the presentation for different target audiences.

      • Make sure your presentation is complete professional level- no matter how you created it. You can do it as a video, a PowerPoint document, or live using a presentation board.
      • Use a lot useful information, diagrams and images. Be sure to cover the technical specifications of your invention, its uses, and its long-term benefits.
      • Although not required, you can hire graphic designer to create an impressive presentation. The more visually interesting it is, the more interest manufacturers and buyers will show.
      • Also make sure that you have carefully crafted your presentation speech. It is not enough to have beautiful graphs and images, you also need to be a good speaker. It is not necessary to write down your speech - you can write a brief talking point - but have an idea of what you want to say in the presentation, and prepare answers to any questions that may be asked.
    3. Present your invention to the manufacturer. Find local manufacturers who create products similar to yours and ask them to make your product. Most likely, you will first need to send them a letter explaining who you are and what you want from them.

      • After receiving a response to your letter, prepare your presentation. You will most likely need to go to their company and present your invention, explaining what exactly you want from them.
