The issue of water supply to a suburban area must be resolved, otherwise there is no need to even talk about minimal comfort. If you need water and your budget is limited, it’s time to think about a low-cost technical structure that is accessible to most summer residents. Moreover, the technology with which you can install an Abyssinian well with your own hands is not particularly complicated. This type of well or igloo well, as it is also called, was invented by the Americans back in the 19th century, and received its exotic name after the British began to use it in Abyssinia (Ethiopia).

Initially, an Abyssinian well was a shallow well with hand pump, which pumps water from a sandy aquifer. This differs from an ordinary well in that the water in it is very clean. It is not clogged with dirt, drains, spores and water. First appearing in Russia in the 19th century, this structure is still a success today.

However, before you begin to implement your plan, you need to take an interest in the geology of your area. As a rule, neighbors who have owned plots nearby for a long time are aware of the location of soil layers and the depth of aquifers. They have already made their own choice in favor of a well or a well.

The choice of structure that is used as the optimal source of water on the site largely depends on the geology of the area

You can start constructing an Abyssinian well only if the upper aquifer is located no deeper than 8 m from the ground surface. From greater depths, lifting water using a surface pump can be problematic. If the aquifer lies lower, you should drill a well into sand of a larger diameter or deepen the pump.

The aquifer that the well will target should be medium-grained sand or a mixture of crushed stone and sand. Water can flow freely through such soil, so it will not be difficult to pump it out. The layers located above the aquifer interest us only in terms of their permeability. And the tool that will be used in the work will not be able to penetrate deposits of boulders and pebbles or hard rocky layers. To carry out such drilling operations, special equipment is required.

Material about ways to find water on the site will also be useful:

Advantages of this type of water supply

The likelihood that an Abyssinian well can be built on your property is very high if your dacha neighbors already have similar wells.

One of the significant advantages of the Abyssinian well is that it can be built both on the site and in the house

The advantages of such a structure can hardly be overestimated:

  • the design is simple and inexpensive;
  • to arrange this well you do not need a lot of space: the construction does not violate the integrity of the landscape;
  • no equipment or access roads are needed for its arrival;
  • the pump can be mounted both on site and indoors;
  • the entire work will take no more than 10 hours: it all depends on the depth of the water carrier and the hardness of the soil;
  • a high-quality filter prevents silting, which allows the structure to operate for a long time;
  • no pollution from the surface of the earth gets into the well;
  • The quality of water from such a well is comparable to that of a spring;
  • the needle well provides a continuous supply of a volume of water, which is enough for both watering the site and for household needs: the flow rate of an average well is approximately 0.5-3 cubic meters per hour;
  • The device can be easily dismantled and installed in another location.

Abyssinian wells are not as deep as traditional sand wells, so they are less likely to contain dissolved iron. This means that there is no need for expensive filters when using them.

Abyssinian well lifts water from an aquifer that is deep enough to provide normal work any plumbing and watering of the site

How to carry out work without special equipment?

An Abyssinian well can be easily made using special equipment. But buying such mechanisms specifically for a single well is unprofitable, and inviting specialists is expensive. The construction of a needle well can be done with your own hands and using only a tool that is already available or can be purchased inexpensively.

Preparing the necessary tools and material

The Abyssinian well kit includes:

  • drill and grinder;
  • hammer and sledgehammer;
  • a pair of gas keys;
  • to hammer the pipe you need pancakes from a barbell of 20-40 kg;
  • welding machine;
  • garden auger 15 cm in diameter;
  • pipes: ½ inch 3-10 meters long, ¾ inch – 1 meter;
  • 1 inch pipe for the well, which should be cut into pieces of 1-1.5 m and have a short thread on each side;
  • nuts and bolts 10;
  • stainless steel galloon mesh P48, 16 cm wide and 1 m long;
  • car clamps 32 sizes;
  • couplings: 3-4 cast iron couplings for driving pipes, as well as steel couplings for connecting pipes;
  • two meters of wire 0.2-0.3 mm in diameter;
  • check valve, HDPE pipes and couplings, .

In any city there is a market or hardware store where you can cut threads and purchase all these materials and tools.

Making your own filter

The filter requires an inch pipe approximately 110 cm long, to which a cone-shaped tip is welded. This tip is called the Abyssinian well needle. If there is none, you can simply flatten the end of the pipe with a sledgehammer. Using a grinder, we cut slots on both sides of the pipe over 80 cm, 1.5-2 cm long, about 2-2.5 cm long. It is important that the overall strength of the pipe is not compromised. We wind the wire onto the pipe, after which we put a mesh on it and fix it with clamps after about 8-10 cm. The mesh can also be soldered if you have certain skills.

In America, for example, a filter for an Abyssinian well is made with internal mesh and wire, which is located above and below the mesh

It is important to know that solders with lead should not be used to prevent toxic substances from entering the water. Only special flux and tin solder are used for the work.

Drilling technology

We drill the soil using garden borer, expanding it with a pipe structure. To do this, ½-inch pipes are connected with couplings made of ¾-inch pipes and 10-inch bolts. Holes must be pre-drilled at the fastening points. The drilling process continues until wet sand appears, which will flow into the surface of the drill. That's it, further drilling is pointless, because the wet sand will go back into the well.

We clog the pipe with the filter

We connect the pipe sections with the filter using couplings, not forgetting to screw the FUM tape onto the threads. The resulting structure of pipes with a filter is lowered to the sand, and a cast iron coupling is screwed onto it. Pancakes from the bar are placed on the cast iron coupling. An axis is passed through their center, along which the pancakes will slide, clogging the pipe. The axle consists of a 5-foot piece of ½-inch diameter pipe with a bolt at the end.

The finished well needle does not take up much space and does not spoil appearance plot: if desired, it can be decorated with a canopy; it is very advisable to build a concrete platform around it

With each blow of the pancake, the pipe should sink a few centimeters. When half a meter from the sand level has been passed, you can try pouring some water into the pipe. If the water disappears, it means the sand has accepted it. The sand aquifer is capable of absorbing water at the same rate as it releases it.

Pumping a finished well

We install a check valve, then a pumping station. We use HDPE pipes and make sure that the entire structure is airtight. We fill the pumping station with water and connect a piece of hose to the outlet. The pump can be started. Do not be alarmed when air comes out of the well, and then muddy water. That's how it should be. Coming soon pure water, the quality of which can be verified by doing an analysis or simply boiling it.

This is what an Abyssinian well looks like if it was installed in the garden and equipped with a hand pump: the summer resident no longer depends on the watering time set by SNT

There should be no drainage ditches or manure pits near the site of active water intake. A small concrete platform, which is built around the well and located just above the soil surface, will ensure the drainage of rainwater.

A well is a rather expensive structure, which requires special equipment and certain skills during its manufacture. Moreover, if the level of aquifers is no deeper than 15 meters, then you can use the simplest design, which was used in ancient times.

This is why many owners garden plots and private houses are interested in how to make an igloo well with your own hands.

Step by step process

To begin with, it should be said that this type of structure is not suitable for every area.. The level of the first aquifer should be no deeper than 15 meters. In this case, the soil should not contain hard rocks or black clay.

Preparation

  • First of all, a needle for the well is made from ordinary inch pipe.
  • At its end a kind of pike is installed, like on a spear, which it is advisable to sharpen well.
  • The pipe is perforated at a distance of 20 cm from the peak. In this case, the holes should be randomly located so as not to weaken the product. This area should occupy 20-30 cm in length.
  • It is worth noting that a 15 meter pipe is quite difficult to install. However, such a length may not be required. Therefore, pieces are usually used that are connected to each other by welding.
  • IN Lately To fasten the segments to each other, threaded fittings are used. However, they should only be installed via a coupling.

  • It is desirable that the first segment have the maximum available length, since it will bear the main loads. It is also worth remembering that the needle water well may have a depth of only 7 meters and therefore the rest of the material may not be needed.
  • Special attention should be paid to the functional load of the pipe. In wells of this type it is both casing and main, which means you should not choose thin-walled material.

Advice!
Some craftsmen strongly recommend installing a mesh at the bottom of such a pipe, which will serve as a filter.
However, this should not be done, since it will quickly clog and replacement will be very problematic.
In these designs, it is better to use a filter on a pump or pump for the well, although products with large cells or wire-based can be installed, but only outside.

Manufacturing

  • It is worth noting that the water in the country and plot of land extracted from wells belongs to the state, since it belongs to the category of minerals. Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to obtain the appropriate documentation.
  • It is also advisable to have special equipment for drilling a well. If it is not available, then you can invite specialists for an appropriate fee or rent a similar unit.

  • It must be said that it is quite possible to do without special equipment, but then you need to have a certain tool for self made. However, its use is considered very labor-intensive process, although the price of such independent work will turn out to be small.
  • First, you should drill a hole with a diameter slightly smaller or the same as the pipe. Professional craftsmen claim that a depth of 5-8 meters is usually sufficient. However, not everyone can afford such equipment and therefore they make it as large as possible, even if it is only 3 meters.

  • On next stage A pre-prepared pipe is inserted into the hole, with the sharp end down.
  • When it reaches the bottom of the well, it is driven into the ground using a percussion tool until it reaches the aquifer. This will be expressed by the fact that water will begin to appear inside.

  • After this, the installation instructions recommend digging a well 1 meter deep around it, which is concreted and equipped with a lid. This design will serve as the basis water well.
  • Then an external pump, filter and hydraulic accumulator are installed in the well. Wherein professional craftsmen It is recommended to purchase these products assembled, which will be much more practical and economical.

  • You can also install a hand pump, which was used back in the century before last. She doesn't need electrical energy and can be used in extreme situations.
  • It should be noted that water from such sources very often carries rain masses, which, after passing through the ground, are purified. However, in order to be sure of its quality, it is worth doing an analysis. The fact is that sources of this type are quite specific and can often contain water that is not suitable for drinking.
  • It is worth remembering that a well is a structure that needs sanitary zone. It is best to fence it off with a small fence to prevent accidental contamination of the area.

Advice!
When driving the pipe into the ground, you must be very careful not to bend it or damage the junction of the segments.
Therefore, it is recommended to use a special percussion instrument or make a wooden backing.

The needle well, also known as the Abyssinian well (AK), is a pipe with a diameter of 40-70 mm submerged to a depth of 8-10 meters, at the end of which a conical sieve-shaped tip is installed. Water is drawn from such a well using a pump or a hand pump mounted at its mouth.

In this article we will tell you how to make an Abyssinian well with your own hands. You will learn the advantages and disadvantages of this design, receive recommendations for choosing a pump and driving a pipe, and also be able to familiarize yourself with diagrams that explain in detail the process of constructing a needle well.

1 Device, advantages and disadvantages

The first Abyssinian wells were used in the 70s of the last century during the British military campaign against Ethiopia. In dry climates African country the soldiers desperately needed a universal source of water supply, the arrangement of which would not take much time. It was possible to make such a source by drilling a well in the ground using a Norton projectile, which provided almost 2 buckets of drinking water per minute.

The Abyssinian well is widely used to this day, remaining one of the simplest in the world. The cost of equipping a turnkey needle well varies between 15-20 thousand rubles, another 5 thousand will need to be spent on a simple surface pump. If, then the final costs can be reduced to 10 thousand. Low price installation is the key advantage of this source; for comparison, prices for the construction of a conventional well start at 40 thousand.

Installation of an Abyssinian well does not require the use of expensive equipment. The hole is made through the usual percussion-rope drilling, which requires the efforts of two adult men to complete. You can also do the installation of the UDC yourself or rent it. The depth of the aquifer in the central part of Russia is 5-10 meters; it is possible to drill a well to such a depth in one working day.

The advantages of AK also include:

  • long service life, which can reach 30 years;
  • the minimum dimensions of the well allow it to be made directly in the basement of a house or cottage;
  • subject to installation technology - clean water;
  • no need to obtain permits, as is the case with the installation of deeper wells.

This water source also has its drawbacks. First of all, let us highlight its situational nature - it makes sense to build such a structure only in coarse-grained sands and bedrock; in all other types of soil it will have insufficient flow or will quickly silt up.

It is also worth considering that the quality of water obtained from surface soil layers varies greatly in different places. Such a well must be located at a sufficient distance from any sources of pollution, as well as from natural bodies of water. (at least 5 meters).

1.2 Tools and materials for AK installation

To build an Abyssinian well with your own hands, you will need the following set of materials:

  1. A needle is a cone-shaped tip that is placed on a pipe string, due to the sharpness of which the casing is more effectively driven into the ground. There are increased demands on the strength of the needle, so it makes sense to buy it in a ready-made form, but if you have lathe and welding equipment, you can do it yourself. The length of the needle should be 15-20 cm, the diameter should be 20-30 mm larger than the diameter of the pipes. The needle is fixed to the pipes using a threaded connection.
  2. Water intake main - a column of interconnected casing pipes through which water is supplied. Most often, pipes with a diameter of 40-70 mm are used, joined together using threads or couplings, the joint is sealed rubber seals or flax tow.
  3. The filter is a perforated pipe installed on the lower section of the main line. The filter removes mechanical impurities and sand from the water entering the column. The pitch of the holes is selected based on the specific diameter of the pipe, the average distance is 5 mm. On the outside, the section is wrapped with a special filter mesh for wells, which is attached to the pipe using wire.

You will also need a pump to supply water from the Abyssinian well. Here it is necessary to use a surface-type pump, since the diameter of the water intake column will not be enough to accommodate submersible pumps.

An interesting fact is that even powerful modern surface pumps cannot lift water from a depth of more than 9 meters - this imposes a limit on the maximum depth of the needle well. We recommend buying a centrifugal pump with a capacity of 30-40 l/min and a head of 20-30 m. Give preference to equipment from trusted manufacturers - Grundfos, Gardena, Hitachi. The cost of such equipment varies within 10 thousand.

A special headstock is used to drive pipes. You can buy it, rent it, or make it yourself. At self-production made of steel square profile you need to weld a tripod about 2 meters high. At the top of the tripod there should be a block with rollers for hanging the weighting material (headstock) using cables.

The headstock itself can be made from a concreted pipe with a diameter of 10-15 cm. It is also recommended to weld handles to the headstock, which will make it possible not only to throw the weighting agent onto the pipes being driven, but also to help the process manually.

2 What is the technology for driving a needle hole?

Work on developing the Abyssinian well begins with searching for a drilling site. It is impossible to hammer a needle on slopes and sloping terrain, since when groundwater is withdrawn, the risk of landslides sharply increases. It is also necessary to maintain a distance of at least 15 meters from sources of pollution - compost and sewage pits, septic tanks, toilets, etc.

Next, the driving location is marked and the tripod and headstock are deployed. You can make the initial stage of driving easier by using hand drill by developing a well of the maximum possible depth. Next, the first section of the column (with the tip installed on it) is inserted into the cavity, its verticality is checked and driving begins - the cable holding the headstock is pulled, the projectile rises and from the top point is lowered onto the pipe, which sinks into the ground from the weight of the falling projectile.

After driving the first section, a coupling is fixed on the pipe, the next section is screwed into it and the driving is repeated. During the immersion process, it is important to constantly monitor the vertical position of the column using a level; at the slightest deviation, it is necessary to install spacers and try to straighten the line.

You may encounter the fact that at different stages of driving the column will sink at different speeds. This is due to the fact that it passes through soil layers of different densities. To soften the progress, you can water the soil around the pipes.

After water appears in the well (you can check this by using a strip wrapped in paper lowered on a cord inside the column), it is necessary to rinse the main filter with a strong stream of water to remove clogged soil from the perforations. Do not be alarmed if muddy water comes out of the Abyssinian well at first - this is possible within the first day after its installation is completed.

The surface pump can be installed in any convenient location not far from the well, however, keep in mind that using a pump you can pump out water only in the warm season, since this equipment cannot be used in sub-zero temperatures. If you plan to operate the well in winter time, then it is rational to install it mechanical pump(manual piston pump), which can be bought for 4000-6000 rubles.

Needle well (Abyssinian well) in last years became very popular. Its construction is cheaper than digging a well. Water is lifted from the needle well using surface electric pumps or special hand-held “rockers”. Therefore, many owners summer cottages consider an igloo well or an Abyssinian well as good decision For autonomous water supply. In this article we want to analyze the issue of needle well reliability from the point of view of durability and maintainability.

What should be understood by the durability of the Abyssinian well?
First of all, when considering the issue of durability, we are talking about how long a needle well can provide water at a dacha. To answer this question, you need to understand how water appears at depths of up to 8 meters, at which Abyssinian wells are placed.

What should be understood by the maintainability of a needle well?
The needle well consists of two main elements. First of all, this is the well itself, into which a pipe with a filter section is installed. Secondly, it is a device used to lift water to the surface. Thus, the maintainability of the needle well should be understood as the maintainability of both of these components.

Well needle - aspects of durability
The water supplies that can be accessed using a needle well can be of different types.

First of all, at depths of up to 8 meters, reserves of perched water can be found. High water is water that has fallen underground from the surface (rain, melted snow) and lingered on local “clay lenses.” If the well needle is placed on the “high water”, its durability depends on two factors:

  • Water reserves on the lens;
  • Dynamics of water replenishment.

It is practically impossible to make a forecast for each of these factors. The lens can be local (at the level of 1 - 2 plots of land), or it can occupy a larger space. Precipitation forecasts, even from the Hydrometeorological Center, do not always coincide with reality. The practice of the last 10–15 years shows that precipitation volumes tend to decrease. On the territory of the Vladimir region, this trend leads to the fact that in some areas wells and other water supply sources placed at shallow depths are drying up.

The second type of water that can occur at depths of up to 8 meters is groundwater. When exploiting this type of water using a needle well, the longevity of the well becomes more predictable. The groundwater level in a particular area has been stable for 10 years. True, you need to take into account the “good neighbor” factor. The fact is that if any of the neighbors decides to conduct drainage works, it can drain groundwater using a drainage well to a deeper level. In this case, the well needle will stop working.

About the maintainability of the needle well
From the point of view of the maintainability of the well, the needles are convenient in their pumping part. Since the needle well pump is located on the surface, it can be easily accessed for inspection and repair.

But if problems arise in the well itself, then certain difficulties arise with repairs. If silt deposits form in a well, cleaning it using available means is problematic. If the filter on a well is destroyed, there is almost no way to repair it.

What do we mean by a well with a needle?
An igloo well is an autonomous source of water supply in which groundwater is extracted using surface self-priming devices. Either can be used as devices for lifting water. self-priming pumps or handheld devices.

When answering the question of what a well and an Abyssinian well are, it is worth turning to history. The fame and name of this water source appeared during the era of wars with the colonies. The British in the 60s In the 19th century, the Norton drill was used to supply troops with water. The source of water supply gained popularity, which it still enjoys today.

After creation similar device Abyssinian wells were tested in Russia. Attempts to organize a water supply were made by unskilled workers who randomly plugged 5 wells in Tsarskoye Selo, most of which provided water. Drilling of Abyssinian wells took place at a depth of 4-10 meters.

Abyssinian wells for sand and water: design diagram

The construction of an Abyssinian well is simple and affordable. A small diameter pipe is required. It is used to pierce the soil, lowering the product to the location of the aquifer.

Drilling an Abyssinian well is faster when the projectiles have needles at the end. They are welded to the projectile. Once the pipes have been buried, self-priming pumps are installed on them. The operating principle of the models is vacuum, thanks to which water rises to the top.

The Abyssinian well is characterized by the presence of structural elements in the form of:

  • pipes. Dimensions: diameter – up to 1 inch, length – up to 30 m. Design feature: filter (perforation and mesh with small cells) at the lower end;
  • pumps. They are attached to the top of the pipe. A pump pumps water from an aquifer.

There is no casing pipe. But the following details are present:

  1. pulley;
  2. drill string and projectile;
  3. rope;
  4. clamps: upper (with axles for pulleys) and lower;
  5. woman made of concrete with a reinforced layer.

Abyssinian well in the country: pros and cons

The world-famous Abyssinian driven well has the following strengths:

  • durability. A do-it-yourself Abyssinian well will last up to 50 years (subject to proper drilling);
  • low degree of complexity of work. The simplicity of the process determines the high speed of building a well on summer cottage. If you have specialized equipment (a drill core with a shell), the work takes several hours;
  • adaptation to the premises. A mini-well can be organized on a site, in a house, in a garage, in utility room. It doesn’t matter whether there are plantings on the site - they will not be damaged;
  • compact size. Making a well requires a minimum of materials, time, and money, since the dimensions of the product are small;
  • quality water. To get water High Quality, you need to choose appropriate place for a well. At a depth of 5-30 meters there are no harmful impurities that pollute or mineralize the water beyond the norm;
  • performance. Depending on the amount of liquid in the aquifer, pumps can pump out up to 50 liters of water in 1 minute;
  • low cost. The cost of constructing a well is on average 20-25 thousand rubles, while drilling an Abyssinian well with your own hands will cost 2 times less;
  • drilling depth – up to 20 meters;
  • no need to obtain permits in the form of licenses and other similar documents.

The product has fewer disadvantages, but they also exist:

  • without a filter (fine mesh and pipe perforation), the quality of water decreases due to siltation;
  • the productivity of the well depends on the amount of water reserves available in the aquifer; if there are none, you will have to drill in another place;
  • the lack of water in a particular area requires the removal of the drill, which in some cases gets stuck in boulders located in the ground;
  • long-term non-use of the water source for its intended purpose requires cleaning. If the pipe diameter is small, cleaning the narrow hole becomes more difficult;
  • restrictions on the depth of the aquifer. You can drill up to 30 meters deep, but the aquifer must be at least 8-9 meters deep. Otherwise, you will need to deepen the pump.

Abyssinian well: competent drilling

Well construction involves 2 types of drilling:

  1. exploration The goal is to determine the location for the well and find out whether there is water in the aquifer. Reusable equipment is used for drilling. If there is no liquid in one area, the drill is pulled out and the search is transferred to another area;
  2. confident. The goal is to equip a well. Confidence in the presence of water at the required depth is determined by the presence of an active well at 20-50 meters. A home-made projectile is often used as equipment.

In addition to the neighbor's well, natural sources are indicators of the presence of water in the aquifer: barrels, springs, springs, spring ponds. The presence of bodies of water within a radius of 500 meters guarantees 80% success. It is worth noting that the river is not an indicator.

The location of water is determined by vegetation, but does not give a highly accurate result and is quite complex. Terrain analysis is carried out when it is dry. Places below the main level of the site with representatives of the flora that love moisture and feed on it (for example, nettle, burdock) are being examined.

An object such as an Abyssinian well and its drilling is impossible in the following areas:

  • on the slopes of ravines;
  • on steep hills;
  • on the cliffs.
  • Certain places require maintaining distance:
  • areas for keeping and feeding animals and birds (sheds, poultry houses), heaps with compost - 15 m;
  • heaps of manure, cesspools– 30m;
  • poultry and livestock farms and yards, cemeteries – 300m;
  • landfills, chemical and sensitive production facilities, sewage settling tanks, artificial embankments made of redeposited material - 3.5 km.

How deep to drill is determined using an aneroid barometer. An indicator of 760 mm of mercury (1.05 MPa) is 10.3 m of water column.

The needle hole is drilled until the tip of the needle reaches the waterproof underlying layer of water. If the rate of penetration of the drill increases when interacting with the aquifer, and decreases with the underlying clay, it is time to stop drilling - the goal has been achieved. Compliance with this rule will ensure 3 components of a good water supply:

  1. quality water;
  2. stable operation of the well;
  3. long-term water supply.

You can check whether you have reached the aquifer using a pipe. Its diameter is smaller than that of the well, one end is welded. Thanks to the cord, the meter is lowered to a depth and then taken out.

Step 1. Select a location for the future well. Prepare the area and clear it for equipment installation.

Step 2. Dig a 1 m3 hole. If you intend to use a well all year round, depth below freezing level.

Step 3. Place the tip of the equipment in the center of the dug hole.

Step 4. Begin the driving-drilling process.

If you are using a garden auger, screw it into the soil layer and then lift it up along with the soil. Such equipment is used for wells up to 5 meters deep.

If you use a socket headstock for work, then press the top of the equipment with force, the impulse passes to the pipe. A socket headstock is equipment that is used in pairs.

Step 5. Bury the pipe while drilling.

Step 6. Sprinkle the soil evenly and then compact it.

Step 7. Increase the length of the pipe.

To ensure that the pipe enters the ground easily, take breaks after 1 hour, during which you replenish the soil with water. Under the influence of liquid, the earth softens, the drilling process is faster and easier.

Step 8. When the water level in the pipe reaches a meter, stop working.

You have learned how to make an Abyssinian well, now about the equipment. When independently arranging water supply in a suburban area, it is important to choose the right pump for the Abyssinian well.

If the depth of the well is more than 7 meters or the water rises more than 7 meters, it is more advisable to use a pumping station. It is a compact product consisting of a pump, electric cable, ballast device. The hose is not included in the kit.

Application pumping station– guarantee of water pressure of at least 45 m, and flow rate of 20 l/min. The product is equipped with a filter that has a certain throughput. The cost of the product depends on this.

In addition to the pump, it is reasonable to use a bailer in the well design. This is a projectile designed for loose soil layers. Choose a product with a caliber 4-5 smaller than inner diameter well.

A bailer drill is necessary when the well is used seasonally. Long breaks have a detrimental effect on the condition of the structure and the purity of the water; clay may enter. The main purpose of the bailer is cleaning.

Do-it-yourself well: operating features

The final stage of arranging a water supply system is commissioning. Before this, installation is required check valve, connect the pump or station. Pipes made of low-density polyethylene are most often used.

At the end installation work pour water, connect the hose, start the pump.

Initially the water is flowing It's cloudy and you can't drink it. To clean the liquid, the well is pumped for a couple of hours. Subsequently, the plants are watered with well water and vegetable crops, used on the farm. To drink such water, it is better to play it safe - submit samples to the SES for testing.

Do you want an Abyssinian well from plastic pipes served for a long time, the lens around the filter did not deform, the quality of the water did not decrease, and the reserves of the aquifer did not decrease? Use it regularly.

If on suburban area you come seasonally, prepare the well for downtime:

  • drain the water from the pipe;
  • cover the pump with moisture-resistant material;
  • Pump the well before use.

Abyssinian water well: to drill or not

To summarize the review of this type of water supply for suburban areas, we should once again emphasize the advantages that the well has. The compact size and specific features of the device allow you to place the product in any convenient place: in the garage, in the utility room, in the basement of the house, on the street. Thus, the water source is close and does not take up much space.

Equipping a water supply system in this way takes little time - within a few hours. The work is not highly complex and does not require specialized equipment. You can make the equipment yourself, and also drill a hole yourself, reaching the aquifer.

The depth of the wells and their specificity do not require obtaining a permit or going through a licensing procedure, as is done with the development of an artesian source.

However, do not forget that the manufacturer of the well, the quality of the water directly depends on how regularly you use it. If there are periods of downtime, it is necessary to prepare the water supply system for them. And then, even after time and several seasons, you will have clean water on your site.

In addition, such a well is not suitable for those who regularly need a large number of water. In this case, it makes sense to consider other options.
