Small things are scattered all over the house and there is no place to put them? Is it inconvenient when they are dumped in one pile? There is an exit. Make your own decorative cardboard or plastic containers of the required sizes.

This perfect solution. Small things will not only be sorted and in their place, this method of decoration will decorate the room. A stylish accessory is better than threads, keychains, or toys scattered in corners lying around everywhere.

Newspapers

Stylish and unusually beautiful storage boxes made from newspaper tubes will delight any housewife. You can buy such a product ready-made; many needlewomen decorate boxes this way, or you can do it yourself and not overpay for the work.

In addition, handmade baskets make the owner proud and warm her soul.

How to make a box from newspaper tubes:

  1. From one newspaper spread we make 8 strips. Cut to length. To avoid wasting time, fold it along the first curve and again. Take a utility knife and cut everything at once.
  2. One strip - one tube. How to make stripes: take a knitting needle or a long skewer, place the newspaper on a flat table. Next, attach the knitting needle to the very edge of the strip so that this edge forms a small triangle. Start winding the paper. You will end up with a tube with nothing inside. When you reach the end, lubricate the tip with PVA so that the structure does not unwind.
  3. The next step is painting the tubes. You can leave them like that, the newspapers will also look beautiful, or you can take a stain and paint them. Only the paint needs to be diluted, otherwise the tubes will bend badly.
  4. To make this you only need one part of the shoe box. You can take bottom, top or side elements. It all depends on what sizes are needed.
  5. Then use a pencil to make lines on the rectangle. Glue the tubes over them. Immediately clamp them tightly.
  6. Place the second part of the box on top of the first glued tubes; it should fit the size of the lower part. At the bottom, place an object that is the same size as the future basket. Place something heavy inside to prevent the structure from moving.
  7. Start weaving. You will need paper clips or paper clips. Place one tube behind the other, and press the ends to the top of the box. Continue in this manner until you reach the desired height. Do not use the tubes that were glued initially; they serve as a frame. You will secure them in the same way at the very end.
  8. Finally, stick flowers on the storage box or decorate with beads. Choose accessories so that they match the interior of the room.

This box can also be painted at the end. In this case, there is no need to dilute the dye; the structure will be dense and will not bend.

Making such containers is not difficult, but it takes a long time. This work requires attention and a lot of time.

Fabric or wrapping paper

Boxes can be decorated with fabric or wrapping paper. It will work out unusual accessory, which can be used to store towels, under clothes or for small items.

Also, such a box will look beautiful in the kitchen if there is nowhere to put cookbooks. This storage box is also suitable for thread, yarn and floss.

Manufacturing:

  1. To make the boxes you will need an unnecessary cardboard box, fabric suitable type and accessories for decoration. Also prepare glue, scissors, chalk or soap, pins, needle and thread, or take sewing machine. A tape measure or ruler will also come in handy.
  2. Cut off the pieces that cover the top. Take a ruler and measure the bottom. You can attach a piece of fabric to the bottom and outline it with chalk.
  3. Then you should measure the length of the walls and height. You need to add another 2 cm to the length, and 10 cm to the height.
  4. We sew the cut parts together. You can make the same ones for interior decoration.
  5. We place the box in the prepared case, and bend the top (the remaining 10 cm from the height) inward and glue it.
  6. At the end, you can decorate the container with leaves, flowers, and ribbons. Use whatever comes to mind. This is where your imagination plays a role.

Such beautiful boxes for storing clothes will create coziness in your home and please the eye.

Decoupage

You can make different boxes for things, toys and other small items. Craftswomen offer many options for decorating boxes, which are then turned into attractive storage.

One of the ideas is decoupage. A home organizer can be made with or without a lid.

Tools required for work: decoupage glue, napkins with a pattern, acrylic primer, brush and acrylic varnish.

Master Class:

  1. First, the glossy box needs to be rubbed with fine-grained sandpaper.
  2. Next, take acrylic paint and cover the outside of the box. Use a sponge. Paint evenly and leave the box to dry.
  3. Take a brush and soak it in decoupage glue. We apply the napkin to the painted area and apply glue to the napkin; there is no need for it underneath. You can also use acrylic varnish.
  4. We leave the container to dry and finally fix everything with acrylic varnish.

Every woman can create boxes for storing things with her own hands. You can also involve your child in the process.

Rope harness

An ordinary bucket can be decorated with an ordinary decorative cord and you will get a stylish container for things.

It can be placed in or on a shelf, and soft toys can be placed inside.

You will need a rope harness, a plastic bucket without a handle, hot glue gun or other good glue.

Process:

  1. Start from the bottom. Twist the rope into a small spiral and glue it in the center of the bucket. Press the rope well until it sticks.
  2. Coat a small area of the bottom of the bucket with the composition and lay the tourniquet in a snail-like pattern in dense rows.
  3. In this way, build up the rope until the entire bottom is decorated. Then move on to the walls. If you want to do something more fun, add rich colors that give Summer mood. Paint the cord in advance.
  4. Once completed, treat the sides and inside to make the product look more attractive.

You can make such a decorative item for storage with your own hands quickly if you don’t get distracted while working.

If you take a thick tourniquet, the work will go even faster. Due to the larger diameter, the cord will close the bucket faster.

This convenient accessory can also be used for fruit.

Metal grid

A container for storing toys or, for example, dirty laundry is made of metal mesh.

A woman is unlikely to be able to make this version of the box, but a man can do it with ease.

So what to do:

  1. You will need a round bottom. It must be wooden.
  2. The mesh is tightened around the bottom, measured required quantity and cut off.
  3. Attach it to the bottom of the bottom. Wheels are also screwed there so that the basket does not scratch the floor.
  4. A bag is placed inside. Can be tightened metal mesh and outside.

It turns out to be a very inexpensive DIY laundry basket.

Old sweater

If there is an old jacket or sweater in the house, do not rush to throw it away and give it away. You can give them a second life by decorating cardboard boxes and at the same time make another box or container for storing small items.

This method is also good if your underwear already has little space in the closet and it doesn’t fit anywhere.

Procedure:

  1. Cut off the sleeves and neckline of the sweater so that you get a straight line.
  2. Stretch it over the box and draw the length with chalk. Baste the jacket at the bottom.
  3. Then machine stitch the bottom. Put the jacket back on the box, fold the edges inward and glue.
  4. By using glue gun or regular glue to make handles.

These boxes look great in a closet. With their help, you can sort shorts and T-shirts, and stick a designation on the side (what is there).

This is very convenient, and you don’t have to turn over the closet floor every time to find the clothes you need.

Organizer

There are cases for things different types, depending on what a person plans to store in such a home accessory.

Clothes organizers are very convenient to use. The storage case can also be taken on a trip.

Tools for work: scissors, glue, ruler, decorative paper and box.

Master Class:

  1. The height of the trunk should be equal to the height of the space in the closet where it will be stored.
  2. Don't cut the box into different parts as some people recommend. Just cover it with decorative paper. Decorate the bottom.
  3. Cut the lid of the box into equal parts (measuring the width or length, depending on how the partitions will be positioned). Cover the parts with paper and send them to dry.
  4. When the planks are dry, install them inside as needed. You can make long cells or, for example, make a lattice so that one pair of socks fits in one cell.

Such a box with things is convenient to store, take out, transport, and you don’t have to dig through a pile of underwear to find something that matches the color.

Many people say: “I store almost everything in such accessories, from underwear to kitchen utensils" Indeed, it is practical, convenient and stylish.

Try making one clothes storage box and you won't be able to stop.

We will need:
1. Fabric;
2. Fabric sealant (I took interlining and padding polyester), you can use any other sealant, for example, dublin. With dublinin, the box will be quite rigid; I sewed such a box, for example, for chargers and a designer one recently, with non-woven fabric and padding polyester - soft, but, as it seems to me, for storing fabrics, towels, etc. just right.
There are different seals in stores; you can determine them by touch and choose them according to your needs and price.

Work process:
1) So, cut two squares and 8 rectangles. My side of the square is 24 cm, the sides of the rectangles are respectively 24*16 cm. When the boxes are ready, their width will be approximately 23 cm and height 15 cm, but then I will fold it on top, so it holds its shape better.
The most important thing at this stage is to cut the squares evenly!!
(in the photo, the upper rectangle is sewn from pieces, because there was not enough star fabric)

3) Next, we cut out 2 pieces of non-woven fabric to the size of one rectangle and square (bottom) and also two pieces of padding polyester of the same sizes. (To be honest, initially I glued the interlining onto the rectangles before sewing them into one large rectangle, and then it finally dawned on me that it was faster and easier to first sew the rectangles and then glue them once :)
As you can see, I reinforce only one side of the box with non-woven fabric - the outer side, but you can also strengthen the lining if you need to make the box more rigid.

4) So, we glue the non-woven fabric with an iron, and then I put a padding polyester under the fabric and iron it lightly, so it will be denser and thinner and will be fixed a little with the fabric.

5) Then, we proceed to sewing the square-bottom with the rectangular sides. Apply the side of the rectangle evenly to the side of the square and begin to sew by retreating 0.5 cm from the edge (in the photo I marked it with a pen). Here you can pre-pin with needles, but I don’t use it, it’s more convenient for me. However, for the master class I decided to show:

6) This is how we sewed all 4 sides to the bottom, now we need to sew the sides together - the fourth side.
We repeat points 5)-6) twice.

7) Turn inside out what we sewed for outside and put the finished lining inside, now we bait all sides with needles. At this stage you can also sew in the handles.
(Here I make sure to use needles, otherwise you can squint))

Sew:

We get this box:

Boxes with a round bottom are sewn in the same way, only the length of the rectangle will be equal to the length of the circle. When I sewed a bucket for the designer, I first sewed a large rectangle from scraps, then I measured its length and calculated the diameter of the circle that I would need to sew. So, I got the length of the rectangle to be 94.2 cm. Diameter = 94.2/pi, where pi = 3.14, I got diameter = 30 cm.

You can roll up the edges:

I propose to make such a box with your own hands, it will have side handles and envelopes and labels with the contents. The sides of the box are reinforced with plastic canvas between layers of fabric. Such boxes will help you store in one place sewing supplies, diapers and wipes, or toys, whatever comes to mind. This is relatively simple to do using manufacturing technology and at the same time not too expensive.
We will need:
Textile
Nonwoven
Plastic canvas - 4 sheets 30.5 * 45.7 cm (can be purchased at craft stores, usually used in embroidery)
A piece of clear vinyl

Dimensions of the finished box 24*28*21.5 cm

First, cut out the main and lining fabric with dimensions of 100 * 36 cm and two cuts of interlining with the same dimensions.

Iron the interlining to the wrong side of the fabric.

We sew the main and lining fabric separately into a tube along the narrow side. We process the cuts.

Turn it right side out and fold the pipe so that the seam lies exactly on the bend. Place a pin on the other side. Now we combine the seam and the pin together, straighten the fabric, and pin the pins on the folds. Essentially you just split the pipe 4 times.

Note: The side seam in the photo is the side seam.

Now let's start creating handles to attach them to the sides of the box.

Cut out 2 strips of fabric 21.5*7.5 cm each. Fold each strip lengthwise together front side inside and sew the long edges together. We turn out each pipe. iron them so that the seam runs along the back side. Unscrew about 1.5 cm from each end of the handle and attach with a pin.
Then pin the handle to the future textile box, about 2 cm below the top edge of the fabric, making sure that the control pin runs exactly in the center of the handle. Pin the ends of the handle at a distance of 6 cm from each other so that the box is easy to handle.

We sew each end of the handle with a beautiful and durable seam.

Then you need to cut a piece of transparent vinyl of the size you need, for example 11*8 cm - this will be a pocket for labels. We trim it on three sides with bias tape.

We pin the label to the front of the pipe 9 cm below the top edge of the box, directly under the pin under which the center is marked. Sew on 3 sides. The label pocket is ready.

Now we combine the seams of the outer and lining fabric with the wrong sides together. Aligning the cuts in a circle.

We position the pipe so that the side seam (in the photo) is located directly in the center.

Using pins, mark two vertical lines at a distance of 14 cm on either side of the seam. This is where we have outlined the edges of the rear section of the box. Let's draw a line through the pins; in the future, a machine stitch will be placed here.

Now we perform similar manipulations with reverse side fabric, outlining the edges of the front side of the box. Make sure the seam on the back of the box is exactly centered.
Now we have 4 vertical chalk lines. Located at a distance of 28 cm from each other on the front and back sides of the future textile box, and at a distance of 21.5 cm from each other on the sides. We machine stitch along the marked lines. Only sew through 1 layer of outer fabric and 1 layer of lining fabric.

This is what it looks like from the outside. The orange arrows indicate the seams, which are 21.5cm apart on the side.

We now have 4 small sections that can be opened.

Now let's outline the bottom of the box. At a distance of 12 cm from the bottom cut of the fabric, mark another chalk line along the entire perimeter. Sew through 1 layer of outer fabric and 1 layer of lining fabric.

We turn the pipe inside out and position it so that the seam is located directly in the center, and the front and rear vertical lines should match at the top and bottom.

Then we sew the bottom edge of the box, finishing the raw edges with a zigzag stitch.
Let's pay attention to the lower corners.
Place a pin at the intersection of the side fold of the fabric, and machine stitch 12cm from the bottom edge of the fabric.
Separate your grip bottom corner and separate the back fabric from the front. Form a triangle by aligning the bottom processed cut with the pin. You should get something like this:

When folding and adjusting the angle, the horizontal and vertical lines should intersect on both sides of the triangle.

Let's stitch along the base of the triangle, stitching along the seam that already exists. We cut off the excess fabric and process the cut.

We repeat similar manipulations for the second corner.

Now we cut out rectangles from plastic canvas the right size and insert them between the main and lining fabric of our box. Please note that they should be 2 cm in height smaller size the box itself. Move them all the way down.

We process the top cut of the box with bias tape.

We cut out 2 rectangles from the canvas, corresponding in size to the bottom of the box, cut off a piece of fabric that is 5 cm larger on each side than the base for the plastic canvas bottom.

Using a glue gun, glue the fabric and canvas together. We put the reinforced bottom in the box. You can secure it with the same hot glue, or leave it removable, it doesn’t matter.

The textile box for small items is ready!

Option number 3 - tuesok.

Option No. 4 - and one more thing))

(author’s words) - ...And here’s how I decorated the rough seam on the sides of these pieces:
By hand, you know, it’s not very easy to sew such a dense material, so I figured out to use a straight seam back and forth (reverse) on the machine, sewing on a decorative strip with a zig-zag like this. 2 minutes of work and after ironing the seam is closed, well secured and decorated!
We work from the inside out:

And the view from the outside (from the future face, i.e.)):

And this is how I sewed the side sleeve and the bottom into a full-fledged suit:

After the open sections of all the parts are trimmed with trim, this remains The final stage assembly of the tuesk. Manually, slowly, using a simple overlock stitch with 2 folds of thread (to match the binding) and from the wrong side. By the way, the “sandwich” I described after a “close” stitch becomes thin, but dense, comparable, perhaps, to natural wool felt (you know, our mothers used to have hats like that, or the gray ethnic hats of the Georgians)). In general, for a textile box the density is just right).

Option No. 5 - and another very interesting basket.

AND MORE DECORATIVE OPTIONS:

Textile boxes as systems storage is very convenient and functional: they can be placed on a shelf in a closet, you can place clothes in them, bed sheets, towels. I often use these boxes to store sewing supplies and fabric. Sewing a fabric box with your own hands is quite simple and quick - it took me about 10 minutes to sew, and I used leftover fabrics, so we can say that this is the most economical and quick option creating a storage system that allows you to keep everything you need in order and at hand.

You will need:

  • 10 squares of thick fabric (I have squares 22x22 cm);
  • scissors;
  • threads;
  • pins;
  • sewing machine.

I’ll say right away that the density of the fabric in this matter is the most important thing. If you don’t have thicker fabrics, it’s better to add to the list necessary materials dublerin, non-woven fabric or any other fabric sealant.

Step 1

First, you need to decide which squares you will have on the outside of the box and which on the inside, especially if you are using different colors of fabrics. Out of a total of 10 squares, you should have 4 squares for the front of the box, 4 squares for the inside and 2 for the bottom. So, the first step: sew on sewing machine 4 parts of the front side and separately 4 parts of the inside. You get two boxes like this without a bottom.

Step 2

Now carefully attach the bottom to each box. I specially turned the boxes upside down so that it would be clear what all the stitched parts should look like.

Step 3

Then we turn both parts inside out, iron the seams and place one inside the other. It already looks quite like a textile box. Just a few touches left!

Step 4

We fold the inside of the box over the front to create a beautiful lapel. To make it neat and even, first we pin it with safety pins.

Step 5

All my scraps fit perfectly in the new textile box.

The easiest way is to use a cardboard base, onto which newspaper tubes are glued along the perimeter at equal distances (about 2-5 cm). Before weaving, newspaper tubes must be painted in the desired color. Weaving consists of inserting a working tube back and forth and vertical tubes alternately. When one of them runs out, it needs to be “grown” using a new tube and PVA glue.

The finished box can be decorated with any materials you like.

50 photos of DIY storage box decor ideas:

The doors to the cave opened, and Ali Baba found himself among all sorts of things: jeans, T-shirts, paper towels, flash drives, disks, chocolates, tea bags and ping-pong balls... For a very long time he tried to find a bag of gold coins, but, alas. This would be the end of the fairy tale.

Thank God, order reigned in the cave, and all kinds of storage places were provided: chests and bags, boxes and bundles, dishes and jugs. Today you and I will sort through our treasures, walk through the “epicenters of trash” - clothing closets and bathroom cabinets, desks and kitchen shelves(you can add your own “hot spots” to this list).

We won’t reinvent the wheel, we’ll just figure out where all the things can be neatly placed. In boxes? Or to banks? Both will do. But! It should look organic and fit into the design of the room. So, let's begin.

Boxes and boxes

To get a beautiful container out of a cardboard box, just cover it with paper, fabric, leather, film - and much more. Choose any material and create a completely new box for storing things.

You can make several of these containers, matching in color, and thus not only put things (for example, shoes) in boxes, but also make a nice accent in the interior from this set. You can cover the boxes with the same material different sizes and even attach handles and corners, then these will be “suitcases” with things. And also - generally paste over several small boxes, place them in one - to store small items: jewelry or stationery, or simply make partitions in the box and store underwear.

Let's take a closer look at manufacturing pencil holders. It would seem that it couldn’t be simpler - I covered the glass, and here you have a pencil holder. But then this glass overflows and again there are pencils on the table (and in other places). Especially young artists.

So today we will make a special pencil holder for artists. It will not have one glass, but several. To make it you will need bushings from toilet paper, cardboard box according to sleeve height, colored paper and pieces of felt or drape.

Manufacturing technology

1. Prepare a cardboard box, toilet paper rolls (enough to fill the entire box), scissors, glue and materials for gluing.

2. Cover the box with paper and decorate with pieces of felt (cut out circles, flowers, stripes at your discretion). Glue a bottom made of cardboard circles to each sleeve to make cups.

3. Place pencils, pens, brushes, and markers in cups. Place the cups in the box. This is how the pencil holder turned out (and at the same time both the brush and the felt-tip pen).

Now your artist has desk- full order!

Such convenient jars

We go to the kitchen and see how many small glass jars with screw caps have accumulated. Of course, we left them for spices, but there are so many spices, there’s simply nowhere to put so many jars. There’s no point in arranging them! We'll hang them up! Beautiful and comfortable.

Manufacturing technology for a shelf with jars for spices

1. Select identical jars. Drill holes in the covers.

2. Attach the covers to the shelf with self-tapping screws at an equal distance from each other.

3. That's it! Hang the shelf in place and screw the jars to the lids.

There is also cans? You can also build an interesting shelf. For bathroom. We decorate jars using the decoupage technique.

Manufacturing technology for shelves with towel tins

1. Cut out the fragments of the pattern you like.

2. Coat the jar with primer, dry it, and stick on the design.

3. Cover the edges of the jar with tape.

4. Cover with varnish. Dry.

5. Prepare all jars in this way (steps 1-4). Attach to the shelf (painted to match the plywood) with self-tapping screws at equal distances.

6. Hang a shelf.

We sew organizers ourselves

Well, for those who know how to sew, there are several options for places to store things: handbags-pockets with clasps, an organizer with pockets, fabric bags for the bathroom and even... a case for an iron.

Today we will sew an organizer from fabric. Cardboard boxes are convenient, of course, but they wear out quickly. And not everywhere you can leave it, for example, in the bathroom it can get wet, and in the nursery it can get dirty. But fabric organizer boxes can be washed and dried.

Manufacturing technology

1. Cut a rectangle (length equal to the perimeter of the bottom of the box, width equal to the height of the box) and sew it in the form of a pipe. Sew the bottom.

2. Repeat step 1 from another fabric (lining).

3. Place the lining in the box and sew mesh into the sides (for strength and stability).

4. Finish the top (piping or trim).

5. Sew pockets. The organizer is ready.

And what an irreplaceable thing this is in a nursery! After all, a children's room is a dressing room, a bedroom, a living room and even an office, so it is difficult for a child to maintain order in such an endless variety of things. Help him - make several places for storage: fabric boxes, organizers, pencil holders and cases for objects. So that everything is easy to open and easy to put away.

Then your “Ali Baba” (with his robber friends) will put his treasures in their places.
