Advantages of galvanized mesh

They produce galvanized mesh from metal wire. Its rods are arranged perpendicularly and are fastened at the connection points by welding. The cells of the welded mesh are made rectangular, square, less often diamond-shaped, trapezoidal or other shapes. The wire for the mesh is galvanized or with additional polymer coating.
Fencing made of welded galvanized mesh has its advantages:

Types of welded mesh fences

Depending on the type of coating, it is presented in the following types:

Galvanized mesh can also be produced in the following types:

How to choose a galvanized welded mesh fence

Features of installing a fence made of galvanized mesh

There are two ways to install galvanized mesh:

  • Tension of the fabric between the pillars;
  • Installation of sections.

The first option is cheaper and easier to do yourself. But the second option is considered more aesthetically pleasing and stronger.

If you do not purchase ready-made welded spans, you will have to make the sections yourself from angles or profiles.

Fence posts can be either or. Of course, if you build thoroughly, you should use steel supports with a cross-section from 6 to 12 cm.

Installation of mesh on supports

To tension the rolled mesh, hooks are welded onto the posts. Also, special poles with hooks can be purchased ready-made.
The galvanized mesh is hooked onto the first post and stretched with tension to the next support and put on the hooks again.

One of the options for attaching fence sections to posts

To make a galvanized mesh fence stronger, a wire with a diameter of 4 mm is threaded through its top and bottom. The wire is welded to the post.
It is difficult to pull the mesh evenly with your own hands, so it is advisable to invite an assistant and, by threading a crowbar or rod through the bottom and top of the welded mesh, pull them. After installing the fence, the hooks are bent.
Sectional fence either welded to the posts or secured using pipes and clamps.

Installing a fence made of welded mesh allows you to solve several important problems at once. Such a fence marks and clearly records the boundaries of a certain territory, and also prevents unauthorized persons from entering it.

Nowadays, there are many building materials that can be used to make a fence for a suburban area and a private house. Some materials are characterized by durability and reliability, while others have excellent decorative properties. But a fence made of welded mesh combines these qualities. This type of fence looks attractive and has good strength properties.

Welded masonry mesh

Welded mesh is made from different sections. The latter is woven at right angles into a single fabric. In this case, sections of wire weaves are connected by spot welding. The mesh we are interested in for creating fences comes in the following types:

  1. Non-galvanized is the cheapest and simplest. Such a mesh is made from steel wire with a cross section of 1.2–10 mm. Finished goods are not processed by any additional protective materials, so their service life is not very long. A few years after installation, fences made of non-galvanized mesh lose their original appearance under the influence of precipitation and other external negative factors.
  2. Galvanized – more durable and of higher quality. The galvanized steel mesh is coated with a zinc layer. This operation increases the protective characteristics of welded products. Metal processing with zinc is carried out using hot or electrolytic methods. Structures made of galvanized welded mesh – best option For country house construction. The costs of their construction are low, and the quality of the resulting fence is at a high level.
  3. With polyvinyl chloride coating. This one is very durable. It is perfectly protected from corrosion, due to which fences made of PVC-coated material do not lose their attractiveness for many years. In most cases, such products are green in color. Protective covering applied to products only after welding.

There is also a mesh with a double coating (a layer of polyvinyl chloride and zinc). Fences from similar products usually don't do it because this material has a high cost.

Modern industry offers, as you can see, huge selection welded mesh for every taste and budget. In addition, the consumer can choose the shape of the wire products. They are manufactured in the form of rolls with different geometric parameters (length, width, cell size) and in the form of sections (panels). The latter, in fact, are modules completely ready for installation. Any home craftsman can install such sections in a short time and with a minimum of physical effort.

wire fence

In general, welded mesh is characterized by the following key advantages:

  • high reliability and operational durability.
  • speed and ease of execution installation work(installing wire fences with your own hands is really easy);
  • environmental safety;
  • excellent rigidity (when using fencing made of different types welded mesh does not bend or sag);
  • good anti-corrosion properties (the only exception is fences made of non-galvanized material);
  • optimal ratio of the cost of welded products and their quality;
  • relatively light weight;
  • excellent decorative effect and a large selection of color shades.

In addition, a fence of any length and height made of welded mesh requires minimal maintenance. And most importantly, such fences allow sunlight to pass through, which is very important for the vegetation on your property. suburban area. Specialists in the field landscape design appreciate sectional structures and fences made of rolled welded mesh also because they do not spoil the natural landscape. By and large, modern wire fences are small architectural forms, which can organically fit into any space.

Installation of reliable and strong fence from welded mesh is made using available materials and tools. Stock up on metal posts (they are needed to create the frame of the enclosing structure) and fasteners for them (clamps, brackets with bolts and nuts, special clips), cement or concrete mortar for arranging a foundation for posts, pegs, tape measure, marking cord (rope), screwdriver, bayonet shovel or drill, building level, sand.

Installed mesh fence

You should start work by marking the area where you decide to install the fence. Draw a perimeter, secure it using a cord, tape measure and wooden pegs. Then mark the locations where you will place the support posts. The distance between them should be equal to the width of one section of the mesh. In this case, it is necessary to add another 15–20 cm of length to the cross-section of the support itself. That is, if one span of the fence is 200 cm, the posts should be spaced 210–220 cm apart from each other. The next step is to dig holes to install the posts. The diameter of such mini-pits should be a couple of centimeters larger than the cross-section of the metal supports used. The easiest way to make holes is with a drill.

If you don't have it, a regular one will do. bayonet shovel. The depth of the pits should be equal to a quarter (slightly more or slightly less) of the length of the installed support element. The depth of the holes should be increased in cases where the soil in the area is winter time freezes very much. Pour a mixture of cement (1 part), sand (3 parts) and water into the dug holes. Place the support in this solution, carefully level the post using building level. After this, install spacers. And wait patiently until cement mortar will harden. This usually takes about 24–36 hours.

Installation of the mesh (or ready-made welded sections) is carried out after the foundation has solidified under all metal pillars. The wire product is hung on the supports using U-shaped clamps, clips or brackets that are attached to the posts. You will not have any problems with performing such an operation if you fasten the hardware using a screwdriver. It is best to fix the mesh in three places on the post (it is possible in two, but then the strength of the structure in adverse weather conditions will not be of the highest quality). Staples are usually used in cases where the mesh is installed in rolls.

Installation of a mesh fence

If your budget for installing mesh fencing is unlimited, buy sectional wire fences right away. They are usually sold as a kit, which includes the panels themselves, support posts and fasteners. Installation of such kits will be truly quick and simple. Finally, I would like to give home craftsmen a few useful tips. Take them into account, and then the whole process of arranging the fence will not cause you any problems. the slightest problem. First, try to schedule the fence installation for spring or fall, when the ground will be easy to dig.

Secondly, do not use wooden support poles - they may not support the weight of the steel wire. Thirdly, fill the holes for installing the supports with cement mortar separately. We filled one hole, installed and leveled the support, and began installing the next column. Good luck in building a durable and strong fence!

Did you know that not all types of fences are allowed to be installed between neighboring areas? This is due to the fact that high monolithic fences constantly shade the space. Considering the small size modern dachas, almost every plant in the garden will grow sluggish and weak. As a result, you may constantly encounter complaints from neighbors. What to do in such a situation? An excellent solution would be to use a mesh that will not be an obstacle to sunlight and air masses.

A similar mesh fence is used not only for summer cottages, but also for fencing sports facilities, technical areas, reservoirs, and so on.

Principles of fence installation

Modern construction technologies provide two options for how to build a fence from welded mesh with your own hands. The first option involves tensioning it between the pillars. In the second option, it will be necessary to make corners into which the mesh fragments will be fixed. The first option is much easier to implement, but it is less durable and aesthetically attractive.

To produce sections you will need additional financial resources. The cost of the corner can significantly exceed the cost of the grate itself.

In any case, installing a mesh fence involves the use of posts.

The pillars can be made of wood or metal. The first option is distinguished by its cheapness and availability, but it cannot boast of great durability. Purchase wooden supports, making fences from mesh is necessary only if their cost will be several times less than their metal counterpart, or you only want to install temporary fencing. There are also situations when wood remains after building a house, and you don’t want to throw away the material. To avoid unnecessary expenses, you can use existing poles.

The most preferable option for a dacha is to use metal poles for mounting. They are characterized by high reliability and durability. In the majority of cases, pipes with a round or square cross-section are used, the diameter of which ranges from 6 to 12 centimeters. The thickness of the pipe wall should not be less than 2 millimeters. To reduce the cost, it is recommended to purchase pipes directly at a scrap metal point, where you can often find good specimens water pipes. A DIY mesh fence will not be damaged.

Principles of territory marking

First, you need to install temporary pegs in the corners of the site, between which you can stretch the construction thread. The length of the cord will be required mesh, however, it must be purchased with a margin of 1-2 meters. After this, we designate the places where the pillars will be located. The optimal distance between tables is considered to be from 2 to 2.5 meters. A larger distance should not be allowed due to the deflection of the lattice.

It is worth noting that on a site with a sufficient slope it will be impossible to build a fence from a mesh, because it is not possible to secure it properly in an inclined position.

The only way out of this situation is terracing the site, which involves installing poles of greater length and power in places where there is a difference. On one side of the post the grating will be mounted at a higher level, on the other - lower. To do this, the mesh will also have to be cut. You can also install a sectional fence for your dacha.

Pole installation process

In the places designated for the pillars, it is necessary to dig wells using a special drill or shovel. A sectional fence made of welded mesh will otherwise be unstable. The depth of each well should be in the range from 1.2 to 1.5 meters. It is worth paying attention that the depth of the pit should exceed the freezing depth of the soil by 20 centimeters. First of all, it is necessary to install corner pillars, because the greatest and uneven pressure will be exerted on them. Before installation, a drainage layer of crushed stone and sand must be placed in the well.

Installed support in mandatory must be vertical. This can be checked using a plumb line or level. Only after this can the holes be filled with your own hands using a special solution. The solution should not be very liquid, otherwise the structure will not be strong enough. Further work, which requires a fence made of welded mesh with your own hands, can only be carried out after the concrete has completely dried.

Installing the mesh directly

After the concrete has dried, it is necessary to use welding to weld hooks onto the posts, to which our mesh will ultimately be attached. To organize with a hook, you can use nails, screws, wire or other available materials that can be bent into hooks. Then you can proceed directly to stretching the mesh.

To do this, you need to straighten the roll, place it near the first corner post and secure it there by installing it on hooks. In order for the final mesh fence to have the strength of top level, it is necessary through the first and the last row thread the cells through a wire with a diameter of 4 millimeters. After the lattice is hung, the wire will also need to be welded to the post.

Installing a mesh fence involves unrolling the mesh exactly one span to the nearest post. After a short distance from the place of attachment with the support, you need to thread a vertical rod with your own hands, using which we will stretch our mesh. If you pull the mesh only with your hands, it will be done unevenly, which will significantly affect the quality of the construction.

It is best to do this with two people: one will pull the grille from above, the other from below. After you have fenced the entire area, you need to bend hooks on all the posts. The finishing touch is to paint the posts for the dacha to avoid rusting them. If you used clamps rather than welding to secure them, then painting the pillars could be done before starting work. A sectional fence is secured in the same way as a mesh fence.

Welded mesh is a metal wire that is intertwined with spot welding. The main criteria when purchasing it are the size, shape of the cells (i.e. diamond-shaped, rectangular, trapezoidal) and the thickness of the wire itself.

The advantages of a fence made of welded mesh are ease of installation work, which the user can perform independently, increased anti-corrosion properties of the fence, excellent rigidity, environmental friendliness and minimal maintenance requirements.

You can from us, the company "Comprehensive Metal Supply".

Today there are several types of welded mesh:

    Non-galvanized

    Galvanized

    Galvanized with polymer coating

    PVC coated

    Mesh for creating a 3D fence.

Non-galvanized mesh is steel wire with a thickness of up to 10 mm. If you have limited financial resources, we recommend buying this particular variety, because it is the cheapest. However, compared to other types of welded mesh, its service life is much shorter due to the influence of weather conditions.

A fence made of welded galvanized mesh differs from the previous version in that zinc is applied to the wire. By the way, you can immediately buy a roll of galvanized metal.

Galvanized mesh with polymer coating is the strongest and most durable. The only nuance that can stop you is enough high price. Not every owner summer cottage can afford to buy such a net.

A PVC fence is usually made in green (but at the customer’s request, the manufacturer will paint it in any color) and is coated with a polymer coating using a special powder paint or by dipping the material into polymer.

The mesh for creating a 3D fence is a new product, the manufacture of which involves a certain bending, which leads to the appearance of the so-called three-dimensional effect.

Installation work

So, you have decided to install a welded mesh fence yourself. The installation of the fence itself consists of the following steps:

    markings;

    digging recesses (holes);

    installation of support pillars;

    mesh tension.

In order to mark the area, you need a rope, tape measure and stakes. The rope is stretched between the pegs, after which the places where the pillars will be located are indicated. Optimal distance between them - about 2-2.5 meters. If it is only there, then the mesh may sag in the future. You also immediately need to make a reserve of 15-20 cm for the thickness of the pillar and the size of the foundation.

When installing, be sure to note that in an area with a large slope it will be quite problematic to stretch such a fence, because in an inclined position it is impossible to properly secure the mesh.The only way out of this situation is terracing the area; it involves installing pillars of greater power and length in places where there is a difference, that is, on one side the grid is attached lower, and on the other, higher.

    Depth of freezing of the ground (the depth of the hole should exceed it by 20cm)

    Pillar size

Keep in mind that the diameter of the pits should be a couple of centimeters larger than the diameter of the pillars. The depth of the well should go to a level of ¼ of the length of the pillars, the size of which is from 50 cm.

If you want to put up a fence at your dacha, then the most preferable option is to use metal posts, as they are more durable and reliable than wooden ones. Wall thickness metal pipes should not be less than 2 mm, and the diameter should be up to 12 cm.

Direct installation of the fence

Install the corner posts first, as they have the most support and pressure. Also, before installation, place a layer of sand or small crushed stone in the well.

The next stage involves the following work:

    the pits are filled with pre-prepared concrete mortar (1 part cement, 3 parts sand);

    the posts are inserted into the well and leveled;

    the concrete base hardens and after a couple of days the work can be finally completed.

After the concrete has hardened, hooks must be attached to the posts by welding to secure the welded mesh. To organize the hooks, use wire, screws, nails or other improvised materials that you have and can bend. By the way, you can also buy special fasteners (clips, staples), U-shaped clamps, so as not to bother with this. Next, you can begin to tighten the mesh itself.

To do this, carefully straighten the roll and secure the mesh with hooks in several places near the first post. By the way,If you do not first cut the mesh into sheets, but fasten it immediately in a roll, then use staples to make it as reliable as possible. For increased strength of the fence, it is recommended to thread a thick wire with a diameter of about 4 mm through the first and last row of cells.After the mesh is hung, the wire should also be welded to the post.

Next, gradually unwind the mesh from pillar to post exactly one span and through a certain distance from the fastening, thread a vertical rod, due to which the mesh will be tensioned. This is done so that it stretches evenly without sagging.

It is most convenient if the installation of the mesh is carried out by two people, that is, one person tightens the mesh at the top, and the second - at the bottom. This way you will have a smooth and perfect fence. After the area is fenced, you should bend the hooks on all the posts. And that’s it, the fence is ready. If desired, the fence can be painted any color you want.

Some useful tips

    To prevent the cement from hardening, prepare it separately for each hole first.

    It is best to install a fence during the season when the ground is loose and easier to dig (this is spring or early autumn)

    If you decide to use the mesh in a roll, then unroll it and leave it in this position for a couple of days so that it straightens for ease of further installation.

    Best used metal poles, because wooden ones may not withstand heavy mesh.
