On the modern market there is a huge range of circular saws with a wide variety of sets of characteristics. Manufacturers are constantly working to improve the quality of their models, gradually bringing it closer to the ideal. So choosing a saw for you will not be difficult.

Combining high maneuverability and high productivity, the hand-held circular saw is indispensable tool for smooth cutting of various materials.

In most cases, a circular saw is used for longitudinal cutting of wood and materials made from it. That is, with the help circular saw you can cut chipboard, oriented strand board, plywood, MDF, fibreboard, etc. In addition, the circular saw performs cross-cutting tasks perfectly. And special additional discs and settings will turn the circular saw into a great tool for working with sandwich panels, laminate, various plastics and even slate. And knowing how to choose a circular saw, you can pick up without any problems optimal model just for you.

Choice of saw blade diameter

The diameter of the cutting blade is an important characteristic, which is directly related to the size of the saw, its power and torque.

There are main parameters that must be taken into account when choosing a circular saw. One of these characteristics is the size of the cutting disc. It is from him that the depth of cut depends to the greatest extent, according to which all models of circular saws are conventionally divided into several classes. With such a characteristic as the diameter of the disk, the power of the saw is also associated. In addition, the larger the cutting disc, the more complex the design of the tool will be, because. a serious diameter requires adequate torque to keep the speed at the desired values. The stabilization system also becomes more complicated, thanks to which jamming of the working disk is prevented, vibration, noise level, etc. are reduced. All this leads to an increase in the total weight, dimensions and final price of the tool. However, along with this, a high-end circular saw will allow you to work with a variety of materials and saw large workpieces.

The classification of tools according to the cutting disc is rather arbitrary. They are classified according to the diameter of the circle. The maximum depth of cut that can be achieved with the tool in question is also taken into account. You can find these characteristics in the data sheet. circular saw. Thus, tools are conventionally divided into classes:

  1. Saws with a disc with a diameter of 4-5 cm. Used for cutting sheet materials. Belong to the category of household tools.
  2. Saws with a 5-6.5 cm disc. The most common and widest category. These tools can be used for most jobs.
  3. Saws with a disc with a diameter of 6.5 cm. this group includes a professional grade tool.

The classification is very conditional and was introduced rather for greater convenience of choice.

Circular saw power

When choosing a circular saw, it is necessary to pay attention to such important characteristic like its power. The more powerful the engine, the:

  1. The tool will be more stable in operation.
  2. It will be possible to work longer without breaks.
  3. Materials can be cut faster.

The diameter of the saw blade is directly related to its power. There is a classification according to this indicator, which is also very conditional. It looks like this:

  1. Household circular saws. This category includes tools whose motor power does not exceed 800 watts.
  2. Universal models. These are circular saws with a motor of 800-1200 watts.
  3. Professional circular saws. This class includes tools that are equipped with a motor more powerful than 1200 watts.

Disc rotation speed

The speed of rotation of the cutting disc affects the quality of the cut and the time spent on this.

When choosing a circular saw, one cannot but pay attention to such a parameter as the speed of the disc. The cleanliness of the cutting performed to some extent depends on this indicator. It is also necessary to take into account the fact that the rotational speed is directly related to the torque value. The higher the first indicator, the lower the second. The degree of heating of the processed workpiece also depends on the speed of rotation of the disk. This is especially important when cutting some plastics, which can melt when processed with a high-speed model.

Thus, when choosing a circular saw, it is necessary to make a choice in favor of tools with the same tooling diameter and the most suitable rotation speed. Here it is important to think about what materials will be most often processed with a circular saw. If you wish, you can buy a circular saw with the ability to adjust the speed of the blade, but this option is not in the best way affects the cost of the instrument.

Protection system

Among the important functions of a circular saw are preset idle speed, protection of the saw from heavy loads, and an electrodynamic brake.

A circular saw is a tool of increased danger, so you should definitely not save on your own safety. Currently, manufacturers equip their tools with a number of special features and additions that provide almost complete safety for the master during work.

First of all, you need to know about the so-called. constant electronics. Its function is to maintain the disk rotation speed at a constant level as the load decreases or increases. For example, a number of models are equipped with a special sensor to monitor the speed of rotation of the shaft and changes in the output power. This allows you to maintain the rotation speed at a constant level and almost completely eliminate the risk of disc jamming. Accordingly, the quality of the cut also increases.

However, in order for the speed to be maintained at the required level when the load increases, the tool must be equipped with some power reserve. In budget models, as a rule, it is not.

Some models of circular saws are equipped with a preset idle speed function. This option can be useful when processing various different materials. The preset frequency will be stabilized under the influence of this system.

Another useful additional function is to protect the saw blade from excessive loads. For example, an overload can occur when the master is overzealous or when there is a sudden voltage surge in the mains. The system will turn off the power and prevent damage to the working tool.

Modern models of the middle and high price categories are equipped with an electrodynamic brake. Thanks to him, the disk stops rotating almost instantly after the master releases the power button of the saw. This prevents breakage of the workpiece and the tool itself and protects the operator from injury.

Additional mechanics

The auxiliary button of the circular saw prevents unintentional activation of the mechanism.

Those who often work with a circular saw know such an unpleasant phenomenon as jamming the disc in the workpiece. Because of this, the workpiece can deteriorate, the motor breaks down and a kickback occurs. To prevent such troubles, the so-called. slip clutch. If the disc is jammed, the clutch will release the motor shaft and it will continue to rotate. Due to this, the burnout of the windings will be prevented. The system is very reliable and only works when needed.

A very common mechanical protective element is an additional button, which the operator must hold during operation along with the main one. Thanks to it, accidental switching on of the tool will be prevented.

Periodically, it becomes necessary to replace a used cutting disc. To do this, you have to fix the shaft and unscrew the nut. A number of models are equipped with a mechanism that allows you to fix the shaft in any position, which makes working with the saw more convenient.

One of the most important elements any circular saw is a base plate. On this plate are installed different kind fasteners and control mechanisms. It can be made by casting or stamping. The first option, as a rule, is installed on more expensive models, and the second - on household tools. However, there are also exceptions.

The saw must be equipped with an automatic casing. This element will move during the start of work and automatically return to its original position when it is completed.

Any circular saw should have a riving knife. It will not allow the already processed part of the workpiece to squeeze the cutting disc, which will prevent it from jamming.

Tool Ergonomics

Circular saws today are on sale in a wide range, which allows you to choose the model that will be most comfortable and easy to work with.

Despite the fact that circular saws were developed to facilitate the processing of wood and other materials, working with such a tool is still quite difficult. Therefore, the ergonomics of a circular saw is very important.

First of all, you need to pay attention to such a moment as the location and shape of the handles. Choose the model that best suits your physical data, habits and preferences. There is a huge range of circular saws on the modern market, so the choice is not difficult.

The shape of the front handle deserves special attention. You can buy a tool with a straight handle and with a handle set perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece. The most preferred and popular is the second option. However, some may like the first one. Here everything is individual.

Handles can be made from different materials. Among users, tools with rubberized handles are most valued. This option allows you to provide maximum control over the tool.

In addition to quality characteristics, when choosing a circular saw, it is important to pay attention to its ergonomics.

When choosing a particular model, be sure to consider several options, hold each of them in your hands, consider what weight will be most comfortable for you, which handle is best for you, etc.

Working with a circular saw involves the organization of effective blowing of the cutting place, because. if it becomes clogged with sawdust, you will be uncomfortable. There are circular saws with a nozzle for a vacuum cleaner and a bag for sawdust. Sawdust can also be collected in a special container.

Pay attention to how the power cable is located. It is important that it cannot be inadvertently cut during operation. It is best to have the cable at the back of the saw. It is better to choose a length of about 3-4 m. This will eliminate the need to use carriers that can interfere during operation.

The motor brushes will need to be replaced periodically. It is better to buy a model that will provide quick and easy access to these brushes, which will allow you to replace them yourself without contacting a service center.

Be sure to turn on the saw before purchasing. Listen to how noisy it works, what a strong vibration it makes. Compare several suitable technical specifications and cost models.

If you will be using a circular saw occasionally, for various small tasks, then it is better not to spend a lot of money and choose something in the middle price category.

Each manufacturer's product range includes big choice such drinks. The cost of such a tool is much lower than professional models, and guarantee period usually longer. The only drawback is that an amateur household saw cannot work for a long time without a break. Be sure to check this point before buying and pay attention to it when choosing a tool.

And the last significant criterion is the cost. Here everything is individual. Do not trust too tempting offers from dubious manufacturers, but otherwise be guided by your budget. Good luck choosing!

In a private house, a chainsaw is not the most convenient tool: it requires regular refueling, maintenance of the carburetor and air filter, and the resource of a high-speed two-stroke engine, especially on budget Chinese models, is far from ideal. But most of the work performed by the saw in such conditions takes place not far from the outlet - it is enough to stretch the extension cord outside to be able to use the electric saw. The electric motor does not need to be refueled, its resource is an order of magnitude higher than that of a gasoline one, in addition, the owner gets rid of smoke, roar and vibrations, which are inevitable for a gas tool. If the saw is also battery-powered, then binding to the outlet can be avoided.

Well, it's worth seeing which chain saws can be called the best in 2017-2018. Given the variety of models, we will divide them into five categories:

  • Amateur electric saws is the budget segment of the market, simple tools Chinese production. We will not consider battery models of the lower segment: here you will immediately have to sacrifice either battery quality or performance. Feature power saws - this is the lack of a clear separation in terms of power and tire length, like gasoline ones: both amateur and professional electric saws will have similar characteristics.
  • AT middle segment models of electric saws are presented, which, if necessary, will be capable of long-term work - this implies greater attention to both engine cooling and oil pump reliability. Battery Models this segment in terms of performance will be lower, but will already show decent autonomy.
  • Professional chain saws both network and rechargeable, designed for long-term work with maximum efficiency: this is not only the quality of materials and workmanship, but also thoughtful ergonomics, without which a professional tool cannot be considered as such.

Ranking of the best electric chain saws 2018

This time the main character will be a chain saw. Initially, chain saws were used for felling and sawing trees. But over time, they increasingly began to be used at different stages of construction. Two separate classes of this unique tool have appeared that do not compete, but rather complement each other - gasoline and electric. Further, read about the features of a particular type of chain saws, the criteria for choosing a particular model.

At the turn of the century, our team reached a new level, we started building and reconstructing cottages. Many new types of work have been added, and the usual set of tools used in finishing has become insufficient. It so happened that for the construction of the roof, the installation of ceilings, the construction of frame load-bearing structures in the overwhelming majority of cases, we use wood - bars of a decent section. A number of tasks are solved by the circular, but not all. The disc can cut to a limited depth, it is not possible to “crawl” with such a tool everywhere, it is difficult to cut at non-standard angles (for example, cutting rafters for hip roofing systems). The first roof was assembled with the help of a circular saw, and we felt that it could be better. In addition, very often, before starting construction, you have to thoroughly clean the site, remove all old trees. So, there is a need to purchase a chain saw.

Immediately the question arose of what to take: an electric or gasoline unit. Having studied practical experience seasoned builders, came to the conclusion that both are needed, since there was no acute shortage of finance, and it was not necessary to choose one or the other. The gasoline saw was planned to be used for felling trees and continuous cutting a large number blanks of the same type - racks, rafters, beams. The fact is that a saw with an internal combustion engine has a greater performance compared to an electric one of the same power. She can work all day without stopping. The undoubted advantage is the autonomy of the chainsaw, there is no electricity at the construction site, but we are working. An electric saw is a more delicate thing in a sense. She will deal with us more subtle, carpentry associated with periodic on / off - for example, accurate cutting of rafters. Everything converges here - it’s not entirely logical to “sniff” a chainsaw with an enviable frequency, but the electric saw is always ready to work, you just have to press the button. Moreover, it needs mandatory stops to cool the motor winding, you can’t cut it continuously - or it will work thermal protection, or, in the case of a cheap Chinese tool, the insulation at the anchor will melt, a short circuit will occur, and "everything is lost." Occasionally, a chain saw will be used indoors, there is only an “electrician” - there is no noise or exhaust.

Oleo-Mac GS 35

First, Oleo-Mac GS 35 was purchased. The choice of this model is due to several factors. The first thing that attracted me is famous name manufacturer with a proven track record. The second is the price. If Husqvarna and Stihl make, of course, excellent saws, mostly premium class, and they ask for decent money for their products, then the Italians are more focused on household and “farm” saws of the middle price range, their price / quality ratio is considered the best. The GS 35 was conceived by the developers as an inexpensive specimen for felling trees and sawing not very large diameters, as well as for construction work (for me, just what the doctor ordered).

The tool is compact, lightweight, the weight of the chainsaw is 4.4 kilograms. The controls are informative, located quite conveniently, the accelerator buttons are well “palpable”, the starter control knob and the switch are combined into a single shift lever. The case has all sorts of corrugated images that help navigate various operations and controls, which helped me a lot at first. Oleo-Mac engineers are proud of the anti-vibration system that has been applied to this model. Three springs and rubber dampers can significantly reduce vibration, so you can cut with good accuracy, which, in my opinion, is important for construction. Access to the air filter is provided simply - by unscrewing three screws, the filter itself is made of sponge material and is cleaned quite easily. After a fuel change or a long downtime, chainsaws usually do not start right away, you have to suffer. This process is greatly facilitated by the "suction" function, on the GS 35 it is.

The two-stroke saw engine with a volume of 39 cm 3 is quite powerful, it develops up to 2 hp. (1.5 kW), there is no lack of torque. The gas tank and oil reservoir have a relatively decent volume - 0.35 and 0.26 liters, respectively, and their bodies are transparent, which makes it easy to control the level of liquids.

The saw is completed with a relatively small tire (35 cm long), which is enough for my purposes. However, it should be noted that if European manufacturers offer the smallest tire possible, then the Chinese are trying to make a lasting impression on a potential buyer and put on the longest saw set, not caring about the power / cutting capabilities balance.

I had some problems with this chainsaw, which are most likely due to the inexperience of the operator. At first, the engine stopped revving, the reason was a clogged fuel filter. The second problem is that the starter, popularly referred to as the "shmorgalka", broke down. The service said that it didn’t start correctly, but perhaps the fact is that it happened in the cold -15 ° C, and the plastic became too brittle. At first, it was a little annoying that the fuel mixture should be used within two weeks - then drained, several times a day you need to clean air filter, constantly clean the cylinder body and lubrication channels of the working tire from oiled sawdust. But this common features operation of chainsaws, you quickly get used to them. Now Oleo-Mac GS 35 only makes me happy, we found mutual language. Great option for a builder at a price slightly above $200.

Gardena CST 3518

Gardena CST 3518 is our first electric assistant. This is a high-torque, silent unit that embodies the characteristics of a chainsaw and the convenience of an electric tool. Powerful motor, 1800 W, perfectly copes with its task, it was not necessary to overheat the motor. The developers have placed it transversely, but the saw is well balanced in terms of weight, there is no straining arm on one side - the scourge of a tool with such an arrangement. By the way, the curb weight of the CST 3518 is 5.5 kilograms, compared with 4.4 kg of the gasoline Oleo-Mac GS 35, however, no serious problem was noticed - work chain saw at the construction site periodically.

The body of this compact saw has a very ergonomic shape, the controls are comfortable and functional, everything, as they say, is in its place. The materials that make up the Gardena seem to be of the highest quality (at least for the outdoors). The plastic is elastic and pleasant to the touch, there is a metal stop and a bracket for the handle, the oil reservoir (volume 0.18 liters) is transparent and has a convenient plug. Generally appearance and the Germans paid serious attention to design, the saw is beautiful, you want to pick it up.

Special attention deserves a manual chain tensioner in the form of two plastic nuts, which allow you to quickly perform the corresponding operation without additional tools. An interesting option that somehow got accustomed only to power saws. Let's just say it takes some getting used to. To prevent the chain from becoming loose during operation, you should VERY clearly lead it by the sprocket. I personally like reliable traditional version with wrench and screwdriver.

About the cutting part. The Germans were not surprised and put on this model a 35 cm tire with a 3/8 inch chain and a link thickness of 1.3 mm. In a word, we have a good balance between the speed of movement and the characteristics of the chain, engine power and tire characteristics. There is no need to press anywhere, the tool cuts itself.

The Gardena CST 3518 chain saw belongs to the household class, but has a set of “gadgets” typical for professional tool. In the asset: excellent working, fast inertial brake, chain catcher, automatic chain oil supply, thermal relay that protects the engine from overload. The saw is comfortable, functional, reliable - its money ($ 150) is definitely worth it. She has been with us for four years. True, there was one problem - one part failed (it seems to be called PSh), repairs in the native service cost $ 15, now everything is in order.

Matrix EK2400

Once, in one large building supermarket, I decided to play the lottery - for $ 80 I bought a Matrix EK2400 saw on sale. It seems like a product of a poorly promoted German brand, assembled, of course, in China. In terms of quality, everything turned out to be quite worthy, many times better than the new “pseudo-Russian” brands. The engine is located longitudinally. The declared power is 2400 W, although it somehow doesn’t look like it, there are no noticeable differences in performance from Gardena (1.8 kW), and it weighs less - 4.7 kg. This indicates that the developers, most likely, were a little cunning. The saw is quite comfortable due to the longitudinal layout, the balance is good. There is a sensitive engine brake and an inertial chain brake. Tire lubrication is automatic, but the channel is often clogged. According to the manufacturer, the motor winding is made with double protective insulation, which provides additional reliability. 40 cm Oregon bar paired with 3/8" chain - standard version. The manual tensioner, like on the CST 3518, does not require the use of additional tools, but it is very capricious. Adjusting the chain tension with it is difficult, although it should be just the opposite.

For two years of operation, it was also necessary to replace the “licked” PSh gear. Everything else works, albeit noisily, but without interruption. There are no problems with trifles expected from a product from China. Let's see how it will be in the future, in general, for infrequent use in the garden and on the construction site, it is quite an interesting option.

The practical experience gained allowed us to formulate some methods and principles for choosing a chain saw, especially in terms of "gasoline or electric". I present them to your attention:

  1. For active construction, it is better to have both a gasoline and an electric chain saw.
  2. Chainsaws are much more productive with the same power. They should be used for extensive continuous work carried out in the open. They are indispensable in the absence of electrical networks nearby.
  3. An electric saw is suitable for occasional operations at a construction site, as well as not too intensive work on the site. They have no alternative indoors. They are much cheaper and much easier to use.
  4. First you need to decide on the manufacturer - it should be a company with a reputation that provides in your area service maintenance and uninterrupted supply of spare parts and the correct consumables.
  5. You should not buy a chainsaw that is too powerful, since operation at partial speeds, without load, does great harm to all tool systems - that is, it is necessary to determine in advance the specifics of the intended work. Power saw - the more powerful, the better.
  6. The best option for construction is the "farmer", a middle-class model with elements inherent in professional chain saws.
  7. The saw should “fit in the hand”, be comfortable for a particular performer.

Turishchev Anton, rmnt.ru

In a private courtyard or cottage, you can not do without improvised tools. Even for elementary log harvesting, an ax and a saw are needed, and even more powerful units are required to create outbuildings, for example, a chainsaw. According to statistics, it is chosen much more often than electric models, because there is no connection to a power source. But gasoline units vary so much in configuration and weight that it can be difficult to decide on a specific model. Let's figure it out together how to choose a chainsaw for your own needs.

The abilities of the chainsaw, its power and weight are designed for different areas of application of the unit. Manufacturers produce three groups of tools, each of which successfully copes with specific tasks, so before choosing a chainsaw, you need to decide what it will do on your site and how often.

Saws for small jobs in the garden

Amateur-class units have the smallest capacities. They are designed for intermittent operation, which is no more than an hour a day. Most chainsaws in this group have up to 2 kW of power, which affects their weight. Such models are easy to lift, hold on weight. In this case, you will not feel the vibration of the tool, as it is dampened by the low profile chain.

If you are the owner finished house or cottages, and you need a tool to maintain order on the site, small repair work, then it is worth taking a closer look at the amateur class of chainsaws. Trimming trees, preparing firewood, making a bench or a sandbox - all this is quite within the power of this unit. But your hands will not experience heavy loads, and even an inexperienced owner (or mistress!) will be able to control the saw.

Ease, safety and ease of use are the main "bonuses" of a household chainsaw

Semi-professional tool: will help in building a house

When choosing a chainsaw for a summer residence or a house that is at the very beginning of construction, it is better to look at a semi-professional tool. They have higher power than amateur units (2-3 kW), so everything construction works related to wood, you can safely trust them. For example, harvesting rafters, trimming floorboards, sheathing a house with timber, etc. The main thing is not to "torment" the unit all day, because it is not designed for 8-10 hours of continuous operation.

The weight of the semi-professional model is about 6 kg.

When the main construction is completed, the saw will be needed in garden care or landscaping.

A semi-professional chainsaw will withstand the construction of a log house and at the same time help to cope with pruning the garden

Saws-professionals: cut wood around the clock

The most powerful class of chainsaws are professional. They are developed for organizations that are engaged in felling and felling trees on an industrial scale. For such work, you need a tool that can cut for many hours in a row, and in the most difficult areas, with thick and knotty trees. Therefore, professional chainsaws corresponding power - from 3 to 6 kW. Such a "beast" is designed for 1.8-2 thousand hours, wears out slowly and roars strongly.

In most cases, choosing such a high-end chainsaw for personal use is not justified. Professional Models difficult to manage. They vibrate strongly during operation and weigh a lot (more than six kilograms). If the owner does not plan to build a log building (for example, a bathhouse) and does not use stove heating, for which firewood needs to be harvested, then pay high price for excessive power and at the same time to give a strong load on the hands is hardly worth it.

When working with a powerful chainsaw, experience and skill are required, because the significant weight of the unit, paired with vibration, interferes with control

Optimum unit power for country needs

To decide which chainsaw to choose in terms of power, calculate how thick the wood you will load the tool with. After all, it is the power that affects how quickly the material is cut, whether there will be difficulties when working with difficult and thick wood.

For summer residents who select a tool for pruning trees in the garden and simple sawing of boards, a chainsaw with a power of up to 2 kW is enough. The construction of the house is well managed with roof frame and chainsaw floors in 2-2.7 kW. Powers above this will affect the ease of control, give a load on the hands, although you still will not use the full power of the tool.

Chainsaw "stuffing": how to choose a saw set

In addition to power, the convenience of working with a tool is also affected by its content, i.e. a headset that includes a chain, a tire, protection methods, etc. When buying a chainsaw, keep in mind that you will have to buy all the components and parts that need to be replaced from one manufacturer. A saw set of other brands simply will not fit your chainsaw. So buy famous brand so that there are no problems finding sprockets, chains, etc.

How to choose a chain for a chainsaw: attention to the pitch of the links

The right choice of chain determines how successfully your saw will cope with difficult trees and how much time it will spend on it. On sale there are models with three chain pitch sizes: 0.404, 3/8, 0.325 inches. These numbers are a common designation, so any brand of saw will have one of these indicators in the instructions.

With 3/8" and 0.404" pitches, powerful professional and semi-professional models are available. They withstand many hours of stress and a significant thickness of wood. True, for sawing contaminated or frozen material, even this step is not enough. For such purposes, they buy a separate chain created with carbide tips.

For harvesting frozen wood, you need saw chain, reinforced with carbide tipped

The most popular chain pitch for summer residents is 0.325 inches. Almost all amateur saws are equipped with just such low-profile chains. This step is good for short-term jobs. With prolonged continuous use, such chains quickly become dull.

Some owners, when buying a low-profile chain in increments of 0.325, immediately take a spare so that while one is sharpening, the second can do seasonal work.

Tire length and shape

Before choosing a chainsaw for a summer residence, pay attention to the features of its tire. She happens different lengths. The instructions for a particular model always indicate the optimal tire length, which must not be exceeded, because it will affect the operation of the engine. For example, long tires cut thick wood well, because they bite deeper, but if they are equipped with a saw that is weak in power, then you will lose speed. The motor will have to expend energy on the rotation of the crankshaft, while the rate of sawing is lost, although more fuel will burn. So an excessive length of the tire can cause rapid wear of the mechanism.

It happens that units of the same power have tires of different lengths. For country needs, it is preferable to take the one where the tire is shorter. She'll run faster and for trunks garden trees and thin boards of her strength will be enough.

The shorter the bar, the faster it cuts the tree, but for thick logs its length may not be enough

In addition to length, the shape of the tire is also analyzed. Yes, for amateur models there are narrow flat tires that are equipped with low-profile chains and are beneficial in that they do not give a kickback. Such units are very safe, which is important for novice users.

The second tire option is lightweight. They are so named because they weigh less than conventional ones and are designed for work at height. On the roof of the house it is more convenient to work with a light chainsaw. Lightweight saw bar consists of 2 steel plates, which are fastened inside with polyamide.

The third tire option has replaceable heads. This is necessary for chainsaws operating in heavy duty felling, when the wear rate of the mechanisms increases. For domestic needs, a similar shape of the tire is not needed.

Protection and security options

The protective mechanism, which increases the level of safety when working with a chainsaw, includes the following devices:

  • Vibration protection

If there is no such protection, then with frequent use of the tool, the joints of the hands will begin to hurt. Therefore, look at how the fuel tank is located in relation to the motor. Ideal if they are at the maximum distance. Then the weight of the chainsaw is distributed more evenly. Rubber pads also contribute. They are installed between the body and the handles.

  • Kickback protection

When sawing wood, it can happen that the saw only grabs the trunk with the end of the bar, causing it to kick back on the person holding the tool. As a result, there is a risk of slashing your face, shoulders and other part of the body, which will fall into the trajectory of the fall of the saw. To avoid this, two types of protection are put in chainsaws: a brake and a shield.

The first option is more common. It is a small lever that, when launched, leans closer to the hand, and in the event of a reverse blow, the brush will automatically press on it.

The brake lever is an additional guarantee of safety for inexperienced summer residents who are just starting to master this technique

Shields are placed at the end of the saw so that it is insulated when it rebounds. But you will not find this element in Swedish brand chainsaws, because there lumberjacks officially use the end of the tool when felling wood.

Having figured out how to choose a chainsaw for your home, feel free to go to the store and study the assortment according to the criteria that were analyzed above.
