Landscaping a village yard can be beautiful and thoughtful. Arranging a site in a village requires a special approach - everything should be simple: from plants to decorative details.

A little history

In the old days, villages always tried to keep their plots in order. Despite the fact that our ancestors did not have any achievements of modern technology at hand, they still managed to create real works of landscape art on the site.

Every yard necessarily had not only flowers, but also fruit trees and fruit-bearing plants. After all, it was the household that previously provided the family with the necessary amount of food. Now a lot has changed, but still, a village courtyard should be decorated not only with wonderful flowers, but also with beds. It is not necessary to grow a lot of things on them at once.

You can plant carrots, herbs, lettuce, and so on in even rows. Such neat beds will serve as a source of fresh and healthy food, as well as an interesting addition to the site.

How to apply?

There are many ways to recreate traditional style even on village plot. In order to achieve this, you need to know the basic rules.

Simplicity

First of all, do not try to decorate the area with any details that look unnatural. All details should be as close to nature as possible. If there are benches, then they are wicker or wooden, if there are figurines, then they are clay, and so on. However, garden style in this regard it is very free.

All plants are planted the way you like. It is not necessary to adhere to certain clear rules or create complex compositions. The simpler the better. At the same time, the combination of simple details looks quite harmonious and beautiful.

Naturalness

This point has a lot in common with the previous one. The perfect farmhouse-style patio may look a little neglected. You can skip the trouble of planting special grass, allowing weeds and wild flowers to pop up here and there on your property. And the walls of the gazebo or the house itself may well be entwined with ivy or wild grapes.

But such negligence is only an appearance. For landscape maintenance rustic style the owners spend no less free time.

Layout

Just like modern yards, traditional farmhouse style lots need to be carefully planned. Typically, one site is divided into five main zones. This is a garden, a vegetable garden, decorative flower beds, a place to store household utensils and a relaxation area. Each of them is equally important and it is worth allocating at least a little free space for it.

All zones need to be separated from each other not only visually, but also with the help of stones, fencing or even hedges. Most practical way– decorate the paths by sprinkling them with fine gravel or leftover wood. On the one hand, you will get comfortable paths that are pleasant to walk on, and on the other, a beautiful detail that will complement your area.

If you ride bicycles or own own car, then you will also need a driveway. On both sides of it you can lay out stones, plant flowers or even low thujas.

Flowers

But what you definitely shouldn’t do is create some overly complex floral arrangements or use flowers that are unusual for the region in which we live. The best flowers for decorating a plot in the village are nasturtium, mallow, rose or bright yellow sunflower.

In addition to low, neat flowers, you can also use flowering shrubs. For example, jasmine, lilac or even hops. It will green one of the walls with its green leaves.

You can also use climbing plants as partitions. They will braid a structure of any height. This living partition of natural green color fits perfectly into the style of the site.

Flowers and flower beds can be located anywhere on the site. Most often they decorate the entrance to the yard or area next to the recreation area. This way, you and your guests can always admire the beautiful flowers in your yard.

Trees and orchard

Once you have created a bright floral background on your site, you can proceed to planting trees. Most hardworking owners prefer to choose fruit trees rather than ornamental ones for their plots in order to get the maximum benefit.

Even if you are not looking for a big harvest, it will be nice to treat yourself on a summer morning with a plate of freshly picked apricots or apple compote. How dense and varied the garden will be depends on your preferences and the size of the plot. But at least a few trees are worth planting.

Garden

Nowadays, few people want to start a large garden, on the care of which they have to spend the lion’s share of their free time. But at the same time, garden beds are an integral part of the rustic style. As a compromise, you can create a small vegetable garden. It will take only a couple of free meters, and you will not only get a beautiful addition to the site, but also a place to grow vegetables, berries or herbs.

It is not necessary to allocate one continuous plot of land for the garden bed. On the contrary, it will be better if you do exactly the same as with flower beds - divide the territory into several identical squares and fence them off from each other using stones or low wicker fences and narrow paths. This looks more aesthetically pleasing, and it is much easier to care for such beds. In neat squares you can grow green cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, cilantro, basil and so on. It is recommended to allocate the most sunlit area for the beds.

Rest zone

Even in the countryside you need to be able to rest well. On rural plot there is no place for an elegant gazebo with luxurious decor. Replacing it is simple wooden table, surrounded by wicker chairs, and covered with a canopy.

Decor

Rustic-style private yards can be decorated with whatever you can get your hands on. This is both profitable and practical. You won’t spend a single ruble on such decor. To decorate the area adjacent to the house, you can use old carts, wheels, wooden wheelbarrows that can no longer be used for their intended purpose, or even buckets and watering cans. They can be placed and hung around the site or even used as impromptu flower beds, filled with earth and flowers.

Every owner country house or a small summer cottage dreams of having your own little paradise on earth. Previously, it was believed that for high-quality landscaping of a personal plot it was necessary to hire a professional landscape designer and give away a lot of money. Yes, and take care of such beauty all year round not everyone can do it, especially if the family chooses to go to the dacha seasonally and depending on the weather and workload.

This article will cover general rules site design, thanks to which everyone can independently form an idea of what an ideal site in front of a country house should look like.

Peculiarities

First, it’s worth understanding what such a fashionable phrase now means – landscape design. We can say that this is an art based on the intersection of architectural design, gardening and landscaping, as well as reference to the history of the design of the site, especially during the reign of individuals who loved to luxuriously decorate their country residences.

Just some twenty or thirty years ago, the minimum required of the yard in front of a private house was for the car to be parked under a canopy and the rake not to get wet in the rain. The modern owner is trying, as they say, to combine business with pleasure - to have a garden, a vegetable garden and a rich harvest, as well as a recreation area with the opportunity to barbecue or play with the children.

A harmonious combination of utilitarian needs with the desire to receive aesthetic pleasure from your summer cottage is the main purpose of landscape design.

The need to decorate natural areas appeared in the Middle Ages, finally branching off into separate science in the 17th-19th centuries at the imperial courts of France, Great Britain and, of course, Russia. Remember the magnificent decoration of residences such as Versailles or Petrodvorets in St. Petersburg. A particularly urgent need for specialists in landscape design appeared only in the middle of the twentieth century, mainly in the countries of Western Europe, where industrialization was advancing on cities by leaps and bounds.

There are few natural parks left in modern megacities, so corners of wildlife are created on the roofs of skyscrapers and even underground.

In Russia, people who work in stuffy offices for a whole week also want to come to their dacha for the weekend and forget about all their pressing problems to the sound of a fountain and the rustling of leaves.

The main components of a properly designed suburban area are as follows:

  • Actually, buildings or large architectural objects that create the basis of the composition. When building the house itself, you already need to think about how its cladding or the shape of the roof will be combined with a garden gazebo or driveway decoration. The buildings complementing the ensemble include a house for gardening tools, a gazebo and its varieties, a bathhouse, a house for guests or servants, a boiler room, a stable, pens for livestock, and in simpler dachas - places for performing hygiene procedures or country toilet and an outdoor shower.

  • A green covering in the form of a lawn, which includes various types of grass and even small flowers. Of course, there are options when almost the entire space is occupied by stone or concrete platform, but this is rather an exception to the rule. Dense grass on which you can lie down and play with children is the basis of any summer cottage area.

  • Various plantings, both in the form of large trees and a combination of shrubs, flowers and other forms of green flora. Naturally, vegetable bushes and fruit trees already grow in any garden bed, but the landscape design does not end there. Trees should grow in the garden that do not bring any benefit in the form of fruits, but complement the aesthetic component of the recreation area, creating shade like a gazebo or serving as a support for a table or hut.

  • Man-made decorative elements, such as ponds with fountains, alpine stone slides, sculptures, entire installations in the form of houses, bridges and everything that your imagination can come up with. Such decorations allow you to turn your dacha into a theme park of a certain era or country, and it’s also a joy for children.

  • Finishing touches- these are small designer trinkets that create a general atmosphere of comfort - candles, lanterns, napkins, cutlery, accessories for the fireplace or hearth, garden furniture.

Planning and zoning

Any design, including landscape design, begins with a detailed elaboration of the plan and sketch of the garden, where each object and the location of communications for it will be marked. Relatively speaking, the sketch is a square or rectangle, the sides of which are the boundaries of the fence of the site.

On this plan, both the house itself and all outbuildings must be marked.

The preliminary plan should also note the terrain, especially when it is not uniform. It is believed that if the site is relatively smooth, then the owner is lucky and on such a site one can easily do anything. In principle, this is true; on flat ground it is easier to install a pool or lay a foundation for a gazebo.

If you correctly understand the basics of planning on hilly terrain, then this disadvantage can be turned into an advantage and your own unique design project. On the hills you can build so-called hanging gardens, a multi-level waterfall or a flower arch and a staircase descending from it to the house.

The key to successfully creating a plan is correct zoning of the territory.

The main zones into which the plot is divided, whether in a villa or a small country plot, are as follows:

Front entrance area

This is the area from the entrance to the house to the sliding gate. This is, in fact, the face of the house and the face of the owners, so most often the place is decorated in strict classic style. Standard brick and stone of discreet colors are used as materials for cladding architectural objects and paving paths.

It is better to lay the path along the shortest direct path from the gate to the door, otherwise numerous guests will take a shortcut along the lawn or flower beds.

Parking zone

With the advent of a second or even a third car in almost every family, more and more important. Let's start with the fact that the car must drive through the territory of the dacha minimum distance so as not to pollute clean air with exhaust gases and not tire both owners and neighbors with engine noise.

This means that all objects must be planned as close as possible to the entrance to the territory, but so that it does not stick right under the windows or right next to the gazebo for relaxation.

It is better to pave the driveway with asphalt or concrete without frills, rather than trying to incorporate it into a general ensemble of gravel, cut stone or wooden blocks.

This area bears the heaviest load when vehicles weighing more than a ton constantly pass through it, so the main thing is that it does not start to crumble. Yes, and for wheels any smooth surface quite harmful.

The safest and most environmentally friendly option is to create a covered parking area. If the area of the plot or finances do not allow such luxury, then you can build at least a canopy from durable transparent plastic , and cover the support pillars to match the main building - with brick, wood and any other material.

Area for economic and domestic purposes

These are buildings necessary for the functioning of the dacha for its intended purpose. This includes, first of all, a house for gardening tools or just a temporary warehouse, where on especially hot nights you can arrange a sleeping place.

If people live permanently in a country house and keep livestock and poultry, then there should be separate pens for them on this site. You can also add a bathhouse with a sauna, combining it with a boiler room and, if possible, hiding these buildings behind trees.

All of the above buildings are usually built at different times and at random - no single style, no similar material for cladding. So then we have to cover all these different structures with trees or fountains.

You can think through everything in advance and design all the houses in the form of Chinese pagodas or village huts. I don’t want to hide such an architectural ensemble, but, on the contrary, to show it off and show off to everyone.

Plot for gardening

But the Russian mentality does not allow having a dacha exclusively with flower beds. True, these days there are people who want to come to a country house just for clean air and enjoyment of the views of nature. Zoning without a vegetable garden is suitable for them.

However, the majority prefers to come outside the city, work hard, then relax, and at the end of the season, reap a rich harvest.

The size of the area for fruit planting depends on overall size plot - for some it will take up the entire area, leaving room only for a small gazebo with folding furniture. Ideally, the vegetable garden should occupy no more than two-thirds of the local area so that zoning can be carried out more or less evenly.

So, it is better to leave a field with potatoes behind the house and not build a fountain or barbecue next to it. But fruit trees or gooseberry bushes can fit well into an area with gazebos, providing shade and being an additional decorative element.

Lounge area

This is a place for relaxation, the type of which depends on the degree of activity of the leisure activity itself. Most often, within this perimeter there is a set of a gazebo or any of its varieties, a table, a barbecue or fireplace, a fountain or a pond, sun loungers and everything your heart desires.

If the area allows, the owner will install a real pool.

In this area, the climatic factor is very important, since if it is not taken into account, the holiday can turn into disappointment. Firstly, in northern latitudes, where most of the year there are low, almost winter temperatures and little sun, you should not build an outdoor pool or light gazebo without walls. If possible, all structures should be as insulated as possible, and preferably closed. The ideal option is, for example, a gazebo with a retractable transformable roof, but alas, such a pleasure cannot be called cheap.

Vacations should bring pleasure, so its design must be thought through especially carefully.

Game Zone

It is needed by fans of active sports that require professional coverage or at least a strong lawn. This refers to a tennis, golf or football field, when it is unlikely that you will be able to fully play on an ordinary small lawn.

Such objects can be added to the zoning plan if they have a very large local area. It is better to move them away from the main building so that residents do not suffer from excess noise, and also enclose the playing fields with a net or light fence.

Children's zone

It can be combined with a play area, but, of course, it is more interesting for school-age children to retire to a separate and very distant part of the summer cottage from adults. There you can build a mini basketball court, a swing, a hut or even a tree house.

On the contrary, the territory for small children is chosen closer to home so that mom can always see from the window how her baby is playing in the sandbox or riding on the carousel. Horizontal bars and Swedish stairs You can add children of any age to the place of deployment, because playing sports in the fresh air is doubly useful, and it would not be a sin for adults to join.

Location of buildings

The main buildings on the site must be located so that they look harmonious and uniform both in terms of functionality and aesthetic canons.

However, there are also the following standards that every builder must comply with in accordance with sanitary and hygienic rules:

  • According to the rule on the correct distance between objects, the main building, and indeed any residential building, must be at least 3 m away from the road. If the dacha is located near a busy highway, then the house is hidden from it at least 6 m, and it is advisable block it with as many trees as possible.
  • Any building should be no closer than 1-2 m from the fence, although few people follow this rule. Sometimes the wall of a house simply merges with the neighbor’s fence, which not only hinders them in terms of sound insulation, but can be simply dangerous. So, if, as a result of soil subsidence, the house begins to move to the side or collapse, it will also damage someone else’s territory. The same rule applies to planting large shrubs and trees close to the fence, because they can grow and simply break the fence or end up in someone else’s garden, shielding the plantings from the sun.

  • The main residential building and all outbuildings must be separated from each other by at least 7-10 m. Mold and high humidity can form in temporary sheds, warehouses, boiler rooms and other rooms, because they are not as well insulated as housing. And in the event of a fire, the further away individual objects are from each other, the less likely it is that the flame will quickly spread from one point to another.
  • A doghouse or even an entire enclosure is installed at a distance of 4-5 m from the house in order not to disturb the owners’ sleep, and in accordance with sanitary and hygienic standards.
  • The most unpleasant buildings, such as a street toilet and a pit with manure, are located at least 15 m from the house, if the site area of at least 6 acres allows. So the smell is not so strong, and in the event of a sewerage breakdown, trouble will not reach the house. The same distance is maintained when digging a well also because the hole under it is at least 5-10 m deep and the foundation of the living space can sag from it.

There are also a number of techniques that purely visually improve the appearance of even the smallest and most unsightly area at first glance.

So, in order to visually increase the area of the territory in front of the house, it is better to space separate utility rooms further away from each other to free up the entrance area directly. In front of the house there is usually a place for relaxation - a grill, benches, a gazebo, and if during a picnic your gaze constantly rests on the brick walls of the sheds, then the area will automatically shrink before your eyes.

If you remove all the unnecessary rubbish from the backyard, take the remaining building materials and special equipment into the shed, cut down the extra trees and level the ground, then you can make a good place to relax from a landfill common to Russian summer residents. Then before front door and there will be more space left, and there will be somewhere to put the cars.

The veranda can serve simultaneously as part of the living space, and as an outbuilding, as a recreation area for the owners.

If you glaze it and plant decorative ivy or similar plants on the roof and walls, then you don’t have to build a separate gazebo and save space.

landscaping

An integral element of landscape design is proper landscaping of the territory. Correctly decorating a site with plants can not only decoratively improve the appearance of the site, but also help to distinguish different zones according to their functional purpose.

You should choose plants that will definitely take root in the climate, topography and soil composition of the area in which the summer cottage is located.

It is useless to try to plant a lawn in central Russia with palm trees or tangerine trees; they will freeze anyway. Alternatively, you can grow exotic trees and flowers in a greenhouse in separate tubs, and take them out into the fresh air in the summer. In this case, the greenhouse should be a specially equipped heated room with microclimate sensors and lighting, and not just a piece of land over which a piece of plastic film has been stretched.

The first thing the planting process begins with is the lawn. It is also necessary to choose it not only depending on the weather, but also on its functional purpose. The most popular option is the so-called domestic lawn for recreation. It is unpretentious in operation, grows well even in poor soil and low temperatures oh, and also does not sag under such loads as children playing or adults frying kebabs.

There are also such decorative lawns as a dense high meadow. It is not very comfortable to walk on it; it squashes a lot, so it is more suitable for an area far from the house, where no one will run along it.

Another type of lawn that is not intended for people to relax on is the flowering or Moorish type of lawn. Here, low grass grows mixed with different flowers, creating the illusion of alpine water meadows.

Well, you need to choose a special covering for a tennis court or football field, because an ordinary lawn will simply fall to pieces after the first game.

In order to always have dazzling green blooming lawn, you will have to put in a lot of work. It must be fertilized for the lawn to take root, constantly watered and loosen the soil.

If there is simply no time for all these manipulations, you can use a rolled lawn. It is easy to lay, you don’t have to wait a whole year for the grass to grow, and at the end of the season you can simply roll it up and throw it away if the lawn has become unusable.

Next, the site is planted with trees and large shrubs to mark the main points along which the territory is zoned. The courtyard can be separated from the entrance passage with just such fruit trees- they will provide shade and serve as a natural support for the bench. Just because when they grow they provide a lot of shade, It’s better not to plant them close to the beds so that the trees do not block all other vegetables and berries from accessing the precious sun.

It is best to carry out such plantings in the northern part of the site so that they do not disturb anyone there.

If you want trees to please the eye with their greenery all year round, then plant the area with conifers mixed with fruit trees. They almost never wither with proper care; they only need a little watering and rare sun.

Various thujas, spruce and fir trees are good at camouflaging outdoor toilets or cesspools - both visually and with their strong pine smell. A row of thujas can be used to make a gorgeous hedge, because they can be planted close to each other. And no one has canceled the wonderful Russian tradition of decorating the Christmas tree for the New Year.

Shrubs also perfectly play the role of a hedge, and zoning with their help is more successful. The neighbors, of course, will still see you through the low-growing bushes, but there will seem to be more space.

Flowers are the main decoration of any country house. They are annual, biennial and perennial. It’s easier to choose the latter and enjoy them for several seasons without starting new sowing and planting work every summer.

Of course, for those who want variety, you can come up with an option to annually add new annuals to the main backbone of the flower bed.

The plant composition will delight the owners most of the year if you choose flowers in the neighborhood in such a way that their flowering seasons follow one after another. They should also be approximately the same in size within the same area, so that larger specimens do not squeeze out or overlap all the others.

The main way create a unique atmosphere of an old estate - the so-called vertical gardening. By using climbing plants type of grapes sweet pea, hops or the most popular of them all, clematis, you can bring beauty, create a semblance of a wall or roof near the gazebo, and hide from the heat. You can decorate both a porch and an open gazebo-pergola with such bindweed.

It is worth remembering that the same clematis needs to be trimmed in a timely manner so that overgrown branches do not intertwine around electrical wires or get into the windows. And since such thickets do not allow the sun to pass through, moisture will collect in them, so it is better to plant them on the north side of the building.

photos

Flower arrangements may be designed differently. If you know the professional classification, it will be easier to zone even the most unsightly areas of the dacha with them.

Rabatka- a type of flower bed when a stripe of low-growing flowers runs along the edge of the lawn, like a bright carpet. The plants needed for such planting are pelargonium or sedum. These two species take root best in the unstable climate of central Russia.

Border- the name speaks for itself, that is, flowers also grow along the perimeter of a lawn or path in the manner of a carpet, only high, that is, a border. For these purposes, perennial flowers such as asters or marigolds, identical in their properties, are suitable.

The effect of a border does not have to be created on the ground - if you plant perennials in oblong boxes, you can separate the areas around the perimeter of the porch with them or place them on the railing of the gazebo.

Mixborder– this is a set of plants that are completely different in size and flowering period. The main idea of this type of landscaping is the effect of continuous blooming and the combination of annuals and perennials with different phases of flowering, following each other.

Yes, this type of landscape design is very difficult to maintain - some flowers need to be removed, others replanted, and so on all the time. But if you strengthen the tubs with such splendor into special shapes like a ship or a bicycle and put them indoors during cold weather, then the mixborder will delight the eye with bright colors all year round.

Styles

First of all, it’s worth understanding the main style categories for organizing a personal plot. They clearly began to differ already in the 18th century with the advent of court gardens not only among rulers, but also simply among rich and influential people of that time.

Classic or regular park is a combination of smooth lines in flower beds and paths, clear geometric shapes and perfectly trimmed shrubs and thujas. Paths are usually covered with fine gravel, including colored gravel; it is also present as a decorative element in the form of patterns in flower beds. As decorations at the end of the paths, there are white marble sculptures, openwork benches, square gazebos and entire covered pavilions.

Ponds are also found, but with the purest water and without unnecessary plants, which cause the water to bloom. It is very difficult to maintain such an area, since a whole team of specialists will have to maintain the original shape of the garden almost every day.

A private country house with a local area needs proper organization of the yard. Landscape design is a complex and painstaking process. To create a truly picturesque exterior, you will have to spend no less effort and money than on building and finishing the house itself. But you will be satisfied, as the result will please you long years, and the comfort of a personal plot will allow you to spend a lot of time outdoors in an atmosphere of pampering and bliss.

Peculiarities

To create a landscape design around your country house, you can invite a professional who will draw up a project for you and, after approval, will begin the actual work. This option is suitable for wealthy and busy people who do not like to work on the land and rely on the opinion of professionals in matters of design and style.

But organizing your own piece of paradise with your own hands means immersing yourself in the creative process and creating a truly unique territory design that fully meets your personal requirements, using a minimum of funds.

Nowadays, all landscape tricks can be learned online completely free of charge.

There is another way to save money: you can purchase very young plants. In this case, it is worth considering that it will take time for them to grow and become stronger. You will not see the final result immediately, but only after a few years, but such an investment in the future will keep your wallet in the present.

When purchasing young plants, keep in mind that as they grow, they will need more and more space. Before purchasing such a seedling, study information about what an adult plant looks like and what parameters it reaches. When landing, leave it to everyone young seedling plenty of room to mature.

Competent landscape design not only creates a cozy place to spend time in nature, but also helps solve many issues of imperfect terrain and the size of the site. So, certain order planting flowers, shrubs and trees will help to visually enlarge the yard area, and the harmonious organization of the entrance area can declare your hospitality and prepare you to welcome guests into the house itself.

Climate and relief

Landscape design largely depends on the characteristics of the area. Climate and terrain dictate their own rules, and while something can still be done about changes in ground level, the weather always has its own opinion.

Be sure to study the flora of the strip in which the house is located. Those plants that grow naturally in your climate are best tolerated. winter frosts or very hot summers and high humidity. Specialist breeders are constantly working to develop new varieties of plants that winter better and are at the same time resistant to heat.

Some shrubs or flowers need to be covered for the winter so that they survive it, for example, roses, which often freeze out and are afraid of low temperatures, or thuja, which “burns” in early spring until the root system thaws. The bright spring sun destroys the crown, so it is closed in the fall.

The “unfortunate” terrain of the site can complicate the task of creating an ideal design, but it will definitely add uniqueness. For a beginner, a flat area without strong elevation changes is best. If desired, the level can be leveled, but a voluminous garden can become the highlight of your site.

It is easy to beat a small hill and organize an alpine slide on it; a depression is suitable for an artificial reservoir - a pond with decorative fish and water lilies.

The complex terrain will help you decide on the zoning of your backyard area, designate a place for a gazebo, sun loungers, swings, and a secluded bench where anyone can read a book or indulge in daydreaming.

In addition, the descents and ascents can be decorated with beautiful stairs, which will add originality to the local area. Also, for a sloped area, you can think of a system of interconnecting reservoirs, between which a stream will flow, and the uneven terrain will even organize small waterfalls.

Many companies providing landscape design services specifically develop projects for the vertical layout of the site, artificially creating relief terrain in accordance with the general style of the site and the facade of the house. For example, a chalet-style house needs to imitate the alpine mountainous terrain.

Often difficult terrain can cause water stagnation in the spring during the period of active snow melting and rainy autumn. Because of this, the roots of plants planted in lowlands may rot, and to avoid this, consider a drainage system for water removal.

Site layout

Before you start buying your favorite flower seeds and plants and building small architectural forms, draw a plan that you will stick to. A small drawing will help you understand how many trees, shrubs and flowers are needed, where it is best to locate a recreation area, how and where it is best to lay decorative paths to create the ideal landscape design. In progress direct work It’s better to correct minor points than to redo everything later.

If you have a small area at your disposal (about 6 acres), be sure to take into account the size of the buildings that are usually found on suburban areas.

The following are considered mandatory:

  • House for living;
  • Garage or parking space;
  • Utility room (shed);
  • Gazebo or solarium like a pergola;
  • Paths;
  • Lighting elements;
  • Green spaces;
  • Decorative elements;
  • Garden area;
  • Vegetable garden area.

If the site is larger, the project may also include:

  • Children's playground;
  • Bath;
  • Swimming pool or artificial decorative pond;
  • Greenhouse.

Only after all the necessary buildings have been put on paper is it worth considering in more detail the design of the plan for planting green spaces. In order to see the plan of your site in 3D mode, use a special computer program for landscape design.

The library of such resources contains all kinds of plants, which the creators of the program divided into groups by species and habitat.

Projects designed to design territories of several hectares deserve special attention. Often such open spaces already have a beautiful and established natural landscape, which may include a natural pond and part of the forest. It can be supplemented by creating a large orchard, shady linden alleys, and several recreation areas with gazebos. But the adjacent territory of a mansion or a small courtyard of a villa should be decorated with smaller plants and flower beds.

Zone division options

Proper zoning of the garden area allows you to solve many functional problems, as well as create a cozy atmosphere.

There are several main zones that should be visually separated from each other:

  • Entrance or front door;
  • Parking area;
  • Economic;
  • Vegetable garden area;
  • Gardening and fruit;
  • For an active and quiet holiday;
  • For children's games.

Sometimes the proper location of the house itself on the site solves part of the problem. In this case, for example, the backyard, which is hidden from view, can be reserved for a utility and garden area. If this is not possible, then there is an equally drastic way to fence yourself off - build fences.

A wide gazebo with one blank wall can be an alternative opportunity to hide utility rooms. Hedge from densely planted shrubs or pine needles can become not only a beautiful decorative element, but also a way of zoning. The creation of podiums and open terraces for pergolas and solariums, as well as recreation areas can also be classified as methods of dividing the territory into zones.

Terrain can help solve zoning problems. The construction of retaining walls on a multi-level site and finishing them, for example, with stone, looks very stylish and southern.

Even at the site planning stage, try to create a project in which the recreation area is located as far as possible from the parking lot, then the sound of a running engine and exhaust gases will not disturb your peace.

Late in the evening, proper lighting will hide the utility and garden area from view, bringing to the fore the silence, harmony and relaxation of the recreation area.

Path design

Garden paths are original guides that connect elements of landscape design, small and large architectural forms into a common harmonious ensemble. These lines allow you to set the direction of movement for you and your guests, indicate the advantages and hide the disadvantages of the site.

In the design of paths, the general style of landscape design and the facade of the house is of no small importance.

Already at the design stage it is worth thinking about the shape, width, and material of the paths. Decide what kind of paths they will be - with straight or rounded corners, decorative, winding, or intended exclusively for utilitarian functions.

Decorative options require more imagination and expense to implement, so such paths can only be used in gardening areas and recreation areas. And the rough utilitarian ones are in the transport and access area, between outbuildings for functional purposes.

The width of decorative paths can vary from half a meter to one and a half meters. These parameters are individual for each individual area and depend on its size. The material for creating paths can be stone, concrete, tiles, bricks, pebbles, crushed stone.

When choosing the material and design of the track, consider some factors:

  • soil soil;
  • Possible seasonal ground movements;
  • Ground water level;
  • What is the expected load on the path (pedestrian walks or parking area);
  • Intensity of use.

During direct construction decorative path take care of drainage. To melt or rainwater flowed into the ground, the surface of the path is made slightly inclined. It can be gable or single-pitch.

Landscape road surfaces are divided according to the type of coating into hard and soft. The first type includes brick, concrete, paving slabs, a natural stone, to the second - pebbles, gravel, crushed stone. There are combined types of tracks.

To design a parking area, geogrids are increasingly being used.

The advantage of this method:

  • Clean and well-groomed appearance;
  • Durable design can withstand any weight;
  • Even the parking area is landscaped.

You can make garden paths yourself. The choice of materials is very large, and the technology is not the most complex. Often paths are made of wood. This coating is not as durable as, for example, concrete, but it looks very stylish. Various fantasy elements greatly enliven the site. Patterns laid out from small stones add fabulousness and originality.

It is important that the paths are safe. A surface that is too smooth after rain can become very slippery and cause injury. Choose ribbed materials.

If the site has elevation changes due to the terrain, it is better to include elements with steps or entire stairs.

landscaping

The issue of landscaping is complex and multi-tasking. It is necessary to properly prepare the soil of the site for green spaces and a lawn, study the types of plants that grow in your area, take into account the flowering period of flowers, know what shrubs and trees look like in a mature state in order to competently work out a composition that will look harmonious in a few years and even decades, to know the basic combinations for a possible neighborhood for the purpose of proper watering and fertilizing the soil.

But the result will definitely please you, because a beautifully designed plot is the pride of any amateur gardener.

First of all, you need to decide on a style - regular or natural. Regular involves a symmetrical arrangement of flower beds with flowers and ornamental shrubs along the center line. Often in the center there is a round flower bed with the most beautiful plants.

The paths extending from the central alley have a regular rectilinear or radial shape. Along the paths, flower beds are arranged in the form of ridges; the paths themselves can be framed by low, neatly trimmed boxwood hedges or thujas with a spherical crown, planted at the same distance from each other.

The plants chosen for these flower beds are noble. In spring these are tulips, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths, which are selected by color and size so that the flowerbed does not look variegated, but harmoniously uniform. In summer, primroses are replaced by hybrid tea roses or floribunda roses. Roses are complemented by large-flowered lilies. Lilies are divided into Asian species, trumpet and la hybrids. In central Russia, La hybrids winter better.

Lilies and roses have a huge variety of colors; they are selected according to harmonious shades and placed in flower beds of geometric shapes. The garden is filled with the aromas of these flowers. Lilies of the valley or hostas are planted in shady beds, and border roses are planted in the sun.

Arranging a flower bed continuous flowering, select a set of perennials whose blooms replace each other throughout the season. In spring - bulbous, in summer - roses, lilies, clematis, hydrangeas, in autumn - Belgian aster, physalis, chrysanthemum.

Spruce, thuja, and cypress trees create vertical accents with their regular shape. In the center of the flower beds or at the end of the alley, a fountain or decorative waterfall, which will give a romantic mood to the entire area.

Small architectural forms and sculptures look very harmonious among the green foliage, and benches placed in beautiful places will allow you to relax and enjoy the beautiful view.

In a natural type design, plants are arranged in random order, and symmetry is deliberately avoided. The tracks have irregular shape, can vary in both material and width in accordance with the landscape. This design of the site goes well with the uneven terrain. This is the case when a disadvantage can be turned into an advantage. It is worth building a pond in the lowlands, placing picturesque compositions of conifers on the hills, bright colors, decorative leaf shrubs.

The compositions are made up of a vertical accent - spruce, pine, thuja, cypress, which are located in the background; medium-sized plants with beautiful foliage or flowers are planted on the second row. These may be thunberg barberries with yellow, burgundy, light green foliage, which is shaded by silver needles. Floribunda roses or ground cover roses make up the near row; their flowering is supported by wormwood, catnip, and sage.

These simple perennials frame thick clusters with their tenderness pink flowers. Creeping juniper will be a picturesque frame for such a flower bed. It is also planted along paths. The paws extend onto the path itself, hiding the edge, thereby creating a picturesque forest path.

You can decorate the local area with a rock garden. Choose a place on a hill or on a flat area. Drainage is done, boulders are laid out, earth is poured between them, and plants are planted in these “pockets.” perennials. This could be a composition in the form of a dwarf coniferous forest, junipers, miniature pines, thujas, and spruces. A rockery planted with ground cover perennials looks impressive and is easy to care for. Juvenile, thyme, jasmine, saxifrage and ornamental grasses will be appropriate in the compositions.

A rockery will look natural when decorating a yard in a Japanese style; here the entire emphasis is on the beauty of the stone, so the choice of boulders must be approached especially carefully. The plants used in this case are conifers, dwarf forms, sedges and grasses.

Thin multi-colored spikelets of cereals add sophistication and awe to many plant ensembles. Their height can be adjusted from 50 cm to 1.5 meters. Cereals vary in color - gray, burgundy, golden colors dilute the green foliage of garden plants. Grasses have one unpleasant feature - they are very aggressive towards other plants, so you should think carefully about whether this type of grass is needed on your site.

This flowerbed will have to be constantly monitored to prevent the invader from spreading.

For true aesthetes there is an alpine slide. Its creation is a very labor-intensive process that requires studying specialized literature, but the result will bring untold satisfaction and pride. Natural stone is laid out in steps on top of each other, without forming pockets, the cracks are filled with sandy soil and small crushed stone, creating an analogy to a natural rock formation. Drought-resistant miniature plants are rooted in the spaces between the stones; their growth is extremely small, the flowers are inconspicuous and small, but overall the result is a magnificent appearance.

Vertical accents and decoration of the area during flowering will be shrubs such as barberry with a sweet caramel aroma and many small flowers. The spreading form of barberry creates a natural round cap with a diameter of about 3 meters.

Black elderberry has a graceful shape and does not require pruning; in the spring it is covered with clusters of flowers with an unusual smell, and in the fall with clusters of berries, which combine medicinal properties with toxic substances.

Similar to it are rowan and chokeberry or chokeberry - one with clusters of scarlet color, the other after spring lush flowering By autumn it is covered with black berries full of vitamins. These slender shrubs grow up to 4 meters in height and do not require pruning.

Chubushnik or Russian jasmine is best placed in the background. After the most fragrant flowering, it turns into an inconspicuous bush 2-3 meters high, over time it acquires a “shaggy” appearance and requires shaping.

The beautiful lilac is good both as a separate tree and in a hedge, but here you need to remove the shoots in a timely manner. In garden breeding forms, the shoots are not as aggressive as in natural species.

Viburnum, in addition to wonderful flowering, has a good bush habit, does not require formation, in the fall the foliage acquires a purple palette, in winter the flaming clusters effectively contrast with the whiteness of the snow. It is good both as a tapeworm and as a hedge.

Medium shot will be decorated with thujas, junipers and cypresses. It is better to choose thujas from the western group; they are the most winter-hardy and have a wide variety of species. Medium-height yellow Aurea, Yellow Ribbon, majestic Columna and Holmstrup, spherical Danica, Hoseri will find their place in garden compositions or as tapeworms.

Thuja Brabant and Smaragd are indispensable for hedges.

They lend themselves well to pruning, which allows you to create green shapes from them for decorating the garden. Cypresses and junipers have a picturesque natural shape that gives natural outlines to garden ensembles. The outside can be decorated with flowers.

Vertical gardening complements the visual diversity of garden flora. These are various climbing vines on supports. The palm among beautifully flowering vines belongs to clematis. They are placed on arches or metal mesh supports, often in a duet with roses or hostas, which cover the inconspicuous lower part of the vine.

Honeysuckle honeysuckle has a strong sweet aroma and beautiful pink flowers, similar to oriental chrysanthemums.

Maiden grapes are indispensable for decorating unsightly buildings. You can grow a living wall from Schisandra chinensis and actinidia and get a harvest of healthy vitamin-rich berries.

Paths and flower beds, trees and vines look good against a lush green background, which gives a dense lawn. It needs to be watered regularly, cut at least once every two weeks, and it is not advisable to play outdoor games on it to avoid scuff marks. Such bald spots occur after winter, and then lawn repairs are needed.

In the garden, it is enough to water the area, that is, regularly trim the green vegetation until a green carpet forms, which can be done in a couple of months and 4 haircuts. This grass carpet is durable, you can lie on it, hold competitions, and it does not require watering.

You can arrange a Moorish lawn. The territory is dug up, weeds are removed, the entire area is sown with beautifully flowering herbs. Such a lawn has a significant drawback - it is short-lived, and after flowering it loses its decorative qualities.

Reservoirs

Do not neglect the creation of a pond or stream on your estate. Manufacturers offer a lot of ready-made options for arranging a small pool or pond.

The reservoir can be very small - less than 1 meter in diameter, to large ponds in which you can fish and swim, and sunbathe on the shore or sit by the fire in the evening. The shore of such a pond is lined with grasses, sedges, hostas, irises, and daylilies. Such a pond will look harmonious next to a house built of wooden logs or with stone facades. From the wooden terrace you can admire the reflections of the water in the sun and drink tea.

A private house is good because it has its own yard. It's a good place to relax, you can decorate it the way you want. But everything should be done according to certain rules- landscape design of the yard, that's what it's called. The task is not as simple as it seems.

General principles

To make your yard beautiful, harmonious and comfortable, it is advisable to create a plan before starting work, and then implement this plan into reality. And, by the way, in most cases, when independently developing landscape design, the result is very different from the project. Either we saw a new plant that was not on the plan, or we didn’t like in reality what looked “super” in the picture. However, the landscaping of your home’s yard should be done according to the rules, otherwise you may end up with an uncomfortable yard and an unpresentable appearance.

Preparing a site plan

The first thing you will need is a site plan to scale. You can draw it on a checkered sheet or on graph paper. Accept a certain scale, for example, one meter is one or two cells. In the second option, it will be possible to draw out small details in more detail, but the plan will be large. The plan should indicate:

With this initial plan, you can begin planning your yard. On this plan, it is immediately necessary to highlight shaded areas (the sun appears only for a few hours), partial shade (half of the day is illuminated by the sun) and sunny areas (there is almost no shadow at all) zones. To do this, it is best to take colored pencils and shade the areas with different colors.

Large area for parking cars, a little smaller for barbecue, swimming pool and summer recreation Large or small plot- doesn't matter. Anyone can be cozy Plantings are only around the perimeter of the site, the main area is free - for lawns and flower beds

If there are lower and higher zones on the site, they should also be highlighted. It is also necessary to indicate sources, springs, retaining walls or their intended installation locations, and all other landscape features. All this information should be taken into account when developing the landscape design of the yard.

Deciding on the central object

Before you begin landscaping your yard, you need to decide what you would like to focus on. This refers to a large object: a pond, a fountain, a gazebo with or without a barbecue, a pergola. This object is placed in the central place, and all the other, smaller ones are placed around it. Moreover, if you have chosen a pond, it does not mean that there will be no gazebo or fountain on the site, just that the main object will be the pond. It is the main “feature”, and all other structures will only play on it and complement it.

IN in this case central zone - recreation area and lawn

The same rule applies if you want to make the main “theme of the yard” a recreation area - a gazebo or pergola, just a platform with sofas, benches, a hammock, etc. A pond, a fountain, and small architectural objects may well be located next to them. The idea is that this zone is the highlight of your yard, and all other objects will play off it. Because, in a usually small space, two or three competing ideas mean chaos and lack of harmony.

We find a place for everything

Having decided on the set of desired objects, take a sheet of cardboard and cut out all the objects from it. We cut it out to the scale in which the map was drawn, of the shape in which the construction is planned. You can color it, you can sign it.

We take the images and lay them out on the plan. Place the selected “main object” in the center of the composition. This does not mean that its place is strictly in the center - it can also be on the side of the site. This corner just needs to be visible from the windows and/or from the entrance. After all, you should receive aesthetic pleasure from your yard.

When we have found a place for the central zone, we begin to figure out where to put all the other larger objects. Some may be located close to each other, others at a certain distance. If everything you want doesn’t fit in your space, you’ll have to sacrifice something or downsize. Here everyone decides what is more important to him.

We lay paths and develop a lighting system

When everything you want to see on the site is placed on the plan, it’s time to lay paths and think through the lighting system. Why these two different systems do you need to plan at the same time? Because the paths are usually illuminated, otherwise walking along them at night is not very convenient. So they pull the cables along them, supplying voltage to the lamps, and also extending the lighting to all key points of the yard - to the gazebo, fountain, stream, etc.

When planning paths, there are two basic rules. First, if you need to visually bring an object closer, we lay a straight path. This rule applies if the site is large in area or long and narrow. Another possible area of application is a courtyard decorated in a minimalist style. Here other forms are simply unacceptable - only strict geometric forms. Although, broken lines are also welcome.

In all other cases, they try to avoid straight paths. There is no need to “loop” too much, but winding, smoothly turning paths fit harmoniously into any other yard design style.

When you have outlined it on the plan, draw the lamps to illuminate the yard. Along the paths - every one and a half to two meters, for lighting gazebos and platforms - more often. Illumination of water also looks beautiful if there are “water” objects.

Site layout from improvised means

How else, besides a site plan on graph paper and cardboard analogues of various landscape objects, can you visualize your design project? There is a simple way - using ordinary plasticine or other improvised means. It is better to make a house and other buildings from foam plastic and cardboard, and a gazebo from sticks. Lay out the paths from a material similar to the planned “original”. This will help you evaluate the invented texture and color scheme. Everything else - benches, a pond, fountains, trees, bushes, flowers - we sculpt all this from plasticine. To make it look more realistic, trees and shrubs can be made from twigs by attaching “foliage” of approximately the same shade. And yes, we do everything to scale (for example, 1 meter is equal to 1 cm or 2 cm). This is definitely a three-dimensional 3D image that will accurately convey to you the proportions, convenience and all other nuances of the yard landscape design you created.

Landscape design software

If you are a confident PC user, landscape design programs will help simplify the task of developing a design. The bad news is that they are paid, but creating a landscape design for the yard of a private house will be easy and interesting. There are about a dozen programs, but here are the most popular:

  • Our garden. There is a large built-in library of plants, a planner for paving, fences, gates, etc. It is possible to load missing materials or textures, plants.
  • Google ScatchUp. This is not a specialized program, but it has a landscape planning section, which is very good - it’s full of lessons on working specifically with creating a landscape.
  • Punch. The disadvantage of the program is that it is not possible to add your own objects. You can only use those that are in the software library. Another disadvantage is that there is no way to export the results, that is, you will not be able to use the created project in other programs. But it is simple and requires almost no time to learn.
  • Sierra LandDesigner 3D. Large database of plants and other objects. It is possible to enter your own data and use it in your work. Each possible action has a hint, so it's easy to figure it out as you go. The program specifies the soil type and style you want to decorate your yard. The program will automatically select suitable objects. Once the work is completed, you can print the project and receive an estimate.

Examples of local area planning

Independent landscape design of the courtyard of a private house - not an easy task. The difficulty is that often what looks good in a picture or “in your head” turns out “not so good” in reality. Therefore, it is easier to rely on photos of real objects. At least you can see what happened there. The idea can be taken “entirely”, or it can be partially adapted to suit own desires or conditions.

Example one - with water bodies

For example, center - . Do you also want to have a gazebo, a fountain and a stream, flower beds, benches? In this case, this option would look good:

The option with a “real” stream is easily implemented if there is at least a slight difference in height on the site. The fountain is then placed at the highest point, the pond at the lowest. With this arrangement, water flows by gravity; you just need to organize its supply from the pond to the fountain (using a pump of a certain power and a pipe system).

Landscape design of the courtyard of a private house with a swimming pool opposite the doors

If there is no difference in elevation, there are two options - to make it artificially (a very large amount of work and significant material costs) or to make two autonomous water bodies - a fountain and a pond, and make a “fake” stream out of stones. Another option is not to make a stream at all. An unconnected pond and fountain are also a very viable and beautiful option for decorating a local area.

Example two - in the center there is a recreation area

If the pond is usually located at some distance from the entrance to the house, then a recreation area is often made nearby. But the “recreation area” can be perceived in different ways. For some, these are comfortable sofas and benches on which it is convenient to read; for others, it is a platform with a gazebo and a table, with a barbecue located nearby.

Recreation area - everyone understands it differently

Depending on your wishes, a recreation area of any type can be close to the entrance, or maybe at the opposite end of the site. And near the same gazebo there may be a pond or fountain. But not a gazebo near a pond, but a pond near a gazebo. This is the difference. The path from the entrance leads to the gazebo, and from it you can get to the pond.

Near the gazebo, indoor or outdoor area for relaxation, flower beds, rock gardens, and rockeries can be located. Along the path there are flower beds, taller plants - bushes and trees, in the shade of which it is reasonable to place benches. But no matter what you plant along the path, the main object should be visible in perspective - a gazebo or area with sofas.

Photo ideas of beautiful corners of private courtyards

Landscaping a yard is not an easy task even for professionals, and even more so for amateurs. There are too many nuances to know. It’s much easier to find a design you like and then reproduce the photo on your site.

Front garden

A front garden is a small part of the area between the facade of the house and the fence. Not everyone wants to place a house close to the sidewalk, just as not everyone wants to move it far into the interior of the site. So you end up with a narrow (a meter or two) strip of land in front of the house, which cannot be improved in any way except with flowers and shrubs.

No matter how narrow the strip between the fence and the house is, it is advisable to divide it into two zones - a flower garden and a path. A path is not necessarily a continuous tile or other covering. This can be lawn grass with tiles laid in random order (with gaps).

A path is desirable - you will need to take care of the plants once again without worrying about the cleanliness of your shoes

If the climate is hot, the area is dry, or there is no desire/opportunity to tinker with the grass, you can replace the grass with mulch or fine gravel. An excellent composition is obtained from painted colored gravel and several beautiful plants.

Pay attention to the location of the plants - it depends on the type of fence. If the fence is solid, you need to develop a planting plan so that they look good from the windows. In this case, the tallest plants are located closer to the fence, the shortest ones - closer to the house. If the fence is sparse, more decorative, and you want a beautiful view from the street, we change the planting plan exactly the opposite: the tallest plants are along the house, the shortest ones are closer to the street.

If the “face” of the front garden is facing the street Flowers or plants of approximately the same height - if you need everything to look decent from all sides An interesting option - convenient, beautiful and unusual Traditional design of the area in front of the fence

If you want a beautiful view from both sides, there are two options. First, we plant small and medium-sized varieties of flowers and greenery in the flower garden. Secondly, we divide the front garden into several zones, make separate flower beds or alpine slides/rock gardens that look good from any point.

Entrance/entrance group

The entrance group is the area near the porch, the entrance group is near the gate. As you understand, the design is different, although there are common features: all “decorations” should not block the view. You should be able to clearly see who is entering or entering your territory. Therefore, mainly medium-sized and low-growing plants are used.

The traditional way to design an area near a porch or gate is flower beds or flower beds. They can be of a standard type - only plants different types, which create a constantly blooming or greening carpet.

Dwarf trees - unusual and beautiful

You can also follow the latest trends in landscape design - occupy most of the area with decorative crushed stone or mulch, and plant plants at a distance from each other. In addition to the modern look, this option is good because fewer plants require less care, and less money will be spent on purchasing. This will really help you get by with “little blood” if you have just started to implement the landscape design you created for the courtyard of a private house into reality. Buying and planting too many plants at one time requires a lot of money and time. And so, you can add plants step by step, at the same time adjusting the plan along the way.

Path design

Having planned the paths, you still need to choose the material from which they will be made. The standard approach is paving slabs, but it requires a lot of money, although the coating is reliable and comfortable. If finances are tight, you can temporarily. Some of them require little money, but they look great and are good to use.

You can plant low-growing shrubs along the edge of the paths - make it low-growing. If you have no time to wait until the shrub grows, plant low-growing varieties colors. They come in different heights, colors and flowering times.

The second often built-in design option for places along paths is flower beds. And, again, they can be made “in a modern way” - against the background of backfilling with crushed stone or mulch. This cannot be called a rockery, although the idea was taken from there.

Backyard

All theoretical calculations about landscape design of the yard were, in fact, about how to arrange the backyard. It is this part of the courtyard that is closed from prying eyes and it is here that you want it to be beautiful, cozy and comfortable. We won’t talk about planning again, but we’ll talk about how and what is the best way to pave this area.

If you are planning a piece of paradise in your backyard, you have no problems. Plants, lawns, paths, everything will be described, how and what to do is clear. But if you want to make a recreation area here so that you can put a table for the summer, lounge chairs to lie in the sun, maybe install a pool? What should the backyard cover be like then? There are options:

  • Lawn. This is an excellent option if the groundwater level is low, the soil drains water well, or the area is well-drained. If not, there will be puddles, mud, problems with the grass.

    For some, comfort is tall grass. A barbecue area at the far end of the yard is reasonable. In the backyard of a private house, you can arrange a waterfall, and also a brick barbecue. The most natural landscape is possible.

  • Lay paving slabs or pave everything with flagstone - a good option even for clay soils with a high groundwater level, easy to maintain. But he is too “urban”, tough and unforgiving.
  • Combine lawn with tiles. Very the right approach. It’s comfortable, and beautiful, and there’s not much dirt, and there’s room to walk around barefoot.

As you can see, there are three options, but there are thousands, or even more ways to implement them. Different styles registration, various plants, combinations of materials, furniture, decorations, ponds/fountains/benches/swings. It’s impossible to count everything. All this allows you to create your own yard. Individual and different from others.

We will send the material to you by e-mail

Sometimes people look longingly at photographs of fabulously beautiful green-flowering designs of private homesteads and believe that they may not have enough money for such beauty. This is only partly true: if you create a landscape design for the courtyard of a private house (we will definitely show the photo) systematically, then you can create an equally beautiful piece of paradise for yourself. It’s just that not everyone knows where to start, but a good advisor, an online magazine website, will tell you and show you how you can and should create your own little Eden.

A harmoniously designed and properly decorated local area will have a calming effect. This is a single ensemble of living nature and human creations

When there are a lot of fantasies and ideas wandering around in your head, in which the yard becomes a fairy tale, it is very difficult to draw up an action plan. The biggest mistake would be not to think through the design of the territory as a whole, but to act chaotically, designing everything “piece by piece.” In this case, individual zones may turn out beautiful, but the same impression that pictures of luxurious mansions in magazines make can never be achieved.

You can usually find zoning recommendations in articles. This is true, but private home properties are sometimes such that you first need to decide on the function of the front, back yard and recreation area. At the planning and design stage, you need to clearly understand: all buildings and green spaces require maintenance. It’s not enough to plant a tree or make a flowerbed; plantings need regular care. Therefore, if there is not enough time for something, from the word “absolutely”, you should not include such an object in the plan if you do not want to see the yard in unsightly desolation.

Front yard

Based on the size of the site, they plan the placement of various functional and aesthetic buildings. The arrangement of the local area of a private house includes a garage, flower beds, a platform in front of the house, a path to the guest house and to the backyard, ornamental trees. The front yard is the front yard of the house, and the photos confirm this.

Must be beautiful both outside and inside. This is an architectural form that serves as the distant background of the entire site.

The path leading to a country house can wind between green spaces or be straight, creating an alley. If the yard is small, then a winding path will be inappropriate.

Backyard

In the backyard there are usually outbuildings, a swimming pool, a bathhouse, a vegetable garden, a sports ground, and a children's recreation area. It’s easy to make the backyard in a private house cozy with your own hands. Why shouldn’t a bathhouse be combined with a home? After all, for many it is very convenient. Well, no one has canceled fire safety rules, and it is better to locate such a fire-hazardous building away from the house. In addition, a separate building provides a completely different atmosphere of privacy and comfort.

Gradually, acting according to the planned plan, the yard will be improved and acquire the desired appearance. If you develop all the stages in as much detail as possible, right down to where to purchase what material and at what time of year, the result will be impressive. Of course, you need to understand that the art of landscape design is not a one-day process. Plants planted along the fence will not amaze with their majestic beauty in the first year; perennial vines also take time, like woody forms. In any case, you should put your dream yard on paper and figure out point by point what is in what order and how to do it.

The patio area is a relaxation area where you can have a good time with a glass of juice in good company or with a book.

It is possible to exclude a recreation area, but this is the same as depriving your own soul of recharging.

Open areas

Open areas do not require a canopy or roof; they are placed either in the shade of trees or in bright sun.

Play area and swimming pool

The word “child” is usually associated with the phrase “play area”, but not everyone has children. It's not just about children's play area- adults also love ball games, tennis, and sports equipment. If space allows, why not set aside a corner for physical relaxation?

The pool can be quite small, the main thing is that there is a water drainage system and a covering that protects the water from blooming in the sun.

Garden

Not everyone has the desire to plant a garden: caring for seedlings, spraying trees, pruning, treating, harvesting and processing them require time and effort. But is it really bad when plump apples and pears are at hand, bright orange sea buckthorn hangs in juicy clusters, a beautiful dogwood with its fire berries decorates the plot? There are many different shrubs and trees that, in addition to bearing fruits in summer and autumn, decorate the garden with wonderful flowers in spring.

Grandparents' vegetable garden is a thing of the past: why exhaust yourself weeding paths if they can be cultivated once and for all?

Recommendation! It is not necessary to pave paths between the beds; the lawn will exclude any weed.

Arrangement of the yard of a private house depending on the stylistic direction I

Many people like to look at photos of beautiful courtyards of a private house, hoping to create a miracle with their own hands. own plot. Well, it's absolutely real. If you don’t try to arrange the territory in the same style, you will end up with something motley, devoid of a single concept. Such a yard would not be called special. When there is a desire to create something aesthetic, cultured, beautiful, they do not act on the principle “I made it from what was.”

The issue of choosing a style is the second most important point after zoning. All materials and decorative elements must be selected in accordance with the chosen garden style. Among the styles in which you can arrange your yard are Mediterranean, English and Japanese. They are not found all the time and amaze with their novelty, originality and culture.

Mediterranean style

How to decorate the yard of a private house in a Mediterranean style? For northern yards this is quite problematic due to the characteristics of the local flora. In general, the style reflects the shores south seas: an abundance of processed and untreated stone, rounded pebbles, terraces, stairs, shading from the sun. In northern gardens there is no need to shade the garden at all, but terracing allows you to grow more heat-loving plants in the summer.

The abundance of stone eliminates excess vegetation, but people whose garden is located in the steppe zone should take into account that the stone heats up well, and not every plant will be happy about this, because the climate is by no means marine!

English style

If you want to improve the yard in a private house, as in the photos showing decorous English gardens, then you should immediately understand that it will not be possible to create the ideal option everywhere. Many plants in an English garden will feel better in the harsh conditions of Siberia than in the hot steppe lands. But if you want, you can create an oasis in the desert, right?

For English style Naturalness is characteristic in everything except the neatly trimmed lawn. The lush greenery here is divided by winding paths, the flower beds have an irregular shape, the trees look untrimmed, but in fact, each leaf is in its place by the will of the gardener.

Japanese style

The refined taste of the Japanese, their special sense of beauty and ability to find beauty in those things that other people will pass by - everything is reflected in the Japanese style in the garden.

If the main characteristics of the owner of the house are patience, hard work, and the ability to contemplate, then such a garden will become the embodiment of the mystery of the soul for a person.
