Private and facing stone made of baked clay is a universal construction material. Therefore, a simple brick grill can be built even without mortar. a quick fix. A stationary hearth made of this material is considered simple if its design does not have a chimney.

Clay and ceramic bricks can withstand extreme temperatures, but have a significantly shorter lifespan in furnaces and hearths than fireclay fireclay. Therefore, the simplest temporary barbecues are made of ordinary brick, and in stationary fireplaces of simple design, the inside of the firebox can be lined with fireclay lining.

Even if to a rectangular brick box add legs made of the same material, the structure will still remain a barbecue. As soon as the master covers the firebox with a roof, it will automatically turn into a barbecue oven, although without a chimney, but with a hole for removing combustion products.

"March"

From a few bricks, accidentally found or specially taken for a country picnic, you get the simplest fireplace for frying meat on skewers over coals. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the nuances:

  • brick has standard sizes 25 x 12.5 x 6 cm, to save building materials and space in the trunk of a car, it should be installed on its edge;
  • for normal roasting of meat without burning, the skewers should be 20 - 25 cm away from the coals, so at least 2 rows of bricks will be required;
  • the width of the brick “box” is taken for standard skewers to be 37 cm, that is, 1 brick;
  • barbecue length for small company is 75 cm, that is, 3 bricks.

They just took a few bricks and made this super quick structure on site, according to this drawing!

Thus, in total you will need at least 16 bricks standard format. Each one weighs 3.5kg for a total of 56kg minimum. The hearth manufacturing technology is as follows:

After the coals have cooled, the structure is disassembled and the turf is laid in place.

Classic grill

For a stationary fire on the site, you will need a base made of non-metallic material (sand or crushed stone), compacted with a vibrating plate or manual tamper. If the weight of the structure exceeds 450 kg, a monolithic reinforced concrete foundation. For a home craftsman with minimal mason skills, a do-it-yourself brick grill, the simplest and most inexpensive one in the bottom photo in the shape of a rectangular box, is more suitable.
The manufacturing technology is as follows:

You can make this one the cheapest stationary grill-B-B-Q

The main nuances for this modification of the hearth are:

  • there is no need for an ordering scheme, since it is impossible to make a mistake in this case;
  • the bottom row (called a bottom in kilns) is necessary to prevent the destruction of concrete from extreme temperatures; it is recommended to lay it out with refractory bricks;
  • waterproofing is needed to prevent destruction concrete foundation and masonry from soil moisture (not to be confused with groundwater!), is made from rolled bitumen materials, pieces of which are laid under the foundation before it is poured or the first row on a base made of non-metallic material.

Don't forget to waterproof the bottom row.

All other designs of brick barbecues are more complex, so order is required. But they are more convenient to use. Here are a few more photos where you can see other interesting options:

Well, and a video on how to do masonry correctly:

BBQ oven

Unlike a classic barbecue, a barbecue simplifies the preparation of meat by placing it on a grill rather than on skewers. A simple budget barbecue grill is built from brick using the following technology:

Scheme of a ready-made budget brick barbecue

Attention: A grill with a drawer for ash and a grate above it for placing coals is considered more convenient to maintain.

This design is slightly different from the described version:

  • after making the legs under the back and side walls of the barbecue on the spoon row, the brick of the next level is laid with a poke (side walls only);
  • then another spoon and tie rows are laid out.

With retractable hearth

On the resulting lower protrusion a metal drawer for ash. A grate for coals is placed on the upper ledge. If you make another ledge in the same way, you will get a convenient drying rack for berries and mushrooms.

Well detailed video, for clarity:

Without solution

If there are bricks left over from the construction site on the site, you can use it to build an inexpensive temporary barbecue as soon as you see the guests suddenly arriving. The main manufacturing nuances are:

  • without mortar, the half-brick legs are too unstable, so it is better to replace them with 4 pedestals (columns) 1 x 1 brick with a row of bandages;
  • instead of a sheet of iron, you can use a piece of any sheet material(OSB, plywood), but 2 continuous rows of bricks must be laid above it;
  • The height of the barbecue box is 2 - 3 rows, the dimensions are at the discretion of the home craftsman.

Quickly fold without solution

Attention: The construction is considered temporary, “in a hurry”; bricks stained with coals and ash are difficult to wash, so it is better to use ordinary rather than facing stone.

For detailed instructions, watch the video:

Quite an attractive barbecue grill original design is an option made from several rows of bricks without mortar in the shape of a round cabinet.

This can be quickly built simply from what you have on hand.

Additional elements for simple barbecues

When added to a design additional functions For a stationary fireplace, you will need to make drawings or sketches for it by hand. Since the hearth will be more complex, errors may occur during the construction of the masonry. Main additional elements for a simple barbecue are: a cutting table, a brazier stove and a sink.

Cutting table

An inexpensive option that significantly increases the comfort of use is the simplest do-it-yourself brick grill with a cutting table using the following technology:

  • the rear wall lengthens, ligation with the central wall-stand becomes more difficult;
  • in addition to the above structures, another wall-rack is built on the side, close to the masonry of the hearth;
  • A tabletop made of natural/artificial stone is laid on it and on the side wall of the grill.

The cutting table can be located on any user-friendly side relative to the hearth.

Dutch oven

In addition to meat on skewers or a barbecue, there is often a need to prepare other dishes in pots, pans, or by heating or boiling a kettle. Therefore, instead of a cutting table, space is allocated for a brazier stove.

To do this you need to perform the following operations:

  • lengthen the structure starting from the bottom row;
  • make a front wall with a door for the combustion chamber;
  • equip the hob with concentric cast iron rings to adjust the power of the stove.

On top photo A diagram of a barbecue with a hob of the simplest type is shown.

Washing

To equip a barbecue with a sink, it is enough to mount a stove with a slot for a sink instead of a regular countertop, install a water supply or increase the height of the rear stack and hang a washbasin on it, as in the bottom photo.

Distributing cold water supply (cold water supply) throughout the area is much more difficult than collecting water into a washbasin. Even with seasonal operation, you will need to drain the liquid for the winter and preserve the system.

Thus, the construction material brick is suitable for making barbecues in a hurry in field conditions and on suburban area. When laid on a solution, you can increase the functionality of the simplest barbecues due to the sink, countertop, hob or anything else that you find necessary and convenient when working. Here it is important to give free rein to your imagination and not to be afraid, you will definitely succeed!

For many Vacation home associated with cooking kebabs or barbecues. AND necessary element This process is considered a barbecue. And preparing meat dishes will be doubly enjoyable if you make a roasting pan for them yourself.

Grill on summer cottage– this is the key to a successful holiday with barbecue. For this reason, most summer residents want such a device for cooking on their territory. Some people prefer the store-bought version, but making one yourself always makes the owner of a country estate proud.

The smokehouse for cooking barbecue performs several functions simultaneously:

  • used to decorate the landscape;
  • is considered an important assistant when you need to feed many people at the same time, because homemade invention has a larger surface than the purchased version.

Besides the fact that the grill self made performs important functions and is characterized by: strength, less sensitivity to weather conditions and individual appearance.

In order to build such a device, a pair of skilled hands and materials are enough. Even someone who has no experience in this matter can cope with this task. On the Internet you can find many training videos that describe in detail each stage of production. In addition, there are many ready-made drawings from which you can build a high-quality barbecue yourself.

Blueprints

If you do not study the drawings for building a brick barbecue, the process of building it will be more problematic and complex. The finished diagrams describe in detail all the parameters of the future product:

  • height;
  • width;
  • the total area it will occupy.

For beginners, building a barbecue using drawings is much easier, since they show all the elements it contains.

There are cases when people want to build a summer complex, the basis of which will include a barbecue. They consist of a countertop, a place to store firewood, a firebox and other elements that can be useful in preparing food.

If the master already has experience in this matter, then he can independently develop a drawing based on existing ones. In this case, the scheme will be unique. It will become a decoration for a summer cottage or a country complex.

But there are general instructions that must be followed in order to obtain a quality product as a result. Step-by-step instructions are useful because they help you build the work process correctly. In this matter, it is very important to do everything one by one and on time.

Step-by-step instruction

On the first preparatory stage most important point is the choice of the place where the roasting pan will be placed for preparing barbecue. It is necessary that the place is chosen correctly and does not disturb others. To do this, it is recommended to listen to the following tips:

  • It is worth remembering that the structure is an object with an increased fire hazard. For this reason, it is better to place the grill away from home, outbuildings and other objects that can easily catch fire.
  • The brazier should not be located far from the resting place, as this may cause some inconvenience. Ideally, it would be to place a barbecue near the gazebo where the holidays are held, or near the summer kitchen. To create more comfortable conditions can be built wide canopy, which will simultaneously cover the brick from the rain, and at the same time the benches and table will also be protected.
  • It is recommended to set up an area that was intended exclusively for the barbecue and all auxiliary equipment. It is not recommended to have flower beds or beds near this area. High temperatures can cause all the plants to disappear. You should consider how to conveniently approach this area, namely, make paths to it.
  • Should not be placed near a broiler garbage bins and the toilet area, since this will not look aesthetically pleasing.

The next stage is to select the material from which the barbecue grill will actually be constructed. In our case it is a brick. It is best that it is heat-resistant and does not collapse. This material is fireclay brick. It is also known as “stove”.

In order for the structure to be strong, the masonry mortar must be made of clay and sand.

Advice

To ensure that the structure can be used for several decades, it is worth choosing high-quality bricks. This material is its basis. When quality material You can cook barbecue on the brazier for many years.

In order for the outdoor grill to be strong, it is worth paying attention to its base. That is, you need to prepare Construction Materials for its construction.

The following materials will be required for the foundation :

  • Crushed stone.
  • Stones.
  • Cement.
  • Plywood or boards (for formwork).
  • Sand.
  • Fittings.

Also, you need to purchase tools that will be needed during construction.

These include the following copies:

  • Bucket.
  • Shovel.
  • A trough for mixing cement (you can use a concrete mixer).
  • Master OK.
  • Circular saw.
  • Level.

It is recommended to develop a project for the construction of a barbecue. You can take a project that has already been developed by someone. In this case, the work will be easier. And also, it will help to calculate required quantity materials. A small supply is acceptable, but large surpluses are neither profitable nor useful.

On next stage the foundation is being poured. This stage is considered basic, since further construction depends on the foundation. The foundation is only needed for stationary type barbecue For a portable product, this process is not necessary. After the foundation has hardened and is ready for further work, brick laying is carried out.

Advice

Before starting to lay brick, it is recommended to water it with water. After 24 hours have passed, you can begin the process. You can also dip it in water for a few seconds just before laying it. This is done for the purpose of better adhesion to the clay.

The procedure for laying bricks should be carried out according to a ready-made scheme. When you want to develop a diagram yourself, it is better to do it on a piece of paper in a box.

It is better to start laying bricks from the corner and move towards the central part. It is important to periodically check the grill with a level and plumb line. This will allow you to detect inaccuracies and correct them in the future.

After this, you need to start laying the central part of the product, namely the firebox.

It can be pre-cast from concrete, or it can be made from brick.

If the grill will also serve as a barbecue, then at this stage you need to decide where the grate will be installed. It is installed on reinforcement bars that are located in the walls of the product. In order to be able to change the levels of the grid, several protrusions can be made.

After this, wind walls and a smoke collector are constructed, which are attached to the columns and gradually decrease in diameter. Some schemes do not provide for the construction of a smoke isolation pipe.

As a result of this sequence of steps, you will get the simplest barbecue. To protect it from precipitation, you can install a metal canopy over it.

The final stage of building a barbecue is finishing and a canopy.

The canopy over the product is erected in order to prolong its operation. It can be done in two ways:

  • A canopy that exclusively covers the grill itself.
  • A canopy that covers the entire area intended for recreation.

In any case, sediment will not get into the fryer. From a design point of view, a good option is a canopy over the barbecue.

In order to build a canopy over the entire building, you need to install special concrete foundations around the perimeter. They can be made not only of concrete, but of metal or wood.

Advice

If selected wooden supports they need to be covered special means, which will make them heat-resistant. Or install them at a distance of 16 cm from the product.

As for the roof, it can be built from any material. A covering made of the same material as the roof of the house will fit into the overall composition.

Outdoor oven

An outdoor stove complements any summer cottage or country house well. It can perform the following functions:

  • Cooking.
  • Drying mushrooms or fruits.
  • Can be used for canning fresh air.

The design of the structure for this structure can be made to fit the interior country house. It can be done with one or several lesions. Can be done with or without doors. This is affected only by the project that was chosen for the construction of this device.

When building outdoor stove you need to be guided by the fact that it must meet the following requirements:

  • Practicality.
  • Safety.
  • Functionality.
  • Durability.
  • Low cost of construction (if your own work is expensive, then it will be more profitable to buy a ready-made option).

In the markets for materials for the construction of an outdoor stove a large number of, but you need to be guided by the fact that it must be of high quality.

For this you can use the following raw materials:

  • Fire-resistant brick and aerated concrete. These materials can withstand high temperatures.
  • Metal or cast iron. Most often, these raw materials are used to produce ready-made designs. Its price will not be small.

Brick and aerated concrete are fire-resistant materials

The choice of material must be approached carefully. Aerated concrete is cheaper, but a brick oven looks much more aesthetically pleasing.

An important issue is the choice of the main location of the outdoor stove. It’s good when the construction of a street product was envisaged at the beginning construction work around the house. If, however, the decision to build this structure was made later, then you need to be guided by the same rules as the construction of a barbecue.

This rest attribute is done in the following sequence:

  • Laying the foundation.
  • Laying the base of the furnace.
  • Chimney installation.
  • Installation of the walls of the gazebo in which the stove will stand, as well as equipment of the adjacent territory.

Outdoor stove cladding

As for the decor of an outdoor stove, there are a large number of options. The product can be finished using a special decorative plaster. It can also be lined. As decoration, you can use tiles of various designs and designs.

There are the following types of simple stove finishing:

  • Whitewashing and painting.
  • Plaster.

Sequencing

  • To reduce the roughness of the surface, you need to rub it with brick and then treat it with water.
  • We treat the surface with a primer.
  • We paint the building. It is better to choose it on an adhesive basis.
  • In the case of whitewashing, we skip the previous stage and use lime instead of paint. You can add salt to it. This will help achieve best result. To add a blue tint, a small amount of blue is added to the lime.
  • To ensure that the whitewash is of high quality and lasts a long time, ultramarine or ocher can be added to the lime on the surface.

The advantages of such cladding:

  • The tiled surface can be easily washed and wiped.
  • The tile coating has great heat transfer.

Since real and correct tiles are made by hand, they may differ from each other, for example, in shape or size. Therefore, before the furnace cladding process, you need to sort the material by shape and color.

The tiles are laid using a thick mortar. They are attached to wire pins. The seams between the facing material should be no more than 2 mm. They are rubbed with a special agent, for example, albatross.

Finishing an outdoor stove with tiles

It is better not to choose large-format tiles for cladding. Such material has a high risk of cracking. It is better to choose small tiles.

Cladding outdoor tiles with natural stone

The process of decorating a street structure with stone has no noticeable differences compared to tiling. The advantage is that the stones look more sophisticated.

The peculiarity of this cladding is that the stones need to be placed on the floor and laid out according to size, shape and color scheme.

Advice

In order not to confuse the sequence of stones, you can number them on the reverse side. This action ensures that the stones do not get mixed up with each other and the process itself takes much less time.

Also, you can not cover the entire surface of the product with stone, but only separate part, for example, corners or firebox.

Kazan-grill

For many, the design of a cauldron-barbecue is an incomprehensible and useless thing, since you can use a portable barbecue and a purchased cauldron. But still, experienced gourmet summer residents insist that this is a necessary thing on a country plot. The kebab-cooking complex is a godsend for big companies who love to have picnics outdoors.

Such a structure will make it possible to simultaneously cook meat dishes, fish or vegetables on the grill, and pilaf, potatoes and other side dishes are suitable for a cauldron.

Most often, cauldrons are made of metal, the difference is the manufacturing technology.

Many people have no idea how to combine seemingly incompatible things. After all, a barbecue and a cauldron seem to be two different devices.

Such a structure can be arranged as follows. If the grill has already been built, then an additional brick section needs to be built for the cauldron. The same actions can be performed if the structure is made of metal.

If, however, the cauldron and barbecue are built simultaneously, then initially you need to choose a project that involves the construction of two sections.

In order for the cauldron to heat up evenly from all sides, the design must include a firebox. A cauldron is placed in it and thus food is prepared.

It is important to consider that the product is comfortable and practical. The height of the structure must be adjusted to the height of the home owners. If it is too high, then there is a high probability of getting burned, but if, on the contrary, it is too low, then you will have to constantly bend over.

It is possible to construct the product when the cauldron is hung from above. This option is considered easier to manufacture, since it is not difficult to build. Also, such a design can be made with a ready-made structure. It is enough to add some details on which the cauldron will be hung.

The design of the barbecue-smokehouse itself is a very convenient and practical product, since you can cook barbecue and smoke meat products in one go. To start doing it yourself, you need to pay attention to important nuances:

  • The dimensions of the structure should be selected taking into account the number of people who will need to be fed. Products that are too small will not be convenient, since you will have to divide the cooking process into several approaches. Structures that are too large are not beneficial due to the fact that not the entire surface will be used.
  • How the product will be constructed: stationary or collapsible.
  • Main material for manufacturing: metal or brick.

Features of building a smokehouse

  • Build it as a sliding one from two halves.
  • Make it from one half. In this case, it will be folding.
  • Removable.
  • Retracting.

The base of the smokehouse can be placed on metal legs, or brick supports can be made. The length of the legs can be selected individually. An additional table can be built into the design of the grill-smokehouse. With this option, it will be comfortable to cook food on the device.

When building this device, you need to be prepared for the fact that it will take a lot of time and effort. But the result will be useful for many years. A well-made design is a guarantee that the prepared dishes will always be tasty.

The entire process consists of the same steps as previous products. The difference is that the laying of bricks is done according to different drawings.

Concerning facing works, then you also need to pay a lot of attention to this. You can use decorative brick. Now there are a large number of its types, so the external appearance of the device can be made as the situation requires. Also, to make the entire location of the product look aesthetically pleasing, you can cover it with paving slabs.

In this case, it will serve as a landscape design element and will be useful for fire safety.

To prevent the entire structure from getting wet in rain or snow, you can build a special canopy. This will make it possible to cook dishes in any weather conditions. Also, in order to create a more practical and comfortable cooking area, you can provide different shelves, countertops and sinks. These elements can be built separately from the overall structure of the barbecue-smokehouse.

With such decoration and arrangement, you can create a comfortable and cozy place for preparing food for family and guests.

The design is built in the same sequence as the previous attributes for frying meat. Its peculiarity is that it uses a special mesh on which dishes are prepared.

The difference between this structure is that it combines two facilities for preparing food: a grill and a barbecue. The grill is a rectangular bowl with holes in the bottom. Barbecue is considered one of the most convenient and functional devices for preparing meat products and vegetables.

Such devices for cooking can be constructed as mobile, that is, portable, as well as stationary. Each of them has its own advantages. Portable barbecues are convenient because they can be placed in any convenient place. Positive quality stationary brick structures it is believed that they are more durable and can be used for many years. Most often, they provide for the presence of dampers, with which you can regulate the ingress of air. The type of product must be chosen at the beginning when preparing general project and drawings.

This structure can be used in any weather conditions, since the design provides protection from the wind.

A properly equipped area with a barbecue grill can decorate the entire interior of a country house.

Thus, independent construction designs for a country house will give you the opportunity to spend time with family and friends in a cozy environment. At the same time, structures made by the hands of the owners of the house will evoke a special feeling of pride. Also, as an option, products can be built not only for your own site, but also as a gift to your loved ones.

To do delicious dishes in the country, a good option would be to use a brick barbecue. Making a structure with your own hands is quite simple.

Our article will introduce you to the principles of operation of a mini oven, you will find out what it can consist of.

Barbecue is the most popular method of cooking outdoors. Similar design similar to a barbecue, has a standard device.

The difference between a grill and a barbecue

Barbecue specialists who have converted a lot of stoves to outdoors They know with their own hands that the barbecue cooks food from below using smoldering coals.

The food is not fried on top. Therefore, you have to constantly turn the skewer.

With barbecue things are different. The meat is placed on the grill; the grill itself becomes slightly lower than the side walls. This is the whole essence of the work of this design. In a barbecue oven, the tray looks like a solid sheet, without grates.

While the coal is smoldering, the food is gradually fried due to reflection from the walls of the oven itself.

The walls of the barbecue are high, due to this a smoke cap is formed above the products, they are slightly smoked in it, this gives them a special aroma. If you put a piece of tough pork in such an oven, during the process of roasting in the oven it will become soft and juicy.

You might think that the height above the walls of 25 cm does not matter, but this is not the case. The culinary process is a delicate matter; food is susceptible to the slightest change in temperature.

If you pay attention, you will notice that most picnics in nature or at the dacha are not complete without a barbecue oven; the grill is not so popular. Designs brick oven There are quite a lot of options for barbecue, you can easily choose a convenient option for yourself.

How to build a barbecue yourself?

At first glance, it seems that cooking in a barbecue oven is not simple, which means that the design is complex. However, this is not true; building a stove with your own hands is quite simple.

It is those who love countryside gatherings who build stoves with their own hands. Every owner always has the materials for its construction at hand. Every man held bricks in his hands, which means that building a stove would not be difficult for him.

First they put up brick walls, then measure out the place where the firewood tray will stand, the last stage is the installation of a grate for products.

When building a barbecue oven, it is important to think about it appearance. A beautifully crafted structure will be the best decoration for a summer cottage.

Design Features

If we speak in in simple language, the barbecue oven is the most primitive brickwork. They make it in the shape of the letter “P”. Such a simple structure will become excellent option outdoor cooking.

Skilled builders install mounts for skewers on the stoves; this greatly simplifies the work when frying meat; you don’t need to hold anything with your hands, just turn it over.

BBQ Oven Materials

The barbecue oven is assembled from standard red brick, which is always available on the site. It is impossible to coat layers of brick with ordinary clay; here you need high-quality cement mortar.

At the completion of the construction of such a furnace, a pipe is always removed; it serves as an exhaust hood, a canopy from bad weather and strong winds.

If there is an exhaust hood, such a stove can easily be placed in a gazebo or on an open terrace; it will not emit acrid smoke directly in your face.

Grills, barbecues – in Lately are very popular with absolutely everyone. Who doesn't love eating delicious food outdoors?

Without exception, everyone loves the taste of juicy, roasted meat. It is for such pleasure that it is worth using all your strength and experience to build such a stove. You will be proud of your invention, and also delight your loved ones with new kebab recipes.

Photo of brick barbecue

It is hard to imagine modern dacha without a barbecue - an original brick structure. By building it, you will eliminate the need to carry a steel box with holes in your car. You don't have to kneel in front of it, fanning the fire and swallowing acrid smoke. A brick grill will make the process of preparing barbecue easy and enjoyable, and will also contribute to the decoration of your summer cottage.

About possible design options We will describe such a structure and the main stages of its construction in more detail.

Options for outdoor grills

How does a brick grill differ from a portable metal one? The fundamental design of these foci is the same. It is a fireproof platform for coals, equipped with sides and raised on support legs.

They also have differences:

  • The frying platform of a brick structure is higher than that of a portable structure, so it is more convenient to cook on it;
  • At a stationary fireplace, you can arrange for smoke to be vented into a chimney, so you can comfortably sit next to it, regardless of the direction of the wind;
  • The brick version is superior in decorative qualities to the portable one. He becomes key element landscape design and an important part of the recreation area.

The simplest barbecue can be made from brick without using mortar. Concrete a flat area under it. After this, lay the bricks dry, carefully forming even legs and walls.

The gaps that remain between the bricks will act as ventilation for the firebox, and the sides will protect the fire from strong winds. Having laid out the “legs”, they are covered with a homemade slab cast from refractory concrete. The work is completed by laying the walls, after which the stationary grill will be ready to receive barbecue.

We note in passing that fundamental differences barbecue grills are more far-fetched than real. The only difference between them is what the meat is fried on. In a barbecue, a grate is used for this, and in a barbecue, steel skewers are used.

By replacing the grill with skewers, you can easily turn the grill into a barbecue. The supporting platforms on the brick sides will be a reliable support for them.

The obvious disadvantage of this design is the lack of a roof and a smoke collector. Therefore, the most widespread closed buildings made of brick, equipped with a light canopy and a chimney.

In addition to improving the functional qualities of such a fireplace, the owner has a vast field for decoration and stylization.

If you decide to build an outdoor barbecue out of brick, but don’t feel very confident as a decorator, then cover it with a simple arched vault and crown it with a short pipe. The design will only benefit from such an addition. A sudden rain will not extinguish the brazier in such a fireplace, and the wind will not direct smoke into the faces of the guests gathered in the gazebo.

A small canopy over the façade would also be useful. It will protect you from the rain and allow you not to interrupt the frying process.

The side cavities in a brick grill can be used to store dishes and other kitchen utensils.

By adding to the design of the hearth with chimney metal door, we get a barbecue oven. After heating, it will have enough heat not only for barbecue, but also for preparing first courses.

Under open air it should not be held. Damp brick does not retain heat well and is quickly destroyed by temperature changes. Therefore, when deciding on such a project, do not forget to draw a diagram of a canopy that will protect the fireplace from precipitation.

Note that great alternative garden gazebo. If you have not built it yet, then combine these two structures in one complex.

The considered examples convince us that building a barbecue out of brick with your own hands is not too difficult task. The most important part of this structure is the vault with brick pipe can be replaced with a smoke collector made of galvanized steel. It can be ordered from a qualified tinsmith, having first removed dimensions from the drawing.

Before starting laying, you should determine a place for a stationary barbecue. Here you need to take into account the direction of the prevailing winds, the slope of the terrain and the features of the landscape.

Do not build the fireplace near trees, bushes or other flammable objects. Proximity to the recreation area is another condition that must be taken into account when searching for a place for a barbecue area. Ideally, if the continuation of the barbecue is yours summer gazebo. In this case, you won’t have to carry ready-made meals far.

When designing a grill, choose its height correctly. From an ergonomic point of view, the optimal height of the frying platform is equal to the distance from the surface of the ground to the wrist.

The length of the firebox should not exceed 100 cm. This will be enough to provide kebabs for a company of 8-10 people in one fire. The width of the firebox should be equal to length skewers (47-62cm).

Translating our recommendations into “brick format”, let’s say that the external dimensions of the masonry are 4 by 2 bricks. Accordingly, all other dimensions of the fireplace are selected: the width of the foundation and the smoke umbrella. The approximate consumption of bricks for such a design is 250-300 pieces.

Step-by-step instructions for building a barbecue

We begin work with the construction of the foundation. It should not be made too deep. The main thing is that it is strong enough and can withstand the weight of a brick grill without subsidence.

Having marked the contours of the foundation, we remove the soil from the ground to a depth of 15-20 cm, after which we fill our “pit” concrete mixture. A pair of reinforcing bars with a diameter of 10-12 mm and steel masonry mesh, recessed in concrete, will strengthen the base. The top of the slab needs to be waterproofed. A leveling mortar screed is poured over it, and the ceramic tile or one layer of brick.

At the pouring stage, it can be laid to the foundation electrical cable. Concrete it into the base and bring out the contacts for connecting the lighting. This simple work will make the outdoor fireplace more comfortable to use.

A simple laying of a brick barbecue begins with the construction of three supporting walls - two side and one back. If you prefer a pass-through design, you don't have to build the back wall.

We carry out the laying on cement-sand mortar(1 part cement to 3 parts sand).

If you want to make two compartments (for frying and storing dishes), then you can make two cavities in the supporting part by placing another intermediate wall of half a brick.

Having laid out the walls, they need to be covered with a concrete slab. For this it is better to use a piece OSB boards suitable size. It is placed from below so that after the concrete has set, the formwork can be removed. On top you need to install a square frame made of edged boards. Its height should be equal to the thickness of the slab being poured.

Having laid dense polyethylene on the OSB, it is filled with a solution (layer thickness 1-2 cm). Then 4 reinforcing bars with a diameter of 12-14 mm are laid on it and the formwork is filled with fine-grained concrete (crushed stone fraction 0.5-1 cm).

After the concrete slab has hardened, we carry out the laying in the same way as the procedures discussed. To remove burnt coals, install a galvanized or of stainless steel. Its width must be made such that skewers or a barbecue grill can be placed on the sides.

The completion of the building will be a galvanized steel exhaust hood. It will save you from having to waste effort on laying a vaulted brick pipe.

Attach the umbrella to brick walls You can use metal screws. Just before doing this, do not forget to place several short corners in the masonry seams to which the hood will be attached.

At the dacha, where picnics and meetings with friends are held, you can’t do without a barbecue. A barbecue device made from bricks eliminates the need to bring with you a box with holes welded from steel sheets. A brick barbecue does not require the use of a special method of lighting a fire, that is, the owner of the dacha does not have to kneel and blow on the wood that is somehow igniting, inhaling smoke. Thanks to a roasting pan made of artificial stones, cooking meat will always be an easy and enjoyable experience. Is it possible to build a barbecue with your own hands?

Brick roaster design

The device for frying kebabs, which was created using bricks, looks like a permanent structure. It has a brazier equipped with rods necessary to secure the skewers, and an area where spare firewood can be stored. True, a brick grill is a structure with a lot of weight, because it is built on concrete base. The design of the device for frying meat pieces in the open air must be supplemented with a pipe for removing puffs of smoke, a canopy or small roof, and also countertops.

Pros and cons of a brick grill

The owners of the dachas, who built a brick structure on a country plot where barbecue is prepared, discovered the following advantages:

  • long service life and immunity to various factors, causing damage to the grill, because a properly made grill does not rust or lose its appearance, as happens with a metal box for frying meat;
  • the barbecue retains the heat generated by burning wood inside the brazier, since brick walls do not release heated air, thereby promoting heat distribution throughout the entire area where the kebab is fried and does not burn;
  • economical consumption of firewood and coal, since the brick holds warm air, not allowing the temperature obtained in the fryer to drop below;
  • insignificant expenses for construction, because artificial stones of the correct shape are an inexpensive material, and working with it is quite simple, which cannot be said about metal;
  • the finished device becomes a good addition to the rest of the buildings on the dacha plot and decorates the yard.

The structure, intended for cooking meat and made of bricks, is also characterized by some disadvantages:

  • a brick grill may seem huge, and besides, unlike a metal device, it cannot be moved anywhere;
  • a brick roaster is large in size, so it is necessary to adapt a large area for it;
  • the device is constructed not from ordinary, but from special fireclay and ceramic bricks.

The grill, which will always stand in the same place, should be erected away from the dacha and other wooden buildings, after all, a device for frying kebabs is an object with an open flame. It is wiser to take the brick brazier separate plot in a special recreation area, for example, in a gazebo. There it is not in danger of being damaged by rain or snow, and besides, guests can sit quietly next to the brick grill while sitting at the table.

Preparation for construction: drawings and diagrams with dimensions

You should not start building a brazier out of bricks without thinking about where it will be located. Before construction, you need to decide in what style to make a device for frying kebabs. The appearance of the future brick structure is great importance, since it must fit into the surrounding space. An object intended for cooking meat in the fresh air will be combined with nearby buildings if you draw up a project and reflect all dimensions in it. The drawings will help you avoid mistakes in calculating materials and the construction itself.

When searching sweet spot To locate a brick barbecue, you should determine which direction the wind usually blows. The fact is that a device that is used frequently will smoke the surrounding space and, therefore, “spoil” the air in rooms located not so far from the brazier in which the kebabs are fried.

When thinking about how high to make the grill, you need to take into account the height of the person who will be responsible for frying the meat pieces. In any case, a device intended for preparing barbecue in the fresh air should be higher than the level of the wrists of the owner of the dacha. But you shouldn’t make the brazier too high either, that is, if it is assumed that a person with enviable height will be looking after the meat, then the brazier can only rise to the elbows.

You can build a brick barbecue roaster according to standard parameters. So the height of the structure should be 130 cm. In this case, the area where the grating is located can rise 100 cm above the ground surface. The acceptable length for such a barbecue is 100 cm, width - 48 cm, and depth - 22 +/- 7 cm. If these parameters are not met, then it will not be possible to properly place skewers on the brazier.

Necessary materials: requirements and calculations

Before building a brick device intended for cooking kebabs, you need to visit the store and buy the following:

  • liquid concrete M150 (if it is suddenly not on sale, then you can purchase raw materials M200);
  • sand;
  • gravel, which can be replaced with crushed stone;
  • reinforcement or its alternative - chain-link mesh;
  • wire;
  • bricks used in the construction of furnaces and blocks for the construction of walls;
  • a tray made of metal and grates;
  • stainless steel sheet;
  • metal tiles;
  • boards and bars cut from wood;
  • corners and plates, the material of which is durable metal.

You can’t build a barbecue out of just any brick. The structure in which the kebab will be grilled must consist almost entirely of special artificial stone, which means that the choice of this material must be taken seriously. The fact is that an ordinary brick under the influence of fire can crack and begin to crumble, because the temperature in the brazier can reach 1000 0 C and higher. From the cold, if they start frying kebabs in the device in the winter, a standard brick can also crumble, unable to withstand sudden changes in temperature.

The only bricks that are good materials for building a barbecue are called ceramic and fireclay. The first type of building material is usually used during the laying of external elements of the device, including pipes and channels for the release of puffs of smoke. And the second type of bricks is the material that should be used to lay the walls of the chamber or wood combustion area.

When choosing a party ceramic bricks, you need to pay attention to the following production characteristics:

  • density, which is indicated by letters and numbers and is within a certain range (from 2 to 100), which indicates how durable the material is;
  • frost resistance, which is marked as “F” and can be represented by a number from 25 to 300;
  • thermal conductivity, depending on the density of the material;
  • quality of construction raw materials.

If you plan to build a barbecue, then it is better to purchase durable bricks with frost resistance from F75 to F100 and thermal conductivity of 0.59 to 0.72 W/(m×°C). The purchased material must be solid.

Fireclay bricks should also not be purchased thoughtlessly. When purchasing it, you should ask the seller about the following:

  • what brand the product has (it can be designated as ShAK, PB, ShA, ShB, PV, ShV and ShUS);
  • what is the softening temperature of the material (it must be at least 1300 °C);
  • are the bricks homogeneous in volume, which needs to be checked with your own eyes;
  • do the blocks have high density and low porosity.

It doesn’t hurt to check the quality of a batch of bricks not only in the store, but also upon arrival home. To do this, you need to take a hammer and hit it on the material. If the brick inside is not damaged, the tool will bounce off. Then you need to inspect each block from all sides. High quality brick must have the correct shape. Then it is recommended to break off a small piece from one block to make sure that the material is evenly colored.

The construction of a device for cooking meat in the open air will take about 360 bricks. Exact amount blocks are determined based on their dimensions and the size of the barbecue. In addition to bricks, you will need a clay-sand mixture, which is needed to connect the bricks. Special glue must be soaked in water for at least 2 days.

The foundation on which the brick grill will stand should be constructed from concrete mixture M150 or M200. These grades are suitable for pouring a foundation intended for the construction of a light structure such as a chicken coop.

Separately, you will have to purchase materials from which you will need to make a roof over the brazier. It is supposed to be constructed from such building materials as:

  • 4 bars of 2.5 m each, having a cross-section of 150x200 mm, which will become racks;
  • 4 bars with the same parameters necessary for the manufacture of the upper trim;
  • 6 rafters of 3 m each with a section of 100x50 mm;
  • boards with a cross section of 20x100 mm, which are useful for constructing sheathing.

Required Tools

To engage in brick construction, you need to arm yourself with certain tools and units:

  • a film that protects concrete from moisture from groundwater;
  • fasteners, that is, angles, screws, bolts and nails;
  • screwdriver;
  • chisel;
  • wood sanding machine and grinder;
  • hammer;
  • three types of shovels: screw, scoop and bayonet;
  • containers for preparing the mortar used to glue bricks together;
  • masonry trowel;
  • large construction square;
  • roulette, building level and pencil;
  • scissors that cut metal;
  • a roll of roofing felt.

How to build a brick grill with your own hands - step-by-step instructions with photos

The roasting pan must be made by following the following steps exactly:

  1. On a site that is suitable for placing a brick barbecue, you should prepare a hole that goes 30 cm deep. The dug pit should be at least 10 cm longer and wider than the device for cooking meat.
  2. A layer of sand more than 30 cm thick must be poured down the pit, and then trampled down, giving it density and evenness. The made “pillow” must be covered with gravel, thereby reducing the depth of the pit by another 10 cm. After this, the bottom must be compacted and leveled again.
  3. Now you can put auxiliary in the pit wooden structure and fittings, that is, a lattice made of strong metal rods with cells measuring 15x15 cm.
  4. It's time to pour the formwork liquid concrete. It is important that the mixture, which will soon harden, is distributed evenly over the entire surface. After this, you should take a two-week break in the construction of the barbecue, because that’s how long it takes for the concrete to harden. To prevent the drying foundation from cracking in the sun, it is recommended to moisten it from time to time, covering it with a thick plastic film.
  5. After 2 weeks, you can cover the concrete with a material that protects against negative impact moisture, for example, a sheet of roofing felt.
  6. After constructing the foundation, you should proceed to the main stage - the construction of a brick barbecue.

    When connecting bricks with mortar, you must use a building level and a hammer

  7. The first row of ceramic blocks should be laid on the surface without allowing errors, having previously made markings.

    The masonry must stand on a waterproofing material

  8. Having erected the brickwork, you need to start constructing a columnar base for the supports on which the roof will rest. The main thing is that these pillars are located at a distance of 2 m from the fire. To install them, you need to dig 4 holes in the ground with a depth of 0.6 m and a diameter of about 30 cm. The bottom of each must be filled with crushed stone, be sure to trample it down to form a layer of 10 cm. The top of the crushed stone layer should be sprinkled with sand and compacted so that the thickness the new layer also corresponded to 10 cm.
  9. Then you need to roll the roofing material into a pipe and install it in a hole as formwork, rising 30 cm above the ground level. Inside waterproofing material metal rods should be placed to act as the backbone of the future support. Immediately after this, the formwork must be filled with concrete mixture. In this case, the concrete surface should be 10 cm above the ground level. When the base hardens, a masonry of 4 bricks will need to be laid on it.
  10. Now you can install the roaster using a metal tray. They will become the basis for the firebox area. Then you can lay bricks in this place, leaving gaps here and there that are not filled with the adhesive mixture. They are needed to allow air to enter the chamber, which will support the combustion of wood.
  11. After this, the chimney should be laid. In this case, each passage should be narrowed by a third, the main thing is to do this evenly.
  12. Having finished building the barbecue, you can install supports for the canopy, which protects the device from precipitation. To do this, you need to lay roofing felt on the concrete surface, and then put the beams of their wood. They are attached to the bricks using bolts and metal plates. Each beam must have a cut that allows you to fix the top trim.
  13. Between the delivered wooden posts the cuts should be fixed, the task of which is to make the device for frying kebabs durable.
  14. Then you can install the top frame from the beams and make rafters for the roof. It is better to make them from beams with a cross-section of 100x50 mm.
  15. Now you need to attach the rafters made with a slope of 30° to top harness, thereby obtaining a structure with 4 supports and 3 V-shaped rafter parts.
  16. Then in a direction perpendicular to the beams you need to lay out wooden sheathing, securing it with self-tapping screws. The finished base should be covered with metal tiles using self-tapping screws.
