This article will discuss the design of a homemade machine made from a household jigsaw. Below will be given step-by-step instruction, photos, videos, as well as drawings and diagrams.

Introduction

There are a lot of design options - from the simplest, where it just sticks out from the tabletop, to quite complex structures with guides, the ability to cut at an angle, when it is possible to set not only 90 degrees to the base, but also change the angle (well, within reason, of course). There are devices (machines) for, that is, making straight and even cuts.

Such devices are increasingly used due to their versatility and functionality. In fact, their parameters and purpose are similar to stationary machines and have a strictly defined practical use in every workshop.

Preparatory stage

  • draw up sketches and make a drawing of the future product,
  • make paper patterns for future elements and details
  • stick templates onto blanks for future parts.

There are two ways to make templates - take tracing paper and draw the kennels of the future workpiece on it. This has been done since ancient times, since nothing is needed for this except a ruler and a pencil. However, if you have a computer and a printer, of course A3 would be nice, but A4 is also suitable (you just have to print several sheets and then glue them together), then the process of drawing with a pencil and ruler can be replaced by drawing the contours of the blanks on the computer.

Then we cut it out with a stationery blade or just a sharp knife.

After that Once the template is ready, it needs to be glued to the workpiece.

Tip: There is no need to glue it tightly, since in the future you will have to remove the template, and this will be difficult if you glue it tightly. Accordingly, you can glue it, for example, with stationery glue, use a glue stick or, as in our example, spray glue.

Creating blanks

At this stage you need to do:

  1. Cut the blanks exactly according to the template,
  2. Process the workpieces - align the ends, remove burrs
  3. Drill the necessary holes;
  4. Make grooves with a file;
  5. Drill out the seats for the bearings;
  6. Select grooves with a router for the cover and a seat;

We install the bracket. It should be noted that the bracket must be fastened without over-tightening the nut - there must be free movement. To do this, use a self-locking nut and only tighten it slightly.

Installing the spring should not be difficult. You need to do it as shown in the photo below.

For future fastening of the file, you need to make simple clamp in the form of a plate with two holes. It must also be installed on the bracket using a self-locking nut. Moreover, the backlash of the plate in seat The reason is that the bracket moves, and the clamped plate will hinder its movement.

Below is a sketch of the design of the upper attachment point for the file.

Then it is necessary to make technological holes for the jigsaw controls so that it is convenient to change the engine speed, you can gain access to the start button and its lock. There is another solution that makes it more convenient to turn on the tool - this is to place in an easily accessible place on the machine body an socket and a switch that would turn the voltage on and off in the socket. We plug the jigsaw cord into a socket, and it turns out that we will turn it on and off using a switch installed in a place convenient for us. However, this is a matter of taste.

So below is the production technological holes on the body.

This is what the controls look like when they are now available.

Now you need to make clamps for the file itself. The principle is simple - take a bolt and make a cut at the base of the head, but not all the way. In the future, the file itself will be inserted into this cut. The principle is shown in the photo below.

This is how the upper saw attachment unit is installed and assembled.

The lower unit is almost similar to the upper one, except that it is not a plate that is used, but a standard file (you can use “BU”), and almost all of it is sawed off with a grinder (angle grinder). cutting part and the shank is left. A hole is made in the remaining cutting part with a similar bolt with a slot at the base of the head, into which the file will also fit. The principle is shown below.

After the file is secured, we install the jigsaw itself. We fasten it with bolts with countersunk heads so that they do not stick out on the table top of the machine.

Now we need to adjust the perpendicularity of the file relative to the table of our machine. To do this, you can use a square, or, as in our case, just a block that is precisely trimmed. We make the adjustment as follows. To adjust the file left/right, the top plate is adjusted - its displacement on the axis - respectively, in the desired direction.

And to adjust the saw blade position forward/backwards, the saw blade mounting unit itself is shifted forward or backward.

The machine is almost ready, all that remains is to make and install the plate that surrounds the jigsaw file. It can be made from PCB or any piece of sheet plastic.

This completes the manufacturing of the jigsaw machine.
We hope that the material presented was useful to you.

A compact and relatively mobile sawing tool, it has earned a reputation as a practical device used all over the world. A universal jigsaw, capable of making straight and curved cuts, including at an angle. Possessing impressive capabilities, this device could become a leader in multi-purpose applications. Unfortunately, certain design features made it more of a narrowly focused tool, but with good potential.

One of the disadvantages of working with a jigsaw is that it is quite inconvenient to carry out an accurate, straight cut. The main reason for this drawback is the thin saw blade, which easily changes its direction during sawing. The second reason lies in the structure itself, which becomes loose over time and noticeably reduces the evenness of the cut. Fortunately, these flaws can be ignored if you have special jigsaw tools that you can make yourself. Next, we will tell you how to make a special table and stop for maximum precision sawing with your tool.

Jigsaw table

To make working with a jigsaw more comfortable and the cutting line to be smoother, numerous craftsmen combine it with a small stand, turning this symbiosis into a convenient mini-workbench. The jigsaw is installed in the table with bottom side, so that the file is directed upward, passing through a specially prepared hole. The start button of the tool is fixed, and the operator calmly cuts the workpiece, controlling it with both hands. This device allows you to cut more accurately and is ideal for comfortable work with large volumes of material.

Making a basic table for a jigsaw with your own hands is quite simple, both for an experienced craftsman and a beginner. Any more or less suitable for assembly suitable materials, with whom you can work. If you only have a saw and a screwdriver, make it from chipboard or thick plywood. Owners of grinders and welding machines, can afford to make a mini-workbench from metal sheets and tubes. Such a device can even be made of plastic, if there is a way to securely fix it of this material. As clear example, we will provide a guide on how to assemble a small table from thick plywood.

To assemble a simple jigsaw table with your own hands, drawings are generally not required, since the dimensions similar product everyone chooses for themselves individually. As a visual example, we will give a photo of a fairly miniature box indicating the dimensions of all its sides. Based on this data, you can estimate and select the optimal aspect ratio for your future product.

The parts are connected using ordinary self-tapping screws, screwed into the edges of the walls of the table top. If the material used does not have varnished coating To enhance fixation, you can use PVA glue. This design will be stronger, but it will no longer be possible to disassemble it.

Advice. Before screwing finished surface to the base, you should mark in advance and drill a hole in it for the file. Next, place the jigsaw sole on the opposite side, make marks in its grooves for fixation, and then drill. It is more convenient to carry out such manipulations on a clean surface, which will only need to be screwed to the walls.

As a base, you can use a workbench or another, more or less suitable piece of furniture. The author of the following video made a table for working with a jigsaw from an old bedside table, installing a switch and a dust extractor in it.

Jigsaw attachment

Installing a jigsaw on a table greatly simplifies the sawing process. thin materials, but cutting accuracy drops when it comes to thick bars. Due to flexible structure saw blade, when it turns in a large solid wood, the end of the file bends and lags behind the central part. In this case, it will not be possible to obtain an exact 90-degree angle. At least, without a special jigsaw device that holds the file strictly perpendicular to the surface.

To cut material more than 3 cm thick without fear of beveled edges, you just need to adapt a simple device to your mini-machine. The essence of the element’s operation is to fix the end of the file between two freely rotating rollers. To make such a device for a jigsaw with your own hands, you will need following materials:
  • Mounting bracket metal structures(as in the photo)
  • Pair of bearings: 11mm radius
  • Bar: 600x40x40
  • Square of thick plywood or chipboard: 100x100
  • Mounting bracket: 2 pcs
  • Bolts with washers and nuts for fastening to the table and installing the bracket: 5 pcs.
  • Screws with washers and nuts for fixing bearings: 2 pcs.
  • Wood glue
By instruments:
  • Drill with a set of drills for wood and metal
First of all, we will outline the main nuances in the manufacture of the saw stop itself. To do this you need a suitable metal bracket, as in the photo below. You can find one in a specialized fastener store or try your luck at the nearest construction market. If the search is unsuccessful, this element can be replaced with any L-shaped metal plate into which the rib of the saw blade can be rested.

We measure and drill 2 holes for the bearing screws. Their location should be equidistant from each other, at a distance equal to the thickness of the jigsaw file.

Having finished constructing the stop, we move on to assembling and installing the lever. To do this, we make 2 pieces of timber of the required length, and connect them at an angle of 90° using PVA glue and metal corners. We combine the resulting structure with a bearing guide and press it against the side wall of the table with a plate with 4 screws. This fastening technique allows you to change the height of the lever to work with massive materials.

At this point, the guide to assembling a jigsaw table with a file holder is considered complete. Assembled fixture, is a neat and very compact mini-workbench for convenient cutting of materials of various thicknesses. We hope that the author’s product will become a visual example for you or at least give you a couple of ideas for assembling your own table.

Table for cutting with a jigsaw

Such a multifaceted tool as a forehead has several varieties, the simplest of which is manual type devices. This elementary tool, not burdened with an electric drive and complex knots, intended for neat figure cut no blanks large thickness. The speed of work depends on physical indicators and the convenience of the workplace. To facilitate the cutting process, it is recommended to build a special cutting table for a jigsaw, the drawing of which is located below. This simple device will save energy and significantly increase work efficiency.

You can assemble a jigsaw table from the most different materials: plywood, chipboard, wood, laminate, metal and even plastic. If there is absolutely nothing suitable in stock, and the required length must be purchased, then in this case, the most easily accessible and convenient to process will be plywood. To make a complete product you will need the following components:
  • Plywood (or something similar): 260x200x10
  • Clamp
  • Self-tapping screws with countersunk head: 4 things
By instruments:
  • Saw (hacksaw or jigsaw)
  • Drill or screwdriver with a set of drills
  • Ruler
  • Sandpaper or file
The process of making a sawing table is extremely simple. We transfer the contours of the product from the drawing to the workpiece and cut out 2 main parts, as in the photo below. The main thing here is to take into account the thickness of the upper part of your clamp so that it does not stick out. If necessary, the surface can be increased by cutting out another top element.

Pavel Ivanov will tell us about his homemade product - a jigsaw installed in a table. Here he is . The entire structure is made from scraps of 16 mm chipboard. Frame parts (support arm - made of wooden blocks and pieces of plywood/MDF). Table width 250 mm

The jigsaw is secured to the base with a pair of bolts screwed into the base at the front and a bolt at the back. The bolt heads are recessed into the base so that the parts being cut do not catch.

The saw stop is made from a zero bar (sold in electrical stores), a piece of steel wire, and a couple of corners. In addition, a spare jigsaw roller was installed (included in the kit). It is advisable to use a longer file.

Close attention should be paid to the roller and especially to the accuracy of its alignment relative to the file. Under no circumstances should it touch the file; there should be a small gap left, otherwise there will be a lot of noise during operation, heating of the rubbing unit and vibration. First, it is advisable to assemble the support arm separately, put it in place (glue + 3 long confirms, install a jigsaw with a file, and only then screw the assembled assembly with the roller.

The support arm was additionally reinforced with plywood triangles (strong vibration).

The stage (this is the orange part) moves back and forth within the groove. During the “combat” tests, I sawed long (1.5 m) boards, so I simply “screwed” the orange board to the base.
Advantages compared to a simple jigsaw: both hands are free for work, it cuts fairly evenly - there is no saw blade moving to the sides. It is possible to connect a vacuum cleaner to the standard connector of the jigsaw.

The disadvantages include weight and size. Still, the thing is stationary.

Any man can make a jigsaw table with his own hands, even without special carpentry skills. Since a mains-powered jigsaw is an integral part of any household, it will need a workspace. Such a device significantly speeds up the work time, and also allows it to be carried out efficiently, clearly and quickly.

However, we should not forget that to achieve the most highest quality only possible through correct use this tool, that is, by placing it on a jigsaw table.

A stationary device will allow you to turn your tool into a mini-machine, thanks to which you can make a wide variety of patterns.

Jigsaw

A DIY electric jigsaw table has many advantages. In particular, that pick up everything necessary tools for this product it is possible without problems. Important condition— surface rigidity and evenness. Therefore, it is best to opt for a material such as plywood. But the boards should not be thin, as they may warp. Therefore, it is best to take waterproof laminated plywood about 1 cm thick.

Workbench-drawing Box for jigsaw

You can take particle board, which is somewhat thicker than plywood and also stiffer. But most suitable option there will be a high-quality laminate-covered kitchen countertop. The only disadvantage of this material is the poor attachment of tools to the material, so you will have to carefully select fasteners. The main advantage of particle board is its availability - place an order for everything necessary elements You can do it in any workshop. In this case, choose a thickness of about two cm.

We make a couple of holes on the bracket for the bearings. We bolt the L-shaped structure to the base of the table with a piece of thick hardboard. Durable L-shaped structure, rear view
Workflow Now the jigsaw blade does not bend, even when cutting parts from a thick sheet of wood

A DIY metal table is an alternative to a wooden one. The only difficulty is that finding a suitable metal part is somewhat difficult - it must not only be smooth, but also carefully processed. In addition, it will be difficult to make holes for fastenings in such a part. If you watch the video and arm yourself with a drill, everything will be much easier.

At the same time, you should stock up with a simple pencil(it’s better to take a soft one so that it is brighter), a ruler or tape measure, a screwdriver, a drill, self-tapping screws. In addition to this, we will need a square, with which we will mark the product, and also use it on last stage assemblies. At the last stage, fiolent tape and bearings will not be superfluous.

How the process works

In order to construct a basic table, you must prepare drawings. A correctly drawn or selected diagram will make your work much easier. Use a plywood board up to one cm wide as a work space. If the elements are small, you can take a smaller board. At the same time, step back from the edges up to twenty cm and make several holes. Don't forget to mark the places for fastenings at the bottom of the board.

If the jigsaw stand does not have holes, they must be made in four copies. Using the prepared marks, make holes in the plywood. Please note that steel legs must be attached to the board. In this case, the height of the legs depends on the body of the device itself. In this case, the planks are bent at an angle of 90 degrees. To do this, holes are made for fasteners. The device is secured under the plywood element so that the saw looks out through the hole.

Such an ordinary table can be installed on the same workbench or desktop. At the same time, such a table does not need legs, but is fixed at the edges of the workbench. The device should be outside the table. This product attaches perfectly to wood pieces up to three cm thick.

As you can see, making such a table for a jigsaw is not at all difficult. All you need is a little attention and concentration. And, of course, do not forget to strictly adhere to the scheme.

How to make a jigsaw table

If you want to make a table for regular jigsaw, the process will be much easier, since you will not need to bother preparing your workplace for power from the network. First, cut out a blank for the tabletop from plywood.

Don't forget to prepare the holes with a drill into which the screws will be screwed.

In the corners future design There will be squares of plywood that will add rigidity. Prepare the holes so that the jigsaw fits freely into them. The tabletop is attached using self-tapping screws. Don't forget to cut holes for the cutlery in the top of the future table. Please note that the tabletop is fixed rip fence, for this, self-tapping screws are driven into the holes. That's all. The most primitive table for a jigsaw is ready.

It’s even easier to make a sawing table:

Diagram of a sawing table Drawing of a sawing table Another design of a sawing table
Drawing of a classic sawing table It is made from two blanks. The blanks are connected to each other with screws. The screws must be recessed into the workpiece material so that they do not interfere with work

From the author: Hello, dear home craftsmen! Using a mobile compact electric jigsaw You can make curved and straight cuts, even at a given angle. Several design features made this instrument highly targeted. A DIY jigsaw table will help eliminate such a disadvantage as the uncomfortable performance of a straight, high-precision cut due to the saw blade easily changing its own direction.

Crafting table

For comfortable work and ensuring straight line cutting, many craftsmen combine a power tool with a compact stand, turning this “symbiosis” into multifunctional machine. Mounted el. jigsaw into the table surface from the underside so that the saw blade is directed upward and passes through the hole made.

The start key is securely locked, allowing the user to cut wood pieces accurately and have full control over the tool. Homemade device allows for high-precision cuts and can be used when working with large volumes of material.

There is a very simple way to make such a table. For assembly, you can use any materials that you know how to work with. So, if you have a screwdriver and an electric saw at hand, build the table from thick plywood or chipboard.

Owners of welded inverters and angle grinders can make a machine from tubes and steel sheets. Homemade device under a jigsaw can also be built from high-strength plastic, when it is possible to reliably fasten the material into a monolithic structure.

From plywood sheets

For the manufacture of simple table Drawings and stencils are not required, because each tool owner selects the dimensions of such a product personally. All parts are connected using self-tapping screws, which are screwed into the edges of the walls with a screwdriver or screwdriver plywood countertop. In the case when used wood material not covered protective varnish, to improve its fastening, special glue is used - the structure is more durable and cannot be easily disassembled.

Important! Before screwing the prepared surface to wooden base, you need to measure and cut a through hole for the saw blade. After this, place the sole of the jigsaw on the opposite side and mark the holes for the fasteners and drill them.

The above operations are best performed on the finishing surface, which after processing is screwed to the supporting walls. Any workbench or piece of furniture can become a homemade table. The video below will demonstrate how to make a stand for a jigsaw from an old bedside table, placing a dust extractor and a convenient key switch in it.

Additional accessories

Installation manual jigsaw into the tabletop greatly simplifies the sawing process wooden materials, however, cutting accuracy deteriorates if thick bars are used. This is due to the flexibility of the saw, the ends of which, when caught in a wide mass of wood, deviate from the central part. As a result, it is impossible to obtain 90 degrees at the cutting angle. This requires special device, supporting the canvas strictly perpendicular to the surface being treated. To cut solid wood, you need to attach a special device to a homemade mini-workbench.

The principle of its operation is to securely fasten the ends of the saw between the rotating rollers. To make this device you will need the following materials:

  • bracket for strengthening steel structures;
  • bearings radius 10 mm;
  • wooden beam size 600/40/40 mm;
  • plywood sheet square shape 100/100 mm;
  • mounting angle- 2 pieces;
  • bolts for attaching brackets and bearings to the tabletop;
  • glue on wood.

Required tools:

  • electric drill with drills for metal and wood;
  • saw.

To support the saw blade, you need a metal bracket, which can be purchased on the market or at a construction store. Otherwise, it will be replaced by an L-shaped steel plate, against which the edge of the saw blade can rest.

So, measure, then drill two through holes under the bearing screws. It is important that they should be at an equidistant distance from one another. Having completed the design of the stop, you can proceed to the assembly and installation of the lever itself. To do this, cut two beams of the required length, connect them at right angles metal corners or glue.

Connect the structure to the bearing guide, carefully press it to the supporting walls of the table with a metal plate on four screws. This fastening technique will allow you to adjust the height of the lever when processing thick wood. The assembled device will not only be neat, but also compact; it can be used for processing different varieties wood of medium and large thickness.

Cutting table

A multifunctional tool - a jigsaw - has quite a few modifications, the simplest is manual view devices. This is a simple unit, not equipped with complex mechanical components and electrical wires, which is used for high-precision figured sawing of medium-thick wood blanks. The speed of its functioning is determined by the convenience of the workplace and physical indicators masters Makes the sawing process easier homemade table for a jigsaw.

This fairly simple device can significantly increase productivity and save operator effort. You can make it yourself using various materials: wood, chipboard sheets, metal, laminate, high-strength plastic. When there is nothing suitable for the countertop at hand and supporting walls, That required material can be purchased at a store or construction market. In this case, ordinary plywood will be the easiest to process and affordable.

To make a complete product you will need the following components:

  • sheets of plywood measuring 260x200x10 mm;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • clamp.

Tools:

  • saw;
  • electric drill (screwdriver) for wood and metal;
  • yardstick;
  • metal file or sandpaper.

Manufacturing begins with transferring the outline of the product from the drawing to wooden blank, after which all parts are cut out with a saw. At this stage, it is important to take into account the thickness of the upper part of the “clothespin” - it should not stick out. If necessary, the surface of the tabletop can be increased by making several more top elements. The finished parts are connected with self-tapping screws or glue into a durable single structure. The edges are smoothed with sandpaper (file), and the finished device is attached to the table.

From an old sewing machine

There are many other ways to make tabletops for jigsaws, which differ in mounting methods and dimensions. One of them will be discussed below.

Jigsaw and router from sewing machine assembles quickly and without much difficulty. The result of the work is a highly productive homemade machine with electronic regulation of the mechanical stroke of the saw blade.

First, you will need to remove the thread knitting mechanism, which is located at the bottom of the device on most models. To do this, you will need to unscrew several bolts, knock out the cotter pin, and remove the transmission shaft leading to the thread knitting unit. After removing the protective panel, expand the passage of the needle movement to the size of the width of the file that you install on the jigsaw.

Important! Saw blades have different configurations, so it is best to cut them to size with the longest needle that can be installed on an old sewing machine. In order not to make an additional adapter for fastening cutting element on the supporting surface, you can trim the upper incisors or narrow the lower part of the saw blade. The machine is ready to use!

Note that I drank el. jigsaw is not suitable for making patterns complex shape in wood. For this, a special thin cloth is used, which is attached to the instrument using a special device.

The tool is attached to the tabletop, the saw must be well tensioned; the usual installation on a pendulum stroke will definitely not work in this case. To simplify the process of tensioning the saw, you need to cut a rocker arm from a thick block. The tension of the web in this case will be performed by a metal spring. The lower loop is put on the longitudinal pin, and the upper one is placed in the adjusting screw, which changes the tension force of the shock absorber.

Important! Blanks for similar workbenches in mandatory case must be made of hard wood. After all, the jigsaw table does not provide the ability to secure a saw blade, but you can process an old saw blade by making through holes in it, equipping it with a bolt and nut, a metal plate with a clamping mechanism. The rocker arm must have a vertical hole; it is into this that another plate will be inserted, which is secured with bolts.

Basic rules for working on a jigsaw table

When working on any table, whether homemade or purchased, you must follow certain rules:

  • When cutting, it is not recommended to feed the wooden workpiece onto the saw blade with great force, otherwise this may lead to its breakage. During regular use, the saw quickly becomes unusable and requires periodic replacement;
  • when sawing thin steel sheets, a plywood sheet should be placed under them;
  • the jigsaw must be firmly attached to the tabletop;
  • long cuts are best made using guide bars;
  • the parameters of the saw blade must correspond to the characteristics of the material used;
  • when cutting a laminated workpiece, tape must be glued to the cut site to prevent the formation of nicks;
  • When making circular cuts, the jigsaw pendulum is set at a minimum height.

Jigsaw - indispensable assistant for any professional and novice master. Using it, you will be able to make figures of any complexity from various materials. Quality table for the tool will facilitate the work process, improve the final quality, provide additional convenience and high safety for the user.
