Quick and inexpensive fertilizers for do-it-yourself use in the countryside
According to statistics, about 15-20% of all summer residents have tried to prepare fertilizers with their own hands. This makes it possible not only to make the necessary reserves of fertilizers and apply them systematically to improve the soil, but also to save money on purchasing fertilizers.

    Content:

Organic and mineral fertilizers plants need for growth and development, and each of us understands this. No crop will produce a proper harvest if left alone with nature and depleted soil. Therefore, we often talk about how to make compost with your own hands, how to replace some mineral additives with green manure, and what else you can come up with to enrich the soil for summer cottage. Today we decided to continue this topic, because we talked with some specialists and acquired new knowledge. Do-it-yourself fertilizers for the garden are no longer a problem!

Choose the right ingredients to get the best fertilizers

    Benefits of homemade fertilizers

The number of advantages in preparing such fertilizers is simply enormous, but we will only point out the main ones, which direct us away from garden supermarkets to our own plot, where there is everything necessary for preparing fertilizers.

    • So, first of all, this is pure cost savings, since we have everything at the dacha to lay down and prepare a certain composition. These are weeds that we simply dry and burn, and more useful plants, which can be used in the recipe, and the same chicken manure, which is one of the best suppliers of nitrogen, magnesium, potassium, boron, zinc and other elements.
    • Next, we will say that such fertilizers are always fresh, and you monitor their quality yourself. It is not necessary to prepare fertilizers for the future; you can always infuse them a week and a half in advance for fertilizing, so that the composition does not deteriorate and brings greatest benefit.
    • And finally, these are environmentally friendly fertilizers, which do not contain any chemicals that can have Negative influence on garden plants. Agree, after all, you take all the materials for preparing fertilizers from own plot where you do not use harmful chemicals to grow plants or animals.

The main advantages of fertilizers prepared independently

Perhaps this is enough motivation to try your hand at preparing miracle remedies for growing garden and garden crops Location on!

    Nettle supplements

The first recipe we offer is based on nettles. You can use fresh nettle harvested in spring or summer, the main thing is to make sure that there are no seeds on the plant. If the moment is missed, prepare the nettles, dry them, remove the seeds, and then follow the same recipe.

How to prepare nettle fertilizer for the garden?

To prepare nettle fertilizer, place it in a plastic container at the very bottom. This should be a good kilogram of greens or a jar or two of dry grass. Afterwards, pour 6-8 liters of rain or settled water into the nettles and leave this mixture in the sun. Every day, stirring the future fertilizer several times, infuse the nettle for 6-10 days. Be prepared for the fact that the infusion will foam, ferment, and increase in volume, and therefore it is better to immediately choose a slightly larger container. Also, a specific smell will appear, which is not very pleasant; you will have to endure it in order to fertilize the plants. In this regard, move preparation and settling away from buildings, closer to utility yard.

What requirements must be observed when preparing fertilizer with your own hands?

The finished infusion should be used at the end of the fermentation process. To water with infusion, use the following recipe for preparing fertilizing - 1 part of infusion to 9 parts of water, watering at the root. If you decide to spray with fresh organic matter, then the recipe slightly reduces the concentration - 1 part infusion to 19 parts water.

    Wood ash fertilizer

We often use wood ash for processing beds in the country, but it can be used to make even more effective remedy if you follow the right recipe.

Wood ash on the site is extremely useful!

Wood ash contains many vitamins and beneficial microelements, so let's try to deliver them directly to the plants in need. To do this, we recommend preparing high-quality liquid fertilizer from ash. You only need 150 g of ash and 10 liters of water, quick mixing and infusion for 15 minutes. If the question arises about where to get that ash, then the material after frying meat on a fire or after burning tree trimmings is perfect for the process.

After cooking, this remedy can be used for watering the most different plants. So, for example, under mature trees it is enough to pour 1 bucket of ash solution, but under cabbage, cucumbers and tomatoes, the norm would be 500 ml of solution per bush.

Be sure to follow the recipe when making your own ash fertilizer

    Do-it-yourself fertilizer from rotten grass

It would seem that there is nothing more useless than mowed grass. However, it can be a wonderful supplement for berry bushes. It is most effective for gooseberries and currants.

Grass harvested on the outskirts of the site can become useful for garden beds

Interesting fact is that you don’t have to prepare anything, you just need to scatter the grass in an area with plants, put it under the bushes, and wait for the positive effect. Bacteria that live in rotten grass do a good job of suppressing many garden diseases!

Grass in the garden is used in the form of mulch and fertilizing

Naturally, there are other recipes for preparing fertilizers in the country, but it is simply unrealistic to list them all. IN in this case, we just decided to remind you of one of the previous materials, in which we talked about fertilizers for flowers from eggshells, coffee grounds and other products. It is quite possible that reading the article will help you choose high-quality fertilizing for plants in flowerpots and pots.

Great ways described in the article, almost all of them are used by my grandmother and mother :) Chemical fertilizers are evil. I don’t understand why people deliberately poison themselves when they can do it on their own and at the same time contribute to their health. Another option for preparing your own fertilizer: you need to collect food waste over the winter, such as tea, coffee, orange peels; this mass should be stored in a tight bag somewhere on the balcony. In the spring it is all buried in the ground. Works great:)

My mother has been making fertilizer from ash for quite some time. This great option- economical, getting ash is not a problem at all, and there is an effect. And my friend makes fertilizer from chicken manure. It adds something else, but I didn’t write down the recipe. Says that better fertilizer doesn’t know, but the smell, of course, is terrible. I believe that for the sake of a good harvest, you can be patient a little.

We constantly use our own fertilizers, compost, nettles, ash, and use mowed grass from the lawn both as top dressing and as mulch. and even closer to autumn we sow mustard in the vacant beds, it sprouts quickly and quickly, and late in the fall we dig it up and the bed is ready for a new harvest

Be careful when using such fertilizers. Contains a large number of microelements. It is important to know what components the soil lacks and add the appropriate ones.

It is necessary to apply some fertilizers in order for the garden or vegetable garden to produce a high yield. If you don’t have the necessary organic fertilizers on hand, but you want to get good results, you can use fertilizers made at home.

The article will help answer many questions, as well as main question: how to make fertilizers with your own hands?

Typically, these products can be made from what you have on hand, as a rule, these are products of environmentally friendly origin. The manufacturing process will not take much time and will significantly save the family budget.

Advantages

If you have any doubts about the effectiveness of fertilizers made at home, then several of the listed advantages will completely eliminate doubts. Among the main ones we can note:

  • Saving. This is the very first plus, since creating the solution will not require additional investments; everything you need is usually available from your summer cottage or garden.
  • Excellent quality fertilizer. This point is very relevant, since the raw materials for the solution are always fresh, and it is possible to verify the quality of the product.
  • Environmentally friendly product composition. No additives have been added to the fertilizer. chemical substances, since the entire process is carried out independently.

These three positions are quite enough to take on self-production fertilizers for your garden.

Manure as fertilizer

Animal excrement contains a very high content of useful substances for the development and prosperity of garden plants. First of all, this is:

  • potassium,
  • calcium,
  • nitrogen,
  • phosphorus,
  • magnesium,
  • iron,
  • active microflora.

It is these components that have a beneficial effect on plants. But, like any additive, it has its own proportions, which cannot be exceeded. To figure out how to properly feed the soil with manure without harming the plants, you need to know all the rules of use.

Kinds

The first thing you need to know is that manure can be different types, which are characterized by the degree of decomposition.

  • Fresh.
  • Half-rotted.
  • Completely rotted.
  • Humus.

The second option is more often used as a liquid fertilizer. The proportion for its composition looks like 1 kg of manure diluted in 10 liters of water. This fertilizer is suitable for cucumbers, pumpkins, cabbage, zucchini and spinach.

How to improve productivity?

We are constantly receiving letters in which amateur gardeners are worried that due to the cold summer this year bad harvest potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables. Last year we published TIPS on this matter. But unfortunately, many did not listen, but some still applied. Here is a report from our reader, we would like to recommend plant growth biostimulants that will help increase the yield by up to 50-70%.

Read...

The third version of manure is less concentrated, so for liquid composition the proportion is doubled.

For the fourth option, any fertilizing method is suitable for any plants. It helps improve the taste of berries and vegetables; moreover, it is used both for mulching and for fertilizing the soil.

In addition, manure differs according to the animals from which it comes:

  • Horse.
  • Bovine.
  • Pork.

The favorite among this fertilizer is horse dung. It is this that decomposes in the soil faster than other options, releasing a lot of heat into the ground, as well as enriching it useful substances. It is suitable for both the vegetable garden and the greenhouse.

Cow dung takes second place compared to horse. It takes longer for it to completely decompose, although it warms the earth less. For greater efficiency, it is used together with sawdust.

Pig manure is usually used together with horse manure, because pig excrement takes a long time to decompose and practically does not warm the ground.

Preparing fertilizer from manure

The manufacturing process is quite simple; you need to prepare special wooden boxes in which layers of peat moss and manure will be placed. Peat perfectly absorbs the released liquid.

It will take 4–6 months to completely convert the components into fertilizer.

And to obtain the composition of humus, it will take a year or two. If you do not have this fertilizer at your disposal, then you can use other options for the fertility of vegetable plants.

Nettle as a fertilizer

Nettles for these purposes are taken from the summer or spring harvest; you must remember that the collected plant should not have seeds.

To prepare liquid fertilizer, you need to take care of the container where the cut nettles will be placed.

Preparation

For 1 kg of raw nettle, take 6-8 liters of rainwater. Both components are placed in a container and left in the sun, while stirring the mixture several times a day every day. The cooking process will be accompanied by fermentation, and therefore an increase in volume, so the container must be large enough.

In addition, the mixture will release bad smell, therefore, the place for future fertilizer must be selected away from the residential area.

The fertilizer will be ready after 6–10 days.

Determining the readiness of fertilizer is quite simple. If foam and air bubbles do not form on the surface, then the mixture has fermented and is completely ready for use.

To water plants with this composition, use the following recipe:

  • 1 part mixture
  • 9 parts water.

The resulting solution is poured under the roots of the plants. If, in addition to watering, you need to spray the plants with this fertilizer, then the concentration of the solution should be weaker:

  • 1 part mixture
  • 19 parts water.

Wood ash as fertilizer

Wood ash is often used to treat or feed gardening plants in a summer cottage. In addition, the ash can be used to make fertilizer. It will be more effective than other methods, but only with the right dosage.

Since wood ash contains a lot of vitamins and microelements, it is very useful for any type of vegetation. To help plants get the necessary components, you need to prepare a special solution:

  • ash-150 grams,
  • water - 10 liters.

These two components are thoroughly mixed in any container and left for about 15 minutes. After the allotted time, you can begin to fertilize the planted plants with the composition.

If you have a question about where to get wood ash, the answer will not be long in coming. Usually, after grilling shish kebab, many people have heat left in the grill, which will be wood ash, as well as the remains of ash after burning branches of pruned trees.
This solution can be added to both trees and vegetable plants. For a tree, one bucket per root is enough; for plants of vegetable origin, add a solution at the rate of 0.5 liters per plant.

Rotted grass as fertilizer

If you do not have the above-described components for fertilizing your garden, you can use mowed grass. Many people believe that mowed grass has no value, it is absolutely useless. But experienced summer residents will never agree with this. You can prepare fertilizer based on mown grass in the same way as with ash and nettles, and its value will be no less than other options. Fertilizer will be useful for any bushes, especially for gooseberries and currants.

But the most interesting thing is that with this method of fertilization, a person does not need to do anything with this raw material. It will be enough that the mowed grass is placed on the ground under bushes, near trees or between plants in the beds. Nature will do the rest, because bacteria develop in the mown grass, which do an excellent job of various diseases garden plants.

Herbal infusion - universal organic fertilizer

This procedure is usually performed in autumn period, and before the onset of spring, the grass completely rots. In addition to fertilizer, it covers the roots of shrubs, preventing them from freezing.

In addition to this method, you can use another one, when you fill a container with mowed grass and water, and then close it tightly with a lid. This composition is infused for about 7–10 days, after which it is also used for any garden plants.

Each type of fertilizer is good in its own way, but which one to give preference to is chosen by the owners of the land plot.

Attention, TODAY only!

How to make fertilizers with your own hands for the garden. Homemade fertilizers are simple, cheap and effective.

We all dream of growing our own personal plot good harvest vegetables and fruits without nitrates and all kinds of “chemicals”. That is why you need to feed cultivated plants with fertilizers made with your own hands. This type of feeding is very popular among experienced summer residents. For these purposes, they use almost everything that grows in the country. Homemade fertilizers have many benefits.

The most important advantage of their use is cost savings. After all, you can prepare them from available ingredients. You may find various garden plants useful, even weeds, which should be dried and then burned.

If you are breeding poultry, then you can use its droppings as fertilizer. It is rich in nitrogen, potassium, magnesium and other important elements.

There is no need to stock up on homemade fertilizer for future use. You can do as much as you need to fertilize a specific area. So you always get fresh, high-quality composition, which will only bring benefits.

In addition, by making fertilizers yourself, you can always be sure of their naturalness. As is known, chemistry causes significant harm to both the life of plants and human health. This is why homemade fertilizers are much better than those sold in the supermarket.

There are several recipes for making homemade fertilizers:

Wood ash fertilizer

Many experienced summer residents use wood ash to fertilize their plots. It is a product obtained after burning various plant materials. This could be tops, dry grass or tree branches.

Ash significantly improves the composition of the soil and does not contaminate it with toxic substances. Containing organic substances, it can be an alternative to mineral fertilizers. In addition, ash can reduce the acidity of the soil and also make it looser.

To prepare liquid fertilizer from wood ash, you need to take 150 grams of it and mix it with 10 liters of water, and then leave for 15 minutes.

This product can be used to water trees, cucumbers, tomatoes and cabbage. For greater efficiency, wood ash can be mixed with compost, humus or peat. But connect it with bird droppings and nitrogen fertilizers are highly undesirable, since this results in the loss of most of the nitrogen.

Fertilizer based on rotted grass

Who said that grass clippings are useless? It turns out that it's quite the opposite. It can be used to feed various shrubby plants: gooseberries, currants, raspberries.

To do this, simply spread the mowed grass on the site, paying attention Special attention the base of the bushes. Experienced summer residents It is recommended to do this for the winter. This way you will protect the plants from the winter cold and can prevent the occurrence of certain plant diseases.

Nettle fertilizer

If you want to feed flowering plants, then ordinary nettle, which grows in almost any area, is useful for these purposes. It is better to mow it before the seeds appear. One kilogram of grass is placed in plastic container and fill with settled water in the amount of 6-8 liters.

The mixture should be infused in the sun for 10 days. To make the infusion better, it needs to be stirred periodically. It is advisable to do this several times a day. The herbal mixture will expand, ferment and foam. In addition, an unpleasant odor may appear.

This must be taken into account when making such fertilizer. The finished infusion is diluted with water and used for root feeding or for spraying plants. The ratio of water and infusion is selected taking into account the procedure being performed.

Nettle is also used in pure form. If you mulch the beds with it, it will significantly improve growth and development cultivated plants, and will also repel some pests.

Top dressing, organic fertilizer for garden beds with your own hands

A flawless lawn at your dacha all summer long!

Nadezhda Nikolaevna, 49 years old. I have been planting grass near my house for many years. Therefore, we even have experience in this area. But my lawn has never looked as gorgeous as after using Aquagrazz! Like heaven and earth. The lawn is lush and dark green even in the heat. Requires minimal watering.

Of course, such fertilizers are not highly effective and cannot replace organic and mineral analogues. But it’s still better to start with natural substances, and if necessary, switch to chemistry.

Economic justification

dispenser manufacturing.

To calculate the costs of manufacturing a dispenser, you need to know the cost of the materials from which it is made, the cost of electricity, depreciation (wear and tear) of machine equipment and salary deductions.
The materials for this product were selected from a broken microphone stand, a sewing machine, a jigsaw, or you could buy it in a store or market. We did not buy anything to make the cultivator.

The following calculations allow you to find out the approximate cost of my product.

Metal parts were used to make the ripper. The total weight of the product is 1.5 kilograms. If all material is valued at scrap price, its value will be:

5.5 rub. * 1.5 kg = 8.2 rub.

In the manufacture of the dispenser, lathe and drilling machines, electric sharpener, Grinder. The price for 1 kWh of electricity is 2.89 rubles.

If we take into account the time worked by the equipment and the power of its electric motor, we get approximate energy costs:

TOTAL: 9.54 rub.

To paint the cultivator, 10 grams of paint were used.

75 rub. * 0.01 = 0.75 rub.

The cost of equipment depreciation, as my teacher told me, will be small, since the machines work very a short time. Therefore, it can be ignored.

Deductions for wages are made on the basis that payment for 1 hour of work for a 1st category mechanic is 5.00 rubles. My 10 hours of work are paid by salary (cost of work)

C = 5.00 * 10 = 50.00 rub.

So, the cost (cost) for manufacturing a cultivator will be:

C = 8.20 + 9.54 + 0.75 + 50.00 = 68,24 rub.

Conclusion

Preliminary tests of the dispenser syringe showed its performance, ease of use and the need for further use and improvement. The quality of work performed is noticeably improved and the time it takes to complete it is reduced. The design of the product is simple and does not require any configuration. The main disadvantage of the device is the impossibility of accurately dosing the applied portion of fertilizer. If the need arises (after longer testing of the dispenser), this will be the first topic for its improvement.

The tool is easy and convenient to use, it is safe to use and does not require any significant costs for preparation for work and maintenance. While working on the project, I was able to get involved in real creativity, master new techniques for processing materials, and strengthen my plumbing skills.

The tool is designed to work on prepared soil and has not been tested on virgin and turf soils.
