Living at home, we want to make it as comfortable as possible for us. Home is the place we return to after a difficult time. working day, and for us it is a place where we can finally relax and feel calm and comfortable. And if just a relaxing bath doesn’t help you, then a sauna on the balcony will. perfect solution. It won’t be easy to build this convenience, but how nice it will be to come and warm your blood after hard everyday life. You can choose the time convenient for you and not worry about cleanliness.

Where to begin?

First of all, you must determine for yourself whether you will build the sauna yourself or buy it from a manufacturer. Both of these options each have their own advantages, so the decision here is entirely up to you. If you decide, at your own peril and risk, to make a sauna yourself, then at the very beginning you need to check the materials. They must be fireproof, especially those that will come into contact with the stove. They should also not release toxic substances when the sauna heats up.

You also need to take heaviness into account. The sauna box should not be too heavy, otherwise the balcony may not support the entire weight.

Ideally, metal supports should be added under the balcony to support its weight.

And also, before starting work, it is worth expanding the balcony a little to create more space. This doesn't require much work. It is necessary to make the walls completely blank, not to forget about good glazing, which will increase the level of thermal insulation, and install high-quality double-glazed windows.

More on initial stage You must immediately determine where the ventilation hole will be located.

You can build a sauna on a loggia in the shortest possible time if you follow all the recommendations of experts and take into account the law. The Finnish sauna has the most positive reviews.

Insulation

The balcony must be insulated with mineral wool. If you insulate it from the inside, then there will be almost no space left for the sauna itself, and it will be too small for the permitted standards. Therefore, it is better to upholster it from the outside. To do this, you will need foam plastic slabs that will not let the cold inside, since they themselves have thermal insulation properties.

After the thermal insulation from the outside is ready, you can begin work inside the sauna, located on the balcony.

Interior arrangement

After insulating the balcony itself, we begin finishing the inside floor covering. We do it around the perimeter of the balcony. In the steam room itself, it should be made 10-20 centimeters higher so that the cabin is always dry.

The arrangement of the sauna must occur in the correct sequence:

  • The first thing you need to do is lay waterproofing material. Next, logs from beams are installed. About 5-8 centimeters in height in increments of 40-50 centimeters.
  • Then insulation is laid between them and another waterproofing layer is laid.

  • After this, the floorboards are nailed to the walls so as not to get burned while visiting the sauna. Ideal tree, which will be suitable for a sauna - hardwood with a shrinkage of approximately 10%.
  • We nail beams with a cross section of 5 cm2 onto the wall. The walls inside the cabin must be lined with plywood so that the insulation is completely adjacent to the inner surface and does not allow heat to pass through.
  • A foil vapor barrier is carefully inserted into the openings between the beams. It must be laid with the reflective side facing out.

  • The mineral wool should be cut so that it is 4-5 centimeters wider. This will ensure a more secure fit to the walls of the sauna.
  • Next, we lay out the insulation in the space between the beams.
  • Finally, aluminum foil is nailed onto the heat shield so that the reflective surface is on the inside. The joints are connected with specialized tape using metal. And lining is used as cladding.

Creating a ceiling

To avoid any troubles while using the bathhouse, you need to pay a lot of attention to vapor barrier. This is very important, because when you use the sauna, hot steam rises and settles on the ceiling in the form of water droplets. If you do not pay attention to this point, soon the neighbors from above will begin to come and complain about dampness and mold.

In these works, it is important to do everything step by step:

  • First of all, we lay bars 5 centimeters thick. Their step should be around 40 centimeters. The distance between them must be filled with waterproofing material.

Select only quality material from a trusted manufacturer.

  • Next, we will equip the insulation: we press it to the ceiling using a wooden plank and nail it in place. In some cases, it can be fixed with a stapler.
  • After this, the vapor barrier membrane must be fixed in two layers, and finally the ceiling must be lined with clapboard, which must be of high quality and moisture resistant.

How to lay electrical wiring?

In order for the electrical wiring in the bathhouse to serve for a long time and with high quality, and also to meet all fire safety standards, you need to approach this very responsibly. You must have a cable that has heat-resistant insulation.

It is very important to prepare for this, because this is a very painstaking work in which you cannot make mistakes. Therefore, it is important to follow the sequence of actions:

  • First of all, the distribution panel is mounted.
  • After this, you need to check the power supply. She in mandatory An RCD (residual current device) must be provided.

  • From distribution panel you need to make a separate outlet.
  • To connect, you should use a corrugated pipe. This will increase fire safety.

  • Next, the wire that is used for the lamp must be placed in a special metal sleeve and placed above the ceiling. These lamps can withstand temperatures of 120 degrees, which is very convenient.

Create a ventilation hole

Ventilation must be carried out from the outside to prevent odors from coming from inside. The sufficient size for a bathhouse ventilation window is 50x50 centimeters. A part is cut out that fits close to the walls. There should be no gaps between them. After this, the handle is glued where it will be convenient to use.

We equip the bath frame

In order to make the sauna convenient, comfortable and, most importantly, safe, you need to correctly determine the size. Perfect option– width starting from 80 centimeters and height from 210 centimeters.

Since constructing a frame is a rather delicate and scrupulous job, you need to do it step by step:

  • First, bars 5 centimeters thick are attached vertically and horizontally to the floor. The step should be about 40 centimeters.
  • After outer side upholstered with plywood sheets on which a waterproofing film is attached.

  • Hydro- and thermal protection is installed inside the cabin. To ensure that the material adheres completely to the walls, the mineral wool is cut wider by several centimeters.
  • A vapor barrier membrane is laid on top.
  • All joints must be connected using special metal tape.

  • Wooden paneling must be installed on both sides of the cabin.
  • The result is the installation of a door that should open outward for convenience. This will help save the already small space of the sauna. Under no circumstances should you make a lock from the inside.

Let's start installing the oven

The safest and most convenient stove for a sauna on the balcony is a stove with a heating element (tubular electric heater). It has a power of 4000-4500 W, which is quite enough for a small sauna.

The heater itself should be connected to a separate outlet via an RCD. But also do not forget that the stove must match all the parameters of the electrical wiring in the apartment itself, otherwise nothing will work.

It is best to consult a specialist in this matter. After all, the terminal boxes good stoves are located at the back, and thanks to this, moisture cannot get there. Plus, a high-quality stove must have a fireproof steel grate and a water tray, which is also important.

The furnace parts are installed in a certain sequence:

  • You need to start with the heater. It must be installed on an electrically insulated stand. It should be placed inside a chamber made of foam blocks or fire-resistant bricks.
  • The chamber remains open at the top and a basket is placed on it, which is welded from a metal corner.
  • In order to maintain fire safety, the entire surface around the stove should be covered with asbestos cardboard, because it is fire-resistant and heat-resistant.
  • Finally, stones for the stove are placed inside the basket: jadeite, quartzite and/or soapstone.

It is important that the weight of the stones does not exceed 15 kilograms, otherwise the room will not warm up well.

When living in an apartment, you want to create a relaxation area for yourself that could completely relax and distract you from everyday life. The idea of a sauna on the balcony of an apartment is simply ideal; moreover, it is easy to implement and accessible to every family. Reviews about the sauna on the balcony are only positive and the benefits are great. First of all, all procedures will take place at home and at any convenient time, you can be absolutely sure of the cleanliness and order of the room, and you can also immediately relax after the steam room, and not have to travel a long way home.

How to build a sauna on the balcony

In order to build a bathhouse on the balcony, you need to make sure that the balcony structure is strong. If necessary, add metal supports under the balcony that will support the balcony, because its weight will increase after building a sauna on it.

When the problem with the strength of the structure is solved, it is necessary to take care of the thermal insulation of the balcony to build a sauna on it.

Considering that all balconies are mostly standard, high-quality insulation will take up some area of the room, and the sauna on the balcony will have too small an area, which is contrary to safety rules. The width of the sauna itself must be at least 0.8 meters, and the height must not be less than 2 meters. In this case, the right decision would be to insulate the balcony from the outside. For this purpose, foam plastic boards are used, which do not let the cold into the room and have thermal insulation properties. After insulating the balcony from the outside, you can begin construction work inside.

To do this you will need the following materials::

  • Mineral wool according to the area of the room, taking into account the ceiling;
  • Wooden beams with a section of 50x50 mm, length according to the height of the balcony;
  • Screws;
  • Lining;
  • Folgoizol;
  • Wiring cable with boxes;

You will also need auxiliary tools: hammer, pliers, saw, etc.

Interior work in the mini-sauna

The sauna should be located in the corner of the building, and adjacent to the walls. If the sauna is adjacent to the street, this will become a problem for creating high temperatures in the steam room; the heat will go outside.

The sauna room is insulated from the inside:

  1. Insulating the sauna ceiling. To insulate the ceiling and the sauna room as a whole, mineral wool is used. This material is safe when exposed to high temperatures, has high thermal insulation properties, is easy to use and durable. Wooden beams are placed on the ceiling at intervals of 25-35 cm, the space between them is filled with mineral wool, then foil insulation, foil inside and secured with wooden planks, which will serve finishing material. To install the ceiling according to this scheme. You will need an assistant who will hold the materials, because... Attaching materials to the ceiling is a very inconvenient job.
  2. Wall insulation. Before insulating the walls, you need to take care of the wiring; you need to run a separate cable from electric meter to the sauna, which will provide electricity only to the sauna. To insulate the walls you will need wooden beams with a cross section of 50x50 mm, which are mounted vertically with screws into the walls at a distance of up to 50 cm from each other. The space between the beams is sewn up with mineral wool. Then the walls are sewn up with foil insulation, and a lath is placed on the foil insulation to create air cushion, on which planks or lining are mounted, which serve as finishing material for the wall.
  3. Floor insulation. The floor in the sauna on the balcony is made with a slope on the street so that condensing liquid, which can accumulate after procedures in the sauna, freely flows outside the room on the street and does not reach neighbors on the floor below. Stuffed on the floor wooden joists with an intermediate space of 25-30 cm, the distance between them is filled mineral wool. The surface is covered with waterproofing materials, and then boards are laid, which will serve as the floor for the sauna room.

The glazing of windows on the balcony should be warm in order to maintain the temperature inside the room as much as possible.

After the insulation of the sauna is completed, you can begin installation heating system and finishing work.

Heating the sauna on the balcony

How to make heating for a sauna on the balcony? The easiest way to create a heating system in a sauna steam room is to install a factory-made stove or electric heater. The infrared burner inside the electric fireplace is designed so that it heats the steam room and can produce steam.

On top of the stove there is a container for stones, which, when heated, releases thermal energy into the room, and when exposed to water, the stones release steam.

All wired system and the terminals are located on the back of such furnaces and are protected by special plates from moisture and from the formation of condensation. It is important to remember that such heating works from electrical network and involves the installation of durable electrical wiring during installation and insulation of walls and ceilings.

DIY sauna ventilation

The ventilation system of a sauna in an apartment requires a special approach. Without ventilation, sauna operation is not possible, and the main goal ventilation system in a sauna, this is direct access of air into the room. To do this, a ventilation window is created in the sauna, which breaks through the wall and provides direct flow fresh air to the sauna. For a sauna on the balcony, a window measuring 50x50 cm will be sufficient, which is punched through the wall and finished with plastic; the ventilation window plug is made of pure wood, on its inside there is a handle of their wood and a bolt.

The sauna premises are ventilated after each procedure in it and during such procedures, if the temperature is too high or if necessary.

Finishing work for the sauna on the balcony

After finishing insulation works, it is necessary to begin the interior arrangement of the sauna. The layout of the sauna depends on its location. Corner sauna will be smaller in area than its longitudinal arrangement, but in any of the options it is important to rationally place the shelves and fireplace.

Since a sauna in an apartment on the balcony can accommodate no more than two people, the construction of two shelves will be sufficient for the steam room. It is not advisable to attach shelves to the wall; it is better to construct them from the floor. To do this, you will need wooden beams that will be secured to the floor and to each other, creating a shelf for sitting or lying on. The distance between the first and second shelf should be at least 50 cm to make it comfortable to sit and place on the shelves.

The material for the construction of shelves in the sauna should be made of wood; timber from linden, poplar, and aspen are perfect for this.

After the shelves are strengthened, they must be sanded well to achieve smooth surface. And after the surfaces of the shelves are sanded, they are coated with a special solution that prevents the wood from drying out or swelling when exposed to moisture.

Doors from the sauna to the steam room can be either glass or wooden.

For safety reasons and to avoid burns, all screws holding the beams on walls and shelves are deepened into the beams, and their caps are closed with wooden plugs, which can be cut to the size of the hole or set with glue.

After finishing construction work, the sauna must be equipped with auxiliary items. You will need hangers for clothes, towels and hats.

In the sauna, a mandatory item is a thermometer, which will help control the thermal regime during the procedures.

Rating

It's good if you have country cottage area and a bathhouse on it. But what if you live in an apartment? After all, you really want to relax and gain strength after a hard day at work in your own sauna. There is a solution - to equip it on a balcony or loggia.

If you are the owner large balcony, then you can equip a bathhouse right here, of course, observing all the requirements of the law when carrying out redevelopment. In your own sauna, you will always be calm and confident that hygiene is maintained and the room is clean, and you won’t have to waste time traveling and paying for this expensive pleasure in other establishments.

Of course, you can buy a ready-made mini sauna, but you will have to spend a lot of money on this. It’s easier to equip a mini steam room on the balcony with your own hands. Typically, the dimensions of a compact sauna reach 80 cm in width and 2 m in height. If you have construction skills and a desire to make a steam room with your own hands, use detailed instructions on the Internet and with improvised means, or hire for professional consultation competent master.

Differences between Russian steam room and Finnish sauna

Before erecting a structure on the balcony, decide what kind of structure it will be. For example, if internal organization While the Russian steam room and the Finnish sauna are almost identical, the heating and heating systems are completely different. In a Russian bath, these are classic firewood and stones, onto which water is supplied, resulting in wet steam. And, of course, you must have a broom with which to cleanse the body. But more modern ones Finnish saunas usually equipped with an electric oven and produce dry steam.

Of course, simpler and practical option is a dry steam room when you don't need to borrow extra bed under firewood and clean the ash in the stove and on the floor, and stones heated by an electric fireplace will increase the temperature in the room in just a few minutes. But the Russian steam room has its own “soul”, and who doesn’t want to steam with a fragrant broom. The choice of sauna type is up to you.

Advantages and benefits of a compact steam room

The idea of a sauna on the balcony is ideal and quite easy to implement. Reviews about such a sauna are mostly positive, and the design of a steam room on a balcony has plenty of advantages and disadvantages:

  • minimal financial costs;
  • the effect of a real sauna;
  • small sizes;
  • no firewood required;
  • rapid heating of the room;
  • personal hygiene and safety (your own steam room will protect you from diseases that can be transmitted in public places);
  • convenience (no need to go out at home, you can steam at any time of the day or night).

How to build your own mini sauna on the balcony

Since it is very problematic and expensive to arrange the supply and removal of water from the balcony, it is worth limiting yourself to steam procedures in a mini sauna, and continuing water procedures in the bath or shower. Before starting construction work, it is advisable to strengthen the balcony structure with supports, and then take care of insulating the room from the inside and outside. It is better for the sauna to be adjacent to the walls of the building, and not to have at least one side facing the street. After all, if the heat loss is too high, then the room will not be able to warm up to the required temperatures.

The walls of the steam room are made “solid”, and double-glazed windows are installed in the “anteroom” (the glazed part of the balcony). Don't forget to provide space for ventilation. Be sure to equip the steam room with a “plug” type ventilation hole. After each bath procedure, ventilate the room well to get rid of excess moisture, or do this during the washing process if there is a need to reduce the temperature in the steam room.

Necessary materials

To install the sauna you need at least 2 people and the following building materials:

  • insulation (mineral wool around the perimeter of the entire room);
  • beams along the height of the balcony;
  • waterproofing membrane;
  • asbestos cardboard;
  • folgisol;
  • cable;

  • lining;
  • pipe;
  • Styrofoam;
  • boards;
  • metal sleeve;
  • auxiliary tools.

Insulation of the sauna

Along with reliable plastic windows which will help to maintain the temperature in the dressing room as best as possible, you will need additional insulation and insulation of the steam room. For insulating the ceiling of a room, this is suitable thermal insulation material like mineral wool. It is durable and absolutely safe to use. The beams are fixed on the ceiling approximately 35 cm apart and mineral wool is placed in the space between them, and then foil insulation is fixed.

Before treating the walls, you need to install the wiring from the electric meter to the sauna. It is worth using a special heat-resistant cable. To save space on the balcony, the outside should be insulated with foam plastic. Inside, 50x50 mm bars are placed vertically at a distance of about half a meter. The space between them is filled with mineral wool for insulation. Then the walls are covered with foil insulation, onto which slats are subsequently nailed. This structure is finally sheathed with clapboard or other wood material. Perfect for finishing boards with shrinkage less than 10%.

Before insulating the floor, keep in mind that the floor structure itself must be installed with an inclination towards the street so that condensation and moisture do not accumulate inside the room and create problems for you and your neighbors. Logs are placed on the floor 30 cm apart and filled with mineral wool. The floor is first covered with waterproofing and then with boards. And in the steam room, the floor is made at least 10 cm higher than in the rest of the room to ensure additional outflow of liquid.

Installation of heating elements

The main heating element in a sauna steam room is an electric heater or a factory stove. If you choose an electric fireplace, the room will be heated infrared burner. A container for stones on top not only helps to quickly warm up the room, but also releases steam. By the way, the total weight of the stones should not exceed 15 kg - this is quite enough to warm up the steam room. The stove is connected through its own RCD on a 25A machine to a separate outlet.

Choose heating elements that are adapted to the sauna conditions and are protected from condensation. On such stoves, the terminals are usually located at the back and are protected from moisture. In addition, it is desirable for the stove to have a fireproof grate and a special tray for water. For safety reasons, the surfaces around the heater should be finished with asbestos cardboard, which has high heat resistance.

Lighting

When installing a steam room Special attention pay attention to where it goes electrical wiring. It is worth laying a cable with a safety circuit breaker from the distribution panel. But sockets and distributors inside the sauna should be abandoned for safety reasons. For lighting in the steam room, closed spotlights are used, for example, IP54 class devices with protection from water.

Read the instructions for the lamp - the operating temperature must be specified at least 120 C. To prevent the light from shining into the eyes and disturbing the person sitting, mount the lamps in the corner on the back wall. In stores you can find all kinds of wooden lampshades - they will fit perfectly into the design of the sauna room.

Finishing work inside the sauna

The best material for finishing the steam room is larch, linden, poplar or aspen. It is best to avoid using excessively resinous wood, as resin can be released from the wood at particularly high temperatures and create an overly strong odor.

Depending on what type of sauna you choose (corner or wall-mounted), it is important to rationally plan the location of the seats and stove. A compact steam room on a balcony is usually designed for 2 people, and the shelves will be small - the width of the balcony. To build 2 tiers, the beams are attached to the floor and to each other, and then seating areas are created with minimum distance between them – 50 cm.

After fixing, all surfaces are sanded and coated with a solution to prevent swelling from moisture and drying from excessively high temperatures. Steam room doors can be made of wood or heat-resistant glass. To save space, doors must open outward. And you should not use a lock on the door, because if a person becomes ill in the sauna, access to it should be open. And one more important nuance: Be sure to cover all screws in the steam room with wood caps. This will help you avoid possible burns from hot metal.

The balcony or loggia in our apartments can be used in different ways. Some, without much trouble, turn this area into a storage area for unnecessary things, others make it out of a balcony cozy room for relax. There are vegetable lovers who turn loggias into mini-vegetable gardens or citrus gardens, but there are also more exotic options, for example, how do you like a sauna on the balcony?

This use of the balcony gives you the opportunity to have fun at any time convenient for you. Moreover, the free space is used very rationally. Is it possible to make all this a reality? If yes, what is needed for this?

Arrangement of a sauna on the balcony: what difficulties await you

If you want to make a sauna on your balcony, then you should think about how to do it correctly and what is needed for this. But first you need to understand whether it is possible to turn your plans into reality. It turns out that this is quite possible. You can order a design from the manufacturer; of course, the dimensions of such a sauna are very modest, but many companies work with such orders. Some manufacturers offer ready-made mini-saunas. The width of such structures does not exceed eighty centimeters, and the height is about two meters. These dimensions are quite suitable for any balcony or loggia.

There is a second option - you can make a sauna on the balcony yourself. This requires some skills, but in the end you will get exactly what you had in mind. With your own hands you will make your dreams come true. However, it is worth noting that both the construction itself and the further operation of such a sauna will impose some restrictions. For example, when constructing a structure, you need to use only light building materials. A balcony is a place that is not designed for heavy loads, so you need to forget about concrete and brick.

Photo 2. Wooden steam room design

You will also need to limit some functions of the sauna itself. It is difficult to install water and sewerage on the balcony, for this reason you can only steam in it. But if you want to take a dip, you will have to run to the bathroom. On the balcony water treatments contraindicated. You don't want to flood your neighbors below, do you?

Where to begin

The very first thing is to prepare the balcony or loggia itself. It is necessary not only to do glazing and insulation, but also to carry out some other work. All this for the sake of their neighbors, because if they constantly hear suspicious noise coming from the neighboring balcony, then they may not like it, which means they need to carry out soundproofing. If you have insulated your balcony, then thermal insulation material will already be able to drown out the noise, but it’s still better to be on the safe side.

Also, the neighbors below may not like the water drips coming from your mini-sauna, so waterproofing must be done especially carefully. You shouldn’t save on this if you don’t want to quarrel with your neighbors. Once the balcony is finished, you need to prepare required material and equipment. Here is a small list of what you will definitely need:

  • wooden panels (they should be easy to assemble and disassemble, because you will transfer them to the balcony with your own hands);
  • electric stove (it must be hot in the sauna, which means you can’t do without a heat source);
  • a box with stones (no sauna is complete without them).

TO wooden shields special requirements apply. The first thing you need is the type of wood. Spruce, pine, aspen or linden are suitable for a sauna. Also, all boards must be carefully prepared. The humidity in them should not be more than ten percent. The entire surface must be sanded. In addition, the boards must be coated with a special antifungal agent.

Then you can begin construction. You need to start from the floor. It's already insulated, so we need to start finishing it. The best floor for a sauna is wooden, so it is advisable to cover the surface under the structure with floorboards.

When it comes to the walls, you need to assemble a box from timber with your own hands. It should be installed close to the walls. The beam itself should be 50x50 mm in size. The outside of the box is lined with plywood; this must be done, since the walls in our houses do not have the correct geometry, and besides, this will help retain heat inside the structure.

Photo 3. Installation of the future steam room box

The next stage is insulating the box from the inside. This can be done using mineral wool. The layer of such insulation should be thick enough, because the rate of heating of the air inside the steam room will depend on this. The choice of mineral wool is determined by several parameters: firstly, such thermal insulation material is cheaper, and secondly, it is impossible to use polystyrene foam or other non-natural insulation in a steam room, they do not tolerate strong heat. Unnatural insulation will begin to melt and release toxic gases, as a result, instead of improving your health, you will get harm to your health due to harmful gases.

Photo 4. Insulating the box from the inside

Next, the entire internal area of the future sauna needs to be covered with aluminum foil. This must be done everywhere, otherwise the heat will easily evaporate even through a thick layer of insulation. This coating is able to retain up to ninety-eight percent infrared heat. Attach the foil itself aluminum tape.

Photo 5. Lining the body with foil from the inside

The next step will be finishing internal space clapboard. This is not difficult to do with your own hands, you just need to be careful, because the lining will lie on a layer of foil, and it is very easy to tear it. The lining itself must be made of hardwood wood, you can use coniferous boards devoid of resin. The latter breed has a very bad effect on the body when heated.

Photo 6. Lining the sauna box with clapboard from the inside

To avoid getting burned on heated nails while taking a steam bath, they need to be deepened into the lining, or better yet, all the heads should be closed. decorative panels which will improve appearance. After this, you can proceed to the shelf. This design must support the weight of two people, so it is advisable to make separate racks for the shelf. They are covered with boards five centimeters thick.

To ensure normal circulation of hot air in the sauna, the shelf itself must not be made solid. Leave a gap of one and a half centimeters between the boards. It is also advisable to round the edges of the boards, this will also be safe, you will not hit the sharp edges.

The material for the shelf is poplar, aspen or linden wood. But the most best option– Abashi. This African tree is ideal for saunas and contains no resin. Of course, such wood is quite expensive, but its quality is excellent.

Photo 7. Stages of constructing a shelf in a sauna

Sauna arrangement

In principle, the sauna structure itself is ready, all that remains is interior design. Let's start, of course, with the stove. Here you need to take into account all safety requirements. Firstly, this is electrical safety. Invite an electrician and install a separate socket with a 25-amp circuit breaker on the balcony. The cable itself to the stove must also be well insulated, because the electrical equipment will be used in damp place, and, as you know, current and water are two incompatible things.

Secondly, all fire safety measures must be observed. When installing a stove-heater, observe all the necessary distances from the walls. The walls of the sauna themselves are near heating element finish with an additional layer of asbestos cardboard. This way they definitely won't catch fire.

Photo 8. Arranging a sauna on the balcony

In addition, you need to remember one more safety measure - the door in the steam room should open outward, in adjacent room. Also, it should not be equipped with latches or hooks. This requirement is necessary to save a person in the steam room if he suddenly becomes ill.

If you are not going to sit in the steam room in complete darkness, you should take care of an artificial light source. The lamp must be selected carefully, it must be easy to carry high temperatures(and in the steam room they can reach one hundred and twenty degrees), and must also have good waterproofing. It is better to purchase special lamps for steam rooms.

It is better to install the lamps themselves behind the shelf. This way the light will not blind the person taking a steam bath. For beauty and light diffusion, you can cover the devices wooden lampshades.

Don't forget about ventilation. The intake grille must be installed near the stove, and a valve must be mounted on the opposite side. This way you can easily regulate the flow of fresh air. Well, of course, you can install a thermometer and a clock to monitor how long and at what temperature you steamed. Sauna on own balcony– this is not fantasy. It is quite possible to do it yourself, the main thing is to do everything according to the rules.

For most of us, a sauna on the balcony seems like something dangerous and incredibly difficult to implement. Bath experts, on the contrary, based on existing experience in implementing such solutions, recommend converting balconies and loggias into steam rooms. While for others the balcony plays the role of a “dumping ground” for Plyushkin’s attributes, modern steam lovers invest very little money and their whole soul into their own mini-sauna. How to translate such an idea into reality and what approximate price question - about this in our material.

Arguments for a sauna on the balcony

Experts in the field of bath culture and interior designers note: a sauna on the balcony is truly a real breakthrough, a real solution for those who do not have country house, dachas. Steamed and off to the shower! And so on with the whole family! Every week!

The main condition for a good and safe sauna in an apartment is decent insulation and working electrics. If you approach the process wisely and calculatedly, your dream will come true!

Why a sauna?

It is customary to equip apartments with saunas. With bathhouses, everything is much more complicated - here you need to supply water to the balcony, build a drain, the risks are great... A small cabin 80 by 220 cm is an excellent way out of the situation. A stove-heater is purchased for it, and the inside of the cabin is lined with wood. Another important point— this is an insulated balcony and its reliability. Options in dilapidated and old houses should not be considered.

Sauna design on the balcony

The most popular upholstery material for steam rooms is considered to be hardwood: aspen, linden, alder, abash, etc. Those who love authenticity and a pleasant pine smell choose pine, spruce, and cedar.

As for zoning the space, you should not separate the sauna and the balcony - it should be a single room. The equipment begins with insulating the balcony with mineral wool, which does not burn or melt, unlike the same polystyrene foam or penoplex. Insulation is laid on both sides of the insulation (in most cases, penofol is chosen). It is better to put two layers of insulation on the ceiling to avoid problems with neighbors above.

The next step is the frame for the sauna. It is recommended to cover the side walls of the resulting box with plywood. The classic cabin for the balcony is 2.2 meters high and 0.8 meters long and wide. If the “box” is made too low, it will be very hot in it, and if you save on width, then barely one person will fit there.
The sauna cabin also needs to be insulated with mineral wool. Foil is placed on top of it, the walls and ceiling are sheathed with clapboard.

A shelf is installed inside the sauna using boards with rounded edges, and then a stove-heater is installed. A ventilation valve and grille are installed in the ceiling (ventilation must go outside), an electrician must lay the wiring for lighting. For wiring, it is recommended to use a fire-resistant type cable, and it must be laid strictly in a metal sleeve.

A proven version of a steam room on a balcony is a ready-made sauna, which is sold disassembled in specialized stores.

Safety rules in the sauna on the balcony

Opponents of steam rooms often blame these “know-how” for the lack of safety guarantees. And this is true if the steam room is installed by an amateur, and during its operation safety rules are violated. But there are a number of rules, following which you can protect yourself from unforeseen situations with a steam room on the balcony. Here are the main ones:

  • Trust the mission of installing electrics and sauna equipment only to professionals. You can control the process yourself, but do not perform the work, guided only by theory;
  • the wall of the steam room should not border on the street. The outer walls of the cabin must be adjacent to the insulated layer of the balcony;
  • Do not run wires inside the steam room. It is recommended to install a separate socket on the balcony for the heater stove. Not the one that leads to a general circuit breaker, but to a separate one - 25A, for example. To ensure this, this cable should be routed through a residual current device;
  • the heater must be (!) isolated from plasterboard walls and wooden floors. Heat-resistant and fire-resistant material is selected as insulation;
  • a special lamp with increased heat resistance must be installed in the booth and high level moisture protection IP54;
  • After each use of the sauna on the balcony, it is recommended to thoroughly ventilate and dry it.

Balcony sauna: price issue

A finished sauna with a stove and all accessories will cost about 80,000 rubles. Mini-saunas are cheaper, namely from 10,000 rubles and above. Expensive options for ready-made steam rooms for loggias cost about 500,000 rubles, and not every family living in an apartment can afford them. If you equip a steam room yourself, you can spend 60,000 rubles.

In any case, you need to make a decision about arranging a sauna on the balcony together with professionals who will help you install the steam room and do the maximum for your comfort and safety!
