Pen - necessary element door fittings designed for convenient door opening. Practicality door design largely depends on the external aesthetic appearance, design features and functionality of this accessory. With constant use of the door, the handle, regardless of the material and type, often becomes unusable: it wears out and breaks. Therefore, in case of any problems, it must be repaired or replaced with another one. In order not to call a specialist, you can perform this procedure yourself.

Brief instructions about how to disassemble door handle, will acquaint the reader with this a simple process.

According to the installation method, there are 2 types of handles:

  • invoices;
  • mortise

Overlay fittings are installed on the door leaf using a strip; for a mortise design, there must be a hole in the door.

By purpose there are:

  1. input;
  2. interior.

Based on functionality, door products are divided into 2 types:

  • movable;
  • stationary.

Movable handles are available in 2 versions:

  1. rotary (knobs and buttons);
  2. push.

The analysis of a door handle depends on its type and design features.

Design features

Stationary handles are produced without latches or locks. The fastening elements to the door block are screws or self-tapping screws. Such fixed structures are decorative in nature and serve solely for the movement of the door. They can be 1-sided or 2-sided different shapes, connected by an axial element. They are installed on interior or plastic balcony door blocks, rarely on entrance ones.

Pressure products are 2 L-shaped levers, which are connected by a rod passing through the door block. In such a device, when turning, the halyard tongue enters the inside of the door and locks it. Using the elements, external and interior doors.

The main advantage of the model is its reliability. The failure rate of push mechanisms is much lower than others.

Swivel mechanism Most often they are made in the form of a ball or button with a diameter of 50-60 mm with a lock located in the center of the round handle. The keyhole can have a 2-way exit or 1-way with a latch. The door opens with a simple twist. Such fittings may also contain a door opening blocker. Therefore, they are often used in bathroom door designs and interior blocks, and are also called knob handles.

They are compact, easy to install, and low in price, but have disadvantages such as low strength and fragility due to jamming of spare parts inside the mechanism.

Rotary and push products differ in the shape and method of opening the latch.

Components of the mechanism

Pivot and push door products for interior doors have the following spare parts and components:

  • latch;
  • strip or socket;
  • decorative flange;
  • fasteners;
  • special key for squeezing and removing the mechanism.

The door hardware kit with keyhole is supplied with keys.

Required Tools

In order to remove the interior door handle, you need to prepare the following tools:

  1. drill;
  2. feather drill;
  3. cutter;
  4. flat screwdriver or screwdriver;
  5. roulette;
  6. marker;
  7. chisel;
  8. hammer.

How to remove

Removing door hardware is not a problem if you have necessary tools and minimal theoretical knowledge on the structure of the mechanism. You can remove the door handle of an interior door yourself without calling a technician. To do this, you must follow the instructions:

  • Support and secure the door.
  • Pry the decorative flange with a knife and pull it out a little. Underneath there are fasteners that need to be unscrewed.
  • There is a spring-loaded locking pin on the decorative flange of the pressure device. Press it in with a screwdriver. In rotary models, the pin is located inside the body. In order to get to it, insert a key or awl through the technological flange hole. If the pin cannot be felt, rotate the flange until it contacts it.
  • Press the pin while pulling the door device.
  • Unscrew the mounting screws.
  • Separate the inside of the door element from the outside, remove the handle and decorative flange.
  • If you need to remove the latch and replace or repair it, remove the screws securing it to the side door block, remove the bar, then the mechanism.

When installing accessories to another location, you should not disassemble them for spare parts. It is attached to the door structure in the reverse order. If the handle or latch needs to be repaired or replaced, further disassembly is performed.

How to disassemble a door handle

Replacing a door handle is carried out for the purpose of repairing it due to breakdowns, wear, in the presence of abrasions, scratches, to improve appearance, as well as when completely replacing the door block.

Before starting work, the type of mechanism and its features are established, because some models with simple device are easy to disassemble, and some have more complex elements, such as latches with locks. Carrying out such work is difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to consider replacing each type of door hardware separately.

Round

To disassemble a round door handle or knob handle, you must follow these recommendations:

  1. Using a tool at hand, hook up a decorative flange or trim with a simple keyless rotary lock.
  2. Use an awl, nail or special key to press the opened stopper.
  3. At the same time, carefully pull out the handle and remove it.
  4. From the side of the removed part, unscrew the bolts from the mounting plate and disconnect it from door leaf.
  5. Unfasten the cylindrical mechanism, the latch.
  6. Remove the screws and detach the tab.

If there is no need to change, it is rearranged. It happens like this:

  • Insert the latch so that the beveled part of the tongue faces the direction the door closes.
  • Fasten with 2 screws.
  • Insert the piece of hardware with the key drum on the other side of the door structure.
  • Attach the clamping part and secure with 2 screws.
  • The handle should turn without jamming and return freely to its normal state.
  • Correct it. To do this, you need to carefully hold one side and align the other.
  • Attach decorative overlay.
  • Insert the rest of the handle.

The accuracy of installation and operation is checked both from the latch itself and from the drum device with the key.

Stationary

The stationary product has simple design, is attached to the door with screws. Therefore, it rarely breaks, and is removed only when it is necessary to exchange it for a more functional model.

To unscrew the fittings for an interior door, you need to do the following:

  1. Inspect the door mechanism for the presence of an axle rod. To do this, hold the handle with one hand and turn it with the other.
  2. If the mechanism is located on a rod, remove one supporting side, the second comes off on its own.
  3. If the rod is not found in the handle, use flat screwdriver Unscrew the screws holding the handle.
  4. Remove it by gently pulling it towards you.

When unscrewing the mechanism, you must carefully hold it with your hand so that after removing the connecting screws, part of the product does not fall out of the connector and is damaged.

For interior doors

In the pressing device, the process of disassembling it causes difficulties. This is due to the fact that the fittings are attached to the axial rod and tightened with a 4-sided joint.

To repair the handle of an interior door, disassembling the push mechanism is carried out in 3 stages:

  1. Remove the screws that hold the cover in place and remove the plugs.
  2. Then you need to loosen the fixation of the rod and separate the 4-sided square.
  3. Remove the cover plate on the other side, the remaining part of the mechanism and the axial rod. After removing the parts, you need to pull the handle towards you.

The pressure product is ready for replacement or repair.

How to fix a pen

Door handle repairs are often carried out in the following cases:

  • the mechanism does not return to its original position;
  • the handle jams and is difficult to turn;
  • The tongue does not move when turning or pressing the device;
  • the handle falls out without damaging the base.

Often the cause of these problems is wear and tear of the part during constant use. Therefore, it is periodically necessary to lubricate the mechanism parts and the keyhole, and clean them from dust and dirt. When lubricating, the door product is rotated so that the viscous liquid is evenly distributed among the elements.

If the handle is loose, it is necessary to correct and tighten the fasteners.

Sometimes it is necessary to repair fittings in metal Chinese door. Products made in China from silumin malfunction and break, and installing a lock on such a door is not easy. Simpler mechanism replace. The principle of operation is similar to replacing an element in interior doors.

In the interior

In door handles for interior doors, repairs are most often made when the handle falls off. The base remains attached.

The reason is the use of low-quality fittings, as a result of which the locking ring could break or fall off.

To carry out repair work, perform the following steps:

  1. Unfasten the base from the door.
  2. Inspect the retaining ring. If it has moved, you need to adjust its position and install it. If the ring bursts or breaks, it is replaced with further installation of the handle.

The duration of the procedure is 15-20 minutes.

Repair of the door handle of an interior door is carried out if, after opening the doors, the fittings do not return to their normal position.

The cause of the malfunction is a broken or displaced spiral.

To replace the spiral, carry out the following work:

  • remove the device;
  • unfasten the damaged part and replace it;
  • secure with a locking ring at the top;
  • install the mechanism.

If the spring breaks, you can make it yourself from a small piece of steel wire. Pre-wind it, heat it over the fire until it turns bright red and put it in cold water.

Lock removal and repair

Repairing interior door locks is difficult. The causes of malfunctions are different.

When using cheap, low-quality silumin door fittings, the 4-sided pin may break. The solution to the problem is to purchase a steel mechanism from trusted manufacturers and completely replace it.

A common problem with locks is the tongue not working properly. This is possible with a short pin. The square can move in the direction of the latch, pressing it, reducing operation.

Repair work locks are carried out in this way:

  1. A long pin is purchased and the length is measured.
  2. Using a grinder, it is shortened to the required size.
  3. Then you need to disassemble the interior door lock.
  4. The square is changed, door fittings are installed.

When installing the handle, the base must cover all the holes that remain from the previous mechanism.

A lock with a handle can be replaced or repaired even by a novice master who knows how to use available tools.

A Chinese iron door is an economical and even quite attractive solution. But there are many questions about its quality. Starting from the main material (metal sheet), which is easy to cut with a regular can opener, and ending with the supplied fittings. And one of typical problems problem that owners of Chinese doors face - the handle of the Chinese door has broken iron door. This will be discussed further.

So, what can you do in this case?

The first is to completely replace the lock along with all components. The most expensive and not the most easy way, but reliable.

The second is to find exactly the same set of handles with decorative frames. Finding them is difficult, but possible. At the same time, the price of the issue is about 600 rubles.

The third is replacing the Chinese door handle. This is the most cheap option, since a suitable set of handles can be found for 200 rubles. But you'll have to tinker. This is the option we will consider.

Replacement of Chinese iron door handle

If the handle of a Chinese door breaks, then we start by unscrewing the screws that secure the decorative frame of the lock.

Next, simply remove the frame with all its contents, including the broken handle.

Next, we disassemble the spring mechanism of the handle. the main problem may occur with the clamping washer. Without fear that it will break or burst, we bend it using a small flat-head screwdriver.

All! The frame was disassembled, the broken handle was removed.

The frame can be put back in place, but a piece of the handle will be needed for going to the store. Based on it, or rather based on its mounting, we will choose a new one. And the frame is put in place so that the door can be closed.

After a set of handles has been purchased (sold only in sets), we install one handle instead of the damaged one, or both at once. We proceed in reverse order.

And at the end we install the decorative frame of the lock along with a new handle on the door.

The specificity of the locking device (regardless of the type) is that its maintenance-free operation is designed for a certain period, the duration of which depends on the number of closing/opening cycles, that is, the intensity of use. Judging by the reviews on furniture forums, home craftsmen most often have to deal with the problem of a broken front door handle and decide how to fix it. If you understand the varieties of these fittings and the design of the samples, then repairing any of them will not cause any difficulties.

Stationary handle

Such samples are practically not installed at the entrance to residential buildings, except perhaps on the entrance doors. Their household use– on the doors of blocks mounted in the openings of utility rooms, garages, sheds and the like. Therefore, there are two types of breakdown of this type of fittings. Repairing a door handle of this type is the easiest and fastest.

  • Mechanical damage. This could be deformation (bending), a crack, a chip, or destruction of the metal - it doesn’t matter. The only recommendation is to change it; These handles cannot be repaired.
  • The fixing elements are loose. The fittings on the entrance doors are attached in different ways. And if the handle itself is intact, then you just need to tighten the self-tapping screw (screw, bolt) or replace the nail, taking an analogue with a thicker leg.

Lever handle

The most common locking devices installed on canvases entrance doors. Before starting repairs, it is necessary to diagnose the mechanism. Then it will become clear how to repair the handle and whether it is possible in principle. In some cases, it will not be possible to repair it - just replace it.

A typical situation is that the fittings fall out of the way when you try to press them. seat and remains in your hand. As a rule, this is typical for relatively cheap locking devices (made in China). In the production of such samples, mainly brass, aluminum or low-quality steel is used. They do not last long, since the destruction of the material during intensive use occurs quite quickly. There is no way to fix anything; you will have to remove the entire mechanism and install a new one.

In all other cases, repairing the door handles of entrance doors is quite possible and will not cause any particular difficulties.

Design Features

Knowing the structure of the lock, it is easier to determine the cause of the malfunction and how to eliminate it. The door handle is connected to the fastening plate by a movable mechanism. The fittings are connected directly to the latch using a rod that is inserted into the groove. It has a square cross-section, and when you turn the handle, the device is triggered and the tongue moves.

Its return to its original position is ensured by a spring, which is fixed with one end on the fittings and the other on the locking plate. It turns out that the design of the door handle mechanism is such that there is practically nothing to break in it; the circle of “suspects” is limited.

Repairing the handle of a push-type interior door is no different from restoring the functionality of analogues installed on entrance doors. All technological operations, as well as typical faults, are completely identical. The only difference is in the nuances determined by the type of locking mechanism (mortise or overhead) and its model (manufacturer).

Removing the locking device

  • On both sides of the sash there are fastening strips connected by long screws. Depending on the lock model, there may be 2 or 4 of them. The latter is typical for handles installed on frame doors. The task is to unscrew the hardware and remove them from the mounting sockets.

  • All that remains is to remove the locking mechanism. If he has decorative strip, then you will first have to unscrew the small screw that secures the handle. After this (rotating counterclockwise) the cover is removed.

Troubleshooting and repair

One end of the spring flew off its seat. This becomes clear even without disassembling the fittings; with such a defect, after pressing the handle does not return to its original position. It's easy to fix - hook the spring and check the mechanism in operation. But if the part is broken, then it is useless to repair. Firstly, we still need to find it, with the same linear parameters. Secondly, its tensile force must be identical, otherwise the operation of the lock will cause a lot of inconvenience. For example, the tongue will not be completely recessed into the sash, constantly clinging to the bar. In this case, it is advisable to install a new lock.

When purchasing a handle for a metal door, you need to look at the location of the holes in the strip for fasteners. It is unlikely that anyone will be happy with the prospect of drilling a steel sheet if it turns out that the old sockets for fixing the lock are not suitable.

There is no tongue displacement. This mechanism malfunction is caused by several reasons.

Option 1 – the handle itself has become loose. This is mainly typical for samples made of soft metals (alloys). The edges of its groove gradually flare out, and the reliability of the coupling with the rod is lost. There are two ways to solve the problem. First (temporary, for the search period new fittings) – seal the gap between the “square” and the groove in the handle. The second is to replace the part. Pens are sold at retail, and you can choose a product of any configuration you like. The main thing is that the landing “socket” is identical in size for reliable docking with the latch mechanism.

Option 2 – pin damage. As a rule, cheap locks have rods made of silumin, but this alloy is no different in strength. It’s easy to buy such a part, cut it to length, file the ends and install it in place.

The handle periodically falls out, but there is no destruction of the metal. The only reason is that the retaining ring is loose or broken. If it bursts, fragments will fall out immediately after dismantling the mechanism. This is the worst scenario - such a lock will have to be changed. If the latch is simply loose, you can try to tighten it. This does not always work out, especially if the steel High Quality; it springs easily. But there are no other repair options in such a situation. If the result is positive, the lock will still serve for some time.

And one last thing. Do not forget that any mechanism, including the door handle, needs periodic inspection and maintenance. If you partially disassemble the lock in a timely manner and lubricate the rubbing parts, regularly tighten the fasteners, then there will be no problems with its breakage for a long time will not be.

It turns out that knowing the locking device and having only a couple of screwdrivers on hand, it is not difficult to understand how to repair the door handle of an interior or entrance door. But if you need to replace some part or the entire mechanism, it is better to take the faulty sample with you when going to the store. You need to purchase an analogue “one to one”, otherwise it is not a fact that it will fit in size, thickness, configuration, and so on.

When operating any door, the greatest load is taken by the fittings, and especially the handle. Therefore, situations often arise when it needs to be replaced: breakdowns, loss of presentable appearance, the need to install more comfortable model. In most cases, replacing a door handle can be done at home.

Classification of door handle designs

Depending on the type of door, type of handle and set of functions, door handles have the following varieties:

  • Handles for sliding doors are completely different from other models - they are recessed into the door leaf.
  • Handles for metal doors have one difference from handles with a lock - the presence plastic gaskets to protect the mechanism.

Sequence of work when replacing door handles

If you can’t afford a broken door handle or you just want to install a model of a different design, you need a replacement. Below are instructions on how to change the handles for different types doors.

Replacing the stationary handle

If the handle is an overhead type, use a screwdriver to remove the fastening elements, remove the old one and install new pen, fasten the fasteners. Through handles are also very easy to change: unscrew the handles, remove the threaded rod and install the new model in the reverse order.

Replacing the latch handle

The replacement process looks like this:

  1. We install the decorative trim and the second handle, tighten the locking screw.
  2. We fasten the counter plate with self-tapping screws.

Replacing the lock handle

Removing and replacing the handle door lock is done in exactly the same way as replacing the latch handle. You just need to take into account some nuances:

If the body of the new lock is wider and touches the walls of the groove, you need to widen it slightly with a chisel in in the right places. This is easy to do by lubricating the lock with chalk and inserting it into the groove: the chalk will leave marks in the places of contact.

  • The recess at the end under the front strip may also vary slightly in size. You can adjust it using a stationery knife.
  • If the hole for the lock cylinder does not fit, insert the case into place and trace with a pencil the places covering the hole for the lock in the case. After this, carefully remove the excess.
  • If necessary, we also adjust the counter hole.
  • After this, we install the lock body, handles with a decorative overlay, and the strike plate in turn. You can view the process of replacing a lock with a handle in more detail in the video.

Change the handle to plastic door very simple:

Usually a one-way handle is placed on the balcony, and a shell is mounted on the street side, with which you can simply close the door. But sometimes it becomes necessary to install a structure that allows the door to be tightly closed from the street side. Below are instructions on how to replace a regular pen with a double-sided one:

  1. We remove the old handles. To remove the shell, just unscrew two small screws.
  2. We move the hole for the square to the outside of the door. To do this, first take a drill with a diameter of 5 mm and insert it into big hole With inside doors and drill right through. After that, take a drill for 10 and s outside drill out the resulting hole to required diameter. This must be done in such a way as not to damage square hole internal fittings.
  3. We insert the outer handle into the finished hole and mark the locations for the mounting screws. We drill holes with a diameter of 10 mm.
  4. Installing handles. While tightening the screws, hold the outer handle with your hand. During installation, we place the handles in the “open” position.

The square and mounting screws are usually made with a margin, so if necessary, they need to be trimmed with a grinder.

The following video will help you familiarize yourself with the process in more detail and taking into account all the nuances.

Replacing a metal door handle

First of all, you need to choose a suitable new pen. After that, let's get to work:

When the handle comes only with a lock, it will be required completely.

If you choose high-quality fittings when installing doors famous manufacturers, replacing the door handle may not be necessary very soon.

Plastic windows - not so much simple products, as it may seem. All sash positions are controlled using just one handle, which transmits forces to numerous transmission mechanisms of the fittings. It’s no wonder that the handle of a plastic window is the first to fail, because it is constantly pulled, turned, twisted. But problems can occur immediately after installing the windows if they are not adjusted precisely enough or have a manufacturing defect. Although there may be other reasons. If you install plastic windows in compliance with all technologies and nuances, and then use them carefully, they can last long years without the need for repairs. But if, nevertheless, the handle for the plastic window breaks, or it is jammed in some position, or it does not turn, or does not turn completely, then do not despair, you can fix this problem yourself. In this article we will talk about how to disassemble the handle of a plastic window, how to adjust it, repair it or replace it with a new one without the help of specialists. To do this, you will need straight arms, a 4 mm L-shaped hex key, a Phillips screwdriver and a quick-witted head on your shoulders.

The handle of the plastic window is stuck in the “closed” position, and the window sash does not close

It is quite possible that you have encountered such a problem - the window handle is in a position that absolutely does not correspond to the position of the sash, and it is impossible to turn the handle - it is jammed. For example, the sash may be open, but the handle is in the “closed” position. You are just about to close the window, but it doesn’t work because it’s impossible to turn the handle. What to do? First of all, you should not pull the handle too hard, this will not bring a positive result. The reason for the jamming of the plastic window handle is that it did not work in a timely manner blocker.

Almost everything modern windows equipped with a special lock that blocks the handle from turning. This was done for a good purpose - so that you do not accidentally break the window. When you turn the handle to the folding position (the handle faces up) or to the rotary position (the handle is horizontal), the lock is activated and prevents the handle from inadvertently turning. It happens that the blocker does not work in a timely manner. Most often this happens if you move the position of the handle too quickly. How to repair the handle of a plastic window in this case? First of all, it is necessary to determine the manufacturer of the accessories; the method of disabling the blocker will depend on this.

The name of the fittings can be found on any metal part of the window. This is easy to do if the sash is in open position. Most often, the name is located in the area of the handle, on the end of the sash.

If you have “AUBI” fittings: To disable the lock, the leaf must be in a vertical position. If it is in the tilt-and-turn position, the lock located on the top hinge will also prevent the handle from turning. Therefore, we move the sash to a vertical position, then in the area of the handle on the end of the sash we find a plate with a spring. It must be pressed against the seal, and then the handle must be turned to the position characteristic of the sash.

If you have fittings “Maco”, “Roto”, “GU”, “Winkhaus”: also in the area of the handle on the sash we find a metal plate, which is not located vertically, but is located at an angle to the frame and sash. It is necessary to press on it so that it becomes parallel to the frame, i.e. strictly vertically, then turn the handle to the desired position.

If, when you try to close the window, you still cannot turn the handle, then you should check whether the lock is in contact with the response mechanism. A situation is possible when the blocker slips past without catching on the mechanism. The reason is thermal expansion.

If you notice that the lock is “slipping,” then you need to open the sash, find the response mechanism, unscrew the screws that secure it to the frame, then remove it, put something between it and the frame and screw it into place. You can use a piece of thin plastic as a lining. As a result, the response mechanism must be located further from the frame, and the lock must engage with it. Let's try closing the window again. If it works, then the repair is complete.

Nuances of Winkhaus fittings: some window models with this fitting are equipped only with a lock located on the scissors of the tilt-and-turn mechanism. During operation, this blocker wears out as a result of constant friction, so over time it may fail. This is characterized by the fact that the handle can only be turned to the “open” position (horizontal) or to the swing-out position for ventilation (handle up). In such a situation, you should not try to close the window and turn the handle with great effort. The main lock gear may break. This is the case when it is better to entrust repairs to professionals, especially if the windows are still under warranty. If you intend to solve the problem yourself, you will have to remove the window sash.

On the top hinge of the sash, you need to remove the decorative trim, then pull out the pin holding the sash in the frame. A screwdriver and pliers are used for this. Carefully remove the sash from its hinges, place it on the floor and remove the scissors. To remove the scissors, you need to unscrew the screws that secure them. We remove the blocker and install the scissors back.

If all the above procedures do not help, do not be zealous, contact professionals.

The handle of the plastic window does not turn or does not turn completely

Another problem is when the handle of a plastic window does not close; when you try to close the window, the handle does not turn all the way. Moreover, if you open the window and try to turn the handle to the “closed” position, having first disconnected/pressed the lock, the handle turns easily. There may be two reasons for this problem.

First - The grease in the fittings has dried out. As already mentioned, the operation of the window is ensured by many transmission mechanisms, so their movement should be easy and smooth. If the lubricant in the fittings has dried out, or dirt has gotten into it, then its operation is disrupted. If the reason is only lubrication, then you can repair the handle of a plastic window yourself. To do this, you will need a lubricant: either a universal lubricant or a special lubricant for plastic windows, or, as a last resort, WD-40 lubricant will do.

It must be poured into all movable elements of the fittings; this can be done through the holes, including in the upper part of the fittings. Then you need to turn the handle first to one position, then to another, so the fittings will move and distribute the lubricant over its surface. If the reason is only lubrication, then this should be enough. If the reason is dirt that has clogged up under the fittings, then it is better to invite a specialist, since you will have to remove all the fittings from the window and wash them in a special bath.

Second - sash sagging. This may not be noticeable to the naked eye, but even one millimeter will be enough to prevent the handle from moving to the “closed” position.

Sash position "up and down" can be changed using adjusting screws. Needs to be removed decorative plug from the bottom sash of a plastic window. There is a hole at the top of the hinge mechanism for a 4mm hex key.

We insert the L-shaped key into the adjustment groove and turn it. If you turn it clockwise, the sash will rise, if counterclockwise, it will lower. Each time, making several turns, we try to close the sash. In some types of fittings, the adjustment groove is located on the front surface of the hinge (as in the photo).

The sash can also be adjusted in a horizontal position - “left-right”. Usually the upper and lower parts of the sash are adjusted separately.

The lower part - using the lower loop. If you open the door and look at lateral surface bottom hinge, the adjustment groove will also be visible on it. We insert a 5 mm hexagon into it and turn it. Clockwise - the leaf moves to the left, counterclockwise - to the right.

The upper part of the sash is adjusted by a mechanism located on the sash itself - at the top. To make adjustments, the sash also needs to be opened, almost wide open. At the back, almost at the very top, there will be an adjustment groove. We insert a hexagon into it and turn it.

The plastic window handle is loose

It happens that the handle of a plastic window simply becomes loose. It scrolls to all positions, but nothing changes. The reason is most likely that the handle mount has become loose and the handle mechanism does not engage with the fitting mechanism. This problem can be solved very easily.

The handle of a plastic window is adjusted using two screws with which it is screwed to the sash. On the sash directly under the handle there is decorative element- stub ( rectangular shape). You need to carefully pry it with your hands, pulling it towards you, and then turn it 90 degrees. Those. The plug must be placed horizontally.

You will see two mounting screws - one on top of the handle, the other on the bottom. They need to be tightened using a Phillips screwdriver.

The handle on a plastic window is broken - replacing the handle

This situation is rare, but it does happen: the handle can crack, break, or simply become unusable from old age. In this case, you will need to replace the handle on the plastic window. There is another reason to change the “original” handle, even if it is working properly - the need to install a handle with a lock. When there are small children in the house and parents want to make sure that the child cannot open the window or door to the balcony on his own, then special handles with locks are installed.

To remove the handle from the plastic window, you need to unscrew the two screws discussed above. But first you need to open the sash so that the handle is in the “open” position. Once the screws are removed, you need to remove them and then carefully remove the handle.

You can buy a new handle at the construction market or at a construction supermarket, as well as at a company that produces plastic windows. In addition to regular handles, you can purchase a handle with a lock and even a “comb” that limits the opening of the window.

The handle is installed on a plastic window using the same screws that held the previous one, although new ones can be used. If you plan to install an opening limiter, then insert the regulator plate (“comb”) into the base of the handle. Then the handle pin is inserted into the hole, and the handle itself is screwed on.

Choosing a handle for plastic windows

Handles for plastic windows are produced not only by the same companies that produce fittings. For example, you can buy a pen made in China, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Poland and other countries.
