I wish everyone good luck and a great mood!!

In those minutes or hours when the forces of nature are raging outside the window, be it rain or heavy snowfall, you want a warm, sincere and cozy atmosphere. As an option, immerse yourself in reading your favorite book, have a tea party with a pleasant interlocutor. You can also do some crafts, for example, building a frame for a lampshade with your own hands.

Those people who have a developed creative imagination will like this activity, because this is a way to show all their abilities. In addition, decorating your own home will only bring benefits, giving it a bit of charm and sophistication.

A number of advantages of independent work

When you make any crafts with your own hands, this implies the presence of certain advantages over finished products. Moreover, you can make any lampshade for a specific lamp with your own hands.

So, these advantages should be taken into account if there is a need to choose between purchasing ready-made solution or make a hanging frame for a lampshade with your own hands. And there are many of them:

  1. First of all, this is an opportunity to end up with an exclusive lampshade.
  2. The master has at his disposal a much wider range of decorative designs than store-bought products can offer.
  3. In some cases, cost savings cannot be ruled out, and significant ones at that.
  4. Involving children in the process will allow them to develop skills and Creative skills which will benefit everyone.
  5. By putting a piece of your soul into your work, you can make an original gift to your loved ones. Elderly relatives will especially appreciate this - it will be a pleasant reminder for them of their grandchildren and children.
  6. Don't discount it either psychological aspect- after all, this is an opportunity to put your plans into practice, and then be proud of the result.
  7. Suitable for work are things that have been accumulated over the years, but have never found further use.

The listed arguments are quite convincing, and therefore we can now move on to analyzing the theoretical part, how to make a frame table lampshade with your own hands.

Homemade frame

Without a doubt, the interior of any room should be filled with a special atmosphere where you can feel the comfort and harmony of your home environment. In this regard, every detail deserves attention, even seemingly trifles at first glance! But lighting fixtures are a completely separate matter, and in some cases they occupy a central place in the overall picture of the interior.

And as we know, it is not always possible to get what you want at a reasonable price. Therefore, we are increasingly leaning towards the need to manufacture similar products on one's own. This is especially true in cases where only the bases of old chandeliers, floor lamps, and table lamps remain. It would be a sin not to take advantage of this opportunity! Just a few more words worth mentioning about the types of lampshades:

Moreover, each of them has its own characteristics. But if you imagine everything in a general way, they also have similarities.

Frame for lampshade

Let's start by looking at frame lampshades. They have a rigid base on which the selected material is fixed. The frame can be of very different shapes and largely depends on the personal preferences and imagination of the manufacturer. And, of course, the availability of the necessary material is taken into account.

In addition, this design has a significant advantage - the distance between the lamp and the finishing material of the lampshade is immediately determined. It is maintained throughout the entire period of operation of the chandelier, lamp or table lamp.

In addition, the product turns out to be quite rigid (this quality is formed initially), which is already the main advantage of frame lampshades.

Frameless options

In fact, this can also be considered frame products, but with a noticeable difference. Here, the finishing material of the lampshade itself acts as a “solid” base. To give the required shape, a temporary frame is initially made, and the external decoration is attached to it. Typically using glue. And after the composition dries well, the base is removed.

When choosing the manufacture of such a “frame” of a lampshade for a table lamp, it becomes necessary to calculate in advance at what distance the device will be located. Its distinctive advantage is the low weight of the product in comparison with frame option. However, there is a drawback - accidental deformation of the shape can lead to the material being dangerously close to the lamp. And this is already fraught with various consequences - from melting to fire.

This especially applies to manufactured lampshades for a tabletop floor lamp or lamp. They can be damaged due to accidental mechanical impact.

What to choose as a material

Since the topic of the article concerns the production of lampshades with a base, we will not consider other options. Then the question arises, how to make a frame for a lampshade with your own hands? More precisely, what materials can be used to make a good and durable structure?

Here you should take into account the condition of the old lamp - if you only need to update the lampshade, and the frame itself remains intact, then you can get by with choosing a new finishing material. But at the same time, it may also be that it has already lost its functionality and has become unsuitable for further use. It is possible that the lamp does not have a frame at all, but there is a desire to make one.

You can visit a flea market and choose some old version lampshade, which can then be updated at home. And if this option doesn’t suit you, then it’s worth rummaging through your own warehouse, where you’ll most likely find suitable materials.

Garbage Candy

This is one of those options on how to make a frame for a lampshade with your own hands, when you don’t need to make any effort. special efforts to form a frame - in fact, it has already been created. Why not the base of a metal trash bin? It's hardly worth it big money. In many hardware stores you can find plastic options, but for our purposes, it is metal options that are needed (for obvious reasons).

If the shape and dimensions of the basket suit you, then the frame is almost ready. All that remains is to carefully cut a hole in the center of the bottom and securely fasten the lamp socket. In most cases, the bottom of the basket is solid a metal sheet, which is already convenient.

Now you can begin further design of the lampshade. In some cases, it is enough to paint the mesh surface in desired shade, and then decorate the upper and lower parts with some material.

Using wire

The most common material for making a frame is wire. The lampshade frame can be made using spot welding. However, here you need to have the appropriate skills and equipment, which not everyone has.

Therefore, it remains to fasten the elements by twisting. And since a rather thick material is generally used (due to its considerable rigidity and elasticity), they are fastened together with thin wire. An alternative is aluminum, but it is too plastic and easily deformed.

In addition to the material itself, you need to prepare a number of tools:

  1. Pliers - they will be used to bend and straighten the wire.
  2. Tongs with round jaws - convenient for twisting.
  3. Wire cutters - useful for cutting material.
  4. Hammer - you can also use it to straighten individual sections.
  5. Sandpaper- for cleaning frame elements before painting them.
  6. Thin wire - for twisting lampshade elements (connecting wire, 1 mm in diameter will be enough).
  7. Glue "Moment" - for a more reliable connection of elements.

Sometimes, in solving the problem of how to make a frame for a lampshade, you may need electrical tape for additional fixation of the elements, or a hacksaw for metal. Now the actual process of creating a wire frame, which can be represented in the form of several functional steps.

The first step is the diagram

After preparing the tools, you can get down to business. First, draw a lampshade on paper, how it should look in accordance with your personal tastes. It is also worth thinking carefully about its shape. In this case, the dimensions of the structure must be indicated in the diagram.

If fabric is chosen as the finishing material, then you cannot do without a full-fledged frame. It will maintain the shape of the product. However, when using paper, you can get by with basic rings.

Second step - preparation

For a wire lampshade frame with your own hands, you can choose aluminum material with a diameter of 4 mm. The required length is calculated by the formula: L=π*D, where π is 3.14 (the well-known number pi), D is the diameter of the lampshade circumference (shown earlier in the diagram). You just need to add another 100 mm for the connection. Now all that remains is to cut out the required length with a hacksaw.

Third step - foundation

At this stage, the lower ring of the frame is made, and the connection should be made in an overlap (5 cm). Another wire (connecting) is wound at this point. The connection itself should be impregnated with glue - this will strengthen the product. The top ring is made in a similar way.

Fourth step - ribs

It is worth tackling the side ribs, for which the same wire (4 mm in diameter) will do. The height of the do-it-yourself lampshade frame for a floor lamp or table lamp is selected when creating the diagram, and now segments of the required length are measured, only you should also make a reserve of 120 mm for bends. The number of ribs can vary to varying degrees depending on the specific situation: 8, 12, 16 or more.

Afterwards, you can proceed to securing the segment to the upper and lower rings. To do this, each workpiece is bent with pliers, having previously measured 60 mm on each side. They are then held together with a thin connecting wire, just like when creating rings. All joints should also be thoroughly blotted with glue.

Fifth step - lamp socket

A special suspension should be prepared for the cartridge. To do this, you need to bend a loop of wire so that it compresses the cartridge well, and the ends will extend from it in opposite directions. With their help, the suspension will be fixed to the upper ring, as well as the side ribs.

Actually, that's all - the frame for the lampshade is made with your own hands and now all that remains is to decorate it beautifully. Just remember that when using fabric, you should not screw in lamps with a power of more than 100 W.

Wire clothes hangers

If for some reason there is no material to make the frame, wire clothes hangers may come in handy. They need to be untwisted into even sections and straightened with pliers. After this, you can proceed to preparing parts for the lampshade frame.

The elements are connected in the same way as in the step-by-step instructions above. You can also fix it with glue or tape. At the same time, the manufacturing process itself is easy to cast - it will require much less effort. At the same time, you need to understand that the frame in this case will not be as rigid and durable as it should be.

Reinforcing mesh for plastering walls

This material can be found in any hardware store, and the meshes can be with cages different sizes depending on the conditions of use. For the lampshade frame with your own hands, you should choose a surface with cell sizes of 15x15 or 20x20 mm. To select the dimensions of the fragment, again, you should first draw up a diagram of the lampshade, where you should carefully indicate all the dimensions. After which the segment is simply rolled into a pipe, and the edges are connected with twisted wire, overlapping one or two cells.

Only in this case will the frame be in the form of a cylinder or a truncated cone. Therefore, if such a form does not contradict the style of the room and is completely satisfied with its appearance, then this best option. Otherwise, you'll have to find something else.

Fan grille

Many of us have once used a fan that has already become unusable. However, such a device has a useful element - a grid. It is usually present in all floor-mounted fans. So why not give it a second life?

Besides, definite shape already exists - a kind of spherical segment. However, if desired, the frame can be deepened by securing an additional tier of the same wire at the bottom. Or, as another option, lining it with some kind of material. Both will be quite appropriate.

Conclusion

It is not at all necessary to buy an expensive chandelier to decorate a room, bedroom, kitchen, living room and any other room. And if you consider how much they cost, it immediately becomes clear that it is easier to make a frame for a lampshade with your own hands. In addition homemade product can fit into the interior and add a bit of zest.

Besides, here again clean water psychology - looking at a frame made with your own efforts, especially with the support of friends and relatives, is many times more pleasant. You can immediately feel the room special atmosphere home comfort. Of course, if you approach the matter with soul and love.

Handicrafts always attract attention and delight most people. Creation unique interior always based on the fantasies and wishes of the owner. Lighting using table lamps plays an important role. For their production they are used various materials, which can be used to create your own unique decorative lampshade.

  • glue "Moment";
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • wire cutters.

To take into account all the nuances, it is recommended to draw a diagram of the lamp on paper in advance and determine the size of the future frame. Made from the thickest and most flexible wire with a diameter of about 4 mm. The frame of any shape is made. The simplest is considered to be the hemispherical shape of the frame. Anything that has a shape suitable for a lampshade can become auxiliary items when performing work. This will help create the correct shape of the frame, since when making parts it is recommended to use an auxiliary object as a template. On initial stage is being manufactured required quantity rings and ribs of the future frame, which are secured with thin wire and fixed with glue.

The lampshade holder is made in a similar way. The lamp socket is attached to the ring using thick wire and glue. The frame pattern is made from wire of a smaller diameter - 1 mm. Free pattern from different types wire different thicknesses will create even greater attractiveness than a pattern made from one type of wire.

Wire mesh

Tools:

The construction mesh significantly saves time in the manufacture of the frame. From the finished weaving it is necessary to cut out parts along the contour of the pattern using a hacksaw. Typically, wire mesh lampshades have a cubic shape. It is necessary to make a frame from a metal rod. To do this, you need to bend the rod with pliers, creating the desired shape of the future frame. From finished parts going to lampshade the desired shape by stitching them together with thin metal wire. The cartridge is fixed in the lampshade using wire. The finished metal frame can be painted with enamel.

From a five liter plastic bottle

The neck and bottom are cut off from a plastic bottle. The resulting product is the basis for the future lampshade. For correct installation For this frame, you need to install the bottle on the rack with the bottom down. The socket is attached to the lamp stand.

Attention! Certain types plastics become toxic when heated. Before making a lampshade, make sure that the materials used are safe.

Making lampshades on a frame

How to make a lampshade frame with your own hands

The frame is a stable base, mainly consisting of two circles. Circles can be either different or the same diameter; they are connected to each other by vertical partitions. The length of the partition is the height of the lampshade.

To make cylindrical frame, you need to make two circles of the same diameter. If you need to make a classic frame for a lamp, then the bottom circle should be larger in diameter than the top.

Round shape can be obtained if the partitions are not straight, but slightly curved. The classic frame will only benefit from this.

The shape of the frame will be interesting if there is a ring at the base, but not at the top. It turns out that the concave partitions will be connected at the top at one point, and at the bottom they will be fixed at the same distance from each other.

  3. The winding must be tight.
  4. Having reached the desired density, the thread can be cut.
  5. Carefully saturate the entire winding with glue. The better the thread is impregnated with glue, the stronger the lampshade will be after drying.
  6. When the glue is completely dry, the ball can be pierced with a needle and pulled out. Where the tail of the ball was, you need to cut a hole for the cartridge.
