Most residents of cities - large and small, peripheral and metropolitan areas, most often own small apartments. But how I want to organize even this space so that the interior is completely comfortable, cozy, ergonomic and beautiful! It is believed that for maximum effective use space of a small apartment, its layout needs to be organized as simply as possible. It is undesirable to oversaturate the space functionally. Each room should have its own purpose. There is no need to combine them contrary to the prevailing stereotype of open space, but rather to separate the living area and kitchen, living room and bedroom.

Design tricks to visually increase space

So, where does the transformation of a small-sized apartment into a cozy, comfortable and functional home begin? That's right, starting with drawing up a simple project that you can sketch out yourself on a piece of paper.

Of course, unfortunately, it will not be possible to physically solve the problem of space shortage, but it is still worth trying to make housing more ergonomic and comfortable for life. Moreover, many positive feedback owners who decided to resort to small design tricks that help visual increase spaces in their apartment speak of their successful experience.

Corridor and hallway

When decorating the interior design of your small apartment, it would be appropriate to use neutral and simple things. However, these things can be simple and at the same time stylish or even designer. Also, do not complicate and clutter an already small space. For such apartments, the most suitable style is -, in the interior of which only the most necessary things are present, and other unnecessary junk is thrown away.

The main task of pieces of furniture is to make maximum use of the free space of the rooms along the walls, while using corners and hidden volumes. For example, corner cupboard, occupying visually little space, will accommodate quite a large number of items, and access to it will be facilitated by self-extending shelves.

Having thought through every little detail, you can get a functional and stylish art object that attracts attention.

Objects built into each other will allow you to store them more compactly when not in use, the main thing is that they appearance It wasn’t complicated or intricate. It is appropriate if the furniture of one room is made in the same style and from the same materials or companion materials.

Narrow corridor will not be cluttered if the shoes are placed not on the floor, but in a special shoe shelf, which is compact in size, spacious enough and closed.

And in general, the fewer open surfaces on which objects are located, the more neat and uncluttered the design of a small-sized apartment looks.

Bathroom

Bathroom space will allow you to save money by properly placing all its elements. It is convenient to place the washing machine under the shelf on which washing accessories will be stored. This shelf can be multi-story, which will allow you to place rarely used or purchased hygiene products there.

The space under the washbasin can be used to store towels and a basket with things, and under the bathtub - buckets, brushes, cleaning or other plumbing supplies.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, the space above the refrigerator is often neglected, where you can install a cabinet with shelves for storing rarely used dishes. Narrow space between floor cabinets or a cabinet and a wall is well suited for a pull-out shelf on which pot lids, rolling pins and other compact items will be placed.

It is undoubtedly better to use color to decorate a small kitchen; this will visually expand the space. Tall wall cabinets will also visually increase the height and overall volume of the kitchen. Dinner table It’s better to have a sliding one, which will free up space. When 1-2 family members take food, the table does not need to be moved apart; when the whole family gathers for dinner, its size can be increased.

It's a good idea to have a couple of folding chairs that can be stored hanging on hooks behind the door or in a pull-out structure between floor cabinets. These chairs can be taken out as needed and do not take up space when not in use.

Living room

The living area, if possible, should be divided into separate rooms allocated for the bedroom and living room. Having your own private bedroom creates a feeling of comfort, security and stability.

The design of modern beds allows you to use all its elements. Bottom part- for storing bulky items or bedding. Headboard– as a shelf, and sometimes even bedside table, on which you can place night lamps (or reading lamps), favorite photographs, souvenirs brought from travel.

If room layout has a niche, it is advisable to install a cabinet in it. It is better if it occupies the entire space from floor to ceiling. Then all things – seasonal and everyday – will be conveniently and accessible in it. Mirrors are perfect for finishing cabinet doors. This will visually enlarge the room and avoid installing a separate dressing table.

If the layout of the room does not require a niche, then you can install a corner cabinet. This design will not be visually cumbersome, but will allow you to use hard-to-reach corner space.

If after all apartment layout forces you to combine the living room and bedroom, you need to be more careful when choosing a sofa and the mechanism for folding it out. It is worth giving preference to a reliable and convenient design, because you will have to use it every day. It is also necessary to provide a built-in box for storing bedding.

Children's room

Under it you need to allocate the brightest room in the apartment. The one that receives sunlight most of the day. Let it be small, but exactly Light room . Children of any age need a table, and it should be placed near the window. It would be quite beneficial to use the same plane as the window sill as a tabletop.

This will save you money and make it interesting to play workplace, and place along the side walls to the right and left of the window bookshelves, which can accommodate not only a children's library, but also a family one.

If there are two children or the room is very small, then it makes sense to install a loft bed. In the first case, another sleeping place will fit under it, in the second, it will free up space for games or storing toys. Based on the size of the rooms - the master bedroom and the nursery - you need to determine where to store children's clothes.

If it doesn’t allow you to place a wardrobe in it, but in the parents’ room it is spacious enough, then all the children’s things can be stored in it. And for everyday items and underwear, allocate a couple of closed shelves in the closet for books or toys in the nursery. This is especially true when children are still small, and the choice of clothes is made by parents. For teenage children it is already necessary to allocate separate place storage (wardrobe). The main requirement for pieces of furniture for children is reliability, safety And environmental friendliness!

Choosing shades for decorating a children's room, do not forget that the child not only spends his leisure time in it, but also studies and relaxes. Therefore, the desire to dress everything up in bright elements and colored paints can result in fatigue and excessive excitability of the child.

Zone the space, brightly decorate the part of the room in which the child will play and where his toys are stored. And if the furniture in the nursery is already quite colorful, then it is better to make the surfaces of the walls and floors in calm, light colors.

Materials

Now a few words about the choice of materials and shades for decorating the interior of an apartment with a small area.

In a small apartment, you need to give preference to light colors and balancing pattern geometry. At irregular forms rooms (long and narrow), short walls can visually stretch out the horizontal lines in the wallpaper pattern, as well as a lighter shade relative to long walls.

The floors in such a room are preferably parallel to short walls (if it is laminate or parquet boards). In the case of linoleum, a pattern with a horizontal transverse direction is suitable.

Decorating it in a white or light shade, as well as vertical geometry on the walls, will help to visually raise the ceiling. Verticality does not imply the presence of strict verified lines.

Such an ornament will be boring and dull. Give preference to a design that is only perceived as a whole, as vertically directed.

Its elements themselves can be abstract or of your favorite theme. Do not use saturated colors, rough and variegated fragments. If all the walls of the room are decorated in pastel colors, then one of them can be highlighted. To do this, it is good to use companion wallpaper, photo wallpaper, and frescoes. The main thing is that the drawing is not too loaded and heavy.

A bed hidden in the wall is an excellent choice for a small room

Lighting

Make sure there is sufficient lighting in the apartment. A poorly lit room seems to “hide” the darkened areas, creating the feeling of an even smaller space. A central source is suitable for central lighting flat shape if the ceiling is too low (less than 2.5 meters).

Point sources on the ceiling, operating from one control center and uniformly illuminating the entire room, are always appropriate. In the rooms you can additionally use sconce And desk lamp, if they correlate with the main lamp. The fewer diverse and dissonant interior items in a room, the simpler and more spacious it seems. In a small apartment, sliding doors or accordion doors would also be very appropriate. Then, when open, they will not take up much space.

The variety and availability of modern finishing materials and materials for the manufacture of furniture allows us to overcome the limitations imposed by square meters. By properly planning the space, you can always visually compensate for its volume.

And by following the simple tips outlined in this article, you can organize your small apartment interior cozy, comfortable, and most importantly, as functional as possible.

Working on the design of small apartments allows you to fully express your individuality and imagination. Here you will have to abandon standard techniques; you need to design something original, special in order to create comfortable and cozy housing in a small space. As an example, we present 14 projects with the interiors of small apartments, some of them already have owners, while others are just planned for implementation.

Design of small apartments up to 20 sq.m. m.

Interior design of a small apartment of 18 sq. m.

With an area of 18 sq. m. it is necessary to save every centimeter and use every opportunity to increase small space. For this purpose, the designers insulated the loggia and combined it with the living room - for this they had to remove balcony block. An office for working with a corner table top and open shelves for books was installed on the former loggia.

A bench was placed at the entrance, a mirror and clothes hangers were placed above it. You can comfortably change your shoes on the bench, and store your shoes under it. The main storage system of variable width is also located here, part of it is given over to clothes, part to household appliances.

The living room is divided into functional areas. Immediately behind the entrance area there is a kitchen equipped with all modern appliances. Behind it there is a living room - a sofa with a small table, above it there are open shelves for decorative items and books, and opposite there is a TV area.

In the evening, the living room turns into a bedroom - the sofa folds out and becomes a comfortable bed. A folding dining area is placed between the kitchen and living area: the table rises and becomes one of the sections of the storage system, and the chairs are folded and taken out onto the loggia.

Project “Compact studio interior 18 sq. m." from Lyudmila Ermolaeva.

Design project for a small studio apartment of 20 sq. m.

In order to create a concise and functional interior, the designers decided to use an open floor plan and removed all the walls that were not load-bearing. The resulting space was divided into two zones: technical and residential. A small hallway and a plumbing unit were located in the technical area, and a kitchen-dining room was installed in the living area, which also served as a living room.

At night, a bed appears in the room, which is put away in the closet during the day and does not interfere with free movement around the apartment. Near the window there was a place for a desktop: a small tabletop with table lamp, above it are open shelves, next to it is a comfortable chair.

The main color of the design is white, with the addition of gray tones. Black was selected as contrast. The interior is complemented by wooden elements - light wood brings warmth and comfort, and its texture enriches the decorative palette of the project.

For such a limited area, the best stylistic solution for interior design is minimalism. White walls and ceiling, white furniture of laconic shape, merging with the background - all this visually increases the size of the room. As decorative elements colored accents and designer lamps are used.

Transformable furniture is another key to successfully solving the problem of placing in a small area everything that is necessary for comfort and coziness to modern man. IN in this case The sofa in the living area folds out and the living room turns into a bedroom. The mini-office table easily turns into a large dining table.

Design of small apartments from 20 to 25 square meters. m.

Small studio 25 sq. m.

The apartment is equipped taking into account all the requirements for comfort. The hallway has a spacious storage system; in addition, additional systems storage is arranged in the bedroom - there is a mezzanine where you can place suitcases or boxes with things, and a chest of drawers in the television area located in the bedroom.

The large double bed's headboard is adjacent to a wall decorated with a geometric pattern. IN small bathroom there was room for a washing machine. A kitchen with a sofa can easily serve as a guest space.

The studio measures 24 square meters and is decorated in Scandinavian style. The white color of the walls, doors and light wooden surfaces harmoniously combine with accent colors, characteristic of northern interiors. White is responsible for the visual expansion of space, bright accent colors add a joyful mood.

Wide ceiling cornice– a decorative detail that adds charm to the interior. A play of textures is also used as decor: one of the walls is lined brickwork, the floors are wooden and the main walls are plaster, all painted white.

Design project for a small apartment of 25 sq. m.

An interesting example of space zoning is provided by the DesignRush studio, whose masters transformed an ordinary small-sized apartment into a very comfortable and modern living space. Light colors help expand the volume, while milky shades are used to add warmth. The feeling of warmth and comfort is enhanced by wooden interior elements.

In order to separate functional areas from each other, designers use multi-level ceiling and different floor coverings. Zoning is supported by well-planned lighting: in the center of the sofa area under the ceiling there is a suspension in the shape of a luminous ring, along the sofa and TV area there are lamps on metal bars arranged in a line.

The hallway and kitchen are illuminated using built-in ceiling spots. Three black tube lights mounted on the ceiling above the dining area visually draw the line between the kitchen and the living room.

Beautiful small apartment with an unusual layout

Studio apartment 30 sq. m. is designed in a minimalist style with elements Scandinavian style– this is indicated by the combination of white walls with the texture of natural wood, a bright blue accent in the form of a carpet on the living room floor, as well as the use of tiles with ornaments to decorate the bathroom.

The main highlight of the interior is its unusual layout. In the center there is a huge wooden cube in which the sleeping area is hidden. From the living room side, the cube is open, and from the kitchen side there is a deep niche in it, into which a work surface with a sink and stove, as well as a refrigerator and kitchen cabinets are built.

Each area of the apartment has other wooden parts, so the central cube serves not only as a dividing element, but also as a unifying element.

Small one-room studio 29 sq. m. was divided into two zones, in one of which, farthest from the window, there was a bedroom, and in the other, a living room. They are separated from each other by decorative fabric curtains. In addition, we managed to find space not only for the kitchen and bathroom, but also for a dressing room.

The interior is designed in Art Deco style in its American version. Stylish combination of light glossy surfaces with dark wood wenge on the background beige walls complemented by glass and chrome details. The kitchen space is separated from the living area by a high bar table.

Apartment design 30 sq. m.

A small apartment, the overall style of which can be defined as modern, has a sufficient amount of storage space. This is a large closet in the hallway, space under sofa cushions, a chest of drawers and a TV stand in the living room, two rows of cabinets in the kitchen, a drawer under the bed in the bedroom.

The living room and kitchen are separated by a gray concrete wall. It does not reach the ceiling, but is fixed at the top LED Strip Light backlighting - this solution visually lightens the design, making it “weightless”.

The living room is separated from the bedroom by a thick curtain gray. Using a natural palette and natural materials gives the interior solidity. The main design colors are gray, white, brown. Contrasting details are made in black.

Design of small apartments from 31 to 35 square meters. m.

Studio project 35 sq. m.

The best small apartments are decorated using natural materials - this brings the required solidity to their furnishings, and allows you to do without decorative elements cluttering up the space, since the color and texture of the materials themselves are used as decor.

Parquet boards laid in a herringbone pattern, porcelain tiles with a “marble” surface, veneered MDF – these are the main finishing materials in the apartment. In addition, white and black paint were used. Wooden elements interior design in combination with marble surfaces allows you to saturate it with an interesting pattern, while keeping the main volume free.

The living room is combined with the kitchen and dining room, and the sleeping area is separated by a partition made of metal and glass. During the day, you can fold it and lean it against the wall, so it won’t take up much space. The entrance area and bathroom are isolated from the main volume of the apartment. In addition, there is a laundry room.

Project “Design from Geometrium: studio 35 sq. m. in the residential complex "Filigrad"

Apartment with a separate bedroom of 35 sq. m.

Beautiful interiors of small apartments, as a rule, have a common feature: they take the minimalist style as a basis, and add an interesting decorative idea to it. The stripe became such an idea in the 35-meter one-room apartment.

A small place for night rest is highlighted by a wall with horizontal lines. They make a tiny bedroom seem larger and add rhythm. The wall in which the storage system is hidden is also “striped”. Track lamps in the interior support the idea of horizontal stripes, repeated both in furniture and in the decoration of the bathroom.

The main color of the interior is white, with black used as a contrast. Textile elements and panels in the living room add subtle color accents and soften the atmosphere.

Project “Design of a one-room apartment of 35 sq. m. with sleeping place"

This is real men's interior with a strong character reflecting the views of its owner. The studio layout makes it possible to maintain the maximum possible volume, while highlighting the necessary areas for work and relaxation.

The living room and kitchen are separated by a brick bar counter, typical of a loft-style interior. Between the living room and home office we placed a chest of drawers with an adjoining desk.

The interior is full of rich decorative details, many of which are made by hand. In their production, old, already discarded things were used. So, the coffee table is a former suitcase, the seats of bar stools were once bicycle seats, the leg of a floor lamp is a photo tripod.

Implementation design ideas can bring new colors to life, create a corner of comfort and warmth that fully meets the interests and hobbies of its owner. Performance certain rules design will even turn small room into a more spacious and functional one. Design of a small room is not only right choice color scheme, which allows you to visually increase the space, but also a successful selection of interior details, allowing you to intelligently use every centimeter of space.

The color scheme plays one of the important roles, it can visually expand the boundaries of the room

To design a small room, you should choose the furniture wisely

Even the smallest room can be turned into a comfortable and functional room

IN modern apartments rooms with limited space can serve as a living room, bedroom, office and nursery. But, more often than not, even such a small space is multifunctional. At the same time, there is not always a need to remodel a house or apartment; using your imagination, even in such conditions, you can create a truly original interior decoration. To make the interior of a small room as comfortable as possible, you need to follow a few simple rules.

  1. Make sure every corner is well lit. Darkness, of course, is the friend of youth, but the enemy of tiny rooms. Insufficient lighting literally compresses space.
  2. Use pastel colors to decorate all surfaces: walls, ceiling and floor. One wall can be highlighted more than bright shade. Perfect option– photo wallpaper depicting a landscape or an optical illusion, further enhancing the impression of space.
  3. You should not glue wallpaper with small patterns; a classic print is more suitable: vertical stripes, large patterns. This solution will make the room more noble.
  4. Choose elegant modular furniture, do not overload the interior with unnecessary details, especially massive ones.
  5. Small decorative elements are more suitable for the interior, as they create a false impression of space: miniature photographs or paintings, a small carpet that leaves part of the floor open.

Following these simple principles will create comfortable interior even in a very cramped area.

For small rooms, everything needs to be calculated down to the smallest detail.

If you follow the rules, the design of the room will turn out bright and cozy

How to decorate a window?

Window - key element interior of small rooms, good design can create an atmosphere of comfort and harmony. The best options for decorating it are:

  • curtains made of light fabrics;
  • transparent, flowing tulle;
  • curtains with drapery.

The choice of textiles for window design largely depends on the purpose of the small room. For a small bedroom, curtains with drapery are more suitable, for a nursery - curtains with an unusual print, for an office combined with a library or living room - tulle, which easily lets in natural light.

If you don’t want to make the window an accent piece, hang a rectangular white or cream curtain on it, so attention will be concentrated on the remaining area. For this purpose, you can hang roller shutters or exquisite blinds.

Roman blinds are perfect for bedroom windows

You can decorate windows with curtains

The window is the main element in small rooms

Choosing a stylistic direction

Area and architectural features dictate strict conditions when choosing the style of interior decoration. In a 12-meter room, Baroque or Rococo styles, overloaded with details, will look ridiculous and unnatural. But great solution will become:

  • high tech;
  • minimalism;
  • Scandinavian;
  • Japanese;
  • modern style.

These styles have in common a small number of decorative elements, smooth surfaces and straight lines. It is with the definition of the general concept that all work must begin: the selection of furniture and finishing materials will become much easier.

Application light colors visually expands the boundaries of the room

Small rooms need a lot of light

Usually modern styles are used for small rooms

Interior of a small room depending on its purpose

Planning design work always begins with establishing the functional features of the room.

Features of the design project depending on the type of room

Bedroom design

When decorating, carefully consider the color scheme and lighting. You should not give preference to dark shades, it is better to choose delicate tones: beige, cream, white or light blue will make the room a real center for relaxation and rest after a busy day. These shades are optimal for relaxation and psychological relief. In addition, light colors visually enlarge the room, which in the case of small area no less important than creating an atmosphere of relaxation.

Sources of soft, diffused light - best solution in a small bedroom. Your eyes will not get tired from too bright lighting. Hang sconces with caps over the bed or place lamps with shades on bedside tables, install tall floor lamps. This way, you can illuminate every corner without straining your eyesight.

In the bedroom it is better to use soft diffused light

When designing a small bedroom, you should think through everything down to the smallest detail.

Kitchen decoration

Create a room design plan, think about the layout and zoning of the space. In the work area, pay attention to the “sink-stove-refrigerator” triangle; access to them should be free.

Choose a set with glossy finishes, glass doors and metal elements - this will make the kitchen seem more spacious. If possible, move the refrigerator to another location. It is better to choose light aprons, walls and countertops, so you can avoid the effect of weighing down the interior decoration.

The design of a small kitchen needs to be thought out carefully

Design of a small living room

The main rule: do not overload the interior with bulky items. Even if you have a large family or you often receive guests, do not install a massive sofa and large armchairs; it is better to opt for an elegant sofa with light upholstery and small armchairs with carved wooden armrests and ottomans. It is appropriate to use large pillows as additional seating (especially if there is a group of young people), which can usually be put away in the wall.

The best location for a TV or plasma panel is the wall opposite the sofa.

Smart interior of a room in a Khrushchev building

Such houses have long been outdated, but still make up a significant part of the housing stock in the post-Soviet space. Once upon a time, such a separate apartment was the ultimate dream of a simple Soviet man, now the inconvenient layout, poor sound insulation and small size cause a restrained smile or irritation.

But the times when such apartments were strongly associated with carpets on the walls are long gone. Even a “Khrushchev” building can be made truly relevant and comfortable for people accustomed to modern conditions.

Modern style, minimalism or Provence are most suitable for decorating “Khrushchev” buildings. When choosing furniture, finishing materials and decor, you need to follow the general principles of design of small rooms.

Decorating a small room in a Khrushchev building is not difficult

It is best to use light shades

Even in a Khrushchev building you can create a cozy and functional design

Successful color solutions

One of the main tasks facing people who independently create a design project for their own home is not to make a mistake with their choice color combinations. Limited housing sizes push a number of additional conditions. To visually expand the space as the main tone, use:

  • white and all its shades;
  • baby blue;
  • beige;
  • light green;
  • pale pink.

Strictly follow the rule of three: one color is used as the main one, there can be quite a lot of it, usually used when decorating walls, floors and ceilings; no more than two other shades should be present as additional shades. These tones can be really bright and rich even in cramped spaces.

It is better to use warm shades in the bedroom

Lighter colors are suitable for the living room

Zoning a small room

The problem of division into zones is especially acute in a one-room apartment, when a single living space must perform all the functions that exist. When several people live in an apartment, you can divide it with a partition. But under no circumstances use monolithic, heavy materials. It’s better to put up a translucent partition that will diffuse and reflect light. In this case, one part can be decorated as a living room with a work desk, and the second as a small children’s room or bedroom.

If this option is not suitable because you want more privacy, an excellent choice would be sliding partitions, if you choose such “doors” with a mirror coating, they will also visually enlarge a tiny room.

If the ceilings are high enough, a place to sleep can be equipped on an improvised second floor. In this case, you can place spacious cabinets under it and install a work desk. This way you will unload the rest of the area.

If the ceiling height is low, install a podium on which to set up a guest or work area, and hide a pull-out bed inside.

A wooden partition will look very beautiful

Zoning can be done using partitions

Decorative partitions with lighting will be excellent option for zoning

Furniture selection

Small rooms need to be furnished with very compact and functional furniture. Furniture items look harmonious simple shapes and clear lines. To make the interior decoration more “alive”, select furnishings so that the horizontal surfaces are at different levels.

Experiment with so-called “transformers” - pieces of furniture that can completely change their shape and even purpose.

Do not overload the interior, place only the essentials: a bed or sofa, a table, places to store various things. Don't clutter the space.

Wallpaper for small rooms

When choosing wall decoration and window decoration, you need to consider some of the most common design techniques, which will help make the interior more comfortable and interesting. Wallpaper should be:

  • light colors;
  • with a simple texture;
  • without a pattern or with very small patterns.

Of course, you can experiment a little, but very dark shades definitely won’t work. Cool colors are ideal, but only in very good lighting, otherwise choose warmer tones.

Wallpaper with patterns will look very good

Wallpaper is a must light shades

Design nuances for boys and girls

Of course, the rooms of girls and boys differ significantly from each other. There are several nuances that will help you navigate the myriad of design ideas and create a truly impressive interior yourself.

So, for a girl’s room it is better to choose:

  • delicate shades;
  • elegant furniture;
  • a large number of decorative elements.

Suitable for the space in which a young guy lives:

  • strict tones;
  • minimum decor;
  • functional environment.

Don't be afraid to show your imagination. With a little effort, even tiny rooms of 5 or 6 square meters can be made original, functional and, most importantly, comfortable for their owners.

50 photos of small room design ideas:

It is no secret that ordinary average families live in small apartments located in old houses, so households have an acute question about design. As a rule, the furnishings of such a small apartment should combine harmony of functionality, comfort, make the space more ergonomic and provide convenience to all living family members.

Rules for good design

Despite the complexity of the task, furnishing the interior of a small apartment is a very interesting and exciting activity.

To do this, you should adhere to some simple rules:

  • the first step is to decide on the necessary pieces of furniture, since they must be optimally and correctly placed;
  • a small room should always be bright, this task can be achieved by: light wall decoration, transparent light curtains, zoning of lighting fixtures, a large mirror surface;
  • the most compact functional furniture: a sofa - a book, a folding table, which can, if necessary, be transformed into a large dining tabletop;
  • an ordinary wall or wardrobe is replaced with high cabinets up to the ceiling, that is, the height, rather than the width of the room, is used to the maximum.

A one-room area assumes the presence of a folding bed, lifting which you can see a bookcase underneath or a comfortable workplace.

As an example: it is reasonable to separate the sleeping area with a sheet of plasterboard or a cornice with a curtain made of thick fabric. So, during the daytime, the bed can be hidden by simply closing the curtain.

The task of redevelopment will be much simpler if there is a loggia or balcony, which, if desired, can be turned into extra room. Why do you need to demolish part of the partition, insulate the walls, perform good waterproofing and arrange a nursery, bedroom, or office for work there.

Furnishings of several rooms

It is much easier when the house has several rooms, since it is possible to use every free corner of a small space. The photo of the design of small apartments with two or more rooms shows several options for placing furniture items:

It is appropriate to put in a small nursery bunk bed, freeing up space for play and activities. If there is one baby in the family, the sleeping place is located on the second tier, and underneath there is a work zone, where you can draw, play or do homework.

It is wise to place a tall narrow wardrobe (wardrobe) along the wall, cover the walls with pastel light wallpaper and plan the lighting wisely, which visually expands the space.

The second room can accommodate both a bedroom and a living room, as well as a study. If there are only two rooms, you can separate the sleeping area by introducing a compact folding sofa. It is reasonable to separate the zones with a screen or curtain to hide the sleeping area from unwanted views.

The first thing that catches your eye is, of course, the corridor (hallway), which needs to be furnished as competently and comfortably as possible. Please note that even the smallest hallway can accommodate everything you need, while remaining a free and spacious area.

When renovating and designing a corridor, you should opt for light-colored canvases for wall decoration, the presence of large mirrors, and a spacious closet with mirrored doors. On the sides of the wide mirrored wardrobe, you should place through shelves for figurines, books, photographs, vases, cosmetics and other accessories.

If the closet is inappropriate, it is reasonable to place small spacious cabinets for small items and sectional furniture (a separate closet for clothes, shoes, an opening ottoman) in the corridor that leads to the hallway.

Kitchen space: small area

Most often, a small-sized home has a very small room for cooking, so it is worth furnishing it as functionally as possible. Usually, next to the kitchen there is a bathtub combined with a toilet, several meters of which can be separated in favor of the kitchen.

It is appropriate to put a refrigerator in a niche, or to introduce a pantry for supplies and food. By placing the sink under window opening, you can successfully use the window sill by placing a shelf for dishes, household and cutlery on it.

The free wall will accommodate a shallow panel for decorations, cookbooks, Appliances. It is convenient to make cabinets at the bottom in which unnecessary or rarely used items and accessories are hidden. Built-in space saver Appliances: washing machine, microwave, refrigerator.

It's no secret that households love to watch TV in the kitchen. It is better to place a small flat TV on a free wall, securing it to a retractable bracket.

Often, during renovations, the wall of the kitchen and the adjacent room is demolished, but keep in mind that it should not be load-bearing! The photo of a small apartment shows a kitchen enlarged in this way - a studio, decorated with an opening with a bar counter.

Modern studio apartment

The modern family nowadays quite often strives to create user-friendly design a small studio apartment that is not limited by borders. During renovation, all doors and non-supporting ones are almost completely removed. interior walls. The studio is effective way expanding the free space, making it an interesting and economical area.

But, it is worth considering that the presence of children in the family excludes this option, since the child needs his own personal room in the house.

Naturally, if the apartment has three rooms, you can seclude only one, and convert the rest of the area into an original studio for adult family members.

It is better to decorate the space of a small studio apartment, taking into account the following nuances:

  • furniture upholstery, curtains and wall surfaces are made in light, calm colors;
  • maximum number of mirrors, glass surfaces and partitions;

Photos of small apartment design

As practice shows, it is in apartments that are small in size that it is possible to create an interior with a recognizable face. Every little detail is of decisive importance, starting with the placement of the boundaries of the premises and ending with the dimensions of furnishings and decor. You just need to use your “reserves” and select optimal solutions. Here are several examples of how architects and designers are developing space up to 36 m2.

1. One-room apartment with an area of 20 m2

A young polyglot woman working as a foreign language teacher purchased an apartment in a former communal apartment. After renovation brick house, built in the middle of the 20th century, the former rooms were turned into small apartments with miniature kitchens and bathrooms. To adapt a small apartment for Everyday life, the owner turned to professionals.

The structure of the home has remained almost unchanged: the apartment, square in plan, with two windows facing south, is divided into two rectangular parts. The larger one is located living room, in the smaller one there is an entrance hall, a bathroom and a kitchen; the latter are separated by a load-bearing wall. The main task was not only to make the housing comfortable, but also to fit into it the furniture necessary for storage. For this purpose, the partition between the room and the hallway was slightly lengthened - thus, a large wardrobe was built into the resulting niche on the side of the room, and in the hallway, a voluminous pouffe was placed in the corner for changing shoes. Another wardrobe is located along the side wall of the hallway.

After removing the small projections of the partitions in the areas of the openings leading from the living room to the kitchen and hallway, it became possible to install doors and install a multifunctional one along the windows. It includes dining and worktops and storage cabinets. A full-size plunge pool was installed in the bathroom, and a small toilet and washbasin helped save space for the washing machine. All interior doors in the apartment are sliding.

Designing the interior on the first floor panel house, the architect managed to fit into a very modest budget, but at the same time create a complete home for the girl. The apartment has small hallway, separate kitchen, areas for sleeping, studying or working, as well as for receiving guests. The author complicated the configuration of the partition between the kitchen and the bathroom by creating multi-level niches. Thus, it was possible to place a washing machine on the bathroom side, and above it (on the kitchen side) a cabinet with a microwave oven.

Only installed in the bathroom interior door, from the hallway there is a view of the room and kitchen. The interiors are united using a color scheme (white finishing, light-colored materials); each room has one or two contrasting details (patterned wallpaper) that allow you to visually deepen the space.

3. Studio with an area of 28.8 m2

To create a feeling of spaciousness and arrange all the necessary functional areas, the designer used. Fortunately, there were no intra-apartment load-bearing walls. The author of the project combined the kitchen and the room, while highlighting a bedroom with a large built-in wardrobe in the resulting volume. If desired, the seating area can be isolated by closing the curtain.

The kitchen-dining-living room area occupies 14.7 m2, the conventional boundary is the bar counter (if necessary, it also serves as a dining table and work table). The entrance to the bathroom has been moved, now it looks not at the front door, but into the corridor, the wall of which was moved towards the room by about 20 cm. Due to this, the total area entrance group increased by a third, and not only a wardrobe, but also an armchair fit there. In the part of the hallway where the entrance to the bathroom was previously supposed to be, a pantry with storage systems and a washing machine appeared.

4. One-room apartment with an area of 32 m2

The apartment plan is a regular rectangle. Previously, a non-load-bearing partition divided it into a room and a kitchen; between the latter and a small hallway there was a bathroom and a corridor. There are two windows in the house, from the room you can go out onto the balcony. Having dismantled the old partitions, the designer left the kitchen and bathroom in their original places, but changed their layout. Thus, the area of the bathroom was expanded due to the corridor, thanks to which it was possible to install a bathtub.

To the right of the entrance door, in the corner, a dressing room was installed - only it and the bathroom are closed by doors, and there are now no partitions between the hallway, living room-bedroom and kitchen-dining room (this layout is not subject to approval, since the kitchen is gas stove must be isolated from residential premises. - Approx. ed.). A wardrobe was built into the niche at the entrance to the apartment, and the L-shaped kitchen modules were separated from the living room by a partition projection that exactly corresponded to the depth of the modules.

5. One-room apartment with an area of 32 m2

Initially, the apartment had a separate living room and kitchen, and a combined bathroom. The latter protruded into a long corridor, narrowing the already not too wide passage to the cooking room. To begin with, all the partitions were dismantled, thus creating a studio space. The wet area was then isolated using newly erected walls.

At the same time, the footage of the bathroom decreased - by the area of the ledge that previously narrowed the passage to the kitchen. By the way, at first glance it may seem that there is absolutely no storage space in the apartment. This is not so - to the right of the entrance to the home there is a large dressing room. It was placed along end wall living room areas.

6. Two-room apartment with an area of 34.5 m2

The customer was not satisfied with the original layout, in which all rooms were isolated. There was an impression of crampedness and isolation. Therefore, the architect proposed creating a combined space, including an entrance hall, kitchen and living room. Each zone has its own conventional boundary. Thus, the hallway is separated from the living room by a low furniture module. From the hallway it plays the role of a comfortable banquette; in the living room it functions as a cabinet with a TV panel.

The module closes the room from the entrance door, but does not look bulky and does not prevent natural light from entering the entrance area. The kitchen is visually separated from the general space by a narrow bar counter (30 cm) with a built-in compact wine cabinet, which the customer dreamed about so much. Conventional boundaries are also visible in the floor finishing - parquet is laid in the living room, and porcelain tiles imitating marble are installed in the hallway and kitchen. The bedroom remains isolated, but communicates with the rest of the space through sliding structures with transparent glass inserts.

Before renovation: total area 34.5 m2 ceiling height 3.22 m

After renovation: total area 34.9 m2 ceiling height 3.12/2.95 m

7. One-room apartment with an area of 35 m2

The apartment with two windows facing south is close in plan to a square, which is divided in the middle by a non-load-bearing partition. Near the entrance area there is a rectangular bathroom compartment. The loggia only partially protrudes beyond the outer contour of the dwelling, and according to the original plan, two doors led into it - from the room and from the kitchen.

During the renovation process, non-load-bearing partitions were removed, the loggia was not added to the living space, but the window sill block on the living room side was dismantled, and floor-to-ceiling windows were installed instead, which made it possible to improve insolation. The living room (a folding sofa also serves as a sleeping place) was separated from the opening between the hallway and the kitchen by a partition made of plaster blocks. The partition can be bypassed on both sides. All functional areas, except the bathroom and loggia, have an open plan.
