A wooden house and white windows are a classic Russian option, typical for private buildings in most regions of our country. But this is not the only solution: methods of color decoration are described below window openings in objects from natural material, and also tells what to consider when choosing a covering material.

Types of coating compositions

Wood frames require more maintenance than PVC or aluminum frames. Their main disadvantage is the need for regular painting, since natural conditions constantly affect decorative surface. How to paint windows in a wooden house? Today the following compositions are popular:

There are no universal paints: each performs a specific task. Therefore, before purchasing them, you should determine your goals and only then be inclined to choose one or another coating. By the way, price is not an indicator of quality and vice versa. You should only trust trusted and reputable manufacturers.

Painting old frames

Give it to the old window new life, even if the design is outdated, it is quite possible by following simple recommendations. The color of windows in log houses can be any color. Universal white will give the building freshness, but sometimes it can turn yellow from bright sun. Frames in brown, coffee or beige shades are good; in combination with wood they form a harmonious ensemble.

So, the sequence of actions:

It is recommended to completely disassemble the window structure into its components - frame, frames, glazing beads, fittings. All wood is carefully inspected for damage. If it is found, it is mercilessly disposed of, generously wetting the parts with strong aqueous solutions chemicals. After the procedure, the wood must be given time to absorb. If the areas of damage are severe, you should refuse to extend the service life of the entire window unit.

Next, the entire structure is coated with a solvent or heated construction hairdryer, naturally, removing all the glass. This will remove the old paint. Use a spatula, carefully, releasing layer by layer pure wood. You can use grinder or act manually, then it will take more time, but the risk of damaging the surface with automation will be less. After processing, the frame parts are again impregnated with protective compounds.

All irregularities, cracks and defects are puttied. For this purpose it is purchased special composition, hardening in air. After restoring the contours of the glass, they are inserted back, carefully hammering in the glazing beads. The block is ready for painting.

The shade of the roof helps decide what color the windows in the house should be. This is most harmonious for a private property. Of course, it is unlikely that a white roof exists, but this color goes with everything, so you can safely act in this case.

Stages of work:

After the layers have completely dried, the frame is inserted into place, the sashes are hung, and the fittings are installed. You can “revive” the window with the help of beautiful hinges or handles - copper or brass will perfectly emphasize the richness of the wood.

Choice of colors

Many owners choose colors based on the style of the building. For example, Russian wooden house, the color of the roof and windows is the same or, in general, natural. Using varnish or a glazing matte composition, you can preserve light wood shades.

It is not forbidden to do window designs ocher or brick - dark brown. There is a plus here: rain streaks and dirt from fallen leaves are less noticeable on the windows.

Other styles, for example, chalets (Swiss houses), modern (objects with double light), country (rustic) also tend to be varied, not dissonant with the walls of the building. You can select windows light shades– yellow, orange, blue. The latter option is only acceptable if the building has an appropriate roof or doors.

Wooden houses in the minimalist style do not welcome excesses - bright colors not for them. It's best to highlight window units painted platbands or highlight openings with painted casing boxes. Otherwise, the frames remain wooden, sanded and varnished.

Whatever the owners choose, it is important to remember that the paint composition should not be corrosive or contain too much a large number of chemicals and volatile compounds so as not to harm the wood. So, having decided the question of what to paint with, you can get to work: all recommendations are available and do not require much skill and skill.

How to properly paint platbands and door leaf Every specialized master should know, but this knowledge will not hurt those who are planning to do renovation work in your home, with my own hands and wants to update old door and platbands. Interior doors- this is an important design element, so they appearance must always be on top. This means that if you do not have the opportunity to replace a door that has lost its attractiveness, then it is advisable to paint it, not forgetting about the trim.

Although new doors sometimes also need painting, since they are sold as unfinished canvases (to allow the buyer’s imagination to run wild). Coloring is also necessary in order to prevent their premature deterioration. In this article we will introduce you to some of the nuances that you need to know when starting a process such as painting trim and door panels.

Preparation for painting must be done carefully. First you need to remove all existing fittings (locks, handles, hinges and the like). The door leaf also needs to be removed for thorough painting of the trim. But it also happens that this process is simply not possible (due to the ornate layout of the apartment or house), then you just need to fix the door in a position convenient for painting the trim and canvas, simply using a wedge.

If the door is old, then the layer of old paint must be removed. This can be done using a plane, sanding paper, and others special tools. Or maybe chemically. The choice of removal products mainly depends on the materials from which the doors are made and the condition of the paint. In any case, it is necessary to work with old paint On the door you need to be extremely careful and skillfully experienced professional. After all, if you leave any damage on the canvas or trim, then they may be visible under a layer of new paint. And this is very ugly.

In order for the new paint applied to the trim to serve for a long time and adhere well, as we wrote above, you need to prepare the surface of the door leaf in advance. This means sanding, priming, puttying, applying another primer coat and sanding again. Untreated wood must be coated with a layer of appropriate primer to prevent paint from being absorbed into the wood. Naturally, the same applies to old door panels and trims. A new door you just need to degrease it.

Then you need to decide on varnish and paint. It’s worth noting right away that cheap paint usually doesn’t apply well (tested), doesn’t last long, and its consumption is very high, so you shouldn’t skimp on this issue and immediately buy high-quality paint or varnish so that the trims and doors don’t have to be repainted. Thankfully modern choice colors allows you to shave products of any composition and color. Even if there are people in the family who have allergic reactions, you can buy a special oil to coat the doors; it is harmless to people, plus it beautifully emphasizes the structure of the wood.

The trims begin to stain after they are painted. top beam and vertical strappings. After finishing the work, the paint should be allowed to dry completely. Then, if desired, you can apply an original design to the door using a stencil.

To work you will need:

  • Paint flutes
  • Stepladder or table
  • Sandpaper
  • Dye
  • Primer
  • Sharp spatula or scraper
  • Hammer, screwdriver and nails
  • Grinding machine

If it becomes necessary to apply another coat of paint, the dried first layer must first be sanded using a portable sander. This kind of work is usually trusted to professionals because it is quite delicate.

And their components are distinguished by color. For example, imagine that a person came to a store and chose a door whose color was indicated as “walnut”. In addition to the door, he needs to additionally buy a frame, as well as a platband. But upon closer examination of the options for these components offered to him, it turns out that the color of all three items differs by a tone or even two from each other, although all the packages indicate exactly the color of walnut.

Such situations happen everywhere and many people, giving up on this fact, buy everything necessary details, even if different from each other in color. After installing such elements, it becomes clear that it is better to do something about it than to leave it as it is.

Then the question arises about what paint to choose in order to even out the colors of the products and make them the same. Naturally, in in this case the use of varnishes, stains and similar materials is excluded. These substances usually have a transparent or translucent appearance and therefore will not improve the situation in any way. In this case, all that remains is to choose a paint that matches the color and paint all purchased products, that is, the door, trim, frame.

But it also happens that the owners simply want to change the color of the platband or buy it specifically for further coloring. This is practiced if a person purchases doors and trims for installation in all or several doorways Houses.

Buying material for painting, especially buying in bulk, is several times cheaper than buying already painted products. The platbands can be painted with the same paints and varnishes that are used to paint door panels. Often used for this acrylic enamels for wooden surfaces. Such specialized paints are mainly used for painting furniture, doors, and windows. They may be white or have a color similar to the wood material.

These paints, as a rule, work well, last a long time, do not fade or rub off. Such acrylic enamels have water base, they do not emit odor and dry quickly. But there are also paints on alkyd based. They are very often used for similar purposes, but unlike acrylic paints, they do not preserve texture wood covering. Hold on alkyd enamels very long, may have various colors, which are perfect for painting trim and doors.

These types of paints are considered the most resistant for painting both trim and door panels. There are also oil enamels, which are used less and less today due to the emergence of higher quality and functionally improved paint and varnish materials. When choosing paint for processing trim and doors, do not forget to read the recommendations and characteristics given by the manufacturer of the substance. This information is located on each product package.

Work on my house is progressing, although not as quickly as I would like. Today I’ll tell you about windows, trim and painting the inside of logs.

While there are no windows in the house, it is impossible to put it into operation and register ownership, so I start with the windows.

Surprisingly, all the windows fit into one small van.

I spent a long time choosing the material from which to make windows. We considered 2 options - laminated metal-plastic profile or larch. As a result, I chose a tree. Each of these materials has its own pros and cons.

Some sections were made blind, some opened. This frame with a solid mounted double-glazed window weighs about 250 kg. Five of us lifted him into place. Well, at least the opening doors can be removed.

The finished result. There are 18 windows in the house different sizes and forms, including double door to the terrace (pictured)

The windows themselves are installed in a special frame assembled from joiner's board or thick wide board. This frame is called a casing, a frame, a frame, etc. Whatever you call it, the purpose is the same - protecting a window or door during house shrinkage. The casing is attached to the slope of the log in a special sliding way through a key and always remains in place, even if the log itself goes down during shrinkage. To prevent the casing from being crushed by the shrinking house, a shrinkage gap of 5 to 10 cm (sometimes more) is left on top. It is clearly visible in all photos.

Subsequently, this gap is closed with mineral insulation wrapped in isospan. It works like a spring, because wooden walls can not only sit down, but also rise depending on humidity environment. Vertical gaps between the casing and the end of the log can be caulked with flax.

It so happened that over large windows I had to leave very large gaps. I wanted the windows on the perpendicular walls to be at the same height. This subsequently influenced the design of the platbands.

To call specialists from BTI, in addition to windows, you also need floors between the 1st and 2nd floors so that engineers can walk through them and measure the premises. Since my ceilings are at the top wooden beams, then I start by painting these same beams. I use several colors natural wood. I’m experimenting with a new material, oil wax.

The material is more difficult to apply than regular Tikkuril or Pinotex. It takes a long time to dry, is much more expensive, and is not sold everywhere, but the result is worth it.

After painting the beams, I paint and install the lining front side down.

Lining in different rooms different color. unconventional solutions. I use pine lining, Extra grade. This is when there are no knots at all.

This is what it looked like from above. You can only step in those places under which the beams pass, otherwise the lining will not support the weight of a person.

Wooden logs are treated with fire protection.

The process of installing lining on the boiler room ceiling

Isopan is laid on top of the lining. will lie on it mineral insulation and isospan will prevent mineral dust from entering the room. Logs are laid on top of the isospan - this is the basis of the future floor.

Them time goes by preparation of external platbands. They can be made from different materials and different in design. I make them from wood panels - they then don’t move or twist due to humidity.

This is what the window casing design looks like. In the center of the casing, on the right there is an extension, on the left there is plywood in the cut. Plywood is more for decoration. After its installation, it seems that the casing is made of thick timber and cut into logs. Without plywood, triangular slots remain on the sides of the casing. The whole thing is mounted in a sliding manner and does not collapse due to shrinkage of the house.

Well, almost the finished result. The only thing missing is ebb and flow plugs. I do not putty the screws that secure all the parts, but cover them with decorative wooden furniture plugs. They are sold on construction markets and can be of different diameters.

Then the inside started. There is a more meticulous approach and the painting material is oil wax, tested on beams. Different rooms have platbands of different colors.

I painted all the internal trims myself.

In parallel with the platbands there was interior painting. In different rooms different colors. This is, for example, a dressing room. All that remains is to make a yellow floor and the inscription above the door “Glory to Ukraine.” The only room in my house painted with a covering paint that covers the structure of the wood.

The main volume of the kitchen-living room-hallway-halls of the 1st and 2nd floors is painted in White color. At the same time, the structure of the tree is visible.

At the same time as painting, I am working on the sewer system. I'm installing a station biological treatment designed for the expected number of residents and plumbing fixtures.

A healthy fool digs into the ground.

Inside, the bacteria quickly process everything and at the exit, 98% purified water is discharged into the ditch. Some people use it for watering, but I have no use for it. The vital activity of bacteria and the technical process inside the installation are ensured by a special compressor and several pumps that transfer liquids from container to container.

Connects the installation to the home sewage pipe laid at a certain slope.

Let's go back to the house. Yellow trim for children's rooms

So are the walls. This photo clearly shows why the plywood is needed at the end of the casing.

Blue dressing room.

This is the future master's bathroom.

Hall 2 floors

I decided to leave a couple of rooms under clear varnish. Many people love just such walls in a wooden house.

This is what the dining area in the living room looks like.

And there will be a kitchen. Polystyrene foam insulation was very useful for concrete slab, which I purchased in advance. From these cubes it was possible to assemble forests of any configuration. like from a children's construction set.

I am designing my house as the play progresses in real time, not counting any drawings based on engineering communications. There are no beautiful pictures yet (except for 1 bathroom), so I’m a shoemaker without boots!

Everything described in this post took approximately 1 year. +worked at the same time

If there is a need for self-painting wooden doors, the task is quite easy to cope with if you have a certain tool on hand. What exactly you need depends on the material from which the canvas is made and the degree of damage.

Full wooden door (previously painted)

The simplest painting option is when it is made entirely of wood (without adding such modern materials, such as cardboard, MDF and veneer).

Therefore the process will look like this:

  • Carefully inspect the canvas. If you find visible defects (chips, peeling paint, etc.), you will have to start preparing first. This can be done either by removing the door from its hinges or by performing all the work right on the spot. For ease of work, it is better to remove the door handle.

  • So, first, take a spatula and remove any loose paint particles. Then go through the sandpaper to remove smaller peelings. Next, you will need wood putty, which can be used to remove pits on the door leaf. The putty should be applied in a layer of no more than 1 mm. If the defect is deeper, apply putty in several layers (but only after the previous layer has completely dried). Sand the dried putty.
  • The surface prepared in this way must first be primed (select a primer from the same manufacturer as the wood paint - this information can be checked with the seller in the store), and then covered with a layer of coloring composition. To avoid drips, it is better to use a roller or spray gun rather than a brush.

Door leaf with top layer of veneer

Painting veneered doors is, in principle, similar to painting completely wooden ones.

But there is one exception. The fact is that very often the veneer in the lower part of such doors peels off during operation. Therefore, first of all, it is necessary to carefully lift the peeled piece (without breaking), coat the canvas and the underside of the veneer with special wood glue, and then clamp it in clamps, placing boards or pieces of plywood on top of the glued areas (this will ensure a tight and even fit of the veneer) . This “operation” should be carried out on the door leaf removed and laid horizontally.

After the glue has dried, you can begin painting. For these purposes, tinting and wood-protecting compounds such as Pinotex are suitable.

For achievement desired color The door leaf can be painted several times, each time only after the previous layer has completely dried.

The coloring composition can be applied with a brush or roller. To add shine, coat the surface with a layer of wood varnish.

Wooden door made of bars

You should do things a little differently when it comes to painting wooden doors made from bars. They must not only be painted, but must also be covered with two or three layers of varnish, each time sanding the varnished surface. This technology will allow you to get an even layer of varnish, although the canvas itself may be a little “spotty”, since it is assembled from separate bars that have different porosities and therefore absorb the composition differently.

Painting the door frame and trim

It is clear that to remove door frame(without its subsequent replacement with a new one) will not work. Therefore, you will have to sand and paint it right on the spot. To avoid staining other surfaces in the process, seal them masking tape. The composition should be applied with a brush or small roller. The number of layers must match the number of layers on the door leaf (otherwise you may end up with a different shade).

But the platbands can be removed first (this will make them easier to paint). They also need to be sanded first and then covered with several layers of paint.

If you varnished the canvas, do not forget to repeat the same with the box and the trim.

Replacing the box

Often during restoration the best solution It’s not just painting, but also replacing the door frame (for example, if previously there was no threshold at the opening, but now it has become necessary). In this case, the bottom of the door leaf (about 1 centimeter) will need to be sawed off (for this would be better suited hand saw on wood). Then the cut should be sanded, and only after that the entire canvas can be covered with the first layer of paint.

The new door frame should also be painted using the same paint. But the number of layers will most likely have to be increased, since its original color may differ from the initial color.
