Ivan Stoletov built a wide variety of trellises and pergolas on his site, which perform not only decorative, but also utilitarian functions.

Shalers and pergolas are structures that are easy to make with your own hands and do not require a lot of time and materials for construction, provided, of course, a rational approach to this issue. At my dacha, these structures made it possible to ensure order, make caring for plants convenient, and most importantly, they do not take much time to maintain them in -working condition.

TRELLIS- a special lattice along which a plant climbs or to which tree branches are tied to give them a certain form. PERGOLA(Italian Pergola from Latin Perqula - canopy, extension) - in gardening: a canopy made of climbing plants to protect a passage or terrace from the scorching sun.

  • Pergola summer kitchen forms a green corridor on the way to the greenhouse.
  • Decorative vineyard on trellises at the entrance to the dacha.
  • Wooden lattice hanging trellises on the kitchen veranda.

What to make trellises and pergolas in the garden from?

Materials for making trellises and pergolas can be very diverse - brick, concrete, metal, plates, wood. If you want to do something similar with your own hands, first of all you need to determine the purpose of such a structure. For example, on my site (Fig. 1) there are several similar structures. Some of them are purely decorative: from the outside entrance gate to the dacha, at the entrance to the house and in front of the kitchen shed. Others are intended for growing white sweet grapes or to hide from view outbuildings(near the summer kitchen) and as elements of arranging recreation areas. And there are also universal ones that combine all these functions - near the greenhouse, pool, kitchen.

Different designs of pergolas and trellises

Depending on the purpose, I made different pergolas and trellises, which differ in design. Firstly, these are high, wind-resistant trellises of the external fence along the road and at the entrance gate. I made them from metal posts and tension cables.

At the entrance to the house I built a pergola using used drainpipes. Near the greenhouse and summer kitchen there are trellises made of thin-walled galvanized profiles, as well as lattice wooden hanging ones. For raspberry and blackberry bushes, greenhouse plants and climbing roses made combined designs.

On hot summer days, a pergola successfully serves as a gazebo or shady canopy over garden paths, where you can always enjoy the coolness. If the site is large, then several pergolas and trellises installed at different ends of the site will create beautiful landscape. And openwork decorative grilles can set others in a romantic mood at any time of the year and ensure a good mood.

Layout of pergolas and trellises on the site: 1 - trellis of the external fence; 2 - trellises for white grapes; 3 - pergola at the entrance to the house; 4 - wooden gratings; 5 - supports for raspberry bushes; 6 - supports for blackberry bushes; 7 - temporary support for Jerusalem artichoke; 8 - trellis for climbing roses.
  • Rice. 2. Installation of trellises for external fencing: 1 - fence posts made of steel pipes 0 80 mm; 2 - extreme posts of trellises made of steel pipes 0 40 mm; 3 - intermediate trellis posts made of steel pipes 0 25 mm; 4 - steel cables in a plastic sheath; 5 - lanyard; 6 - decorative cast iron sections fence; 7 - base of the fence made of rubble stone; 8 - steel wedge.
  • The grapes that have grown over the outer fence practically hide the trellises themselves.
  • Tensioning the cable on the trellises of the external fence using turnbuckles.

Do-it-yourself fencing of the site

The trellis installed on top of the outer fence is very simple in design. Since the fence posts are made from metal pipes 0 80 mm, I used them as a base, inserting trellis supports into them - steel pipes 0 40 mm. To firmly secure the support pipe inside the fence post, I pinched it with a metal wedge (Fig. 2). The length of the supports is approximately 2.5 m. I pulled cables between the supports, the tension of which was ensured with turnbuckles. Intermediate metal racks from pipes 0 25 mm installed in increments of approximately 3 m - this ensures rigidity and stability of the structure and prevents bending of the cable.

Pergolas for white grapes

White grapes, compared to dark grapes, are less climbing and grow less, and the yield is weaker, so there is less load on the trellises. This made it possible to use inexpensive, galvanized, lightweight trellises for the manufacture of trellises. steel profiles, intended for fastening drywall, and to ensure reliable resistance to strong winds (we also have hurricanes), I used simple but reliable technical techniques.

The rigidity and stability of the structure is ensured by metal roof purlins, which redistribute horizontal loads to separate, more powerful racks, reinforced with 0 4 mm steel pipes (Fig. 3). Important role also play the choice of step between the posts (approximately 80 cm) and reliable connection frame elements with self-tapping screws.

The pergola posts were installed in pre-dug holes 0.6 m deep, but were not concreted, but covered with gravel and stones and compacted. It took me several hours to install these pergolas.

1 - profile racks; 2 - horizontal crossbars; 3 - steel pipes 0 40 mm;
4 - self-tapping screw; 5 - cross beams from a light profile; 6 - longitudinal girders made of pipes and light profiles; 7 - stud with nuts.

DIY pergola at the entrance to the house

I made this plant support (Fig. 4) from water pipes 0 25 and 40 mm, but I also use it as scaffolding, that is, scaffolding for house maintenance (if necessary, wash or replace panels on the facade of the house). I concreted the bases of the posts in this structure.

Temporary trellises

I have sets of trellises for temporary use. I install them as needed and remove them in the fall. These are trellises for Jerusalem artichoke and individual bushes of climbing roses (Fig. 5). Jerusalem artichokes with a height of 3 m or more lose stability in strong winds and fall on the lawn. To protect the Jerusalem artichoke from lodging, and the lawn from fallen plants, which become moldy over time, I install supports around the end of July, when the plants gain a height of more than 2 m.

The design is simple and very convenient - it is a cable with loops at the ends, which I lift along two steel rods (something like a crowbar about 3 m high. The rods are driven into the ground at an angle of approximately 75 degrees, so when lifting the cable, the necessary tension is provided. To To disassemble such a trellis, all you need to do is hit the hinges with a hammer - and the cable itself falls to the ground.

Raspberries and blackberries

I made the supports for the raspberry and blackberry bushes from metal cables stretched between two horizontal guides (Fig. 6). Cables are stretched along each row of plantings. Metal horizontal guides are attached to support pipes that absorb all loads. All metal structures are made from used water pipes 0 40 mm. Considering that my raspberry and blackberry bushes are tall, I pulled the cables in two tiers vertically for each row: in this case, support is provided for the trunks and branches of both low-growing and tall bushes. Please note that it is necessary to securely fasten the outer posts - drive them into the ground to a depth of at least 1.2 m.

Greenhouse

The design of supports for plants in a greenhouse resembles the design of supports for raspberry and blackberry bushes - these are the same cables stretched between horizontal crossbars (Fig. 7) at the ends of the greenhouse. For the crossbars, steel pipes 0 40 mm were used. fixed at a height of approximately 2.2 m. At this height they do not interfere with passage and work in the greenhouse. The crossbars are attached with clamps to the powerful greenhouse posts in the corners.

I tighten the cables by tightening the nut on the tensioner bolt. If you loosen the cable tension, the tensioner can be moved along the cross member. This ensures the exact position of the cables over the rows of tomato or cucumber bushes. The garters of each bush, made of strong thin rope, are attached to cables and serve as guides for the plants.

Each cable is tied in two or three places to the metal truss of the greenhouse with a thin knitting wire. This prevents uneven bending of the cable during fruit ripening, when the weight of the green mass of the bushes increases significantly. Note that the height of tomato bushes reaches 2.5 m.
Summer kitchen trellises

I made wooden hanging lightweight screens (Fig. 8) for the summer kitchen canopy from waste wooden lining. Screens are not only here decorative element design: they serve as good wind protection and support for climbing plants.

It took me several hours to make and install all the decorative grilles. I sawed the clapboard boards into two equal strips 5 cm wide. I connected the diagonal and framing strips with nails (screws). To protect against precipitation, everything wooden elements covered protective impregnation on a varnish basis. The trellises were attached to the canopy parts (beams at the top, cast iron fence at the bottom) with mounting metal tape and 6 mm wire hooks.

Rice. 4. Pergola at the entrance to the house: 1 - fence post; 2 - pergola stand made of pipe 0 80 mm; 3 - longitudinal run; 4 - pergola beams made of 25 mm pipes.

Rice. 5. Collapsible support for Jerusalem artichoke: 1 - steel reinforcement 30 mm; 2 - cable.

Rice. 6. Scheme of supports for raspberries and blackberries: 1 - stand made of steel pipe 0 40 mm; 2 - crossbars made of steel pipes 40 mm; 3 - cables in a plastic sheath; 4 - lanyards.

Rice. 7. Construction of a frame for gartering plants in a greenhouse: 1 - crossbar made of steel pipe 0 40 mm; 2 - cables in a plastic sheath; 3 - device for tensioning the cable; 4 - greenhouse frame transom, used for suspended structure from cables; 5 - pendant made of knitting wire.

Rice. 8. Installation of a decorative grille for a summer kitchen canopy: 1 - strips 50 mm wide; 2 - tying the grid from strips 50 mm wide.

Trellis for climbing roses.

Flowers

For tall climbing roses I use several types of trellises. The most popular is a trellis consisting of aluminum tubes (waste from the reconstruction of a greenhouse). Attached to them plastic mesh, to which I tie the plant.

In conclusion, I will say that I made all the structures based on purely practical considerations. On special design they make no claims, but nevertheless, in spring and summer the entire area turns out to be green, not inferior in design to estates with expensive branded structures.

The need for fencing and tying up currant bushes arises 4-5 years after planting the seedling. By this time, the bush has already formed more than 20 shoots, which are actively growing and at the moment of fruiting begin to touch the soil. This situation negatively affects both the harvest and the shoots themselves. As a result of contact with wet soil, they may begin to develop fungal diseases, and pests living in the soil spread to the green part of the bush.

This can be avoided by simple tying or fencing. Such events not only protect the culture, but also contribute to the formation of the correct crown shape, and also give everything personal plot beautiful aesthetic appearance.

Requirements for bush holders

The choice of bush holder design depends not only appearance plants, but also its development, therefore to this species devices, a number of requirements are put forward:

How to make it yourself

Many gardeners do not buy fencing for shrubs, preferring to make them with my own hands, or use . At the same time, they can choose not only optimal design, but also to choose the materials and design they need.

Making a bush holder yourself is not difficult, especially since there are more than enough materials for its manufacture.

Pipe supports

Metal, plastic or polypropylene pipes can be purchased at any hardware or plumbing store. Read also about grafting currants onto cherries.

Often, zealous owners still have old materials after overhaul at home or cottage. All this can be put to use by making original, durable, and most importantly, inexpensive bush holders for currants.

Plastic

By using plastic pipes You can make a simple, reliable and completely aesthetic design. For this you will need:

  • fiberglass reinforcement 4-5 mm thick (4-5 m long);
  • plastic pipes, cut into 7 pieces of 0.5 m each;
  • plugs for pipes.

In each of the 7 supports, holes are drilled at a distance of 4 cm from the edge through which fiberglass reinforcement is threaded. The supports are installed evenly along the entire perimeter of the bush, the reinforcement is aligned parallel to the ground, and the pipe holes are closed with plugs. Everything is simple and fast. Find out about green currant varieties.

Polypropylene

Lightweight and inexpensive polypropylene pipes can also be an excellent fencing material. To build a support you will need:

  • 4 corner tees;
  • 4 - 4.5 meters of plastic pipes of medium diameter.

The pipe section is divided into 8 parts of 50 cm each. Next, with the help of “tees”, the structure is assembled into a cube without a base.

The height of the stand can be adjusted at your own discretion, but this will affect the amount of source material.

For greater strength, the fastening points are glued together with hot glue or secured with screws. This bush holder will last a long time and will not spoil the appearance of the bush.

Metal

Metal fences attract people with their durability. They are more durable and reliable. In order to make such a device, it is necessary to prepare 4-5 pieces of metal pipes 45-50 cm high, as well as slats, fittings or any other type of fencing.

Metal pegs are driven into the ground around the perimeter of the bush, and then slats or reinforcement are attached to them using self-tapping screws. The top of the pipe should be covered with a fitting to prevent moisture and dirt from entering the cavity.

Metal-plastic

Metal-plastic pipes – universal material. It combines reliability metal products with the ease of polypropylene. You can purchase green pipes, the fencing of which will not be noticeable. About the best varieties find out blackcurrant from.

To make a bush holder from metal-plastic you need:

  • hose (2 pieces of 10-15 cm each);
  • metal-plastic pipes (4-5 m);
  • screwdriver;
  • screws;
  • small pegs made of wood that match the diameter of the pipes;
  • hammer.

2 rings of the same diameter are constructed from part of the pipe. It is possible to manufacture an expanding structure. Then the diameter of the upper ring will be larger. The ends of the pipes are connected using pieces of rubber hose. When choosing a hose, you need to make sure that its diameter matches the diameter of the pipe, which should fit tightly into the hose hole.

Leg-stands 70-80 cm high are made from the remaining part of the metal-plastic pipe. For greater stability, up to 5 stands can be made. Pegs-sleeves are inserted into the holes of the pipes, onto which the first hoop ring is attached using a screwdriver. The second circle is fixed at a distance of 40-50 cm from it with shurpas. The result is a fairly high stand that reliably and firmly holds the side currants.

Fences made of pegs and branches

One of the most simple fencing, which you can make with your own hands, is considered a bush holder made from ordinary wooden pegs or branches. Both wooden and metal constructions. And they can be easily removed.

With iron base

The design, which is based on an iron support, is simple to manufacture. For one such bush holder you will need 4-5 metal rods or scraps of old pipes and twine. The rods are driven into the ground around the bush and tied on top with twine.

Wooden

This type of device is also very simple. From wooden block 4-5 pegs of 60 cm are cut, and then evenly installed around the perimeter of the bush. A flexible wire, or preferably thick twine, is attached to the supports on top, as it is not capable of injuring the branches.

The bushes are also fenced with branches of fruit trees in the form of spears. To do this, you need to select branches of the same size, drive them into the soil around the currants, and place even, strong slats or the same branches in the natural recesses. For greater strength, you can secure them with twine.

When working with wood, you must remember that it is susceptible to weather conditions, as well as insects, so pegs and slats are treated with an antiseptic solution and coated with varnish or paint. Such measures will significantly extend the service life of wooden fences.

Purchased

Today you can buy bush holders in any specialized store, hypermarket and even on the Internet. Most often you can find metal and plastic structures on sale. The range is wide not only in design and color, but also in shape, design and price. He will tell you about pruning red and white currants.

Metal fencing

Metal bush holders enjoy a well-deserved reputation for reliable and durable fencing. They vary in height, number of supports and shape of the base. The latter can be round, square or rectangular. Round fences are the most popular because they are easy to work with and follow the natural shape of the bush. As for color, the most popular designs are black, green and gray. Special spraying protects products from rust and moisture. Read about planting currants in the fall.

Particularly worth mentioning are the forged bush holders. Most often they are made to order in order to support the overall landscape design plot. They are more expensive, but they also look more original and impressive.

Plastic stands

You can also fence bushes with plastic supports. They are lighter and are often presented in disassembled form, so that they are more convenient to transport. Just like metal ones, plastic fencing Most often they are green and black. They are easy to assemble, cheaper in cost, but also less reliable. They also do not take up much space, which is why other crops are also suitable.

If the service life of metal products reaches several decades, then plastic products are at most 6-8 years.

Benefits of use

The use of fencing allows not only to protect the crop, but also gives the bush the opportunity to develop correctly. Similar designs have long been used by gardeners, due to the benefits such as:

  • aesthetics(the bush does not lie spread out on the ground, but maintains a neat shape);
  • ease of harvesting(no need to lift every branch in search of a bunch of currants);
  • preservation of berries(without constant contact with moist soil, rot does not develop);
  • uniform growth up, not to the sides;
  • minimizing damage from heavy rains and strong winds.

  1. and bush holders must be durable and securely fix the bush.
  2. Supports protect the crop from death and the bush from disease, form the crown and set the direction of growth.
  3. Metal fencing is more durable than plastic and wood, but also more expensive.
  4. You can make any fencing structure yourself, spending a minimum of material and time.
  5. When making wooden supports, do not forget about special treatment wood

The process of growing currants on your own summer cottage- This is a rather labor-intensive task. It would seem that there is nothing complicated in each of the stages of caring for this plant. However, if you do not provide everything correctly, and even bypass some requirements, count on bountiful harvest you probably won't have to. Special attention should be given to the formation of bushes berry plant. Most domestic farmers modern stage use special supports for currants. They are various types, so you should take a closer look at which one will be for you the best option.

Why do bushes need support?

Currants on a trellis are a shrub, the direction of growth of shoots of which sometimes needs to be adjusted. For example, a plant develops quite normally, but during the period of formation and ripening of berries, the branches begin to bend under their weight. In this case, it is necessary to take care of the currant bushes and build a special support for them. Moreover, it is not only currants that need such “maintenance” of shape. This kind of frames is also used for other shrubs: raspberries, viburnums, blackberries, gooseberries. Sometimes they are used to create a neat shape for bushy flowers (roses or peonies).

If we take a closer look at the key advantages of adaptation, these include, first of all, the compactness of plants.

Having a support will allow you to significantly save space in your garden. In addition, a rather important advantage is also correct formation crowns of plants. Therefore, the bush holder for currants is necessary equipment, which every gardener will certainly appreciate.

Benefits of currant propping

Why is it worth using bush stands in gardening? With their help, you can arrange the shrubs correctly. Typically, farmers use similar devices, since this provides several advantages at once:

  • the branches of the bushes grow upward and do not “lay down” on the ground. In this case, the plant will continue to develop fully, but will not grow chaotically. You are getting decorative look bush, and in the future it will be much easier for you to harvest from it. Moreover, in autumn period you without unnecessary problems cultivate the soil around the bush;
  • berries ripening on currant branches will not fall down. That is, you will eventually harvest clean fruits, and they will not rot, which often happens when the berries touch wet ground;
  • the harvesting process will be significantly simplified;
  • Heavy rains or strong winds can cause much less damage to shrubs.

The benefits of currant fertilizers will certainly influence the decision of an experienced farmer. The main thing is that the efforts you make do not go in vain, so purchasing a support or building one at home is very important. We are talking about productivity indicators and the health of currant bushes, so you have something to worry about.

5 ways to make it yourself

Making supports for currants with your own hands is not too difficult. Of course, such devices can be freely purchased in specialized stores. But why spend extra money if you can easily build an equally effective frame at home? The main thing is to understand the main varieties of these items, and also determine which of the stands will be the best option specifically for your currant bushes.

Making a stand from wooden pegs is considered to be a fairly simple method to implement. If you follow all the recommendations of specialists correctly, such a device will become your faithful assistant for at least several years. Pegs must be driven into the ground around the bush. Use 4-5 pieces. Next, wire or strong twine is attached to the resulting supports. Another similar method is the use of spears. They are driven around the bush, and then even branches are placed on top. Very often, strong branches cut from fruit tree.

Metal stands are considered in demand among experienced gardeners. To do this, use scraps of metal pipes. They play the role of pegs: they are driven into the ground, and then slats are attached to this structure. All this is ultimately secured with self-tapping screws. Plastic supports for currant bushes are also widely used. It is durable and at the same time has a decorative appearance.

Seemingly damaged solar lanterns can also be used in gardening. Usage of this material will allow you to build a completely stable structure, but it will not be suitable for too heavy loads. However, if you need to install a support for young currant bushes, plastic construction- not a bad solution.

The most decorative and at the same time quite durable support is considered to be made from metal-plastic pipes. It is recommended to cut them into three equal parts. The remaining material is converted into two circles. It is best to purchase green pipes: in this way, the structure you make will blend in with the green currant foliage. Remember: currants on a homemade trellis are perfect solution for any gardener.

Video “Supports, supports, garters for garden shrubs”

From this video you will learn how to make high-quality supports, supports and garters for garden shrubs yourself.

The currant bush has a spreading shape. Its lower branches descend to the ground. As a result, the berries are in damp soil, which leads to their rotting. To get a rich harvest, experienced gardeners use bush stands. There are several common ways to fence currants with your own hands.

The use of such specialized supports in the country has a number of advantages:

  • neat, decorative form plants;
  • increase in productivity;
  • improving the quality of berries (preservation from dirt and mold);
  • simplification of fruit collection;
  • easier care of shrubs (it’s easier to prune old shoots, weed and loosen the soil);
  • additional protection from animals (birds and rodents);
  • strengthening from rain and strong gusts of wind.

Supports are sold in garden stores. However, you can fence currants with your own hands.

Fencing currants with your own hands

Support made of pegs and twine

The simplest fencing option for currant bushes is made of pegs and twine. If the structure is completed in good faith, it will last for several seasons. For this fence you will need:

  • 5 stakes of such length that they rise above the soil by about 0.5 m (more stakes are used to support a powerful, spreading bush);
  • twine (you can use wire or twine instead).

Peg support

Stakes are placed around the currant at such a distance as not to damage the roots. Then the twine is fixed on one of the pegs. Selecting the branches to the desired height, secure it to the next support. In this way, they go around the entire bush, lifting the shoots and tying the twine to the stakes. It turns out to be an improvised fence.

Fence made of slingshots and simple branches

A fence for currants made of slingshots and simple branches is one of the most budget-friendly structures. Rogatina can be made from unnecessary branches of a fruit tree on your site or found in the forest. If not found suitable material, then you can make it yourself from boards.

The reverse end of the spear should be sharpened to make it easier to stick it into the ground. If the fence does not hold well in the ground, it can be secured with additional pegs. It is desirable that the branching angle of the spear be wide enough. Then the branch that will be attached from above will be able to fit tightly into its base.

Four spears are installed around the bush at the required height. Dry, strong branches are placed on top of the fork. Then they should be tied with rope or wire.

Additional Information. In the fall, such a support can be easily disassembled until the next season. In order for the product to be used for a long time, it must be dried and disinfected. The disadvantage of this fence is its low resistance to strong gusts of wind. Additional fixation of the slingshots with pegs is required.

Iron-based bush holders

Metal fencing is durable and has a long service life. To create it, you need scraps of metal pipes, wooden slats or bars.

Pipe supports are installed around the bush. Small wooden rods are fixed in their holes. You can use unnecessary sticks. Flat boards and slats are laid on top of them, which are then fixed with self-tapping screws.

Instead of bars, slats and boards, you can fence using metal wire. To do this, measure the gap between the iron supports. Add another 20 cm to a wire of this length. The ends of the resulting segment are bent 10 cm on each side and inserted into the holes of the pipes. Fencing using wire should be wrapped soft rubber so as not to injure the branches.

They also use protective rings made of iron, fastened with a bolt. These hoops are fixed to supports using hooks. The rings are put on top of the bushes in the spring before the leaves appear.

To give a decorative look, the bush holder can be painted. It is recommended to use paint to protect the metal from rust.

Bush holders made of plastic pipes

Currant fences made of plastic look decorative. They are comparable in strength to metal structures. To create them you will need PVC pipes 4 meters long and 4 corners for connecting the pipes.

Assembling the currant fence begins with cutting the pipes into 8 equal parts. If the bush is tall, then longer pipes are taken to make the structure higher. You can cut it with a hacksaw or a pipe cutter. 4 plastic supports are placed around the bush. They are connected to each other using the remaining plastic pieces and “triangles”, secured with screws or an iron for soldering propylene pipes.

Bush holder

Gardeners who are interested in how to properly fence a currant bush can use fiberglass composite reinforcements with a diameter of 4 mm or a stranded single-core wire in single insulation about 5 m long. They are pulled through holes in the supports.

Bush holder made of plastic pipes – lightweight design. For better balance, you should stick it deeper into the ground.

Bush holder made of metal-plastic pipes

A metal-plastic support is one of the most durable and decorative.

1 way

To make a currant fencing with your own hands, you need the following materials:

  • metal-plastic pipe;
  • nails or screws;
  • a piece of rubber hose;
  • pieces of wood;
  • hand saw;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver

First, supports are made from the pipe by cutting 3 equal parts of approximately 80 cm each. For greater stability of the fence, you can build a larger number of stakes.

Then two identical hoops are made from the remaining pipe. To connect the pipes, use pieces of hose 10-20 cm long. The diameter of the hose must be carefully selected so that the metal-plastic does not dangle and fits tightly.

Metal-plastic pipe

Wooden pieces are hammered into the openings of the supports. Using nails or self-tapping screws, the top hoop is attached to these wooden pegs. The lower circle is fixed to the supports through pipes or simply put on the lower part using wire for fastening. After installing the bush holder, the lower hoop should be located at a height of 20-30 cm from the ground surface.

To ensure that the design is not conspicuous and harmonizes with the bush, it is recommended to use green materials.

Method 2

Before you make such a fence for currants yourself, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • metal-plastic pipe;
  • polypropylene pipe;
  • "tees";
  • machine for welding plastic pipes (soldering iron);
  • a piece of hose.

A hoop is constructed from metal-plastic. 3-5 supports are made from polypropylene. Then “tees” are soldered to the supports. Racks with tees are put on the hoop and evenly distributed. The ends of the hoop are fixed with a piece of hose. The posts can be installed on metal pegs driven into the ground. Then the structure will be the most stable.

Wooden fencing

You can protect a currant bush in your dacha using wooden slats. A bush holder made of natural materials will not only serve as a support for currants, but will also harmonize well with the local landscape.

To make this fence you will need:

  • 4 pegs 70 cm long;
  • narrow slats for a garden fence (they can be cut from timber) measuring 100 cm in length;
  • hammer;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • screwdriver

Pegs are hammered around the bush. They can be treated in advance with an anti-moisture and rotting agent.

Wooden fencing

Important! The pegs must be driven in perpendicularly, otherwise the structure will lose stability.

Check that the supports are at the same height. Then, using self-tapping screws, the planks are secured to the pegs. Wooden fencing can be painted green or some other color bright color. Some summer residents prefer coverage yacht varnish, which not only protects from moisture, but also adds decorativeness to products.

Each summer resident chooses what kind of fencing he wants to make for currant bushes with his own hands. This takes into account practicality, durability, availability of available materials and ease of manufacture.

The cheapest options from the considered fencing: from pegs and twine, from slings and branches. These bush holders are not so reliable in bad conditions. weather conditions, but reassembling them will not be difficult. In addition, they are easy to disassemble. This means they can be used for the next season.

A fence made of wooden slats using self-tapping screws is already more solid. It looks more presentable than the previous options. This non-demountable design. The disadvantage is that if it is not removed for the winter, then large quantities snow it may break. And if you try to remove it in the fall, you can break the grown branches.

The iron-based currant fence is strong and solid. However, it is susceptible to corrosion. And the wire, if not wrapped with soft rubber, can injure the shoots.

Bush holders made of plastic pipes are neat and reliable. Only such structures should be built from thick materials, otherwise in winter they may break under a layer of snow, and under the influence low temperatures will become fragile.

Fences made of metal-plastic pipes are considered the most durable, decorative and expensive. However, a gardener who has allowed himself such luxury will enjoy such a fence for currants for many years and will justify the investment in it.

Specialized supports are important not only for currants, but also for growing ornamental and fruit and berry bushes. Such stands are suitable for viburnum, gooseberries, raspberries, and blackberries. They need them and ornamental plants: roses, hydrangeas, mock orange.
