It immediately became our favorite vacation spot. In the evenings there are tea parties, on weekends - family dinners. The only negative was the lack of furniture. We had to carry chairs from the house to the gazebo and back, which, you see, is not very convenient. Moreover, this happened every day. To eliminate this small uncomfortable component of our country life, it was decided to make wooden benches and leave them in the gazebo forever.

We decided to make them ourselves and install them along the inner perimeter so that they would not take up much space, and at the same time the benches could accommodate maximum amount guests.

DO-It-yourself gazebo bench

To make the seats, we used boards 35 mm thick and 15 cm wide. We cut them to the length of the wall where we will install them and process them with an electric planer.

To make it comfortable to sit on the benches, round the edges milling machine and sand thoroughly with fine-grain sandpaper.

Now let’s take a beam measuring 5 by 5 cm, cut it to the length of the boards for the bench, process it with an electric planer and put it aside for now.

From the same timber we cut two pieces 40 cm long. From timber measuring 50 by 30 mm we cut 5 pieces and cut off the corners on one side. These will be the stops for the boards under the seats.

We will also cut off 5 bars 50 cm long and cut off the corners on both sides. From these we will make spacers for.

All elements are ready, we send them for painting with varnish to match the color of the gazebo.

When the parts are dry, we will begin installing the bench. First of all, we will screw a 5 by 5 cm beam to the pillars of the gazebo at a height of 40 cm from the floor. To install it parallel to the floor, we will use a building level.

Along the edges, so that the timber does not sag or bend, we will install 2 supports. We attach them to the floor with self-tapping screws through the mounting angles. Let's check the vertical.

On top of the beam, 70 cm apart, we will screw the stops on which the benches will rest.

To ensure that the stops hold tightly, we will place a special spacer under each one. First, screw the bottom edge to the , then align the stop horizontally and attach the top part of the spacer to it.

All that remains is to lay the benches on the stops and screw them with self-tapping screws. By making a gap between the boards, we will increase the seating area. To prevent the heads of the screws from sticking out from the top of the bench, we screw them from below, through the mounting corners. The length of the screws, accordingly, should be shorter than the thickness of the boards. The bench for the gazebo, which we made with our own hands, is ready.

Having in your possession country cottage area, I want to arrange it with the highest comfort. For many, the gazebo is a place for relaxing tea and gathering guests. Well, a table made of wood will perfectly fulfill its intended purpose, and will fit perfectly into the given space. This article will talk about how to make wooden tables and benches for a gazebo.

Making something with your own hands means not only saving on purchasing finished product, but also to delight the soul with the result obtained. In addition, this approach allows you to design wooden furniture for gazebos according to the area of the building, thereby solving the issue of arrangement with maximum efficiency.

The tabletop can have absolutely different shapes(round, oval, square, octagonal, etc.), the main thing is that you have enough skills home handyman. Anyone familiar with carpentry can skip the lectures on the purpose of a particular tool and safety rules when working with them.

Wood for garden furniture

  • When selecting material, special attention is paid to its quality. Wooden parts should not be damaged by insects or fungi. The most even lumber will allow assembly to be carried out easily and quickly. In addition, this will reduce wood consumption (no large scraps).
  • Conifers have a natural softness, they can be easily processed and have an aesthetically attractive appearance. appearance. However, the resins released will ruin both the clothes of the people sitting at the table and the festive tablecloth.
  • Wooden tables and benches from hardwood the most profitable option. The table will be strong and durable. The most preferred lumber is obtained from pear, cherry, larch, birch, and ash. It should be remembered that wood changes its original shade over time.

Wood processing

  • Protective compounds must be applied both before and after installation. Such measures will help preserve the rich texture and increase the service life of the finished structure.
  • The treatment will ensure the moisture resistance of the wood and maintain natural vapor permeability natural material. Protection is especially important for this piece of furniture, given its permanent location outdoors.
  • It should be remembered that if during the assembly process the components of the structure are adjusted, the sawed areas are also processed.

DIY wooden tables for the gazebo

  • Before starting work, do not neglect such a stage as preparation. The table is a structure consisting of two main elements - the table top and support legs. The first step is to draw up a sketch of the future creation, in which all the details will be noted, as well as their size and location.
  • Think over and prepare wood, tools, painting materials and fasteners in advance, so that at the most crucial moment you don’t have to run around the neighbors in search of the necessary things or go to the nearest hardware store.

Material. Tool. Fasteners

  • Procurement of all components of the structure is carried out on the basis of the drawn up project. When choosing the size and shape of a table, it is important to rely not only on personal preferences, but also take into account similar indicators of the gazebo.
  • This item should not interfere with the free passage of people; here we mean the distance between the table top and the seating areas. Round and oval tables look great in polygonal gazebos. But many, choosing between aesthetics and practicality, prefer standard square or rectangular tables.

  • If the geometry of the tabletop may be futuristic, then the height of the table must be treated more rationally. The optimal indicator is considered to be 70-75 cm. In this case, the height of the seating areas should be in the range of 42-47 cm.
  • The thickness of the boards for the tabletop is 3 cm. This parameter will allow you to assemble a durable surface, without deflection, even under high loads. The width of the lumber can be from 15 to 20 cm. Ready-made panels, which are sold in some hardware stores or carpentry shops, will help simplify assembly work.
  • For the legs, 5x5 cm bars are taken. If you want to make a table with a hint of a masterpiece, then you can purchase figured balusters.

You will also need the following construction tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • saw, jigsaw;
  • sanding machine, sandpaper of different grain sizes;
  • level, square;
  • marker, pencil;
  • glue, screws (6x30 mm and 4.8x50 mm).

The first stage of assembling a table into a wooden gazebo

  • All wooden elements are processed with a plane. The surface is brought to perfect condition grinder. For hard to reach places sheet sandpaper is used. Thus, all irregularities, scratches, and burrs are removed.
  • As a result, the components future design should be smooth and even. All sides of the lumber need to be processed; the ends and corners are not ignored.
  • To create a higher quality countertop, it is better to buy tongue and groove boards. They will allow you to assemble the shield without gaps, while eliminating the labor-intensive work of adjusting individual parts.
  • It is recommended to chamfer the edges of the bars used as support legs.

Assembling the tabletop

  • The frame gives strength and stability to the entire product. The boards for the frame should be approximately 30 cm shorter in length and width relative to the same parameters of the tabletop.

  • The outer frame is formed by 4 boards (2 short and 2 long). Using a square, first place a short board for the frame on the edge at an angle of 90 degrees, attach a leg to it and fasten it with self-tapping screws. Next, connect the second support from the other edge of the board.
  • The second pair of legs is fastened in the same way. Then long frame boards are attached to the blanks. Fastening can be done directly with self-tapping screws or using metal corners, securely fastening the entire structure.
  • To avoid possible splitting of the material, you can pre-drill guide holes into which the screws are screwed. The heads of the fasteners must be completely recessed into the wood.
  • Along the length of the frame, points for attaching crossbars are marked in the boards. Special attention is given to the perpendicular arrangement of the planks relative to the frame. You may need from 4 to 6 pieces depending on the length of the table.
  • Boards for the tabletop are laid on a flat surface outside down. They need to be temporarily fixed for more easy work. You can achieve reliable fastening to each other by first coating the ends of the boards with glue.

  • Next, place the crossbars in at least three places (at the edges and in the middle). Pick up optimal length self-tapping screws so that their ends do not “crawl out” from the front surface of the tabletop.
  • Turning the tabletop over front side down and fix the previously prepared frame with legs.

Wood furniture finishing

  • At the end of assembly, depending on the design, the corners are cut or rounded with an electric jigsaw. Chamfers are cut from the edges of the tabletop. All screws are tightened as necessary. The structure is polished. Scratches that appear during the work are repaired with wood putty.

  • Dust and chips are removed after finishing sanding. The table is vacuumed or blown, and then wiped with a slightly damp cloth. The product is covered with stain or several layers of transparent varnish. The latter option will highlight the natural beauty of wood.
  • Excellent decoration country table decoupage or single painting will be performed. But hiding the rich texture under a layer oil paint just a crime. The necessary protection Special impregnations and modern paints and varnishes will provide excellent results.

Tables and benches for gazebos made of stumps

  • Will help emphasize the country mood interesting option making a table for round gazebo, where instead standard legs a stump is used. In this case, the tabletop should be round or oval.
  • The thickness of boards with such support can be 20 mm. It is important to follow the rule here: the larger the tabletop, the thicker the board.
  • An old, well-dried stump without rot (the type of tree does not matter) is covered with clear varnish. This approach will emphasize the best way texture and other advantages of natural material.
  • If the stump has been cut recently, it must be thoroughly dried. You can use a warm, dry room or use sunny weather and leave it in an open, well-ventilated area. The drying process takes about 2 months.
  • The base for the future table is cleared of bark using a chisel, chisel or chisel. The work is carried out carefully, trying not to damage the wood itself. Protruding rhizomes and other unsightly parts are cut off with a hacksaw.

  • Next, the stump is leveled horizontally. Building level will help at this stage, all defects are eliminated with a regular plane. Here you need an absolutely flat surface, because it serves as the basis for installing the countertop.
  • The stump is sanded mechanized way, inaccessible areas are cleaned manually using coarse-grained sandpaper. You should have a lot of patience. A “tricky” foundation will take a lot of time, but the resulting result will exceed all expectations.
  • If the width of the stump allows, then in its upper part you can make two recesses to match the parameters of two perpendicularly located boards. The latter will serve for more reliable fixation of the tabletop and stability of the entire structure as a whole.
  • The boards that form the tabletop are held together with glue and crossbars. A circle or oval is drawn on the outside. Through electric jigsaw it is given its final form. The surface and cuts are sanded and treated with impregnations, varnishes, etc.
  • The tabletop is attached using nails or self-tapping screws carefully selected in length. Fixation is carried out from the outside, so the caps must be recessed in the wood. The resulting dots can be hidden with putty that matches the shade of the wood as closely as possible.
  • To prevent the varnish from peeling and ensure more high-quality application subsequent layers, it is recommended that after the first layer the product is thoroughly dried and then treated with fine sandpaper.

Transformable table-bench

When folded, such a product looks like a narrow table, but when unfolded it allows you to place a large number of Human. Its manufacture will require a more professional approach.

  • It is impossible to do without a preliminary plan and careful calculation. Here the location of the support legs in the assembled and unfolded state is calculated. The drawing marks the places where parts are attached, fold lines, etc. important points, facilitating subsequent assembly.
  • A responsible approach to each stage of work will allow you to achieve the desired result, which will bring both benefits and aesthetic pleasure. Even from the trash stored in utility room long years you can create beautiful furniture for gazebos made of wood. The main thing is that it doesn’t turn out exactly the opposite.

You can demonstrate your abilities in creative work by starting with simple designs. Models in the minimalist style are always in trend. In addition, such products are perfectly used as a piece of furniture for any needs of a country house. Having gained experience, masters can move on to more complex ideas. Carved legs, tabletop of non-standard geometry, inserts from various materials and other decorative elements will help you fully express and unleash your full creative potential.

A gazebo without furniture is like cheese without milk and sausage without meat. There is no benefit to it in such a performance. You won't rest in it after working day and you won’t be able to have get-togethers with friends. That is why the arrangement of a gazebo should be taken seriously. If you want to save money, then, in principle, you can always make furniture for the gazebo with your own hands. How to implement this? This will be discussed in the article.

How the garden chairs and table in the gazebo will look largely depends on how the constructed structure looks, namely the materials from which it is made and its configuration. So, furniture can be:

  1. Portable or built-in. It's up to you to make built-in furniture during the construction of the gazebo or after completing this process. You can also make a built-in table with portable chairs/benches or vice versa. It all depends on your preferences. If you decide to install built-in furniture, then you should take into account the fact that the distance between the table and the bench should be within 5–10 cm.
  2. From different materials. For example, if the gazebo is wooden, then to achieve harmony, tables and chairs should be made of wood. And if the frame of the building is made of metal, then the bases of the table and chairs must be appropriate.
  3. WITH different widths benches. A person with normal weight will feel comfortable on a bench 40–60 cm wide. If you and your family members do not have problems with excess weight, then you can make benches of this width. Well, if this is not the case, then it is better to add a few centimeters to the proposed width.
  4. Different configurations. If you have a hexagonal gazebo, then the best option for its arrangement there will be a hexagonal or octagonal table. Another option is to make the table round. In a rectangular gazebo, it is better to install a rectangular or oval table. That is, the configuration of the table should correspond as much as possible to the shape of the gazebo.

A table is an essential item in a gazebo. Of course you can buy plastic table, which is low in cost, but it is much more pleasant to make this design yourself. You can make furniture High Quality, By affordable price and according to the design you like.

Before making a table/chairs for the gazebo, you should purchase the appropriate building materials. The easiest way is to take big log, cut it in half horizontally, process it with a plane and install it on the appropriate leg. But this solution may not be practical. Therefore, we suggest you build a table from boards and beams. The result is a strong and stable structure.

It is important to do all measurements and preparation of parts very carefully. It is better to make a table from expensive quality wood. Before you start purchasing and slicing wooden elements, draw a drawing of the table on paper. Put dimensions on it, which will allow you to calculate the amount of material with maximum accuracy.

First make the tabletop. Alternatively, assemble it from boards or use a ready-made furniture board. Optimal size boards for making countertops – 75×25 mm. To prevent the tabletop from loosening, attach several guide bars to it on the back side. The easiest way to secure them is with self-tapping screws.

If you position the guides diagonally, you will be able to make drawer. You can store various little things in it.

So, to make a box under the tabletop in the middle of the long edge of the table, fasten 2 beams with a cross-section of 50x50 mm. The distance between the bars should be 30 cm. C inside fix 2 strips of beams. These will serve as drawer guides. It's time to make a box of the appropriate width, that is, equal to 30 cm. Stuff the same 2 strips on the sides of the box and strips corresponding to its width in the front and back. Place the drawer under the countertop.

If the table is mobile, then all you need to complete its construction is to install 4 durable legs. But, in cases where the table is built-in, a foundation must be installed in advance to install it. It can be concrete or brick. A simpler solution is to make stable, strong legs, dig them in and concrete them.

The table frame should be 15–30 cm smaller than the tabletop. This should be taken into account when installing the legs.

If massive beams were chosen as legs for the built-in table, then before installing them in the recesses, the wood should be treated with a special protective composition from rotting. Then install them, check verticality, fix and fill the solution. To make the table stable, you need to wait a few days until the concrete hardens.

The optimal height of the table is 75–80 cm. This means that the height of the legs depends on the thickness of the tabletop.

Before screwing the screws and installing the mounting corners, lubricate the fastening points with an adhesive, for example, PVA with fine sawdust.

Next you need to attach the tabletop to the legs. Sand the table and apply an antiseptic to it, and then a fire retardant. After the table has dried, you can open it with varnish or paint it. Apply paintwork in several layers. The structure is ready.

The gazebo can be equipped not only with benches, but also with chairs or sofas. You can make any of the listed seating products from leftovers after construction. For example, you can build a seat and back from the remains of wood, and the support of a chair/bench from stone.

Benches can be installed on both sides of the tabletop. In this case, they must match the length of the table. They can also be installed around the perimeter, so that all vacationers can see each other during communication.

For convenience, the table can be made folding or not installed at all. So, to make a bench without a back you will need:

  • wooden seat;
  • 4 legs;
  • fastener

like this a simple bench can be done in just a few hours. To make it, you just need to connect the wooden seat with the legs. The principle of operation here is the same as when making a table with timber legs.

To make a wooden folding chair you will need:

  • screwdriver/drill;
  • plane;
  • jigsaw;
  • chisel;
  • sander;
  • groove cutters;
  • drills for making holes of various diameters;
  • wood screws with a length of 7 cm and a diameter of 8–10 mm;
  • varnish/paint.

Beam with a section of 25×40:

  • for a long leg – 91 cm long, 2 pcs.;
  • for a short leg – length 55.7 cm, 2 pcs.;
  • for sitting – length 31.5 cm, 2 pcs.;
  • length 34 cm, 6 pcs.;
  • for the back – 42 cm long, 1 pc.;
  • for jumper – 34 cm, 1 pc.

Jumper with a diameter of 18 mm, a length of 34 cm – 3 pcs.

  • card loop for attaching to the back leg of the chair and the bottom of the seat – 2 pcs.;
  • bolts Ø=8 mm, length 70 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • washers for Ø=8 mm – 6 pcs.;
  • furniture dowels Ø=10 mm, length 50 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • cap nuts – 4 pcs.;
  • waterproof glue for working with wood;
  • pin Ø=8 mm, length 470 mm with double-sided thread.

First of all, make an action plan and draw a drawing. Cut out the blanks according to the dimensions. You need to drill holes in them and make grooves with a milling cutter. Assemble the connections in this order:

  1. On the support block, insert the slats into the groove with a tenon.
  2. Glue the parts together.
  3. Insert furniture dowels into the holes at the ends of the seat, which are 30 mm deep.

On next stage assemble the chair frame:

  • You need to secure the backrest to the posts with glue, and a cross member on their bottom side.
  • The seat dowels should be inserted into the guide grooves on the legs.
  • Install the stud under the seat by screwing M8 cap nuts onto it on both sides.
  • Glue cross members into the back leg.
  • Bolt the front and back legs together to create a folding chair.
  • Now you need to screw the seat to the rear legs. This can be done using ombre loops.

Finally, the chair or chairs, if you have collected several, should be painted protective equipment.

The technology for making a folding chair was given above and, perhaps, not everyone can master it. And making several of these folding chairs will take a lot of time. So now we'll look at more simple methods manufacturing furniture for gazebos.

One way is to use saw cuts big trees. You need to cut the trunk on both sides to secure the wooden bench. On two large saw cuts you can install a massive tabletop, which is also easy to make. Connecting the tabletop to the base is very simple. Next, you will need to process the wood and install the entire structure in the gazebo. The photo shows how simple this design is.

If you need less massive benches, then saw the trunk lengthwise into 2 parts. Do it with bottom side recesses for installation on cuts of smaller diameter. Place the trunk on the “legs” in the gazebo and process the wood.

Do you only have hemp at your disposal? Don’t be upset, your original gazebo can be decorated with furniture made from them. Small stumps will be used as chairs, and a large stump will be used for the base of the table. The photo shows a tabletop in the form of a large saw cut, but if you don’t find one, then it can be made from a wooden panel, cut, for example, into a round shape.

A built-in table in a gazebo can be built from bricks that you may have left over after construction. This design will serve you faithfully for many years.

To make this table you need to follow step by step instructions:

  • First of all, strengthen the base for installing the table. Dig small hole, pour crushed stone into the bottom and level it. Place a waterproofing layer on it. Then fill the base with concrete.
  • Now make a square table base. Dimensions: 2–3 bricks in length and 6–8 in height.
  • Place the tabletop on this base. It could be wooden shield or a stone blank. It all depends on your financial capabilities.

A simple wooden table will not take you much time to make, but will last a long time. Its approximate dimensions are shown in the photo.

Manufacturing sequence:

  • Make a drawing. Prepare tools/materials.
  • Supports can have different shapes, but are generally used X-shaped legs. To make them, fasten 2 bars together in the center at an angle of 45º. For reliability, they should be reinforced on top with additional strips.
  • The X-shaped legs should be connected by two bars, which are installed parallel to each other and correspond to the length of the table.
  • The tabletop can be made from 5–7 boards. Install it on the prepared supports. Use furniture corners as fasteners.

Upon completion of all work, treat the table with paints and varnishes.

This article describes different methods manufacturing garden furniture, which can be used to arrange a gazebo. One of the options will be suitable for you. Perhaps you have already done this kind of work? What material did you use to make the furniture for the gazebo? What materials and furniture drawings would you recommend to our readers? Your recommendations can be very useful. Share your experience in the comments to the article.

The diagrams we offer will help you make furniture for a gazebo with your own hands:

A very important and integral part private territory, garden, playground or gazebo is the presence of a bench or bench made by yourself. A bench can be an excellent addition to the overall landscape; it creates a certain coziness in the garden, and for complete relaxation it is best to place it in a gazebo. But how can you make such a design yourself so that it is convenient and fits well into the overall look?

The bench should be made from the same material as the gazebo itself, and you should also adhere to the same style so that everything looks harmonious.

Where would a bench or bench be appropriate?

Benches in the garden count important element decoration of any garden area. They are required not only to sit on them, but also to create a single general view. The main thing is that the benches skillfully fit into the overall composition, and do not stand out as a bright element against the general background of the garden.

Benches play a significant role in public places, such as city parks and playgrounds. For many years necessary part presence is considered comfortable bench even in the bathhouse. If today bathhouses are built from wood, brick and foam blocks, then benches are traditionally made of wood. It is also necessary to install a bench in a gazebo, which is usually built with your own hands. Return to contents

What material are the benches made of?

Bench diagram.

The bench can be made from various materials. In the last century, materials such as wrought iron, marble, stone and wood were especially popular. Today modern materials for the manufacture of benches are considered synthetic fiber and plastic. Quite often, craftsmen skillfully combine several materials at the same time. For example, benches are organically made of stone and iron, organic glass and wood, wood and forged steel.

The choice of material used depends entirely on the style in which you plan to make the bench. For the playground are considered ideal option benches made entirely of wood or plastic. Such structures can be easily moved or removed completely.

When planning to make comfortable benches for a gazebo with your own hands, it is better to start from the style of the building itself.

If the gazebo is made of iron, then the bench should be made of steel. But only a master with the appropriate tools and special equipment can make such a bench. But any owner can create a wooden bench with his own hands; for this it is enough to have the desire and adhere to certain rules in performing work. Return to contents

How to make your own wooden bench

A wooden bench can easily be used in a bathhouse, on a playground, or installed in a garden. But you definitely need such a bench for your gazebo, made with your own hands. All required material for this it is considered quite budget option, and it can be easily found in your backyard or purchased at a hardware store. It is important that it is easy to work with wood at home; no special equipment is required. The final work itself is pleasant to look at, and it is much more comfortable to sit on wooden benches than on iron and stone benches.

Technology for creating a bench:

  1. First of all, you should create a drawing of the structure itself in order to visualize what the final result will look like, what materials and in what quantity will be needed? To do this, you need to determine the desired dimensions and dimensions; this is best done immediately on the site.
  2. Having determined the height, width and length of the bench, you can begin to create a drawing. For example, it is considered standard to calculate the height of a bench from the ground to the seat to be about 60 cm. But if the bench is made for children, then its height will be much less. If you plan to make a bench with a back, then you should determine the parameter of the back and its angle of inclination.
  3. To perform a bench it is best to use edged boards with a cross section of 25 mm. Here you should pay attention to the fact that the material is good quality, without knots or visible defects.
  4. Boards in the amount of 5 pieces should be planed and sanded. Of these, 2 will go to the back of the bench, and 3 to the seat.
  5. Using an electric planer, special grooves 10 mm deep and 30 mm wide are made in the boards intended for the backrest.
  6. Vertical strips for the backrest, 10 mm thick, are cut out of the clapboard scraps. Their optimal location is at a distance of 120 mm from each other.
  7. The handrails at the bench can be made into shapes by cutting them out with a jigsaw. It is better to choose a pattern that is not complicated. To perform some curly elements, you need to make the desired sketch of the design, and then transfer it to a special template using a hacksaw and jigsaw. It is more appropriate to use the same pattern on the back of the bench.
  8. It is advisable to make the outer part of the handrail narrower, so it will be more convenient to lean on it.
  9. The supports for the handrail are made of planed timber with a flat part for fastening. Or in this case, you can also use the front legs of the bench, which need to be made higher, that is, not up to the seat, but up to the handrail.
  10. All parts of the bench will be assembled using woodworking screws with an anti-corrosion coating.

A bench in a gazebo will not only be an indispensable functional addition, but will also fit perfectly into the interior. There are a huge number of interesting, simple and complex options for garden furniture. Their choice depends on the overall architectural ensemble country house or cottages, depending on availability building materials and budget.

Variety of species

There are benches:

  • solid;
  • decorated with openwork designs;
  • metal.

From this video you will learn how to make a folding bench into a gazebo with your own hands:

What do you need for work?

Before you start creating a bench, you need to determine the dimensions and features of the future design. If we are designing furniture in a hexagonal gazebo, then it is necessary to determine whether the benches will be located around the entire perimeter or stand separately.

Calculations should be carried out carefully before starting carpentry work. It is important to consider the space for sitting in the gazebo, consider required amount and dimensions of building materials.

It is important to think through all the design details at the initial stage:

  1. Seat area and structure: solid board, slats, log.
  2. Support device. The bench can be attached to the wall, rest on dug-in pillars, or be portable.
  3. Backs and armrests.
  4. Next, you should carefully calculate the dimensions of all parts.
  5. Optimal dimensions for chairs: height – 44–47 cm, seat depth – 36–44 cm.
  6. The correct drawing will greatly facilitate the work of building the bench.

Simple wooden model

Wood – optimal material for the manufacture of a bench, since the construction of such a structure will be inexpensive. Wood can be easily processed at home. No special equipment or complex tools are required. Wooden benches look very aesthetically pleasing and are comfortable for relaxation.

To make a garden bench from wood you will need the following tools and materials:

  • boards measuring approximately 1500x150 mm (you will need 2 blanks for the back and 3 for the seat);
  • blanks for legs and holders;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • electric plane;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • sandpaper;
  • varnish, primer.

Boards should be immediately selected based on the size of the product. Wooden surface it is better to immediately treat with a special primer and varnish to prevent exposure environment. The design of the bench is sometimes reinforced with beams for reliability and durability.

Manufacturing of parts

After the drawing has been drawn up, it is necessary to prepare the details for the future bench:

  1. The boards should be carefully planed and sanded. There should be no unevenness, knots or splinters.
  2. In the boards intended for the back, you will have to make grooves using a plane.
  3. Next, supports are made from strong beams with durable flat base for fastening.
  4. The bench can be decorated with figured handrails. Using a jigsaw you can create any pattern.
  5. On final stage All parts of the future bench must be treated with an anti-corrosion solution.

Assembly

To give the product the right type, we adhere to the following plan:

  1. We connect the bench legs together using staples and screws.
  2. We screw the backs and seats to the legs, securely fixing them structural elements benches.
  3. Then we install the crossbars and handrails.
  4. After assembly, the product must be coated with several layers of varnish. This will give the furniture a neat look and protect it from the damaging effects of moisture.

It’s not difficult to make a metal bench if you have basic welding skills. You can create interesting objects with bent elements and curls to add sophistication and airiness to the design. Such furniture turns out to be almost eternal if it is painted and protected from rust.

More often hardware combined with wood. In them, the frame part is made of metal, and the remaining parts are made of wood.

We start the bench project with a drawing - we mark the dimensions of the main parts. Parts must be numbered.

To create a metal bench you will need following materials and tools:

  • grinder with cutting wheels;
  • electric drill and drills of different diameters;
  • welding machine with electrodes of various sizes;
  • welder's hammer;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • electric planer;
  • grinding machine;
  • sandpaper;
  • core;
  • roulette;
  • marker;
  • pipe bender for giving metal parts a round shape;
  • durable profile pipes;
  • hardware;
  • wood screws;
  • primer and enamel for anti-corrosion treatment;
  • special antiseptic for wood.

The working process

Manufacturing metal frame for the bench:

  1. To construct a comfortable seat, parts from a profile pipe must be connected in the form of the letter “P”. The height of the legs should be approximately 400 mm, the width of the seat should be 500–600 mm. The thicker the beams, the less height blanks
  2. Next we need to make the back parts. The bending radius should be 300–400 mm.
  3. By welding, the parts for the backrest are attached to U-shaped blanks. The backrest must be attached at an obtuse angle to the seat; for this, the lower part of the parts must be bent. The height of the back usually does not exceed 0.8–0.9 m.
  4. We connect the prepared elements of the future structure with pipe sections: we strengthen two of them horizontally for the seat, and two more vertically for the back. To further strengthen the structure, it is recommended to weld additional elements between the legs.
  5. At the bottom of the metal frame you can weld additional forged elements For decoration.
  6. To make the bench stable, it is recommended to weld “spots” to the legs.
  7. At the final stage of construction, the bench must be treated with primer and enamel.

Relaxing in a gazebo built with your own hands will bring more pleasure

Making the seat and back of the bench

The optimal material for the seat and backrest is wood. It is heat resistant summer time and does not cool in the fall. To create such a design, perform the following steps:

  1. Boards or beams must be cut according to the drawing.
  2. Polish the wood parts with a plane. Thoroughly clean the chips and dust, then coat the wood with protective agents and enamels.
  3. Fasten small beams approximately 50x50 mm in size to the short parts of the metal frame with screws and nuts. For this purpose in profile pipes make holes.
  4. Attach with self-tapping screws wooden parts for the back and seat to the bars.
  5. Mask the hardware with putty.

A bench built in compliance with these simple rules, will last for many years and will be a wonderful addition to a cozy garden gazebo. It must be remembered that the furniture of the gazebo should form a solid, harmonious architectural composition.

Benches and a table should decorate the building, fitting into the overall ensemble. Handmade garden bench, will help you relax and unwind from the noise of the city and stressful workdays.
