Polymer liquid waterproofing Blockade

Reliable and environmentally friendly polyurethane mastic for seams
Our company offers polyurethane sealing mastic for a wide range of purposes for waterproofing work indoors and outdoors

The reliability of many buildings largely depends on how reliably they are protected from moisture. First of all, this applies to objects that are constantly exposed to water: bathrooms, bathrooms, foundations, balconies, swimming pools. One of the most reliable means of waterproofing is polyurethane mastic for seams.

One-component polyurethane mastic - composition and properties

One of the most effective methods to save yourself from unnecessary water is liquid waterproofing. It is successfully used to cover open surfaces with a protective layer and to prevent the appearance of moisture in hard to reach places. Polyurethane sealing mastic creates a uniform, seam-free and therefore reliable coating. Mastic represents liquid material based on polyurethane resins, which, when exposed to air, tend to polymerize and form a durable, highly elastic waterproofing layer.

“Blockade” is a polyurethane mastic, user reviews of which indicate excellent adhesion to any surface. One-component polyurethane mastic has the following advantages:

° It is an environmentally friendly product and after polymerization does not emit substances harmful to humans;
° The material has high stability to aggressive influence chemical substances, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, microorganisms or gasoline;
° Mastic is not afraid of low and high temperatures, is resistant to abrasion and retains its properties even with sudden changes in external conditions;
° The material is vapor-tight and does not allow it to accumulate between the base and the coating;
° The mastic has high elasticity, which prevents cracks from appearing in any weather conditions.
°
° How is polyurethane mastic used for seams?
°
° Polymer liquid waterproofing Blockada has a wide range of uses from complex reinforced concrete structures to tanks and swimming pools. Polyurethane roofing mastics have proven themselves well on flat roofs, balconies or terraces. Polyurethane floor mastic is used as a waterproofing layer under tiles or screeds and as a protective coating for the floors of garages and outbuildings. The material can be safely used in contact with food products And drinking water.
° Polyurethane mastic is sold in ready-to-use packages. It is enough just to mix it until smooth, and work surface clean from debris or cement dust. Application can be done by machine spraying or manually with a roller. Foam tools should not be used in the work process.

During the construction of this cottage, a number of mistakes were made, which led to leaks across the entire area of the roof being used. Repeated attempts to eliminate the problem with traditional roofing materials did not yield results. Since the contractor was running out of time to complete the project, it was decided to apply liquid waterproofing BLOCKADE. The application was carried out by our craftsmen using specialized equipment for airless spraying Graco Mark 5. This technique allows you to apply the material under high pressure up to two hundred bar, without the participation of air, without the consumption of dust, delivering the material only to the point where it is required at the moment.

Surface preparation before application included cleaning the surface from leaves and removing dust. The metal slopes were removed because the bulk of the leaks were underneath them. The existing roofing material was not dismantled, since BLOKADA, having high fluidity and adhesion, does not require ideal surface. The first layer is a primer; the primer was prepared from liquid waterproofing on site, according to the instructions.

The second layer was applied on the same day, after about three hours,

after the primer layer has dried. The calculated thickness was 1 mm.

Since it was the end of autumn and the object was located in a pine forest, as a consequence high humidity and heavy dew on horizontal surfaces, we decided to apply a third layer after two days. To ensure one hundred percent evaporation of liquids from the material and complete polymerization. In the warm season, 2 hours is enough for interlayer drying. After applying the second, final layer 1 mm thick on horizontal surfaces, the vertical seams and joints of SIP panels were sealed along which moisture flowed first into the hidden cavities of the floors and from there into interior spaces buildings. The uniqueness of BLOKADA liquid waterproofing, in my firm belief, is that we have the ability to deliver material to almost any crevice, including internal, hidden cavities through which water finds a loophole. Another enormous advantage of this material is its fluidity! It follows the path of water, filling and sealing absolutely all joints and cracks. Despite the borderline application temperatures, BLOKADA Liquid Roofing solved the problem of leaks. Thanks to liquid waterproofing, the contractor managed to complete the interior finishing and deliver the project on time. Foreman of the waterproofing section Robert Robertovich Sahakyan.

The concept of a liquid roof
It is no secret that the roof is considered the most important element of the structure, regardless of its functional purpose. No construction can be completed without it. For this reason, the materials used to create this part of the house are required to have the maximum degree of reliability, as well as resistance to precipitation of any kind, be it rain, snow or hail.

Liquid roofing is considered the best means of protecting the roof of an industrial building, apartment building or private building from destructive corrosion caused by temperature changes and exposure to sunlight. It is considered an innovative building material that has all the characteristics necessary for a roof.

This article will help you understand many issues related to liquid roofing. We will look at the varieties of this wonderful material, its specifications, as well as the specifics of installation and subsequent care. The article will discuss all the advantages and disadvantages of the roofing material, which is initially a liquid.

This material is often called liquid rubber. It is classified as a new product among materials used to insulate a room from moisture. In other words, liquid roofing is nothing more than a chemical mixture of special polymer additives with an acrylic binder.

The main area of application is roofing. But this one construction material can also be used for repairs of much larger construction projects, including bridges, tunnels and some sections of roads.

Liquid rubber can perfectly protect concrete, wood, brick, screed, floors, and old roof coverings ( Maintenance roofs), installation of new roofs, metal against corrosion. It can also be used during the repair of surfaces that originally had other materials. Numerous examples prove how widespread the use of this wonderful building material is. Liquid roofing, unique in its characteristics, is used in almost all areas of construction. Liquid roof photo

This popularity can be explained by the fact that this material has excellent characteristics. It is unlikely that any other material is capable of preserving physical characteristics for at least fifteen years. During the experiments, it was possible to find out that liquid roofing can remain unchanged for about fifteen years. And at the same time, it does not contain any moisture, nor sudden changes in temperature conditions and other climatic changes.

Roofing in liquid form is called rubber largely for the reason that it has qualities similar to rubber, which significantly distinguishes it from other building materials. Meanwhile, liquid roofing is capable of independently restoring its structure and appearance, which makes it extremely unique in terms of efficiency. Even if there is minor damage, the rubber will return to its original shape after some time. Other materials used in roof repairs do not achieve such a chic effect.

Advantages and minor disadvantages of liquid roofing
This coating is considered the most advanced in terms of technological method of reliable surface protection. Mostly liquid roofing material is applied to a previously prepared, clean base. But meanwhile, this material can be used both as a separate roofing covering and as an excellent companion for other materials.

The main property of the material is adhesiveness. Liquid roofing interacts well with various working surfaces. The second positive quality of a roof is its resistance to sudden changes in weather conditions. In addition, it is not susceptible to ultraviolet radiation and other aggressive factors that can destroy the roof. This material will last for a long time, because with a small amount of liquid roofing, you can cover a fairly large working area with it. Liquid roofing price

Liquid roofing looks very aesthetically pleasing, because after hardening it has no seams or roughness that could subsequently cause destruction of the treated surface. The material is extremely elastic and durable. And we must not forget about the excellent waterproofing properties.

Repairing the surface with the liquid roofing Blockade is easy and convenient. All that is necessary for this is to cover the damaged area with a new layer. And after it hardens, you will not be able to find where the damage was. When repairing, the material does not require open flame and can be applied to the work surface with a roller, brush, or airless spray.

The disadvantages of this material include the rather high price relative to bituminous materials. But bituminous materials are very sensitive to solvents and liquids, sunlight and temperature changes, and other derivatives that contain oil and its derivatives. The price of liquid roofing Blockade is compensated due to the low consumption, relatively bitumen waterproofing.

Based on the above, we can come to the conclusion that liquid roofing Blockade has more advantages than disadvantages. This makes it stand out from other building materials.

Application of polymer-based roofing
This type of building material can be widely used for different types of roofs, regardless of the purpose of the building. The roofing material looks ideal on industrial construction sites and on private homes. And thanks to a number unique properties For such a roof, it can be used not only as protection, but also as a separate material for the roof of a building. So it is not at all surprising that liquid roofing is gaining more and more fans around the world every year.

Subtleties of working with liquid rubber on a flat roof
Often, such building material is used as a waterproofing material in the construction and repair of industrial buildings, apartment buildings, etc. Their characteristic– this is the presence of a flat roof. The specifics of applying liquid roofing depend on the type and quality of the working surface itself. We will pay Special attention application of this universal material onto a flat work surface.

If you want the end result to be of high quality and satisfy all needs, the rubber should be applied to a clean roof. In this case, the roof may not be completely flat, but it is necessary to ensure that there are no large irregularities on it and, moreover, extra items. This will ensure even distribution liquid rubber on the same level. This is the only way the liquid rubber will look great, and the surface itself will have full waterproofing properties.

The smoothness of the final surface depends on the equipment and application technologies used during the work. For example, if you use a high-pressure sprayer and apply liquid roofing to an almost smooth work surface, the result will be a completely smooth roof that has no seams and looks like a protective membrane.

But equipment with low pressure will not give such a result, but can only ruin the roof, wasting consumables. Moreover, the appearance of tubercles of varying heights is possible, which will significantly reduce the degree of attractiveness of the roof. Therefore, it is extremely important, even if it is not possible to pre-level the surface, it is best to use a screed before starting spraying.

The consumption of working material also depends on the type and characteristics of the surface being treated. So, for example, if liquid rubber is applied to slabs, its consumption will be significantly greater than when processing a flat surface. For this reason, experts advise pre-reinforcing all joints using a primer, which will help get rid of joints between the slabs. It will be even better if you first lay sheets of geotextile. Optimal use liquid roofing is its application to a surface pre-treated with a screed. This will help achieve a great appearance and preserve the original aesthetic and physical properties material.

Roof Blockade – perfect solution for all types of roofs
Liquid roof is a new word among many building materials. Her chemical composition characterized by the presence of polyurethane elastomers. Initially, this type of roofing was used only for the needs of the military, helping to cover strategically important objects with material that made it possible to hide them from prying eyes. However, as often happens, the inventions of the military became available to ordinary citizens who managed to appreciate all the advantages of this new material. Buy liquid roofing.

Thanks to the initially high demands set by military personnel, liquid rubber is now a material with unusually high physical properties, which primarily include reliability and wear resistance. In most of its properties, this material is similar to other types of rubber. However, in some cases it has much higher rates.

Liquid roofing is simply a godsend for creating a beautiful appearance for any type of roof. Today this material is used in almost all areas of construction, where a significant degree of protection is required from the materials used. This type of roofing can be used together with other materials, or used as separate material for the roof. Having tried liquid roofing once, you can see for yourself how excellent it is as a building material, how durable, unique in appearance and reliable it is.

Advantages of liquid roofing
There is probably no country in the world with the same diametrically opposite climatic conditions as ours. The climate is mild in the European zone and harsh in the Far North. Many regions of Siberia and Far East constantly experience significant fluctuations in average daily temperature. The range of such fluctuations can be up to 20 degrees.

Naturally, not every construction and construction equipment can withstand such harsh conditions. finishing material. A sharp temperature change invariably leads to stretching - compression of the material, its deformation, the appearance of cracks, rupture, etc. Such changes are especially noticeable on the roofing.

One of the most economical and frequently used roofing coverings is fused roofing. Ruberoid and others bitumen roofs very cheap, this attracts buyers. But it’s not for nothing that they say that the miser pays twice. The very next year, such a roof when used in harsh conditions weather conditions needs fixing.

Liquid roofing is a fundamentally new direction in the field of roofing materials. The basis of such a roof is liquid rubber. The coating does not require preheating or melting; it is the so-called “cold type” of roofing sheet.

Of course, the cost of such a coating will be higher than when using a built-up roof. But this is understandable. Liquid roofing allows you to forget about restoration, repair and replacement of the roof of your house for 20 years or more, while roofing felt will have to be changed many times more often. So it turns out that liquid roofing ultimately turns out to be much more profitable and preferable than roofing felt.

The undeniable advantages of this material include:

- Easy installation;

- Excellent adhesion to any type of coating;

- High resistance to sun, water, precipitation, fire;

- Ideal material for covering curved surfaces and geometrically complex roofs;

- Light weight;

- No need to use special tools and fasteners;

Long service life

Due to the absence of harmful substances, this roofing is also an environmentally friendly material.

In addition, instead of the usual black color, liquid roofing can be produced in a multi-colored version. So your home will now not only be reliably protected from rain and snow, but will also become aesthetically attractive.

In our climate, liquid roofing cannot always be used. This depends on the fact that Russia has different latitudes and different temperature zones. The Ascension company has developed an all-season roofing covering Blockade. Liquid roofing can be used in cities such as Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Vorkuta, Murmansk, Nefteyugansk, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Petrozavodsk and other cities of Russia. Liquid roofing Blockada has proven itself to be excellent. An indispensable waterproofing material when applied at low temperatures. The temperature for applying liquid roofing is from minus 20 to plus 35 degrees Celsius.

For installation new roof or repairing a used one, an excellent waterproofing material is the liquid coating Blockade. This modern material is made on the basis of a polymer binder. It can be applied to any roof surface. The blockade serves as a reliable final coating that protects the surface from the effects of natural phenomena. If the roof leaks at the joints and seams, then a liquid roof will reliably protect it from moisture penetration and exposure to sunlight. This material is applied to rolled surfaces, slate, cement and wood. In all cases, liquid roofing becomes a reliable protection for the roof of a house, terrace, garage, veranda and other objects.

The company IC "VOSKHOZhDENIE" is a reliable supplier of polymer waterproofing to the country's construction markets. Blockade insulation is much more reliable and durable than bitumen-based roll insulation. After all, during installation roll materials Joints remain that can cause moisture to penetrate into the room. In addition, under the influence of sunlight, bitumen gradually breaks down. Liquid roofing material covers the surface evenly, leaving no chance for precipitation to penetrate.

Insulation from this manufacturer is used not only when carrying out roofing works, but also for covering the foundation, which reliably protects the walls from dampness, as well as for insulation basements. Today the Blockade is the most reliable and quality look protecting premises from moisture penetration. On the company’s website, anyone can order liquid waterproofing in required quantity and the material will be delivered directly to the construction site.

The company offers favorable discounts for wholesale buyers. Liquid waterproofing is widely used for waterproofing balconies, loggias, bathrooms, walls, floors and roofs. This environmentally friendly material enjoys well-deserved consumer trust due to its impeccable quality and affordable price. The client can pick up the goods using his own transport, or it will be delivered by the company’s courier service. Payment is made in any form convenient for the buyer.

The use of waterproofing such as Blockade will provide the owner of the premises with a cozy and comfortable stay for a fairly long period. Reliable insulation will help create a normal microclimate in the house, eliminating the presence of mold and dampness. Since waterproofing does not require special effort and over a long period of time, construction labor costs are significantly reduced. If you order it in an online store, you can save a significant part of your Money. The OSM exhibition presents best samples liquid waterproofing Blockade.

The company’s website contains a video of the installation of liquid waterproofing with step-by-step instructions. This video demonstrates the entire process of preparing the material and the surface on which it will be applied and the actions of the work performers. Thanks to this video material, you can apply the material to the required surface yourself.

Polyurethane waterproofing

Waterproofing of roofs and other construction sites
Durability and successful operation of any building structure directly related to the creation for her optimal mode humidity and temperature. Condensation, which forms, for example, in places where there is no roof waterproofing, can not only penetrate the insulation and spoil its quality, but also get directly into the living space, onto the surface of the concrete or screed. Liquid polymer “Blockade” will help to reliably protect walls, ceilings, floors and other parts of the building from moisture. Buy polyurethane waterproofing

Polyurethane mastic for waterproofing Blockade is an effective waterproofing for floors, foundations, walls, roofs.

Bathroom waterproofing buy
Residents of high-rise buildings are familiar firsthand with the problems that can result from improper waterproofing of a bathroom or toilet. Therefore, they will certainly appreciate the professional polyurethane mastic “Blokada”, which does not require special preparation of the treated surfaces and takes a minimum of time and effort. This fire-resistant and non-combustible material does not form seams on the surface, and even a non-professional can work with it. The sealing of seams and joints carried out using “Blockade” will ensure a long service life of the room. Having penetrated into the material of the building structure, the mastic will provide it with 100% protection from moisture absorption.

Polyurethane basement waterproofing
An obligatory stage of installation in basements and semi-basements comfortable conditions is the waterproofing of the basement, especially if it is located at the level groundwater and subject to negative impact climatic factors. The composition of “Blockade” will prevent moisture from penetrating into the porous structure of concrete and its further freezing, leading to deformation and cracks. Timely waterproofing of concrete in the basement increases the service life of buildings.

Roof waterproofing is necessary stage roof construction or repair. Only high-quality waterproofing materials and proper installation can guarantee the prevention of precipitation from entering the roof, causing its destruction and reducing the service life of the roof. The issue of choosing materials for waterproofing is very relevant today, since the market offers many types of them.

One of optimal solutions This is liquid rubber, which is becoming increasingly popular due to its characteristics.

What is liquid rubber?

This new type waterproofing has become an excellent alternative to soft roll coverings, for example. Liquid rubber is made by adding latex to a bitumen emulsion. The resulting mastic is sprayed onto the base and hardens almost instantly. As a result you have polymer membrane without seams, used as a waterproofing carpet.

Properties of liquid rubber as a waterproofing material

Liquid rubber has high adhesion to any base materials. Therefore, it can be sprayed on any surface: wood, concrete, metal, slate and even old roll coating without removing it.
Bitumen-latex emulsion, after being applied to the roof surface and hardening, forms a very durable, elastic seamless coating, which serves as a guarantee against leaks. In case of damage, this place can be easily found and quickly repaired.

Liquid rubber has other advantages:

  • durability – the service life of liquid rubber waterproofing is at least 20 years, but most often this material lasts more than 50 years;
  • safety – does not emit toxic compounds or pungent odors;
  • fire safety – resistance to fire and chemical reactions;
  • no electricity, water or fire is required during application;
  • resistance to temperature changes, high or low temperatures, UV rays.

Liquid rubber: scope of application

Based on the characteristics of liquid rubber, this material has become very popular when carrying out roof waterproofing work at various sites:

  • industrial buildings, hangars, warehouses;
  • administrative, public buildings, shopping malls, entertainment centers;
  • residential private and apartment buildings, cottages, schools, hospitals.
At the same time, the use of liquid rubber will help to quickly and with a guarantee of excellent quality carry out waterproofing flat roof having a large area. For example, a roof covering an area of 1200 m2 can be coated in one day.

The task is also simplified when applying waterproofing to the roof. complex shape, with many canopies, guy wires for antennas, pipes, equipment supports, ledges and parapets.

Liquid rubber application technology

Before spraying the bitumen-latex membrane, the roof must be prepared: remove all debris and remove dust from the surface. There are two ways to apply liquid rubber:

  • by mechanical spraying using an airless installation; a solution of calcium chloride is used as a coagulant to accelerate the reaction rate;
  • by manual application using rollers or brushes.

The mechanical method allows you to significantly increase the speed of waterproofing work and reduce the consumption of mastic, which is distributed evenly over the entire surface. When working with a roller or brush, the material must be applied in layers, allowing about 7 minutes for each layer to dry. The speed is much lower than with mechanical spraying, as you can see by watching the video:

Cost of roof waterproofing with liquid rubber

Coating a roof with liquid rubber is beneficial for many reasons: the excellent performance properties of the material, the speed of work, and the ease of use and repair.

But besides this, liquid rubber has an excellent price-quality ratio: at a low cost, it far exceeds the quality of rolled roofing materials.

Applying a layer of liquid rubber waterproofing will cost, on average, 700-800 rubles per 1 m2, but you will forget about repairs, leaks and other troubles associated with the roof for a long time.

Enough interesting material For roof waterproofing, petroleum bitumen is used, which is also popularly called liquid rubber. Many specialists know how universal this material is, and craftsmen without experience often underestimate roofing rubber. This type of waterproofing is used when installing a flat roof, repairing an old one covered with roofing felt, and also to protect the roof and foundation from water. Below we will tell you what liquid roof waterproofing consists of, what its properties are, and how it can be used.

What is included in rubber waterproofing?

Liquid rubber for roofing is used quite widely, and it is based on a bitumen emulsion. This material is a thick, viscous, flowing liquid that, after hitting the roof surface, begins to solidify if the outside temperature is above 5 ºC. After the liquid rubber has completely hardened, a continuous, durable layer is obtained that prevents moisture from entering.

Among other things, liquid roof waterproofing includes:

  • Polymer additives. Necessary to give the material greater resistance to temperature changes and mechanical stress.
  • Plasticizers. Designed to give the bitumen composition increased fluidity and elasticity, as well as to increase adhesive properties.
  • Hardeners. They are added to the material to allow it to harden.

It is worth noting that this water-repellent agent has nothing in common with the usual real rubber, and it is called so because after hardening the material remains just as elastic and viscous.

Properties of moisture-repellent roofing rubber

Liquid rubber has a wide range of applications. She has high level waterproof, excellent elasticity, and this material is easy to apply with your own hands.

The advantages of a rubber roof include:

  1. Integrity. After the material hardens, a monolithic moisture-repellent layer is formed on the base of the roof without joints and seams, which often cause leaks.
  2. High adhesive properties. The mixture easily penetrates into the smallest cracks and pores of wooden elements of the roofing structure, concrete foundations and even steel elements without priming.
  3. Weather resistance. Liquid rubber can be applied to the roof at temperatures from -75 to 95 ºC - these indicators are more than enough for the normal operation of this material in all regions of the Russian Federation.
  4. Ease of use. This moisture-repellent material can be used to cover vertical and horizontal structures. And to apply the composition you can use a brush, roller or spray gun.

Keep in mind that this material also has disadvantages - these are high price and poor resistance to ultraviolet radiation. To protect the roof from the sun after applying this moisture-repellent agent, the surfaces should be additionally covered with silicone or water-based paint.

For what purposes can it be used on the roof?

The range of uses of liquid rubber is quite wide. It is very different from other moisture-repellent products in its consistency, which allows it to be easily applied to any surface and cover narrow crevices, small depressions and joints.

Liquid rubber can be used for the following purposes:

  • For waterproofing flat roofs. Liquid rubber is distributed in an even layer over the entire base of the roof until a uniform layer of the desired height is formed. This technology is also called self-leveling roofing.
  • As a primer layer before installing rolled and piece roofing coverings.
  • When organizing protection for the foundation and other structural elements of the house from water. Thanks to bitumen, the composition acquires antibacterial properties, so materials after its application remain intact longer and are less susceptible to corrosion and destruction.
  • For roof repairs with liquid rubber. It makes it easy to hide cracks, tears and holes; it can be used to install a patch on an old base covered with roofing felt.

According to many experts, the high cost of the material is more than compensated by its superior performance characteristics. In practice, it was ordered that a layer of liquid rubber of only 2 mm can replace an 8 mm layer of rolled waterproofing.

Technology for using liquid waterproofing for roofs

First of all, carefully prepare the surface. All dirt and dust are removed, after which the working surface is dried, primed with mastic and a reinforcing layer of geotextile is laid. After this, you can begin applying liquid rubber.

Liquid waterproofing can be applied using one of the following methods:

  1. Using a roller or brush. Such tools will allow you to treat the base with a thick layer. This method is usually used to cover horizontal surfaces.
  2. Bulk method. If you plan to pour a large layer of waterproofing, the easiest way is to pour liquid rubber over all bases, and then level it using the rule.
  3. Using a spray bottle. This tool is convenient for covering vertical surfaces, while the waterproofing layer is thin, so this method is considered economical.

It is worth noting that for best efficiency Liquid waterproofing should be applied not in one layer, but in 2 or 3. Each subsequent layer is applied after the previous one has completely hardened - after approximately 5-9 hours.

Every roof needs some type of covering material to serve as the front line of weather protection for the building. Therefore, the construction industry is constantly offering new products on the coating market, and one of them is liquid roofing. Its operational properties and features will be discussed further.

Bitumen, as many years ago, is the basis for many roofing materials, especially for flat roofs, due to its specific chemical and physical properties.

New products are constantly being developed based on it, and one of them is liquid rubber. This is a bitumen-polymer containing one or more components.

Strictly speaking, “one-component” compositions can be called such only conditionally, since they represent ready-made mixtures various substances, ready for use and do not require mixing or other additional operations.

At the moment, liquid rubber for roofing is one of the most technologically advanced and easy-to-use materials.

It is used both independently and as waterproofing for other types of coatings - and, unlike classic films and membranes, it is applied over the base.

There are practically no roofs that cannot be coated with liquid roofing due to its high degree of adhesion (penetration and adhesion).

Among them:

  • Monolithic and precast concrete
  • Cement strainer
  • Tree
  • Metal
  • Roof tiles (including as a bottom waterproofing layer)
  • Slate
  • Old coatings made from roll materials

At the same time, a special advantage of the material is that on the roof where liquid roofing is applied, the roof as such can be of any shape, and with the most complex geometry.

The advantages of this mastic include:

  • Creating a continuous roofing carpet without seams
  • No connection problems at the locations of various roof structures
  • High elasticity
  • Durability (20 years or more)
  • Ease of application and fast drying
  • High water resistance even in extreme conditions
  • Chemical and biological resistance
  • Wide operating temperature range (-60 - +110 °C)
  • Environmental safety (can be used even indoors)
  • Low material consumption (1-3 kg/m2)

The material can also be applied in almost any way:

  • Brush
  • Roller
  • Spatula
  • Rubber mop
  • Spray installation

At the same time, high fire safety is ensured, since this roof is installed in a cold way, without the use of open fire.

Hardening occurs almost immediately after application. You can walk on the coating, and complete readiness occurs in a day.

Minimal preparation is required, similar to the installation of a conventional screed or surface painting: cleaning from dirt, degreasing, and, if necessary, a primer

Important information! Degreasing and priming work must not be carried out using substances based on petroleum products

A particularly effective area of application for the material is roof repair with liquid rubber. As a rule, it is performed on the old coating made of rolled materials.

It is noteworthy that in this case - as in full coverage old roofing carpet, and when applying repair patches, removal of the old coating is required only in places of spalling. Even bubbles, after cutting them, can be filled with mastic.

Advice! In order to save money when constructing a roof covering, you can use rolled material as the main material, and use bitumen-polymer mastic to treat difficult areas - abutments, vertical and inclined surfaces and so on.

Of course, no material is without its drawbacks; liquid roofing also has them.

These include:

  • Relatively high price
  • Sensitivity to solvents and other petroleum-based products
  • Possibility of removing the coating, if necessary, only mechanically

However, the advantages still outweigh: the speed of the device, the ability to apply to vertical surfaces (without subsequent sliding under the influence of heat sun rays) – this material has no equal. Special mention should be made of high elasticity.

Thanks to it, when the temperature changes environment, even the most drastic - the roof will work together with the base, which will not allow damage to occur either in the covering itself or in the places where the carpet adjoins various elements roofs.

When installing additional protective layers(substrate underneath and hard covering - screed, cement tiles, etc.) on a material such as, for example, a reinforced liquid roof can be used.

Although mastic is usually produced in black, there are also colored options. It can also be tinted with silicone or water-based dyes.

The remarkable properties of liquid rubber (although in fact it is not rubber, it does not necessarily contain rubber) make it a universal and very practical coating.

And if you additionally coat it with protective paint against exposure to ultraviolet radiation, such a roof will last much longer than the 20 years stated in its characteristics.

Before you begin waterproofing or repairing a flat roof with liquid rubber, you should first complete all general construction works on the object. So that after the formation of a seamless bitumen-polymer membrane on the roof surface, no strangers move on the coating, much less carry out loading and unloading work and transportation of building materials, equipment, etc. on the roof. This is possible if the liquid rubber membrane is protected from mechanical damage. For example, cover it with geotextiles and arrange a screed.

There was once a case when a contractor completed flat roof repair, technical supervision accepted the work. In August, all of a sudden, the customer reports leaks. We went out onto the roof and found that the covering was torn in many places.

It turned out that a week ago large stained glass windows were installed in the attic extension of the neighboring section of the house. Huge windows, weighing a hundred kilograms each, were lowered by crane onto the rubber roof, then several people, using their hands and carts, dragged these windows 50 meters, then installed them... The result is damage to the coating. Then it started to rain.

It’s good that all this came to light in the summer - the damage was eliminated, since the coating made of two-component liquid rubber can be easily “healed” with one-component liquid rubber. But things don't always work out so well. And the customer may not admit his guilt and the damage may be discovered in November, when it will no longer be possible to use liquid rubber.

By the way, one-component liquid rubber is an ideal product for spot flat roof repair, when it is necessary to seal only the places of junctions, cuts, punctures, holes and other damage, or those areas where there were swellings that were opened to dry or install aerators. For these purposes, you do not need to use equipment, just a bucket of water-based bitumen-polymer mastic and a spatula. But again, work can only be carried out in the warm season.

So, the decision was made to repair the flat roof using a two-component water-based bitumen-latex emulsion, better known as liquid rubber.

Where should you start?

You need to start by completing all construction and installation work on the roof and adjacent areas, installing all mechanisms, equipment, and fixtures.

Surface cleaning for flat roof repair

The condition of the roof can be very different. With capital flat roof repair It is very likely that you will have to dismantle the old roll covering (and many layers), and then the thermal insulation, all saturated with moisture, and then the screed, all cracked and crumbling. That is, you will have to remove the entire old roofing pie - up to the reinforced concrete floor slab. And a flat roof during these operations may look like the one shown in the photo below.

The roof base must be clean. It makes no sense to bring the installation and liquid rubber to the site before the roof has been cleaned. All construction debris, leaves, dirt, dust, etc. should be removed.

How to remove construction waste is more or less clear. Most often, “misunderstandings” arise - how thoroughly should the roof be cleaned of dust and how to do it?

Here it should be understood that if dust remains and there is a lot of it and it is not emulsified during priming, then it will turn out that the coating will be applied not to the base, but to the separating layer. Accordingly, there will be no high-quality adhesion, accordingly... well, etc.

The “degree of cleanliness” of dust for flat roof repairs with liquid rubber also depends on the liquid rubber raw material used. The fact is that some brands are very “capricious” or, let’s call it “demanding” in terms of fulfilling all technological aspects, incl. and the absence of dust. Those. when using two various types raw materials of liquid rubber when repairing flat roofs, the result is in in this case adhesion will be different.

Some brands of bitumen-polymer emulsion can be applied even to a very dusty base and the adhesion will be such that you can tear the hell out of it. And another material can be applied even to a more or less clean surface and the membrane can be removed even after a few days. Of course, in addition to cleaning the base, other factors are important for adhesion - but more on that in other articles.

So, how clean should it be?

Dust removal of the base when repairing a flat roof with liquid rubber

The most effective way is to blow off the dust with a compressor. In this case, it would be good to provide screens so as not to blow the dust down, but to drive it onto one section of the flat roof and collect it there. It is optimal for the compressor to be equipped with an oil and moisture separator ( excess moisture on a base that will be covered with liquid rubber is not needed). Each compressor usually has a built-in moisture separator, but this is not enough. It is better to install a separate oil and water separator at the outlet. Such devices are inexpensive and compact. In the photo below you can see the oil and water separator from the Italian company Camozzi.

A lot of dust and dirt accumulates at joints, junctions, and fastening points on the roof engineering equipment, pipes, antennas, air ducts, ventilation shafts, protruding metal structures, etc. Moreover, in these places the dirt, as they say, “cakes and grows together” with the base. You won't be able to blow it off with air. Such areas must be cleaned with special care, using wire brushes or brushes with dense, stiff bristles. You can use special brush attachments for drills.

From flat areas of a flat roof, caked dirt and dust can be removed by washing with water under pressure (various Karcher washing units). But the roof surface must be dried after such washing. And it is better not to apply such washing to the old rolled base of a flat roof (if the old covering is not removed), because... some of the water will definitely get under the roll and this will only complicate further work on preparing the base for flat roof repair.

If liquid rubber is to be applied over fresh concrete, then it is better to remove the cement laitance, because soon this layer will gather dust. Ideally, this problem can be solved by grinding the concrete. In this case, the upper fragile layer is cut off and pores are opened, which will be clogged when primed with a bitumen-polymer emulsion. If you want to do everything perfectly, use grinding machines on concrete. Well, or, at least, go through it with brushes.

Here, again, it should be understood that when using some brands of liquid rubber, you can get excellent adhesion on concrete, even if you remove the cement laitance with brushes (provided that a primer has been completed before applying the liquid rubber). For other types of bitumen-polymer emulsion, in order to obtain good adhesion, you need to clean off the cement lait more thoroughly.

Repair of a flat roof with liquid rubber on a wet base

After the surface has been cleared of construction debris, dirt and dust, you can proceed directly to repairing the flat roof with liquid rubber. But... Only if the base is dry.

If it is known that the base is wet, not even from above, but rather there is moisture inside, then this is fraught with troubles later. Therefore, such a base should be dried. This applies to a lesser extent if liquid rubber is to be applied over a new screed, and to a greater extent when flat roof repair carried out on the old roll base without dismantling it. If there are many layers of rolls (sometimes there are 20 or 30 layers), then a lot of moisture has accumulated in such a cake. just like the old ones roll coverings. And this water should, if possible, either be removed before applying liquid rubber or measures should be taken to ensure that this water is removed later, but so as not to damage the coating.

About how in roofing pie moisture accumulates, what this leads to and what should be done before applying liquid rubber when repairing a flat roof - read two articles on the site:

  • Drying the base when repairing a flat roof
  • Ventilation of the under-roof space

If all preparatory stages If the construction work is completed, the base is cleaned, dried, prepared and the issue with ventilation is resolved, then the installation and liquid rubber can be delivered to the site.

When starting to apply bitumen-polymer emulsion, you should remember that installing waterproofing is only one stage in the technological chain for repairing a flat roof. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a set of measures that differ depending on whether the roof is in use or not, in accordance with technological map roofs.
